Great teacher always willing to help you. Offers tons of extra help. All his notes are online tests are kinda hard but he does curve.
Mix of easy and tricky q's on exams (he'll tell you a few of the q's ahead of time). About 10-15 m.c. and 5 free responses on 3 exams. Final's all m.c. Tests on his lecture, not necessarily the book. He wastes half the class reviewing, and he's not good with questions or responding to emails. Fun New Zealander accent though.
His tests are hard but I didn't really mind because he's hot!! He's also always willing to help and talk to the students
He is the best professor for organic! He goes slow so that you can grasp the material. I dropped the class only because I dont need organic for my major which I recently changed but I did take the first test and it was EASY!Not common for an organic class!
Terrible teacher. I'm sure he knows the material but he's terrible at conveying it. He starts to explain something, stammers, then never completes his idea. His notes are disorganized and contain numerous mistakes. Emailing him never results in a response. He does, however, review often for those who struggle with the material.
Best Orgo Professor! His tests are easy if you study the notes that he posts online. Gives alot of extra credit. The only problem is that the final exam is the ACS exam.
Sweet man, awesome NZ accent... tries hard to help everyone grasp the material, patiently answers q's, stays after class, even schedules extra review sessions, gives lots of extra credit... orgo is hard & a lot of work, but he tries his best to guide his students. The only reason I got an A- was the retarded ACS final the Chem Dpt. requires.
Nice guy, gives deserved curvesand tries to do all he can to help. A bit soft spoken and dull so I often found my eyes and ears somewhere else.
Really great teacher for orgoII. Had Dr. Chamely for Orgo I and she was great too. West is MUCH more mellow that she was (this is good). He is very helpful and really wants students to understand Orgo! Tests are hard but fair. Great NZ accent. I think he is a great prof for a difficult subject!
The guy never showed for office hours and was truly a character. Study the book because he just repeats himself for like three lectures before he moves on to new material. Overall, he was easy so I can't complain, but i have absolutely no respect for the guy.
Awesome guy and an awesome lecturer. He'll make time to meet with you and he gives out extra credit during class so class isn't mandatory, but it gives you an incentive to go. This is organic chemistry and it is a very difficult class, so it isn't the lecturer's fault if you do poorly. Study, go to class, and you'll do well in his class.
easy. just go over his power points and make sure you understand everything in his ch summaries and go to class. most of the questions on his test have already been presented in class. and he's hilarious
THIS GUY IS AMAZING! THE BEST TEACHER AT FAU. He is extremely helpful and explains things so well in class you barely need to study. And does EC if you show up to class.
Dr. West is a good chemistry professor, one of very few at FAU. He understands what material is important and focuses on it. granted, it's hard, but Organic Chemistry is hard. At least he has reasonable standards.
He is funny prof, u r not req'd to attend class, he takes several days to cover new slides so if u miss one day ull b fine but even if u attend review days for test he may tell u something won't be on test & it is, u can't just have an understanding of the material, u must know it, very detailed knowledge, drops a bad test grade so this helps
He's a very good teacher. Best thing about him is that his tests are very indicative of the material he covers. The material is difficult but he doesn't make it harder then it has to be. Gives extra credit and often will have a couple problems on the exam that he did in class. Sweet guy. very personable.
Organic is hard, but Dr. West makes it easier to understand. He gives extra credit on random days, so don't miss his class. Not an easy A but doable, just study all his notes, ppts and exam reviews
THE BEST!
EASIEST A TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM! Go to class for extra credit!
Go to class to get extra credit! he is such a nice professor, please RESPECT HIM! study his notes, practice exams and read the book problems, you will be fine.
"Well basically" he's an awesome professor, easy A.
I sucked at Orgo 1 but succeeded quite nicely in organic chem 2. West is not the clearest professor when it comes to teaching granted, sometimes i think he doesn't know what he is doing either but then he moves on its kind of funny. But if you self-study and try on your own its pretty straight forward material. However the FINAL was NO JOKE !
