Just Reads Powerpoint Slides and tells stories
I like her to talk about her marketing experience more than read powerpoint slides. People can't become a good marketer by reading books! I hardly passed her class. I really think she needs to review for the exams because her exams are very hard!!!!
Very straightforward. Study slides and you will get an A.
Dr. Pinter is a good teacher. You should read the book because it helps when answering the questions to the review that she gives. She puts the review questions online. I received an A in the class but it is boring. READ READ READ!
Test are complicated but if you go to class, study her slides and read the assignments you'll be fine. READ! READ! READ! She assigns a partner project that will help your grade and she gives bonus points. For the most part, I enjoyed her class.
Class is boring...she just reads slides. You must study slides and READ the book to make an A. Tests are difficult and 50% essay. Expect to work your butt off.
she seems like a nice lady, but not a very good teacher... she is very boring... she does give a thorough review before the test.. study the review and you should do well on her tests.
You must read the book. Lectures consist of a ppt outline of the chapters. The teacher give good examples and opportunities for extra credit. Tests are about 40% essay and 60% m.c. She is fair but expects you to work. You must study to make an A.
Very nice teacher, just read the book and you'll get an A.
SHE IS GOOD TAKE HER YOU GOTTA WORK FOR IT BUT SHE IS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING VERY CLEARLY AND NICELY
I took Dr. Pointer last Spring and her class was great. She gives reviews for every exams. They key to getting a good grade is studying her slides and coming to class everyday. You'll get at least a B. Plus she gives bonus points.
She is a fair professor. Her lectures can be a little dry until she shares her experiences and tells stories once in a while. Her tests are fair. On the personal level, she is nice. Extra credit is also given throughout the semester.
Good instructor with an easygoing demeanor. Pay attention to the slides and read your book and you should do well. Gives bonus points throughout the course.
Dr. Pointer is a good teacher. Her personal stories enhance your learning experience. I would take another class from her in a second.
TOOK CLASS OVER SUMMER, SHOWED UP ON TEST DAYS AND PASSED WITH A "B" JUST BY STUDYING NOTES...
I have taken her for MKT 4305 and MKT 3301. She is an awesome professor. I enjoy her lectures and like her reviews. I would recommend others to take this class. However,if you are a slacker don't because you do have to read and participate in discussions.
Dr. Pointer is a great professor. She exhibits her knowledge of marketing concepts well. Class is not easy...certainly tests are not easy...but just stick with it and finish . I absolutely recommend her class.
Nice, but overworked & busy. Grades tests fair. Body language & facial expression said she helps students & grades project according to her stereotypes & impressions of them by appearance. Some good students were not treated fairly on this. Would recomend her if you're well dressed & you study hard.
That class was hard b/c u had to read the book very carefully, i recommend everyone to get as much extra points she offers, She has reviews but that helps just to get a c in that class but to make a B or A you need to read the book. Easy c hard B ..
She's a good professor, but very hard. You really really have to work hard. You have to read the book very carefully to pass her tests. I felt overworked and ended up with a B.
Not a bad instructor. Warning! lots of reading. If you don't like to read go to class everyday. Exams are unpredictable; expect the unexpected. Don't understamite projects. Other than that read your butt off....
She is an awesome professor, but very hard. You do learn a lot so you get you money's worth. Read the book very carefully. You have to be very prepared for her tests. Attending class is not enough, you do have to read. I do recommend her if you're up to the challenge. I enjoyed her class.
Dr pointer is very knowledgeble but sometimes forgets she is teaching undergrad. She expects a little too much from her students. She is very hard so you must be prepared. You can't escape in her class with just a little reading. You have to read the textbook in depth at least twice to pass her exams. You will learn alot from her class.
You need to read the chapters and pay attention in class to pass the test. I didn't like her as a teacher because she doesn't accept disagreement or other opinions. I thought I did well on the cases and had a great idea for inventing a new product but she didn't show much interest in my ideas and this affected my grade.
I have taken Dr. Pointer for atleast 4 classes and I think she is great. To get a good grade on the tests DO THE REVIEW SHEET thourghly. She is willing to help you out if you have a legitimate problem but approach her privatley.
