EASY A class!!!
Really easy class, only two assignments, the second one is a little harder. I personally think she is so funny.
A really nice professor. An easy class in terms of workload, but sometimes her explanations aren't the strongest. Still a good prof.
She's a good prof, she knows her material, but I don't find her an effective prof. Two easy assignments over the term are all the work you have to do other than studying. She draws too many graphs, I find I quickly get distracted when she starts talking to the board that she is drawing on usually behind the computer cart which makes it hard to see.
Sometimes she was hard to hear or the graphs hard to see, but her teaching methods are great. She is easy to follow and relates old concepts. Very effective.
She's willing to push you on the two assignments (they're short & you have 2 weeks each), then makes exams slightly easier. Spent near the whole time drawing graphs on the whiteboard and explaining things 'crystal clear.' She's strict in a good way. Very strong in explaining visually on the graph the concepts going on behind the math you are doing.
Makes you work for the grade - definitely a busy class. Reading the textbook is a must (16 chapters in the course), and MindTap worked really well as a supplement to Lucia's teaching (questions on final were very similar to MindTap material). The assignments were tougher than I expected, but comparing with people in class helped. Not easy A!
If you get a higher grade on the final than the midterm she will actually change that grade to the same as the final, but it isn't easy. She does a lot of graphs that are good for understanding the basic concept, but reading from the textbook is a must to learn to apply the concepts. Many had problems with her comparing to other profs like Tracey.
Stay away from her if you want to keep a high gpa. Her notes from the textbook word for word and her english sucks, you have to pay very close attention to understand her. (HORRIBLE ACCENT) You're better off if you skip her lectures and study by yourself with a textbook.
I really liked her as a person. Attending lecture was extremely important as just reading the textbook did not help unless it was for review. She repeated things that you needed to know over and over! Mindtap is NOT necessary. The same questions are available on the website associated with the textbook. Mindtap is too easy compared to final exam.
Avoid this prof. She just reads off the slides provided by the textbook author and doesn't actually put much effort into the delivery of the material. She always seems really miserable and is often rude to students that answer her questions in class. If you take this class get into the classes taught by Tracey or McClintock.
Lucia is great. She is not your most fascinating prof but if you need her help she is there. She is understanding of certain circumstances. I enjoyed her class because you don't need to crack open the text she basically summarizes the whole thing! Good luck.
Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about economics. She really wants you to know everything in the course through and through. She's pleasant, and if you can really demonstrate you want to do well in the course, you will do well. She wants you to do well by learning everything thoroughly, and will happily help.
Avoid at all cost.
Lucia tries her best and very enthusiastic about whatever she teaches but she is not as clear. i feel her exams are difficult comparatively.
She does not miss anything that will be on the midterm andor final, so it's useful to attend class. She draws graphs all class - so learn how to interpret graphscurves and you're set. The assignments are easy and are worth alot.
Terrible class. Very rude and disrespectful prof.
Each to their own. I got an A on the course, didn't have the text book and the mindtap thingy. Her lectures really did help. Top notch explanations.
Comments here about her accent are quite exaggerated and you will understand her just fine. It can be tough to pay attention to all the graphs she draws - but please do pay attention to them because she really does explain concepts clearly and she will not put stuff on the exam that she doesn't talk about.
Very clear and thorough explanation of concepts. Uses the black board to do most of her teaching which is extremely helpful since there are lots of graphs and examples. Covers all important concepts in class. Is willing to help you with the assignment questions if you ask.
Great Prof! ready to help and she doesn't trick you on the exams
Incredibly pleasant professor to have. You can tell that she is passionate about her field, and it shows through in her booming voice during lectures. She speaks clearly and conveys concepts clearly. I never felt rushed in this class (there's only 2 easy-ish assignments ) and I learned more in her classes than any other.
Lucia is an amazing prof. She has a very good understanding of the material she is teaching and conveys it in a way which students can comprehend. Her exams are very fair, and you will learn a lot of from her.
A remarkable prof! Lucia is concise, extremely organized and prepared for lectures. While some profs waste your time and cancel classes she is dedicated to delivering the course material clearly and not rushed. She writes everything she expects you to know how to do on the board. Though the course is hard, she is generous with her time and marks.
If you are the type of student that goes to every lecture, takes super detailed notes and then goes over the concepts after class you might do well in this course. Don't expect online resources, don't expect any solutions to assignments or tests. If you want that you have to translate Econ Master's students that can't teach or explain anything.