Good teacher, although lectures are slightly boring(non mandatory). Gives extra credit randomly for attending class
Awesome for orgo 2 basically amazing. Nice curve at the end! Just go over notes which he records every lecture. Memorize reactions and you will make an A.
Dr. West is really cool. Very straight forward and tells you what he expects you to know for the exam unlike many other orgo teachers. He gives sufficient amount of time to take the exam unlike other orgo professors (Roche) at fau.
Amazing professor, makes Orgo cake. I had a easier time here than Gen Chem 1 and Intro Chemistry. Exams are a contemplation of similar scenarios of what he does in class plus some copypaste practice problems. Test and Quiz averages raw are between 70-77 usually and there is a nice curve at the end plus lowering cut off expectations for each letter
Best orgo professor you will find.
Class is worlds better than Organic Chem 1. 2 quizzes which are kind of like pre-exams because they are the same length as exams but just half the amount of points. 2 exams that are really fair if you watch his video lectures and do practice problems. NO HW! The final is no joke on the other hand and is 40% of your grade. Awesome professor!! :))
Organic 2 with Dr. West is ten times bettereasier than Organic 2. He is clear, patient, and will practically spoon feed you the information. Although most of the work must be done outside of the lecture, he gives you a solid foundation so that you can comfortably attempt the practice and textbook problems. It was a wonderful semester! Take him!!
If you are between him or anyone else for Organic 2. Don't even hesitate take Dr. West. Going to leave it at that, THE BEST CHOICE FOR ORGO 2.
West is the best
Had him for Orgo 2 and Orgo Spec (not a chem major) beyond awesome professor! For sure on your side when it comes to grading. You get out of the classes what you wish, if you seek help he will give it in abundance to make sure you succeed. Got an A in both classes by just using the resources he gives and studying 1 or 2 nights ahead of a exam.
When he says do not worry about your grade he means it. If you focus on learning rather than what grades you are getting he will take care of you in the end. I got a 60 on the written exam he gave, didn't do to hot on the presentation, and tried my hardest on the final. He noticed I was trying to actually learn though it all and gave me an A-!
Had him Spring, 15, awesome guy! Does whatever possible to give you what you need to succeed. Don't be discouraged if you leave Orgo 1 on a bad note because Orgo 2 with Dr. West is a fresh slate. He even records his lectures and posts detailed notes. Go over powerpoints, watch lectures, and practice problems with his help A or B . No book needed!!
Dr. West is a really nice guy! he wants students to do well and really learn orgo 2. He's not so much concerned with tricking you, but making sure you have a good understanding of the material. You will most def learn in his class, but prepare to study. If you did bad in orgo 1, west gives you a chance to do great in orgo 2. Such a great professor!
So many good things to say about this professor. He's so intelligent and really knows his stuff. He will make you love Orgo 2, and enjoy coming to class. Gives extra credit. If your having s hard time, he will help you until you understand. Truly a great professor and person. Makes Orgo 2 enjoyable and learnable! Would def take again!
Best Orgo professor you could ask for. Not even kidding,Super nice person and always willing to help you be as successful as possible. His lectures are recorded and posted on BB so you can focus in class instead of writing stuff down. Practice problems and review before exams are on exams or quizzes. Made a B+ and retook org 1 x2 , west is the best
Seriously, I love this guy!!! Orgo 2 was such a pleasure with him. He made the class unstressful, and really joyful. You still have to study a lot to do well, but with west, you will get a good understanding of what's going on. He's also the nicest person ever. Go to office hours, and he will talk to you and help you out. Nothing but thumbs up!
