He looks like Mr. Rogers and talks about random stuff. Make sure to read the book. He grades peculiarly.
The class is interesting, but is mostly stories. The key is to listen to his stories!! They are the most important part of doing well on his tests. Plus, he curves the tests like CRAZY, it's great!! A 22/60 on our last test was the lowest possible D!
I had Dr. A in 1997. He was a very difficult teacher, but I some how managed to get an A in his class. The best thing about him, was he wanted to see success. He even sent me a letter home during the summer congratulating me on my hard work and the A.
realy good
Aubrecht is the greatest psych prof ever!! I love going to his class every morning, considering that it starts at 9 am!! He always has a story to go along w/ what he's teaching which gives you a chance to fully understand the material!!!
Greatest professor I have ever had. His classes are hard, but he is so helpful and loves teaching.
Great teacher, definitely will curve grades. He loves to tell stories, and get you excited about hearing them. He however is not an easy teacher you do have to read and pay attention, but he is great!
this man is what college professors should be: well-traveled, very experienced, highly intelligent, and passionate about his academic discipline. i cannot say enough praise for him. he challenges you to be your best.
I had Dr.A for 2 classes and requested him for my advisor. However, when I went to him for help, he didn't know/remember my name. He also did not respond promptly to emails and I eventually requested a different advisor. Very unprofessional.
very good teacher!!!
Good teacher but not one to take for ease.
Spend too much time telling stories and not enough time on the main importance of psychology. The test is mostly info from the book, not much on his lectures. He exaggerate too much about bringing a recorder to class.
Awesome. He's not too good with remembering faces and names but he's still a good professor. Class was really interesting. Read the book & notes. Read the captions and side-stuff in the book. Some of that is on the tests too. Easy A if you study har
HORRIBLE..IF YOU'RE IN HIS CLASS...DROP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. I REGRET NOT DROPPING WHEN MY SENSE TOLD ME IN THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. OLD MAN BS TOO MUCH!!!
Read the text! It helps so much to emphasize everything he talks about in class. Also, take notes when he tells stories, he uses the stories on his test for application. I got an A. It's possible.
word of advice..GET WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!
great teacher. the man has been around the block. works with students answers to give maximum credit. will not offer help, but will wholeheartedly give it.
A wonderful teacher, storyteller, and researcher. The man may be a hard teacher, but it's really his stories that made all the information make sense. He's real quirky and odd too, but who said that was necessarily a bad thing?
He is probably the worst professor I have ever had. He can't teach and don't care much if you learn or not. He's one of those professor that teach for a paycheck. I recommend you to drop the class while you still can or your GPA will drop.
He need to retire or else take a course on how to teach psychology.Drop before you regret. His test questions are long. Each question is like a freakin paragraph and the answer choices are similar to one another and very confusing. NOT GOOD!!
I think Dr. Aubrecht is one of the most interesting teachers I have ever had. If you don't like him or his class, it is because you aren't really that interested.
Best professor I've ever had.
I thought he was a wonderful teacher, it was hard but interesting!
Ok, this is an advanced level class, but he believes you come in there with a tabla rosa (blank slate) just say something from another class and you will impress him, His grading system sucks, and if he feels you deserve a C thats what you get! avoidddddddd
The class was definitley very interesting, and he's a great teacher! However, the class is hard so you really do have to work for a good grade. He doesn't have a textbook for the class, so do use a tape recorder, and take down really detailed notes. Trust me it'll help you in the end!
I absolutly loved this class. He kept my interest nearly everyday while I was in there. His questions seem hard but if you understand the material, you will pass. He doesn't expect you to remeber every little detail. Enjoy his class.
Very interesting class, love his stories.
I took his class and found it to be the most interesting class I ever took in college. I've now graduated and he sticks out in my mind as the best professor I had. His class is hard, I found myself studying a few hours every night, but I learned so much. You'll never forget this class!
Best Professor at Meredith! Difficult course, but well worth the effort!
Brilliant professor. Straight to the point. If you get your feeling hurt easy, he is not the one for you. The class is the BEST class I have taken & he is one of my favorite professors. The material is all comprehension of somewhat complex stuff & no memorization. If you do your work and study you will do fine. Hard class but great.