Dr. Pointer is a woderful person. She is a hard professor and requires you to do a lot of reading. She gives you a review for her test but they are still hard. I would recommend you to not take her. She is a sweet lady she is just hard.nI think she would do a better job teaching graduate school.
Great professor. Gives a lot of bonus points. Does not drop lowest grade. Does not curve either so study hard for every test. Class is easy if you read material from book and review her slides from class. Highly recommended because she makes class interesting and fun and you'll learn a lot.
Took during Summer. Very nice profeesor. Make sure you particpate in class it helps because she will get to know you. Test have both essay and multiple choice. Study the slides. Lectures are straight from slides. It was a fun class. She is great.
she's really sweet but a hard teacher--her tests are difficult and you have to know every detail in the text to do well same goes for the quizzes (online class)

Dr. Pointer is very cool. I did not like marketing at all before going to this class. She know her stuff when it comes to marketing in every aspect. THIS CLASS GETS 5 STARS *****
Dr. Pointer is a dedicated professor who commits herself to her students. You will have to work and ask questions if you don't understand. She is fair.
boring, test have nothing to do with anything but power point which was hard to read over ITV
Dr. Pointer is very helpful and once you read the chapter and review using powerpoints, its a sure "A"!
Read the chapters, her questions are not tricky it comes directly from the book. If you've read the chapter just use the powerpoints to review. I made a 'B' without trying so hard!
Excellent prof. she has her student's interest at heart. She Knows the material well and appreciates class participation. I agree that you should read before the class to make an A
Her classes were interesting most of the time, she just reads off the powerpoint slides. Tests are hard you should read the chapters to help. Her grading scale is not clear.
This class is pretty boring, but all you have to do is read the powerpoints and do the test reviews to make an A. She doesn't proofread her documents which drives me nuts! I'm tired of teachers who just hand out A's and B's. It makes the school look bad when people who can't even type a 3rd grade level paper graduate.
Well get ready to read. Her test are from a test bank and you will be second guessing all your answers. Dr. Pointer is moody and will snap at you if you are online while she is lecturing. Do not disobey any of her rules because she will embarrass in front of the whole class. Good luck!
Her tests are from the test bank which make them difficult. There are always two or three possible answers "choose the best" YUCK! I HATED THAT! She lectures while using powerpoint slides and she gives test reviews. Overall she is a fair professor.
she is so lazy and has some strange rules. i believe she has some comlexes. she is not good marketing just read everything from powerpoint. don't take this class from her. you will be a big mistake
Terrible. First you should know that I got a B. However she thinks she is always right. Students are always the wrong, lazy, and guilty ones. Whatever you say she feels offended and tries to make you down. Her PP slides are F
If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere! Before I begin, I have to tell you I made a B in her class but that required tons of reading from the book! Her tests questions are extremely tricky and always have more than one reasonable answers, and she's not too interesting. Good luck to you!
Dr. Pointer is a wonderful person and teacher but her tests are extremely difficult. I got a B in the class with hours and hours of study time. Need to know too much minor details.
Teaches from Powerpoint Slides. Tests are tricky-multiple choice/ 4-5 essay w/5pts extra credit. She is head of the Marketing Club. To get on her good side, talk up in class and go to Marketing Club events. Okay presenter and hates it when students surf the net in her class. Sometimes moody.
she is a very good teacher
This Prof. is very oring. all she does is read from powerpoints. She has a very short temper and will snap at you for any reason. She does not tolerate stupid questions and will embarass you infront of class. She does let you earn extra points through out the clas, so take advantage cause ur gonna need them
Pros - Extra credit, case studies. Cons - tests (see previous comments), teacher in class attempt to "single out" students, crowded class.
She is a wonderful teacher. You just have to follow her rules and know the powerpoint slides are you should get an A in the class
Please avoid this class! First off let me say that I have a GPA of 3.5. I studied for the exams, went to class, did all the work and did some of the bonus. Ended up with a C. She just reads from here Power Point slides.
