She has trouble writing things correctly on the board and isn't much help. Everyone didn't too great on the tests. Had us buy a book that we never used and do a stupid research paper. I wouldn't highly recommend her.
Very nice teacher, and the class is pretty easy as long as you keep up with the reading.
Took the class online and discovered that it was fairly easy to get a B in. It's next to impossible to get an A in though. No final, no midterm, 2 discussion board posts throughout the whole class. Not a very helpful instructor for those who want to excel.
The class was good but focused a lot on lecture. A lot of the students complained about that but if you take good notes and come to class you'll do OK.
she talks a lot with no point its like she can't stop talking and she is so opinionated and controlling we noticed that she has some issues with men and she dislikes men so she makes sure to let us know about it .everybody disliked the class because of her !!!
I DO NOT recommend taking her!! Her test questions are extremely tricky. She has multiple answers on her test and she grades very harsh. She is not at all clear on what she is asking on her tests. The whole class disliked her and several people are now appealing their grades.
this teacher is hillarious! she talks and talks but none of it pertains to the test! and when she tells a joke that no one laughs at it gets so quiet and funny in the air haha =D. but yeah i got an A in this class and i would only read the book 2 hours before the test. so DON"T BUY THE BOOK, save your money, she will never use the book in class!!!!
Very disorganized, notes are verbatim from the book. Her tests are very difficult. She's also poor at explaining her assignments and you'll find yourself wondering what exactly she wants from you. Also drags class out, sometimes PAST the point it's supposed to end.
This teacher is probably the worst I've ever had. Her notes/lectures make no sense, the tests don't either. She even gets mad at you if you try and go to the bathroom during class. Do not take her, please!
Took this class online. There were 12 required discussion posts on 4 topics, 5 multiple choice exams and 1 4-6 page paper. Haddad never gave any feedback whatsoever and didn't grade anything until it was all turned in, so it was impossible to improve in the course. Her expectations are incomprehensible. I'm not sure she even read our work.
Terrible instructor. She gave almost no feedback at all. Would only return emails after two days. She was more concerned about completing her PhD than teaching class. Take it from someone else if you can. she was no help what so ever.
Terrible teacher. I hesitate to even call her a teacher. She has proved over and over again in class that she knows nothing about the sublect she is teaching. Dont take her.
Extremely hard to understand! would not recogmend this teacher
After nearly completing a whole semester with her, I honestly don't understand what everyone is fussing about. I'm assuming the loud disruptive kids are the ones with the problems as she does not put up with annoyingness from students. I've opened the book once , read over the ppt the night before and have gotten an A on every test. Not Hard!
Very difficult totally unhelpful, extremely hard to understand, grading makes no sense, textbook useless, doesn't seem to enjoy or understand Psychology at all. Do NOT take her!
Online class a big disappointment! from her. Test questions did not relate to Chapters read. Grades according to mood swings and hard to relate with concerning problems with online test questions. Only class that messed up my 4.0 GPA. Dont take!!!
I appreciate that she encourages class discussion, but she can be rude and shows little to no grace. I think she makes students feel inferior.
Worst teacher ever. Very smart woman, however she is extremely rude and unfair. Never responds to emails and makes it seem like a complete burden to her when you visit during her office hours. Harsh, abrupt, unpersonable. Do not take her.
Took the online developmental psychology class & it was pretty disappointing overall. Very little participation needed & basically the professor doesn't communicate after the first week. Doesn't provide notes/lectures aside from what is provided by the book. Exam ?'s are confusing & misleading. This is a teacher who doesn't teach.
On-line child psych class. No input from instructor whatsoever, except to remind us locked exams were our fault! Didn't grade our discussions boards until the end of semester, so had no idea how we were doing. Exams were confusing and seemed designed more to trip us than help us. Worst Ever.
Worst (teacher) I have ever got during my college yrs. I do not recommend you take this teacher in any course. She gives little help thru emails and in person. Tests are so confusing, don't even make sense. She probably misses more days of class than any other student. Oh! and don't even try to have a one on one conversation, you will never win.
This teacher takes herself too serious. She needs to retire, very rude and wants everything perfect. Ridicoulous requests, exams are supposed to be "50?" but are more than that, also stupid tests are timed? that was dumb and ? were so long. Not even a actual class meeting takes timing as serious as she, during tests.Never take this teacher. NEVER!!!
This teacher do not care about students, ask and expect a lot but is not helpful at all. Test are so confusing and most of the questions are not in the book or sillabus. She is not nice at all. I understand teachers have to be strict but this lady is way beyond that. Stay away from her please.
Worst Teacher i ever had!! Her accent is horrible and her teaching skill are garbage! Do not take unless you need stress in your life!
