Always there when you need her, answers your emails the same day if not the same hour! Grading is fair and straightforward.
Such an amazing teacher. She knows her material really well. She makes history very interesting.
Amazing professor, lectures are clear and interesting for a history course. Really knows her material and is really great when it comes to feedback and responding to emails. I enjoyed my class with her
Such a great professor! Always there to help you, marks fairly, and makes the class really fun! Exams are a mix of MC, S-A, fill in the blanks and final has essay format but all you have to do is read the book, understand where psychology started, the changes and direction it took, and where its headed! History can be tough but she made it fun !:)
Really great person. If you are required to take 305, take it with her. She makes it really interesting with fun facts and videos included. Very fair but also very understanding.
Amazing teacher! History can be such a dull subject, but she really made it a lot of fun.
Amazing teacher. She really cares about whether the students understand the material or not.
Lucy loves teaching and is passionate about the course material. Highly recommend taking a course with her
Amazing class..... and I have a crush on her....
Simply splendid. Very kind and accessible outside class. Always happy to further explain any detail you have not fully understood. And very fair grader.
amazing teacher, makes you want to go to class. she makes the class interesting and enjoyable. the best teacher i had so far, hope I'll have her again as a teacher
I love this woman. She is an amazing teacher, she makes your feel motivated to study and will make you feel awesome when you succeed. Lectures are super helpful, you can pass without going to class but you will do better if you go.
Lucy is a great person. You can tell she is passionate but the textbook was extremely difficult and lectures aren't clear enough. It is the first time in my university degree I have had to get a tutor. Average of the midterms were both 68% and she took no responsibility over the low average, just said she didn't think they were that bad.
I took Lucy this semester and I'm happy I did. There were a few ups and downs with our class, but overall she was fair. The textbook that was used was rather difficult but the lectures did clarify the material. The course improved as it went on, as to be expected with a new teacher. She is down to accessible and responsive to class' feedback.
She's very caring and wants her students to succeed. The midterms were very hard and the questions didn't reflect the key points of the material. However if you do bad she will try to cater to your needs and is very open to suggestions.
Dr. Farisello is one pepper-worthy prof.
Lucia had good lectures. However her tests were so incredibly long: MC, fill in the blank, 6 essay questions. They did not reflect key points in the book or lecture. Her project about documentary was so easy yet she graded it super unfairly. Tried reaching her 4 times to meet to look at my exams/papers. She never answered. Not professional
Very good teacher
Lucy is an awesome professor who teaches fun lectures and makes the material easy to understand. She did review sessions and asked us to email her if we had any questions about anything which she was always quick to respond to. Her class was tests only but it was easy to study, and she graded very fairly. I would take her again if I could.
The ONLY teacher in Concordia that I would take again! So caring, approachable. Also the only one that ever asked us about our opinion, not simply to memorize material. You will never regret choosing Lucy Farisello for a teacher! The only thing I didn't like in exams were the "fill in the blanks".
Honestly she is the most caring prof in Concordia. Her exams are fair. There are not many profs like this out there.
6 credit intro class, so lots of material but she uses great examples and clarifies things from the textbook very nicely. If you understand the concepts and just memorize the relevant terms, it's an easy A.
Highly recommend! Would take her again and again. Amazing teacher, amazing lectures. Study the class notes and read the textbook, easy content to grasp and explain on the tests. Tests were super straight forward and clear. Easy A.
Lucy is my favourite professors at Concordia. I've taken 3 classes with her and I've loved them all. Every psych student should take at least 1 class with her because she's the best!
Her lectures are fine but the exams are nothing like it. she expects you read the whole textbook which is a lot. her exams have essay questions, true or false and FILL IN THE BLANKS... you could potentially get a mediocre grade if you put alot of effort into it
I really liked Lucy, I thought she was nice and funny. I would definitely take her again. I did not like the class but it was not Lucy's fault because the material was very dry and boring. It is possible to have a good grade in this class but there is a lot of reading and a ton of memorization for the exams.