Dr. Pointer shesa rudelady. Especially to those who are quiet or do notparticipate in class.Hertestarehard even though they are multiple choice every question has none of the above or all above and some even have both a andc.It requires alotof reading and dedication. She just goesoverslides in class.Noone liked her in my class.Sodo allextracredit
I loved this teacher. She really makes the class interesting, and always gives you real world examples. Her test are very easy as long as you attend class, and read. She will make sure she learns your name because she wants everyone to participate in discussions.
Despite all the negative ratings, Dr.Pointer is really a good teacher. She does not tolerate lazy students. You have every opportunity to make an A in this class; it is not hard. She is always available and on top of grading papers quickly. She cares about her students, even the lazy ones she will give them an opportunity. You have to show interes
She is one of the most arrogant teachers I have ever met. She HATED me cause I knew marketing. If it wasn't in the book it isn't true in her world. Very biased towards certain students. Her tests are the worst...has a ton of All of the Above, None of the Above, B and C, answers. Just depends on her mood, and she is always in a bad one...
She is a TERRIBLE teacher. She makes fun of people with accents, she makes students who ask questions feel so bad she makes them cry. If you ask her a question, she thinks you are calling her "stupid." She doesn't answer emails. Even though she has opportunities to give bonus points, you usually have to spend money for it. Choose someone else!!
Easy online class. All instructions are full of grammatical errors. I couldn't understand some assignments because of all the errors in the instructions.
OMGosh! Don't take this teacher, your GPA depends on it! Refuses to respond to emails, unavaiable/not there for office hours, rude & makes you feel inferior to you, has no mercy, any extra credit cost you money, 3 test extremely difficult & tricky, a lot B&C,A only, None of the above, all of these...I'm an excellent student & did bad with studying
Ok this class is super easy if you just READ THE BOOK! not skim, READ and KNOW! She gives tons of opportunities for extra credit and tests are not hard if you know the material. I would recommend her, but many students in my class failed because they did not know the material.
She is ANNOYING. 3rd day of my summer class. No sitting on the back row, strictly no drinking, typing noise annoys her, she will send u far away, she is unclear about her homeworks, senior moments, not so happy with her style so far, she reads from her ppt slides, a 2nd grader can do that as well. This is college, not 3rd grade!
Very combating, cannot be told she is wrong on something, even stuff out of her area of profession. she is very rude and comes on to people. I remember this phrase after a class day in which many students got into a collective argument mode with her due 2 her attitude and at the end of it she said "any other feathers i need 2 pluck?" % SHE MEANT IT
please dont take her...she made a student cry because she corrected the professor....if you dont call her DR. she will jump on ya...DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!
I took her class online. She sets out the assignments in the syllabus so you know when things are due. The test is online and is open from Friday morning to Saturday night. No quizzes. She gives a make-up assignment for missed discussions. She has a discussion posting every week. Prompt responses and answers phone calls.
She reads from the ppts, and makes everyone sit in the front rolls for a test. I did poorly in her class but she does have a lot of e.c. avbl but an inconvience w my skld. I got a D, would not recommend bc it will bring down gpa n u have to retake it again. waste of time and money. b careful.
I think Dr Pointer is a fair professor. She expects you to know and understand the material. Her exams a little tough, but they are open book. I have had her for two online classes and the syllabus is clear so that you know when assignments are due. I would take her again.
This teacher is so useless. Her lectures are straight off her powerpoint. If you're the kind of person who reads the book and takes the test then you better be sure you study every single detail, even the small ones because they will be on the test. This class is only hard because she makes it hard with her ridiculously tricky exams.
Seriously guys, Dr. P is not that bad. I have taken her for 2 different online courses and I have done very well. Her syllabus is very clear and her assignments are not overly difficult. I have found Dr. P to be polite and quick to respond to my inquiries. I would recommend her online courses to all marketing majors. Apply yourself and succeed!
Dont expect to just read the chapters once and do well on the exams. You need to study the concepts as the exams are tricky. My other grades suffered due to the time I had to spend studying for this class. Also Dr.P is never wrong so don't even try to prove that she is. You will lose.Despite the toughness, she is fair. You will learn from her.