Runs the class in a laid back manner. Never answers any student emails and never gives you a straight answer on anything. His tests and quizzes are fair leading up to the final. The final is where he gets you and if were getting by on the bare minimum leading up to it that is where he will knock you out. Barely pulled out with a B, not an easy prof
He is not the easiest chem professor but is better than most. The first quiz is always the hardest. I heard he was super easy so I didnt try on the 1st exam & got a D. Worked super hard after that & got a B- & an A on the 2nd quiz and 2nd exam respectively. The final was brutal. Ended with a B+, probably couldve ended with an A- if tried at first
All over the place and doesn't have an idea to what to assess you on. Says quiz on ch. 13 and 14 instead it will be 11 and 12. The final is BRUTAL compared to the rest of the exams and quizzes. Do all practice problems, take pictures of examples in class on powerpoints (fair game), and be ready for anything. Curve and extra credit is generous.
Much harder than I expected... The course is pretty smooth but that final worth 40% of your grade is a slap and I mean a slap in the face. I ended with a B- after the curving at the end but still was rough. Do all practice problems, go to class for participation extra credit, and take notes of examples in class (hint hint). Fair but hard.. No easyA
Dr. West is one of the best Organic Chemistry professors AT FAU. Chemistry is not my strong subject, but with his help I received an -A in his lecture. He will help you no doubt! Two quizzes, two exams and one final. Majority was straight forward but the final was crazy hard .. but loved him. He gives out lots of extra credit also. Extremely fair.
Easy to pass.... Hard to make an A
Class can be a bit tedious BUT he does go through problems in class and gives plenty of ex credit for just showing up. He takes his time with each ch and whatever he didn't cover won't magically pop up on the test. Pretty fair professor and does his best to answer each question. That being said lets not forget you still need to be forth effort.
Very hard ... Had to withdraw after the first test having less than a 40% in the class. Nice guy but harder and spends less time on material.
He seems like a very nice guy, but he is all over the place. I took him because he is the easiest of the chemistry professors but he doesnt cover as much. He cancled class several times, and class had to end becasuse of his coherence when teaching and was even left for a month in which video lectures took place of the class that is frustrating.
He gives 21 pts of extra credit for showing up to class and gives a 10 pt extra credit take home test at the end of the semester. The tests and quizzes come from his lectures and practice problems, and are usually straightforward. Helpful during office hours. Not that hard to get an A and he wants everyone to do well.
Great guy and awesome class. I was dreading it coming from Orgo 1 but it was so much better. Plenty of resources given in class and on Blackboard to be successful. If you get Dawit as a TA for lecture he is very helpful also along with SI. Tons of EC and opportunities to do well. Tests can be a bit difficult until you get used to the way he does it
Dr. West is probably the best organic professor at FAU. He does get a little distracted, but covers and explains the information that he tests on. His practice problems are very helpful, as his exams can be a little tricky. He gives extra credit at random in class, and 10 extra credit points for a take home assignment.
West really cares students are grasping material. His BB practice problems show up on exams, be sure to take advantage of those resources when studying. EXTRA CREDIT provided. makes the material easy to understand. goes step by step for reactions so be sure you fully understand what is expected to happen. LOVE him!
Amazing professor for Organic 2; tells you what to expect and know! Extremely fair exams and goes over similar scenarios in class if not verbatim on exams. SI and Dawit (TA) are really helpful preparing for exams; reviews are very similar to exams again if not verbatim. Everyone is straight forward and their to help its your job to use it. Tons EC!
Probably the best Orgo professor at FAU. Between the practice questions he gives you (which are often on the tests too) and the TA/SI, along with the EC he gives for going to class, there is no way you'll get anything less than a B. The questions from class/on BB are really all you need. Cute accent doesn't hurt either.
Was scared at first but Organic 2 was truly the best! His lectures are great and he gives a good amount of EC. SI is also helpful on lecture material and prep. Dawit and Gabrielle his TAs do well with the reviews! Use them to study because they really narrow it down well on what to know. Do the practice and reviews provided,+ go to class A :)
Dr. West is amazing! Really cares about if his students do well, understand material, and pass the course. Grateful to have had him for Organic 2, his lectures are helpful but sometimes have too much info especially NMR. SI helps if you have time for it and the TAs (Gaberielle and Dawitt) recording+ practice reviews helped the most + going to lect.