I cant speak highly enough of Lucia. Her professionalism, dedication to students, and ability to clearly communicate expectations and difficult material are only a few examples of what makes her great. Many dislike her because her courses are challenging, but if you seek help and try your best, it is nearly impossible to fail. I highly recommend!
Take a class with Lucia because you will learn so much! I believe that should be the focus of students. She is passionate and doesn't waste a second of your time. She writes down EVERYTHING you need to know and goes over it until everyone understands. Show even a bit of respect and she will go well out of her way to make your experience great!
Let's be serious people- this is an intro econ course that profs probably all hate teaching, and most students hate taking. Lucia was fantastic despite this and in fact is the reason why I'm in economics. So great. I can't wait to take a class with her again.
Class itself isn't too bad, kinda interesting because concepts are basic, but don't go to class and its hard to figure it out on your own. The midterms are fair, not too bad, but the assignments were really difficult. For some reason Lucia likes to periodically yell when shes talking, she really gets excited about economics I guess.3362
Pretty good and friendly but can be hard to understand the accept sometimes.
Had her in Spring. She's a really good lecturer and crystal clear. But the only practice was the practice in tutorial which turned out to be horrible. The tutorial was heavily implied that it was testable. But tutorial had no solutions, just answers. And not even all the answers were covered. Assign/Tutorial feel very different to what was taught.
She is a great lecturer with very clear instruction. The issues that came up were mainly getting the solutions for tutorials and very hard assignments! The material isn't terribly difficult, but you will need to practice questions to get a real understanding of the material.
Terrible, absolutely terrible. Can't learn if you're boring as hell!!!
She definitely loves teaching and covers all the material to a point where attending lectures is SO much more helpful that reading all of the textbook. If you pay attention in class, do your assignments and study for the midterm and final you will get an A. Also means that if you tend to skip lectures, you will probably do bad but still a B
All you have to do is read the textbook and you'll do fine on exams.
She made me enjoy numbers. I hate math but her style of teaching made me not only enjoy it but made me want to take more Economics. Thank you Lucia!
Lucia is a good professor in general HOWEVER, there are some things you should be aware of if your going to take a class with her. First off, she is a tough grader. Second, she will expect you to work for your grade. Third, her exams are straightforward and fair enough but again, if you don't know your materials, you won't do well.
5/6 assignments graded, one midterm & a final. Lucia reads off her notes in the lectures but explicitly goes over examples and graphs that are very helpful! Slight accent that some may find irritating but easy to understand. Assignment answers can be found online, midterm was easy, but final was brutal. Overall, textbook not needed bc great notes!
She's nice and enthusiastic about her work, however, her accent is difficult to understand. Lectures were often boring and dry because of that. Her notes are good, and answers for assignments can be found online. The finals was quite difficult and hard, but the midterm was pretty easy. She isn't bad, but better options ARE available.
Very, very, very easy A. Lucia's lectures are straight from the textbook (like any microecon course). Read the textbook, skim the lecture notes, actually do the assignment, and don't go to class.
I highly do not recommend Lucia Vojtassak because she is boring which makes you want to fall asleep all the time but if you are willing to put in the time to read the textbook you should do fine. You don't need to go to her lectures because she just summarizes the textbook in her powerpoints which are posted on d2l. If you have to, take it.
Lucia is a great lecturer. She makes the content fairly salient and makes you feel confident going into exams. However, the exams have questions on them that are far more difficult than the questions on the holework or discussed in class/tutorials, so this can be frustrating.
Her class wasnt that difficult as long as you put in the work, the midterm was easy but the final was brutal. I went to two tutorials the entire semester and still did well in the course. Her lectures are a bit dry but she covers everything (straight from the textbook)
Lucia is great. Her lectures were so funny, but we still learned a lot. She explains topics well and is very clear about what is on the midterm and final. She doesn't respond to emails though, so if you have a question ask her before or after class.
She was a great prof. Content was pretty hard but she really wanted everyone to succeed. There was plenty of extra support outside of class, no reason you should fail. Also, she has an awesome Russian/Ukrainian accent. I laughed inside when she said vodka out loud :)
Great lecturer. Very good at clarifying concepts and providing good examples. But summarizes directly from the textbook so attendance is not mandatory but does a good job of making the material very digestible if you don't want to try to learn the material by yourself. Not super reachable outside of class however.