She makes her tests so tricky and irrelevant that you would think you were answering questions of a story. She would ask questions from the smallest details of the book not even related to the topic. If you like multiple-choice tests then you've taken her's. She includes options such as none of the above and all of the above in the same question!
I'm an A student and had a difficult time with this class. Even after studying all the material,it was impossible to get an A on the Exams. They were unnecrssarily tricky and tested your test taking abilities instead of the material. I planned on minoring in Marketing but she made me change my mind. Do not recommend.
She gives 3 exams and a final. the final is out of 150. she gives a lot of extra credit. a project, a problem set, 5 quizzes, and 3 cases you need to analyze. Her Grade is by points not percent.
Tests are hard but overall the class was okay. She is a fair grader, gives extra credit but she can be a bit rude sometimes. She knows her stuff. I would recommend with caution.
She is okay, exams are hard,Connect Quizess are helpul, you have to read the book. She gives alot of extra credit.
Great professor!! There are tons are quizzes and assignments. She does what she can to help you make a good grade in her class. Beginning quizzes were at home, but the last two were in class. Test were kind of hard and tricky. She takes row, so definitely have to be in class.
3 week mini-mester - Easy to understand class layout. Well defined expectations. Tests are extremely long but straight from the book. I would highly recommend this class and professor for a mini-mester.
mini-mester class. class was well definded but subjective grading was inconsistent. received a perfect grade on my first assignment, but dropped from there. when I asked for help with her grading methods she said she'd explained herself already. what?!? thanks for the help. ugh.
Lost of busy work. Major paper, 3 exams and final, weekly discussions, 4 cases, extra credit, but overall good class online.
Do NOT recommend.Although knowledgeable, she goes over ppt line by line, explains only 20% of material in depth, u are on your own to read the book n understand the rest.Tests are a bit tricky, some unimportant questions.Does not provide any feedback-you take tests/quiz n never learn right answers to the ones u missed.Gives vague answers.
overall decent teacher. tries her best to keep class entertained. had 830 am class so it was hard. lol. only thing i would complain about is that the exams are not tricky if you know your material, however the study guide covers the whole book! you dont know what to focus on! which makes the exam tricky.
Dr pointer is a very smart, sweet, and most definately caring professor at uhd unlike other professors does her best to pull you through the course, one thing is that she needs to update her slides and study guides, overall my best experience in the business college... HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. POINTER!
very nice lady! LOVE Dr. Pointer!
do NOT recommend taking her. her exams are hard. Regardless of you studying hard prior to her exams, they are very hard. only would recommend if MARKETING IS YOUR MAJOR.
Took hybrid class. Prof. has industry knowledge. But, covers just sliver of info in class. PPt info is just tip of iceberg of what test covers; need to scour chapters for test prep.Online tests time-limited & filled w/ time-consuming, tricky, irrelevant questions. Prof. sarcastic, defensive, not very helpful. Would NOT take again or recommend.
do not take her: whats the point of relying on her powerpoints in class if you are to memorize the book for upcoming tests and quizzes? she is very hard, her tests are very very tricky. People need to stop sugarcoating those bad teachers. I was surprised that her class was full at the beginning of the semester. pple dropped her later.
Overall she was a okay teacher! Her powerpoints in class DID NOT MATCH the test. Buy the book and read for yourself! Her test were 75 questions with not enough time. YOU WILL RUN OUT OF TIME!
Do not recommend. Very confusing, what is lectured has nothing to do with tests. Test/quiz content is poorly worded. There is no room for discussing differing opinions only hers counts and if you speak up you will be shut down quickly. I am used to working hard for my grades but that didn't help here.
There's 4 tests (no comprehensive final), a 10 question timed quiz for every chapter, a few case studies, and a group research project. If you want to get an A, I suggest you do the learnsmart because she doesn't give study guides. She does give enough extra credit opportunities. Not an easy A but still a great class.
Dr Pointer is a great lecturer and knows her stuff. Her grading on case studies is tough, she does expect you to be thorough. Tests are tough, but they are based on her lecture more with some txtbook references. Book is important for the Connect, read well! you only have 10 min per quiz! 1 group project, make sure you get started early on it!