Dr. West is one of the easier professors for chemistry at FAU. He's also really nice and approachable. This is one of those classes that you can cram for 1 - 2 nights before the exam and still get a passing grade. That being said if you want an A you still need to put in a decent amount of work. Randomly gives extra credit for attending class.
He's a wonderful professor. Probably one of the best professors at FAU. Really knows how to explain material well. Great at answering questions in a simplistic way. Would love if fau has more professors like him. Very respected by students.
He is a really good professor probably the best organic chemistry professor at FAU. That being said, he does go over problems and explains well. The exams and quizzes are very hard. Must study about a month before each exam or quiz.
Outstanding professor at Organic Chem and Chemistry in general. No book needed just go to class for EC and pay attention to all the problems he does! Also do or watch the review material Gabrielle and Dawit (TAs) give you and go to their sessions cause they will say helpful stuff for exams. Use what is given to you and study A or B no problem!
Best professor I have EVER had. So nice, funny, and taught me to understand Orgo! I got a C in O1, and because of Dr. West, I understand Orgo and got an A. I also took the lab at the same time, which really helped me in the class. Dr. West is always willing to help, and he is hilarious. Not a walk in the park, study 15 h/week A. THANK YOU DR W!
The best chemistry professor at FAU. So passionate about the subject and teaches in a way for student to grasp the material. I don't know why FAU hasn't made him the Department chair yet. Big mistake putting these other quacks their. You will love Dr. West. Make sure to attend each class as he gives pop quizzes.
He goes through a lot of material very quickly and not as throughly as I was used to by my orgo 1 proffesor. That difference threw me off for the first quiz... That being did there is no reason for someone to fail this class. Dr. West is very fair and gives plenty of EC opportunities. Take advantage of the exam reviews held by the TA they are key.
Wonderful professor! Exams + quizzes are straightforward, and the professor offers a good amount of extra credit. Go to the TA reviews and do their practice questions before an upcoming test. Also, do the professor's practice questions and review his ppts. If you have questions, go to the SI tutoring. If you do bad in the beginning, don't give up!
Really amazing professor, one of the best at FAU. Presents the material well and is very fair. His TAs, Dawitt and Gabrielle are really helpful to and made the difference between a good grade an an excellent grade. Great class wish they had this set up in all chemistry courses, now dreading biochem.
Really nice guy and always willing to help. I barely passed Organic 1 (on the second try) but passed his class with a B. Curves the overall grade and gives lots of extra credit for going to class. GO TO CLASS!
Only difference between Orgo 1 and 2 was I would take 2 again in a heartbeat. Dr. West and his TAs are amazing! Study what they give you and the book isn't needed. Really supportive professor, not condescending at all and easy to talk to. Understanding and caring, if you need help just ask him. Go to class and use the TA practice reviews.
Lyndon does a great job with his lectures and if you have trouble just ask him after class. He gives a good amount of EC in the end. To pass his class with an A, focus on the TA reviews, book problems, and all the supplemental material posted. He pulls questions for the test from there. Be sure you know concept as well. I love his teaching style.
West is awesome, the FAU chem department is pretty bad when it comes to professors that can get on your level and explain things, But he is great. His lecture slides are incredible. Extra credit if you show up. Make sure not to slack at the end of class, the final can knock you down, I went an A to a B-. One of the best science professors here.
Dr. West was great. In the beginning of the semester I was struggling. Did terrible on 3 of 4 of my quizzes/exams. Lowest quiz/exam is dropped Plenty of extra credit, ended with a B+. Dont give up, even if it looks bad. Xtra credit really helps! Do the practice problems, he puts some of them on the tests! Go to class, he gives extra credit quizzes
West is a very caring professor who understands that this subject is difficult. He actually cares about how well his students do and is always willing to help. Go to his office hours if you are struggling. Do NOT take the lab with this class or you will not survive. He curved our exams and final grades at the end.