One of the best teachers. He is kind of hard, but well worth it! :o)

I had this class with him years ago and I still remember so much from it - he is an amazing teacher, and while he has high standards, he really commends those who work hard and do well in his class. So it's a rewarding experience all around.

He's a great teacher though he can be tedious and irritating at times. i learned the most from his classes by far! he's my advisor too and he hasn't ever advised me on anything, but i'll let that slide...i'm graduating soon so i must have done ok without him...
He's caring and helpful to interested students. I didn't think his class was that difficult, but I also felt very proud when I did well on his tests. He made sure I knew that he was proud too. Truely an amazing man.
I took some of my psych classes when I did simply to get him as a professor. He is by far one of my favorites and I'm rating him simply because I so greatly disagree with the negative comments. I think Meredthi is lucky to have him.
He is hard but gets you to understand the information.

a rather interesting professor- talks a bit over his time limit- but he is full of knowledge and interesting facts/stories.
I really was impressed with myself for getting through his class with flying colors. He was very difficult but you felt so good when you did well. He was very in depth with his lectures and had high expectations for students, the people who did not dedicate themselves to his classes are the only ones that dont like him, those people probably failed.
He is the best professor I've ever had. He is extremely knowledgable, challenging, kind, and truly cares about his students. He makes you feel proud to be a Meredith student and motivates you to do your best.
Dr. AUbrecht is hard, but you will learn in his class. He is also a really tought advisor, but he cares about the studesnts he teaches and advises, and that makes him a great professor.
Dr. Aubrecht is really nice but can sometime call you out if youre not paying attention (although he lets people who are planning on not paying attention sit in the back). He made the class really easy and curved his tests a lot. You have to get used to him though, because sometimes it seems as if he is in a different world.
This man is a HORRIBLE professor! He is 5-20 minutes late to class, on average, EVERY SINGLE CLASS PERIOD! He rambles, goes on tangents ALL of the time, and is not the best at conveying the material in lecture form. He seems like he knows the information well, he just can't teach the material.
Offers incredible insight and can always explain concepts in ways that allow you to apply them to real life. He is one of the few psychology people I have met over the course of my life who is able to read the human psyche in an unbiased manner. His lectures are enlightening. Very erudite professor.
After doing horrible on my first test he asked me to stop by his office. He pretty much tryed to be my psychologist which was not helpful. his test are very hard and not easliy read. i didnt enjoy his class at all.
He's a nice guy, but the class lacks structure. He pretends like he is really hard but on tests and quizzes he expects you to know things that he hasn't exactly told you in class. If you are an auditory learner you'll do fine, but unless you NEED this class, don't take it's not enjoyable.
horrible teacher. no book, no structure. all of this tests and quizes deal with material you NEVER learned in class. This was by far the WORSE class i have ever taken my whole college career. Never again will i take a class from Dr. Aubrect
He is not only a good teacher, he is a great person. He is willing to help you at anytime and wants to. He knows a lot and has a lot to teach. He teaches with an open mind and is always open to listening to others.
Dr. A is a really great, engaging teacher whose lectures are always interesting. I'm not a morning person at all, but I could handle his class at 9 MWF without falling asleep. He has a very adult attendance policy and will hold a conference with you if you are at risk of having a letter grade drop bc of it. Study hard if you want to do well!!
He is a great professor if you like psychology. You have to go to class though and he tells you that from day one. Have of the test material will be from stuff he says in class that is not in the book. I recommend getting a tape recorder.
I respected Dr. Aubrecht as a person, and really liked his attendance policy (can miss like 8 classes, and will notify you if you are at risk). His lectures were always intersting, but the class overall was very difficult. If you only spend an hour studying for an exam, you will pretty much bomb it-you can't be slack in this class.
Hes a really good teacher, just write whatever it is he has on the board down and what he says over and over again. and u really do need to read the book unfortunately and he gives A LOT of extra credit!! so DO IT!!! up to 15 pts on your FINAL grade!
He wasnt a very good teacher to all of his students he has his favorites and if you are not one of them he tends to ignore you. Just a word to the wise dont sit in the back of the class he will make sure that you know how he feels about those who sit in the back.