Really knows her stuff, but lectures are crazy loaded. Not the best to go for office hours, tends to be pretty moody. Assignments are hard, but they are pretty much whats going to be on both the final and midterm. Exams tend to draag
Decent prof, but she rushes through material and it makes it hard to take notes. She tests specifics on midterm and final so if you are not good at taking quick notes then you find it hard. She also gives poor examples in class that make it hard to follow. I would not take a class with her again knowing that other profs post better notes on d2l.
She wasn't the worst teacher, but she wasn't the best either. She rushes her lectures, goes up until the last minute and fills her lectures with information a lot. Her midterms questions on small and unimportant topics that you seem aren't worth studying. On the pro side, she was enthusiastic and nice.
Lucia is passionate for econ, and that is obvious since she yelled over "exciting" econ things. The practice midterm is pretty much the actual thing. For the final focus on the last few chapters. Lots of graphs that do not get posted on d2L so attend class. Nothing bad about her nothing great.
Honestly has the most pathetic rules and policies. She does not allow the use of cellphones or laptops for note-taking even though the majority of university students prefer this method as a learning tool. She also does not allow students to audio record her lectures despite her lectures that have too much information that goes by quick
Lucia is an amazing prof, if you actually want to understand economics and have it make sense take it from her. Going to lectures is important because she doesn't post anything on d2l. Some of her assignments can be difficult too, but overall an amazing prof one of my favourites.
She is extremely moody and doesn't even look at you then you are asking her a question. Doesn't post notes on D2L and also gets mad when you try to copy from her slides and says that "its common sense so theres no need to copy anything down from the slides". Also legit gets mad when you take out your phone. A really pathetic and horrible prof...
Lucia is my favourite prof by far in the department, this was my 3rd class with her. Know you have to attend class; she does notes on the board, but she explains everything so clearly and the textbooks are good for clarification and more in depth understanding. Her exams are based on the tutorial problems, assignments, or practice exams so do them!
lectures were incredibly dry and boring. Only examples were about lattes. Tons of lecture notes.
I didn't enjoy her classes. She is indeed a math teacher, so thinks you understand all the math, doesn't post anything, rushes and lectures are super boring and graphs impossible to always copy correctly and they aren't posted anywhere! :( I hope, she will never be my prof again, as I still have more econ classes to go. Pick a different prof.
Very enthusiastic and passionate about her field! Her enthusiasm made it easier for me to follow. She's taught this course a lot so she knows common mistakes and what is hard, what's not, etc. She makes lots of subtle jokes, which made her class interesting for me. I found the material very interesting and she inspired me to minor in Economics!
DO NOT TAKE ECON 301 AS AN OPTION. It's meant for Econ majors.
Very good instructor her notes and examples she does in class clearly explain everything you need to know for the course.
Seems like she can only teach through graphs, and isn't able to answer confusions verbally. Tough course on it's own, she isn't horrible, but not great either. Long assignments, but tests are do-able. Definitely my least favorite class this semester, but a good grade is attainable.
I can't lie Lucia is a hard professor but you definitely learn a lot, assignments are extremely long so start as soon as possible and also do assignments in groups, make friends! The tests and final are quite difficult so study hard!
Extremely boring lectures and she has a strict no cellphone/laptop policy. Posts no notes online but pretty much teaches right out of the textbook. Assignments are annoying but easy overall. Midterm was easy but the final was brutal. Avoid this prof if you can help it.
Lucia was a good prof. Wouldn't post graphical notes on D2L, but textbook notes are enough, don't really need to attend class. No practice finals or midterms, so it was hard to study for big exams. Exam difficulty was alright, not too easy, but not difficult either. Really passionate about Econ, would shout at the class because she got too excited!
Lucia's lectures are very difficult to follow and extremely fast paced for such difficult material. She starts every class by saying how she is happy to see that not many people have dropped the course yet. 1st 2 weeks seem pretty easy, but then it gets really hard. Tutorials and PASS didn't help me enough. 1st assignment was hard, tests are written
She's not a bad prof and she knows her stuff. Assignments are pretty straightforward but it's pretty bad you have to pay like 70 bucks to do them at home online... Also you're not allowed to be on your phone or laptop in class which is kinda strange especially with like 250 people in the lecture. Exams are fair. Prepare to draw a lot of graphs!!!
