She's pretty tough, but if you work hard...you can get an A. You'll want to kill yourself at first, but she gets so much better. Overall, a smart and helpful person with good worldy insights--interesting.

she's a tough teacher... just go to her office hours. She'll help you correct you're papers. MAKE REVISIONS!

not really easy and not super hard. she is very critical about your work, but in the end her criticism will help you. she is extremely intelligent and will lead great class discussions

I cannot imagine a better survey class for writing or a better writing professor. She isn't actually tough, she just seems that way to many unfurtunately the substandard students she treceives out of high school. Her job is to to correct the errors instilled by social promotion and it is NOT easy!

Very demanding, Unlike other classes, she makes you work your butt off for just a C.

I loved this class. She is quite demanding and you do not want to fall behind. She expects you to learn but is a realist about the quality of your work. There are probably easier instructors but you'll learn something in this class.

I really enjoyed this class because Prof Renner made it interesting. She's smart, helpful, and cares about her students. Class is laid back, but don't slack off bc it will bite you in the ass! A lot of work outside of class.

Warning! do not take this class with renner if you can avoid it. she a nice person, but gives way too much homework! this class is overwhelming even if you're only going for a C. the homework load is ridiculous for a class that is, for most students, a grad requirement!

I DONT KNOW HOW ANYONE CAN GET LOWER THAN A B IN THIS CLASS.. JUST SHOW UP AND SHE IS WILLING TO HELP YOU, AND UNDERSTANDS THAT YOU HAVE OTHER CLASSES THAN THIS AND IS HELPFUL.. The work is not difficult, but the amount of work seems to add up. There is a lot of time to complete but the papers can be long and rewuire revision. She is very clear as to what she expects.

WONDERFUL TEACHER! A lot of assignments but easy to get a passing grade. Definitely gives you the time and overview for each assignment. I would highly reccomend!

Easy Class. Easy A if you do all the work. She is nice and willing to help you with any problems. 3 presentations + a good portfolio = A

She is a very helpful professor but there is a lot of work. I would suggest taking the class credit no credit to decrease the load. Highly recommended! Very helpful!

Ok...prettiest/cutest/best dressed teacher at SDSU, hands down:) Class required DEDICATION! U can not expect to pass by just writing nonesense, revise ALL of ur essays. Go for the A, she has a list...dont go for a B, C or C/NR...it makes no sense...quiz on vocab every class from the book, 2 timed practice essays, one final timed essay & portfolio.

She is just sooo nice. She is willing to help u out of class and gives the necessary explanations for students to be clear. The class requires time though but you can handle it.

Professor Renner is absolutely amazing. I did not want to attend this class at all before I started it. She understands not everyone wants to be there and she makes the best of it. She talks to you like a real person too and not "just" a student. Plus she is ridiculously hot.

It would be hard to find a better university level professor than this. Beauty AND brians.

Come on, people. It may be a lot of work but she really wants us to improve on our reading/writing. If you get at least a C, you should've seen some improvement in your writing. Students didn't like her because they expect to just sit and do nothing. The class will challenge your views and expect a lot from you but you will become a better writer!!

Very helpful professor. If you ask her, she's always willing to help you. The materials we wrote about were very interesting and challenged my beliefs. She's a very nice person and professor.

Exceptional professor and beautiful woman. Being a Christian, she teaches in that direction, so any atheist or anti-Christian will likely fail to read her as a teacher rather than a hostile.

If you want an A, there's a game to be played with Renner, and you have to devote yourself to it. Hours upon hours. Seriously. Otherwise, just go for C/NC and you will coast. Really sweet woman.

Had to take RWS 280. She isn't nearly as bad as all the comments, basically tell her you want the A and go to her conferences and she'll tell you exactly what to do. A lot of work but she's pretty understanding and flexible. She's really nice but definitely spends way too much on Christianity.

This class... was the longest part of my week. She loves to talk about things the students obviously have no interest in. We took an hour to read the syllabus on the first day -__- I initially tried to get every other possible teacher, but after all those classes were full i had to take this to graduate. If you can wait for better teacher, do it

The class was pretty easy to pass. She assigns a lot of material but if you actually give an effort and complete the material before the day that it's due, you'll do fine. I'll iterate it again, she's an easy grader as long as you give an effort.

You will love her or hate her. It is not hard to do well if you participate and listen. Each week you take a vocab quiz, that is easy if you pay attention to her review. You write 3 essays; 1 is 25 pages. You can revise. She is pretty wishy-washy on what she expects- UNLESS you take advantage of office hours. Only wants papers with her views.

I have to admit, I was intimidated by Professor Renner's reviews before I took her class. Then I was astonished that she has as many bad reviews as the ones listed below. To save you from intimidation and that gulp of fear you may be feeling after reading these reviews, I want you to know she is a great professor and there is no need to worry.

Professor Renner required one paper --- that's right --- only one. It is a long paper though 20-25 pages. The best part of this "only one paper" is that you work on it all semester and it is graded continually -- so lot's of feedback if you want it. There is a small vocab test once a week and extra credit is offered if you need it.

Pretty easy class I would say, dont get scared about the 20 page essay. I freaked out and it ended up being a piece of cake. Pretty chill class. Also, you do the same exact stuff in 305 so I plan to take her for that.
