I did not get a long with him at all when i first took one of his classes and had some problems with him at first but when i took a class with him again the following semester he really changed and he ended up being one of my favorite teachers and his class was my favorite However, i like a challenge and his classes are a bit too easy
I took Dr. Zuniga for Music Theory 1 and was honestly one of my favorite classes. He is very clear when explaining the material in class and the homework is relatively easy. One thing with him is DO NOT BE LATE! It's really easy to ask him for help on the material and is always in his office. Extremely nice, funny and really fun to be in his class.
Concert Band, super easy. All you have to do is show up (on time) and know your part. Only graded on attendance and concerts. But you will get called out for not knowing your part, if not by him by other students, so don't take the class if you don't care or just want an easy A.
Great teacher. Do good on the tests and you will pass! Also, do not forget to go to a concert and do the reports! I struggle to do this last minute. Also, he does use the WHOLE time during class. He does not waste time.
Music 12. Online book from which reading and extreme easy quizzes are graded. 4 test not final. 2 mandatory great concert required. Very cool in class music video played. At end of each class you take another nice and easy quizz so attendance is mandatory. There is no way you can fail this class or not gain A. You learn a lot and have lot of fun.
Professor Zuniga will make sure you leave his class knowing a little something about music. His passion and love for music rubs off on the students. I appreciate his concern on making sure you PASS his class! He would always let us know he is here to help US and that is extremely important to know! On top of that he's Hilarious!
funny and blunt, hates cell phones ( will call you out in the middle of his sentence, would be extreme and make you see him after class after multiple times) great teacher who is very knowledgable and excited to teach, you'll like the class and learn about new genres and like those too. gives quizzes every class so you better not leave.
Mr. Zuniga is an awesome teacher. He gives extra credit but not too much. You must show up to class because he gives quizzes right before class lets out. i just like to say if your looking for a easy class than pick him and make sure you pay attention to the lecture and do the online work and you will pass the test.
Mr. Zuniga is a great teacher. He made his class fun and easy to understand. I would definitely take another class from him.
Professor Zuniga is an exceptional teacher, well detailed class, he is funny and outgoing, I liked the pop quizzes at the end of class. It was a fun class, grades and projects are clear, he is very accessible. great music professor. I would definitely recommend this class with Dr. Luis Zuniga.
Clear, concise and funny at times. Give respect and you will receive it back. Lectures are thoughtful and interesting to make the information fun.
Dr. Zuniga's class is not only educational, but entertaining. The course material on its own is fascinating, but Dr. Zuniga adds to the experience by playing the music we're learning about that week during our lectures, and takes the time to get to know each student in order to create a better environment for learning.
Dr. Zuniga is a very passionte professor who loves music. You don't need to have any existing knowledge of music. Its simple, If you like music and are willing to show up for fun lectures, listen to all types of great music then take this class! You can easily pass. Bonus, you get to go to 2 concerts of your choice as part of your grade! Easy A!
Professor Zuniga pushes the student to actually do their work and to try and get ahead of the curve to better understand the material and be able to contribute to the conversation in class. He has made me a better musician in the short time I have had the honor playing and learning under his direction.
I took this class because i had to in order to get my AA and I'm so glad that I did. this class is so much fu, the teacher allows his student so be open and make jokes while still being professional. he doesn't like when people use there phones so don't. this class is not hard its actually fun, you have to literally try to fail. Great teacher!
Professor Z is as straight forward as it gets. This class is the model class I hope to have throughout the rest of my college career. He is amazing at telling you exactly what the class will be like and the work load it brings (which isn't a lot). It's a class full of friends that can talk about what your favorite music is and the history of it.
I definitely enjoyed the class, the prof makes the environment very comfortable to participate in class. It's very interesting to learn the method behind the beginnings of written music. I would more than recommend the class, and there isn't a lot of homework required.
The class was hard at first if you don't have any music background, but just make sure you always show up to the lectures because he makes music interesting and fun to learn about. He is the best &most inspirational instructor & has a strong passion for music.I truly enjoyed this Music class ---Plus he's super handsome and looks like Orlando Bloom
While attendance isn't mandatory it really makes a difference, especially if you're struggling with the material. When you attend class make sure you speak up and ask any questions you may have. The prof is very open about answering questions and going over material that you don't understand.
