Great teacher, really knows her stuff...trys to come off as intimidating but is really very nice and understanding. Bio 181 was easier for me then 182 but both were very do-able. Santiago is more of an animal person and Quick is more plants, so choose to your interests

Best teacher I've ever had. A wonderful friend and a good person to have in your corner. Don't listen to other peoples "bad" experiences. If you're at school to learn, she is the best teacher.

Knows a lot about biology and actually teaches you the concepts, so you have to understand not memorize the text. You have to put a lot of time into studying before and after lectures, and befor tests. Tests/quizes are very fair but if you didn't study you won't be happy. Very good teacher but you get what you earn, either love her or hate her.

Though the class was difficult, I feel that I really learned alot from the class. She can be abrasive at times, but she really does have a passion for the subject that is contagious. Some will love her, others will despise her

Her favoritism is lighthearted. very straighforward,doesnt like to repeat herself,do favors,do not approach her desk,or try to have discussion with her abt something important w/out making appointment 1st. Easily offended,very funny,passionate and well educated teacher,if you can handle her personality and take class seriously, will succeed.

she was by far one of the best professors i've ever had. she knows how to keep her class interesting she does try to come off as intimmidating and if you dont prove to her that you deserve to be there she may be biast toward you. but if you do your stuff and go to class you wont have a problem.by her first impression you wouldnt think she cared about you but if you level with her she has alot of really good advice and she'll help you out even when it comes to issues outside of school.

What is up with all these negative comments on Doc.? She is an awesome professor and an awesome person! I am sure most of you are just not willing to work hard and expect things handed to you! She is extremely knowledgably, helpful, and wants respect. Awesome professor! Wish I could take more classes with her!

This is a great teacher with lots of knowledge of subject. Do the work, show up and be respectful in class and you will have no problems. I would take another class from her...Can't figure the previous comments, must not have done work...

SMART!SHE KNOWS HER STUFF.She lectures most of the time and backs it up with power-point so you MUST take notes.She uses the book as backup to study for exams.exams are a little tricky but if you pay attention and study youll pass.lab is str8 forward daily quizes..just study!take her class if you are serious. good luck!!

Dr. Santiago is very intelligent. She knows Biology extremelly well. She is very professional and will guide you to the grade YOU WANT during her class. If you intent to take this class to better yourself because you have a goal and you need bio to achieve it (e.g medical school) then take it. If you just want a C, dont take it bcuz youll get an F

DR SANTIAGO IS AS SMART AS THEY COME. SHES A TOUGH NEW YORKER, MIGHT INTIMIDATE SOME BUT SHES FUNNY AND HELPFUL. LECTURES ARE STRAIGHT FORWARD AND SO ARE THE EXAMS. This teacher was such an inspiration. In this class, I learned that it is possible to get a good grade if you give it 100%! She's very tough and makes you do your work, but she teaches very well and you'll feel very accomplished if you do well

The thing that I did not like about here class was the fact that she ran the class as we were inhigh school. You could not chew gum, had to raise ur han to answer a question (which I know is proper edicate but how many people do that anymore),had to get permission talk to her at her desk, did not care what you reason was if yo had to miss a class.

She is very difficult but an awesome teacher. If you aren't 100% committed you might as well drop the first day. Exams are very hard. Pretty much have to know the whole text book. Not really any extra credit so don't depend on that. She is no BS so good luck!!!

She is the best. She knows all the material really well and likes teaching it. Also she tells great stories. She is the best and smartest bio and marine bio professor I have encountered, including U of A. The rules are only there for everyones safety, just follow them and you'll be fine. Go to class, pay attention and have fun.

I thought Doc was fantastic. She is a funny, intelligent teacher who is passionate about her science and I thought she taught well. She can be mildly abrasive and yes she prefers some students over others (which prof doesnt?) but if you cant handle a little jousting you probably shouldnt be in college. Suck it up, there are worse things.

