great teacher, 3 open book tests and an open book final , 3 writing assignments and a very fair grader.

He is a good teacher, especially his open book test and study guide before the test
Super easy class, and open book tests... can't get any easier. Great teacher, if you start talking to him he's pretty cool.
He is so boring. Reads stuff from his notes. Only advantage is "open book tests."
Not as easy as i think. u have to read a lot.
His lectures are very boring, he practically reads out of the book. He assigns a lot of readings and writing assignments but its possible to get an easy A if you are willing to work for it. He is a good guy, though and wants you to do well.
BORING is the word. And lots of reading. But easy A
all his tests are open book, the class is kinda boring unless you're interested in that type of stuff so luckily you don't have to read or anything but you have to do some work when you get the review sheet becuz the whole test is on the review sheet
Alot of reading to do. he covers the topics pretty well but pretty boring... make sure you listen though if you don't plan on reading. as for the open book test... not as easy as you think but fairly ok if you read the text. oh yes essay after every test
BOring boring boring. good night
Really nice guy, knows his stuff. Do your stuff and you'll get an A.
very easy class... u can get an A without trying as hard as other classes... nice teacher... cool when u talk to him.
BORING, reads from the book, stutters. Otherwise, great guy and helps you get an A.
THE CLASS IS A JOKE.. ITS AN EASY A.. BUT THERE IS A COST.. HIS LECTURES ARE BORINGGGGGGG.. THE GUY READS FROM 7 PAGES ODF NOTES.. VERBATIM!!!
his lectures are really boring and you don't need to copy the notes for the tests because they're open book. he's a nice guy but the class is so boring..easy A though =)
He's VERY BORING. His lectures are torture and he takes attendance,we had to do 3 4page papers and take 4 tests. Not incredibly easy because you really have to read the stuff and prepare to do well in the course. He appeared to be easy with the grades
This guy loves sociology and loves hearing his students thoughts and discussions. Kind of monotonous lectures, but when you realize how well-studied on SOC and caring for his students he is you should have no problem getting into it. Great guy.
anyone have comments about his crime/justice class? easy, difficult? exams? papers?
not clear in explaning.
easy to get A but lots of reading. gives study guides. final is take-home. takes attendence. 4 papers 4 exams no quizes. all exams are open book. however, no time to even open the book-no need of book during the exam. nice guy. knows soc well. but boring.
Mr. Nuno is a very EZ teacher. He gives 4 exams (The last one is a take home) U have to read 3 textbooks. Have to hand in 4 writing assignments based on the reading of the textbooks. Get to hand in 3 extra credit papers on movies. Drop lowest exam grade.
5 required textbooks,5 additional recommended texts.Additional articles on blackboard.Alot of reading due,2pg weekly summaries for total of 10.Takehome midterm+final essay exam+1 term paper due at end od course.1 group+1 indivdual presentations.
Too much work for a sociology class. Ridiculous requirements. Its a literature, english, speech, and sociology class all in one.
Just horrible. Lectures are boring. Everybody is sleeping. Covers only 30% of the exams on lectures. It's a pity you can't give zero points.
Awful. Doesn't prepare for exams. Too many assignments.
very thoughtful professor. knows lots of things and cares about students' feelings. lots of assignments but all are not hard. he makes people want to learn more. interesting lectures especially stories he tells in the class
Well, he is a nice guy, however, very unclear when speaking. Seems new at teaching. ALOT of reading and writing. I know its College, but come on, weekly response papers, a midterm, final and term paper consisting of about 10 pages each, and a group presentation and individual presentation is a littl

If you are ready to do all he asks for in class, you can deffinetly score a high grade. Plus, he is a very nice guy. The tests are in essay form, write small paragraphs answering the questions (which by the way he gives to you on the review sheet).
he is a very nice prof dont get me wrong but sooo much work. his tests have nothing to do with lectures. i got nothing higher than a 40 on his tests and i dropped that s**t. his tests r like 65 m.c. 4 fill in and 3 essays. if u have no life take this class.
Great guy, but lectures are a bit boring if you do not read the text. Requires the reading of 3 texts, very time consuming. BUt you end up learning a lot. Take this class if you have the time to read them. HIs exams (4) are pretty easy if you do the readings.
3 papers+3exams+take home final, no midterm. Very nice guy, gives study guides to reviews for tests, the readings arents so bad he usually goes over them in class. Easy to pass, he even gives extra credit. Class can be a bit boring but what class isn't?
He is a ok professor, he gives weekly response papers, a midterm, term paper and take home final exam. This class is alot of reading about theories of criminology, if you are into this topic, go for it, if you just want a easy elective class this is not it, he is boring & this class is alot of work.
Professor does not respect other points of view and grades accordingly; this class notwithstanding, I have a 4.0 GPA. Professor is boring, unclear and inarticulate; will allow ridiculous assertions to go unquestioned if in line with his personal beliefs; I should have known better.
First 2 weeks of class are somewhat interesting. After that, it's downhill. He lectures in a monotonous tone and pauses 4-5 times in a sentence. Tough grader, hard to figure out what he wants. If you want an A, you have to do his extra credit assignments.
