This is by far the worst Math teacher I've had at UNF. Most math proff. dont speak English, but this lady takes it to the extreme. That coupled with unhelpful and uninsightful lectures makes this class one of the worst Ive been in.
Absolutely terrible teacher. Many people in her class made A's on homeworks and quizes and then made D's and F's on the tests! Something is not right there! How can we know that we need help if we are not quized on the material that she will test us on&
This is by far the worst teacher ever, do not take her. She didn't curve any test, didn't give any extra credit, and her grading is so ridiculous. Her English is horrible and when you ask her for help she treats you like you are stupid.
To begin with, she can't speak english to save her life. Second, aren't quizzes supposed to give you an idea as to what a test is going to be like!? You can get an A on every single quiz and then fail the test...
she sucks so much..dont even think about taking a class with her. worst prof. i have ever had!!
she's really bad. She doesn't give out good lectures or reviews it doesn't even help. Neither do the quizes. You do all you home work on Excel and have to take exams which has nothing to do with that. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Lumi is AWSOME! she's not the easiest, but if u PAY ATTENTION & READ the material & DO YOUR hmwrk, u'll pass! if u need help, she will assist u! SHE EXPECTS YOU TO LEARN! she has printed out notes so they are VERY ORGANIZED, NEAT & CLEAR! made an "A&
she no speaka good english and you cant understand her test what ever you do dont take her she is one of the worst teachers ive ever had
cannot communicate in english and is vauge on test material. Unless you can learn very well on your own do not bother
She doesn't speak English and is hostile towards students who go to her office to ask her questions. Expect to have to read the book and teach yourself if you want to learn anything.
She puts tricky questions on the test and leaves you to learn the material yourself. She gives homework and quizes every week. She does give some extra credit but she won't curve and grades. She'll get mad or won't understand questions asked in clas
Don't take her!
don't take her class if you can.
she's not as hard as everyone makes her out to be. her tests come strait from the homework and the quizes she assigns, though after givin a few notes she does expect you to go home and try the homework so when you come back you can ask questions.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Just for fun if you take this class, do your own statistics on how many times she says 'UM' 'UHH' or 'OK'.
Impossible to understand...she kept saying "lowes" (pronouncing it like the hardware store) when she meant to say "laws". Test average is like 60-70.
i had to drop the class because it was so difficult she doesnt explain things well her tests are very difficult and not always what she covers i would not reccomend anyone take her class

HORRIBLE professor, does not explain concepts well at all. Gives easy examples/homework and then the test questions are very complicated. MUST teach yourself, or plan on going to tutoring. pick a differant professor, there has to be better ones.
Her tests are very hard. Even if you understand the homework and quizzes, the tests are much harder. She doesn't explain things very well. I have always made all A's, and I am sturggling with a C in her class. I saw the bad ratings she got, but thought it wouldn't be that bad, but it is.
Absolutely great professor. adorable as well trust me, i'm on my third round in sta2023. she's very precise in her explanations, and the few problems she assigns as homework is helpful, but not a burden. Her tests represent the material well, and if you understand it, you will do well.
She is not a good teacher at all. The only reason that I am surviving is because I am pretty good at math and another girl in front of me understands everything. This teacher has a hard time relaying the concepts to the class because of the language barrier. I would AVOID taking her.
she is not clear and tends to be tricky on quizzes and tests.
accent isn't a problem at all. tests are tricky, but are concepts from the book. will answer questions, no matter how stupid. stays on topic. relevant examples. if you need help, she'll help you. patient with the idiots in class.
AWFUL!! This is the hardest math class I have ever taken!! Don't ever try to ask her why you got things wrong because she will take off more points! I would take another professor! I cant understand what she is talking about either!!! Dont take this class Im warning you!!!!!!
Very difficult! You can't understand her and she makes you feel stupid if you ask any questions. By the end of the course, no one wants to speak because she makes you feel so dumb. Do not take this course.