Does not allow laptops into lecture. would have to ask her for the specifics. She has a slight eastern European accent, but is relatively easy to understand. Textbook is mandatory for online assignments, also recommend reading it. DO NOT SKIP LECTURE! I skipped one class and it set me back a week because I couldn't understand the following stuff.
Wow, that prof is really good at assign graduate level assignment, her assignments are not only difficult but also extremely long, there is no sample for midterm or final. By the way although the difficulty of the exam is easier than the assignment, however, as an average student, the highest score you got will be the lowest in your life. Good luck
Easy A. Easiest Economics course I've taken (other than 201 and 203). She's not the greatest public speaker but theres no assignments, a very simple midterm and final and probably the easiest term paper you will write. Also an interesting course. All notes are posted online and are very self explanatory. Would recommend.
Take this course at a different university, because U of C has no idea what good instruction is. Disconnect between lectures, labs, assignments, exams. Lacks appropriate learning feedback. Math isn't the issue, the instructors will lecture theory and not show procedures, steps or relating graphs, neither does book. Negative attitude from prof.
Funny. Good. Cool and good. Funny and cool.
Just because a professor is extremely difficult and using questionable tactics, doesn't mean she is a good instructor. Be very aware of any instructor that studied under Jeffrey Church. He is even worse than Votassak or Ata.
Terrible prof. Bangs through entire chapters in a single class, she changes slides every ten seconds and constantly draws complex graphs, then erases them to draw new ones, so it's impossible to keep up. Lectures are also extremely boring. Luckily she teaches right out of the textbook so you could probably pass without ever coming to class.
Really interesting class. There are 4 tests and a final. Tests are the same as the practice. She marks hard but fair. Easy grading scale.
explains everything fully in depth, great examples, funny
Her accent makes it hard to learn sometimes, but other than that there are no many drawbacks to her class. All the midterms and assignment questions come straight from the notes and textbook, so it's easy.
pretty easy course. 2 midterms which are very straight forward, aswell as 5 mindtap assignments which are basically tap-in A+ marks. Class isnt mandatory as she just covers the same things the text book does even tho it is not mandatory to buy. She basically spends the duration of the lecture explaining each chapter using graphs and a slides
I've had her for a few classes now and she's great. Definitely makes you work a bit harder than most profs, but you learn a lot more of her from her lectures because of it. If you go to class and do the practice problems/assignments you'll do great in her class.
Very knowledgeable and good instructor. Not an easy course, I felt there was a bit of a divide between the lectures, notes and the actual assignments. Best to show up for class as she doesn't like to repeat herself regarding announcements, & constant review of notes/slides is a must. Assignments were fair and the platform was easy to use
Lucia is a fine professor, the class overall is not that difficult. If you can get over her accent everything is a breeze. People leaving bad reviews honestly just aren't that smart and can't handle a class that requires a bit of work. Midterms were a little long, final was more than fair. Assignments we're also fair.
She's a great prof, sometimes tough to understand because if her accent. She expects you to be respectful in lecture and give 100% focus (don't go on your phone you will regret it, if she catches you). There were 4 tests and a final, all questions are either covered in class or are the easy ones on the problem set so there is no excuse to fail.
Lucia is a great professor, the class requires some effort but it is not that difficult. People leaving bad reviews most likely did not attend class and pass sessions. Midterms were fair and the final was way easier than expected.
Overall, she's a nice lady that cares about her field and gets super passionate about econ. Her accent is thick but understandable and she is clearly knowledgeable. Extremely lecture heavy (textbook recommended) and she doesn't go easy on exams like Tracey does. Not the best, not the worst.
Lucia cares deeply about student success, and made herself very available for office hours so introduce yourself! As a math/physics undergrad, she provides solid mathematical context to lectures so make sure your basic algebra skills (exponents, fractions, etc) are there. DO ATTEND LECTURES (all notes are handwritten). Loved her and the course!
Lucia is very passionate about economics which is great. But I found her tests to be very hard and long. Not a horrible teacher but would not take again
I am personally just terrible at econ, so I had to attend all lectures and read the textbook to pass. If you're fine with econ you'll do fine in this class though. and that's basically what this class is: fine. Vojtassak isn't the most engaging but she's by no means terrible. The assignments online are easy to access and complete. that's all
ECON 373 was my favourite class and Lucia made it that much better. The material is interesting and she made the lectures really fun. My only gripe about her class is that she only had one hour a week for office hours that were shared with other ECON classes so take the course with friends who can help you out if you can.