She took over class from professor that died a couple days before class started. Took a while to get into a groove. She is really knowledgeable, but you must read and participate. 1 group project, 3 tests, homework is due before tests. Very opinionated, but made for interesting discussions in class. Will work with students struggling to pass.
She is very disrespectful and you can't talk over her. In my college life, I have never had such a disrespectful professor and believes she's superior than you. Theres no need to look down on your students we pay you and we want to have a pleasant semester not unpleasant. Her test are hard and long, she will not give you extra time.
Just as bad as any other prof. at UHD. Useless lectures since test are almost the opposite. She picks on students and has a very bad attitude. If you like to be humiliated, go ahead take her. Only gives you 10 minz for online quizzes(10 question, each quiz). Thank god im done with her. If was to rate her out of 10, she will get a 0 from me.
Her class is very fun which a total contrast from her grading criteria and critiques. If you have no option than to take her, my apologies because there was nothing you could do, but if you do have the choice, and you have worked hard for your grades thus far, RUN. the future of your grades are at stake.
A lot of work, on-line and really hard tests. The tests are simply brutal, no way to prepare for them because a question is based on some obscure sentence that wasn't covered in homework, or quizzes, or smart learning on connect. Memorize the book, its the only way to get an A. This class is the only 'C' on my transcript. I am an 'A' student.
Dr. Pointer is a fun teacher just be respectful and dont interrupt while she lectures
Brutal grading on vague assignments that are due every week. Lectures are completely useless towards exams. Exams cover fine print information from textbook instead of the actual concepts. If you are not intending to be a Marketing major take another professor. This amount of classwork for this professor is more than two of my classes put together.
Horrible Professor. You'll do better reading on your own, learning by yourself. She's one of those professor who could careless if the mass majority of her class is failing as long as she gets paid at the end of the day, who cares if students aren't grasping the material. DO NOT TAKE HER if you have the option. Worst professor I've ever taken.
Hardest class I have ever taken, including my nursing courses I took when i was in nursing school. I haven't passed any of the tests, because we dont learn anything in the course. I read the book, and 5/50 questions were actually from the book. WORST CLASS EVER.
DO NOT TAKE HER if you work, have kids, are taking others classes, have a family, or any kind of social life. This is the kind of professor that teaches like this is the only class that matters in life and none of your other classes are relevant. She makes up her own test which may or may not be from information in the book (more often not).
Never take class with her. The assignments are graded by assistant professors and they make mistakes. I had to email 3 times because I was graded wrong and my grades were mixed up with someone else. The syllabus is not clear. I got first C of my life for this class.
Not recommended. There were quizzes at the beginning of most classes so if you're late, you miss those points. The test are extremely hard (a lot of scenario-based questions she makes up). Most of the people in my class didn't pass a majority of them. Unclear directions for assignments. Lectures don't have much to do with test. Read everything!
the Section leader was Priya Jayasankar she was horrible!! shes a horrible grader and is rude. stay away from her at all cost. course is really easy if you read the chapter and watch the videos but the in class assignment and the group projects she's super tough grader and discussions and all
I wish I could give this professor a better rating but just like everyone else DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU DONT HAVE TO! Expect to not have a social life. This class with this professor feels like you're taking two classes in one. There is so much work she assigns each week. The last exam was a week before the final!
This felt like two classes in one! I wouldnt recommend anyone take her course! The work load is Ridiculous and they are tough graders! Close to 60 assignments due from blackboard, connect assignments, discussions, learn smart assignments, group project, 4 exams plus final. Worse class Ive taken thus far! DONT DO IT!
Spring 2018 Online - 4 test, then final, mcgrawhill connect assignment, discussions, assignments, quizzes, group project. Not bad class not complex
This class is no cake walk BUT if you follow the syllabus , do every assignment and turn work in on time, you will pass. Her test are hard because she doesn't give reviews and there are so many ch. on every test. But if you learn the objectives she gives for every ch, you will pass the test. She gave a review for the final, that was a plus.
