He does a great job explaining the material, and he is very willing to answer questions.

Wonderful, he explains everything and has wonderful notes. He gives out practice tests and gives you points for asking him questions out of class.

I only had him for lab, wish i had him for lecture as well.(had whitesell..dont take him! hes sweet but unorganized/not helpful in learning)montes, however is very clear...but doesnt seem to have much of a sense of humor...always serious.

He is very helpful if you go see him after class. It is very essential to go to him for clarity after you take his notes in class, because he glosses over a lot of the major information that will be on his tests. He seems flaky at times, though. But he is a pretty decent professor.

Dr. Montes is absolutely the most outstanding professor to be teaching such a difficult subject. His lectures are simplified and he knows how to teach. I won't go so far as to say it is an easy class, but he makes it much better.

I always enjoyed going to his class. His lectures are interesting and he explains things very well. His exams are kinda difficult but he gives you a study guide beforehand and lets you get partial credit back for corrected problems. He also gives bonus points for office visits. TAKE HIM!!

Great professor! Always open for questions. U take a lot of quizzes, but they really prepare you for the test. Never got out of class early or had class canceled though. If you go to class then you should have no problem though!

My comments are similar to the rest. Except I seemed to have a little more trouble than the other people on here? He is really helpful and really will try to help you understand. His tests are hard, but he gives awesome notes. If I were going to take more Chem it would be with him.

He is an excellent professor. If you pay attention in class and take great notes, you should do well on your tests. Always ask questions if you don't understand something because he wants to help.

I totally suck at math and he does help. His office hours aren't always convienent but he helps. Tests come exactly like the study guide, just different numbers. The only thing that sucks is the homework that is assigned on the internet. Those questions he does not go over and those are hard and he give a 2-5 question quiz every friday.

Dr. Montes is a good professor, but this class is pretty tough. He lets you correct your tests for some extra points and he also gives some extra points for going to his office for help. The online homework sucks and so do the tests. I like Dr. Montes, but I hate this class!

By far the best Prof. I've had at UCO. Had great notes that are easy to understand and learn. Tests are ok but you can do corrections. Quizes are easy as well. Homework on the other hand was horriable but just go ask him for help and he will be glad to. Overall I highly recommend him to everyone that can take him.

This guy is by far the best teacher i've had in college yet. You can make test corrections, the study guides are almost identical to the test, if you need help he's always there and the homework isn't hard at all its all from the book.

Dr. Montez is Phenomenal!!! His lectures are always interesting and relevant. He is understanding, and gives a quiz every week so you see what you do/don't understand. His tests can be corrected for points, which motivates you to learn what you don't know. Additionally, he learns names really quickly. If I had to take Chem 2, I would take Montez.

This class was amazing! Dr. Montes made the class as enjoyable as possible with his cheesy jokes about Chemistry. He loves what he does and you can tell. He also wants to see his students to succeed and you can tell because he gives test corrections, extra points, and extra credit. If you put an effort in you can do amazingly in this class.

Best Chemistry teacher. I was very worried about the class prior of taking it; but his explanation made it much easier! Writes on board instead of powerpoints so goes step by step with you to explain his lessons. Highly recommended. You are also able to do test correction to raise you test scores, AND EXTRA CREDIT for office visits :D

I love Dr. Montes! He tries to make class more interesting by placing you in groups to work problems (for practice) with during class. If you regularly attend, and take good notes, you should do really well! He's just one of those professors that genuinely cares about his students.

He gives them every class. Study guides give you a very idea of what the test will be like. Know those inside and out, do Mastering Chemistry and you'll be ok.

i'm definitely taking him again for the next chem class. wonderful sense of humor along with fantastic way to learn. we did get a little behind near the end of this semester, but,that was only because he is very patient with helping other students. For some people chemistry is very hard. If you are one of those people that think that, take Montes.

Montes is an AMAZING professor! He is very specific in explaining things in class so you understand them. I visited his office hours multiple times for extra clarification and he was very helpful. Multiple choice on the test are very hard, so work problems from the book and you'll do great. Gives extra credit for attendance and office visits!

Go to class. Use all the opportunities he gives you to meet with him and get so many free points! Study hard, and you will get a good grade. 4 tests, which aren't too bad if you study. The final is standardized, but he curves it a lot. I would recommend investing in the study guide ($21). It's for Chem. 1 and 2. He's a wonderful teacher!

If you take the class, be prepared to do work. It is not an easy class, but he tries to help as much as you can, especially during office hours.

Montes is Amazing! I'm a Humanities major and I got an A in his Class. His lectures are clear and easy to follow. He makes a tough subject really easy to understand. My suggestion is do all the Mastering Chemistry HW he assigns and do the review for the exam and you'll be fine. I also suggest study groups they really help when it comes to exam day.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying. All the lectures are online and you do group problems in class. Does some lecture in class but mostly it feels like an online course. Lectures, homework, and quizzes are all online but is still mandatory to come to class. Very nice professor and easy to approach with questions. Test are hard

Dr. Montes is a boss. He's absolutely amazing at explaining chemistry concepts and knows them inside and out. Do the test review he gives you and read over your notes and you will do well on the tests. It's essential that you take him for Chem 1 and 2; he's the best teacher in the department.

