Not a very good professor. Treats the students like middle schoolers and will make you stand up in front of class to do the most unnecessary things.
She gives A TON of opportunities for extra credit. She is always available to help you outside of class. If you don't enjoy this class it is probably because you are not willing to try.
She is a great professor and sweet person, but she is too much of a stickler for rules. Only get 2 unexcused absences for the semester for a MWF class. Does book checks during attendance to make sure you have it. RIP to my back for packing that book with me every MWF for reading definitions.
She makes class fun and interesting. However, there is a lot of work required for this class in order to get a good grade. My only complaints is attendance is mandatory and she does not always give clear direction.
She is an amazing professor. Although she makes class very relatable and enjoyable, the tests are very hard. They wouldnt be so hard if you knew what to study. So much content and no direction on what to study. If there was a study guide for every test this would be one of the best classes I have taken. Still recommend!
After 4 years of college, I thought I was ready for the real world of marketing, however, after having Dr. Njoroge, I have learned exponentially more than before and have again fallen in love with marketing and research. Dr. Njoroge loves what she does and makes it her goal to have her students succeed. If you TRULY want to learn, take Dr. Njoroge.
She is good at what she does, but tries to push her liberal propaganda on students. She also wastes roughly the first 10 minutes of class with nonsense. But once class actually starts she means business.
Good professor.
The class itself is easy, but you truly have to work to maintain a good grade. You will have to stand up and read... which sucks. If you have anxiety about reading out loud do not take this class. If you want to skip... do not take this class. You only have 2 days able to miss, which is absolute wack.
Very good professor.
She is very passionate about the class. Gives lots of opportunities for extra credit.
She wants class participation but want students to read aloud which takes up a lot of class time. she teaches off Power Points with little information so you better come to class. lots of terms but majority aren't even on the exams.
Good professor that is willing to help you learn if you show the interest and effort that is needed. Lectures are fun to participate and arent always super serious which keeps your attention. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Very helpful to students who are willing to put forth effort! Would take again.
Shes good!
She is a good professor. She kind of relates things to more modern material than what is given in the textbook. Offers plenty of extra credit points.
Dr. Njoroge is very caring and aware of her students. She is always willing to listen to her students needs through the semester. Shes very understanding yet demands respect. She doesnt come out and say you respect me but the way she conducts herself does. Very professional yet, friendly. A great professor all around.
Not super boring like I thought it would be. She makes the class entertaining.
Good professor!
Good professor, but wastes a lot of time trying to get people to participate in class. This can become irritating if you just want to sit and learn and not just read definitions off a paper. Doesn't always reply to emails. Little information of powerpoints, need to take notes on examples and things said in class because they will pop up on exams.
I hate that we lecture so much and then take exams. I understand we have power points but I don't feel like they help very much. The exams are hard and I never really know what is going on. Also the professor doesn't like when we don't get things done quickly but she is the one off topic. Not a bad professor but I don't preferably like the class.
The exams have been difficult for me but the class is overall enjoyable. There is a large group project over the semester but it is nothing to freak out about. Overall a good class and professor.
Good class
This class is not an easy A she does offer extra credit but you do have to try within this course. You have to show up, be prepared and put fourth effort both in the exams and the group project. She is a nice person and the course did get easier as we went along but initially it was tough.
This professor is great and makes the class very interesting. Her exams are based mostly on lectures. Overall good class.
She is a good professor and really listens to concerns of students. Just be at the class and try- you will pass. The group projects can be hard but just be in class and ask questions and you will be fine. Only can miss 2 unexcused days though...
Since this is her first semester in the beginning of the semester I hated this class, but as time has past she has turned into a really good professor. Her tests are difficult but the project can make up for it. Overall, this class has been very entertaining!
The professor is really good and they mean well but the issue is that they rely heavily on participation during class to move it on. From time to time topics could drag on.
She relies heavily on participation like someone else mentioned which definitely is a distraction from the material of the course. A lot of times you have to refer to the book and study that more than the notes you've taken. However, she's very humorous and has a great personality. Most of all, she knows what she is talking about.
Not many assignments but class participation greatly influences the pace of the class
I personally really enjoyed having her and would 100% take her class again, no question. She was always offering to help outside of class. I really feel like she made class fun and enjoyable. The tests aren't difficult if you have a good study habit, which she makes herself available to study with. I highly recommend her class.
Not many opportunities to raise grade outside of exams and one project that pretty much decides your entire grade. There are extra credit opportunities, but it would be nice if there were more assignments to raise the grade.