Language barrier which makes it difficult and boring. Her HW and Quizzes are easy. She gives really hard Test problems which seem to be worded differently, making it hard to recognize what to do. I got an "A" but only because I taught myself. Her notes were of some help though. Avoid if possible
Lumi is one of the worst profs I have had. The tests do not reflect the assigned homework, and so there is the tendency to become very paranoid. The book is not very good, and quite expensive, when you consider how thin it is in size, and problems/ examples
This teacher is horrible. She sucks at speaking english and she grades horribly. It is so easy to loose your train of thought in her class. I do not recommend this teacher to no one. She takes off points for not having the answer the way she wants it even though it is correct.
she is a horrible teacher! I have an A in the class because I have been able to teach myself all of the material. If you are really good at mathematics you should do well, but she grades outrageously taking off on the dumbest things even if your answers and justifications are correct. AVOID THIS TEA
DONT TAKE HER!!! Lumi is the worst teacher I have ever had! She gives the trickiest tests, doesn't allow calculators, and explains stuff in the most complicated way! Also she has horrible english! I will get a B/C in this class, and I took Calc in HS (that says it all!).
I totally agree with everyone. She is the WORST teacher I've ever had in school. I don't know where she gets some of the test problems, its not from the homework! Half the time she can't figure out how to explain things. I'm struggling for a C and might have to retake. Avoid her at all costs!
very hard to understand, and is unclear about things.
She was a terrible teacher, if you can even call her a teacher. She doesnt speak clearly and doesnt know how to explain anything. When I took this class, more than half dropped. She didnt even let us use our calculators on the tests!! AVOID HER
Shes horrible. When you ask questions, she doesn't answer them. She makes you feel like an idiot. You go to class and she changes what she orginally said. Surprises you before the tests with a no calculator rule..so be prepared to do everything in your head. I wouldnt recommend her.
Everybody is right on this page, she is the worst professor ever! I went into her office hours a couple of times and she would just look at her computer and glance at my questions, and hardly explain them. If you could avoid her, please do, she is the worst and I do not recommend her!
Worst teacher ever! I don't think she even understands what she is teaching because she doesn't know how to answer questions or explain problems. Don't ever take her!
language isn't that much of a problem. watch out for test because they are much harder than the quizzes. she offers extra credit and gives good lectures, very helpful outside of class.
Heavy accent, hard to understand. I often missed concepts because I was more focused on deciphering her English. Says things that do not make sense, then gets frustrated (often angry) when we ask questions. Presents new material on Monday, and quizzes us on Wednesday. Go with any other teacher!
With this teacher it is not so much the accent that is the problem (you tend to get heavy accents in sciences and math). The problem is the teacher's attitude. She is very disrespectful and displays total disregard for any student input. Avoid at all costs.
MY GOD! This teacher was VERY hard. The only way I passed was because my Teacher's Aid was very good! She doesnt really care if youre having problems and basically your on your own. Gives pretty decent lectures (when you can understand and stay awake) But after that...you better take any questions to your TA because she doesnt really help.
When I first mentioned this professor/class to a friend he remarked that I should get out immediately, unfortuately I didn't take the advice. The classes are unbelievably monotonous and are not at all informative. I do not recommend taking her class at all. If you can't get another professor, try to wait another semester.
Heavy accent. Horrible at explaining things. She also gives really boring lectures. Stay away at all costs.
This is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had in college. She will give you information in class( if you can understand her) and then test you on stuff she never covered or she will combine concepts that I did not even know were possible to combine. She is also one of the rudest teachers on campus. STAY AWAY!
She's NOT rude at all and DOES answer questions. Maybe the other students don't know what rude even is. Just because she doesn't baby you... This isn't FCCJ! Not unhelpful. Never seen her angry. Yes, hard to understand, but the key is just to pay attention and not get TOO wrapped up in notetaking (just listen a bit). Memorize the formulas!
Can't understand what she is saying, accent is very deep, english very poor.
Do not take this professor. She is difficult to understand. It seems like she makes jokes and makes fun of students questions so that you feel uncomfortable asking questions. She does not cover the material well.
Not only is her english bad, she also seems very unsure of herself when she speaks with plenty of "umm.." and "uhh.." She presumes everyone already knows Statistics so she belittles those with minor questions. She will pause the class for as long as needed if no one answers her question. She doesn't use her time wisely and shes almost always late.
