I love this guy. He is helpful and understanding. He gives you the formulas on the tests and explain what is what on review day. Its all about the reading and keywords. He does his best everyday. Keep up the good work!

He's great...he moves along quickly- but he has to. We learned math in addition to history which is good if you love math like I do. If you understand the math it'll make up for your lack of history knowledge. Exams are pretty detailed with the history- math is exactly what he taught in class.

Spectacular professor. Has an incredibly rapid, unorthodox and stimulating pedagogy. Course is explained rapid-fire, yet clearly and simply. If you prefer a challenge to leisure, definately choose Mannion over any other Diff Eq prof. It's a pity SJU doesn't have more professors like this one on their bankroll.

If you have him be happy but ready to work.He has no curve or extra credit but he "does the right thing" at the end of the semester.The grading policy is hard because your not technically rewarded for being there or doing your hw your grade is only based on tests.But if you pay attention in class n dont over think things, youll do fine.Hes not bad

Grades solely on 3-4 tests. No curves, no hw points, no attendance, no extra cred, no mercy. He's an ok prof. Butchered my 4.0 with a B+ bc of final-wish he was clearer w topics on final. go to tutoring, pay attention, DO THE HW EVERYDAY! it's only 3-6 problems and it really does help. Math isn't my best subject, but I still got an A- in his stat class and B in his calc class. it's not easy unless you've taken the class before or are good at math. but do all the h.w. and you should be fine. no curves or EC. just 2 tests and final. (and an excel assignment which he never gives.)

He's a great math professor, which is usually hard to come by. He dumbs it all down, if you follow everything and do the hw you'll be fine. He tells jokes and makes it lively. He's sooooo funnyyy..and reallyy good. Pay attention in his class and do all the homeworks he assign. He doesn't curve so make sure you do good in his tests. Just study and you will be fine. Mannion is an easy professor if you come to class, if not at least look through the textbook. He gives 2 exams and no curves so make sure you do well in them! All the questions on his exams are similar to the questions he assigns for homework.

The MAN for math majors. Complex analysis comes alive with a dynamic and enthusiastic educator. Lectures are given at a brisk pace. Problems sets are challenging but, then again, so is the subject. And the wonder of it. Prof. Mannion gives you a sense of the thrill of mathematics. Go Cauchy. Two thumbs up.

I'm convinced Dr. Manion is the best math teacher in the school. All those that say otherwise have never taken him before. He is great at explaining things and does things in his own way which makes problems much easier than the txt book method. HW is optional but helps. I took his numerical analysis class and he was a really good help. He'd sit with me for more than an hour sometimes helping with the material I didn't understand. He is very patient and smart

Attendance not mandatory, STRONGLY suggest you take this class seriously (since he does not give extra credit, curves and your grade is all from tests, so don't screw up the first test none get dropped!)If you are confuse go with a few others to his office hours and he'll GLADLY lecture you guys and clarify any confusions really helpful. Good teacher who makes calculus very simple. His teaching method is not the best though because he goes all over the place. If I hadn't taken AP Calc I honestly wouldn't have gotten an A in his class. However, he is very nice and is always available for help. Take him if you have taken AP before because then this class is super easy.

He's honestly one of the nicest professors I've ever had so far. He really cares about his students and is extremely helpful. However, his teaching style is a little different if you're not used to it; sometimes I have trouble following him. I'd still say to take him though.

Professor Mannion is really one of the most genuinely sweet people I've ever met. He's very down-to-earth and realizes that most kids aren't enthusiastic about math but still keeps their attention by making dry-humored jokes and he's VERY helpful in office hours. His tests are pretty fair; just study in depth the notes that he gives and that you are able to answer the question without looking at your notes. Attendance is not mandatory; old-school fashioned; won't know your name. Just keep practicing.

BE in Class!!! I regret not coming to class as much cause it was hard for me to understand statistics. Mannion is very helpful during office hours, he breaks down EVERYTHING and literally tells you what will be or not be on the test. it only sucks that he grades upon two tests and the final. other than that he knows his stuff.

Just telling you now, get used to his Scottish accent if youre going to take him. Otherwise, such a good professor who is willing to spend time on laborious questions and makes it simple. He drops one of the test grades, too. I got a 49 on one test and still got an A. Now, that's as good as a professor as you will find. He gets an A in my book.