The online class was absolutely the worst that I have ever experienced (so far). There was little to no instructor feedback, with the exception of be informed that locked exams were the fault of the student. I dropped it and took it with Dossey, who is awesome.
She is not a helpful instructor. Her grading does not seem fair and the test are tricky. I only needed a couple points to recieve a grade letter higher but she wouldn't give those extra points, as she said she may do in the syllabus. I don't suggest taking this class with this instructor, find another one!
Currently in the middle of the worst online class ever. If you want an A, expect to memorize numbers: 18 months, 7 weeks, 48%, and other mindless bull. Her goal isn't for you to learn behaviorism, cognition, or sociocultural influences, but rather, your ability to internalize trivial semi-related information. She "loses the forest for the trees."
Don't do it! The tests are impossible to do well on. The instructions for papers are ambiguous. Her feedback is negative. She doesn't enter grades often, if at all. The whole course was just ridiculous and worthless! If you care about your GPA at all, don't take her classes.
Not a very good teacher! Grades unfairly! And she doesn't help you when you need help! Is very inconsistent on her own attendance. Very bad accent! Confusing Test!
Honestly, I'm a straight A student. I took her online class and was failing instantly. There was no instruction whatsoever. I have taken online classes before and ususally teachers use discussion boards to keep students engaged, she however, just made you read 3 Chptrs and then take a timed exam with the time clocking down in front of you
Development-lifespan is not an easy class, it all depends on how much you put into the reading and studying. I am almost done with this class and I have gotten passing grades on the all the tests, again, it's all about how much you put into the studying and reading the concepts. Don't just memorize it but understand how it applies to situations.
Useless. Waited until the end of semester to grade anything, provided no grading criteria for or feedback on assignments, and doesn't let you see what questions you got wrong on the tests unless you meet with her (because we can all make the trip to Santa Maria in an online class, right?). I was interested in the subject but the class wrecked it.
Everyone has their own teaching and learning style and her teaching style doesn't mesh well with my learning style. She's an extremely intelligent woman however she seems to lack patience to teach students that don't grasp the material as quickly as she would like. She lets you know from the start that she has high expectations and grades harshly.
ALTHOUGH I STUDIED AS MUCH AS I COULD, THE POWERPOINTS GIVEN WERE USELESS. AND THE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ON THE TESTS WERE FACTS AND NUMBERS THAT ONE WOULD NOT FIND IMPORTANT.
I advise no one to take her class. She is disorganized and completely unhelpful. I went to her after a test and showed her that according to the book my answers, marked wrong, were right, and she said "they are correct but I don't change them." I should have received an A in her course but instead got a B due to HER mistakes. Do not take her.
Test and quizzes are hard. She takes a long time to respond to your emails and takes forever grading any assignements. She doesn't really explain why she graded you the way she does so it is hard to improve the quality of your work.
I highly recommend taking her in person, NOT online. I took her psy 113 course and I loved her lectures. If you participate in the class, pay attention, work hard, and study then you could totally pass her class. Her exams are harder online than they are in class. It's not impossible to pass and if you love psy you can put the energy needed
Very demanding class which I was expecting since it was a 6 week class. She gives you all the info you will need. Her tests are quite easy if you read the book but there are always a few hard questions. There are 3 short writing assignments but she does not grade anything until the last day. Her priority does not seem to be her online classes.
Online, this was not a difficult class. She seemed a little intimidating in the syllabus BY HER MAJOR USE OF ALL CAPS. But the class is not hard. Buy the text book. If you read the chapters you will do well. Don't bother with the PowerPoints. If you read the chapter, you will do fine on the test.
Overall the communication was abysmal. Emailing this instructor is a complete waste of time. She takes days to respond and when she does she doesn't even follow through. No feedback on written assignments; I highly doubt she even read them.
Haddad is very slow at responding to emails. She only has to physically grade 3 assignments (2 lengthy discussion boards and 1 paper) the entire semester but she does not even do this until well after the class is over so ZERO feedback is recieved from her. I DO NOT recommend her.
Her online class is difficult. If there is one piece of advice I can give, it is to be self-sufficient. She would usually notify the students when a test, exam, or assignment was coming up. I made the mistake of relying on her announcements, that I had missed a Discussion Board assignment. That one assignment cost my a whole letter grade lower.
Overall she is a nice teacher but she is not a good teacher. Her tests aren't hard if you study. She is not the best at explaining things and if you try to answer her questions she will probably say you're wrong. Overall the class wasn't too bad just not the best teacher. Just read the book and the tests won't be hard.
I took Psych 118 about a year and a half ago and got a B+ missed the A by a few points. I am now at Cal Poly and her teaching instruction is difficult, but if you are determined to do well and she knows that, she will help you. I learned alot in her class and I am now applying studying methods she taught to me at Poly and it is helping me a lot.