The class isn't that hard if you actually go. She doesn't have an attendance policy and will drop your lowest quiz grade as well as your lowest homework grade. Her accent isn't that hard to understand if you pay attention. She knows what she's talking about and will help you if you ask. Make sure you bring your student ID on test days.
Her accent is not very hard to understand. She teaches well and will help those who dont understand. There is a quiz once a week, but she dropped our 2 lowest quizzes and homework grades. Three tests and they are pretty easy.
NOt a good teacher.
Prof. Lumi is a good teacher. She kept class interesting, which can be difficult when teaching statistics. The homework, quizzes, and project were all easy. We were allowed a cheat sheet (one page front and back) for the final.
If your computer crashes while you are trying to schedule her class I would personally like to meet you becuase you would be the luckiest person in the world. If you have no other choice of MAC2233 professors, try to wait another semester and take another class. If you do take her class, um...just don't do it.
Prof Razaila is a good instructor. She is well qualified to teach statistics; she knows what she is talking about. There is an accent, but there are many good foreign professors in the department that have one too. It actually can work for your advantage as she will speak slower and clearly to compensate. She is also very fair.
Worst class ever. biggest waste of time. i had to withdraw. never take this lady.
2 Tests 1 Final 20 Homeworks 10 Quizes 1 Project Dropped 2 quiz grades and Allowed us to use 1 sheet of notes on the final. Razaila does not seem to have patients for people not getting the material. Some of it stems from people not doing the homework. Tests sometimes had problems not covered in the homework but buried in your notes.
Only 2 tests. Fail 1 and you're done. MAN I wish I had "RateMyProfessor.com" back when I took her. If you can decipher her lectures (as I was fortunate enough to do for a few classes) you may be able to use that knowledge for when you retake the class :-P
This tech is one of the worst professors I have encountered. She sometimes will give you the wrong equations on problems and then do nothing to remedy her misstake. Her tests are not even in compliance with most of the material she covers so dont bother with expecting to pass, unless you want to learn the whole book, which was what I had to do.
CLEAN CUT, STRAIGHT, INTELLIGENT TEACHING. HAS AN ACCENT. VERY GOOD IF YOU LEARN TO ADAPT TO HER WAY OF SPEAKING. WHO DOESN'T HAVE ONE IN US? HELPFUL IF YOU ASK TO SEE HER. GOT AN A BY HANGING TO HER OFFICE WHEN I CAN. VERY FUNNY INDEED IF YOU MEET HER OUT OF CLASS.
She is the worst teacher I've ever had out of the 4 colleges I've attended. Not only is her English bad but her handwriting is awful. She always made me feel stupid whenever i asked her a question, and you shouldn't feel like that when you pay for a class. She wants you to take notes but she moves very fast. She made me want to leave UNF.
very very hard. hard to understand too. but she gave me a C when i clearly did worse.
Great teacher. She understands the material well and is helpful in and out of class. Gives homework and weekly quizzes. Two exams and one final. Take her if you don't mind coming to class and taking notes that will help you pass the class.
Strong accent, but you get used to it. Knows and understands the material she is teaching. Homework due once a week, graded. Tests cover the material learned in class for the most part. Work hard and you'll do well.
she's the worst teacher i have ever had. you can't understand her bc shes from Romania. You can read her writing on the board. Horrible communication skills and thats not a good thing those of us who arnt geniuses at math
Horrible, can't understand a word that comes out of her mouth, or her writing on the board. Plain horrible.
Has an accent, but she knows Statistics like the back of her hand. Statistics is not an easy subject. Be prepared to study ALOT. If you do, you will get a decent grade. Tests are hard, but material comes straight from class and the text. If you dont come to class, don't expect to pass.
I went to almost every class, took notes, asked questions and still made an F. Poor English and poor writing. By far, the worst professor I've ever had. And she will definitely make you feel stupid when you ask a question. The truth is she doesn't know how to answer alot of your questions.