Im taking her class right now and disagree fully with the negative comments. If you are pre-med student or are serious about your education there isn't a better teacher around. Those who think she is intimidating/mean clearly have no sense of humor. Yes she is hard, if you put in the time youll be fine. She is a great proffesor no doubt

Doc is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her class is interesting, fun and you learn a lot but it does not feel like you are in class. She is funny and witty and likes to joke around. She is extremely helpful in and out of class. She spent over an hour with me one day trying to help me find dolphin programs. She is awesome!

Lynda was amazing, a little difficult as far as teachers go, but very dedicated to making sure her students understand the material and go on to make great successes later in their scholastic career. If you are willing to put in the effort she will give you more than the education you need to succeed.

For those of you that "hate her" she's not a kindergarten teacher!it's not all rainbows and unicorns in her class but she's an awesome teacher.She tells u EXACTLY how she wants things,EXACTLY what to study&EXACTLY what u need to pass the class.She's straight up, so if you can't handle that don't take her class.Wish I had more teachers like her!

I love her, she come's off as mean to those that are sensitive but she's just playing around. She's funny and knows what she's talking about. Unlike most professors who treat you like you're still in high school, She expects you to act like you're in college because you are.

Santiago is a tough teacher, but she just wants things her way or the highway! Lots of memorization. She teaches at a high skill level. Definitely a good thing if you major is BIO. Make sure you show up, pay attention, and look over the powerpoints, your notes, and DEFINITELY THE TEXTBOOK! You must read the textbook thoroughly to get a good grade!!

She tells you exactly what she expects of you and comes off as being very strict. In reality she is funny, very smart, has great stories, and is understanding if you speak to her in the times she deems appropriate. Loved this class. Test were not easy but I would not say they were hard.

I thought her class was tough but if you do the leg work then an A isn't unreasonable. The first day of class scared me but she is a fun professor. Everyone complaining about how strict she was is off base. Be respectful and you'll get along fine.

Wonderful professor who really knows her stuff, and wants to share that knowledge. The class is tough, but she walks you through things and helps you learn them in a way that makes studying and understanding the material a no brainer. Strict rules, but for good reasons. If the first day scares you, stick with it, it's more than worth it.

While she comes off as strict in her syllabus and on the first day of class, Dr. Santiago is a very funny, reasonable woman with a wealth of knowledge to share. She demands respect and tells you exactly what she wants from you. If you do your work (there is a lot of it, although it isn't hard) and respect her, you will have an amazing experience!

had her for 105 and 145. Amazing lady, she's not rude, she's from New York. Smart, helpful, great teacher, passion and sugar and spice and every thing nice. Plus any woman in a lab coat that drives a Porsche 957 is hot.

She was pretty awesome, moody yes, but what teachers aren't these days. Her tests are very easy, so if you're not a good test taker she's your teach.

Dr. Santiago is a great teacher. The first day of class will terrify you, but stick with it. She's strict but her rules really force you to learn the material which is the goal, right? She's a smart, funny lady and an asset to pvcc.

1st impressions aren't great here. 1st day will scare you into leaving, but don't let it. She is an outstanding teacher and a great referrence. Class is hard and you get what you put into it as she explains the first day. Lab quizzes couunt toward overall grade..do good! Not as bad as she makes it seem as long as you put in the time. She is a tough teacher but she DEFINITELY knows the information! She relates all the (confusing) information from the textbook into everyday life. You have to work to keep a good grade, but after her class, every future biology class will be CAKE!

Scary at first, but that changes quickly. She has a great sense of humor. At the same time she is very knowledgeable. Only 3 tests, no final, 1 presentation, and like 4 labs. If you do the work, she gives you full credit. Lots of hw so you do need the book for that. But still, Take her for any science class. You wont regret it!

It is a hard class, If you don't study you will fail,AND IT IS NOT THE TEACHERS FAULT! She is a very smart and admirable woman. Totally like her class, got a C, but I did not study as much as I probably should have. This class isn't meant to be easy. I would not want a healthcare professional to take care of me if they bulshitted thru this class!