Probably one of the best professors I've had and will ever have. Her tests are straightforward. Just read the textbook and go over her PowerPoints. Her enthusiasm is inspiring and I always looked forward to her lectures even though they were early in the morning! Definitely take her if you get the chance to!
fantastic teacher, exams are hard though so don't cram the night before. give yourself more a week and be thorough. no attendance but surprise quizes
Very sweet person, helped me a lot. Exams and assignments are fair. I usually like to record lectures but she prefers that student's don't do that, which is fair and I respected. I just feel it might have helped, but I could have worked harder in this class anyhow.
She is an incredible prof that is really sweet and funny, makes the class interesting!! Took her for PSYC 200, LOVED her so had to take her again!! The tests are fair and her lectures make sense. You might not even need the textbook if you go to all the lectures and take notes.
She's my favourite professor so far at Concordia! She is very easy to understand in her lectures, I could listen to het for hours! She is always happy to get questions and emails from her students and always does her best to answer. Tests are a lot of memorization and there is a lot to study even though not all of it is on the test. Recommended!!!
Good lectures. Explanations are clear. Really caring and fair.
Cares strongly about her students and is generally a very friendly professor. Classes are good to know what parts of the book are not on the exam, but I relied only on the book for studying. Her slides are a trimmed version of the book, so reading makes everything much clearer.
Amazing! Also took her for PSYC333. Lucy cares so much about her students doing well and she's so accommodating. Notes are super clear. Exams are fair - not super easy, but if you study, you'll get a pretty good grade. She makes the learning space so fun and comfortable. Would take again in a heartbeat. Easy to get at least a B+ or A-.
Lucia has been by far the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. Genuinely made me want to work, brilliant sense of humour and bold personality. I would love to be able to take her class again, no matter the content, as i know she would make it interesting. An amazing professor, it's a privilege to be her student.
Dr. F is an all around great professor. The midterm was straight forward, and the group project is a fun grade booster. She made history really engaging and explains the concepts thoroughly. Go to class, pay attention, follow the slides, and you'll do well.
An interesting course taught by one of the best professors at Concordia university! Her lectures are clear and interesting. Her exams and grading are fair. Also, her enthusiasm is contagious and she truly cares for her students. 100% recommend taking her
I've had her twice now and I'd take her again. She's very easy going and friendly and makes lectures feel relaxed. She loves to hear class feedback and have discussions. When you study, definitely use the slides as a guideline but rely on the text for details. She tends to linger on one subject for a long time but it deepens your understanding.
Great prof, very caring, makes an effort despite sometimes boring or dry content (because it's an introductory class).
Would take her again in a heartbeat. She's caring, welcoming, she encourages class participation, she makes a rather dry subject pretty interesting. She's definitely not out there to trick you. Moreover, she cares about students' mental heath and will do whatever she can to make you feel better about your life.
She is amazing, love her!!!!
She is extremely caring and patient, and truly wants the best for her students. Would take her again in a heartbeat. The best professor I have had at Concordia, by far.
I LOVE HER! She is such an amazing teacher. She truly cares about her students well being and the success of her students. This class offers a lot of possibility to improve your grades. Her exams are not multiple choice and they are open book. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and I am taking her again in the Winter semester!
Dr. Farisello is an amazing professor. Her tests, projects, and essays are clear and easy to do well on. She makes subtle jokes that crack you up when you realize how smart they are. The course was really enjoyable and I thought she was one of the best psychology teachers I've had!
She is fantastic. PSYC305 is a dense, content heavy course. She makes it engaging, thoughtful and has such a talent for lecturing (even if pre-recorded). She worked to make the content open source, which helped lower textbook costs for the online course. She is a real jem at Concordia--approachable, helpful and creative. Love her
Not caring at all. WORST TEACHER. I had a necessary surgery done and she wasn't willing to accommodate me. I had a medical certificate explaining that I could NOT go to school for three weeks after the surgery (PLUS THIS WAS BEFORE COVID TIME when we still had to go to class). Im writing now because other teachers are so much better and caring
Do not take her
Avoid
I have never taken a history course I liked before Lucy. Clearly put a lot of work into her lessons. They are very thorough & always include moments of humour. This course is work (duh, it's a history course) but the mountain of textbook readings aren't mandatory. I annotated presentations and studied that and did well.