Wont allow any lateness or missed class. She told us on three of the four tests, no one got an A, yet did not curve it. You can pass, but probably won't pass with an A.
She is a very smart woman with good intentions but as you will read in the other comments, this class is by no means an easy A which she makes really clear from the start. She isn't the most patient nor approachable Woman. She means well with her toughness but it lacks support. She is very strict and everything must be exact. Tough grader.
I was kind of scared after reading some of the reviews on here but I feel that other than some of the test questions that seemed to have no "right" answer, the class was not too difficult. The first of 2 discussion board projects is the hardest part of the class.
By any measure, the worst psy instructor at Hancock; inaccurate exam answer keys, horrible communication, and unapproachable for assistance. Her rating should be a -1.
She was a tough grader. Would have preferred to take it with somebody else but she is the only one that teaches it. Read the book and you'll do good on the quizzes. Good luck!
Responses to emails were prompt but she answered nothing I asked. I was worried about grade and wanted to improve if possible, she gave no feedback and dismissed my questions about my grade. Will never take a class with her again. She takes forever to grade assignments and asks so much of a student but gives nothing in return. No A's in this class
Currently taking this class online, and it's surreal. Walk away from a test thinking I definitely got an A, end up with a C. There's no way I missed 15 questions out of 50. I read the text and use the study guide, spend 8-9 hours prepping for each weekly exam to end up with a C. Straight A's in all my other classes. Calculus wasn't even this hard..
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE COURSE. Like another reviewer, it's very evident her online course(s) are not her priority. E-mails can take up to a couple of mins to a few days to be answered. I thought it would be interesting, but I failed one test (got B's on everything else) and I BARELY got a C-. One positive: she's clear about grading criteria.
DON'T TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR! She is a horrible online teacher - USELESS. She has really strict grading criteria, but she is very clear about what she expects. Teaches solely out of the book without any of her knowledge or input - the book is your teacher. Only actually grades 3 things but those take her weeks to do so. Don't bother emailing her
This class was probably the hardest class I have ever taken. I did not learn anything from this teacher. She is very argumentative and nothing she covers in lecture is on the exams. She focuses on certain things for a long time, than you receive the test and what you learned and focused on is not even on the exam.
Do not take her online class. I am a 4.0 student and I love school but she was the worst professor I have ever had. Very unorganized, would post assignments and exams too late to have time to do them well. I do it recommend her for psych. She really doesn't teach anything
I am currently taking her online class and it is very unorganized. She is very hard to follow. There are things on the tests that are not covered in the text or her powerpoints. I wish I would have read these reviews before enrolling in her class.
I would highly recommend not taking her classes. I have never received less than an A in any psych class I've taken, and I currently have a C for her onsite class. She said we needed to spend at least 3 days per chapter, I can't be the only one that works and is taking other classes. She assigns things too late to get done efficiently.
I hope she reads this & cleans up her act because she's the most unclear, picky, & detailed person about everything to the point where you're back at square one. Everything she said made me even more confused. Horrible teacher. She pushes everything towards the end, making you do & finish more work because she doesn't update grades. DON'T TAKE HER!
I took her PSY 101 online, and I would not recommend it. Only 3 discussion boards due and it took her the entirety of the semester to return grades. Had no idea where I stood in the class. Posts study material online and gives virtually no feedback. You teach yourself. Not worth the frustration, take this class with another teacher if possible.
The entire course is graded upon five exams and two written discussions. Too many of the questions on the exams are based upon information completely specific to the book, not psychology. On top of that she graded me very harshly on what I thought was an original and thoughtful post; probably because she thought I disobeyed her hazy directions.
I took the an 8 week course of Psy101. It is based on 5 exams and 3 written assignments (discussions). Her grading is very inconsistent. She does not enter grades until the semester is over. You have to get A's and B's on the exams in order to pass with a decent grade. There are also many rules when it comes to the written assignments.
Good organization material covered very interesting
This is the worst experience of my Hancock career. She would describe something but went in circles, during the final it took her 30 minutes to re-explain something that she had had confused the class the class before. She would give feed back on papers that did not make any sense. She was not helpful and I have to say the worst teacher on campus.
Do not take her, you will seriously regret it. Constantly, CONSTANTLY goes off topic. She'd spend half the class period talking about something that has no relation to psychology at all. She always made inappropriate jokes about students. She should seriously retire, she's beyond unprofessional, disorganized and confusing when it comes to teaching.
