I have no doubt that she was a good preschool teacher and I admire her knowledge and enthusiasm but her expectations are very unclear and vague and yet she is really picky. Not good if you want to get above a C.
She is very inconsistent in her requests and frequently changes expectations. The work load is way too much for a 2 credit class. Her grading is tough and she offers no extra credit. She isn't clear on her expectations but then nothing anyone turns in is good enough. She will often leave class but expect the students to stay and work.
She is mediocre. Don't get me wrong, she has lots of knowledge about C.D. and her passion for the subject helped inspire me. However, she is disorganized and a tough grader and often doesn't explain her grading decisions. This makes doing assignments or projects overwhelming because even when you work really hard you don't always get a good grade.
Sis Robertson loves children and it shows in her teaching. Grading is unclear at times. Pop quizzes on reading material throughout the semester. Two group projects. Not a lot of assignments for grading so must do well on all to get a decent grade.
At first I didn't like this class, but it has grown on me this semester. There are group projects, which I'm not a fan of. She is a tough grader and you have to work for your grade. I did enjoy the class more as we got closer to the end of the semester.
She doesn't tell you what she expects. She grades really easy assignments extremely hard. She doesn't give good feedback, she isn't very approachable either.
Sis Robertson loves kids. She makes that clear in her lectures. Unfortunately she is a terrible teacher. Her assignments are very vague, but she expects very specific things that she does not include in the assignment. She is a VERY harsh grader, much too harsh for a freshmen level class. Big group projects. Do the reading, even if it's long.
do not take her if you do not have to. Will not give you an A even on the simplest assignments, expects you to spend money on almost every project, and is the most boring teacher on a class that should be fun. Dont expect a good grade because she is such a harsh grader for no reason and will not give you an explanation on what you do wrong.
I never knew what was expected of me and the work I did. She gives very few tests which is nice, except I didn't know what I should be learning and studying and surprise!--there was a final I didn't know about and wasn't prepared for at all. Who knows, her teaching style might work for you, but you're going to have to work really hard.
She is hands down one of my FAVORITE professors. Her lectures are ALWAYS engaging and you learn so much. If you don't care about grades take her. She is a bit unclear about her expectations but she is willing to meet with students to help them succeed. After the final I got an A- in the class but to my surprise she bumped it up to an A.
Sister Robertson is not very clear on the criteria of her assignments, it often seems like she is unprepared when arriving to and teaching class. This class requires you to work in groups a lot and she often gives quizzes with very little resources to study with. Overall I would avoid taking a class from her if you can help it.
I hated this professor. She is a terrible grader. She is super unclear on her expectations. She is rude and unpredictable. She was never willing to work with me, no matter how hard I tried. A family member passed away and I had to go out of town for a couple days and she did not care at all.
Right off the bat, I could tell she was very passionate about child development. But she expected us to do such in-depth research and projects that cost a lot of money on my part. She is very unclear about how she wants projects done and is very critical on them. She also grades very hard.
Amazing teacher.
Sister Robertson is a really good teacher but she is really hard as well. There were so many projects and assignments to do that it became quite stressful. She is also a very tough grader and her pop quizzes were a lot harder than she made them seem. I enjoyed her lectures sometimes but there were other instances where class would be boring.
Pe prepared to have major projects, group projects, and major tests within weeks of each other. Every time you go to class, you will have a reading quiz; on the bright side, she will let you use your notes. One time I literally threw up in class, and I asked if I could make up the assignment and she said no and marked me absent.
She is a nice lady outside of class but is a very difficult professor. She is passionate about what she is teaching so when you get it wrong, shes really doesnt give you more than one chance.
It is hard to get a good grade on your papers. She is caring and loves to talk about the importance of child development. She tells some good stories. The tests are a bit on the difficult side, but you just need to really study for them. There are a few random quizzes. You will do a couple of group projects. She is a good teacher. I enjoyed her.