He gives a 35 question outline to study from. His test has 3 parts: one or two sentence answer part, short paragraph part, and essay part. He makes u do two group projects. His test aren't from the notes. He doesn't know how to keep the students interested, so remember to bring coffee to class.
BORING!!Only take it if u are ABSOLUTELY interested & willing to do the work.Gives 40-50 pgs of reading for EVERY CLASS!Readings are BORING!Gives take-home midterm & final that consist of LONG essays, and a 5 pg term paper.Mandatory 1 pg reaction papers to hw readings.Thinks u hav nothing todobutread
Okay, he doesn't make it the most interesting class you will ever have, but it is an easy A. His test are all open book, and he gives you a study sheet w/ all the questions he is going to ask. The papers are not really that bad.
The class is pretty easy. He does give a lot to read, but you do not actually have to read all of it. He gives a great study sheet and you just have to highlight stuff using the index. The class is kind of boring, but he gave an extra 10 pts at the end just for being there. I received an A.
He made this class much harder than it should be. Too many readings, papers, etc. I think he forgot it's an intro class. He'll even quote from the readings on the exams and ask you to fill in missing words. It's a crazy class. He's really nice, but the class is too hard... It's just not worth all the work. My suggestion: avoid at all costs.
He gives a lot of readings, but you can work at your own pace. You must use your own experiences in your papers, not just the readings! Make sure you follow instructions, they are constantly changing and he is very picky.
good teacher
devout marxist
he's a goof prof. it's an easy A if you do your work. he gives a lot of readings but you can read it at your own pace. he gives you the topics and most of the questions that's going to be on the exam you just have to study them and read the materials. some classes were very fun and some classes were ok, depends on the topic being covered that day.
do not take the guy becauze u'll be crying all the semester. He looks easy in te begining but when it comes up to grading that;s where your gpa goes down.If you take him you will regret it!
I am not American so some of the topics were new to me. Very funny and nice guy. Cute too!
He is good professor.Students complain that he is very hard. Just do your work, read books, and participate in class discussions! He doesn't want a lot!It was easy class for me.
A lot of work, that's true but that wasn't the biggest problem. The problem is that he is unclear in his demands. You can't really figure what he expects you to do.VERY UNCLEAR.Kind of floating with his lectures and answers so until you really pin him down you won't get a straight response.
took crime and justice in soc perspective in fall 2004 and professor indoctrinates the class; i completely agree with the other comment below calling him a devout marxist because he is..whats sad is the sociology department does not give a damn..if you have experience anything similar with this professor, please report him..
This guys sucks. His class is beyond boring. He's very biased and is truly a devout Marxist. He gives way too much reading for an intro course. His lectures are terrible. STAY AWAY FROM HIM!...and Im doing well in the course, so Im not angry b/c of a bad grade!
He is horrible. His gives too much reading, he is boring, his lectures are boring and its is apparent that his lectures are not well prepared. His lectures are filled with "aah" and "um." Think about hearing that after every single word when you decide to take him. Do not even take him as a last resort.
great teacher keep it up
I really like this guy. He is challenging, so don't take him if you don't like to work. You will really benefit from his discussions if this is your major. He really cares about students, that is why he doesn't spoon-feed them!
He is not Just
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! stay away!! he does not know what he is talking about.. stands in front of class reading off his notes, extremely boring! very bad and unfair teaching policies.. easy tests, hard assignments!
He is not that bad, however, it is really hard to do well on his tests. Take him if you are really interested in Sociology and ready to read a lot.
He is a cool guy!...i dint read any of the readings he assigned or ever pay attention in his class..but i ended up with an A...
Whether class is easy or hard, this prof is extremely boring. B/c he's new teacher, he doesn't know what he's talking. You'll not be motivated to work at all. I strongly recommend that you think again before you register his class.
Not Clear, Not Helpful, Not Smart and not Good. He is the worse professor I ever took in my life. I got an A- in his exam and I have no Idea what is he talking about.
I have nothing good to say about this guy and I don't like to say bad things. I hope that he would stop teaching and do everybody a favor.
Take him if you appreciate anarchy. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and run as fast as you can when ever you hear the name NUNO. NUNO = No NO!!! in Spanish.
Whoa, the first day I signed up for his class, something was telling me he isn't right from the start. He was definitely in a world of his own. He wasn't making any sense! I listened to the other students from this site and dropped him.
He is very strict and teaches the introductory level course as it it was a graduate course. He seems to forget its not our major. His exams and reviews do not correlate and he reads his notes in class. There is a lot of reading involved, some of which are interesting but it is very hard to get a decent grade in his class.
He is totally unclear to convey the teachings of sociology. He worships his subject and doesn't want to listen to anyone else says to him. I got bunked on the group assingemnt he gives so watch out for it.He gives a thousand pages to read and like also reference books and material on blackboard. If you get him get ready to read tons of material.
This professor is totally engulfed in his own world. He does not listen to the opinions of others but emphazises everything from written material. He tries to manipulate students ideas and tries to compensate for something he lacks.I would highly recommend not taking him if you are not a sociology major.