Very intense for 3 wks. Having said that, there is a lot of work to cover, but the assignments are not difficult. Test are hard, because you dont have a review. The final was easier than the exams. Assignments, 4 test (does not drop), 1 final. Dr. Pointer was very responsive to emails. You'll have to work hard to get an A, but not impossible.
Summer 5 weeks Online - 4 test with lockdown browser, then final at UHD tetsing center, mcgrawhill connect assignment, discussions, assignments, quizzes, group project. She is a VERY tough grader. LOTS of homework for a 5 weeks class. Tests are different for everyone. 2 attempts each, lowest drops. Final only 1 attemp.
3 wk class, Connect quizzes and assignments, weekly test, weekly assignment, 1 group project, final is 100 qs but easier than tests - will repeat some test Qs. Gives grading feedback and responds in a timely manner. Overall she is great. Lots of busy work but you will learn if you apply yourself and she is not that tough.
If you like Chinese History and love to read then be my guest. This professor is a tough grader, always have serious face, very low sense of humor, not that helpful when it comes to office hours. Serious attendance taker and be ready to talk very literal and specific. Not even a lenient grader as well. Some people even cheat in her class.
The amount of work for this class is overwhelming! Every week you'll have discussion post, learn smart, and a quiz. 4 test and 100 question final. She posted the review for final one day before taking the exam. Test are hard & group project due at the end of semester. Grades out of 1240 point scale; even after failing exams I still passed class.
I was so scared to take this professor because of all the comments of how a tough grader she was. But she was the only professor I could pick from. I honestly liked her teaching a lot. I don't think she is a tough grader at all! She tells you what she wants and what she is looking for in the work she gives and if you have a doubt she answers quick.
I want to do well in school and am willing to work for it, but this class was one of my worst. The assignments and expectations weren't very clear but everything was graded off of specific requirements and criteria. She seemed friendly and helpful at times but then defensive and harsh at others. Didn't learn a lot and was stressed the whole time.
This class is annoying. There's a lot of written assignments, disc posts, connect LS/quizzes, 4 exams (lockdown browser + video cam), and then a 100 question final (testing center). The assignments are doable, but the exams are unpredictable. You ONLY get a review on the final. (Didnt do well on the exams, but still managed to get a B overall)
This class is not as hard as everyone in the comments make it seem. 1 discussion, connect quiz & assignment per week. Do your discussions and connects as they are worth a big chunk of the grade. Her powerpoints and videos are a big help for the tests. If you do all the work you can get an easy A. shes also very responsive to your concerns.
I just finished this class with instructor Cordovi, this class is not hard as everything said, it just has a lot of small assignments which if you dont do you'll get a bad grade because they are worth more than the tests which are 4% Their grading is fair, I did and submitted all my work, received 80s in tests and project did well, I made an A.
Lecture and homework heavy. Comprehensive final over ton of material. Exams are broken down into too many topics and material. Exams cover both the terms and the data that is given to you. Team project throughout the semester. Better hope your teammates are competent. The material is not hard and the class is straight forward.
The workload is heavy in this class but gives you opportunities to work up your points. Professor Pointer cares about her students and provides good feedback, and responds quickly regarding any concerns or grade disputes. Her lectures and powerpoints are very helpful when studying for tests!
Hard to get a response from her on any questions. Tests questions are horrible and I question their relevance to knowing the concepts. Group projects, yes plural. Not a lot of explanation on how she wants documents formatted and then when you turn them in she burns you on it.
You have 4 exams in Lockdown Browser the final is 100 questions in class. Four cases and quizzes and homework at McGraw Hill Connect. You will have a group project good luck if you get put on a group that is laidback then your grade will suffer.
Super knowledgeable and interesting, the only downside is there's a big group project towards the end of the semester. all you have to do is read the chapter before class so you have an idea before the lecture. exams are easy, just focus on what she repeats a lot!
There is a lot of work in this class. 4 tests and a final. 4 tests are done at home with recording. final exam is proctored. 1 group project that can be done individually. lot's of bonus work to make up for anything missed. weekly connect homework, quizzes, discussions and sometimes exams. overall, if you can handle the work you will do well.
