This guy has a big heart, he wants to help students, but he does not know to teach.You can't pay attention when he talks in class. I think he is a good marker though.

Definetly knows the material well. Is clear and consice when explaining. Is also willing to stop and explain further which was a plus. On the negative side, gets a little too involved intelling stories, but not over the top like some others. Definetly would recomend. On his way to becoming a great teacher.

Best teacher teacher ever , when you say he doesnt know how to teach , thinhk twice , i ve seen teachers over there , believe me , they are not that clear!!! when you say youcant attention in class , then engineering is not for you cause seriously they no other simple way to present the material , i would definitly recommend it

This Professor is amazing! If you are taking ENGR 391 i highly recommend you take it with him, he knows his stuff and he is very very helpful. He's the type that if you study for his class you will get the grade!

His lectures are clear and interesting. He makes programming an integral part of the course, and provides ample demonstrations. He doesn't cover the material in as much depth as some professors of the course, but what he does cover, he presents extremely well, and clearly. You can trust him when he says something will or won't be on a test/exam.

Very good teacher!!! had him for other classes too and the way he teaches is VERY organized. He teaches with clarity, answers all questions, he's sarcastic, and funny. If you have a chance to take him, TAKE HIM because you wont regret it.

His notes are great but the answers to his examples are done in class. Helped a lot and the course was interesting.

Well he is a very good only teacher, his lectures are very clear and to the point. He doesnt seem to care about his students as much as he should be, he is very strict and doesnt allow anyone to come late for his class no matter wat. he seems to be very understanding but his actions state otherwise. his Marking and his exams are very harsh.stay awa

Very good teacher. Strict and serious, but that is what makes you work hard. Do not come late. Harsh on grading. Great experience.

He is helpful if you ask him, but don't be fooled if his classes seem too easy, you might be surprised,and it will be unpleasant one.

Dr. Lyes Kadem is the best teacher ive ever had in my life, he takes you from T world to S word by using laplace transformation, nothing change....just he makes everything clear and easy to understand...Thank you Doctor.

Def the best prof i have had at Concordia. Had him for thermo 1 and 2 and his way of teaching is amazing. I still remember what he taught us. Demands respect, easy marker if you know your stuff. Does not forgive if you get units wrong but if you are in engineering then you shouldnt be getting your units wrong.

Best teacher at Concordia hands down. Very clear in his lectures. Gets his point across using a variety of anecdotes, videos, and insightful examples. He goes through the theory like if he were telling you a story. Incredible man, even better teacher.

I can see why people like him; he's down to earth, friendly and eloquent. But I think he's kinda full of himself. He clearly states the previous year averages are around 50-60% and he doesnt curve. Which is fine because its up to the teacher. But maybe the average is so low because he purposely takes the trickiest questions to ask in exams...

Best thermo teacher ever, but hardest at the same time! He is the best teacher but his sections always end up with the lowest marks, while other sections who have not very good teachers end up with better grades.

Trust the previous ratings. This guy is one of the best profs. you'll come about. Quite frankly willing to help you in any way he can, and the easiest possible for you to understand.

He really tries to actually teach how problems would be solved in real life instead of just being able to do textbook problems. Lectures are never boring however you can't be a passive learner and think just showing up is enough. Do all the assigned problems and more. Final has couple of "basic" questions, then ones that really test knowledge.

Dr. Kadem taught me Thermo I & II as well as Numerical Methods, and he rocked at it. Pure and simple. Outgoing, with a good balance of theory and practice, even if Thermo wasn't his prime subject, he was absolutely great at conveying the course material. One of the better teachers I've had at Concordia, by *FAR*.

He explains things well, and is easy to talk to; answers your questions and makes time for you if you need it. He clearly enjoys teaching and doesn't act like it's a chore to have to teach you. Hoping I get him again in the future.

His lectures are motivating and clear, with videos, interesting anecdotes and step-by-step problemsexamples. He's very willing to help anyone with any questions in his office or after class. The class itself was rather easy, mostly being introductory material. Very fair tests and quizzes, covering assigned problems.

Best professor I've had at Concordia thus far.

Amazing teacher. Sadly his midterm was only an hour long for some reason, and walked away with much lower than the rest of the class did. Everything was clear and he wanted to make sure everyone understood.

Dr. Kadem is truly one of the best profs in the department. He shows great interest in the material he teaches, and his lectures are enthusiastic and interesting to listen to. Best university prof to date, you can really tell he loves teaching and is passionate about the material. Course is moderate level of difficulty, but he is very good with the material so it is easier to understand.

One of the best professors I have ever had. I'm in Civil Engineering and had him for ENGR 251, and I got an A in his class. He explains very well, and is easy to approach in class or during his office hours. Exams were fair, especially if you listened to him during his lectures and took notes.

One of my best experiences learning a not so easy subject. Stay up to date with homework on a weekly basis and you'll be fine.

He is the best prof I've ever had. Funny, approachable, fair grader. Lectures are very interesting. Material is very clear. He gives you only what is necessary to succeed in this class with practical, real life examples. At the end of the last lecture he got big applause from students. I wish all the profs had the same approach toward teaching.

Gives fair exams. "Other professors think if they give hard exams that makes them appear smarter. I think that if you failed half your students, you can't teach". Interesting lectures. Looks out for the best interest of the student. Very helpful in office hours. One of the best professors. Will recycle questions.