West is the nicest orgo professor you will ever meet. Very approachable and caring. Orgo 2 isn't easy but he doesn't try to trick you. Personally i didn't learn much in class but sometimes he gives EC. The tests are exactly like the worksheets. Go to SI and they'll teach you everything you need to know.
Dr. West makes Organic Chemistry very approachable and easy. His tests and quizzes are very straight forward. If you attend SI and do his practice questions you will be fine. He normally drops your lowest test or quiz grade, whichever benefits you the most. There is also homework that helps your grade out. He is very caring and understanding.
By far the best orgo professor out there. Hes really helpful when you ask questions.
Good guy who does his job well. Accessible outside of class and provides plenty of practice material. The SI sessions are also a valuable study resource. You have the option of taking the lab separately from the lecture, which helps a lot. Go to class and study, and you'll do fine. My grade is "Not sure yet" because the semester isn't over yet.
Dr. west gives plenty of extra credit to help boost your grade up. To be successful go to class, utilize practice problems similar to the ones he provide, study ahead of time. Final was the hardest because it was cumulative so when he reviews old tests take notes !
Prof. West is a very sweet guy. He teaches in an understandable way. The class has homework which helps as a buffer. He also gives some extra credit. The test are about 30 questions long and are similar to the practice problems given on canvas. Studying is very important.
Passionate about subject, I think mainly because he has experience with subject hands on, but he goes too much into detail that is completely irrelevant to your understanding of the material! this would only be great if you are into the whole 3d picture of ORGO! or even a Masters But seriously he needs to just teach the reactions! annoying accent!
Took over summer 12 weeks, boring, not informative material. only learned from SI. You MUST practice and watch youtube videos, says we will do problems next class (every class) only goes more into the background of info further! absolutely useless background info for understanding how to actually work mechanisms!
I am a student at FSU and took Orgo 1 there- barely passed with a C and didn't learn a thing. Dr. West was a great professor and really took the time to teach and explain all the concepts. His practice problems and reviews are very similar to the exam. I averaged a C on all exams and ended up with a B in the class. Would recommend!
Dr. West was really good at explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. Orgo 2 is a hard class and there's no way around it. I thought West's class was harder than Germain's simply because he does not curve until the very end so you don't really know what you have in the class until after the final. Tests were hard to get an A on.
Organic chemistry is already ridiculously difficult and West is really confusing with his material. Go to SI sessions and tutoring to do well in this class. West lectures are hard to listen to but youtube and practice problems help you do well in the class, as well as the question problem sets he puts up on canvas.
This class was just as students said better than Orgo 1. Nice professor. Good amount of extra credit. Theres Orion just like Orgo 1 for EC. All lecture videos are on canvas so you can re-watch. Keep in mind its chemistry YOU HAVE TO STUDY AND DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS, nothing is going to be given. Clutch prep really helped ALOT, I strongly recommend.
Dr. West was a good professor at the beginning of the semester before we all had to go online for COVID. He was a horrible professor online. His lectures barely work, rarely answered emails, and do not expect any help from him for exams. He decided extra credit pts earned in class won't be counted. Overall do not take him online wait for in person.
Look man. Dr. West is your only Ochem2 option at FAU. His lectures? Useless. Does he respond outside of class? Absolutely not. Does he go back on his word regarding EC? Absolutely! You're basically paying to teach yourself and for the exam grades. His exams are tricky and hard. If you can take this at BC or elsewhere, please do.
Nice guy, didnt learn anything. Orgo 2 IS NOT EASIER THAN ORGO1. That is a myth. BOTH ARE VERY HARD! I heard clutch prep was beneficial to most. He didnt drop an exam for us as promised. Lectures were just him talking about research in this field. His Canvas practice problems are very helpful.
Honestly he is extremely lazy.