Just Finished BIO 182 with Dr. Santiago. She was fabulous. She's tough, knowlegeable, funny and passionate about her teaching. If you make the effort and you need a lot of effort there is no reason you can't get an A in the class. Just work hard! She's got a great sarcastic humor and is willing to work with students who show they care!!

Don't touch her desk and you're good. If she clarifies now-a-days specifically not to touch her lab desk, that's because of me. Overall Doc. Santiago is a great professor, she knows her stuff. As long as you show up and pay attention in lecture, you should be good for the exams.

Dr. Santiago is the best teacher I have ever had. She is fair and doesn’t hold grudges. She does expect you to know the material, but if you study and pay attention the tests have no surprises. She treats each student as an individual. Her lectures are interactive and interesting. I would highly recommend taking her class.

This is a Professor who knows and loves to teach! She is passionate about biology and makes you want to learn! This class and anything she is teaching is a must take! She expects hard work but you will learn and grow so much for it. 100% prepared me for hard science courses!

Took Marine Biology over the summer. As long as you do the work and understand the material and A is easy. Glad to have taken her for all my science.

Doctor Santiago is the best professor I have had to date. Do the work, read the chapters and there is no way you can't pass with a good grade. If you are not interested or do not care, I highly recommend to NOT take her class. She wants her students presents and attentive. Great professor, and amazing human being.

Professor Santiago was one of the best Biology teachers I've had. She's extremely helpful and centers her office hours when they are the most convenient for her students to be able to attend. The worksheets take roughly an hour at most to complete but full of interesting material. Essentially if focused and involved in the class, you'll pass. :)

Had her for a sub and I wished she had been my instructor all semester. Clear, helpful, easy to follow, made it interesting. How many more great things can I say.

Had her for Marine Bio, i would take this again if i could, She was very professional and serious about the topic and educating. She had great information and even greater stories to tell. Was not an easy class but i learned alot from it. (hybrid class)

I had Dr. S for lab only. Textbook not needed for lab, not sure if she requires it in her lecture. Weekly 10 question quizzes, a couple homework labs and a couple in class; easy work load. Often let out of lab early so I suggest having it as your last class of day. Strong personality, strict rules; but if you follow them she's a great professor.

Prof. Santiago was such an amazing Bio teacher. She was very down-to-Earth and made lectures interesting since she makes sure you understand the material rather than read the slides. The homework takes very long, about 5 hours per worksheet, but they're made that way so you understand it all perfectly. Take her if you're serious about science major

Dr. Santiago is very thorough in her lecture and makes sure you understand it. She is available outside of class to and is willing to help no matter what level you have. This class is super hard but she will work with you and tell you what sources you should use to prepare for the test. Her tests are hard, that's why you should do the worksheets!!!

I am a bio major and I recommend her for other Bio majors. Her class is meant for people who want to be there. She is a tough teacher because she wants you to learn and not just memorize material right before test, which I respect. Dr. has been one of the most inspirational teachers I have ever met.

Hybrid- She's tough and expects you to spend 5hrs on a 5 question worksheet. The worksheets help so much for the next class. She's very specific about what she wants and will help if you need it. Get to know her likes and dislikes and your time in her class will be pleasant. Lastly, just do the work and you'll get good grades.

Dr. Santiago is an excellent educator. As someone whose done a bachelor's degree at university and come back to CC for extra classes, I highly recommend taking a class from her. Dr. Santiago is exactly the instructor you need to prepare you for the university experience. She's tough!Expect to spend hours reading your text and doing her worksheets.

Dr. Santiago is a really good professor. she truly cares about her students and just wants to prepared them for the future and to succeed. Don't expect an easy pass, you have to work for your grade but I truly believe that will help in the long run. She's available yo help you succeed if you put in the effort. I would love to take another class.

It's disappointing that everyone gets on here to cry about how hard she was. You're in college, let's start acting like It rather than ripping down a processor because "it was hard". Professor Santiago is a smart women and everyone can learn a lot from her if you stop complaining so much. DO YOUR WORK. it's that simple.