The best one out of all the other thermodynamics professors. Definitely recommended! Very well written/explained notes. Study his notes and practice all the tutorial problems and everything will seem very straightforward. Also showing up to class is interesting. All in all, he's the one to go for.

Best prof in Concordia

By far the best prof I have ever had in my life. Explains things extremely well with lots of creative analogies, he's very funny and prepared us well for the final.

THE best prof I've had at Concordia so far. Since he is passionate about the subject his lectures are v intrestin. Midterms & quizzes are easy but you still need to practice a lot of problems to do good on the final (which I found really hard; apparently he didn't make it). Only if all the profs were like him I'd be super excited to go to my 9am's

The best one! Although its not an easy course but it will seem very straightforward as his notes and lectures provide all the details and information needed to know. Do all of his problems pack theyre good practice. Quizzes were a joke, midterm was easy and final was fair. He knows all the tricks to get you prepared. Recommended.

this prof is one of the best profs at Concordia! for this semester not only did he teach live lectures but also had pre-recorded ones on youtube. Also he made a summary video, summarizing the final material before our final. This man really cares. He always teaches by making multiple analogies or example incase you didn't get it the first time

He really cares about teaching and he made a lot of effort for the students. He had well organized pre-recorded YouTube videos, course notes and zoom meetings to make sure you understand the concepts. The final exam was very fair and hard to fail if you studied. He is an understanding and great person overall. Don't even hesitate to take him.

Likely Concordia's best teacher. Never have I had a teacher who actually values his student's understanding of their class this much. Complete the problem pack on his website (10ish problems/week) for an easy A. His pre-recorded tutorials and lectures on youtube are amazing and this should be the standard for education in the age of the internet.

This man can coordinate a whole class too fit the students needs, I have yet to see a more caring prof. almost everyone who takes thermodynamics with him ends up as their fav class. He cares that students learn the theory of thermodynamics answers all questions and is a very fair examiner and grader, he is also bringing a new 400s class to concordi

He is amazing! Makes us listen to video on related topics, is passionnate, explains well, does in-class experiments... I had him for both thermo 1 (in person) and thermo 2 (online) and he was really good for both courses. He even took some of his time to help students with questions on other stuff like USRA and graduate studies. Kadem is the best!

He is one of the better professor in the department. He brings a lot of extra application videos to make the class interesting. He gives a lot of extra advise for making portfolio, capstones etc. I would recommend to take at least one class with him, before taking your 400 level classes.

He makes live lectures, then after his working hours he works on making professional videos with the same content he explained in class and posts them on youtube. He is one of the best profs I've seen in concordia.

took ENGR 351 with him, and it was a breeze. lectures are divided between subjects and he cares about your grade. he is flexible with the grading system.

This teacher is amazing. I had him in thermodynamics even though this course is not in my program, almost made me want to change programs for him. He cares deeply about his students' success and answers all questions. Is available for office hours whether in person or online. I honestly do not believe there is a better teacher in the entire uni.

It's only been a week but I am in love. Lyes is the best prof I've had hands down. His youtube videos are amazing. I love his well organized website. Lectures are interesting. His classes should be the gold standard for what teaching should look like in a post-secondary institution. Amazing!

Honestly, one of the best teachers at Concordia. I wish I could have him for all my classes. He knows his material really well and is able to transmit it very effectively. His exams are basically problems taken from the problem sets he gives at the beginning of the semester. Some top quality lectures are even posted on his yt. *chef's kiss*

The reviews don't lie, he's a very good prof. He's engaging, respectful, and gives a lot of effort. He takes every student request seriously. He tries to make his course as easy as possible, even midterm and final. While he may show interesting content in the lecture like videos, sometimes they take time and there is not enough time to do examples.

As a Software Engineering student, I wasn't sure if I should take this class as my "basic science" especially that I am not a fan of physics, but I thought it was worth it with him and it was truly a great experience. Top 3 best professors for me. I definitely recommend to attend his classes. Solve all the recommended problems & you will be ready!

One word to describe him, FANTASTIC! Best teacher i've ever seen in Concordia. He wants everyone to do well in his class and also he is available for any questions. He is super nice, easy to talk with and I would even say 5/5 isn't enough lol, you cannot fail his class because if you do, it's a 100% your fault... his midterms are super easy!

I took this course in winter 2024. His lectures are amazing and his exams very doable if you attend the lectures. The lab is difficult, on the other hand, but there is a project that is worth 60% of the lab that can enable you to pass this part. Other than that, the course itself is enjoyable and this teacher exceptionnally good and passionnate.

I hated thermo but he made the classes interesting and engaging. His enthusiasm is so contagious that I wanted to study more for the class

The course itself wasn't too hard but he made it so much better. Great lectures. He notes are very helpful too and for some of the chapters you have prerecorded videos if ever you miss the lectures

The lectures are engaging and the concept is explained in a very great detail. He cares about his students, both in class and during office hours.Always replies to emails instantly. He takes the time to review the midterm test in office hours in case the student is not satisfied with his/her grade.He curves the final exam as always.

Dr. Kadem keeps the class simple yet teaches the material with skill and passion. He makes you appreciate what you're learning and gives you fairly-graded projects to help you apply what you've learned. He is accessible outside of class and his exams are extremely fair. Only downside is that his problem pack solutions are incorrect sometimes.

He's really one of the best I've ever had. He finishes material early to the point where he just reviews for the last two weeks. He tells you what's important to remember or know. His notes are really easy to follow so you can just listen to him talk. Just do his homework questions and you will get an amazing grade.
