Excellent class. Professor Jimenez is by far the best professor I've ever had @ Bergen. Extremely helpful, super dedicated with an off-beat sense of humor. His obvious enthusiasm and love for the subject shows in his lecture and labs. He's tough but fair, you have to know your stuff and study his powerpoints. Watch for hints on what will be tested.

Lectures are not mandatory, but labs are, which are 1 once a week. he is pretty straight forward, and i recommend him. Even though he does have an accent and there are words that you might say "excuse me?" or "say again?" lol

the professor is helpfull. he is very clear about his questions. he goes over ever single detials that you need to know.

He gave us 4 exams for lecture and a few quizzes. Questions from quiz appear on exam. Few extra credit quesions on exam. He also gave us a take home final which was helpful. Exams were tricky but he wants to make sure you know your stuff. Lab is fun & attendance is mandatory. He's serious about the unknown. Not an easy A class but you learn a lot

He loves Micro and he is a great Prof! He adds in stories to help us learn the stuff! Like UPS and FEDx delivery trucks..lol I would make sure to have him a Prof. Bio isnt my thing i am bad at it but he is making it interesting for me to larn it!

Prof Jimenez is not da easiest prof @ BCC, but think about it -- how easy can Microbiology be? It's a class required for nursing students. I was a Liberal Arts major and the only reason I took it was b.c. of a scheduling conflict and I was able to get a B+. Not an easy A at all, however if u study da Powerpoints on a daily basis u should do fine.

Thank goodness for Prof J.. he's really good at helping you NOT waste your time with unnecessary text book readings and he's a very approachable professor..keeps you on your toes with remembering things that are covered in previous labs & lectures

Professor "J" is the man! He's not these typical nice professors that really don't care about what you learn in class...he has an incredible sense of humor, creativity in teaching and gives lots of quizzes to help your final grade. The subject is not easy, just do your best!

I really enjoyed Prof. J's class. He keeps it entertaining and interesting. You will not be bored. He relates the material to real life situations. Take him you will not regret it but he is not too clear about the syllabus. There are a lot of quizes be prepared!

Dr. J made learning a difficult subject fun and interesting. He loves what he does and has a wonderful ability to use that in his teaching to the students benefit. A+ for Dr. J!!!

Unlike some profs Dr J knows his stuff, knows how to explain the material to students and makes the class fun! Bio is not my things at all but I enjoyed his class more than any other I've taken so far. Lots of lab/few lectures quizzes tht will help you with your tests. Study exactly what he tells you to and you will be just fine! Dr J you rock! :)

Professor Jimenez is one of the best professors that I've ever had. He knows almost everyones name by the second class. He makes lecture very interesting, due to the fact that he has a great personality and is very funny. He really knows what he's talking about and can answer almost any question you have.

Prof J is a nice guy. He is very nice professor. I feel that I really learn something from his class. attend classes and hard study will give you an "A"

My favorite teacher @ BCC!Excellent lectures great use of lab. Hes a really nice funny guy and actually TEACHES. I love that he relates his crazy stories so you can get a better understanding. Tests can be tricky but he prepares you so well in advanced that failure is not an option. Strongly RECOMMENDED!!

BEST TEACHER AT BCC! really cares for his students,wants you to pass. Even if u aren't a good test taker u can still pass-his labs help ALOT & gives takehome quizzes! pay atention & study & get an A-B. Will make you love microbio! funny guy too!always has a crazy story that relate to bacteria/micro. TAKE HIM! you won't regret it!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed & benefited from micro w/ Dr J. Exceptional teaching skills; highly knowledgeable; delightful demeanor. Peppers his lectures with wildly funny anecdotes relating to microbio. Especially loved lab & learned a lot from working with live bacteria. Do make time to study often as coursework is rigorous. Great prep for nursing school.

Dr. J's class was amazing! Funny, insightful, relatable. Delivers info well, but don't rely on slides alone-you will need to STUDY to do well in this class. if you are willing to work hard and be responsible in lab, take him. He is the BEST!!!!! Favorite at BCC!!!

