STUDY FOR TESTS.. INTERESTING TEACHER

Excellent teacher. lectures are great. Just make sure you study for his tests and you'll be fine.

you will like coming to class he makes it fun and he plays the devils advocate really well...makes you think just study for test and you'll do fine

Being a first year, I thought taking his two hour lectures would be too much, but I love them. The lectures feel more like a conversation & I've already learned so much. Study for the quizzes and everything else will fall into place!

He's very nice, he will never pick on you but if you participate he does appreciate it. Don't ask stupid questions though. He will make you think and analyze things very hard. His tests are alright, he is a very hard grader on writing assignments. READ EVERYTHING HE TELLS YOU TO READ! His notes are awesome he gives you everything that's on the test

He talks fast and doesn't typically go back. No computers allowed in class (unless you've got clearance from the DRC), so write quickly and get used to some short hand. That being said, he's a fantastic professor. He really knows what he's talking about and wants you to, as well. No textbook, no homework. 5 quizzes and 2 written papers.

I took Professor Bohon's course my first quarter of my first year in Pomona and he definitely set really high standards for what courses should be like. His lectures are full of information so attendance is pretty important. He's very organized and his quizzes make sure you're learning. best class I've taken.

His lectures are interesting and are what you learn from, no textbook. Two novels were used in the class as supplements so attendance is essentially mandatory. Really enjoyed class and teacher although he can be a harsh grader on the two essays/papers you do. 5 quizzes, 2 papers, and a final. Highly recommended if you want a challenging class.

Mr Bohon is a very clear and straight forward professor if you don't study you want pass. Make sure you do the writing assignments early so he can give you feed back. I would definitely take him again.

Tests are easy if you study the vocab given during the lecture. It's a class where you earn your grade and learn a ton. One of the best classes I've taken, lectures are amazing and really interesting. Highly recommend!!

You have to show up in order to understand. Dont fall behind. The quizzes are really hard and the final is insane. There is a lot to remember. Not an easy GE you have to work for it. Go to office hours, the 2 projects are moderately hard

Highly recommend. Somewhat hard but if you put in the work you will be fine. The course consists of two writing assignments 2-3 pages each, 5 quizzes, a final and two of the quizzes require you to read two books while the other quizzes require you to read articles he gives you (reading these articles are key)

Very organized lectures, gives oral study guide with 90% of the quiz questions, and lively lectures. Very enjoyable class. 2 papers (tough grader) and 5 quizzes. No textbooks but you have to read 2 novels. The quizzes have a lot of material on them but if you show up and take good notes you'll do fine.

There are two written assignments and he is a tough grader. He does not allow any phones, computers, or tablets. There are long reading that will be on the test as wel as 2 books. His quizzes are carbon copies of the lectures and the writing assignments are simple. Just show up to class, pay attention, and study the day before the quizzes and it's an easy b.

He's not that bad of a professor. I learned a lot from him. The quizzes are pretty straightforward. He does grade hard on the papers. However, if you show up to his office hours it will benefit you for the writing assignments. 5 quizzes; cumulative final but if you did well on the quizzes you should be fine. Use flashcards, it helped me a lot.

Expect to read articles, write a few essays, and attend all lectures. Participation matters, but trust me, it's worth it. He's one of the best professor's I've ever had. Lectures are interesting and he can be pretty funny. The material itself isn't hard, it's just the workload that can be challenging. Manage your time wisely.

I thought this class was extremely doable. He is an extremely tough grader on the two papers. There are 5 quizzes each worth 100 points (he drops the lowest one). He gives you EVERYTHING you need to succeed in this class! If you dont study, thats on you but I did not find this class to be challenging.

He's actually a pretty good teacher. His class makes me feel like i'm learning a lot and he makes his lectures very interesting. There are two papers you write and he does grade it pretty hard but he just wants to help students prepare for essays you write in other classes. If you go to every class, take good notes and study you will pass.

Amazing professor. His lectures provide good information and he gives many examples to help the class understand the material better. Theres 5 quizzes, 2 writing assignments, and the final. He drops the lowest quiz grade. He grades the writing assignments tough, I highly recommend to see him during office hours before turning them in.

He does several quiz's every other week on a lot of material. No midterm. Quiz's consist of 75 questions. 50 are multiple choice and 25 are short answer response. MUST attend class in order to pass. The course is lecture based but he doesn't post the lectures online so you have to attend. 2 papers are required and worth more than quizs but are easy

Very good teacher, but you have to really work hard to earn the best grade possible. I would spend almost four hours reading the articles and reading materials he assigns you. Overall, he was a really helpful teacher and listened to his students if you went to his office hours. He grades really tough on these two writing assignment worth 20% grade.

this is a really hard class and he tells you that on the first day. he has 5 quizzes, the lowest one is dropped, two papers, and one final. everything that you need to know for the quizzes are in the lectures and he tells you what you need to study. be present to every class or take a picture of someones notes. it's also very informative.

