Very easy if you spend time in class. Foreign so it's hard to understand what he says some of the time. Coughs EVERY 2 seconds. Doesn't take attendence.
some of his test are hard, but he does offer a help session before tests. he doesn't take attendance, but he is hard to understand!!

The poor guy's got a bad, monotone accent and coughs every other word, making him impossibly boring. He doesn't take attendance and sticks to the schedule, so you can show up just on test days if you want! Ask anyone--take Freeman if you can!
Very nice guy. Difficult to understand. He gives helps sessions and tests are all multiple chioce.
Good teacher just hard to understand.
He is difficult to understand, but it's not so hard after a while. Other than that he's more of a typical college prof. He's completely unbiased and he knows his stuff. Not the best there is, but definately not the worst.
Dr Lebioda is a little hard to understand but the class is so easy that it doesn't matter. His tests are vey very easy if you somewhat know what you're doing-they're multiple choice. He is willing to answer questions and offers study sessions!
I did not like him. others have, some may. The labs were easy, but you get those with any chem class. He didnt explain things very well and was hard to understand.
Hard to understand but he's nice and sympathetic. He doesn't take attendance so that helps alot
very easy class if you study before the tests, I only went to about 5 lectures and made an A. Offers help sessions before the exams, and all exams are multiple choice. Nice guy, cough, cough.
Dr. Lebioda is a very nice teacher but he is hard to understand. He likes when students stop by his office. So, if you have any questions stop by his office and he will be glad to help you.

Dr. Lebioda lectures from a powerpoint and tries to do extra problems on the board. He is helpful and will answer questions outside of class. Some had difficulty understanding him, but you get used to his accent. Recommended.
Teaches from powerpoint. CAPA is homework, which doesn't do a good job preparing you for the test and he doesn't do a good job preparing you for CAPA. Teach yourself it's a lot easir.
he is from poland and doesnt speek very clearly. and he is hard to listen to bc he makes this coughing sound every 5 sec. i didnt go to a lot of the classes bc i could teach myself better than he could teach me. but test arnt hard. got good grades, but i sugest u get a toutor and study on ur own.
I liked Dr. Lebioda. He teaches from power point and if you pay attention you will understand the class. He is helpful if you need extra assistance. CAPA is kind of hard, since some problems aren't covered in class, but you can get help for it. His accent is bad, but you get use to it. A good class
THIS IS A BIRD COURSE. YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM IN THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU ARE JUST STUPID. TAKE THIS CLASS. THE LABS ARE ALSO EASY.
dr. lebioda does have an accent, but it's really not difficult to figure out what he's saying. his tests are easy (all multiple choice!) and the stuff he teaches isn't too tough. class is sort of boring, but come on, it's chemistry. he's kind of funny so it's okay.
He teaches from powerpoint so if you don't go to class, you can still get good notes. He is very easy because you don't have to memorize things most other chemistry teachers do. Easy A
He teaches from power point so you dont even have to go to class!!!
This guy SUCK!!! He cant talk and there is a language barrier. He needs to retire and get it over with. If you have him ur best bet is to LIVE in Cappa Lab, they know what they are doing.
I highly enjoyed his class and I recommend it to anyone who needs to take a chemistry class.
I enjoyed his class. He goes step by step through lectures and practice exams are much like the actual exam. Responds to emais quickly and is a great guy! Accent may make you think twice but it's an easy course and anyone who takes the time and studies will get at least a B.
He is from Poland so it is a little hard to understand what he is saying. However if you can pay attention you will do great. His hardest test is usually the second one but the first and third ones are easy going. He doesn't pull any tricks with the test. Pay attention and you will pass!
Dr. Lebioda is a very nice teacher. He has an accent, can understand him. He also teaches directly from the lecture book, so even if you couldn't understand what he was saying, you can read and follow along. He offers study sessions in which he goes through every problem on the practice exam.
No comment the class is just too hard and his test is ridiculous
If you have a decent to good chem. background, this class is a joke. The chemistry I took in 11th grade was twice as hard as this. He gives you a practice test, and it is exactly like the real test. I studied for about an hour the night before the test and that was it. Easy A.