Professor Nuno uses his classroom room as a forum to obsessively belittle ideas he disagrees with. It is truly pathetic what THE NEW SCHOOL is producing. Be careful what you say, your grade may depend on it!
BEWARE!
JUST SAY NO! Worst experience I've ever had. Lectures are extremely dull, reads directly from his notes rarely making any sense. His exams do not correspond with his review sheets and neither do the readings.
hey i'm a pretty good student but this guy sucks..... i am not hating but the class is about the world being against Mexicans.
Arrogant, unprofessional, and closed-minded
he is not bad at all, just spend some time on the readings he assignes and make good notes and you'll end up with an A.Good grades are not given easily, but if you'll put some effort - you'll have no reason to complain.

He is not bad at all?!?!?!? 72 people wrote that he is the worse professor they ever took and he is not bad at all?!?!?! Who are you? The professor's wife?
I got an A in the class but I had to put in a hell of a lot of effort in order to get it. TOOO much reading for an intro class. He seems to think that students are only taking one class. Very opinionated and tries to influence his opinions upon his students. Nice guy.. pretty easy grader but tooo much wrk.
He is a professor who doesn't know how to teach. He assigns to many readings and he doesn't even motivate you to read them because while he says there will be discussions on the readings in class, all he does is stand in front of the class and lectures about what he thinks the author means. Any other opinion a student gives is rebuffed.

Ahh yes....You got an A and Nuno was "accomAdating." Who else sees the ridiculousness of this statement? You must be a hack who has skewed his ideology towards that of Nuno's and he rewarded you with a decent grade - not on merit but on subjectiveness. New School is pathetic and so is Nuno; he doesn't belong in academia...bottom line.
I can not tell you enough how horrible he is. One thing is for sure...he def. does not belong in academia. I am really not one to back professors, but I honestly felt like i left his class much more confused than ever before. He speaks, and it simply does not make sense. I really do not recommend taking him...PLease don't test this (cause i did)
I got an A in his class, but it was hard work. If you like reading literally 100's of pages a week, writing papers that he grades very unfairly, writing papers with other classmates that he puts you with based on your grade, and listening to him ramble about what he thinks on a particular subject and telling you that it is the truth, then take him.
Terrible professor. His lectures are very confusing as are his tests. The amount of reading required is overwhelming, especially for an intro course. He grades the group assignments harshly as well. The only positive is there's a chance he curves as I should have gotten a c-/c for the class but got a B for the final grade. Not worth the stress tho.
Worst teacher I have personally ever had. Gives off the appearance of being nice/cool but is really just awful. Assigned great readings, but the praise stops there. Constantly contradicts himself, his lectures are a rambling mess, and he is about as understanding as a starving badger. If they keep giving him more classes, I am changing my major.
Breathes sleeping gas!!!
he is a weak professor, no help whatsoever. Do not tak him under any circumstances.
For an intro Sociology class, this professor is way too tough. There's readings assigned for almost every single class (really). There are 10 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 take home final, 1 group writing and one 800-1300 word assignment. It's hectic and I would not take him again. Class environment is poor with his monotone voice, it makes it even worse. I got an A though.
he is monotone, and very boring. Talks fast, not enthusiastic and unintersting. A previous post said:"breathes sleeping gas" and this is definelty true(i suggest alert pills) The subject is BS to begin with, the more u confuse the professor the better grade u will get. read hundreds of pages and think "sociologically", and u can survive!
Even though the professor gives a lot of readings but in the end it helps in the later part of the course as it will provide vaulable information, everything he assigns will be useful towards the end, he is very helpful and will guide you throughout the semester with his lectures. I found this class to be very interesting and it is well organize.
Rather monotone voice but just take good notes, especially note any of his opinions, and do most of the readings. Tests take some studying but he give lots of extra credit so with moderate effort you can score an A or B.
one of the WORST teachers you could ever have in this school. HORRIBLE teaching methods and does not clarify ANYTHING but on the test when we give him an answer he tells US to clarify. disgusting. wouldn't of chose him if it wasn't for the bloc system.
AVOID HIM!!!!!! He is a hypocrit and contradicts himself all the time. He stutters when he talks and cant get his sentences out. Class is verry BORING!! DONT TAKE HIM THERE ARE OTHER BETTER TEACHERS!!!!
He may be all those things that people say about him, but what is most important is the grade you receive in the end. I received an A so I am happy with the class. He grades by a points system, so you have different oppourtunities to gain points, and he lets you look at notes that you write for a test.
The work load in this class is ridiculous. Three texts consisting of 25-30 page readings usually. He's very difficult to understand in class and probably the worst part about him is that for the group project (which is a chunk of your grade) he divides the class based on your grade in the class at a certain point, which is very unfair.
Easy A.just study and take notes in class, attendance is also mandatory.the class may be boring, but the grade will be good at the end.try and note his perspectives on every topic, because that's what he wants on the answer.
Tough grader, respected so many papers and Dr. Nuño is caring but through it all, I passed.