Very tough class and her accent is tough to understand at first, but it grows on you. She really knows statistics, but isn't great at explaining beyond just repeating the equation. Attend each class, take good notes, do the HW & READ THE CHAPTERS & you will do fine. She will drop quizzes and curve, but won't admit it. I earned a low B but got an A.
this teacher is horrible, the material isnt the hardest stuff in the world, but she does a really bad job of explaining anything, ive taken calc 1,2,3 and differential equations and that material is much harder but this teacher makes this class hard because of her lack of communication of what she wants on her exams.
Quite possibly the next Hitler from Romania. Hates ignorant people and refuses to answer questions, quite possibly because she cant speak english. If you want a good laugh, go to class to listen to her butcher every day words and phrases. Given the chance, choose mauling by a bear instead of this class.
She not helpful at all, and did't show an interest in helping anyone, she would just get frustrated and say we were dumb and that this was middle school material.
Her lectures are useless! She complains that we don't ask questions, but when we take her up on it she ridicules us! Her favorite phrase is "that's 7th grade algebra." All of her tests have surprise questions. All questions are @ the advanced level; even though this is the basic calc class for non-math majors. I've never had a teacher this AWFUL!
barely speaks english. makes mistakes when explaining/working problems on the board. difficult to communicate with due to the fact I SPEAK ENGLISH
She is horrible. She really made me hate math. You can't understand a word out of her mouth. You can't read her writing. She gets mad when you ask questions. Nothing in this class is clear. Her automatic response to any question about your grade is "check the syllabus." Stay clear of this professor at all costs.
She is ridiculous. I went to almost every class, studied hard and still did not pass the class. Her explanations are not clear. I studied with two other people who did not pass either.
terrible... she cant speak english and is horribly boring.
Not understandable
Absolutely ATROCIOUS. While her speech isn't so bad, her assistant's was not even close to MERE WORDS. The book explains equations by writing them in english, and rarely in proper format. The book might not even mention entire sections it has questions for! This prof thinks the class is the problem, and openly expresses that feeling.
She has an accent, but is pretty easy to understand. Class is not mandatory, but I highly recommend going. DO the HW, she doesn't grade it, but it is very helpful to practice. Usually a quiz once a week. Exams aren't too hard, review sheets aren't that detailed though, so to study the handouts, previous quiz's and hw problems. Nice lady.
She is hard to understand and her breakout teacher is even harder. She can get going fast and you will get lost easily. Don't go to her office for help with work because she doesn't help you she will just tell you to look at your notes. Homework is not mandatory, weekly quizzes are easy but exams can be harder.
She is not helpful at all. College algebra is mostly review with some new material which was never taught clearly. She makes you feel stupid when you ask questions and when you do she tells you to see her in her office. Horrible teacher. I hated going to her class with a passion. I learned nothing from her.
Difficult to understand and does not seem to have a lot of patience for students who do not grasp the material. She was not the hardest professor I've had though. If you have to take her I suggest you read the book, take good notes, do all the homework and pray. Do all of that and you should have no problem passing her class. Good luck.
The textbook teaches you just as good as how she does. I had to retake her class twice in order for me to pass. Quizzes only goes up to 10pts and she takes no homework grades. If you were to JUST do all of her tests and pass them you can pass with a C. That just shows you that if you do not do good on two of her exams, you fail. Good luck.
BY the time you figure out how to study for her class its too late your already failing it. And there are not enough grades to even out one bad one.
When people decide to stop wallowing in self pity about how bad they have it, and dedicate some effort to understand what she says you actually learn the material fairly well. The only problem I have is that she won't allow an equation sheet on tests.
Not much to say here. I had her for College Algebra as well. Hard to understand. Leaves it up to the TAs to do most of the work. Just plain doesn't make sense. Avoid like the plague.
No textbook is used. The teacher speaks poor english and works the problems different than the textbook.
OUT OF THE WHOLE ONLY 5 PASSING, AND SHE CANT SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH, IF U ASK HER A QUESTION SHE'LL GET SMART WITH YOU LIKE WE JUST KNOW HOW TO DO IT. FOR 1 PERSON TO GET A "A" ON A TEST SHE GAVE 11 EXTRA POINTS AND WITH THAT MOST OF THE CLASS STILL GOT A "F" ON THE TEST...