Sister Robertson is a great teacher. She teaches a lot of material and expects you to read a lot from the textbook. There are a few major group projects that I didn't like because it was hard to control the work of others and we were all graded the same. You will rarely every get a perfect score on an assignment. Also get ready to reading quizzes!
She is a good teacher and definitely knows what she is talking about. She's tough only because she's strict on what she expects from you. There is a ton of reading, you basically read the entire textbook. Keep up on your homework and you will be fine. There are about 4 pop quizzes, not too hard though; able to use notes for the pop quizzes.
If you are a CD major, you WILL have to take her. Much easier in 150. She is a stickler on citations, has extremely unclear expectations and got upset when we didn't do an assignment her way (yet she didn't explain it), and had to add extra points b/c too many people failed her class. Go to class and do the work and you'll probably get a B-.
Lots of reading, and shell pop quiz you on it frequently. Grades the class like its 300+ level. Near impossible to get an A on any hw assignment. Boring lectures, hard to approach because she just seems mean. Avoid this teacher like the plague if possible.
She is my least favorite teacher I have EVER had. If you are a CD major you will have to take from her, but if at all possible avoid her!! She never gives you the right expectations, you never know what she wants, she is literally the hardest grader ever, and her tests are made to trick you. Follow her syllabus like your life depends on it!!
Honestly I really tried not to hate this class. I feel like I really know the information but somehow I'm still not passing. She isn't super clear about what she wants and grades really harshly. She let's other students grade us as well as her and my grade from her was higher than my grade from my peers and that frustrated me. Lots of pop quizes.
She is very nice and you can tell she is passionate about Child Development. She has a lot of experience and knowledge that adds to the lectures. With that being said she is a tough grader and seems to never give an A on any assignment. She expects a lot of reading and the quizzes/tests are difficult.
She knows her stuff and is very passionate about what she teaches. She also isn't very clear when it comes to grading and whats due.
Sister Robertson is an incredibly knowledgeable professor, however, she taught and graded her 150 class as strictly as a 400 class. The grading portion of this course was excruciating and receiving an A on assignments rarely occurred unless the TA graded. There are also many pop quizzes. She fails to submit/update grades in a reasonable time frame.
She knows what she is teaching about but I wasn't a fan of her teaching style. You won't pass unless you go to class. She also has pop quizzes over the reading. She seemed kinda disorganized about certain projects. She also took a while to grade many assignments and she is a pretty hard grader. Make sure you're prepared for lots of group projects.
I took Child 230 from her last semester. It was a requirement and there was only one section and she taught it. For only being level 2 class she grades strict. No one ever got full credit on any of the assignments and she won't work with you to help your grade. As a friend she is nice, but wouldn't recommend her as a teacher.
Class itself is amazing! I learned so much. However, she grades VERY harsh. If you care about your grades, get another teacher to take classes from. She wont help you fix your work and do better. She never gave contact for the class TA so we couldnt ask them for help. Waited for the end of semester to grade a paper turned in early in the semester
She is very knowledgeable but is extremely difficult to work with. There are very few assignments but they are worth a lot of points. She is a very very tough grader and does not help with improving grades. Will NEVER take a class from her again.
She grades subjectively and is super harsh. I lost my 4.0 from this class, even though I worked really hard. Her lectures were sometimes interesting and informative. She was a pretty nice lady, but she did not seem open to feedback. The readings are terrible. Do not take her if at all possible.
I have all A's in my classes.. except for this one. I have never had a teacher who has graded so harshly. It's almost like she doesn't want you to succeed. She didn't work with me or my classmates to help us improve. I worked hard on all my assignments and I don't think I received a perfect score on any of them. I would not take this class again.