He is very passionate about music and about teaching his students about music. He's passionate about his students learning and growing. He's funny, real, and straight forward. If you don't understand the material and ask him to explain it, he will. I'm taking another one of his classes next semester.
Dr. Zuñiga is the best prof I've had at LMC and he'll probably remain so. He has an amazing personality and he knows his material and therefore communicates it very well. The only grades are quizzes (questions straight from the notes) and two "concert reports" (he gives a freebie concert). No excuse for not having an A. You'll enjoy the class.
He's so fine. But academically, the class was fun and all, I was just a little disappointed in how he doesn't grade strictly, and in turn, it seems he doesn't take teaching seriously. Very chill guy, and interesting course, but you can get an A without learning anything at all. Not challenging whatsoever. You do have to use the book online.
I took Dr. Zunigas Honors Music 10. He is a great professor who taught me a lot, not only about music but about History. He is a caring professor who makes time for his students regardless of how busy he is. Dr. Zuniga is inspirational, and passionate and it shows in his lectures. I recommend his class. He is one of the best professors at LMC.
Great professor. Fun to be in class. Easy to pass if you come and participate. Read the book if you have any issues understanding what is covered in lecture.
Dr. Zuniga makes very good use of time in class with lecture to prepare for the tests. The quizzes given every class also help for questions on the unit tests. He is very respectful and has a sense of humor, making class discussions more fun!
you have to try hard to fail the class. show up take a quiz once a week (answers given to you during lecture). Read textbook, half the answers that are on the test are gone over in class. DON'T USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS.
I learned so much from the lectures and course outlines which made the tests much easier for me. There are just 2 mandatory symphony concerts that you see as a class. I don't play an instrument or know how to read music but I still passed with an A. Study hard and utilize the test study guides and you will pass. Prof. Zuniga is awesome!
Prior experience with music theory NOT required! As a matter of fact, it might even make the class almost too easy! You need basic math skills because most of the theory is simple mathematics. You NEED to understand and/or memorize fundamental musical principles. You can easily get an 'A' if you show up and do what you are supposed to do.
Dr. Luis Zuniga is a fantastic professor. Every class that i went to was a lot of fun and he explained everything very well. I cant wait to take another one of his classes next semester
Dr. Zuniga is a great teacher and Ive learned so much in this class. His lectures were easy to follow and his passion for the material made me more engaged in what we were learning. Canvas quizzes easy (most answers in ebook), study guides for tests very helpful, symphony field trips were amazing, a lot of extra credit opportunities, great class.
Genuinely loves music. Encouraged me to explore the topic of my final project; his input and guidance was meaningful and genuine. The actual class: He really engages with students on a human level. His lectures are hilarious. Thoroughly learned music history from them. Tests went smoothly (gotta read the book though). Truly above and beyond.
Dr. Zuniga is honestly one of the best professors Ive had in college. He is great at teaching anything to do with music and makes the subject very understandable and offers a great deal of fun information.
Very funny guy. If you pay attention and review your papers youll do great
Dr Zuniga is great. I had no past experience in music theory and Zuniga made learning fun and easy.
If you're interested in music, you'll do great. As for me, my major isn't music so I thought the class was kind of boring. Dr. Zuniga does give a lot of quizzes but they will help you study for the tests. Although, his tests can be a bit confusing but he does give you extra points and it's all multiple choice. He's funny so that's a plus.
I loved going to class because it was always fun to be in class. He never just had a basic schedule that was boring. we learned but learned in our own ways and he was there to guide us.
Great Professor. Dr Zuniga is very passionate about music and makes you understand basic music theory. Would take another class with him
Dr. Zuniga is knowledgable and passionate about music. His teaching style and expectations are straight forward in a relaxed atmosphere. I took this class as a GE requirement and ended up learning about music genres I haven't heard of, even went to concerts on campus to listen to peers and guests play live!