Terrible. For a math that is actually super easy, she makes it hard. Can't understand her and when you ask questions, she acts like it's stupid. Her tests are rediculous compared to the examples from class.Don't buy the book, you don't use it.Doesn't hardly understand english, would not recommend this teacher to anybody.out of characters to go on
TERRIBLE class, super boring. Can't speak english or write on the board clearly then gets mad if you ask person next to you what she said/wrote. Hard material which doesn't help. TA is pretty good but not enough to make up for her.
She shows up to class 10 minutes late every day for no specified reason. We never use the book and it's useless to refer to it because she teaches the material differently. There's only 2 tests and she's a harsh grader.. SHOW ALL YOUR WORK actually just don't even take her at all you're wasting your time and your money.
I do not recommend taking this professor. I had her for College Algebra and she is difficult to understand and you also cannot read her handwriting. She gives pop quizzes and 3 exams. She drops 2 online home works and 2 quizzes. However, her quizzes and tests have nothing to do with the examples she shows on the board.
It's college algebra...I could pass it with my eyes cut out. Overall nice lady, can't teach though. Grades are lenient (several hws dropped and 1 quiz) also extra points are given.
I'm good at math and i didn't pass. She is a terrible teacher. She assigns the homework before you even start the class. When everyone is doing terrible, she blames us for not doing the work, when its her not knowing the work assigned. She gets mad if you ask her to repeat herself or explain something more throughly. My advice, dont take her.
Yeah she's terrible. Try your best not to take her. But if you do GET A TUTOR!!! I had to get one and I'm now passing her class. She's VERY monotone and not interesting at all. She doesn't really care if you have a problem at all either. She waits for us to answer simple questions and it's incredibly annoying. Try to avoid her for any class.
She has a bit of an accent, but besides that she is a great professor. She knows her stuff, and shows it in class. I enjoyed having her for trig! The exams were a bit rough but she gives good extra credit on them. Go to class, take notes, and study the homework and you'll do fine! :)
She is the most useless teacher when you ask her questions, but if you find help elsewhere, or understand based on the lectures, it's a really easy class.
If you have her for college algebra and don't enter the class with much prior knowledge, don't take her. She moves too fast for me and isn't a teacher you'd feel comfortable askign questions to. I'm probably going to fail, but I think if I had a different teacher it might have been a little easier.
She was not helpful at all. If you miss more than 2 classes she fails you.. THE MANDATORY lab is pointless because all you do is the homework and she is not even there to help you, and you cant leave early if you finish early. I missed one class due to an emergency appointment and she would not help me catch up on any of the material. She is awful
do not waste your money on the textbook, i havent opened it once. all homeworks are on mymathlab online, pop quizzes randomly, 3 tests including final. she has an accent so dont take if you cant understand spanish speakers. take another professor if possible!
I wouldn't reccommend this teacher. You can barely understand her and she moves through the material so fast. In the first class she said "I don't expect you to know any previous knowledge for my class" but then assumes the students understand. More than half the class dropped her within the first week and I wish I did too.
Terrible professor. Barely speaks English and skips a lot of steps. Random quizzes and I hope you studied for them because they are the harder versions of whatever she is teaching as opposed to the easy examples she gives on the board. I will admit she knows her stuff, but she does not teach it well to students. Avoid if you can.
Do not take this professor. she cant speak english and you can hardly understand her. Her quizes are a lot harder than the examples she displays and never actually answers a question. Terrible teacher
Absolutely not. Save yourself now and do not take her class.
Ms. R has a rep on here that makes you initially squeamish on taking her. In reality, she is a typical-quality math teacher. Most kids suck at math (Me), which is usually why people dislike her. She isn't that hard to understand, but unless youre a natural, you'll end up getting a B- (if you are lucky like me) or worse. No extra credit. Just Ehh
Horrible teacher. Extremely difficult tests, mandatory attendance (Missing the lab after class 2 times results in an F in the class), and worst of all she is extremely rude and mean. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
She is very difficult to understand and uses the hardest examples. Don't take her if you aren't good in algebra.