Prof "J" is one of the best teachers @BCC he makes micro a fun class he uses Pp slides he wants you to learn and make you study hard. A lot of quizes and a Unkown for final. Strongly recommended specially if you are going for nursing programm..

this is a HARD class but his teaching style is unmatched. If you NEED micro..take him! He'll really help you understand everything you need to know. EXCELLENT before prep for medical field. He is SUPER nice but niceness is no excuse to not study. STUDY.

If you don't like to study or put in time towards your education, don't take this class. If you are looking for an easy A, don't take this class. Dr. J is a great teacher and really made this class interesting & fun. I was a business major, however, I studied my butt off and got an A. He does not believe in multiple choice much so study!

Dr. J came strongly recommended by Prof. Flannery, so I knew I had to take him. This is a tough class but it thoroughly prepares you for the NURS classes. All the tests are based on critical thinking concepts and he peppers his lecture with humorous stories that helped me remember key information. He is one of the best at BCC!

I completely disagree with the comment below. He is not at all mean, he is a very nice guy who is passionate about what he's teaching. The class isn't easy but Dr. J is very fair. He isn't trying to fail you, if you do badly it's because you didn't put in the time. I am not a science major and I did very well in his class :)

Dr. J is awesome!! Best professor I have ever had at Bergen! :) He is soo passionate about what he teaches and is also very intelligent in it too. He has a story for almost everything you learn, which helps you remember it. I took this class for 6 weeks and excelled! If I had the opportunity to take Dr. J again for any of my classes, I def will!!:)

Dr. J is the best. I took this class during the summer and I can say he's better than anyone I've had at the university I attend during the year. I wouldn't want to wake up 8AM all summer for anyone else. Make sure to pay attention and take good notes he'll give you hints about what is on the test in lecture and read the lab book before lab quizzes

I love Dr. J. Very fair. There is no way you fail this class unless you do absolutely nothing. Class is not easy, you defiantly have to work for your grade, but he makes class interesting and funny. If you major in science, he is the best choice.

GREAT MICROBIO PROFESSOR! Had him for both lecture and lab, both amazing. He's hilarious and makes micro fun. Told me i was the best gram stainer in the class, he's very encouraging it's great! You won't regret taking this class. I highly recommend him!

Microbiology in general is a REALLY HARD CLASS. and Dr. Jimenez def does not cut corners. BUT he is actually very funny and nice and really loves what he does so it makes the lectures interesting and funny. Lab is pretty easy, which helps pull your grade up. The tests are hard, but pay attentionstudyask questions and you will pass!

I wasn't looking forward to taking this course at first, but then really opened up to it (its my major now) His lectures are honestly very entertaining but pay attention to what he tells you what you need to know, because it becomes very clear what to expect on his exams. Office hours are extremely helpful, but you must study first.

Dr.J is the Best around for biology. The class is challenging but really fun and the lab can never be boring. I took it over summer and learned a lot. The tests are reliable. He gives good feedback and helps his student to do great in class. Definitely take him.

You don't hardly find teachers like him anymore. Cares about his students, funny lectures, will keep u awake for sure, wants you to understand not just memorize. You will learn a lot from him at the end of the semester if you try. Record him!! he talks fast and during lectures will tell u exactly what you need to study for.

All I can say is that this man is the definition of a class act. Rarely do you find a teacher who is as knowledgable and cares about his students to the extent that he does. His lectures are full of energy and really funny as well which make classes awesome. His class isn't easy but neither is Micro. Need more prof's like him truly a dying breed.

Study all the bacteria names! he loves those guys haha He genuinely loves what he does and thats what makes him so awesome as a teacher. Such a great professor. Made learning the topics fun and interactive. He was a tough tester-- had to memorize a lot of things. . He makes the material relevant to healthcare and potential real-life scenarios. He's a great lecturer and the powerpoints are great. TAKE HIM!! -- just be ready to put in effort to get an A.