He is a great teacher after you get used to the accent, the class is really not that hard, I hardly went to lectures, went to the study sessions he offers, studied for maybe an hour and aced the tests. He is also a very helpful teacher and offers many helpful opportunities.
the test is ridiculous and hard avoid at all cost.
He's a real nice guy but don't take his class. He don't teach all he do is shake and cough all class. If you want to learn anything you better read the book. I just suggest that you try to get Freeman at all cost!
The only thing that you need to do for this class is do your CAPA and come to class, do this and the test are easy. The downfall is that he likes to cough...A LOT. we were half way through class and i had counted 200 coughs, and no it's not because he's sick... it's like that the whole semester.
This clas is not that bad. Just do your capa and study for a few hours before the exams and you'll do great. I hardly went to class and when I did I slept and still came out with a B. Take this class.
Dr. Lebioda is a great professor and very intelligent. His accent is confusing at first and the coughing is annoying but you will get used to it. Anyone who gets a C or below in this class is an utter and complete moron. His tests are the EXACT same as the practice test. Take him, you wont regret it
Be prepared to teach yourself. He is a very nice guy but all he does is go over the slides in class which you already have in a slide book you purchase. When you ask him a question sometimes he answers with the wrong answer or an answer to a different question. Hes kinda boring so beware.
Tests are really hard even if you study. The man just isn't a good teacher at all. Don't go to his study sessions they don't help, study in a group. cough, cough.
Easy class if you know anything about chemistry, but he is kind of hard to understand. Doesn't take attendance either.
Not a hard class if you remember anything from high school chemistry, hard to understand but offers a help session covering a sample exam.
I could never understand him whether he was standing next to mo or at the board, and his tests were major hard.
Avoid at all cost... test are major hard... labs are easy prefer u get another professor... tests are opposite from the notes he gave in class
Dr. Lebioda is a really nice guy and he is an good teacher. You'll get used to his cough and accent soon enough. He is helpful if you go to his office. The test aren't very hard as long as you can know the capa. This class is pretty much I re-run of highschool chemistry.
A very boring class, and he has a very weird cough. but he's easy and I like him. he looks like santa.
Extremely boring class; barely anyone goes. I would recommend Freeman first, but if you can't get into his class, Lebioda isn't the worst choice. He has an accent and some kinda weird cough (probably because he's old), but you'll get over that soon enough.
He is a nice person, but not a good teacher. He drones on about stuff that really isn't important to the tests. I'm sure that if you go talk to him, he'll be helpful, but if you have never had chemistry before, the lectures are very confusing. Try to get a different teacher if you can.
If you took chem in high school and did well, you will do fine in this class even if you don't go to lectures. Lebodia is extremely boring - those that actually go to class, fall asleep. OWL (online program) will teach you everything you need to know. Tests are always 25 multiple choice questions.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! you can't understand anything he says between his coughing and bad english. by far the most boring class EVER! very few people actually went to the lectures because they really don't help. just save yourself the trouble and take someone else.
don't take his class!! if you signed up for it switch to freeman..seriously..lebioda is from poland and you can't understand a word he says. he coughs over 400 times each class period..we counted. good luck if you end up getting stuck with him.
The man teaches from the very beginning of class till the very end every class period. He doesn't take attendance which is a plus. Unfortunately it is very difficult to understand him because he has a huge accent and coughs A LOT. As long as you study you should pass with at least a B..
this class wasnt that bad. i failed my first test becasue i didn't know what it would be like but still made an A in the class. Dont bother going to the lectures just study directly out of the book and should make at least a B
I disagree, I went to every lecture, read the book, studied by myself, studied with my lab partner, and made a C in the class. I have never done so poorly in a class in my life.
incredibly hard class, difficult to understand due to his accent and excessive coughing. lab was awful because the instructor was an indian and didnt speak english or explain anything well. very nice professor and allowed me to take exam on a different date. very hard class, avoid this professor and champak kurmi for the lab.
If you have any chem background, this is the easiest class ever. He gives a 15 question practice test, also does this for the final, and the real tests are just like the practice tests but with different numbers. Lebioda is the man.