Dr. Njoroge is very considerate about her students and takes the time to make sure everyone is on the same page. Overall, I learned a lot from this class and had a good time attending it! She makes topics very relatable to the real world and makes everything clear.
It is apparent that Dr. Njoroge cares about her students' ability to gain something from the class. Participation is constant, which is good for conversations on topics we've discussed, but I felt it wasted time when she tried to get us to guess the meaning of terms we hadn't learned yet. Sometimes I almost wished we would've been lectured to more.
Not an easy class !
The professor is tough and she makes the work seems harder than it should be, the class could be easier, its not an easy class but the professor can make it easier for the students.
Lectures are the main thing. Actually like her teaching but the tests are very hard.
Very knowledgeable, brings a fun energy and enthusiasm to her lectures. However, the easy-going classroom atmosphere can trick you into thinking the tests will be easy. Grades are sparse and seems to be made up for with extra credit given out to random people at random times. Truly cares about her students and being a good professor though.
Literally gives you a term sheet from the chapters in the book, read the definitions, and call that lecture. Makes completely random examples and expects you to remember them for the quiz. Goes off topic everyday in class, barely gets anything done. Dr. Njoroge would be a great elementary, middle, or high school teacher. Doesnt belong in a college
Lecture
she's a very hard professor. requires a text book to read definitions so if you take this class just pay the extra for the ebook because you will need access to a book TO GET YOUR ATTENDANCE POINTS. she also only allows 2 unexcused absences in her class everything after affects your grade.
Dr. Njoroge is a very nice professor. She gives extra credit opportunities and is willing to help. However, she is not always prompt about returning emails. You have to bring your book to class in order to receive attendance points, but we have only used the book in class a handful of times. There is also a lot of wasted time with tangents.
Nice professor, but her tests are rocket science. Way too hard on her tests.
Dr. Njoroge is a fun professor. Her lectures are interesting, but she makes some things quite hard to understand. She has a unique way of explaining, and her tests are quite difficult; they are too hard to go without a study guide or something similar. She is still a good professor, but just too hard sometimes.
Dr Njoroge is a lovely person. Just wish that she gave more guidance for what will be on the exams or have more assignments and opportunities for points other than the difficult exams and group project.
Great person but should work on her teaching. She likes class participation so get ready to read aloud a lot. Does give extra credit which is really nice. Her exams are more difficult than you would expect. Don't skip or you won't pass period.
Dr. Njoroge gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities. The exams are hard, but you have to study for them. You have to participate in class as it is a grade.
Dr. Njoroge has been a great professor. You can tell she truly cares about your success and will go out of her way to help you if you ask. You will learn in her class and participation will go a long way.
She cool peoples
I really enjoy this class. The only thing I dislike is the attendance policy.
At the beginning of the semester, the syllabus made this course seem hard and very time consuming. She actually makes this class enjoyable and gives plenty of time and feedback to receive the grade you work for. I recommend taking her!
I like this professor. She is easy to understand, caring, and is willing to work with her students. She does a very good job of making sure everyone feels included. Unfortunately the group work very much turns me off to this course, as team members don't care and you end up doing the majority of the work if you want a good grade.
I was worried this class would be very difficult and time consuming, but Professor Njoroge made lectures engaging and entertaining. She provided plenty of opportunities for extra credit and gave helpful reviews before each test. I did well on the tests but you'll need to study for them.
At the beginning of the semester I thought this was going to be a very time consuming and difficult class. Dr. Njoroge made lectures fun, interesting, and easy to understand. I really enjoyed this class!
I highly recommend Dr. Lydia Njoroge. Although she lectures quite often, she makes her lectures interesting, fun and engaging.
Is a knowledgeable professor in her area, but sometimes gets off track a lot and wastes up time.
Class is basically just lecturing and exams. There is also a group project consistent throughout the year. Also show up for class because that is also graded.
Going into the class I was a bit intimidated, but Dr. Njoroge is super nice and cool to talk to. The class is mainly lecturing, but not boring like most others. I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Njoroge.
Professor does a great job teaching material and actually want's students to succeed. Class is broken down into topics that flow together.
Professor Njoroge is a great professor. She really does care about her students And tries to make class interesting. Class is lecture heavy. There's only 4 tests all year that are pretty difficult and she is ver unspecific about how to study for the tests. Also theres a group project due at the end of the term and she does not grade it as you go.
