Shy professor but teaches you alot
very good teacher..he really wants students to learn and improve their skills..a little bit hard but if you take him, you are going to get used to his work style.
Awsome ability to challenge students to think analyticaly.
Somewhat of a hard teacher, he really makes you think when you write your essays. Avoid if you want a easy teacher, but he's a very cool teacher and is a very good teacher if you want to learn. On top of that he's a Cure fan!
I really like him. He was a very cool and easy guy. He did get mad at students who talked a lot but I would have too.
Good teacher doesnt really grade that hard. But if you get all your assignments done you'll pass. Though there are a lot of writing assignments. You can really learn a lot in his class though.
he's a cool teacher... you get a lot of writing assignments, but as long as you do them with some type of effort you'll pass. the classes are boring at times but that's for all classes. i liked his teaching style, he's one of the better teachers i've had!
He really encouraged me to improve my writing and was willing to spend a lot of time helping me. He delivers great lectures on Ode on a Grecian Urn.
Do NOT take the online hybrid class! Way too many online posts. Not the most clear teacher, and not very timely when it comes to returning papers. He is OK but only good if you already excel in English. Not highly recommended.
personally, I liked his hybrid class. There is a lot of work but its bc it meets once a wk so you do most of it on your own. He helps u if u ask. If you just plain suck at writing, u wont do well.
You can get B on all of your essays if you follow his steps. five essay + 1 final essay, 3 to 4 pages. you can actually learn to write analysis essay from those practises.
5 essays. 1final. lots of online posts. but hey its an online class right? he even says is himself just follow the forumula for english 1a and you'll get an A. simple. ez. cool guy! dont know why everyone is calling it wack.
Very helpful teacher if you ask for it. The classes are VERY boring, and he repeats himself a lot. Alot of assignments to do online, and you have to stay on top. Pretty easy grader, but if you aren't good at writing, good luck getting an A.
Really awesome hybrid class. He switches up how most people have learned to write essays, but I actually learned a lot. He's easy and helpful in grading. Much better than the other english teachers, I would say the best out of any class Ewrt 1 a teacher.
He's great! Especially if you are already writing alot and just need something new and interesting to keep yourself going! Hybrid class saves you travel time to school too so its great for people who work all the time like me!!
His hybrid class is really good. It saves your time going to school. If you love to write, you'll surely enjoy his class. Very helpful teacher and he gives a fair grade. If you stay on top of his assignments & have a fair writing ability, you'll get A.
Mr. Limcolioc's Hybrid class was ideal for the busy student. I learned so much from his class. He's way cool. He has a very calm personality and is very good and making you understand what he wants from you. Take his class the Hybrid approach is cool.
Awesome teacher. He really makes one learn how to analyze, which is good because the more analytical a paper is, the better. There's a great deal of work, but if you keep up and follow what he wants, he's not that bad of a grader.
Even the summer quarter was not that bad. Just do the work and you will be fine. Lots of reading, lots of writing, but it is worth it. Great for those who need to learn how to write an analytical papers.
Super cool teacher. His hybrid class is great. The essays are really challenging coz it's analytical writing, but I enjoyed it. There's a lot of writings to do. You just need 2 things to get A: an analytical mind and a fair ability to write.
Incredible! Adds LOTS of comments to every essay that really truly help. Hybrid class is excellent. He is somewhat reserved but he will help you if you need it, primarily through the analyzation of your papers. Really imporoved my writing.
He has a lot of essays and assignments.. just show you are making improvements and do all the work... he is an easy grader in my opinion and i would highly encourage taking this class...
This instructor (?) taught me absolutely nothing. He assigned novels, but offered no guidance in writing or understanding. Air of quiet superiority seemed to surrounded him. More interested in "looking cool" than teaching. Indifferent, no
yes he doesnt teach you much about writing skills or techs but if your looking for that easy A, and you do your work, take this class. all you have to know is how to read and write an essay and you got an A. as long as you do the work and its simple contexts and writing assignments. a breeze though
To the student who made the comment, "Has an air of quiet superiority...," Limcolioc is super cool and has a degree in aerospace engineering...sadly, you fear what you do not understand. To others-this prof is very clear about assignments & makes time to help if you need it. I highly recommend him!
I liked the reading materials and the writing assignements. The workload gets heavy at times but I learned a lot and Prof. Limcolioc is very helpful. Great class!!!
great teacher!! very easy going guy.. if you don't pass this english clas, better if you just drop out of college.
Very helpful. He made thesis writing easy to understand.
He is really easy on grading papers, as long as u have an analytical mind and not really poor on writing, you will be fine. I even got a B on the first essay, that's unbelieveable.I have much confidence on my writing now.Nice teacher.I would never get B on my papers when i was in 100b class before.
Took this class over the summer. It was only 6 wks long and met twice a wk bcuz it was a hybrid class. I liked the class a lot....just keep up with reading and online discussions. You'll do fine. I don't normally do well in English classes, but I got a B. He's a very understanding prof. You'll like the class...
I learned a lot about how to write a college level essay. he gives students a variety of reading materials and you can choose topics that suites your own interest. this is a great class.
He is a good teacher, reading are good and there is choice of topic about the essays. He is very helpful and once you learn what he wants in the writings it can be an A.
good teacher! i took the hybrid class and it was boring. show up anywayz. he explains the assignment for what we're suppose to submit and is very clean. essays were easy to write cuz he leaves it up to us to choose the topic. take him.
He earns his good repitation. He is kind, clear and will reward hard work with an A. Very easily approachable and alsways ready with a helping hand.
grreat professor as well as ways of teaching. I learned a lot from him as well as in writing essays. found him really interesting as well as enthuastic individual. HIGHLY RECOMENDED.
My friends warned me about a teacher who's more concerned with his image than teaching his students. A teacher who is always right "You're an international student, so the misunderstanding is obviously yours!" and a teacher who grades according to how much he likes the student, regardless of their ability. I didn't listen. Hopefully, you will.
Very clear explaination of assigment the essay wasn't as hard as other teacher choice of topics are interesting and easy to follow , i took the hypid class and he response my questions very quickerly . take him!!
I took the hybraid class, and it was quite boring, but it was important to come to every class meeting. Luis was an okay teacher, he knew what he was talking about, but he has a mono toned voice, and 2 hours of it. But i learned, and if you take good notes and do all the online assignment, you'll do just fine. over all, he's good, just a tad boring
He is the best english teacher I have ever taken hands down. He has a very clear, analytical aproach. He has a profound understanding of the subject and his ability and competency as a teacher is outstanding.