I took an online class for marketing; 4 tests and 1 comprehensive final, & a project. Test are very tricky, no way of telling what tests are focused on. DO ALL THE BONUS QUIZZES AND & BONUS Project! Made a B on 4 tests, A on final, and bonus points helped me to get an A+ as my final grade. Heavy work, and dont expect teacher to help... at all!
I love this professor. She does give lots of assignments yet, she is on top of everything. She will not let you fail. She cares so much about her students. TAKE HER!
I'm warning you.. don't take her, she gives tons of work, she is rude and class contest is all over the place. 4 test and a final without clear instructions about what to study to prepared you for the tests. Protected tests with camera. If you do not understand Marketing well, you will score low on exams.
Professor Pointer in my experience wasnt informative or useful. She uploaded videos and PowerPoints that was all we ever got from her. She never gave us a guide or a review for exams. She doesnt seem to care about her students honestly, she just lets you do your thing and all you get back from her is feedback on your assignments.
mini-mester 06/07 -07/10. 18 chs to study for proctored no notes final. gr project. Weekly: 2 discussion posts, connect 4/5 chs quiz & concepts, proc/test. Gives a lot of info, pps & videos, that would help in a regular semester, in a mini it was overwhelming. never got higher than a 65 on tests, didn't do 1 hw, could've made a B- with that hw.
She may come off strong like a rude person, but she is just trying to help. Her lecture may be boring but you could pass the class without going to the class even though I suggest to go because she gives activities some days. If you have hard time with the class, just go to her office and talk to her about it. She will definitely help you.
Took this professor for MKT 3304, she makes you read a lot of connect homework for a large part of your grade. She included a makeup assignment at the end of the course, and then does not even include a due date on it and closes it. When you message her about her mistake of not including a due date, she will just end the conversation.
Dr. Pointer was great. She is organized, approachable and an expert in marketing. Her lectures can be a bit heavy and homeworks are through connect so they require a lot of time. Attendance is very important as she does have in class assignments. Her tests are ok as long as you read the textbook and do homeworks. Don't slack and you will do fine.
Overall she is good at teaching however most lectures can be summed up if you read the book, definitely read and do the connect assignments or you will fall behind, group project is graded heavily towards your grade so don't bs it
Professor Pointer...man, okay I tried to keep giving her the benefit of the doubt, but lord. She has so many assignments through Mcgraw that take up so much time, there is no formula review for exams (even if you watch the posted video lectures/powerpoints), the feedback given on assignments are just kind of rude, you have been warned ha.
SB & quizzes, weekly discussions. Group project @ the end. Ethics essay & a couple of short assignments. Test on lockdown mostly on quizlet.
Horrible quality professor. So much work but yet you do not learn anything. The exam questions are trash. If you work INCREDIBLY hard you can receive a B. There is no way you could take other classes while taking hers. Because of her class, I will never trust this website. It is obvious that she writes her own great reviews since it is a mkt class.
Took her for the summer course. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER! She assigns 18 chs to study and the exams are proctored. If you plan to take another class with this one do not. She required all of your attention. The final was 100 questions, if you are lucky and work really hard you will get a B. Just find another professor and save yourself all the stress
This professor deleted my last review, and here I am again. She was too complicated and not helpful, made the final 100 questions plus two writing exams additional. Her final project was very extesive and given last minute. She was condescending, and would not explain why my answers where wrong.
Fall 8-week online: Exams every 2 weeks + final. 4-5 2hr+ long SmartBooks + quizzes due every 2 weeks, 9 DBs, 7 assignments, and a project. AVOID if you're working full-time and/or taking other courses. Tough grader; the class averaged 60s-80s on her MC exams (no test reviews). Also assigns HW on holidays. Would NOT recommend to anyone.
Most organized prof at UHD; everything is posted Day 1 NO EXTENSTIONS. Exams worth less than homework. You cannot afford to miss assignments. Most homework I've gotten since HS but it's easy (abt 4 hours biweekly). You have to buy Connect for the HW and exam. To make an A on the exams and final, read through the Glossary at end of the textbook.