Lectures are informative and interesting, but don't really correlate to the test. She teaches for the test, not for knowledge though. I'm not sure what I learned and I tried hard. Never answered emails timely, does give extra credit, cares about the topic + teaching, but doesn't always make sense. Very definition heavy. Don't miss exam day, show up
A very nice professor who cares about what she is teaching. However at times it felt she might be better suited to teach a high-school class with the ways the lectures and assignments were structured and how she responds to some questions. Don't miss class and study for exams and you should be fine.
Lectures often did not help with the tests and a specific range was not even given. However, does care about clearing up any issues.
I really enjoyed the class and her lectures. She isn't the easiest professor I've ever had but she isn't overly difficult either. And I actually feel like I learned some things unlike a lot of classes. There is a strict attendance policy so just don't skip and read the book and you should be fine.
Dr. Njoroge is a great lecturer. She knows how to describe the material in different ways to help you work through a solution. This class required a textbook, not very large. However, there is a lot of reading to do so be prepared.
Gives a clear understanding of the material while facilitating it in a clear way where it is easily understood.
Great professor. Classes are lecture-based and subjects are discussed as a class. Book is very important and there is a group project that is due at the end of the year.
I've worked really hard to do well in this upper-level course. The weekly assignments are not hard if you actually do them and use your book. I had an A at midterm but am afraid the final group project is going to kill my grade. The project itself is difficult to understand what she is asking for and she has been extremely rude with the feedback.
I'm not sure if it's because this was an online course, but this was a confusing class. The professor was hardly clear on due dates, and the course was hard to understand from the start. There was little guidance for the whole class, especially for the semester-long group project, which made things difficult. There are options for extra credit.
Wonderful professor who is very clear and concise, if you happen to catch her. The online formatting and sporadic due dates make the course more difficult than it needs to be. The project useful, however, it's an ONLINE group project. She is a stickler for details, quality and punctuality- which stings considering how inconsistent she herself is
She is a wonderful professor. However, she is very strict when concerning attendance and grading criteria. She is willing to work with you and is always available to help.
Attendance is mandatory. Overall, I thought the class was fine, I didn't care for having to type up our notes very week, the group project sucked because it lowered my grade and no one understood what she wanted it to look like.
There are weekly assignments and quizzes, but they are not very time consuming. You will need the book to complete the weekly worksheets. Quizzes arent bad. There is a group project thats conducted over the entire semester, and 4 parts are submitted along the way at varying times to make sure progress has been made.
Weekly worksheets and quizzes. Mostly just definitions, so it feels like busy work. Quizzes are weirdly hard for no reason. No exams. Semester long group project. No clear grading criteria. Gives rude feedback on your submissions. Takes forever to reply to emails. Pointless discussion boards every week. Extra credit is minuscule, but it's offered.
She is a really nice woman if you get to talk to her, but she is kind of hard to get a hold of through email. She asks a lot of you in being punctual and concise and prepared for everything, even though she is not always prepared and consistent herself. Online class, overall not bad, mostly busy work.
One group project worked on all semester long. If you do not have a good group you will struggle.
if you miss class you will lose points for attendance and miss a lot of notes from the lecture. There are extra credit opportunities. 001
Don't be fooled by Small Business course title. The semester group project is a large business market analysis. I would advise non-business majors to avoid this class unless they passed Market Research MKT452. The professor can be nice but also intimidating. She expects alot, Its tough if your group does not have prior great mkt research skills.
After transitioning to online school we moved to weekly quizzes which I think helped more, but the group project got harder since we were not able to meet up with the other members and some members completely ignored us and the work. You must show up if you want to pass, but also study definitions heavily for the exams since that is the majority.
Wasn't a bad teacher and was really good at giving lectures. 001
Dr. Njorgoe is a very nice professor in person. Her grading criteria and instructions are not very clear at times. She is willing to work with students to clear confusion, but not always in a timely manner.
Great professor be prepared to work.
extra credit for every week, attendance & quizzes every week as well. term paper due with an assigned group.
Dr. Njoroge is definitely one of those teachers that makes you reevaluate the effort you put into the class. She is more than willing to help you, as long as you're willing to work for it. Highly recommend. I learned a lot.
Her class is intimidating at first but its not that bad. You have to go or you wont get a good grade. Its lecture heavy from the textbook and you have to participate in discussion. You have to bring your book. The group project really isnt that bad and theres extra credit. Shes just not good at emailing back and a little unorganized
She is willing to help during office hours or through email.