I get why everyone is saying she's too tough because I actually hated her when I took CHILD150 from her. But taking 230 as a junior, I grew to DEEPLY respect her and value her lectures/feedback. She's hard but she motivates you to stretch and actually do more - unlike a lot of other teachers who I won't name :) #IWishIHadMoreSpaceToDefendHerHonor
Get ready to read friends, she is very textbook heavy. There is a grading rubric for assignments, but she doesn't give specific feedback; occasional pop quizzes based on reading (won't pass if reading isn't done), she's a tough grader. I would not recommend Robertson to anyone, and I had accommodations while taking this class. It was the worst imo
Sister Robertson cares about childhood curriculum, however when it comes to reaching out to her students she does not seem to care. She lacks the ability to help students succeed when they fail and she grades things super slow. I did not know a solid grade in the course until the end of the year. BE PREPARED TO READ LOTS! Do not take from her.
I respect Sister Robertson and her efforts to teach early childhood education, but I had a hard time with her. I would try to email her about questions or concerns and she would either not reply at all or reply with unkindness. There were a lot of readings and out of class assignments that were difficult. She is an extremely harsh grader.
Sister Robertson is a good teacher but a tough grader. She pops up reading quizzes and never gives the full points in an assignment. I had A´s in my classes and this is the only one with a C-. She is nice and knows perfectly what she is talking about but never replies to emails and helps you to succeed.
I felt that she didn't care for me to succeed, I would reach out to her and she wouldn't be flexible at all. I would not take her again, it was brutal
Sis. Robertson is knowledgeable and you can learn a lot from her. However, you can learn just as much from other professors with a lot less headache. She marks you down on EVERYTHING and doesn't work with you. I got marked down on things I couldn't control. Her tests are very hard and you have to put down her right answer. So so hard to get an A.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. She gives no clear instruction to her assignments and constantly seems like she is lost in her lesson plan. Grading is all over the place, you either get an A or an F, no in between. She will dock points on something if it is not her perception of right even if it is right. Basically need to be perfect.
Sister Robertson was a very difficult teacher for me. I liked her in class because she would explain real-life scenarios and give examples. There are surprises on the exams, and she is a tough grader. The reading doesn't count for a grade, but she does pop quizzes that will hurt your grade if you aren't prepared. You need to attend class to do well
Sis. Robertson is honestly a great teacher. I'll be getting D- in the class (my own fault) but she was very caring and understanding. I had a group project, which my whole group fell through, and she let me turn in a paper instead. She wants you to try your best, and I understand she was hard for other people, but she really is a good teacher.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. She tries to find errors in your work and not once did I get 100 percent although I worked hard and spent hours on her assignments. She is not flexible at all and does not care for her students. She is very unclear with her assignments and her tests are ridiculous. If you can avoid taking her, please do.
She is honestly one of the hardest teachers I have had. She is a tough grader and her assignment instructions/ rubrics are nor instructive at all. I showed up to class everyday and worked hard on all of her assignments and I am still not doing well in the grade department. I respect as a childcare professional but not as a college professor.
For the ones argued her tests and grade standers are rediculous, Here is COLLEGE!! NOT your HIGH SCHOOL! Most of the people take this class in the first semester, so they expect every professor needs to give them an A no matter what. You absolutely have to do your reading and your work. She is professional and tries hard to help us to be like it!
Here's thing: Sister Robertson really means well. She is very knowledgeable about her material. You need to study for her tests and actually put in some effort on your projects, then you will pass. There are definitely some frustrating moments about her not being clear about what she expects on projects. Participate in your group work and projects.
For a child development teacher, she has the least amount of care for her students I have ever seen. You either get an A or an F no in between and she refuses to ever give out 100 percent even if you deserve it. I tried to work with her so many times and she would just send back a petty Vague message or not respond at all. Childish.
This class was so hard for no reason. She's the only teacher for child150 so if you can get through it, you can get through anything. She never required attendance because of COVID, but that might change in the future. Her tests are incredibly difficult and require you to know soooooo much information about the smallest subjects.