Attended every class, made an A. Still the worst class I ever had. Negative instructor. Provides no power points and should. Provides no steps or examples. Would never take again.
I though Lucia was a great prof and it is very easy to get a good grade in her class with minimal effort. Her lectures were very easy for me to understand and if anything didn't make sense it could be made up for my reading the textbook. She has a decently thick accent. Midterms easy, the final was tough mainly because of the length of the test.
Needs a serious reminder about customer service in a learning environment and understanding of the investment made by students as well as the fact taxes and tuition pay salaries. Needs a reminder on professionalism in timeliness, attitude, and attention to detail, coursework level.
Lucia is great. She has teaching this course down to a science. She explains things thoroughly, really knows the material, and is good at managing class time. Lots of small assignments, but they aren't too difficult.
She is a good prof but half of the class has failed the first midterm. And for the second midterm people failed as well. There must some issue with proff not with student if you are this bad. She should make her midterm shorter or give more time. Worst class.
She is a good prof. She explains the materials really well but the assignments are PHD. level. They are so long and hard. Long midterms and short time was given
Absolutely love her teaching style, she makes everything sound really interesting. Her assignments are brutal and the only way to pass them is to make friends in the class and ask for help. The exams are actually much easier than the assignments. Some midterm questions are directly from assignments. Attend ALL lectures and tutorials and you pass!
She does allow laptops in her class, she just asks that you sit in the back row so you aren't distracting anyone behind you with whatever is on your screen. Writing tablets are allowed if you have it flat on the desk. The essay is easy, I handed in 4 paragraphs with no references and got 100%. Easy A if you can handle very basic math and graphs.
Lucia put so much effort into making 311 an insightful and informative class. Pay attention in class, do the related problems ASAP, practice, practice, practice and youll do well. Assignments were long, so find the smartest friends. Midterms were a time crunch. Final was fair. Overall loved her teaching style.
Took Econ 357 with her in winter, assignments were bordering on impossible if you're working on them along due to the level of difficulty. Midterms in comparison were easier than assignments but too long for 50 minute intervals, as most in the class didn't finish the first midterm or the final. Attending tutorials are a must if you want to pass.
2nd class with Lucia and wouldn't take 301 and 357 with anyone else. Definitely harder than other profs, but you will learn way more. Pay attention in class, take good notes, and attend tutorials and you should be able to get a good grade. Extremely helpful in office hours as well. Textbook is helpful but not required.
Lucia is an amazing prof, show knows what she is teaching and she loves it, she is clear and always accessible outside the class even for unrelated stuff.
Midterm and final were a time crunch but very easy. Make sure to study the textbook and easy A.
I love Lucia! Shes a very engaging prof, easy to understand and very reasonable! I found the second half of the class a bit harder but I also did not put as much time into the class. Regardless, its an easy class to get an A in. Would definitely recommend taking ECON 201 with her!!
Lucia was a decent prof. She gave students a good understanding of the material without straight up giving us the answers for exams like some profs do. Would recommend!!
Took 301 & 357 with Lucia and it was great! The assignments are tricky but nothing that you're not capable of doing given what's taught in class (make friends to discuss with!!) She is super helpful in office hours. Go to PASS for 301 & go to all tutorials for 357. Tests are fair & she gives bonus marks/takes away questions if majority do bad.
I took ECON 201 which her in spring 2018 and she is absolutely amazing and fair with marking! I will encourage everyone to take her class. She is very enthusiastic about what she is teaching which will make the course itself very interesting!
For an honors course it was a challenge, but as expected. Back to back assignments and tests where at times stressful but kept you on your toes, so material was always fresh. Midterms were a rush cause of the time constraint. Final was fair. Solidify your understanding of the big topics during the semester and you'll be fine. Find good friends!
Pretty useless notes don't help at all with the assignment and "quizzes" as she calls them, even though no one finishes the quizzes on time and are more like midterms. Quiz every 2nd week and assignment every week. Says she has a degree in math and physics but couldn't explain a simple linear algebra proof then proceeds to ask proofs on the tests.