Dr. Lucia Farisello is an amazing professor. She did an incredible job with her recorded lectures in PSYC305. Everything was well put and interesting. From Plato to Sigmund Freud or from the Stoics to Humanism, this class is a true treat to anyone wanting a glimpse on how psychology was founded.
Very nice, helpful, available, understanding prof. The material is very heavy in this class (print the transcripts!!!). 2 open book exams, 10 weekly quizzes, 2 assignments (easy grades). This class is VERY hard and usually boring but Lucy made it more fun and explained the material thoroughly. Make sure you mention and explain EVERYTHING on exams.
I loved how invasive the class was. She was relatively fair with her grading but it is very detailed-orientated. Be sure to properly explain the material to receive full marks with loads of details. Presentation and final exam took forever to grade. I would recommend taking her, just be sure to properly engage with the material to receive full mark
she is very nice as a person, idk if it was her or just this class with any teacher but it was hard af!! She didn't make it easy with her exams: essay questions asking you to make links between everything (confusing for me lol). If you want full marks, you need to get super detailed in your answers! Harsh grader, at least in my opinion.
She's not a good teacher. She doesn't seem to care about her students, and she an extremely harsh grader. Avoid taking her. The class itself has interesting material though, I just wish I had chosen another teacher!
What an excellent professor. She is very engaging, her lectures are so enjoyable. She's got a great sense of humor and she truly wants you to succeed. She is extremely knowledgable about the subject and makes real world connections to the course material . She is truly the best, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.
I took PSYC 333 with Dr. Farisello for the Winter 2021 semester. She structured her online class efficiently and posted phenomenal recorded lectures. Her sense of humor made the class much more enjoyable and made me look forward to learning about lifespan development. I highly recommend this professor. The TA was also amazing, fair and prompt!
I didn't know Angels came in the shape of professors until I took a class with Dr. Farisello. She makes it VERY clear what you need to do to succeed. Her slides, lectures, and overall structure of the class are so engaging. Follow the syllabus and do the work and you will get the grade you deserve. There are no surprises with Dr. Farisello. WOW!
Professor Farisello is a real gem. Her lectures are so well put together, informative and extremely valuable for actual learning. I especially loved all the topics she covered and how she covered them. She is really a talented lecturer. I would definitely recommend her for any class as you can truly feel that she cares for her students.
I loved Lucia. She is the sweetest professor ever and gives very interesting lectures (which is rare for online school). Her class is pretty much all test-based, which I didn't love, but I still enjoyed the class. I just wish we did more in-person zoom sessions!
Honestly if you can take another teacher, do it! Because her lectures are terribly boring. Shes a harsh grader. And don't even bother talking to her about what you're having trouble with understanding, she will just tell you to look at the slides. Not happy with this class, B+ but I know I could of had better. AVOID.
as someone with 4.2 GPA avoid her online class. it is extremely hard for no reason. i would suggest taking other profs for PSYC 305. one of the worst classes I've had. her exams have short answer questions that are really hard to answer as you need to make connections between all the lectures... plus there is too much of information
She seems to be a great teacher and the content is very interesting but this is an online class so she doesn't really teach, a big issue if you don't understand something. Particularly for the exam where you have to make links between topics and answers worth too many points. Dense lectures, quizzes are ok but the final was very very hard.
Her dark humour and fun facts made boring history sound interesting. She's a great lecturer and seems like such a nice person. My only issue was that we did MCQ questions in class but the final had so many essay questions. I went into it feeling like I had no practice. It was pretty stressful. I'm grateful for my final grade but pretty shocked.
LOVED HER - it was an e-course, and I took it during the summer, so her lectures were super intense and we had one exam, one project, weekly discussions and a quiz every other week. her grading scheme is difficult, but that's the university's fault - also, pretty sure she curved everyone's grades up. email her if you have any uni-related questions!