DO NOT TAKE HER! You can barely understand what she is saying and if you as her what she said, she borderline humiliates you. To top it all off, she writes in cursive and nobody can read what she is saying. I spent the majority of the class looking off other people's notes. Save your GPA and don't take her.
She knows her stuff hands down. 5 min Late for class at times, yes. So am I. Frustrated by lazy students time wasteful questions during lecture, yes. So am I. Plenty of extra credit built into her exams, quizzes and homework. She's not paid enough to babysit so show up and pay attention and you will learn and pass.
Started with 32 students, ended with six. We all got bumped up to C's so we didn't fail. Nice lady. Frustrated that we didn't understand the material she gave us. She's smart but has difficulty teaching. I made A's in Stats, pre-calc, physics, chem. All math heavy courses. Nice smart lady. Teaching might not be her calling.
Extensive monotonous homework, pop quizzes, lengthy tests. If it wasn't for Khan not sure I would have passed.
She is HORRIBLE. although she knows her stuff she is terrible at articulating the concepts. She uses unnecessarily lengthy and difficult examples right off the bat. Homework must be completed before the next class even though it isnt due because she quizzes you on it and some of the hw's are over 60 questions. DONT TAKE HER
Absolutely awful. It's like her syllabus was sent straight from hell. Mandatory attendance at the beginning and end of class. If you miss attendance 2 times you get an automatic F in the course. No late work accepted. No makeup quizzes. Homework every day, due the next class. She has an annoying voice. Too few words allowed here to describe the bad
One, hard to understand. Two, humiliates you if you dont understand material. Three, HARD. When it comes to tests she gives you a review but if you ask questions, most of it shell say look in your notes and wont help. Awful
1. Can NOT understand her. 2. Don't bother going to her office. I wasn't doing well in her class so naturally thought "I'll go to her office to get extra help" only to find out she gets mad you don't understand the material. (Hello that's why I'm here) 3. You WILL regret taking her... No doubt.
Terrible Professor, doesn't post anything on Blackboard so you won't be able to know your grade during the semester. She can't speak proper english, and admitted that her tests weren't made to be passed. 90% of her students fail the class or drop it. DO NOT TAKE!
If you have a hard time with math, she is NOT the teacher to take. Does not explain things well. Her TA does not know what she's doing. Her office hours are non existant. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
NEVER take her. I had to withdraw from her class. along with 8 other students. If you take her, make sure you're bilingual. All labs are mandatory. But don't expect to get any help there, because the TA who she hires will most likely not be able to talk like ours.
Agree with all the other reports I've read on her, so as to not be redundant I'll address the book. Buy your own if you like to help supplement her lack of teaching but it is only mandatory for the online code for the extensive hw assignments.
No one can understand a word of what she says, and she uses Greek notation in her curriculum and expects us to know it.
I wouldn't recommend her due to the fact that her homework and quizzes don't align very much. Her teaching confuses me and can get mad if you don't understand it. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!! I have a C, but I have a tutor. She does allow a two page cheat sheet for the final, but thats the only good thing I can say.
Worst possible teacher, not helpful at all.
If you took Calc in high school, her class is easy. She gives lots of notes and the class starts slow but then picks up. Pop quizzes at the beginning of class that relates to the MathXL homework. You can show up, take the quiz, and then leave class and still pass. Do the homework and you'll do fine.
This teacher is foreign which means she doesn't speak English that well. She isn't present for tests and classes and during class she writes notes on the board off a piece of paper and she can't even explain what she writes down... It's a lecture hall class so basically be prepared to teach yourself. Ohh and she doesn't update grades until last wee
I had Razaila for precalculus and it was by far my most boring class. I don't blame her because it's hard to sit in a math class for an hour and a half. The homework she assigns isn't too long, she is somewhat tough grading on the tests. Even if you get the right answer but do the work slightly wrong you'll get points taken off.
She made the class extremely boring and didn't explain anything
Just want to start off by saying I respect her, but wow. In High School algebra was never this hard but with her it was the most difficult thing I ever did. Just be prepared to have 2 quizzes every class (1 in the lab & 1 graded as HW) and having 2 exams on exam day (1 in regular class & 1 in lab). I dropped the class, very difficult to learn IMO.