Dr. Zuniga is one of the best teachers I've had at LMC. He's very precise about his expectations and what you need to do in order to pass with an A. Your grade in this class is based on the quizzes after each lecture & the 4 tests, READ THE BOOK. Also, don't bother taking this class if you can't stay off your phone, he'll call you out each time!
Dr. Zuniga is an outstanding professor. He is always willing to assist students. I wish more professors at LMC taught with as much passion for their subject as Dr. Zuniga. I am looking forward to taking more classes with Dr. Zuniga in the near future.
I really enjoyed taking Dr. Z's class! Dr. Z's class is very easy; if you come to class and you read the textbook. Dr. Z can be funny at times; very knowledgeable when it comes to any type of music. I would definitely take Dr. Z's class again!
He is really fun teacher but some things do piss him off like being on your phone. If you do everything he says and you got really good chance to get an A. Test aren't that hard if you study and he does weekly quizzes which aren't too bad just pay attention to his lectures and you will be good.
Dr. Zuniga is an exemplary professor in both his ability to teach and willingness to help students understand the material. He is also super funny so youll never be bored. Quizzes are given almost every class but they are easy if you pay attention to the lecture. By far my favorite class at LMC so far. You will not regret taking this course!
Dr. Zuniga is a great teacher! He made us go to live symphonies and it was a fun class even though I am not a music major.
Would totally take Professor Zuniga again. He gives extra credit opportunities and I ended with a 96%.
Read the book, stay off of your phone, show up, you will pass! His passion for music all but jumps out of his being during his breathtaking lectures. Dr. Zuniga is a one of a kind Professor, and I could only hope to find a professor like him who teaches my major. Easy grading criteria, HW is simply studying, he's helpful, respected, and a hottie!!
Dr. Zuniga is by far one of my favorite professors at LMC. Hes hilarious, which makes his class that more enjoyable. You can tell he's very passionate about music, the history of it, how it comes together, etc. I highly respect Dr. Zuniga.
Very polite, funny, and sarcastic. The class was very enjoyable and you get to go to a concert for an assignment. You DEFINITELY need the book, don't slack off on reading you will NOT pass. A really great teacher
Great tracher, veryy funny
I would highly recommend everyone take Professor Zuniga. Hes lectures are very interesting, and the book is not necessary at all. Professor Zunigas lectures include everything thats on the quizzes and exam. Super easy and fun!!
Just show up to class and pay attention to lectures. Far as doing homework assignments and studying they both help a lot to get you through the class. The for those who have a background in music theory. This class will probably be an easy A for you guys. Other than that Mr. Zuniga is a great professor.
I enjoyed this class very much, Dr. Zuniga made learning fun within his class. I greatly recommend others to take this corse if they would like to learn about music and actually understand an have fun! By the end of the semester you will have knowledge on things you didn't before and you'll be able to share your knowledge of music with others .
Professor Zuniga ended up being one of my favorite teachers of all time. He teaches in a very friendly and effective way, often going above and beyond to help students who are having trouble with some aspects of his classes. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr Zuniga is a great professor and does a great job of getting his students interested in music. He is a wonderful and funny professor!
Dr. Zuniga is a wonderful professor. I really enjoyed taking his Music - 15 class. He makes sure everyone understands the material before moving onto new material. He is funny, and tells funny stories. I plan on taking more of his classes.
I enjoyed taking his class! I know more about music than I ever thought I would! Really interesting class and it's really not hard, just do the homework and do good on the tests and your set!
If you have ZERO background in music, it is recommended (but not required) that you take Music 015 before taking this class. Tests are identical to stuff you would see on the homework and there is plenty of extra credit there. Show up for lecture, read the chapters, do the work, and the tests will be easy. Music 016 is an easy 'A'.
Professor Zuniga was very clear and made learning a frustrating topic easy to comprehend. He is strict when he needs to but does not forget live can me fun and music is a big part of life and happiness. He is an awesome guy to talk to and is super encouraging which imspires his students to take that extra step to get the job done.
Dr.Z is a real teacher that cares about what you're getting out of his class. You will be challenged, you will have to put in some work. I'm not a music major, but after taking his class, I do feel inspired to take more music classes.