She's very nice but she expects a lot from her students
Shes one of the best teachers in Psych, her lectures are great and the course content is very interesting. However, her exams are more than hard and very stressful. Too many MC and a few SA (more small essays) with not enough time. Her grading scheme is higher than every other class (B+ 80-85) which can impact your GPA badly and its not fair
She never admits she's wrong, might sound and look very nice, but too strict with very confusing, weirdly-worded quizzes. No matter how much I study, her quizzes are still hard, tricky, and unclear. This is NOT education! How is she in psychology but doesn't understand that this is not the right way to assess students? AVOID at all costs!
Shes a great teacher and I love her lectures but her exams are just insane! Its awful and discouraging that no matter how much you engage and understand the material if you dont cram and memorize concepts like a machine you wont get good grades with her, period. Not a fan of the exams weight % and her higher grading scheme either.
Shes a good teacher but the course is graded by just 2 exams heavily weighted and a final paper, so no chance for you to participate or balance your grade in case you do bad in the exams, which is very likely because they are really hard and long. Her grading scheme is higher than other profs, dont know why and it shouldnt be allowed.
She sucks! She gives a billion quizzes which are worth so little but within them she asks for the most specific answer, which is insane. The final exam is worth so much and she's not lenient in the slightest . She's an god awful professor and that's saying something since this was an online class. Never take her unless you want to suffer hard core.
Lectures are organized, but she herself does not help. Takes questions very personal only two zoom meetings, and is not willing to debate and explain any questions you have. 12 Quizzes long and not very clear and do not prepare you for final
Im shocked with the bad comments. I think people ranting are 1st year students and dont know what a bad teacher looks like LOL. Shes by far one of the best profs in Psyc, tough, hell yes, but incredibly knowledgable, caring and always there for her students. Her lectures are crystal clear but you have to work hard and study, cest la vie peeps!
This was my 3rd class with her and it was amazing as always! Farisello is a real gem, her style is unique and fun. She will make you think and connect the material not just memorize useless concepts. Course graded only by 2 exams + 1 paper/presentation, far from being an easy A, but if you care and study, you will end up gaining more than a grade
Absolutely amazing! you can tell that she's passionate about teaching and really cares about her students. Like any other class, you will need o put in the effort but she makes it enjoyable. shes very approachable and loves talking with students
Terrible teacher... seriously AVOID her
I honestly dont liker her teaching style. She doesnt care about her students, at least that the vibe she gives off. Shes not caring at all or understanding at all even during the pandemic. I would recommend other teachers for sure.
I don't know where all these bad reviews are coming from. Lucy requires hard work from her students, but this should be expected in university. I've had her for 3 classes and she is the most inspiring prof I've ever had. SO caring and knowledgeable. She teaches things from the bottom of her heart. She gives me hope for the field of psyc, honestly.
I love Lucy. Most interesting lectures; it's actually so fun to learn and study. Very accommodating during the pandemic, records all lessons and doesn't give too many assessments. If you watch the lectures and study, you'll get an A. She's funny and super smart and pleasant. I wish she taught more courses for PSYC - I would take them immediately.
Take her! You're so lucky if you do - it seems like she doesn't teach a lot of courses at Concordia, but I wish she did. She's awesome and her lectures are really fun and informative - knowledge you can carry with you even after the semester's over. I would definitely take her again, if only she had more classes. Super smart and fun.
Awful teacher. he does not care for her students at all. No matter how much you study, her quizzes are still hard, tricky, and unclear. This is NOT education! How is she in psychology but doesn't understand that this is not the right way to assess students? AVOID at all costs!
She does not put all the information on the Outline and then students get penalized for it. So many of us lots points because she could not be clear on how to get full point on the Discussion Board and when you send her an email to explain this to her, she gets upset. Posts ONE zoom class and then I guess she does nothing else.
DO NOT take history & systems w Farisello!!! It's already such a boring course, she makes it worse. Discussion board requirement is so tedious and boring, you'll lose 50% from each discussion for such minor details. She's not caring, and she is very inflexible. Everything is prerecorded and it's very difficult to engage with the material. Avoid!!!!