This teacher was awful. She takes forever to grade assignments, so you never really know what your actual grade is. She is such a tough grader; it's almost like she's looking for mistakes. She doesn't take the time to get to know her students, I felt like a number to her. I didn't really know what I needed to know for the final, so that was rough.
She is the worst teacher I have ever taken a class from. She is very self contradictory. Doesnt allow people to get 100% on anything, and i didnt learn much. She spent most the time talking ab herself or shaming students. Dont take form her I promise youll be better off with a different teacher.
Sister Robertson basically expects you to know what she is thinking all the time. It is very rare that she actually provides a rubric and she offers vague feedback. The only way that you can seriously pass this class is if you read the textbook and actually show up. She is a really nice person but I did not enjoy having her as a professor at all.
As much as I wanted to enjoy this class, Sister Robertson just ain't it. She rarely gives feedback and she's an incredibly hard grader. I actually really enjoyed her teaching and I felt like I learned a lot, I just wasn't able to get past her grading expectations. Watch out for pop quizzes. Read the textbook when you can. Don't give up!
she is specific about random things, makes it hard to know what to do. She does know a lot about the topic and cares about the major. Half the stuff she says doesn't make sense bc she is babbling on about irrelevant thing that are party related. There is a lot of reading and she typically never replies to you when trying to reach her out of class.
Oh Lynette. She is very aware of the topic of child development. However, she is extremely specific on what she wants on various assignments. She does share rubrics with you for various assignments so read those thoroughly. Basically telepathic communication. I had to work extremely hard to even receive a C- in her class.
I think she is a good person, her classes are just unnecessarily hard. She gave out a 20 question test over her syllabus?? She is very picky on what works and what doesnt work, and rarely gives out As. I want to walk out of her class so often because of her harsh grading and how unnecessary it is.
Sister Robertson gets a bad rep, but she really stretched me to grow and learn as a student. Even though she can be tough, and has high expectations, she just wants to help students become better and prepare them for the reality of being an early childhood professional. You have to be on top of your game and be attentive, but you can succeed.
Level of difficulty for a typically first semester class was ridiculous. Constantly overwhelmed. Put hours more of my time put in than expected. Very defensive when asked how I could do better in her class. Refused to communicate after that. Said we needed to be perfect to get to an 80 on anything. May be a better professor for advanced classes
She is a HARSH grader and very old school. Her canvas is pretty unorganized and you have to print everything off. Her instructions for her assignments are not clear and very confusing.
Sister Robertson is a VERY tough grader. She has you read A LOT from the textbooks before class because she might have pop quizzes (she gave us 2, but one was online and open book). LOTS of group projects, and only taught us a few new things in class in the PowerPoints, and according to her final study guide, EVERYTHING is free-game for the final.
She asks you to buy a DAP textbook for one assignment, so just use a friend's. Sister Robertson is the toughest grader and will do anything to not give you a 100% even if that means you get a 9.5/10.
She is a VERY rude teacher. Do not take her if you want to learn, she grades rough and is very disrespectful when you ask her questions. If your opinion goes against hers she will not like it.
Sister Robertson gets a bad rap because she is a tough grader. Honestly, if you follow the instructions, you'll do fine. She is so experienced and has lots of good insights and advice. Keep an open mind--she's a wonderful professor.
She's someone to avoid if possible. She does know a lot about the topic, but she gives way too much information. She grades really heavy, and she gives a lot of quizzes. From what I've heard from some of me classmates, everytime they went to talk to her about a problem they were having about an assignment, all she said was, "well life isn't fair."
She is a tough grader. I only got 100% on one assignment. She rarely gives you an A on anything. I got docked 2 points for a single comma error. We write a 3-page paper single spaced with narrow margins. She also gives pop quizzes and will dock you points on assignments if you don't write exactly word for word. She rarely gives feedback to you.
She explains projects less than a week before they are due. It is difficult to keep up with her assignments because she always goes on tangents when giving lectures. The tests and quizzes are hard to study for, she adds things that we never discussed. I did not enjoy this class at all. 0/10 If no stars was an option I would like it here.