Terrible professor. Rushes through lectures and gives assignments that are overly challenging and so long that you feel like you won't get through them. Teaches the bare minimum and expects stuff on assignments that she doesn't go over in class. Has made my semester terrible so far. AVOID!!
My second time taking an option course with her and I'm in my 5th year now. She is the WORST prof I've had. Excel solutions to problem sets should be in excel to show how it was done. Not in a pdf. Same thing in ECON373. Doesn't give proper solutions. I've spent hours on her assignments since she teaches the simplest versions expecting you to know.
Strongly disagree the way she grades everything midterm, homework etc
ECON301 is a tough course. There is a lot to learn and Lucia does a great job at getting through it in a timely manner while emphasizing the topics that are important. Her assignments are long but very doable. You will have great understanding of the material for the test. Don't be dumb, go to lecture. Also, PASS sessions are free guided studies
This is my third class with Lucia and she is one of my favourite econ profs. She does an excellent job explaining concepts, and is very accessible outside of class. You cannot skip this class however, as she does not post her notes and so much is covered in one lecture. The assignments are difficult, but really help to solidify understanding.
This was by far one of the hardest classes I've taken. Midterm and the final felt so rushed and I would say almost everyone in the class did not finish the final. If there's one thing you take from this is to do the all the problem sets, all of them.
Econ 301 is a very challenging class. Her assignments are lengthy but if you listen carefully in class she gives the answers. They consist of 3 parts; definitions, short answer and 1-2 long answers. Midterms and finals are majority of the assignments (word for word) so if you review material you will do well. Her office hours are very helpful.
Her notes are very clear and she does a great job at explaining concepts with many examples. Assignments can be challenging/long but the examples from your notes and tutorial are very similar. Midterms are also similar to past exams so no surprises.
Hands down one of the best Econ profs at the school. She's a full-time instructor, so has a lot of office hours and is super helpful during them. As long as you show effort on assign, she'll help you figure out the answer during the office hours. Assignments are long/difficult but the exams are much easier. Work through assignments & you'll be fine
I love Lucia. I've taken a few classes with her, and her lectures really are great - she goes through everything using examples so you can always go back to them for assignments. The exams are like the assignments which are like the tutorials, so it's all consistent. She's always accommodating with time and her office hours are super helpful!
Did way worse in this than 357 with Lucia. She wasnt clear about her grading criteria and lost marks on assignment/project because of that. Thought the final was easy but she marked it so hard, what happened to replaced marking and exams for the trouble of online classes. Lucia did not transition to online classes for this and it was self taught.
Lucia is a good prof, who gives clear slides to follow when studying. Although her grading scale for this course wasn't clear for our assignment and group project. The final was easy but it was graded really harshly. The transition to online could've been done better, she could've been more lenient in terms of her grading. But she's a good prof
This course is so tough but lucia teaches it well.i did it online and i liked her course outline the midterm and final werent worth too much so i was able to get a decent grade. Regardless of any prof econ 301 is hard so i would reccommend lucia
Lucia is one of the best profs I have ever had! Every time I'm taking an Econ course I look for her! She's a great lecturer and her lectures are organized. Her assignments are long, but the midterms and final are just like the assignments. The textbook is really helpful too and she usually picks ones you can get for free online.
I would not recommend taking an online class with Lucia. She gives very little time for exams to the point where you do not even have time to think about your answer. Her instructions for the group project were extremely vague and it was impossible to tell what she wanted. Some of the questions on the final were also extremely vague.
Lucia teaches OK but moves very fast through lectures. She acts bossy, is a tough grader and is not very kind to students. She tests heavily on her lecture material, tutorials and additional practice questions she gives you. HUGE workload, but a lot of the questions on the tests were previously given. Do ALL practice questions to survive
If you're taking this class with Lucia, get ready to grind until your hand is incapable of working anymore. She knows this class is tough so she gives outlines and practice questions for every lecture. Also, do the practice questions from the other textbooks she puts as recommendations.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE AS AN ELECTIVE (unless your an econ major then go for it). I took it becuase it sounded interesting and had good reviews. I have never worked so hard in my life for a class. I cried so many times thinking I was going to fail an not get to graduate. The ONLY reason I passed is because I had an amazing tutor and classmates.
I took this class as an elective, but Lucia's teaching is not as great as people say. The tests were very hard & sometimes she teaches them okay & other times its sloppy at best. AVOID.
