Great professor! Lots of work, but you should do well if you stay on task. Responds to emails quickly, and is always there to help!
Great teacher. He stays onto of you if you forget stuff, and is great about making sure you have the ability to do well. Doesn't cut a lot of slack, but if you do all of your work ON TIME, you should do ok.
This was a great class. Very well organized and the professor was super helpful and always quick to respond to questions or converns.
Awesome class. Homework and quiz every week, but learned a lot.
This was great class. The material wasn't difficult and the teacher was easy to contact.
Very easy course! Lots of online work, however it's very easy and straight to the point!
The professor has a lot of different kinds of assignments, so things get confusing, but he responds super fast if you need help. Not a good class if you're not a fan of group work tho--all of the homework is partnered up. Tests are rough, and take lots of time, but they aren't too hard. Says he doesn't accept late work, but was kinda flexible.
Nice professor and is willing to help out when your in a pickle.
Awsome professor. Very active online class, and a lot of group projects. But you learn a lot and the professors always there to help, and responds quickly.
He is a pretty easy grader. you'll have to work in groups for the homework, but its really easy. quizzes come from the homework and are pretty easy.
Took a long time, usually a week or so, to respond to emails and a week- month to enter grades. Grammar and spelling is awful on the given assignments with repeat questions. The entire class is basically read the chapter then answer 40-60 questions each week then take a quiz, and 3 short answer tests based on movies. But, the class was super easy.
Instructor is sups knowledgeable & helpful & knows a lot about the field and gives lots of insight if you ask. The weekly quizzes and home-works seem canned. The quizzes are a bit tough, so pay attention to the details. The homeworks are easy if you just do them. Instructor IS a real stickler for writing though, so do well on the papers!
This class is a joke to pass. Read the material, watch the movies, and write coherently. He grades so easily. But be warned, he never answers his phone or his emails. His organization is ridiculously sloppy. I emailed him about a group assignment a week before it was due, and he finally got back to me two weeks after the due date.
The class was pretty easy, the only con is having to work weekly with partners on weekly assignments. On 5 of the weeks assignments I have had to complete my homework alone, which is no problem but I had to finish my partners work hours before the deadline. People are not dependable, but the class is E A S Y and INTERESTING !
Its a pretty easy class, just do the homework and the watch the movies. The quizzes are over the homework. working with homework partners is rough because people are not dependable.
Quizzes are tough, and it's hard to stay on top of the weekly group work. But otherwise, the class is great. You'll learn a lot and the professor is very helpful and informative.
This professor is awesome, and the class is great. If you're motivated to learn about Deaf culture, and are prepared to do the work, the class is actually quite easy. You are required to work in teams, so get use to partnering up with people every week, and sometimes people don't respond so you're stuck working alone.
Prof. Lancaster overall is a pretty good professor. His Deaf Culture class is interesting, to say the least. You will definitely need the book, as most of his test and homework assignments come directly from it. Homeworks are always done in partners. Although this class is work heavy, if you do it, youll pass for sure!
This class is a pretty easy A, but the material you cover (a book and a few movies) is pretty interesting. You have to write a couple of papers, but they're short and easy. You read one chapter of the book a week and do half of the questions and you'll have a partner that (hopefully) does the other half.
This professor is sup nice and makes the class stuff easy. The blackboard is hard to get around but he responds to your emails really fast if you get stuck. Tough grader for the written assignments tho. Make sure you read his feedback bc the final paper is worth lots! Oh and ask about things you get marked off on--he gives points back sometimes
If you don't mind working ON YOUR OWN and teaching yourself? Go ahead. All you need is the textbook. The system grades the quizzes and test as it's multiple choice but any assignment that requires the professor to grade himself prepare to wait weeks for the grade. I get the impression he lacks care. Takes long to respond to emails.
This class is great. I'm taking it as a Gordon Rule requirement, but am finding that it actually has very interesting information. There are no exams in the course, which is great. You get a few assignments from movies you have to watch, quizzes that aren't worth much of your grade, and three really big papers.
Me and my bf took this class together for the gordon requirement and its been great. The professor is tough about writing assignments, but all the other assignments in the class are really easy. You just have to read the book, take quizzes and watch some old films.