The greatest english teacher ever!!! The hybrid class is awesome, cuts out a lot of the busy work! He is super helpful and very understanding. I loved his class, I wish I could have taken him for Ewrt 1B. If you can handle the hybrid format, you can't go wrong with this teacher he is AWESOME!!!!
This teacher is very easy going and helpful, all you have to do is take notes. He is very clear in explaining assignments. Good teacher!
This teacher is amazing. I hope he's teaching Ewrt 2. His teaching methods are very very clear and he knows his stuff. He doesn't **** you like a lot of lit teachers out there. A lot of essay writing, but I learned a lot from his class and I hope that he's teaching more lit classes.
awesome awesome teacher. i took the hybrid class with him and it was great. he is extremely helpful and my writing style changed a lot after taking his class. highly recommended.
Excellent professor. Highly reccomended. He is very helpful and clear on what he wants for assignments and he grades pretty easy. Also, the required books you read are great, Unlike most books other teacers have you read! Take him!!
great professor!! alot of work though. challenging writing assignments and many of them!! 3 textbooks... alot of reading!!grading is challenging also..you really have to go above and beyond to get an A. He will give you a B for great work.
he is easy going, but it doesn't mean he is an easy grader. he requires a lot, and they are not such easy stuffs. for first 3 weeks, we had tons of reading, and I guess it was SUPER hard for internaitonal students.
limcolioc is a great teacher that ewrt 1a students should take. i wouldn't say he's easy, but just as long as u do the work he assigns, u'll do fine in the class. if ur horrible at writing essays, he won't judge. 5 essays on short stories, 1 midterm essay on novel, and 1 final essay on novel. peer review on essays. assigns response questions for hw
Great for EWRT 2 online. I loved the class, I learned a lot and I got to choose the essay topic for all my essays out of the writing book we purchase. Not difficult, but you gotta write an essay one a week and peer edit other essays online. Great teacher.
Good teacher, fair grader, you have to write a lot
Not the most energetic instructor, repeats himself a lot. lenient on the deadlines, works with you. optimistic, maybe a bit too loose on the interpretation of your writing skills. 3 text books to read: don't fall behind in the novel, for the other two books, selective reading suffices. Decent grader
Overall Limcolioc is a very clear and easy going professor. He is as nice and happily answers questions after class. Though, there is a constant workload and with the three books, and its a little exhausting to stay on top of it, but if you are willing to work, you will find this class as well as his help worthwhile.
For an online class, Limcolioc is a pretty great professor (I have taken him in class before). His class is structured, you write a lot of essays, so staying on top of the reading is needed. He responds to questions on the forums constantly and is open to IM if that is what you need. He is a pretty easy grader, gives good comments. Take him :)
Dont take his class. Take some other teacher. gives lot of assignment. Does not give extra credit(No options)
For my first online class, he is a great professor. Really helpful, as in you can ask him any questions and he'll give you answers. He's really lenient on due dates, giving us a grace period on mostly every assignment. There are three books, but you really only read one. for the other two, he tells you to just skim them.
This is one of my favorite professors..he's very nice and willing to help when you need it. His assignments are easy however there likely will be homework every time you meet..but, the hmwk is mainly analytical and so u can just give ur own opinions and understanding. He discusses the readings in class so if u forget to read its ok..easy pass
really nice and polite guy. he'll make it absolutely clear what he needs. the course demands alotta reading and writing but he's willing to help. replies emails promptly and helps out wherever possible. grading system is very fair.
Lots of work. Lots of essays and reading. Peer editing is a joke.My papers were edited by foreign students with horrible grammar and english. How am I supposed to gain helpful feedback from someone who doen't know what a THESIS is? Beware, he is the kind of instructor who does not like to give "A's". Knocks points off for ANY reason he can think up.
Very hard class over all but a good teacher. Can be a tad blunt in his emails but overall tells you pretty clearly what he wants.
Prof. Limcolioc is a fantastic teacher. I learned so much from his online class that I will be forever grateful I ended up taking him. Clear, concise instructions, not vague, like many English profs. Utilizes the best textbooks & picked really terrific reading mats. (ie.FieldNotesFr/aCatastrope).Put in the work and you will reap the benefits.EWRT1B
Don't take this guy. Class just ended and I still don't have 3 of my essays graded. This guy is seriously a joke. How am I supposed to improve on my essays when he doesn't even grade them? He seriously does not want his students to pass his class and tries to find any reason to flunk you.
Wow. This teacher was awful. Had to wake up early in the morning to find out he doesn't show up to half his classes. Hours and hours of writing essays and peer editing. Not helpful at ALL! Basically 3-4 sentences of advice and returns essays late! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
He's a VERY nice person but extremely BORING. He basically rambles on and on for 3 hours straight while others take hours or doze off. If you do all his work your guaranteed a decent grade but seriously. So boring.
Dope Teacher. if your lazy and dont like reading on your own then your grade will suffer. just do the essays and the assignments on time and youll get a good grade. he actually accepts late work, who does that? if you enjoy online classes then this is the class for you. easy and fun.
Took course online.Hard grader.Essay due each week.Lots of reading & discussions.Got an A in the class, but did not appreciate that he caters to foreign and ESL students. If English is your 2nd language, take him & he will pass you.If you are good at English,he will be more critical, expect more, and make any excuse to take points off your assignments.
The WORST teacher I have ever taken at De Anza! He makes you write essays & buncha other crap Every week & doesn't even grade it until the last day of school! I complained to the Dean about him & she said lots of other students complained about him too. I like english but I REGRET taking this class & now I have to take it all over again.
He gives high grades to those that do not know how to write English at all. But if you are a native speaker, then you will be made to jump through hoops to get an A. He will tell you excellent or great job, but then give you a B. And that is when you actually get your work back, he slacks on grading assignments.
He does seem to have some good points about writing - relevance and depth. What he lacks is leadership and tactic to motivate students and energy to return papers early enough. The online format is worse because it doesn't offer face time to understand what he really wants to see in your paper.
Adequate direction; Provides feedback when asked; Will assist in fostering unique writing styles (as long as they are grammatically correct). Had as an online class. Though I dislike online classes, this one provided enough interaction to keep me interested. Not difficult, but do not slack.
I thought he was a pretty good teacher seems laid back and wasn't half bad. Our class wrote something every day but it wasn't hard work. There was the problem about the discussions those were slow.
I used to like English, but this teacher tells us to completely erase our memory of 5-paragraph form overnight and expects us to write perfect analytical papers when it's completely the opposite of everything we have ever been taught. His lectures are boring and monotonous. His assignments are as well.