Awesome professor, he's very funny, some corny jokes but I learned a lot. Highly recommend him. Going to class is an absolute must and his tests are really hard!!!! All test info is straight from the powerpoints. He also posts the powerpoints online which is great to follow along since he skips around a lot.

Extremely knowledgeable and shows a real interest in teaching the subject. Does a few quizzes after half of the chapter then a test. No text required everything comes from the power points he uses. Not a hard class but not an easy A either. Highly recommend environmental microbio with him.

Hands down the best professor I have ever taken! If you want to get an easy A this class isn't for you. No need to buy the textbook. But, be sure to pay attention in class. His exams are 90% fill ins and know each slide from his power points. Tough grader, but you will learn a lot from him. After taking this class, it made me appreciate micro.

I don't understand how it's possible to have so much love for a teacher that makes his class (especially his tests) so hard. You should start studying for his lecture tests as soon as possible - pretty much before you even start the class. He gives 8 VERY TOUGH lab quizzes (don't let the first one fool you). But a warning, he will crack you up.

Dr. J is genuinely a good teacher, though his reviews say otherwise. He shares many hilarious stories and is always cracking jokes, but don't let that distract you from the difficulty of this class. Study his power points for the test and don't expect to get an A without studying. Also, don't want until the final exam to bring him carrot cake.

8 Lab quizzes, an unknown assignment,a midterm and a final and ONLY three lecture exams ! Do not mess up on lecture exams because they strongly effect your grade. Exams straight off the powerpoint. Study! All testing is hard, including lab quizzes that are very specific. This class is very doable, put in a little time, he is not easy but so sweet!

Listen, it's a tough class! Should be a 300 level class (As is in every other institution) Dr. J, however, makes it tolerable. Please do all your work, don't procrastinate and study hard! He will always be there to help and answer questions, and is very nice and cares for his students! Very passionate about his microbes too!!

Dr. J is amazing! He took an extremely difficult course and made it manageable. He is always upbeat ad loves what he does. No textbook needed, everything you need is on his PPT slides. I went from disliking micro to becoming really interested thanks to Dr. J's approach.

Listen to the man! He tells you valuable things any health profession must know and will keep you out of jail! Its a tough class - lots of abstract concepts to learn and memorize but hey science is for smart people. Do the man a service and don't skip the class, he works hard to make it as interesting and entertaining as possible.

Dr.J is awesome, I just wish he was a little more understanding when we had to switch to online learning. He was kinda of a jerk making the online tests super tricky and long. Lectures and labs were super interesting and he gives good examples that make the concepts much easy to learn and retain.

The first time i took micro i had to drop it because the professor was AWFUL but dr j made taking it again to much more enjoyable and understanding! his passion for the course and humor along with it makes all the hard work worth it!! his tests are based off conversations during lecture so as long as you show up and do the work youll pass!

One of the funniest profs, will make class/lab enjoyable with his stories. Lab quizzes were not as easy but STUDY FOR THEM religiously. Lab exams were based on the notes you took/ memorization. I found lecture exams easier, based on his PPWs. Fun class but do not get side tracked by the humor. Stay focused and study, he will make you work for an A.

The online lab was easier than I'd expected it to be. All testing is multiple choice and true/false. 9 quizzes based on intros from each lab chapter in the manual. The unknown test was fun and if you study the quizzes and pay attention, you will pass the midterm and the final. Prof. gets back to you pretty quickly if you email him & seems happy too

Professor Jimenez is great! His lectures are great and labs were very interesting! Lab exams (about 9 of them) and Lecture exams. Pay attention because his exam is based on his lectures. Easy A! Highly recommend

I took this class over summer. He is very enthusiastic about microbiology. His labs are really easy.The lab midterm and final were super simple and straight forward. However, the lectures were really difficult. He does not give study guides so you kind of have to know everything. This can be a lot. Attendance not mandatory but you will fail if not.

One of the kindest and most supportive professors. He truly cares about your success and is always willing to help. He allowed me to stay after lab sessions to finish assignments and consistently responded to every email with helpful and informative replies.