Togh grader on those paper. But a good professor for an online class. Get ready to write.
I'm not sure what ppl are talking about with the partnered homework assignments. We didn't have any of those. Buuuut, get ready to write. He's got lots of papers, and is tough on grammer. Make sure you read his feedback, he gives loottttttttts of it. Otherwise, the course is pretty fair. The quizzes are tough, but theyre not worth much.
I enjoyed the class very much just all the movies you have to watch are old. He grades the essays hard APA style. I say actually watch the movies & read the book. A lot of questions are very specific, little detail that you know if you actually read/saw it. For me at least, he took awhile to get everything after the first couple weeks Overall great
Took more than a month to grade the paper just after another paper was due.
interesting class. the professor is really flexible and kind. he grades well and gives useful feedback.
Awesome professor. Lots of papers to write but the papers outweigh all the assignments in the class. I think you can almost not to any of the work and still get an A as long as you ace the papers. the final paper brought my grade from a C to an A
Prof. Lancaster is a good professor. I took the class online so I haven't talked to him hence I don't know how he is. The class is easy, but be ready to work! There are 12 chapters to read and 1 quiz per chapter, two movies to watch (one will have a quiz, the other a paper), and two more papers (one being the final).
Wow... Love this professor. Gave such such such good feedback on my papers. Made writing the center of this course. There are quizzes and a few other activities too. People complain about these group work assignments, but I never had them. The profs sups responsive and always there, even on weekends if ur stuck.

Interesting class Professor is very nice and understanding and you learn a lot Its a self guided class so you have to get ask for help if you want it but theres not a lot youll probablyneed help with
Sooooo much writing. Wrote more papers for this class than my english class but the quizzes and stuff aren't hard. Easy class to make it through if you like to write. If it takes u a long time to write tho be careful.
Very nice professor. This guys spends time to walk you through ch questions if you need, and makes the weight of class grades fair.
Super cool prof. He'll accept late work if you give some kind of proof that you had a real problem and the assignments aren't too bad. He's really nice and sends reminders often. Everything is open book, so youshould get a good grade easy if you do the worlk
We have to watch lots of movies, and there are quizzes every week. Nothing takes very long, but theres lots of papers. The good thing is he helps a lot and send slot of reminders to make sure you don't forget your work.
teacher is awesome and class is very informative!
Loved all the things that I learned from this online class. From me being a new student at Valencia, working through their system is a lot different from my old college. This class was a bit of a challenge for me but I really did enjoy all the assignments, the videos, and the professor ver much!
I took his class online. There were about 4 essays and the rest were quizzes (for which you need to read chapters for). Be ready for the strict grading on essays and meet the word count or itll cost you your grade. I got an 80 on an essay, was 400 words under, got a 49 on the essay. Good luck guys. Work super hard!
Make sure you know this is a gordon writing class. This professor is strict with the writing assignments. He gives good feedback tho and is responsive if you have questions about the assignments. The quizzes aren't too hard but you do have to do them every single week. He doesn't accept those late, but accepts the papers late but deducts points.
Pretty much a writing class. The professor give great feedback on papers, but be ready to write a lot. Also, doesn't take late work, so be on time. He's a nice guy who is there to help when you need him too.
Very supporting and nice professor. He's strict about being on time and is tough on writing assignments.
he thinks this is your only class and you answer the study guides for nothing because some of the questions on the quiz are completely different from the ones in the study guides. right now i have A on chemistry, biology and statistics and a D on his class. not recommend at all. it is not an easy A.
Do not take him. Mama won't let you live again.
Great professor! I had lots of questions about the papers cuz I'm not a good english writer --he met with me on Skype to help me like 3 times. The quizzes have answers in the book, too if you follow along. They are so fast. He kicked one of my classmates out of the class because she coped some of her friends papers tho, so be crful.
Not the best I've ever had. He does not respond fast and get ready to read the entire book. The quizzes are super hard if you do not read the book you will not pass. The essays are hard too, and you have to make sure it is the best essay ever or else he will not give you a good grade. I do not recommend.