She's not as bad as other people day! She was super nice and open to student feedback. There were no assignments and the tests aren't that bad if you just do the practice. I thought she maintained a good pace during the lectures and she does a lot of examples. She can be a bit unclear at times for exercises, but they're not for marks anyways.
Lucia is a gem of a prof. Her lectures are engaging and you're hurting yourself if you don't go to them. She grades you on a fair number of things and is very helpful if you ask her for advice on where to go next in your program. Definitely would recommend her classes to a friend.
Lucia is an absolute GOAT!!! Econ 301 is a difficult course, but if you attend her lectures, go to tutorials and pass you will succeed . Make sure you understand all the tutorials and assignments questions as they are repeated in her exams, she's super helpful and wants you to succeed.
Fantastic professor! Almost always available to answer questions and set up meetings. She gives excellent lectures and makes even the most difficult topics relatively easy to understand. Exams are challenging, but she tells us exactly what will be on them. She is definitely one of the best professors in the economics department.
Thanks for giving a extremely difficult final exam and fail lots of people in the class. Econ students, when you see her, run.
Hardest course ever. Assignments are difficult; I'm not sure how the lectures correlated with the tests; everything on the lecture has nothing to do with the tests; she expects you to know maths, lectures lots of theory, but tests came out with all kinds of calculation questions she didn't teach. The class is hard, that's all.
I enjoyed her. She was very good at teaching, however it is hard stuff. I would take her again though.
No textbook or homework answers and you get tested on material she never taught. Very unfair.
Her teaching style is frustrating. Simple concepts are presented in a way that makes them intentionally difficult. She provided practice questions, but no answers so students can't know if they are developing incorrect habits while studying. There are no complete examples of correct test answer formatting, just piecemeal bits across several slides.
She provides practice questions but does not provide answers or solutions for them. And her tests mostly contain questions from those practice questions. So there is no way to know whether you are getting the answers right or not. It all depends on your luck. She is a very very harsh grader. Never taking her class again!
Lucia's class is a real challenge, but Unstuck study can be a lifesaver for exam prep. The practice questions are helpful, though answers would be nice. With focus and the right study tools, you can get through this course.
While Professor Vojtassak's assignments were long and gruelling, her actual teaching and tests were very easy to follow and she did a good job integrating previously learned material with new material to make it easier to comprehend and break down. She and her team of PASS leaders were very available despite her abysmal TA who had weekly tutorials.
The course was extremely challenging due to a disconnect between lectures and exams. Lectures focused on theory, but tests required calculations not covered in class, the exams were heavily based on calculations that weren't sufficiently covered during class. just BAD! and she always make simple things harder, terrible.
Her assignments are very long and time consuming but are insanely helpful for midterms. Her midterm review sessions are very helpful aswell
OK at teaching. This course is demanding, with long assignments and tough tests (many of which have failed). Expectations feel unrealistic. Explanations are often overly complex, making concepts harder to grasp. No study guides or clear test outlines exist, so PASS sessions are crucial. Balancing this class with other responsibilities is difficult.
Frustrating. exams and lectures disconnect, very bad...
She is a difficult professor but very caring. As long as you attend the PASS sessions (underrated), tutorials, and lectures you will be able to do ok in the course. Her midterms are the tutorial questions and assignment questions, so make sure you know those questions well the textbook was more useless and just a filler.
As an econ major, I loved 301 with Lucia. She's clearly passionate about the course and wants people to succeed; she gave me huge hints for assignments during office hours (SO GO TO OFFICE HOURS!) You won't pass if you don't put the time in, but don't be intimidated by what others say. It's a heavy course but really fun :) Exam qs were mostly HW qs
She was loud but it got the key points across. Class average was generally low which lowkey worked out pretty good. Very enthusiastic and passionate about Economics which was great.
ECON 301 material is not hard it is just she makes the class hard. She has weird requirements like mandatory lectures or else she won't post slides, have to do test even though the grade shifts to final if you do there better, not great on email leave you hanging
Do not take a summer course with her even if it's online. The tests are hard and you have to rush through them because she expects you to format it to look nice, create multiple tables, all within 15-20 minutes for each question. Econ 311 is supposed to be a relatively easy course, but the way she cuts marks for the littlest things is ridiculous.
The class could be interesting, but the professor sucks all the life out of it and overcomplicates everything for no reason. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone.
Honestly, just bad. make things DIFFICULT for no reason...