I took this class for credit and although I have a history of playing an instrument it has been awhile so I had to relearn a few things as well as learn some new stuff. I didnt always understand something right away but Dr. Zuniga made sure to emphasize everyone was on the same page. He made class fun and was always helpful at his office hours.
Good professor. Definitely knows what he's talking about. Overall great class.
Dr Zs music 15 online class was very interesting. If you are looking to learn more about music and understand where music came from this is a great class to take. This class is not a breeze, however if you stay motivated and keep up with the work you will pass his class with an A. I look forward to taking more classes with Dr. Z.
I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Zuniga. He had a way of making me think about the history of music that I hadnt thought of. Hes easy to communicate. Come ready to do the work asked if you and youll have nothing to worry about! I hope to find time to take another class with him! Textbook was not mandatory to purchase. He gave links needed
I took Dr.Z's online music class over the summer and it was so organized and easy to follow. Ive taken a lot of online courses and this was by far the most well directed. he provided all study material(no book needed to be purchased) and had engaging discussions with very fair tests. 10/10 I recommend!
Dr. Zuniga's basic music theory class is not just your typical foray into the world of music. He provided real insight into how the world functions as a result of music through his inspirational discussion topics and was extremely fair in giving plenty of opportunities on assessments. If you already know some music theory, this class is super easy.
Dr. Zuniga is one of those teachers which you either hate or love. There is no in-between. He has a tendency to be very sarcastic and it often sounds rude but it's mostly just a joke. There are times where he locked the door five minutes after class started and nobody was allowed in. Attendance is crucial for his class. Good luck!
Great teacher, would suggest getting the textbook online since we never brought it to class. Has great lectures, and as long as you review your notes, and study the study guide he gives you, then you'll do great on the tests! Didn't like his concert reports, they were easy but unnecessary, otherwise, great teacher!
Dr. Zuniga is a great professor who makes his lectures very interesting. Respect him and his class and he will give you respect back. All in all he is a great professor and I will recommend him to anyone.
Dr Zuniga really cares about the success of students in his class. Easy to contact outside of class and makes his classes really hard to fail. Well respected great teacher
Dr. Zuniga is very passionate about what he teaches. He can be a sarcastic, and I stepped off the wrong foot with him. If you show him respect and follow his rules, you will have an easy time in the class. Be prepared to read. He offers study guides a week prior to his exams. He also offers Extra Credit.
He teaches lectures with so much passion and enthusiasm, definitely cares about his students, but no phones and can call you out on it.
Dr. Zuniga is a great professor that teaches the basics of music theory very well. he starts out slow for the students that have never done music before and he ramps up to your scales major and minor. he helped me as a musician and i hope that he can help you. 10/10 take this professor.
Lectures are pretty long, but go very in depth on Unit material. Professor will often elaborate on specific points in lectures and include them in test (this info can't be found in the book). Even though lectures aren't my favorite, the professor's passion really shows in his presentation of the material. One of my favorite classes I've taken!
I've had classes before with him, but they were all performance classes so this was new. He is always a laid back type of guy and leaves it to you to know what you're doing. Will keep it real with you, but is a good class and was a great start to college.
Definitely one of my favorite professors/classes. I was recommended by Jared, former counselor. Dr. Zunigas passion in his job only made it fun to learn. He even said on the first day how his class is not difficult. Now hell challenge you as a student but as long as you do your part, you good.
An overall great professor. From the start I was quite hesitant of him due to his personality, but it truly grows on you. He is very funny and provides great lectures that revolve around reading expected of you as homework the nights before. Quizzes are normal, follow the syllabus and read, you'll pass w/ A+, If you fail, it will be YOUR fault...
Be prepared to read a LOT. I'd recommend renting the ebook and not the physical. This class is easy to pass because you get free points and extra credit opportunities, but there is a lot of information you have to memorize for the tests. Dr. Zuniga's sarcasm is sometimes off-putting, but he's a good professor and knows what he's talking about.
Dr. Zuniga is a great professor. He is clearly passionate about music and truly enjoys sharing his knowledge. The textbook is a definite need for the class. I did not buy it but I used one of the 3 textbooks he put in the library. Study the study guides, use the textbook for them, not the internet.