At the end of class you won't know anything about deaf culture. Questions from study guides for quizzes are not on them. Info in textbook do not match answer choices on quiz. As an A student this is my only D. Insufficent times to complete any timed activity. All required reading material and movies is the same repetitive information over and over
DOES NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS. TOO MANY ESSAYS AND DOES NOT GRADE THEM IN TIME FOR YOU TO GET FEEDBACK FOR NEXT ESSAY
STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR GPA TO PLUMMET!! I was a frequent A student until this class. Impossible movie exams (mind you have to pay for the movies with your own money), insanemy difficult quizzes. Study guide does not help whatsoever so be prepared for questions you have never seen. You would think this class was worth 5 credits not just 3!
You pay for documentaries you get tested on & write essay on. There's one where actors didn't have names, so you have to keep going back to look for "man in brown hat" or "lady in red shirt". You have 1 hr to do all of this. Correct answers are hidden, emails are unanswered so you never learn anything. Very similar & tricky answer choices on quiz.
Horrible. Beware, questions in the weekly tests are NOT in his study guides! The pages listed don't have the answers most of the time! Answer choices like "A &B, but not C' or all of the above. Outdated books, movies. Cannot see quiz after to know where you went wrong. You come away feeling nothing was learned. You only learn to dislike this class
Never had a professor ignore emails like this one. There is absolutely no help when you need it. Out of 10, average quiz score is around 5 and with every quiz, your grade keeps dropping, it's that difficult. I'd prefer a teacher who actually communicates. I can't see where I went wrong in quizzes, nor can I discuss mistakes in the essays. Insane!!
Where to begin! don't hold your breath on getting a response from him. I emailed him twice. 2 days went by then a week later still know reply, I had to duplicate my email and send it again for him to respond. Sadly, U will get anxiety waiting for your written assignment grades, it will take him two weeks to grade. 2nd assign. later still waiting!
Awesome professor. The quizzes are rite from the textbook if you follow along and answer teh test questions. english is my 2nd language and he helped me with awesome feedback on my writing so much. he drops lowest scores too.
duude. IDK what everyone is complaining about. You srsly have to watch 3 movies for that are free and one for like $2 and answer some quiz questions that are str8 from the book. The papers are legit. I failed the first one, but the last two papers the writing center checked them for me and I got As on both. Mostly busy work and crazy EZ class.
The easiest A. If you know how to write using basic English and can follow along in a textbook to answer weekly quiz questions, this class should be a breeze. Quiz answers are posted online too if you search for them!
I've never experienced a professor like him, you'll need to download lockdown browser for your homework and test. You will need to write a 4-page paper 1500 -1600 words for your final. Your docs need to be saved a certain way. He does not look over papers you've written you have to go to the writing center. The good thing is the textbook is cheap.
Lots of papers in this class. The instructor is very very nice and the quizzes are right from the book so easy.
He doesn't let you see what you got wrong on quizzes, he doesn't answer emails, he took 10% off a paper for being 3 min. late when I was so ill I couldn't stand up, and he doesn't grade anything until 2/3 through the semester. This guy works at Gallaudet and is here for a free bonus paycheck. Oh and the study guides don't match the quizzes. Ever.
Worst class in the humanities. The so-called study guide is full of spelling and grammatical errors, while we are required to present a high standard of written work. It does NOT match the quizzes and the answer choices in quiz are nowhere to be found in the outdated required book. Can't learn when you can't see where you went wrong. Don't sign up
Such an awesome class. You learn so much and the teacher is awesome!
This class is super easy and the topic is very interesting. the teacher is really helpful and gives good feedback on the writing.
Feedback is problematic. This is a Gordon Rule class, so there is an expectation of writing: however, with no feedback on the essays you are in the dark. Get the e-book because quizzes are written not to test your comprehension, but your ability to regurgitate verbatim (search the e-book- I had paper). Also, quizzes have constant errors.
You can learn so much about deaf culture in this class. It's mostly a writing class, with some guided reading for quizzes and tests. Nothing to memorize or study for but the papers are graded heavily.
Although the quizzes were okay if you read the material, the essays were not very specific and it took him half a semester to grade them with no input. Emails took a while to get back to as well.