Dr. West is nigh impossible to contact by email, which makes learning hard when his lecture videos from 2015 are missing content, out of order or missing entirely. The exam reviews are not reliable as his exams don't closely resemble the problems. You will learn from your SI teacher or another source. 5 points of extra credit total for the course.
STAY AWAY! Power points were not helpful so you have to teach yourself. So many people in the class didnt pass is final exam and he didnt curve or drop. You would think he would care during a pandemic to at least answer an email but NO he does not reply to emails or concerns. Not a good experience
This class was taken online due to COVID19. He does not respond to e-mail. Extra credit was only 5 points and there is a ton of homework that's barely worth any points. He seems super lazy with online classes
His lectures are fine and powerpoints were helpful to study. His quizzes and exams are difficult however just make sure to do a lot of practice problems and the homework he provides. He was very MIA during the transition to online and never really replied to students emails . The final was really difficult and not a lot of extra credit is given
This class was online. It was really hard, i really wish he gave more extra credits.
Harsh professor! Tests were set out to be more difficult than usual due to the class being moved online. Did not post any new lectures and his old ones were completely useless for the tests. Makes you do a ton of homework for little to no credit! Trying to get a response from him? Forget about it! Only offered a few EC points at the very end...
Hes nice but hes much harder online. I heard good things about him before but the same cant be said for when he taught during COVID. Almost no extra credit . 90% of grades are tests. Almost no ec. No 1-on-1 tutoring since only online SI is available. Don't take him online. He changed the class a lot and theres little time on exams.
Horrible! Does not drop lowest grade, you fail one exam and don't expect to pass the class with a B or an A. The worst, he doesn't really care about his students and he barely gives extra credit.
Dr. West is not a bad professor. If you study and do his practice problems you will do just fine on the test. I highly recommend on attending all SI sessions, since those students have taken his class before they know whats going to be on the test. Very consist professor, whatever questions he goes over, theres a high chance it will be on the test.
Doesnt answer emails and isnt accessible at all. Doesnt curve which I never seen before, especially for a Chem class.
Dr. West is good in person I'm sure but online was not pleasant. There were no live lectures until after the first exam, and those were really helpful. The exams are literally 90% of your grade, so if you flop on one you're screwed. ORION is annoying and only worth 2 points for hours of work. There's like 10 points of EC, do it. Try someone else.
Honestly if you studied for this class and put in the work, you should pass. Unless you do not have a solid foundation from Orgo 1 and previous chem classes, then you might struggle. I did not think this class was bad and would take it again.
I barely passed Ochem 1 with a C, so I was nervous coming into Ochem 2. West really helped me understand and catch up where I was missing a foundation in this subject. Overall, his lectures and extra credit are very helpful and lead to success in this course with proper effort :)
I learned mainly from going to SI and tutoring; I also used YouTube. Professor cares and is friendly, does not answer emails much, & question number and time ratio for exams was quite tight. Overall, I enjoyed learning the topic, but generally became very lost in lectures. But if you study, understand the examples, you'll be fine.
The most caring and excellent professor I've had so far at fau. The lecture I enjoyed and corresponded with the test as well as homework.
TAKE HIM!!! He is the best orgo professor, I had to retake this class from a different school and I learned more orgo than I ever have there. Just with a few days of studying I got B's and A's on the exams/quizzes. The only resources you need to excel are the ones he provides (practice questions) as well as some youtube vids for harder concepts.
Dr West is really sweet and caring. He doesn't curve exams but honestly, he doesn't need to because they are pretty straight forward and usually has a decent amount of questions recycled from his practice problems so DO THOSE!! Tutoring helps a lot too, as well as youtube videos. As long as you study and put the effort, you will be more than okay.
Dr.West really cares for his students.A lot of extra credit opportunities, weekly homework assignments 5 questions. For studying, attend SI, do every chapter practice problem he posts and look over everything he posts long ago in the files section, there will be questions like that on the exam, also online resources, do all that you'll have an A
Overall not a bad professor, wants you to pass. Do the practice questions posted and the lecture questions and you are more than set for the tests. SI usually helps as well. Very passable.