Professor Zuniga is a great professor once you get to know him and his personality. He's very passionate about what he teaches. Follow his lectures and read the textbook, guaranteed A. Test questions are always in his powerpoints/lectures and in the textbook.
Professor Zuniga is a great Professor who teaches a easy class, he is understanding when situations arise. He does have a harsh sense of humor. Good glass for GE
Great prof, amazing class. Definitely recommend taking this class! Easy A if you show up and do all the reading, he gives study guides and it's exactly what will be on the test. Great teacher, awesome class!
Zuniga is an amazing teacher and theres never a dull moment in the class. He does his absolute to teach the class as thoroughly as possible.
I took his Honors Music 12 class. Easy A as long as you read the textbook and ace the easy quizzes and tests. The tests are just a compilation of the quizzes, so it's very easy to study for. He's one of the most funny and exciting professors I ever had!
Dr. Zuniga's Music 12 class is so fun and easy! As long as you do the readings and quizzes you will be pass. The tests are super easy. You're provided with all of the necessary resources to succeed in this class. Dr. Zuniga loves what he's doing and it shows through his teaching.
Luis was such a good professor, although he can be a bit intimidating to talk to and participation matters. I ended up getting a B, because I missed one test and he wouldn't let me make it up, so make sure you're there for every test. Very little take home assignments, most were done together in class. Pretty easy, just pay attention.
I took him over the summer and it was the funnest and easiest class I had. The quizzes you could retake as much as you want, its just a lot of questions. He is very funny and makes the class very entertaining. Highly recommend.
This was my favorite class, he is an amazing teacher with a great class! This class was long since I took it at night. He usually has a short quiz (about 5 questions) at the end of each lecture, but the quiz is based off of the material you just learned. He offers extra credit. Do the reading, extra credit and you'll pass! Great professor!
Dr. Zuniga has changed my life. I first met him through orchestra, MUSIC-052 or MUSIC-020, and he has helped me better myself as a musician and has really helped me to grow my sense of musicality. I am a music major, so I took MUSIC-015 and MUSIC-016 with him. He gives amazing lectures and is always happy to help you if you need it.
Really Great teacher honestly, he made the class so enjoyable and interesting.
This was a really enjoyable class. The professor clearly has a passion for his craft and is able to communicate technical ideas in a clear way. His projects are graded more by effort than anything, and quizzes can be taken multiple times. Definitely a beginners course, but well taught.
Dr. Zungia is a great professor. He believed all his students can succeed! His course was really easy, a few online quizzes and multiple music compositions. I'm forever thankful for him.
Dr. Zuniga is one of the nicest teachers I've ever had. His beginning music class is easy and pretty fun. I took his honor's course thinking that it may be difficult, but it was actually really fun! One of the highlights of the class was our trip to see the San Francisco Symphony. Would take his class again if I could.
Profesor Zúniga is not only one of the best teachers Ive had, but you can tell that hes very very passionate regarding the course.
If you need a Himanities class take Hip hop. It was a great class I learned a lot about the hip hop culture. Just show up to class do the work and you will get an A. He is a cool teacher but the only thing that irritates him is being on your phone during class so dont pull out your phone he will dismiss the class.
Dr.Z is amazing. I have no music background and took Honors Music 15. He wants you to succeed. If you don't understand something he will clarify. There's a few online quizzes you can take as many times as you need, a concert report, and 4 compositions. Attendance is necessary and don't take out your phone during class. Would take his classes again!
Zuniga was an amazing professor. If youre signing up for HUMAN50 youll absolutely love this course! Hope you have as much fun taking it as I did, he probably makes it the easiest course to pass.
Dr. Z was a fantastic teacher. He was funny, he gave detailed and concise lectures, and his class wasn't homework or test-heavy (though online quizzes were a thing, and he always warned us before posting them). I would definitely take a class with him again.
Mr . Zuniga is saliently passionate towards music, and it is quite inspirational; it was an exciting class to be in. My only wish was that tests and music composition scoring was graded with more feedback rather than mere participation points. Granted, it was basic music but a lot more couldve been learned; material in quizzes were barely taught.
Very interesting and fun class!!