It sounds like Mr. Limcolioc had a hard last quarter. I did not have the same negative experiences. Some papers were graded late, but not overly so. He does push you. I didn't see how he graded others, but there was a lot of work, and my writing definitely improved. You want to slack? He's not the teacher for you. You want to learn, then yes.
he was extremely easy, but i did learn quite alot. I can write in multiple ways now. i took his hybrid class so i only had to attend twice a week. everything was online. He explained the online assignments during the two days you go to class. if you let him know ahead of time when your turning in a late assigment he does not trip over it. take him!
Overrall, lots of work but not necessarily hard, 7 or 8 essays in all (2 are in class and 1 is a revision of an already written one). Learned a lot about essay writing obviously, pretty much if you stay on top of your game you'll come out of this class with atleast one if not more ways to write an essay. Grades fairly easily, take him.
I don't know why people say he's hard. He's extremely easy to me. Yes, there are lots of readings. But if you really do the work, you're in great shape. He grades really easy. I scored 100/100 in my final paper. As for the midterms and finals, they can be challenging, but not necessarily so if you did the required readings.
just a lot of work thats it
This class wasn't too hard, just tidious if anything. I took his hybrid class where we meet once a week and the rest is online. He's pretty clear when he's explaining how to write the essays and even goes over it more than once. 7 essays, 5 done at home, 2 in class. Midterm and final are the in class essays.
One of the best English teachers I've had. He really tries to get you to write differently and gives clear instructions on what he's expecting. It is a lot of work. I also took the hybrid class, so all the assignments were turned in online with only two in-class essays. A good teacher, but if you want a good grade, you have to work for it.
There was a lot of reading and writing done in the class. It can be a tad boring, but in the end, you do learn something. 7 essays (2 in-class & 5 take home, one being a revision) but if you attend class and understand the material, then it shouldn't be too hard. He's always available if you need help too.
Extremely easy class. His dedication to teach is evident but my writing worsened after taking that class. I suppose I expected a lot after taking 2 AP english courses in high school, but I didn't learn anything...
Mr. Limcolioc is really nice and easy. When we get tested on a book we are reading, I know there are students whom have never read the book but still aced it. His essays are graded pretty fairly. I got Bs for them. His teachings are a little repetitive though. But he is really nice! Plus he is very smiley:D
This was an online class for me. I never met this professor in person. He graded fairly and on the easy side. You do quite a bit of writing, but not overwhelming at all. Knowledgeable about the subject, and willing to discuss anything. I recommend it for a good analytical writing class.
Nice guy & easy grader. Decent amount of homework from short stories. 5 essays on the short stories that you pick. Uses a unique evolving thesis writing method. Class time is used to discuss what we felt about the reading. Fair grader, very helpful, but kind of boring. Take this class if you want an A & want to experience a new style of writing.
Some students in my class thought that he was boring. I think it's very subjective. If you want to enjoy his class, you got to participate in class discussions and contribute. He is not gonna do all the thinking for you. At the same time he is fairly easy, certainly fair, and will help you with anything you need.
He is OK. The class meeting were boring, the book was also no fun. You have to write a lot if you want to get an A.
This guy never gives examples of anything. He does not really help with the online portion of the class which is huge. And he sounds like a robot. You have to go to class if you want to get a grade but the class is painfully boring. DO NOT take unless you are forced to.
His work is super easy, however, don't skip homework otherwise it's hard to catch up. He grades very fairly but if you miss ONE essay out of 5, you fail the class even if you have an A. He is really boring but if you really want an easy grade take his class. I thought I was going to fail but ended up with a B.
if you're used to "5" paragraph essays and such, he teaches you how to get away from that. hybrid course, so expect online assignments every week, attendance is basically taking a quiz/ participation. 5 Big essays 1 midterm and 1 Final. fair grader, but work and effort is needed if you want A/B
He is straightforward and pretty chill, a bit boring. He really helped me get past summarizing in 5 paragraph essays. Attendance is basically participation and qui. He is a pretty easy grader if you made a decent attempt at the requirements. Helpful if you ask questions. Wish I put more effort into easy online hw! Dont skip it really is easy points
Took his hybrid 1A class. On days you dont have class you have online assignments. You will also have things due on the weekends. 5 Essays total. The texts are SO BORING. He really hates 5-paragraph writing style & tries to "break you" of this habit. Hes not a bad teacher but there is tons of work required for this class. Only take him if you must.
provides very clear instructions.
I have to admit, when I was going through his class, I did not like it all. There is A LOT of work. However, I definitely learned a lot about analytical writing in his class. I was a little disappointed that he assigned so much work, but in this world, you have to earn your grades. Mr. Limcolic is extremely clear when giving instructions for essays
Professor Limcolioc really helped me reach my personal/academic goals. He offers a lot of assistance and is grateful to answer your questions. In his lit class, there are daily readings and discussions. The atmosphere he created made me comfortable to engage in discussions. Although I took his regular class, there was still a lot of online material
Such a good natured guy. The class was SO very boring but what do you expect from such a low level course? He'll give quizes on what you read the night before, but he'll let you know in advance.
Lots of homework but he really teaches you to write analytically which is fantastic.
Definitely gave a lot of work, but it was all pretty do-able. No affense, but an extremely boring teacher. Nice guy, but his class was not at all interesting. This class is if you like to or if you're a writer, your grade depends A LOT on the essays.
good teacher. I really learned how to write analytically.
He was a great teacher! Gives a lot of work online which you have to keep track of. Essays are a big portion of your grade. If you do all the work and pay attention you'll do fine and if you're having trouble he's ready and willing to help you.
I've taken prof limcolioc for EWRIT211, EWRIT1A and EWRIT2. Most of the work he does involves analytical writing and its very easy to do. All you really need to do is just read the book. Be sure to do all his homework and it should be an easy class.
He's an amazing English teacher. If you are of the timid nature he's very approachable and takes the time to answer any of your numerous questions. He's very patient and truly cares about your writing. He only seeks to improve your writing abilities and his lectures are straight forward. I recommend him 100%
Pretty strict about working. A TON of assignments and essays if you decide to pick him. His hybrid class seems somewhat better than his full face to face classes. Take him if you're ready to work A TON reading and writing. P.S. He won't accept late work even if it's not your fault or if you have a legitimate excuse!
I took his on line class and it was very challenging. Be prepare to have homework do daily even on saturdays and sundays! He grades fairly and will answer any questions you have if that helps!
Great teacher,be prepared to do a lot of homework. the class is not easy, but will definitely learn.
Prepare to drop the 5 paragraph form. He is big on analyzing and structuring your essay in a specific way. At first the new form was kinda confusing but it got clearer as we went on and I know a lot of us felt that our writing had improved by the end. I got an A- with not too much effort but you still need to keep up and turn stuff in on time.
