Terrible proff, controls all aspect of the lecture and directs discussion instead of allowing free though and creativity. She will fail your essays if you do not regurgitate exactly what she says in class instead of allowing you to come up with new connections and insight - that she will tell you is wrong and that you must have misread the text. Should not be teaching a first year course, she destroys all essay and discussion-wise confidence.

Definition of the stereotype, "What I say in class is what I want on your paper". If you differentiate from her views spoken in class she will grade harsh. If you say what she wants you'll be graded pretty easy. Save your controversial opinions for another prof.

Best English Prof Ever! I actually learnt so much about English in this class. She actually makes you a better writer in all aspects. Not biased in marking. Participate. Not an easy A, but definitely an approachable one.

Lucinda Rasmussen was the first English professor that actually gave me helpful critiques on my essays. Although she does not give easy marks, she makes you a better writer and wants you to succeed. She is also extremely flexible and caring. I really recommend her.

Lucinda is a really wonderful lady who is very passionate about her work! She is a bit tougher of a grader but it is evident that this is because she wants to push her students to be the best they can be! She give excellent feedback especially when asked and was always willing work with me to find a time to meet that worked for me! Great prof!

125 is not a breeze, the lecture was amazing and the content was interesting! We learned about the rationale behind Indigenous literature. Expect extensive reading and essay writing - I invested so much time, and the final (2 lengthy responses and 1 essay in 2 hour) was quite a challenge for me. Always seek her office hours for valuable assistance!

Lucinda is an amazing individual. She truly cares about each student and their success. She will provide lots of help if you seek it out, and is just a very kind person. Not an easy grader, but it really helps you improve. If you put the work in and build a relationship with her, you'll enjoy her class.

She's extremely pragmatic. Her course structure is interpretive and her rubrics may as well leave you guessing entirely what to do for assignments. Lucinda lacks structure and organization, she's gung ho, despite that she is very strict with you. Her "authorial perspective" prevents her from seeing validity in your writing if its not what she likes

The content is about indigenous literature, which is very new and interesting to me. Lucinda is a very nice prof, and her lectures are not boring at all, but be prepared to read a lot, and write 2 papers, 5 short essays, 1 midterm (1 essay in 80 minutes), and 1 final (2 long answers + 1 essay in 2 hours), the course load is heavy but manageable.

Lucinda is a great prof. She is truly passionate about what she is teaching and cares about her students. However, the assignments require a lot of effort and time. They are doable but I would recommend going for another prof if you have a heavy course load and are not wanting to put in too much work for a course that's probably a requirement.

Dr. Rasmussen is a nice person, but I found her criteria unclear and her grading somewhat unreasonable and too strict. In previous 100-level english courses I have done substantially better than I did in Lucinda's class. I felt as though her standards for how she wanted her students to do in her class were low, which is reflected in her grading.

very responsive and gave good feedback, but a bit disorganized and lacked professionalism at times (i.e class started routinely 3-5 minutes late), self-contradictory in saying that she doesn't agree with the department mandating exams, but also gave us 2 hours for the final when she could've given us 3, led to more time pressure