Dr. West really cares about his students. He gives a good amount of extra credit and is really helpful in office hours. This class is HARD and he knows it. But he gives so many opportunities to succeed in this class.
Don't let these reviews scare you. Dr West is the sweetest and he cares a lot about his students. He gives lots of extra credit and his quizzes/exams come directly from his practice problems so DO ALL OF THEM. He also uses examples from class on the exams. Don't even try SI because it's not even comparable to SI from orgo 1. You will be fine, STUDY
Dr. West uploads practice quizzes at the very start of the semester. Do them and you will definitely see a lot of similar if not the exact same questions in the quizzes/exams. He uploads recorded lectures and a lot of the questions there as well shows up in the exams. Very caring; he wants you to succeed. But you have to put in some effort as well.
Orgo Chem is already hard enough, but Dr. West will work with you if you attempt to understand. He uploads practice quizzes and extra credit exams which are very SIMILAR to the actual tests. He some times curves and provides extra credit in class. He is extremely nice and respected, be prepared to teach yourself the material though.
Dr.West is the best chemistry professor at FAU. Orgo is an easy class if you put in the time to study. He provides practice questions for each test and reuses a good amount of them on the actual exam. Always available during office hours to help and wants you to pass and understand the material. He also offers a ton of extra credit. Amazing teacher
This was the only class I have ever failed, Dr. West confused me with his lectures and we were pretty much only graded on exams. I have to retake this class and will not be taking it with him.
had previously taken my class with Judd in palm beach state and the material would not make sense for as much as i tried. I then take this class, the professor goes over what's on the test, but there's reviews.tells you what he's gonna use for the test. many examples to practice. the test are not hard if you go over the practice problems he sends.
Dr. West is very sweet and understanding of his students. It is clear he is invested in their success. Organic chem is hard, but Dr. West provides ample practice questions/exams and extra credit to help out. The summer course was three exams, a final, and 10 short homework assignments. The extra credit was either online or during lecture at random.
Pretty good professor, the class itself is hard but the instructor is fair and offers a bunch of EC to help you out, ps use his practice tests to study for exams!!
The absolute best Orgo professor. Dr. West makes Orgo 2 easier to understand and cares about students succeeding. He uses a generous grading scale and provides helpful study resources. 3 exams and cumulative final. No homework. Weekly assignments used as extra credit and uses similar questions for exams. SI helps a lot as well. Amazing professor!
Dr. West was the best for orgo 2. Dr. West made the info understandable. To study I reviewed the topics on YouTube with the organic chemistry tutor there's like 10-15 min videos explaining each concept and they were very helpful. Use the guides West gives you they are very similar to the test!!
If you want to pass this class, you need to study the practice exams he gives out and reviews that he did in class. also get 100's on all the homework, then you should be alright. Since It was summer, the class went super fast, and we didn't cover the last chapter. But West is very nice and caring he will help you if you ask.
Professor West makes Organic Chemistry 2 manageable. He provides helpful study resources like practice tests, offers extra credit, and genuinely wants students to succeed. Unstuck study was also a great study tool alongside his materials.
My Kiwi king. Great professor. Take orgo with him if you get the chance.
Dr. West genuinely wants you to succeed and is very generous with extra credit. The ALEKS homework is annoying but will save your grade if needed. Practice exams are exactly what's on the tests; sometimes the exam has the same questions, so pay attention. Orgo 2, is hard, but if you work with Dr. West and try your best, you will succeed!
Lectures can be a little boring, but the tests are extremely fair and Dr. West explains concepts in a way that make sense. Very fair and caring professor. Would recommend to anyone for orgo 2!
West is a really good teacher; goes over tests as a class, and gives a practice test that is very similar to actual test. Love hearing him say beta as "bay-ter"