UNLESS you have time to come on DAILY and write a 500 word daily assignment with essays and topics and topics responses and reviewing peer drafts on top of that, and be content with the basic of basic feedback from the teacher, then go ahead and take the online class. I'm in the middle of the spring 2013 quarter so I don't have a grade yet.
There are daily writing assignments (250/500 words) you turn in everyday, which I don't really mind. My main peeve is that the feedback from him is VERY minimal and basic. So if you want to improve your writing, he's very unhelpful. This class seems to breed inane drivel based on a set # of words than producing truly efficient and great writing.
Do not take this class. Your writing ability will decline.
Mon-Thurs daily writing assignments about stuff from the book but you can google most of the articles/images. 3 essays+3peer reviews. Moderate work, just make sure you have to be thorough in covering your points. Responds to email/questions fast. Doesn't seem to give A+ grades but doesn't purposely fail people. Lot of writing but little reading.
writing daily, 500 words. Easy to do since they boost grade and make up most of what your final essay's prompts anyway so less studying/researching since you have good grasp on it already. Responds quickly to email, unbiased. Not an easy A, but not an easy C either. You may have to write a lot but at least readings are short articles or artwork.
horrible teacher , don't learn anything
too much work.Does not grade work . worst class to take
waste of mine time and yours
Teacher does not grade assignments on time, takes points off for no reason.
I love this class and this teacher. Everyone keeps complaining how difficult it is but if you think about it..like Yelp people only write when they have had experiences rather than good ones. This class is a challenge with the load of writing but like every class as long as he sees you are trying, you will pass no problem.
does not give explanations for points taken off work. Hard grader and inconsistent expectations.
A teacher that is more concerned with word count than giving feedback and explaining the reason for the grades he gives. Dont expect any good results from taking this class or dealing with this teacher. The guy who posted saying that it is possible to pass obviously does not care about his grades. Just passing is not good enough.
just to be fair with him.I first was exhausted with the endless of homework, online assignment, papers, quiz from him.but he's generous at grading as long as you show consistency with the works.I was afraid of the final grade, too but I got an A which makes me proud because I really studied hard to earn this.
He is a good teacher, and is pretty easy on the grading. He does give a lot of homework and they are worth from 50-100 points, so i recommend doing most of it at least. 5 essays, not including mid term and final. He has u read a novel called White eeth and the mid term and final are in class essays about the novel. Like i said, he is an easy grader
Grades off of a word count (which is a personal peeve of mine); generally pretty inflexible when it comes to assignments, either they're in or they're not, either they make the word count or they don't. And he must have a list of different ways to say "good observations" 'cause that's literally all the feedback I got on any of my papers.
Limcolioc is more concerned with word count than having students understand the material. I never received anything above a 93%. It was always "93%: great understanding of the text and material presented." No comments on why I wasn't getting 100%. No suggestions for improvement or ANY amount of structural criticism. Choose ANY another professor.
Definetely not an easy teacher, does give a lot of work to do online, and you have to keep up with it. However, he is nice, and willing to give an extension, or help. Heavy workload when it comes to homework, yet he is reasonable with expectations, and tells you what you need to do for the essay. Ask for help and he will give it.
Limcolioc's class was a breeze! There's an agenda to every week and he also posts future due dates. His comments on essays are helpful and allow you to develop and polish future ones. The daily writing assignments also help with the essay topics! 4 essays, 1 final essay, discussion posts, and writing assignments make up the class.
Mr. Limcolioc was a great teacher, contrary to a lot of the pessimistic comments I see here. My whole class agreed he's a very fair grader. I would definitely recommend him as a professor because after taking his clas, I really feel like I am a better writer. The homework load was far from stressful. Great teacher!
I found his grading to very consistent for an online course. He re-posted essays with feedback on them to make it very clear why I were not receiving full points. He made sure that I was developing my writing skills instead of enforcing old bad habits.
Professor Limcolioc is very helpful and provides very good feedback on the major essays to allow you to get better. He does, however, assign quite a few assignments. Mostly everyday there is a writing assignment due. Fairly easy grader but you really do have to stay on top of things in order to get an A.
He assigns a massive amount of busy work with very little time, and grades ALL of it. If you miss a day, you miss points. For example, he gave our class TWO DAYS to read Frankenstein, THREE DAYS BEFORE FINALS, on top of a massive essay, 4 shorter essays, and two quizzes. THREE DAYS BEFORE FINALS. No sympathy for the massive work load- DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Limcoliac is one of the better English professors. A lot of the "busy work" and discussions are honestly worthwhile as they help make sense of the huge variety of texts that a survey course entails. He's easier on grading than a lot of other teachers seeing that I got an A and only read like a third of the material. Definitely take.
I'm glad you guys had a good experience. He's not the nicest of graders and he didn't want to help me out dispite how hard I worked in his class.
Loads of work. Not the nicest grader. Doesn't want to work with students. I wish I never took his class. There are far better teachers at De Anza.
Listen up. Best advice you'll get. Quizzes: read summaries you'll be fine. Essays & other writing assignments: Just write A LOT. He'll give you a minimum characters of words you'll need to meet but go beyond that. It doesn't have to be good just write a lot and you'll pass this class easy. He does take off points randomly though.
Gives a lot of busy work, a lot. Doesn't really care about his students, but he gets to the point and gives a bare bones explanation of things. Wouldn't recommend.
If you don't come to class you won't pass since he takes attendance every day. There's are basically assignments assigned everyday and he doesn't give much time to do them. Also, he doesn't really explain things that well but will help if you ask. Don't take the class unless you're willing to spend lots of time doing homework and essays.
Took the hybrid class in which we met 3dayswk. Assignments everyday, discussions almost every week. Quizzes at least once a week. 5 essays, 1 midterm essay, 1 final essay. Attendance is mandatory, so don't skip. Since most assignments are online, be sure to keep track of due datestimes. Do the work and meet the required word counts, you'll pass.
Mr. Limcolioc is a nice guy. He makes what he wants very clear from your essays, but also gives you the opportunity to vary them in your own way. Even if you don't understand, if you ask him personally he'll make it very clear. It's by no means an easy A, though. Getting an A is very possible, but you'll have to earn it.
GREAT TEACHER. He is always there whenever you need help. He honestly made me a better writer. I know that i have improved while in his class. He explains his assignments well and his class is very organized. I recommend anybody to take this class. You will become a better writer and he will help you get there. Wish i could take EWRT 1B with him.
Louis is a G. His class is simple, provides short read and review assignments, but they are all just easy points. I have took him for pre req english, English 1A, and english 2. Super simple if u take him online he will accept late work even though it says he wont just email him. Not a tough grader if u put little effort into work, take him!!!