Pretty straightforward class. Pay attention to the lectures and study the powerpoints and the exams are not that bad. The group project might be pretty time consuming but it is not that difficult. She also provides feedback throughout the semester so you have plenty of time to make corrections if needed.
I don't think she is really that hard of a professor as long as you show up to class and take good notes. Everything on the exams are covered in lectures and the semester long group project is split up so you can keep up with it easily. Also, plenty of opportunity for extra credit if you want it or need it.
Okay professor. Demands respect. If you have trouble completing assignments on time, this class is not for you. We have about 1-2 assignments every week and they are graded very difficultly. Expectations are not always super clear but if you ask questions she will clear it up. In class participation is mandatory, if you don't talk you will fail.
This was her first time teaching the class, so I will give leeway for that, however it was not the best. The textbook could have been better chosen as it was very computer heavy rather than marketing. She does grade tough, but gives a lot of extra credit at the end, so make sure to make time for it. I would take her again.
She teaches this class very well and makes the material easy to understand; you can tell she enjoys it. The only thing I would say is be prepared for the group project. She teaches it out of order to see how you would do it first then show you the correct way. It irks me some, but I get the value in it and she said the results aren't that important
She has good potential, but she has areas that need improvement. She doesnt give clear instructions. Doesnt follow through timely on feedback for the final project as she said she would do. The exams are very easy. Lectures are sometimes hard to follow. She is very personable and willing to help. Overall, it just take some time getting adjusted.
Avoid. Class did not follow syllabus with big changes made until end of semester. Final project is a hindrance, achieves nothing. You have to stay on her about adding files to Blackboard. Total confusion throughout semester. Tough grading on unclear assignments. Course management discussed more than content. New class for her, hope it improves.
Dr. Njoroge tends to add a lot of weight to few assignments. There is ample room to receive extra credit. Every course I've had involves a semester long group project. The project tends to be kind of vague, however, she is very willing to help during office hours. If you do not ask questions, you will likely be confused.
I thought the class was pretty easy overall but you do have to actively participate in class.
You get what you earn. I didn't take the class seriously till later in the semester and it really hurt my grade.
Extra credit is taken away due to one person's mistake in class, almost feels like a high school punishment. And the extra credit we are 'graciously' given makes the overall grade suffer for some reason when it's extra credit. It shouldn't deduct your grade & usually when you email you don't get a response back, in my experience at least.
Dr. Njoroge is a good lecture professor. She makes the content understandable for college students. The worst part of this class was the group projects
The course was a mess all semester long and no organization. The lectures were very vague making the exams extremely hard to study for.
This class was a complete mess. It was just day after day taking turns reading parts of the book like small children. She insulted us regularly, and will not for any reason answer emails. She likes to say she'll answer questions people have, then not answer or belittle them for asking. The work is very hard and super vague.
I had her before, and for this class specifically she seems less interested compared to other classes. She came into the semester not prepared for her assignments & she was disorganized. It seemed as if she was forced to teach this class. Also she basically called us dumb at the beginning. There's a common denominator to the problem & it's not us.
Dr. Njoroge is really passionate about this subject matter and does an excellent job teaching it. Compared to other classes I have taken with her, she teaches this one the best. She is organized, explains the material well, and available for questions. She does have a weird sleep schedule, so you will get emails from her at 2am quite often.
We were very disrespected as students in this class. It was obvious she was unprepared for the semester and didn't want to be there. She made everything extra difficult by nitpicking small details that professors normally wouldn't care about. She called us dumb almost as soon as the class started. She deters students from taking marketing.
Her exams are very unclear and there is little to no guidance on what to study. She is not timely on returning grades. Seems unorganzied and not prepared to teach class most of the time. She barely responds to emails and has "office hours" but when you go there, she's either busy or not in there.
Dr. Njoroge is very passionate about this course and the content it covers. Everything is outlined in the syllabus and if there are changes she mentions this several times in class and updates the calendar in Blackboard. I feel as if I learned a lot and the final project helped reinforce what we learned in the lectures.
This was Dr. Njoroge's first semester teaching this course and it showed in some cases. The timeline was disorganized and the posting of material was often delayed. A general dislike of the course and class was obvious from the start which made the environment less than desirable. The final project wasn't needed and did little to reinforce content.
The assignments and lectures are somewhat unorganized. It is difficult to know what material will be on the exams due to the unstructured lectures. Also, the assignments appear to be unrelated to the material learned from the textbook. The professor has good intentions and has extra credit at the end of the semester to help boost your grade.
