Dr. C is a very nice woman however, she gives extremely long readings. You can expect about 2-3 long readings every night. Comprehension is impossible and her lectures are given through a live stream for Spring '21 so we can only ask questions through chat which aren't always answered. She goes into depth about the topics VERY early on.

She's a good teacher, but the readings she gives will take up most of your free time. However, when it comes to grading assignments, the TA's come in, and oh boy, have fun trying to decipher the meaning behind your grade because you can put the same effort into two assignments and get entirely different grades. The rubrics are also a complete joke

Dr. CdeBaca is a nice lady and is clearly very knowledgeable in her field, however, if you're like me and hate history, this course is basically another history class. This is probably what the class entails and it is not her fault that she must teach this, but she is not engaging at all. Any free time you have will go to reading for her class.

As an engineering major, this wasn't a dreadful class like other ratings. I was easily able to manage the weekly writings (200-300) words and the midterm and final project. There are a lot of readings, but they ALL aren't mandatory, you can read the some of it and make it through, which the majority do. The class mainly teaches you how to analyze

Absolutely take American Lit with Dr. CdeBaca-Cruz. The course itself is pretty easy, with a few readings per week and a reading journal at the end of the week. One or two essays throughout the semester, but you work on them and the reading journals during discussion groups. Even though this class is "American" literature, the readings are diverse.

Dr. C was fine. The class had a ton of readings, and most of them were kind of hard to follow at times. Her lectures were very drawn out and not as engaging as one would hope for. Weekly required discussion sections with our TA's did help a lot though in terms of understanding what was going on.

This class had the WEIRDEST way of grading. You could do perfect all semester but if you mess up on the last project you get a B or C. Discussions were mandatory and painfully boring. Overall easy class, you don't need to read everything. Grade is slightly dependent on who your TA is but if you put in a little effort you'll easily get an A.

This class has as a very WEIRD grading system. There is only Complete or incomplete for assignments, so even if you get one thing wrong on a journal instead of getting say an 80 you are given an incomplete. A few more of these mistakes and you grade can drop from an A to a D in instant.

Every assignment is either a complete or incomplete and if you get an incomplete on just two of the weekly assignments you automatically get a B. These weekly assignments are also graded super harshly - if you miss a single thing or don't do it well enough you automatically get an incomplete on it. Try and take this course with another prof.

Prof CdeBaca and her TAs have been great for this E316M summer course. Just a reminder-- most people who leave reviews on RMP are bitter because they aren't doing well. The most prevalent issue in this class is the TA's. Professor C's lectures are informative, but your grade lies entirely in the hands of either an incredibly lenient TA or one of the most ambiguous/strict TA's you'll have in a class. You can literally write a masterpiece essay for a journal prompt that has a few questions and receive no credit.

The structure of the class with grading was frustrating. Professor expected students to complete entire modules within two to three days, these modules often took me five hours to complete. It took over two days to get my grade back to move onto the next module. This caused me to already be behind because of the slow grading turnaround.

easy A but annoying class setup. You had to get perfect scores on the homework to access the next module, but the TAs graded weirdly so it's easy to get behind. I often had to wait days for grades and I would have to submit the next assignments late.

Do NOT take this class unless you have a lot of time to devote specifically to it. It can be very easy to fall behind bc of the grading system. I worked incredibly hard & was still stressed throughout the course. If writing isn't your thing, take this at a CC. I would take this prof again for an in-person class bc prof & TA's were fair to me.

This class is unnecessarily difficult; the lectures and readings are long. When grading the reading journals the feedback given is vague and the TAs usually just quote the prompt with no real explanation. TA is different for every assignment so no real connection formed. This was more time-consuming and more work than my summer stem classes.

This class is so annoying. The assignments consist of reading journals, which at first seem chill, but eventually escalate into you writing 1500+ words per journal. There are also so many readings and they take forever to do. She posts hours of useless lectures on top of that. Grading system is awfully slow.

This class consumed the final weeks of my summer. Everything revolved around painstakingly writing reading "journals" for this class. The lectures were incredibly slow and hard to follow. She posts so many readings and her lectures are hours long (and pointless). After module 2 I didn't bother watching the lectures. The majority of the work in this class are the reading journals, which have vague prompts and take hours to write. Self paced class, so don't fall too far behind the suggested due dates. It's a lot of effort to get an A

The lectures were useless and I never watched them. Your grade 100% depends on your TA, I was lucky enough to get one who graded pretty easy so I never had to re-do an assignment. Overall easy.