My math lab sucks, tests are 1/2 computer 1/2 paper but she teaches different then MML. 2 quizzes a day and lost of homework. She doesn't actually teach she just has you buy a book of problems she made then does them on the projector ( cant explain what she did) and she skips steps. When she grades it can be right answer but not her way so its wron
There is a quiz for HW on top of that a quiz every day. The exam is not difficult if you review over the material easy to pass. Speaks differently and kinda boring.
completely awful, gets half the questions wrong in class, and you can't understand her. if you solve a question your own way it doesn't matter if the answer is right and you showed work, she will mark it wrong
Do not take her for trig, especially if you're not strong in math. She goes through her lectures so quickly, you might as well teach yourself via Khan Academy. She's not very nice and doesn't respond to your emails. And if she does respond, she won't answer all of your questions. Save yourself the trouble and find a prof who's good at what they do.
Frequency of quizzes basically makes attendance mandatory. Dry lectures that are hard to pay attention too, but are 100% necessary. She can only tackle explanations of material in one way so asking her questions is pretty pointless if you didn't get it the first time. The pace is merciless, so don't skip class.
I had Razaila for online elementary stats for business, she was very lazy. Only documents she would post for each module were PowerPoints that were copy and pasted from the textbook. I had to use YouTube videos since her PowerPoints were useless. She also used a exam proctor site called examity, which isn't great by any means.
She provided "lectures" which were just copy/paste from the textbook that she read the words off the slide She provided "notes" that were copy/paste from textbook Textbook was very wordy Formulas were hardly ever explained Barely any tutoring on campus, the tutoring provided on campus wasn't good either Online proctoring had very specific rules
First of all, if I could give her a 0 I would. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I really enjoy statistics but she completely ruined the subject for me. I can barely pay attention in her class because her teaching skills are just reading the notes she hands out verbatim , but I was forced to go and stay until the last second because of the attendance grade.
I almost failed this class, i understood absolutely nothing. I could tell she wanted to help around the end of the semester but there were times i wouldn't even get responses on Canvas unless i messaged her one or two more times. I don't recommend, nothing against the professor, just impossible to follow along.
She's not the best Professor but there's worse. If math is not your thing look elsewhere. Just PAY attention in class, work the classwork, DO your HW, and STUDY! If you don't put in effort of course you won't pass. She is not a great teacher; she reads off the slide but if you put in a little effort class is straight forward. She prints everything!
Really hard class. Notes are often extremely hard to decipher and I ended up teaching myself most of the curriculum through statistics websites I found on google. The exam proctoring software used in this class is really strict and often doesn't go smoothly. Wouldn't recommend this class or professor.
do NOT take her - esp. online. Get ready to teach yourself. She doesn't explain things well, she uses bad methods for proctoring, she provides NO study guides for tests (I mean it). Her Practice Exams are immediately locked, making them pointless since you can't SEE what you missed. Also VERY unresponsive to questions and emails. DO NOT TAKE HER.
The first module or two was very straight forward, easy to follow. But it gets much harder very quickly and Prof Razaila's resources are not helpful. Her lectures are disjointed and are just her reading the slides, there aren't any explanations. The quizzes have nothing to do with the hw and the hw is nothing like the lectures. All is self teach!
In her defense, I have always been very bad at math. However, I would spend a day starting a 8am to 7:30pm doing one assignment which does cause much of an effect to your grade. The quizzes are very different than what you learn through the lectures and hw. When I asked her for help, she sent me a very generic answer that didn't help at all.
Not as bad as the reviews say. You get a cheat sheet for the tests where you can write formulas down. Lectures can get confusing but there are hints in the homework that can clear things up. There is a practice test that will literally have some of the tests questions on it word for word. She gets a bad wrap but the online class wasn't that bad.
