Great teacher! There are plenty of guest speakers that you can possible get an interview with and she's really enthusiastic about the material--great class!

Material is not that hard. As long as you study, you will most likely get an A. Lydia is a great teacher, plus I think she is so hot ;)

Do not hesitate to take this class. Easiest class EVER. She lets you do everything at your own pace, and theres only homework quizzes and 3 exams. The exams are EXACTLY the homework quizzes and you can take them as manny times as you need to. Clear grading and not hard to keep up at all. Just study homework quizzes for the tests. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Honestly easiest class ever. This class is required if you're a Hospitality minor like me however, exams are the quiz questions. There's a quiz every week with unlimited attempts. Didn't need the textbook. Case studies are simple. It would be extremely difficult to get anything less than an A.

The only time attendance is mandatory is when there are guest speakers. All of her exams are on quizlet but she literally tells you that the first day. So funny and a great person to go to for life advice in general. If you read the quizlets and go to class ESPECIALLY the guest speaker days you'll get an A.

Nothing but good things to say about Lydia and this class. Very straight forward, 4 tests and a few attendance days and thats it. The tests are the powerpoints and reading the textbook. Material is common sense and Lydia makes it easy to listen to.

She goes above and beyond to find guest speakers in big companies such as Ritz Carlton and Disney to speak about topics to relate to the chapters you are learning about. On top of that, she offers optional free lunches and coffee hours to talk to the speakers for internships. Great teacher!!!

One of the absolute best professors at Florida State. Only 8 attendance days and they literally boost your grade so much. Lots of room for extra credit to get the grade that you want. You have to actually study pretty thoroughly for the exams, but if you have a general understanding of how operations work at a hotel, you'll be great!

Took this class online for my hosp minor and it was challenging. The class is a virtually reality sim where you'll do marketing, pr, and other business functions. It got easier towards the end of the semester but the sims do take a good hour to complete if you want full credit for them. Still managed to get an A! No textbook, just the sim code.

I literally only went to two classes all semester, the first day so I wouldn't get dropped, and then the last day because we had an in-class quiz. Guest speaker days were extra credit

You can drop one exam grade, quizzes are all at home as well as simulations and she offers days in class to do them with groups if you choose. Attendance is only mandatory on random days and you get 2 extra credit points for guest speakers.

I absolutely loved Dr. Hanks' class. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, her easygoing, funny personality makes you want to go to class to hear what she has to say. She's super knowledgeable and helped me a lot outside of class both with helping edit my resume, and giving useful insight on how to nail an interview. I would 100% recommend.

You don't really have to go to class to pass, you just need make sure you do all the simulation homeworks and read the textbook & study quizlets for the exams and you should be good. With COVID and all, this class was pretty easy. Weekly quizzes and sims. Dr. Hanks is such a caring & sweet prof I wish I had the chance to take her class in person.

Class is made up of simulations each week putting into practice various marketing skills. Not much involvement from Dr. Hanks but she seems nice and was flexible when people didn't turn in work on time. The simulations aren't too difficult if you look at the PowerPoint. Also have open note quizzes and a discussion board each week. Easy class.