Yes I am a student that took humanity 50, and this is definitely one great professional and down to earth professors. Hes strict About NO phone during class so please take note of that now. This class has giving me a very good understanding where music comes from and how Its apart of who we are today and the key role our lives today.
Professor Zuniga is very passionate about music and music culture. We listened to many iconic music pieces, and some of those became my favorite. About the class, there are quizzes, which are easy if you pay attention. And the assignments are long essays which are not bad if you reference the book. Do your work and it will be a breeze
Dr. Zuniga loves his job. He makes this class fun, but you still learn a lot. He will stop in the middle of class to play a video or a song that has come up, which is great. There are random, simple quizzes, so go to every class. Nothing hard here, he wants you to succeed. Don't take out your phone! He will call you out.
Professor Z's lectures were always entertaining. We watched documentaries, music videos, and listened to music. Everything from his slides are from the book so get the book. There was minimal homework and at the end of class there would be a quiz from the lecture. Super easy no trick questions. He also gives exam study guide beforehand to prepare.
Learning about Hip-Hop from him was fun. He really goes out of his way to make sure you pass. This is one of the easiest A's I have ever obtained in my academic career. It is also one of the dopest classes as well! It's Hip-Hop!
Very good Professor, Participation will forsure help your grade. Good lesson plans, keeps you intrigued.
This class was completely online. Very straight forward. Read a chapter of the textbook then quiz at the end of the week. He can be a picky grader, just fulfill the page requirements and you'll be good. Gives extra credit, and his test are not hard. Completely manageable.
Dr. Zuniga is a great professor especially during this pandemic he didnt make things too hard and he never gave us more than we can beat. He knew we had other classes to do work in.
Excellent professor would not be disappointed in taking his class. Easy A as long as you do all the assignments on time and grading is straightforward. A few extra credit opportunities as well.
He's nice, the class is easy and interesting and he grades easy. Just turn in your work on time or else you'll be docked a good amount of points on the assignment, no exceptions.
He is a wonderful professor, very clear with instructions and constructive/positive feedback, gives opportunities for extra credit, replies quickly to emails and is accessible to meet . The workload is not a lot, just about right. We watched really fun documentaries and wrote papers about it. He has a very cool personality as well. Highly recommend
Dr. Zuniga was one of my favorite teachers. He is very passionate about music and you can tell. It was an interesting class and it was a great class to take online.
The class was independent online. Theres a quiz every week on a chapter. 4 or 5 pages of Cornell notes every other week. Its not difficult but its a lot of work especially when you have other classes. The assignments are pretty straight forward and the content is entertaining if youre a hip hop/rap fan.
There was a lot of little tests and stuff but if spread out through multiple days is able to be done fine. The Professor is hella chill and the class is easy to pass if you just do the online work.
Great class and a great professor! I definitely recommend taking this class its an easy A but its also very interesting. The book was required but you can check it out from the library. There wasnt much homework. We normally had an assigned reading and quiz but as long as you read you should be good.
Dr. Zuniga was one of my favorite professors so far at lmc. Hes super helpful and always engages with everyone. Ive learned so much from him and would love to take another music class with him.
This is a really fun and easy class if you want to learn about hip hop! I enjoyed my time in Professor Zunigas class, and I highly recommend this class to anyone who is an avid fan of hip hop! You will not be disappointed :)
First time taking a humanities class and Mr. Zuniga made it fun. Hip hop culture was interesting and the work he provided was very informative.
Mr. Zuniga Is a great man, and his class was very straight forward. I've learned a lot about hip hop from this class then what I've tried to grasp from my parent. It's a class where you have no zooms. Along with watching interesting videos. Just make sure to read the chapter before taking a quiz
Such a great teacher, you will not regret taking this class. If you're taking this class just for credit or for the love of music either way you'll enjoy it. It's an easy A, just show up and do your work!
Professor Zuniga is the absolute best, when I tell you I WANTED to go to class, I wanted to! he makes it so enjoyable, so engaging, and so exciting. I was worried this class would be a lot since I am dualy enrolled at UCSD,BUT it was the best decision because I had a class I really enjoyed going to, doing fun assignments. if you can take him DO IT!