I had Farisello for PSYC 333 and it was great! Super easy content, and very fluid lectures. Only had 3 tests and a written essay question which was super easy! As long as you study, do the lectures, and engage with the content you're golden. I took PSYC 305 with her as well which was boring and repetitive, but the content in itself is boring sooo
This professor doesn't make any exceptions or have any understanding of human mistakes. Double check you upload everything exactly as it should be, you will have no excuse for any technical errors. Expect that TA's won't get back to you for over a week as they have too much on their plate. Expect zero compassion.
From kindergarten and up to this point in my academic career, I have never before had to endure a class more bleak than Farisello's. Her interaction with students is practically non-existent and gives off a vibe of apathetic laziness. I would much rather be in a class taught by Miss Trunchbull. At least she has some passion.
Just don't. Took 305 and 333 with her, both were pre-recorded and the classes didn't feel engaging at all. She also likes removing grades over minor details that aren't even relevant to the lecture material. Avoid if you can .
She's an amazing teacher and I will take her a million times! But her classes are not easy, you need to read, study and work hard if you want an A. She uses a higher grading scheme because the department is forcing many profs to do so, their excuse is that people did too good for the past 2 years, so now they're punishing us, but is not her fault!
Awful class. Weekly quizzes are worded strangely and ask for minute details on the slides. Although the class is well structured it will be difficult no matter how much you study. Explanations provided are often unclear and the material itself is boring. The grading scheme is arbitrarily difficult ( A 90- 93.9%). Save yourself and skip her.
Fariello is the worst teacher I ever had in psychology. The final exam is extremely hard and text-specific. Her TAs give positive feedback but then contradict themselves, just say "sorry" and backtrack in order to justify the low grades given. Avoid at all costs and save your GPA. I was getting a 78 and I dropped to 61 from the confusing exam
I get the impression that a lot of these negative reviews were folks who did poorly in the econcordia format. I've had Farisello for both in-person and econcordia courses, and found her exceptional in both formats. People who find the historical context of one of the most complex sciences "boring" might want to find another feild to study.
I found that the grading was super picky, not clear on the fact you have to reply twice and post at least once in the Discussion Boards to get full marks. TA was not sympathetic at all when I said I was having issues, and even when I did reply to people, I got a 0. At least give partial marks for people who try!
just finished, it was literally as easy as the practice quizzes / discussion board. no tricky MC questions. If you got poor marks for your DB's, you were supposed to refer to the course material (shocking). I'm grateful, there are truly terrible psyc courses at ConU [like 321] and this was a good one
Literally felt like listening to ASMR for a whole semester. I was HORRIBLE. Farisello herself has zero interaction with students and doesn't give in any exceptions. Her TAs would take long to answer to emails and her classes were bluntly boring due to the tone she spoke in. If you can, avoid this class.
Mrs. Farisello always seemed to be in a bad mood. She was always screaming at people and when I went to see her outside of class to ask her a question about her lecture, she would slander me about not paying attention during her lecture because she would change slides way too fast.
I had a very hard time in Mrs. Farisello's class. I always tried to keep up with her but her pace was very fast and when I asked her to slow down, She would scream at me and tell me to pay more attention and to work faster.
Expects each student to reach out to her to clarify her unclear instructions for a 200+ person class. EXTREMELY rough grader. Work load is not too bad be the grading is awful. Ignores students emails if too last minute, removes points for things that were not included in the instructions, and can be very passive aggressive in emails.
I can't say much about the teacher, since this was on econcordia, but the essay was very rough and the instructions were very vague. Everything is closed book, and the quizzes are very specific. Understanding major themes is key. Even if she says to not write everything down, write everything down.
Took it fall 2021, tough teacher, a bit condescending when asking her questions lol beware. Material was a bit all over the place. Did not enjoy that class.
DB (10)/Quizzes (30)/Essay(15)/Final (45%). Knowledgeable and responsive but does not make her expectations clear. Emphasizes making "links" between concepts, but this is too vague advice. Tough grader on Essay, more lenient on Final. Lectures are endless and boring. I ended up doing well, so it's possible, but I studied A LOT so avoid if you can.