Such an easy class. More of a writing class with the papers, but the quizzes you can do in your sleep. The teacher is really accommodating when you're confused or forget stuff.
you can learn so much in this class and the assignments is so much better than the everyday college memorize and test stuff.
Been the easiest online classes. Lots of assignments but you pick which one you want. weekly quizzes are easy and not worth a lot if you miss some.
The quizzes are easy but get ray to write. Paper demands are intense.
The class is confusing at first but once you get the hang of it it's not too bad. The quizzes are a cake walk but he grades the papers kinda hard.
So accommodating with coronavirus!
This class has been awesome. The writing feedback is pretty intense though
Dr. Lancasters class is great. You have to make it through the entire book, but it's not too bad because there are weekly quizzes that are pretty easy and cover main points. Most assignments are a breeze, but the writing assignments are graded strictly so make sure you double read everything
If you're interested in Deaf Culture, Deaf Studies, or ASL, this is an awesome class, and professor Lincaster gives great information and feedback on all the assignments and is very nice
Awesome class! Lots of papers!
Class is an easy-A. Dr. L is easy going and has very easy assignments. An awesome class if you want to become an interpreter!
The notes, power points and quizzes are all set up extremely well. The information provided by professor adds to the text.
Great professor. Makes learning the material very easy and straight forward. You know exactly what you have to do every week. I really like how the class is set up.
I learned a lot of the culture and about discrimination faced by Deaf community members and how they are indeed just like hearing individuals. I really love how the professor has all the learning modules set up. It makes it really easy to navigate.
This course took my 2 years of learning ASL in High School and made it mean something. Learning about the Deaf community and Deaf culture itself really helped me understand the importance of understanding deaf people and the Deaf community.
Super cool teacher, reminds you weekly of what to do
Awesome professor. Flexible and provides excellent feedback. Also helps you stay ontop of all of the assignments.
What an awesome class! You learn so much that is very useful for nursing students. and the instructor is very good at organizing the course and reminding your of everything that you have coming up and making sure you know how to get everything in to get a good grade.
Learned so much good stuff in this class.
The best online class I've taken. Everything is organized and clear in the calendar, none of the work takes forever, and you get reminders all of time of what's due. Sometimes there a lot of busy work but it's easy
Such an awesome teacher
I learned so much in this class. Dr Luke is a great professor esp. if you're studying to be a teacher this class is super helpful
My sister and I took this class together online. Definiretl recommend taking it online! It's lots of work though but you can do it all early and make sure you stay ahead. Mr Lukas is not the best if you get stuck and have to turn in works late but most works are not worth to many pts so its ok even if you miss some stuff.
quizzes and tests are easy you can get the answer from reading the textbook. The writing assignments are heavily grading. He is a tough grader. He is not grading the assignments on time, so you have to email and ask for it.
It is not a difficult class, but you have to read a chapter each week and do two quizzes. Quizzes are not hard because they are written literally as the book. I didn't like that he never answered emails, and he takes forever to grade papers. Official grades are due tomorrow, and he has not graded my final that I submitted on time.
He is horrible when it comes to feedback and grading. It's the final week of classes and he has yet to grade my final paper that was due/submitted 3 weeks ago. The quizzes are somewhat easy as it's all from the textbook, and the video reviews are not bad, but he doesn't give good feedback at all and takes forever for him to get back to you/grade.
Be aware that he allowed 2 attempts on quizzes BUT keep your average score, without telling you which one is incorrect answer. Meaning that you will take your own risk to lower your score taking 2nd attempt while don't know which one is the wrong one
Professor doesn't respond to emails. Highly unprofessional. I sent him an email regarding the syllabus and he never responded back. I then sent him a question about an assignment and he responded back in a couple minutes. Also, his grading takes forever. Don't expect to know if he likes your writing style or how to improve for the next assignment.
Good professor but does not respond to emails. You have one chapter vocab quiz and textbook quiz each week. online textbook. must do one paper in the first half of the semester and one in the second half of the semester. easy course but have to do the work.
States that he will answer message's within 24hrs and implies that if you don't get an answer that it's your fault, then doesn't respond to messages for another 7-8 days. He takes forever to grade written assignments and claims he does not leave feedback because this is not an English course. He lists a link saying why he doesn't give extra credit.