Lots of daily writing assignments (500 words each) but as long as you skim the text & make things up a little bit, you'll get decent score (93+). 5 essays including 1 final, they're assigned almost every other week. He doesn't like ABC format so do "evolving thesis" format. He grades you based solely on how you develop your ideas. Generous grading
Limcolioc is the kind of guy who figured out a writingthought process that works for him, and thinks it's the solution for everyone. You will do inane prewriting assignments every day until your brains drop out, But at least there won't be any confusion since if you miss a lecture, you'll find a transcript in the textbook.
I agree, Limcolioc IS the kind of guy who figured out a writing thought process that works for him, and thinks it's the solution for EVERYONE. Reading has a heavy Christian theology theme. He isn't very helpful, takes forever to reply, and to grade assignments. Not determined to help you succeed, would never take again.
Prepare to do lots of writing and reading in this class. We were assigned to 3 writing assignments a week (each 500 words). Had to drop one of my classes because of the sheer workload. Teacher gives back decent feedback and is willing to help students. Thanks for bring back the enjoy of reading prof! -x
He is very clear about what he wants you to do in your essays and gives helpful feedback. I learned so much and improved my writing and reading skills in this class. We had 5 essays (4 plus revision, 50% of your grade) and in-class essays for midterm and final both on White Teeth book (Very interesting book!) He is not a hard grader! Take him.
ridiculous quizzes and the books are bad. His classes are super boring
I have learned so much about writing from Limcolioc. There are a lot of work. The assignments and quiz can be hard. But if you are willing to take your time to learn, you will definitely become a better writer. I get As for my papers in other classes because of what I learned from him. He deserves all your effort to learn the most in his class.
Professor Limcolioc is an awesome! If you ever have the chance to take one of his class, do it. You won't regret it. He is a fair grader so if you do the readings and works, you will expect a good grade. But if you don't do the readings and works, then expect a bad grade. Don't skip class, or you won't pass! Unless you're taking him online. (:
Assigns daily writing assignments. 4+ assignments a week 500+ words each. 4 main essays + 1 (1000) word essay that ties everything together. Feedback on the assignments are general and doesn't really tell you how to improve, but the feedback on main essays are exceptional and has really improved my overall writing ability. GET READY TO WRITE & READ
Although there are lots of online forum posts and a heavy reading load, you will definitely learn a lot from his class. Whenever you need help he is there, and his feedback is on point. The amount of effort you put into your assignments is reflected in the grade that he gives you. If you're not ready to put in work, then don't take his class.
I had Limcolioc for online EWRT 2, and Elit 46C and Elit 46B. His writing class was difficult but manageable and thoroughly challenged me. His literature classes were challenging but much easier than writing. He really knows what he teaches, and puts a lot of time into grading assignments thoroughly and punctually. One of my favorite teachers!
Mr. Limcolioc was fast at answering all of my emails and concerns about the assignments. Although it says that no late work is accepted, if you explain yourself then he will help. Expect a lot of writing assignments, but they're short (250 words). Forum posts every week (500 words). Essay every other week (750 words). He rushes essay grading though
Took Mr. Limcolioc for EWRT 2 as well, but this time he took forever to grade our essays. He did push the due dates for the next essay so that we can review our previous one in time to improve and submit the next one. He was too busy to answer my emails this time. About 2 weekly assignments (300 words), 2 forum post, and an essay every other week.
If your taking this class be prepared to read a lot and write alot. He has many deadlines throughout the week which are due at 9:30am, plan ahead, or you can miss needed points. Otherwise, although overwhelming, because of other classes, I read some cool books and I improved my writting skills. If you ask for help he gets back to you quickly.
I took him for EWRT2 and 1A. I didn't read his comments for my essays in 2 and I still passed with a B lol. But for real, you have to read the material since he expects class participation. If you're taking his online class it's a bit easier. Books are pretty cool.
Haven't graded out assignments for over 15 days
Irresponsible and doesn't want to work with students. Tons of assignments everyday. Gives us a lot of due days but he never grade these on time.
He is cold and sinister, he has no willingness to work with students
Best advice to succeed in his class - Quiz: for the book WT you have to memorize all the story and details but for the book WA just memorize those significant info&demostration (not examples) Daily Writing Assignments: he will grade ALL of them so don't skip, actually they are just easy points just copy sty from your old writing or the book
He has never responded my email during the whole quarter
The online class was a great class! I dont know why there are bad reviews about him. HE IS GREAT! Take him!!!!!! -4 essays -1 research paper -2 weekly assignments Super easy and the usual stuff. His grading is clear and he is a very nice teacher. I had a blast taking him this quarter. We read very interesting books.
Great Professor. He replied to my emails the same day, if not early the next day. Keep in mind that he has more than 100 students so if he doesn't email you back take the initiative to speak with him after class or ask a classmate. This is college. Almost all of his daily assignments are due at 9:30a so plan ahead.
Taking his class as a new English major was intimidating. Quizzes or 250+ word observations due every class plus forum post and response every week. Unless you have a great memory, the exams are HARD, but he grades fair knowing this. You really have to work for your grade. He's an excellent teacher with a great sense of humor. I strongly recommend!
We have finished this quarter but he still didnt grade 3 of my essays (we had 5 in total)
Punctual instructor who grades fairly and gives valuable feedback. Reading wasn't essential, skimmed through the texts when it was necessary.
For his essays, make sure all of them are analytical and have an evolved thesis, and each paragraph should be logically connected. Just analyze as deeply as you can but don't summarize
I definitely recommend taking this professor! Yes you will have to read, but the books of choice are very interesting (and i'm a very picky book reader who hates reading). You will write a couple papers in this course but he literally will go over everything that needs to be included in the paper and how to write a good one. would take again.
He is a real analytical teacher and will portray that thought right back to your opinion. Your opinion matters the most, that is what makes a good paper. Lots of writing assignments, but they are good to warm you up for the essays. Very mild temper teacher. Visually teaches as well as how to create your essay.
BIG RED FLAG: You cannot make up a test no matter what, doesn't matter what documentation or excuse you have. Personally, a bad experience (I'm not an English major). His lectures are long and dull. He spends the time reviewing whatever was read. Loads of reading/homework. Has extra credit. No feedback. Analysis based writing (A LOT).
Mr. Limcolioc is a great professor. I had him for 1A and 46B. His 1A class was rigorous and prepared me for higher-level writing. He is very calm and relaxed -- not intimidating. His class was very enjoyable. You must know how to analyze for his higher level classes. He teaches you that right off the bat. Overall A+ professor!
Prof Limcollioc was amazing, he gave clear directions on all homework and tests. He grades generously and is flexible with deadlines (if you talk to him beforehand).