Dr. Montes is Great. I took him for chem 1 but honestly i wouldn't recommend it. I worked my butt off to get an A. You must do a lot of outside studying. Reading the chapters and doing practice problems are essential to getting an A. He was constantly behind the lab and seemed to rush through his lectures.

Dr. Montes is a teaching machine sent back in time to save our planet from mass scientific illiteracy. He delivers each lecture on the whiteboard in a color-coded format, providing examples of how to work problems, and he even outlines how some topics apply to daily life. Dr. Montes cares about his students' learning and it shows. Nice ties, too.

Dr. Montes is fantastic! Rather than rote memorization, he focuses heavily on making sure his students truly understand the concepts he teaches. Between the videos, class lectures, Mastering Chemistry homework, and group work, he presents the material in multiple ways to accommodate all different learning styles. 10/10 would take again.

Such a great professor! He genuinely cares about your education and wants to see you succeed. As long as you watch the videos and come to class prepared, it shouldn't be too hard at all. When grading, we always tries to give you as many points as he can (aka partial credit)! He also lets you do test corrections for extra credit on tests! He rocks

Dr. Montes is one of the best professors I've had. It was a "flipped" class meaning we watched his lecture and took notes on it from D2L before class. In class he answered any questions we had, as well was went over tricky topics, then gave us a worksheet to complete for no grade. Mastering chemistry homework, and offered generous test corrections.

You won't find a better professor. Flipped classroom concept that makes chemistry a lot easier to understand and retain. He is always willing to help you understand any concept you are struggling with.

I suck at chemistry, and I got an A. All credit goes to the format of this class! You watch the lectures online before class, then go to class and are able to ask questions and do assignments with classmates. One of my favorite professors of all tome. He genuines cares about his students and their success. He doesnt use textbooks which is awesome. His classes are a flipped format. You watch videos that he makes before class and then you come to class asking questions and working through the material. TAKE HIM BECAUSE HE ROCKS!!

His flipped class type is really great, you spend most of your time learning and trying out the material youve been taught instead of just sitting through lectures. Take him for chemistry II, hes one of my favorite professors at UCO.

Dr. Montes is the best professor I have had. I have taken his Chem 1, 2, & professional courses. He genuinely cares about how he is presenting material to his students, which is rare. I changed my major to chemistry after taking his classes- he's THAT good! If you put in the work, you will excel. He is incredibly straight forward and caring. 10/10

Lecture videos online before class then discuss the main topics and do a worksheet in class. There are quizzes every Thursday which are pretty easy if you study. Homework is online. Tests aren't too hard because there are so many opportunities to see the information between the videos, worksheets, quizzes, homework, and the SI meetings. Some bonus.

Offers lots of extra credit/bonus points, test corrections, videos are clear to understand, tests and quizzes are extremely straightforward. Wish all my professors were like Dr. Montes to be honest.

Montes is AMAZING. Even if you have to take his course virtually/extended, you have nothing to worry about. There are tons of point opportunities and lots of practice problems for his Quests. He really cares about everyone's success!

One of my favorite professors! He loves chemistry and you can tell because he can answer any type of question you have. We did a lot of group work, but it actually helped a lot to get down the information and understand it well. You definitely have to show up to class and put in effort, but as long as you show up and ask questions you're good.

I took Chem 2 with Dr. Montes, and I can easily say he's the best professor I've had. The extra credit for this course is attendance and office hours. Also, this is a flipped course so you watch videos before class and then discuss and ask questions about the videos during class. You do have to do group work, but it's simple! Take him as a prof!

I loved Dr. Montes, he is so wise and inspirational! The flipped class is a bit hard but if you push yourself to look over all thats necessary youll end up understanding chemistry on a new level! The class is also split up into smaller tests per chapter which is great for retention!

Dr. Montes may be the best chemistry professor at UCO. He teaches in a "switched" format, with pre-recorded video lectures before the actual lecture in class. Before each class period, there is a video quiz, and a group quiz in class. There is ALEKS and some other homework, but as long as you put in an effort you can get an A.

First time taking a flipped class and was a great experience. The pre-class videos and group aspect really helps in understanding the material. Always gives bonus opportunity on Quests. Really wants you to succeed not just in this class but in your academic career. Pushes you to challenge what works for you in studying and understanding material.

Dr. Montes is possibly the best teacher I've had at UCO. You watch prerecorded lectures over the material and you take a quest after every chapter which make studying for them a lot easier in my opinion since you aren't covering multiple chapters in one test. He gives you 2 bonus points for the first 5 office visits which is 10 bonus points total.

Montes was a funny and great professor, and he kept the class engaging! It is flipped lecture but the videos outside of class are short and easy. He is willing to help as much as he can and as of now all his tests are online. He made the material easy to understand and was always quick to reply to emails.

Professor Montes is one of the best science professors I have ever had. I struggle in Chemistry but he made it enjoyable. He makes it doable to get points various different ways and not just the exam. You're put in small groups in a flipped classroom style. Work through the worksheets 2-3 times before each Quest and you'll do great.

Dr. Montes is the best professor I have had yet! He seemed to try his best to explain things in more than one way if someone wasn't understanding. He called it a flipped course because you are supposed to watch a few short lecture videos before coming to class. I found this very helpful! He was always quick to respond as well.