He genuinely loves math and it clearly shows in the way he teaches. I took him for Statistics and Calculus! Would take him again and again if I had any more math credits to fill. I took him for Calculus II. Great man and pretty great teacher. Can go through topics a bit fast but he is always willing to help you out. Homework isn't mandatory but it helps you really understand the topics. Only three tests (lowest is dropped) and a final. Doesn't really give extra credit. Occasionally cancels class. He's hilarious! Reminds me of Winnie the Pooh. Anyway, very few tests, so if you've never done Calc before, come to class. Otherwise, you will get lost fast, and it's difficult to catch up. Professor Mannion is beyond fair with his grading policy he wants you to fully understand the material not just be able to take a test, HUGE on partial credit. He is a good teacher just be prepared for all board work no online slides or work. Take his class if you can!! Such a sweet man. Oh and homework is optional but you should do it.

He's such a great professor honestly. 4 tests, but none are cumulative. He breaks down the topics so well and really helps you understand things simply. Never tries to trick you on the test, what he tells you will be on the test will be on the test, nothing more.

Professor mannion was great for calculus. The grading policy is clear. You take 3 test and 2 count for 60% of your grade he drops one. Then the final counts for 40%. There is no curving and extra credit, but his test are really fair. Attendance and homework is not required, but suggested to do well in the course.

I had him for stat and calc and he is such an adorable old guy who genuinely loves math. He does move really fast though. I took calc 2 with him and he is amazing. He makes it as easy as possible to learn considering it is calc 2 which is the only reason that it is somewhat of a difficult class. He really cares about his students and his hw isn't graded or checked. I'm really sad I didn't get to see him for half the semester due to corona. He is extremely nice.

Had him for Calculus I. There are five quizzes and a final. He drops the lowest quiz grade. Each is worth 20%. He assigns homework, but doesn't grade it. His lectures can be a little long, but he also provides YouTube videos which are very helpful for some topics. All the quizzes and final were multiple choice exams. Just study and you'll be fine.

Class was asynchronous. The videos that he gave us were pretty long. The homework is not graded, BUT DO THE HOMEWORK. Class is based on 5 quizzes and a final, but the lowest quiz is dropped. The quizzes are based on the homework, so you basically must do the homework or you're screwed. Do the work as you're assigned it and you'll be fine.

I suck at math & was able to get an A. 4 quizzes (drops the lowest), a final (both mcq) and extra credit questions. Love this guy! He allowed cheat sheets for each quiz & the final; the questions were also straight forward. However to pass you must pay attention & I recommend reading the textbook & doing practice questions. No exams, midterm, or final. Only 5-6 short homeworks. The hw can be tough at times though, but it is always based on the class material, so make sure to copy his work as he writes it on the board (he goes slowly to ensure kids can copy). If you have trouble, he offers help during his office hours. He is very clear and explains all his work too.

Simple man, very caring. Not much to be graded on. Have to attend lectures to do well on the 4 quizzes and the final although attendance isn't mandatory. He allowed formula "cheat" sheets on all of the exams including the final.

He's a fair grader, very nice and even helped me during the TEST to get the right answer when I didn't have it in my notes. Go to class and write down EVERY word and number he does because it will show up on the quizzes; as long as you take good notes you'll be fine. I didn't study for my first test and still got an 85 bc I looked over the notes.

I deeply wish I could take him again, he is phenomenal! From his dark humor to his amazing intellect, he never fails to amaze me. If you plan on taking him, you MUST do the homework. I know they're optional, but they reflect test questions. The textbook will be your best friend in this class.

I loved this guy! I had him for both Calc I and Calc II and do not regret taking his classes. His grading criteria is clear; 4 quizzes, a final, and problem sets. Homework is optional, but completing the homeworks are necessary for understanding the material and doing well on exams, attending lectures alone will not cut it. Overall, he's amazing!

I took Prof. Mannion to fit my schedule and was surprised by how easy he made calculus out to be. He is very knowledgeable and easygoing. Your grade is based on 4 quizzes (the lowest is dropped) and a final exam; you're allowed to bring a cheat sheet on all of them. Just be "prepared" and you'll get an A. Sometimes he let us out of class early too.

He is a chill old man that loves math. There are 4 quizzes and on final. He drops your lowest quiz and for each test, you can bring a cheat sheet. Basically a free A.

Honestly the only reason why I got a C was because I am not a morning person especially with math. He allows you to bring cheat sheets and you can literally put sample questions on them to pass your quizzes. Gives you an online textbook for free. Nice dude and hard to fail. Just put a little effort.

Very sweet guy with a cool accent. No HW, and cheat sheets are allowed on tests. Sometimes it can get a little confusing because he writes everything on a chalkboard and can get a little messy. But he gives partial credit on quizzes if you had the right answer circled prior to a wrong one.

He is a super sweet professor. His classes are entirely on the chalkboard, so sometimes it is hard to see. If you have a question, he will take his time to explain it but sometimes it gets boring.