He delivers thought-provoking lectures and is really smart. The hybrid class is a lot of work and is graded seriously. The essays are weighted heavily; he explains what he wants and leaves you to it. He lagged on the grading. Everything was entered in finals week so I had no idea what my grade looked like during the quarter or how to adjust.
I recommend Mr Limcolioc because his class feels like a book club, with amazing lectures & group discussions. The books & texts he chooses are stellar choices and he allows the freedom of choice in writing & encourages creative expression as opposed to a "cookie cutter" approach. His good vibe is thought provoking & his structure is the rhythm!
Limcolico is a great teacher but the online class is a work load. If you do not keep up with the course material you will fall behind. There is a fair amount of reading but not too much. I enjoy his tough assignments when they can be kind of annoying. He is a awesome grader! He really does care about his class and students
He's super chill, not a hard class. Really just have to do the work. He's very accommodating to his students.
There would always b something 2 read, do, or study for. Attendance policy was no more than 4 absences. Hes pretty helpful when u ask but sometimes he can be vague. U will participate every other day by sharing what you wrote 4 hw & theres also group presentations. Provide nice feedback on essays. Looots of work but he grades pretty leniently.
Great teacher! Very flexible and lay back. He cares more about you expanding your perspective and becoming a better writer than the petty stuff. The reading we had was cool and is great at answering questions. I give him an A+ take him
Professor Limcolioc really makes you appreciate the English language. He's very understanding of his students. Way to an "A" is to do the reading and try your best on the essays. My favorite English teacher. Would take the whole EWRT sequence with him.
Very insightful professor. Gives you a lot of leeway and lets you interpret text on your own. Very easy grader. How to get an A: 1) Do ALL OF THE READINGS (don't skip any, no matter how long. your midterm will appreciate it) 2) turn in all assignments ON TIME That's it Easy grader. I thought I got a 40% on the midterm; ended up with an 87%
(For EWRT1A/2: A-/B+) Assignments are pretty straight forward. Tries to understand his students and any issues to help solve them. Works with you if you put in the effort. Assigns essays back to back, but lenient with time. Gives you freedom when writing. Goal is to be able to write essays about some topic and answer why your point matters.
Limcolioc has been one of the best English professors I've taken at De Anza. I took 1B a long time after I took 1A but because he has thorough explanations and straightforward assignments, I didn't find going back to English class intimidating at all. I definitely recommend him to anyone who has to take English for GE.
I took EWRT1a class was more than two hours long. Expect a ton of homework and online quizzes before each class. Lectures are lengthy and dull. But he is a fair grader.
Professor Limcolioc's was EWRT 2 class an easy A. He graded very leniently and I learned a lot. He assigns a good amount of work, but they all take no more than 15 minutes to complete and he grades based on completion rather than quality. I would recommend his EWRT 2 class to boost your GPA and fulfill you GE requirement.
Professor Limcolioc was so helpful yet his class was a free GPA booster. I would take his EWRT 2 class online any day.
Professor Limcolioc is the best English teacher I've ever met. He strives for quality, yet his grading system is very easy. If you don't understand him, you can send him an email and he would reply almost instantly! This was very helpful for his online class and I would totally recommend him for EWRT 2 or any English class!
Boost your GPA with Professor Limcolioc's EWRT 2 class. This is an easy A and you will pass for sure even if you don't do the work.
Easy grader. There were a lot of assignments that I didn't think I did so well on but when I got them back he gives me a 90-100%. He wants you to read a chapter from the textbook that's provided online and take a quiz on it every week. Do all the reading since he wants the essays to reflect what you've read in the textbook. Do the work and get an A
He is a very mild professor and goes on about his lectures. He does stop to answer questions. His voice is soothing but that's a bad thing when I had this class in the morning. Observations and online discussions!
Had him for fully-online EWRT 2 class. Three essays to do, first two are one a set of RadioLab podcasts, and last one was more traditional and on Frankenstein. First half of course had weekly textbook reading and quizzes. 2 weekly discussions each. Late submission penalty for essays and discussions is light. Diligently do the work to get an A.
Amazing and kind professor. Explains how essays will be formatted but some interpretation is up to students. Easy grader but at times seems subjective. 4 essays + final. You have a lot of freedom on what to write about. Willing to help and read over your essay before it's due. Most reading is online in pdf form so you save money.
Pretty easy class. A little harder than being just an easy A but not very difficult. He gives you tons of help and is really understanding. Also lets you rewrite essays if you score below passing. Accepts late work. Class isn't mandatory but he takes attendance most days. And often lets students leave early.
I took his online course for English 1B, and the class isn't that bad. Although there's quite a few reading, make sure you actually read them for essays. Since I took Luis's online class, participation such as replying to other student's comments is important for good grade. Overall, great experience as an online course.
Listen, let me start by say Luis is a chill dude who seems to genuinely care about his students. But for the sake of your sanity, social life, and grades in other classes DO NOT TAKE HIM. He assigns a ridiculous amount of work, every week there is a super in depth quiz on a reading. Oh, and none of the quizzes are multiple choice. Find a better prof
If you tend to procrastinate, I don't recommend him at all. However, if you like to learn English, I would definitely recommend him. Although he asked us to read a lot, he asks us to write about what you really think about the literature not like answering the questions. Even as an international student, I recommend him if you are diligent.
Don't usually leave reviews, but I felt like he deserved more! I took EWRT1A then EWRT2 online. Bc I took his EWRT1A already, EWRT2 was easy because his teaching method was similar. Honestly reaallllyyy easy bc all u do are discussions + easy canvas quizzes. If u follow the main textbook, ull do well on essays. If u put in effort, ull get an A!
He's super chill and nice. He respected students' point of view and tried to address a little. His class was very helpful and easy to pass. Taking his class made me feel like chatting at the lounge or sth. Would take his other class in the future!
I am so glad I took him for English 1A this past quarter! When I did not score my best, he clearly told me what to do for a better grade. He is clear on his instructions, patient, & will help you if you ask. I learned A LOT and became a better writer thanks to Professor Limcolioc! I 100% recommend & I am excited to take English 2 this quarter w/him
Suuuper nice and chill professor! What I learned in the class truly improved my writing and the discussions we have are actually interesting!! I never even write reviews but he really deserves it. 10/10 recommend!!
Do all the work and you can probably get an A. He grades the essays a bit weirdly and they're about 45% of your grade. If you mess up or get a low score on even one essay you're probably not going to end up with an A in the class. I'd recommend taking a different professor online. Overall not a bad option though. I got my first A- in his class.
I enjoyed reading and writing when it came to his class. He respects students' work, he leaves positive comments and lets you know what could've been added unlike most teachers that make you feel dumb with condescending comments. Love his choice in the stories we read. He actually WANTS you to pass. You will feel like you earned your grade.