Dr Z was an incredible teacher and I was very glad that I got to be in his class. I learned a lot and had fun doing so, for the most part this class was fairly easy only there was a lot of writing for certain assignments. The writing wasnt really hard at all it just takes you a long time And hes a relatively fair grader.
Overall his class was easy.
Zuniga has been my easiest class in college so far. He only gave one or two easy assignments out per week. Either c-notes or watching a movie and taking a quiz. For reading, it was about 25 pages a week on average but you will need to write a lot. Overall, super easy pass.
I took two of his online classes last semester and he was by far the easiest and best teacher Ive had in a long time. He was very understanding and very clear on what assignments to do and how to do them. I never felt overwhelmed and I highly recommend him
Easy A, try to get him.
Professor kept us in track with announcements and follow up emails. Definitely wish more professors were as communicative as he was.
Mr Zuniga is a great professor. I love the documentaries he posted. I also loved the fact he posted the Straight Outta Compton movie for the final on Canvas. He responds back to emails. The only problem was he is not really specific on how to do the Cornell notes assignment. I asked a couple questions about it. Other than that, I enjoyed his class.
Prof. Zuniga made the American hip-hop culture class very simple for a 4-week course during the summer. However, the readings were strictly from the textbook so the book is needed, and the midterm and final were Cornell notes based on different documentaries that showed the evolution of hip-hop music and culture in the U.S.
Lots of small quizzes every week. They are time consuming but not hard at all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Professor Luis Zuniga is honestly a Great Professor, I would recommend him to anybody
10/10 would take Professor Zuniga again. Great instructor and cares about his students. Responds to emails for any feedback or answers you need. Easy assignments that require you to follow simple requirements for an A. Pay attention and follow his requirements and you will receive an easy A
Dr. Luis Zuniga is a wonderful, caring professor. He does assign 2-4 quizzes every week but theyre very easy, so dont worry! Read, of course, so youll get the ideas before writing a report and the grading criteria is clear. He gives feedbacks, too, which is helpful and motivating! Just do the work and youll get through this course with an A.
Professor Zuniga's passion for music and jokes makes the class enjoyable. He explains the course clearly and only asks that you read before coming to class to participate in discussions. The reading is enjoyable and learning about music makes it an easy class. Taking his class you also get to see great music documentaries. Highly recommend.
I absolutely loved the material in this class! It allows you to dig deeper into music and its history all while having fun with the amazing documentaries and movies you get to watch. The only con is that there is no late work and if you miss a test you get a 0. But just be careful with due dates and you will have so much fun!
Professor Luis Zuniga is a Great Professor, I would recommend this professor.
Really good feedback
This professor was super knowledgeable on the topic of Hip Hop! I enjoyed watching and reading all of the provided and mandatory materials, but there was a lot of reading required. Class was online, no lectures recorded, only quizzes, reading, papers, and a couple concert reports. Overall, would take again, but be prepared to work for it!Stay ahead
Dr. Z was a great professor to have, Instructions for assignment are very clear and are easy to follow.
Overall easy class but there is alot of homework. About 10-15 quiz assignments a week and alot of reading. However, the quizzes are through a website that you can keep answering questions till you get your desired grade. So as long as you try till you get 100% on them you will get an A in the class. Also only 2 concert reports which are very easy.
First day of class professor said this would be the easiest class wed take at LMC and he was right! The semester consist of 3 cycled assignments (reading+quiz, Cornell notes and concert reports). Theres a lot of reading, however you can retake the quizzes until you get 100%. In-person lecture is so cool+fun + the documentaries are awesome!
His class is not difficult nor is it easy. Read the instructions, study and or review the material, do the work and or test, and get an "A". He drops lowest grade for assignment and your grade goes up, up, and away into space. He posts textbook copy for his online class. I did not even need to buy a textbook.
Professor Zuniga is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Despite the fact that I am not a music major and only took his class for credit, he offered me a newfound passion for music. The coursework in his class is very easy and as long as you follow his rubric and requirements, you will get 100% on every assignment.