He's a wonderful guy and he was very helpful, if you care about his class and you show that you care, he will help you succeed.
I like Dr. Aubrecht. He is really nice. However, he DOES choose favorites and I know I am not one of them. I have sat in the second row the whole semester and he still has to ask my name every time he calls on me and there aren't even 20 people in the class...There is a lot of book use because what he goes over in class is not in the book.
Can make students feel stupid
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Aubrecht's class. He is creative and there is no doubt that his classes are not for the faint-hearted. But are you hear to learn or simply pass a class?
Dr. Aubrecht's class can be interesting and you can definitely learn a lot. Just remember to get a seat in the front or towards the front of the class so that you can be more involved. If you keep up with the reading and listen, this could be an easy A or B for you.
Dr. A is pretty incompetent and boring. He doesn't show interest in his students or their grades at all
Dr. Aubrecht is a good professor, but a lot of people don't like how many stories he tells. His stories are examples that go along with the material, though, so I find them very helpful.
He is a really bad teacher. He has dumb stories and he always wants you to talk to him after class and never wants to talk about anything in class....he is always late and he is probably the worst teacher that I have had at Meredith College.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He goes by what he believes, and not what the book says. He tries to psychologically analyze you every time you go to him for help (which is useless). His notes in class are not helpful, and his tests are ridiculous. This is the first class I failed at Meredith College, and it is by far the worst.
He's one of those teachers you either love or hate. He was extremely helpful to me and was understanding when I had stuff going on in my personal life. His PSY-100 was a piece of cake but he does tell stories often. That helps me visualize rather than memorize but some people hate it. He gets distracted easily but he's a very kind person.
I had him for PSY 100, 312, 330. Still doesn't know my name. In his lower classes he's easy, but 330 is hell. He is obnoxious, and cannot go through 15 minutes without talking about himself. He bores me. He uses the word retarded and he teaches a class about Exceptional Individuals.
He is absolutely terrible. He is unclear and very unhelpful. He doesn't teach the material, he teaches what he believes. The students are never prepared for tests and he wastes time in class to ramble about himself.
Dr. A is a very nice man who should go ahead and retire. He repeats himself so much that I often felt like walking out. Although real-world examples are a good idea, egocentric story-telling is not. Also, he seems incapable of narrowing his scope of the material. when he writes a study guide, it is just a copy of each chapter.
Lyn Aubrecht is responsible for getting me interested in psychology. Prior to taking my first course with him, I intended to major in an entirely different subject. He was my major advisor during my years at Meredith, and I got to know him very well. One of the nicest people you could ever meet and quite brilliant.
Dr. A is one of the nicest and smartest people I have ever met. His class is very hard and is strictly a lecture class with no powerpoints or anything but I learned so much! His tests are difficult but if you attend class and read the readings, you'll do fine! He is super helpful if you need it and really a nice guy.
Dr. A is a great teacher. His classes are hard but well worth it. He does teach differently and requires some patience (he's older and struggles with memory and names) but if you relax and adapt you will learn more in his classes than any other. An A is hard to earn in his class but when you do, you know you REALLY earned it.
Dr. A was such a great and understanding instructor. He's hard, but fair. If you pay attention in class, take notes and study for his classes and tests you will have no problem at all. His animal behavior class is great!
I really respect Dr. Aubrecht. He is very knowledgeable man who shows great interest in his field of study. He is difficult, and you have to keep up with the material. He will always be there if you need help, and he genuinely cares about his students. He may make you feel like you are not smart, but he only wants you to do well.