Lucia is the best teacher I've had in University so far. She really cares about her students and always has great energy in class. We had one midterm, one paper and a final - which I think is fair grading. I loved attending class, lectures are very interesting. Only thing that could use help is the organization of her slides/presentation. Recommend
She is very nice and knowlegeable but I found it hard to listen to her lectures. She often goes on tangent and on many occasions we didn't go through all the material in class. Her tests are hard and no practice material is provided. I strongly recommend keeping up with the textbooks as her powerpoint and lectures are often not sufficient.
Professor Farisello has a very subjective lean towards her lectures. She's very easy to talk to, and I personally found her lectures very engaging. She encourages class participation with open ended questions, which, at least for me, helped me study for her tests better. Don't skip her lectures though. Would def have class with her again.
concordia really screwed up when they screwed over this prof. she is amazing and and asset and shame on this department
If you have the chance to take a class with her, I would 100% recommend. She is so understanding and genuinely cares about her students. Her lectures are super engaging as she encourages student discussion/participation. Her tests are fair and easy to do well on if you study/listen to what she focuses on in class. She is my fave professor yet.
All I'm gonna say is that idk why she's gone but I couldn't be happier that she is! Good riddance!!
The whole course was heavy and she made it heavier and I felt stressed and anxious, the assignments and exams was tough
not ideal. I get it's a 6 cred course but delivery of content was so bad. Lectures are long and boring and her slides are (usually full of typos/errors) and the way she phrases things makes easy concepts wayyyy harder. Slow grading and exams don't reflect what's taught in class. she stresses 'no tricky questions' and then the exam is full of them.
This professor's tests are fair, the delivery of the material is clear and the research projects are easy grade boosters. This course is definitely not easy as it is a 6-credit course, but if you keep up with the readings, go to class and study as you go you will be more than fine.
I found the course content to be very interesting but the quizzes/exams are extremely difficult. Even if you study a lot it is nearly impossible to get A+ (esp bc of the grading system for this course). The quizzes and exams are super specific and the course is DENSE. I would avoid this teacher in the future to protect my time and GPA (too risky).
Farisello can be a tough grader, but engaging with the material and using helpful study tools like unstuck AI can make this class manageable. Expect challenging assessments, but the content is interesting if you put in the effort.
tough class for someone who took it during their first semester, the quizzes are ridiculously hard and require more than just "studying." You need to be able to make ties during the final's long question and MC questions are so specific. There's so much information that final took everything in me to push through it. DB are worth 25%, easy points.
The class was not too hard just a LOT of information and the lecture recordings were so long. I was nervous about taking the final because it was the first semester they did it in person, but I found it very clear and fair. Overall this class was very time consuming but not too bad.
I agree that the lectures are too long and the material is dry (for me personally). However, she provides you with a study guide that will legit tell you what to focus on for the in-person final exam. I was very stressed about the final exam, which was 45%, but it went very smoothly.
For such a new class (my sem being her 2nd time teaching it), I enjoyed the content and delivery, even if it was clearly still being fine-tuned. She certainly cares about her students and their success and was not particularly difficult in grading. If you're considering this class, it's likely her last bc of budget cuts. I'd take it.
PSYC305 online can be a bit tough during the semester, but Dr. Farisello makes the final (at least the multiple choice section) very easy to do well in
Absolutely LOVED this course. Heavy amount of information but she kept lectures super interesting (fun facts, funny call outs, enthusiasm). Tests are super fair, only really screwed if you didn't watch lectures at all. Discussion boards were actually a really fun and helpful way to engage with material and it's full marks as long as you do it.
I took her for PSYC 428 (Sex & Gender Psychology), and she was amazing. The course was clearly a passion project and explored sex and gender diversity across biological, social, and cultural perspectives. Be sure to focus on possible short and long answer topics when studying - these are much tougher than the MTQ's. Attendance matters!
very kind professor but i found the lectures a bit long and hard to follow. material is easy though and she gives opportunities to improve your grade with small assignments