I thought I liked chemistry, but I didn't know I would have to teach myself. He's awesome at research, but sucks at teaching. Take anyone but him, otherwise going to class is pointless and you'll probably fail or have a hard time passing.
The cough is annoying and it's very hard to stay awake during the lectures but do the homework and you will do fine in the class.
Can't understand him. Unbelievabley annoying cough. Loses his train of thought. Stutters from time to time. Lectures can put you to sleep. Exams were tough but not way too difficult. Not a very good teacher though.
Very Hard. Hard to understand. Don't take hime unless u have to. DO Not Take Him.
He is hard to understand but if you do the OWLS and look at the practice tests you will do fine. You will need to put in a little extra effot other than goinig to class. But the tests are really easy.
Dude cant take for anything. Didnt go to class and made a C. As long as you keep up with labs and do OWL, you will do fine. Offers practice tests online that really help. If you can avoid.
At first it was hard to understand him, but after the first couple weeks you learn. Attendance isnt required and doesnt really matter if you go or not. OWL is required but it forces you to learn the material. Gives practice tests that are VERY similar to tests. Tests multiple choice. Not the best but it could be worse.
Nice guy tests arent too hard the worst part is OWLS!!! spend 2 hours just for one checkmark or misspell a word n get the whole thing wrong overall, not a bad teacher tho but he does have a strong accent and coughs alot but u dont notice it after a week or 2
He's a bit hard to understand and not interesting. If you do the OWL and do well in the lab you're set. Sometimes the OWL's can take some time so just concentrate and learn the stuff because it will be on the test
Where to begin. Yeah, he has a cough, but people normally just tune it out after a while...however it does make it hard to hear what he says. Kinda monotone. For *SURE* go to the SI sessions! Do your OWL, show up to lab, go to SI's and you'll have no problem. Tests aren't bad, just go to the SI's to make sure that you're prepared for them!
He is easy but he is hard to understand and doesn't teach well.
He is easy but he is hard to understand and doesn't teach well.
This class is not impossible. The tests are 20-25 multiple choice questions. If you want to make a good grade, dont even worry about going to class, just make the SI sessions the day prior to the exam. On blackboard are practice tests that help a ton & sometimes exact ?s are on actual tests
Worst teacher in the world. Aviod him at all costs.
This guy should be doing lab work somewhere, not teaching. He is a really smart guy, and nice too, But he can barely communicate. I counted him coughing 394 times in one class. But the class is really easy. I went 3 times besides test day and made a B+. The only difficult thing was the OWLs.
Very intelligent and Thought provoking! Brilliant Man.
hes a sweet guy who isnt by any means out to get you and you can tell hes absolutely brilliant but a terrible teacher. and its really hard to understand him because hes from poland...so if youre like me and would actually like a professor that teaches you the material, steer clear.
The teacher is hard to understand but he is nice and the class is extremely easy as long as you do all your work. Make sure to attend SI regularly bc they help alot.
He's obviously a genius, but teaching isn't exactly a strong point of his. I'm sure he's nice, but I never went to his office hours or to lecture. I found that reading the book and doing the homework on my own along with going to SI sessions and doing the practice tests worked just fine.
he is very hard to understand. he's very smart and knows what he teaches but just has a hard time teaching it with his accent. he's so nice and does a curve and i made an A in the class, but now i have a tutor in chem 112 because i didnt learn anything in chem 111. keep that in mind if you have to continue on in chemistry after 111
He's very hard to understand. The only reason why I did well in this class was because I took two years of chemisty in high school. If you're somewhat familiar with basic chemistry, don't waster your money on the textbook. Homework was online and very time consuming.
I thought Dr. Lebioda was a great instructor. I didn't have any problems understanding him. Attendance isn't mandatory but I went to class and never had to open the text book. He explains everything really well. OWL was the basis for homework and was really time consuming, but it helped me understand the material.
Strong accent but you get over it quickly. Go to class and you should do fine, especially if you have had high school chemistry. No reading from the text book
Cannot understand a word he says!! Coughs every 5 seconds so you can never actually understand him. Tests are hard and you have to study your butt off if you want to even pass!