Dr. A is an amazing teacher at Meredith students seem to either Hate the way he teachers and dislike him or absolutely love the way he teaches and adore him ! In my case I adore Dr.A is wasn't easy but he made the class very easy to pay attention .He is also very helpful I suggest you get to know him because if you reach out to him he will notice
Dr. A is hands down my favorite professor at Meredith. He is intelligent, brilliant, and will go out of his way to help you in any way he can as long as you make an effort too. I have already taken two courses with him and received A's in both. I have just started my 3rd. Those who believe he is hard never gave him a chance to begin with. LOVE DR A
Dr. A is awesome and extremely intelligent. His stories he tells are 10 times more interesting than anything in the book, and make it way easier to learn. His tests do include things from only lectures so you do have to go to class. Dr. A is a sweet man and although he doesn't have the best memory, I would definitely take another one of his classes
What ever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. He grades based on opinion and does not give you your tests quizzes back to keep so you can't tell if he is grading you the same as everyone else. He tries his best to make everything about the class as difficult as possible. No structure no book. His changing opinion
Dr. A is a kind and passionate man. He has so much experience in psychology he is able to provide you with the best examples that help you understand. You do have to read and attend class, but extra credit will save you so take advantage of it. Pay attention when he goes over the chapters in the book!
Did not enjoy this class at all. Lots of off topic lecturing, and there is nothing clear being taught. Wanted to major in psych, and this class drained me to the point where I switched majors!
I love Dr. A! He always came to class with such a great attitude. Although his lectures are long and talkative, it makes it better that he includes personal stories. He gives you countless extra credit opportunities and is fair when he grades. Make sure you read your book and take good notes. Its 50/50 each on tests.
He always came to class with such a great attitude. Although his lectures are long and talkative, it makes it better that he includes personal stories. He gives you countless extra credit opportunities and is very fair and lenient when he grades. Make sure you read your book and take good notes. Its 50/50 each on tests. LOVE DR. A!!
Dr.A is a great teacher if you're interested in Psychology! I loved his class and studied hard everyday, at least an hour. He cares about all of his students, you just need to ask for help.
Dr. Aubrecht is extremely nice and does his best to help you. I personally didn't enjoy this class, I felt like his lectures were too long. He also told too many stories.
Dr. Aubrecht is a great professor. I loved his class so much because the material itself was interesting AND he tells quirky stories that make the class enjoyable. Most of the people I found who didn't like the class were ones who didn't show up or didn't study for the tests. He often curves. His office hours are a great help, and you should visit.
Dr. A is very knowledgeable about psychology but does not take into consideration that the way he teaches, is maybe not the way that most students are used to and/or want to be taught. He is nice and offers extra credit, tests are 50/50 lecture and textbook. Its not terribly difficult, but get used to stories and a different style of teaching
He expects you to read the book outside of class and lectures are not always based on what's in the book. Tests are based on book information and lectures. He's caring and available outside of class, but you have to put in your share of effort to get a good grade.
It's not that he "tells a lot of stories" it's that his entire class is stories that are only about 50% relevant. Test questions are majority text based but a few are based on stuff he throws out in class between stories. The class requires a bit more effort on your part and isn't EXTREMELY hard unless you're an auditory learner like me.
The best! Loved all his classes.
I think he is an adorable old man! However, his teaching was not what I expected. Tests were hard because it was based on what HE believed rather than psychology in general. For example, the first question in exam one was, "What does your professor believe the definition of psychology is?" He takes up the whole lecture time to tell stories!
Aubrect is a nice guy, but he tends to tell a lot stories that take up most of class. theres better psych professors at Meredith, i recommend taking them. he has a weird grading system but it came out to my advantage. I ended up making an A but i had two psych classes in high school which i think helped. you have to do much learning youself.
Dr. A truly cares about his students and WANTS them to succeed-- truly succeed, not just do well on the test. He pushes us in ways I never thought I'd be pushed. He is a genuine guy that loves what he does. His class is also one of the toughest classes I have ever taken, but with his support I knew I would do well. Ask him for help!!!
Best teacher ever! I love Dr. A he is the best professor at Meredith. Some people don't like his grading style but I think he makes it really helpful. He really wants his students to succeed and is very helpful during office hours. Anyone interested in Psych should take this class!!! Dr. A is the nicest man ever.
Aubrecht is the kindest and sweetest man I know. Beyond that, he is a very tough professor. His tests are 50/50 lecture and textbook. Questions on lectures are like "Your professor thinks which is the most..." Extremely DIFFICULT!!!! I wish that he would be more upfront about the material covered on his exams. I had mental breakdowns abt this class
Dr. A was tough, but you can tell he really cares about his students! He will give you the information, but you have to work for your grade. His neuro class is by far the most difficult class I've had in college, but I think it was worth it!