I took this class as a filler but the information i learned I will use in discussions. He grades straight forward, as long as you participate and put effort in your notes you will have no problem passing. This is also my first time rating a teacher so I fully recommend his class.
i took his class because of the great reviews but personally, he wasn't the best. he was very picky on grading cornell notes his template was very hard to type into, he wouldn't accept it if it wasn't his template. he's not overall bad but isn't the best either. average. though, the work is pretty easy. he's an easy A! take him!
Very passionate and enthusiastic during lectures and loves to hear students point of view. Straightforward assignments and not that many exams.
He is good
Dr Z explains very clear what you should do to pass his courses. He also gives a lot of opportunities towards the end of the semester for his students to pass.
Where else can you hear great music in class while learning about the evolution of American musical styles? Almost every class started with some cool jams which led into that day's lesson. Dr. Zuniga is a terrific instructor whose passion for music made class fun and interesting.
Dr. Zuniga is an excellent professor who cares for his students. He provides all the energy you need for class, so it wasn't even a problem it was on a Monday. I found myself wishing it was more than once a week. I enjoyed it so much that I've opted to take another class of his for the summer.
Lovely !
Professor Zuniga is honestly been one of my favorite professors of all time. The class is really the easiest to pass and you always learn something new. He is very funny and can always incorporate the history of music with and interesting lecture.
Great professor, does mostly Cornell notes if you do all of them correctly you will most likely pass with an A. This class was so fun and got to go to my first Christmas concert.
Dr. Zuniga was an amazing professor. His lectures were never dull, and the activities done outside class were also super entertaining. This class is super easy to pass as long as you turn work in on time-- the work isn't difficult and neither are the tests. 100/10 I Enjoyed his class and loved his teaching style as well.
I enjoyed this class. I took it online and it was not hard. All you have to do is do your work on time and complete. You should have no problem passing with at least an A. Professor responded to my messages in a timely manner and gave clear instructions for assignments. Overall great class.
Took Professor's Z class this past semester and had a blast. Class is not hard if you do you part by paying attention and completing the work on time. I took this class on line but would have loved to do it in person. Learned a lot about music and was able to meet up for some pinball in Alameda. Overall, had a great time in his class.
He's a great professor, he's an awesome composer. He's very funny and energetic. And I was lucky enough to see a few of his concerts.
Great professor.
Zuniga is a narcissist, but he's a very good Music Theory teacher. Stay on his good side, do the homework, and you'll do great.
Homework is very easy. Have time to complete it and you'll do great. Very easy class. Great professor. Not rude at all. Very understanding and you'll learn a lot about music in his class.
His class is not difficult as long as you do the work and test. He really knows about music and you'll learn a lot from him.
Sweetest teacher ever literally my favorite!!
Never responds to emails. No late work. Easy class. Few assignments but all somewhat hefty. He's alright. I guess I would take him again if I had to. Mid
I truly admire Dr. Zuniga for being an exceptional instructor. His sense of humor and dedication to teaching opera has made a significant impact on me. Previously, I found this art form uninteresting, but under his guidance, I have developed a newfound appreciation and love for it.
Had to take this class to graduate, easy class, but a lot of watching long documentaries/movies and taking 4 pages of cornell notes. It is more busy work than anything. You also have to pay to access his online textbook and homework... Never posted his modules on time; it was always posted late on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
You can easily get an A from his class, however he seems to be not okey with some races. He thinks he is cool but he is not. Yet he has great information about music if you are into music.
Worst professor ever. Do not take him. He has a huge ego and if you ask a simple question, he throws a tantrum. He's a nobody but acts like he's Beyonce.
I don't know what the good ratings are talking about. This man was the devil spawn walking on earth. The good comments are the very few students he was nice to. Rudest professor I have ever met. Do not take his class if you care about your mental health. He constantly yells at students for doing the most normal and simple of things.
He was a chill teacher. I only had him once a week for an hour but everything was open book. And the quizzes/HW could be checked multiple times without any points deducted. Just make sure you get your work on time since he doesn't have a late work policy. Exams easy since all what was needed was proof of going his concert with a short paragraph
Professor Z knows his stuff, but can be a bit intense. If you stay engaged and use resources like unstuck study, you'll learn a lot and likely get a solid grade.