She's an okay teacher. Some of the questions on her quizzes were on quizlet and were in the book. You do have to read the chapters and take notes in order to pass the quizzes. She only makes you do two discussions which were pretty easy. overall, she's an okay teacher
One quiz per chapter. One test per three chapters. Three writing assignments plus responses. Tough grader but gives detailed grading criteria. Lagged to post assignments a couple of times and waited until the end of the semester to grade writing assignments. Responded to emails within two days. Read directions and chapters and you'll be fine.
test on every chapter, and exam every few chapters. for winter courses, there were two discussions. pretty straightforward, if anything, you should just check up on the syllabus.
Worst experience I've ever had with a college instructor. This person does not care about student success, the lessons are horrible, so the students grades suffer. Test questions are meant to confuse you. Take a different teacher or take this class pass/no pass if you care about your GPA. Instructors are meant to want to help students succeed.
I took Prof. Haddad's class online. It was participation-heavy, but she was explicitly clear on what she expected. Was very available to give feedback and help when asked. When I emailed her and asked for clarification on something, she was very kind in her responses. I learned a lot from her class. Do what you're supposed to and you'll be fine.
Professor Haddad's Psy 118 class was okay. However, you do have to read the chapters to pass the class, everything was on quizlet besides one exam. She also grades the written assignments till the last minute. Just don't fall behind and you'll be okay.
DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT take this class! Lubna is the worst professor I have encountered! Very unorganized! Makes plenty of mistakes when grading! Does not care about students AT ALL! You can do all the work and it still wont be good enough even the second time! Whole class reported her! Should not be a Professor anywhere.
She was kind of nice, sorta strict. All her tests and quizzes are not original. She is a very very very hard grader on the essays which are 3. Although she makes one out of 0 so it is basically an extra credit one. I had a 89% and got a 98% at the end of the semester. Textbook not needed even though it saids to get it.
Terrible professor. Very unorganized and somehow that reflects on the STUDENTS grades. The text book is our ONLY source allowed, she doesn't allow any outside research. Try writing 6 pages from 1 chapter. Also causes everyone in the discussions to say the same things, not a real "discussion" at all. Learned nothing.
Worst professor I've met so far
I've taken multiple classes with Professor Haddad and have passed all of them. Yes, she is unorganized at times, but she knows her material well and strives to make sure her students do too. Tip: READ. Read the material before class and you will do fine. She seems strict, but she is very understanding and will work with you if you need help.
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED, DOES NOT EXPLAIN CLEARLY AT ALL, VER VERY VERY HARD GRADER. I LEARNED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THIS CLASS.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is the worst professor and is honestly super rude. I am never one to go out of my way to write anything bad about anyone but this professor makes all her students feel like theyre insufficient because she lacks organization and she blames her students for not engaging. She is so judgemental and feels like nothing is good.
Honestly I think Haddad gets too much hate. Yes, she's unorganized and lecture can be dull and long. If you want to pass the class is READ THE TEXTBOOK, participation counts most of class time is discussion. Most of the tests/quizzes questions are from the textbook and the rest are from class.
My class was online due to it being a summer course. Her syllabus did not correlate with the assignments. We were supposed to have 7-10 days for written assignments and she would post them 3 days before their due date. I emailed her multiple times throughout the class with important questions and never received a response. Would not recommend!!
Haddads class is not very difficult on its own. Its only difficult when you need to talk to her. She is very rude and not helpful at all. She expects you to do it all on your own with no help from her. Directions and due dates are not always clear. She takes forever to grade the 4 written assignments and respond to emails. Don't recommend. Rude!!
Beware future students. This professor is terrible. These are the following reasons: She does not post the syllabus. There is no clear instructions. She is very disorganized because she does not post the assignments in a timely manner. The dates are dated for the previous semester. She does not respond to emails making it impossible to reach her.
This professor is not easy to get in contact with even when she states to reach her to emails only. She is very disorganized because she does not post the materials or quizzes on time. Her lectures are not helpful because she goes off topic. I eventually stopped listening to them and just read the textbook. I essentially taught myself and passed.
Teacher does not respond to emails. She was also a week late starting class, gave no syllabus for a week into class, and expected students to do 4 quizzes within one week of starting class. Just unprofessional and unapologetic.
Doesn't care abt student success. Unorganized. Lectures are very unproductive & confusing. Criticizes student opinions/ viewpoints. Grades very hard on trivial things. Tests & quizzes are designed to trick students, rather than assess comprehension of material. Doesn't follow syllabus. Never responds to emails. Criticizes students in front of class
Class was supposed to start on Monday, March 22. 1 assignment was posted and we didnt hear from her for over a week. The college couldnt reach her and we had to email another professor before she finally posted assignments. I missed an assignment and emailed to see if I could make up points. No response for over a week.
I will never forget the impression she made on me. I first took Theories of Personality, then Research Methods in Psychology (the 1st semester Hancock offered it). Does she expect you to read? Yes. I feel like community college students rate her poorly because they don't want to try. The classes were amazing. I am an empiricist because of her.