This class actually teaches you how to write analytically, whether you want to learn or not. Comparing my first and final essay in the class, there is a pretty huge difference. She doesn't grade too easily, though getting an A is about as hard as getting an A in an honors or AP class in high school.
He is the best professor I've ever met. He doesn't show you the correct answer, but he tries to help students to find the way they want to go. He not only improves your writing skills but also broadens your view of the world. And it will definitely help you in the next English or other classes. Hope to take his class again!
Yo trust me and RUN. This guy legit is the most monotone teacher in the state of California. He legit talks about English straight out of the textbook. This is one of the reasons why my GPA tanked. Tough grader and expects a lot and feedback is almost non-existent.
Online class, pretty easy. 3 essays, 2 based off podcasts 1 based on Frankenstein. Takes off points without giving a reason- ex: "(48/50) Good". So not great feedback. Seems like a nice guy though, made final essay optional because of COVID 19, probably a 1 time thing though, but still nice. Not a fast grader, some things take a while.
DONT TAKE HIM
I really liked the reading material in this class and the assignments were relatively easy to do. You have to write and read a lot but he gives fair grading. There is also a good balance of giving you time to finish the work if you plan on taking more than one class. I recommend taking him.
One of the best structured online courses for a 5 unit class, IMO. His approach to EWRT1A is analytical; 5 essays, 5-7 analytical notation assignments + a few discussion posts. No textbook required. Interesting & relevant course materials. Feedback is vague but to the point. Must complete weekly course work before following week is available to you
Great content and nice man. However, the structure of the quizzes is very disconcerting: long essay-like answers required on many quizzes without enough time given to answer. Ambiguous grading: even if you answer the question thoroughly with cites, you will receive feedback that your responses are "excellent" but points are deducted, anyway.
Structure of the class is good. Weekly format is lesson, readings, discussion and quiz. Lessons are pretty short, but there is a lot of reading to do so manage your time. Discussion posts and the final essay are analytical. Luis is a bit vague on his feedback for a majority of assignments but he makes it clear what he's grading you on.
I took Mr. Limcolioc's online class and all in all, it was good. The structure of it is simple and you'll essentially be doing the same types of assignments every week. Discussions, quizzes, occasional essays. His feedback is a bit of a drawback however, expect a lot of "45/50 good" or "80/100 be more in depth", so not much to go off of.
Weekly lessons are clear. Is very understanding and always ready to help his students. Flexible with assignments. Has interesting subjects that enlighten your surroundings and self-awareness. Gives great reading material to achieve goals and applies the student success center to ensure everyone gets assistance to stay on track.
I took Prof. Limcolioc for my 2021 winter quarter. His courses are generally quite easy and interesting and the amount of work you will get is manageable. about 4 hours of homework on average a week, half of this is listening to a podcast or reading though. His lectures unfortunately seem sometimes unnecessary as he discusses things did previously.
Professor Limcolioc was a very sweet professor and I recommend taking his class. I thoroughly enjoyed the topics we talked about and the podcasts we got to listen to. He is clear about what he wants in terms of grading essays which is great. He also really took the time to explain everything thoroughly. Don't miss his quizzes!
Understand that Limcolioc teaches writing skills that you will already be expected to know once you transfer. If you want an effortless A don't take him. If you want to learn HOW to write well at a transfer level, enroll.
Didn't really like the use of podcasts instead of reading for two of the essays. I wanted literary analysis/research not NPR analysis. Overall he's a nice guy and a lenient grader in my opinion. Expect to write politically charged papers...I don't know if he'd dock off points for more conservative/unpopular opinions because I didn't take that risk.
Took his class online and loved it! Lots of students have trouble with participating in his discussions on time, but as long as you participate (as in posting discussion responses), do your reading and fill out the word limit, you will be fine. His office hours are pretty empty and really good for reviewing essays. Would def take him again&again!
he gives you a ridiculous amount of work, doesnt actually teach you anything. You teach yourself, a lot of reading and a lot of writing. Only has 1 zoom call once a week after the week is almost over to go over what you were supposed to do. Cannot makeup anything. I say not to take him if you actually want to learn and pass.
Don't bother, feedback is extremely vague and refuses to take responsibility for anything that might happen in class. Multiple quizzes and discussions every week which consume most of your grade. Extremely vague and confusing prompts for essays, short answer questions and more.
I have learned a lot about how to better compose an argumentative essay after this class. You have to work very hard to get a good grade. Workload is very heavy and there are frequent quizzes and observation posting. Be prepared to read a lot of articles, listen to podcasts, and read a book. There are 4 essays to write in total, including 2 timed.
Definitely not an effortless A, you have to put in the work for the grade you get. He structures his class modules very well. He does take off some points without giving much reason. Expect things like 47/50 - good. Overall, the class is not easy but you will find that your writing will improve a lot.
Professor Limcolioc is a great Professor and seems to care a great deal about challenging his students to produce their best work. Yes, this course includes a lot of reading and essays, but that is to be expected from an English class. I would recommend Professor Limcolioc to anyone looking to build upon their existing reading and writing skills.
He was very nice! He always extended late work for me even on QUIZZES. I told him straightforwardly that I forgot about them and he was very understanding and extended it for the whole class. This applies to all the homework he has been assigned. He's a really awesome professor!
You will work for your grade. The toughest English course I've taken, but I think it made me better- even in the online setting. I can't be mad at my grade despite my hard work. He knows his stuff and doesn't give you an A for participation. Excellent professor, rigorous course.
To echo the review before me, this is a rather demanding English class. It's not impossible; truthfully, it's manageable if you know how to use your time wisely. Take this class if you want to actually learn how to write well and are looking for a challenge; also make sure your other classes are pretty light. Otherwise: avoid.
He is overall a good teacher. He helped me with structuring an essay by using a method I've never used before and my writing was definitely better after his class. There is a lot of reading and writing and discussion posts, but they ultimately help with your essay since you can use them in your essay as well. He is a really nice guy!
Bulk of the grade is based on 4 essays and discussion posts that lead up to each essay. Discussions were good because the responses that I wrote gave me a starting point for each of the essays. Most of his lectures were just the stuff that's in Canvas, so the benefit of showing up to class was getting questions answered and keeping attendance up.
Took his class during spring and it was pretty challenging. Recommend taking no more than two classes if you consider taking this class because you will need A LOT of time than you expect but after all this is a critical writing class. This class is for people who can manage their time but this professor gives you helpful advice.
He is a kind teacher that gives solid feedback on essays. He is very accommodating when it comes to deadlines, which is considerate. You can tell that he wants his students to succeed.