She is very intelligent in her subjects, needs to work on more relaxed communication skills.
Very disrespectful professor towards students. Always had something to nag about every class. You never really know your grade until the semester is over and she never gives feedback on your assignment grades to know how you can do better. No feedback on final project. Nitpicks about everything. Calls students illiterate and does not care for us
Absolutely hated this class. Joroge is completely disrespectful toward me every time I email her. She never responds to me and if she does, she makes me feel dumb for asking any kind of question about our work. AVOID HER. Way too much of a workload for a basic marketing class, too. I had an A at midterms but this class gives me depression
Shes a great professor as far as lecture goes, probably the best Ive had. However she is very particular about certain things. An example is you have to write your last name first or youll lose a letter grade.
Unprofessional and always unorganized. She does that absolute most. For example, if you dont include the fall 2020 she wont respond or if you dont sign your name at the end of the email. Her assignments are very unclear and she grades very weirdly. I will not be taken her again. The material isnt hard she just makes the class more difficult.
I graduated high school 3 years early with a 4+ GPA, so when I say this is the worst teacher I have ever had, I mean it; this isn't me whining because it was hard. She never responded to emails, (or took days) changed the class to online last minute, and when I needed help due to a technical issue w/ SCHOOL hardware? I got a 0. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Do not take if you are a non-traditional student in an online-only setting! She does not convey all information in other materials or record her lectures. You are expected to go to a lecture at a random time the rest of the students select. If it doesnt work for you, too bad. You will miss out on information for quizzes.
Dr. Njoroge is very particular, about everything. Expect to take a lot of notes.
She was always unclear on directions and did not show concern/care for students and their questions.
I wish I could write more on here to explain just how bad and unorganized Dr. Njoroge and this class are. Her instructions were unclear on several assignments, which forced me to email her multiple times throughout the semester. She would then take days to respond and sometimes wouldn't even respond at all to me. Long story short: TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
Disorganized, rude, and unwilling to help professor in my years of being in college. She doesn't grade anything at all and waits till the end of the semester to give you an inaccurate evaluation of all the tedious work and instructions she makes you do weekly. She makes everything difficult for no reason. Do not recommend Avoid her its a nightmare.
Lectures are great and she puts terms into a way of simple understanding. You have to show up to class and you must have your required textbook to do well within the course. Workload is not overwhelming but exams are difficult so studying is a must in order to score high, she offers a lot of extra credit opportunities.
The professor is not bad but all the class is is lectures and exams as well as a big project. If that's not something you are into I would not take. All in all not an awful experience.
She is way better than I could've ever imagined. She does everything she can to make sure we understand the content and show why it is important to learn the material. Group project is... interesting. Be prepared for lockdown browser for online testing. Average day-to-day in class is great though!!
Dr. Njoroge isn't near as bad as some of these reviews claim. Things may seem a little unorganized; however, Dr. Njoroge is very understanding. She owns up to her mistakes and wants everyone to have opportunities to receive a good grade. Don't get me wrong, you still have to put in the work for her classes. I am glad I have her as a professor.
Dr. Njoroge is a great teacher if you do what's asked. If you don't understand material, go to her office/ email to ask for help. I read ratings before I took her class and was scared but quickly realized they were over exaggerated. If you want an easy A, avoid the class. But if you want to actually learn the content, definitely take the course.
Get the textbook fast. You will need to make sure to read the chapters as well as review lecture notes. A lot of the tests you take will contain information from the book that wasn't fully covered during lecture so you'll want to make sure you review that information. Otherwise, tests are smooth sailing. Just read the book and review lecture notes.
Extremely knowledgeable professor, very fun course to take in person! You're graded on attendance, exams, and a group project. Exams went by the textbook, and she would give hints about them in class. The group project required creativity, and though the expectations were unclear at times, it was graded fairly. Tons of extra credit opportunities.
dr. njoroge is a really cool person! if you follow her directions and give her respect and attention during lectures you will do just fine. she sees her students as humans, not money makers. this is the only class that i actually learned something from.
The worst professor I've encountered during my MBA endeavors. Her Bb is disorganized, she has unclear expectations, no rubrics, requires hours of busy work, is annoyingly nit-picky, and she's demeaning in her interactions with her students. Only plus: she offers extra credit opportunities. I am a 4.0 student. Dropped her in the 3rd week. Avoid her.
The absolute worst professor Ive ever had. Extremely rude, no communication. Wants you to fail the class. Avoid at all cost. She should be fired and never allowed to teach again.