Gives you every opportunity to succeed. You're allowed to keep the exams, and there are copies of other old exams on Blackboard. If you listen well enough it's easy to tell what he's saying. Do be sure to write the examples he puts on the board, but don't shorthand them or you won't know where the numbers came from. Take advantage of SI.
You can barely understand a word he says. He is Polish and has a very thick accent. He cannot explain things in an easy way to understand!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO
He is very difficult to understand due to his thick polish accent. Though he is a nice guy, I dont really think teaching is his forte. Get ready to study your butt off to even hope for a passing grade. SI is your best friend in the class FIND IT RIGHT AWAY. Don't take him unless you have to, Berg is a better choice.
Had this class and failed it, Dont take it if you arent willing to study and try to learn all the information.
He is a very sweet man but not a good teacher. His class can get boring quickly. His test are not that hard.
Dr.Lebioda is a good teacher, people review him poorly and say they cannot understand him. I totally disagree!I went to class, payed attention, studied, and have an A in the course. The people who do not do well in this class are the ones who leave early every class and then when they do poorly because of their lack of effort, they blame the teacher.
I didn't go to class because he can be very boring. His accent isn't that bad but if you have trouble paying attention and don't have any previous knowledge of Chemistry don't take him. If you can teach yourself you will be fine. Make sure you do the OWLS and go to lab. He has a big curve on the final grade so its not hard to get an A.
He can be hard to understand and is dreadfully boring. He seems like a nice guy though. Go to SI sessions and you should do just fine.
lebioda is a nice guy but u can not understand a word he says. You dont have to go class just go to the SI sessions and do your owl and you be fine. He gives practice exams and his real exams are very very similar.
Study on your own or review chapter before his class. He is not a difficult teacher but he lacks enthusiasm. Attend SI sessions, but most of all do OWL...The information obtained here as well as the practice test is what you need to pass the class. How much you understand the subject will depend on if you pass with an A or a lower grade. Good Luck!
He was a cute old guy, but I did not learn from him. I am still unclear. I have had two terrible test grades so far, and there are only two more left. I think his lectures are useless unless you already know how to do most chemistry problems. I would take this if you want to teach yourself. Attending class is not required except for text days.
He [is from Poland and has an odd accent. You can understand what he says but you have to really pay attention and its easy not to. Exams were moderately hard.
He is a really sweet guy. He has an accent that makes you really have to pay attention but if you do you can understand him. His class isnt mandatory though so i rarely went and when i did i rarely paid attention. Doing the OWLs is how i learned most of the information but i did pretty well on the tests so i guess that was enough.
Really nice, has good intentions but his lectures are killer. Attendance isn't mandatory though. The OWLS will teach you and than just read over the chapters before the test. He lets you keep the tests so for the final just redo the test problems bc they are word for word from there.
i somehow got a B, i knew nothing about Chem coming into the class, he was a decent teacher once you get understand his style.
If you come into the class with a background in chemistry you will be fine, otherwise no because you can't understand him. He has iClicker quizzes everyday so you have to go.
Understandable if you pay attention. He teaches almost straight from the lecture notebook so he is easy to follow. Attending SI sessions really helps to understand the more complex problems if you don't understand them when he does them. DO THE SAMPLE EXAM. Some questions come from it and others are very similar.
Very easy teacher especially if you've ever had any chemistry before. Has iClicker quizzes every day and teaches straight from the lecture notebook.m If you've got a decent background in chemistry i recommend taking him.
If you have any background knowledge of chemistry, you should be fine. I never opened my book and am expecting a B+ for the class. He is fairly understanding, but you have to go to class for IClicker quizzes.
He is hard to understand in lecture. You will have to do some good studying outside the class to fully understand the material
Very easy if you have a good background. Quick grader. Daily quizzes that are very easy. I highly recommend.
He's a very monotone speaker. Class should be a cakewalk if you did well in high school chem. If you actually do your OWLs, you don't even really need the book or lecture notes since it's all covered in the homework. His exams are generally the same as the practice exams except with different numbers. Take him if it's the only Chem class you need.
I thought he was a good professor, I would take him again. He gives practice tests before every exam & assigns OWLs that can help your grade a lot. He also asks a couple of questions each lecture that count as quizzes but they're super easy. I would def recommend him.