Professor Limcolioc is very helpful and kind. We had lenient deadlines and he always gave clear instructions for how he wanted us to write and format our essays. The essays in his class were never stressful or overwhelming, and he gives good feedback. I would strongly recommend him as an English professor.
Professor is very helpful and kind! He is also very approachable with any questions or concerns! I think he explained all of the essay lessons in a great way that improved my writing. Grading criteria are also structured and straightforward, definitely recommend taking his English classes!
I took his class in my first quarter and I learned a lot about English writing. As an international student, I didn't know about how to compose an essay structure. He taught everything about essays and always tried to help students to succeed. He gave a lot of assignments but it was worth taking his class
He's good! Responds to emails fast, gives great constructive feedback (tough grader tho), and cares about his students. He does dock off points for no particular reason on discussion posts and he has a word count requirement for discussions (300-500) and essay drafts + final essays (at least 1000). The reading content he assigns is pretty engaging.
The class is well-tailored to a certain extent that a new language learner like me find it super easy to comprehend. One remark is that the course might be heavy sometimes due to large workloads. Otherwise, a nice and caring person I have ever met.
He was a decent prof at the beginning but as the term went on he began grading harder. When I asked if I could resubmit the assignment all I was told is that my grade was passing so I could not. There were quizzes every week and lots of discussion posts. Would not take again because its not meant to be so hard
The class is intensive and I wouldn't recommend taking many other classes alongside it. It is designed well to prepare students to write analytical essays. Reading the textbook and the source material for the quizzes and discussion posts, respectively, in-depth will set you up to write good essays as long as you follow the provided methodologies.
Professor Limcolioc's EWRT1A class is challenging but rewarding. The workload is heavy with frequent essays, but he provides clear guidance and supportive feedback. For study prep, I found unstuckstudy ai and the free textbook very helpful alongside the lectures.
No matter how bad you need to take an EWRT class, if this is the only class that is available for the quarter, DO NOT TAKE IT. The professor's grading is extremely senseless. It is like he vowed to not give a student a good grade on any assignment. You have too much work in the class and in the end, you're rewarded with a ridiculous grade.
Focused on making students write about stressful current topics than learning to analyze. Says to analyze but gives surface level topic. Grades poorly for not following a specific essay structure. Essays are graded mostly on the first draft, before you get any feedback. Doesn't reply to emails. Textbook is hard to follow and not useful.
Grades very harshly and even if every criteria is hit on the rubric it does not guarantee an A on the essay. Class is relaxing and very manageable with any type of schedule, but the way he grades is unlike any other professor.
Most of the assignments were discussion posts based on the podcast/book, did not give good feedback on small assignments but gave better feedback on the essay drafts/final essays, 5 quizzes based on the textbook, 3 essays, final is a paper that builds off of a previous essay, really wants you to develop your analysis, hard but useful class
Prof Luis is such a nice instructor that wants you to succeed. It might be confusing a little bit if you have never taken him before as the way he asks you to write your essays might be different from other instructors. One hassle is that you have to read Frankeinstein which is pretty hard, but you can use AI to assist you.
He is definitely a difficult teacher and it will be a very stressful and unpredictable class. He won't give feedback on smaller assignments if he took points off The advice given on the essays is not all of the improvements necessary + they are not usually very specific. His office hours are very helpful and I highly recommend regularly attending.
Be ready for timed quizzes and essays without knowing the topic beforehand and only getting one hour to do them and very strict on his grading.
Professor Limcolioc is a good professor who wants you to succeed. However, the class is intensive and he is a picky grader. He assigns a lot of reading and writing each week. There are peer reviews for essays. He doesn't provide great feedback in the comments, so if you want more detailed feedback, email him or go to his office hours.
Don't take his class. He doesn't know how to grade. He says the writing is good and proceeds to give 80/100. If he doesn't like it then he could just say it wasn't good instead of saying it was good and giving 80/100. His assignments are also weighted very weirdly cause getting a 92/100 in an assignment doesn't do too much.
He was an interesting professor. It is really easy for your grade to go up if you do well on an assignment, and the same is true if you don't do well on an assignment. If you follow the rubric and work hard, you'll do well in the class. Many of his assignments are 100+ points, so be aware of that.
Would not recommend taking this class at all. If it's the only English class left just avoid it. He's very harsh on grading, and the ‘feedback' is the same everytime, he isn't specific with what could help improve your work. On the final the feedback I was given was in between of “oh well.”
The professor was not very flexible with due dates nor accommodating when issues arose. In my experience he was rather harsh with his word choices and the tone in which he interacted with me.
The professor is kind and willing to help you improve your paper, but you must understand the textbook well, as it forms the foundation of your work. His feedback on discussion posts is often vague—he might say “great work,” but the grade doesn't always match. The class is time-consuming, so be prepared or drop this course.
There's no clear grading criteria, all the feedbacks are meaningless, hell naw Imma sue him
Mr. Limcolioc is an amazing Professor who inspired me to open my mind and become a better writer. His lessons have stayed with me and carried me all the way through to Harvard Extension School! His guidance and suggestions can change your life. I never thought I would be here now, but I have him to thank.
Just really wasn't a good teacher. Made things overly complicated.
he's okay. gives good feedback on essays and is very easy to reach out to. would recommend if your major is actually related to writing and/or if you like profs who challenge you a bit. if you just need GE credit and also like profs who challenge you a bit, i'd recommend him too.
I'm not the type to drop classes, but this class is a lot of work. I would recommend this to someone who is passionate about English, joins office hours (as there isn't feedback unless you ask), and has a light schedule. I only took this class for three weeks, but the workload stressed me out. He's nice, but the class is very time-consuming.
i actually hated taking this class -- i took it for summer credit since i go to a four year and he was actually so difficult for no reason and graded so harshly. he is very by the book when it comes to writing -- which is really frustrating when you actually like have a writing voice or style...not a fan
Course contains lots of discussion posts, quizzes and 4 8-paragraph essays in total. If you can do the basic analysis, observations, etc. then you can handle the class. When it comes to the essays, he writes out a whole lesson about what each paragraph should contain so it's easier. Homework is straight forward, quiz is based on online textbook.
He's a nice person and wants you to succeed, but it's difficult to maintain a good grade if you don't grasp the concepts of critical thinking/writing fast. It's easy to get points knocked off on essays, so use the resources he posts because those can really help. Aside from essays, there's really just discussion posts which are easy if you try.
oh man was I fighting for my borderline 93%. He's definitely a tough grader. He is not fond of AI writing your work, so he uses AI to counter AI which is kinda funny. Even if you follow instructions for assignments, it wont get u an auto A because he is SUPER picky. If you want a challenge, take him. If not, it will def bite you in the donkey.