Dr. Razaila can be lenient but don't overuse your excuses; she grants equity to everyone when it comes to extensions. This semester was tough so a lot of us bombed our final exams, so she extended the assignment due dates and attempts. It's not a general thing, but I am appreciative that she did this; it gave me a chance to pass with a C :)
She is no help and neither are the assignments. She will narrate a PowerPoint slide, and then copy the same slides into a format and calls it "homework notes". Assignments done in my lab show no help when problems are wrong. If this is your ONLY option prepare to teach yourself. Tests are more in-depth than the material she provides you with.
Very confusing lectures and no help whatsoever. If you end up taking this course just go to tutoring for help, that is the only way you will learn anything.
I think Professor Lumi is a bit overhated on here. You get a cheat sheet on all exams and as long as you do the homework the exams are pretty easy. She grades very kindly. Also, we had a ton of attempts on each homework and quiz. Yeah, her lectures were a bit monotonous but as long as you show up to class and do the work you can get an A.
Proctors test with your webcam, it's whatever, I get it that you don't want cheaters. Terrible lectures, reads PP slides with a terrible mic and a heavy accent. HW has nothing to do with the lectures. Course is great for 2 modules, then hits you like a brick with no explanation. Just like any math textbook, it's impossible to read and understand.
She is absolutely brutal truly brutal as someone who struggles to pay attention in class sometimes she makes it 100 times worse terrible teacher please do not take.
Don't do it, she cannot teach you anything she just reads the book from a power point and then quizzes you the very next class. The pace is ridiculous and she is very unforgiving. If you take this class you're going to be in the math center every day. She makes it way harder than it has to be and to top it off you can't understand what she says.
She'll attempt to answer homework questions but is way too condescending for someone who blatantly gives us the wrong answer or changes the topic when she doesn't know basic statistics. Homework is heavy. You get a cheat sheet and 10 bonus on exams but it doesn't help much since she's such a tough grader. DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE POP QUIZZES
Wish I could rate lower than 1 star. She does not teach at all, only reads from slides. She does not answer your questions, even in her office hours. She shames students for not affording the expensive calculator. She also has favorites, which happens to be all the white kids in the class. DO NOT TAKE.
It truly is a shame she has a job probably the worst professor at unf she grades incredibly hard and simply just does not teach
Razalia is a tough teacher in a tough courses, but for statistics for engineers the tests are almost identical to the handouts, the handouts are ALL solved and available, and if you understand the HW you should be fine. She did pop quizes but stopped after the average was below 30. Quiz and exams are almost identical to HW and handouts.
The content of homework will not prepare you for the test, and the content of the test won't prepare you for the exam.
Barely helped throughout the semester and when you asked a question, she wouldn't really answer it in the way that could prepare you for the exams. If possible, take another professor that actually helps students.
Lumi's class was a mixed bag - her lectures could be dry, but the exams were fair with cheat sheets. Definitely use unstuckstudy and other online resources to supplement the course materials. Overall, it's doable with diligence.
Professor Luminita gets a lot of undeserved hate in my opinion. Are her lectures boring? Yes, they are a snooze fest, and the quizzes are not fun to take. But the homework isn't too bad, and honestly if you just do the homework and study a decent amount for the exams she's actually a good professor. She also is fairly generous on exams.
Generally disrespectful. Fails to help students conceptualize material and dogmatically preaches material withut having any proactiveness or posiitve feedback regarding any topic inside the class.
Her lectures are just copy and paste from the textbook. You basically sit and listen to her read from the sides for an hour. Total self teach class. Homework and hand outs don't get you prepared for the exam or quiz's.
I took this class online--It was fine. The lectures did not address all the information in the homework, so you have to figure a lot out for yourself. I had tech issues twice and emailed her and she was speedy and helpful in her responses, so no complaints there. If you're good at stats, you'll figure it out, and if not, take a different professor.
This class was actually not that hard. I can somewhat see why she would get the rating she does but she's actually kinda chill. Attendance is extra credit but the material is hard to understand if you don't go. If you know math really well and understand stats you'll be fine. Weekly quizzes and she's very consistent in homework. Overall pretty easy
I'm sorry but please do not take her class. I had statistics with recitation online, worse experience ever. She doesn't really explain things in a way that you can understand so yeah. Just don't take her or at least take a math class in person and in person ONLY!!!