Terrible teacher and very hard to understand! Would not recommend taking!
Very thick Polish accent, so he is hard to understand. Also has a speech impediment where he pauses between almost every word. Just reads off the slides (which can be found in the lecture notebook). If it weren't for the iClicker quizzes, nobody would go to class.
Worst chem teacher yet, extremely thick polish accent, horrible handwriting, extremely monotoned, boring, i would never go if it werent for the iclickers.
Lebioda is a very smart man. However, his lectures can be a bit boring. People complain about his accent/not being able to understand him, but I never had any problems with that. If you put in effort, you should be able to do well. It helps a bit if you have had at least some high school chemistry (not necessarily AP).
It is very difficult to understand/pay attention. Do not recommend whatsoever if you do not have a strong chem background and cannot understand chemistry on your own.
Lebioda is a very smart person, but is not very clear spoken so it can be hard to follow the material he presents though the lecture.
Horrible teacher if you actually need help from the lectures to learn chemistry. His lectures are extremely boring and unclear, and when people ask him questions he gives an unclear answer and continues on. I definitely wouldn't recommend him.
He is not the best teacher to have. You can barely understand him because of his accent and he has a really bad cough on top of that. He has horrible hand writing so its pretty hard to understand what he his writing and he shakes really bad. He doesn't really explain things well at all. I would't suggest taking him at all.
He's not the best teacher, but this class is probably the easiest lab science at USC. Quizzes are incredibly easy. Lab is incredibly easy. Test are really easy and he posts a practice test everytime that is the exact same format so you always know if you are prepared for tests. lots of hw but it can teach you the material.
Do the OWL to learn the material. Take a laptop to class and do it ahead of where he is in class. He has iClicker quizzes that are a bit ahead, so make sure you understand the topic on OWL first. He puts practice tests online; do those before taking tests. You do have to go to class, but you hardly have to pay attention. Easy if you keep up.
His accent makes him a little hard to understand and although attendance isn't mandatory it is best to go. He gives a lot of iclicker quizzes and to understand the material better you should go to class. Also, do the OWL homework before going to class, it'll help you understand the material.
the practice tests are helpful
I wouldn't recommend taking his class. He is very hard to understand and reads directly off the powerpoint. You have to teach yourself everything. I'm an Honors student and barely got an A.
Aside from the boringlong lectures and his accent, after the first couple of weeks you get used to this professor very quickly. As long as you do the OWLS and understand the lab manual notes you'll make an A. He does give quizzes on the iClickers almost every class, but they are easy to do and just boost your grade up. SI really helps.
Lebioda is a nice man, his teaching however is something else. He is very soft spoken and reads straight off the powerpoints. OWLS basically teach you the material. If chemistry is not your strong suit, I suggest taking someone else.
He was a really nice professor, however, his lectures are a little on the dry side. It's difficult to pay attention to him. His tests are all multiple choice, which I found really helpful! He does assign a lot of OWLS, which can be pretty time-consuming. Also, he takes attendance and participation through in-class iclicker quizzes.
The class is super easy and his tests are exactly like his practice tests.
Very hard to understand at first. The class he teaches usually has 100+ people so interaction with him is low unless you take the initiative.
His lectures are kind of boring, but this was an overall easy class. If you look at the practice tests and do the OWL homework you will get a good grade. His tests are all multiple choice and on the short side.
He can be a little confusing, and his lectures are very dry. It is hard to focus. His tests are challenging but they are all multiple choice. He allows a cheat sheet on the final. Lots of OWL assignments. He is not my first choice chemistry teacher.
Boring professor, easy class. There is a decent amount of homework, but you get unlimited attempts to get it right. I rarely paid attention in class and pulled a B+. Just do the homework, iclickers, and practice tests and you will do fine.
He is the worst professor at USC. Chem 111 is too difficult so you can definitely get by teaching yourself or going to SI, but he will not teach you a single thing. You cannot understand him so you will learn to not even try. Everyone sits on their phones the entire class and only go to class to click in for the extra iclicker points. Avoid!!!
People get intimidated because he has a very heavy accent, but he is very sweet and willing to help out students that ask! As someone that is awful at chemistry, I ended with an A because I took the time to ask.