Professor Bohan was the toughest GE teacher I ever had but his class was the only GE I ever truly enjoyed. He grades really tough on his papers but go to his office hours and he will help you out. He says he doesn't curve the class but I ended up getting a B- with a 78%. I would take him again if I had the opportunity.

Professor Bohons lectures are pretty interesting. He tries to incorporate jokes and other factors to make it less boring. However, it is presentation and lecture heavy. His test are fairly easy, most questions are based on lecture. Read the articles he has us read. He has two papers. I highly recommend going to his office hours for him to help.

Bohon is engaging and keeps students interested. There are 5 quizzes (drops the lowest) and 2 papers (he grades harshly). The final is 150 questions cumulative, but not difficult at all. He doesn't post lecture slides. No textbook necessary, you read 2 books and lots of online articles, which take lots of time (these are only needed for quizzes.)

Professor Bohon was very informed and passionate about PLS. He incorporates jokes and activities to keep the class engaged which helps information that is on his tests retain in your mind. That being said, his two essays that are around 50% of your grade are very difficult, and needs research to pass with a b or above on them. Overall fun class.

Great class!!!! No-nonsense lectures. Show up, take notes, and you'll get an A or B. Doesn't post slides online so you're forced to learn. Evident passion and enthusiasm for his subject, which is nice. Grades 2 assignments very harshly. 5 quizzes, lowest one dropped. I cannot recommend professor Bohon enough.

Great professor. very professional and a wonderful class. Heavy quizzes but he prepares students very well.

One of the best professors Ive had in my 3 years at cal poly pomona. Not an easy A but you will definitely learn a lot from taking his class. Class consists of 5 quizss which are easy if you actually study for them, and 2 essays that are fairly hard so you HAVE to start them early and ask for help on them.

He has to be my favorite professor so far. His lectures are funny and make gov easy to understand. He has a PowerPoint every class containing the answers word for word for his tests. All you have to do is study and youll do well. He is a tough grader on the papers though so you need to go to his office hours before the due dates to get good grades

Professor Bohon is someone who knows what he is teaching. He doesn't waste time with lectures, gets right to the point. If you show up and take notes, you're secured at least an 85 on each of the quizzes. Lowest quiz score is dropped. READ THE ARTICLES! His two writing assignments are harshly graded, so go to office hrs. Overall enjoyed his class

Professor Bohon was an excellent professor. His lectures were filled with great examples and keeps students interested. He tells you exactly what to expect on the quiz and is always willing to help students during his office hours. He has a no phone policy but I didnt even mind, his lectures were so intriguing. He really knows his stuff. 10/10

If you want an easy class, don't take him. If you're lazy and have a mindset that you're taking the class just for a GE, do not take him. He's not a bad professor by any means, and definitely understands what he's talking about. As long as you go to class, TAKE REALLY GOOD NOTES, and study you'll get an A. Also for his 2 papers, ask him for a bill.

He was easily my favorite professor, thus far. His lectures are not boring and he's just a funny guy. I recommend making flashcards for each test! It really helped me and I averaged an A- on all the quizzes. For the 2 writing assignments, I got A's without going to his office hours, so it's totally possible! Just take time on it and study a lot!

Dr Bohon is very knowledgeable in his expertise: political science. He explains the material in a very concise manner which makes it easy to understand his lectures. Will answer questions and is super helpful in office hrs. However, his class is not an easy GE. Essays are graded hard and quizzes can be tough due to reading. He gives a lot of work.

This is what I expected college to be as a first year student, he is an EXTREMELY knowledgeable professor. Lecture based class, quizzes is all based off of notes. Attendance is not mandatory but it is recommended, getting notes from someone is not the same as attending class and listening to the lectures. A lot of effort & studying for this class!

If you can look past his sorta dry personality, Bohon is great. DONT SKIP LECTURES. What he lectures is exactly what is on every test, & if you do all the readings & study you will ace them. He does grade tough on writing assignments, but doing well on the tests makes this insignificant in final grades. Overall, loved his class.

He is a very cool professor and his lectures are very interesting. Make sure to take good notes and make flash cards. His quizzes are all based on his lecture and the readings/podcast he has on his syllabus. Also do not procrastinate on the writing assignment and go to his office hours for feedback before you turn it.