Very work load heavy but you actually end up learning!
Highly recommend for MKT majors bc she is knowledgeable, respected, and cares to see that you understand the material. She is old school. No laptops in class. Sit at the front. Do your hw on connect BEFORE class (which is a lot) or at least do the key terms before to get an A for participation. Ask questions. Show up. Do the work. CANNOT BE LAZY!!
4 week mini - 18 chapters, 4 HR SB assignments per chapter, 1 quiz per chapter 10 Questions/10 mins. 2-3 Discussions per week, 1 Group Project - takes a lot of your time. 1 Exam per week on lockdown browser and a Final Exam on ProctorU or in class with a person watching you. Responsive but her answers are vague. Do not take her for a mini course.
Not good. Everything she teaches is straight from the textbook, but you must attend class to do dumb interactives. Boring lectures to sit through. Provides no real value to the material. Should be an online only prof. Lots of "busy work", little value in the work you do. Project would be fun if not for her crapping on your work (not constructive!)
I signed up for her 5 week summer course two days later than everyone else, requiring Dean approval and she had no compassion or grace to offer for the very first, minuscule assignment due when Canvas would not populate the course on my account yet. Not tech savvy, was unaware and not solution oriented. Very textbook and jaded in her career.
Not tech savvy. Horrible at responding, and requires Connect assignments due each week as a 5 - Week Summer class. Connect requires 1 chapter (50-100 questions) and 1 quiz each chapter. Attendance is required. C aca to the max. C aca on work that was submitted successfully. C aca on everything.
who hired this professor. Need information, because it is not a good idea to have her at University of Houston - Downtown
I was taking her for a summer class 4 discussions, 4 smartbooks, 4 chapters, 4 video lectures, a 50 question proctored test every week, with a proctored final, and a group project. I was expecting a lot of work but her setup is ludicrous. Ive never taken a summer class with this much to do and arranged so strangely. Many other people dropped.
Poorly taught for summer class. Overall class consists Chapters 1-18 on McGraw Hill Connect each chapter has one quiz and one homework (60 times 2 equals 120 q), 4 split class modules that deal with chapters 1-18 to help on Exams 1-4 throughout semester, 1 Group project Product (3 max members), In class activities weekly, Final in person 100 quest
This bihh passed with me with a failing grade and Took the final exam she was ahh.
Very knowledgeable, caring, but gives out too much irrelevant homework for no reason. Boring discussions every week. Final exam was hard. Group projects were meaningless. She brings up her trips around the world a lot. We get it, you went to spain. Move on.
i would avoid taking. Multiple assignments due every week. In person final exam. Group project that had to be a paper, and powerpoint. Very hard for summer class.
Intense course with loads of assignments and tests. Attendance is mandatory, and the professor can be rigid. However, Unstuck ai helped me stay on top of the workload and prepare for exams. Overall, a challenging but manageable class.
So disappointed in this Professor. Dr. Pointer has extensive course work for her class. She grades very hard, like we're not students and didn't just learned this information 5 minutes ago. She needs a reality check.
If you are taking her class let me tell you, you will learn because you have to put all your attention in her class. As a full-time worker and full-time student, I do not recommend taking her since you have to have at least 5 hours per week to pass her class with an A+. She is "old" school and not very comprehensive.
She truly brings insight from her many years in the marketing industry as well as a professor. Wealth of knowledge!
Unnecessary amount of work even for 16 weeks. Very tough grader and will pick at every single thing you do. Most of the assignment are merely busy work. Discussions are pointless and offer no insight. She doesn't provide any reviews and there is a major project due at the end of the semester, also very time consuming and pointless.
Grading is unnecessarily strict with no clear grading criteria. Points deducted if you don't mention the name of the student you are replying to, use the incorrect formula, or formulate an "incorrect" opinion on an assignment post. Assignment due dates are very strict (open and closed the same day). Take another instructor if you can.
Terrible class. Too much information to go over. Too many chapters for one test. Her grading is terrible. Knit picker. I don't recommend this course. Waste of money. Class is harder than it has to be.