Great teacher overall. Strict with phones, and if caught and warned multiple times, you will be asked to leave. For the quizzes, majority of answers are from the lectures during class, but you are instructed to read several articles from The Atlantic and podcast provided from syllabus. Two books required to purchase. Don't ignore the readings

Lectures are super interesting. Quizzes are like 75 questions but they're all questions from his lectures, so take notes ESP. WHEN HE SAYS IT WILL BE ON THE QUIZ, and you should get like around a B at the least if you pay attention to his lectures. Only can get help through office hours, but he's super helpful. If you want a nice, caring professor he isn't it. Not a difficult class if you actually watch the lectures. He has 5 quizzes, 1 writing assignment, and a final exam. So far I've done 3 quizzes and the writing assignment. He hasn't graded my written assignment but I have a B right now. He also drops the lowest score of all the quizzes. I like it!

If you already have a solid background in American Gov, Bohon is a good choice. His class was asynchronous, so don't skip out on the lectures, readings and podcasts he assigns. (Podcasts are actually interesting!) If you are not a solid writer, beware of his letter to House Rep/Senate. That assignment is what tanked peoples grades at the end.

He is very strict for no reason but honestly he gets his job done. Although he can seem very intimidating, he does his job well. He explains the content and lets you know what things are going to be brought up in the exams. Make sure you take VERY GOOD notes and you study them. He isn't very flexible so be aware of that.

Don't take the negative reviews serious. I've had bad professors this year but this class is very easy, there is no homework except quizzes, which are literally all based on the lectures and readings. The paper assignment is quite difficult but he gives your weeks to do it. If you think this class is hard, college isn't for you

Honestly, he's the professor you're warned about when starting college. Easy GE? Nope, you have to work for it. However, material was presented extremely direct and would mention important points for exams. Drops worst grade. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE THE LETTER TO REPRESENTATIVE.

Prof. Bohon is an exceptionally engaging professor who lives by a no cell phone rule. His lectures consist of vocabulary and ideas that are directly on the test, as well as readings. The only assignments for the class are a letter to a representative, 5 tests, and a cumulative final. Highly recommend over other professors

The course is lecture-based and no technology is allowed. There is one writing assignment, however, where you have to write to your congressman/senator on a bill. Do not put it off, I searched through FOUR HUNDRED bills just to find TWO that I could write on because of his restrictions. But quizzes are lightwork, that is, if you study correctly.

If you want a class where you will learn and be engaged I suggest this class. I enjoyed the memes and jokes he would put in between the slides. There are tests spaced out every two or three weeks after the first so manage your study time. Im a major crammer so I suffered and only studied the day before the tests but I still enjoyed the class a lot.

As long as you read the mandatory articles and watch the mandatory "fun" videos as he calls them, you can pass all his quizzes easily. Take your time studying and making flashcards, also in your writing project. He has lots of restrictions on what bill you can write about so be aware of that, hes a great professor and would recommend.

Great class, great professor, and good lectures. He does go a little fast but he makes everything that you need to take note of clear. Quizzes r made up of lectures and some articles that u need to read but r not difficult. There is a letter assignment that is BIG so don't miss it. Some of his quiz may seem like a lot but if u study then ur good

If you have any resemblance of study skills and an interest in the topic, you can survive. 5 quizzes, the lowest scoring quiz will be dropped. The final is a collection of the questions on the quizzes. The hardest assignment is a letter to a representative, with restrictive requirements and guidelines. If you ask, however, he can assist you.

Honestly, fire professor, the tests weren't that bad, the questions came from his lectures, articles(which are sometimes very boring), and his mandatory "fun" videos. There are 6 tests (lowest one gets dropped), letter to representative(grades harshly, and arguably harder than the test), and 1 final(98% of questions came from the tests).

Enjoyed the class, was interactive and made the class think about some controversial topics. Tests are mostly vocabulary from lectures and some about readings/videos from unit. Readings can be long (dense articles and 2 books), but if you do it you will be ok. Was helpful when searching for bill to write for letter (intimidating but nice).

Super easy course to be honest. The only troubling part for me was the articles, videos, and podcasts because it was hard to remember the details. The class is basically a vocab quiz for the rest of it which, if you get flashcards and study them a bunch, was a piece of cake. Very strict no phone policy and do not try him on it.

HE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH!!! I COULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM ENOUGH. This class is the most I have ever learned in my entire life. You will succeed if you follow directions and try hard. Yes he is strict, but for a reason.

As long as you apply yourself, study for the quizzes with flashcards with what he tells you to write down, you'll pass just fine. If you don't attend the lectures, that's where you're screwed. The only difficult part about this class was the paper you have to write, it's pretty research heavy but there's plenty of time to complete it.

Fast paced and info packed lectures, the whole course is graded on 6-7 things. He's not super upbeat and friendly but his office hours are really helpful if you need them. The course is easy if you show up, take notes, and study. He really knows what he's talking about and it shows, he's definitely not for everyone but I really enjoyed the course.

Great professor, but he's not a fan of technology aside from the projector. No electronics allowed in class, lectures heavy but makes it worth it to show up to class. As long as you pay attention you will definitely learn some valuable information but he also expects a lot of memorization for exams/quizzes.