You are wrong if you think Child Development is an easy major to choose. She is the only professor for two courses of the CD major. She has tried her best to help us become professionals. If you only care about GRADES but not the profession in Child development, please change your major. You chose CD major only because you want to learn.
She is a terrible teacher. She has expectations for things but doesn't tell us exactly what she needs or wants. She gives pop quizzes on the reading which is hella long. 2-3 hours long reading. Would never take her again.
She gets a bad rap sometimes, but she made this class so much more fun than the other professor who normally teaches it. She uses first-hand experience and all the things we are taught to help children learn. She always uses a rubric for grading and gives it to you to complete assignments. She is a tough grader but that's just cause she cares.
Sister Robertson is honestly a good professor. She is a tough grader, but she means well. This class was the hardest class I have ever taken from her. I think it was because the whole class was based off of group work. My group sucked, so obviously my grade shows from it. You do have to purchase the ERS book and do a portfolio. The 2 exams are hard
Sister Robertson is an amazing professor! Come ready to learn, Sister Roberton has so much important information. If you have come to college to have an easy class then you are in college for the wrong reasons. Stay engaged in class and do your assignments and you will be fine. Make sure to be passionate about your education and you will succeed.
I originally got a 70 on an assignment and when I went to check my grade a week later I realized it had changed to an 80. Her comment on the rubric was "you did better than I thought you would." I was just so disappointed with her as a teacher. Everything was opinion graded and she had definite favorites in class. She tried just not very hard.
I have taken many classes from he but trust if it was my choice I wouldn't take any classes from her. She has favorites no doubt about that, if she does not like you she will not acknowledge you at all, she will ignore you and pretend she doesn't see you when you try to raise your hand and answer questions.
I wasn't a fan of Sister Robertson when I took CHILD150, but I've grown a bit of admiration for her during CHILD230. I was able to grow and learn so much BECAUSE I put the effort in. This is not an easy class, but I think that's good/okay. The midterm and final are the hardest, so study well for them. Some textbook reading. Good luck and work hard.
Listen. If you're a straight A student and you put in the work, you'll get a good grade, and she'll be fair with grading. If you slack off the slightest bit, you're done for. She inspired me with my major and career, because I liked the way that she taught. She is a tough grader and work heavy, but you can do it.
Very knowledgeable & kind, but a very tough professor. Her grading is very tough, I never got full points on anything, always at least .5 points would be taken off for small things. She has A LOT of reading. At least 30 pgs for each class period. Also lots of group projects, they were fun but really dependent on your group. Pop quizzes for readings.
Sister Robertson definitely knows what she's talking about, BUT she is the toughest grader I've ever had. She also assigns reading assignments that are very long & impossible to read. Make sure you at least skim the readings because there are several pop quizzes on the reading. I'll just say good luck because she's the only teacher for this class.
Sis. Robertson just wants us to put in work for her classes. If you pay attention to the lectures, take notes, and spend some time on the assignments, it's not that bad. I wish things were graded a little faster though.
Never will give full points on any assignment you do no matter how well you do them. Has favorites in the class and you know which ones they are. You read about 25 pages before each class period. You have to take her since she's the only professor available. Just hope you get put in the group with the students she likes!
This professor is the worst I've ever had! Her grading made no sense, and she never showed me my graded rubrics. I tried hard to get at least a B in the class but it's almost impossible. I feel like she's personally out for me. The one good thing about her is she's pretty nice and genuine.
She wasn't as tough as I expected. Work hard, engage in class, sit up front, and maintain eye contact. Prove your dedication, despite the challenging nature of the class. Just be aware, that she's a strict grader.
Sister Robertson's classes are very hard, but I think she means well by it. She gives feedback on all the assignments that get turned in so that you can improve them. Through the content of this class, you learn skills that will be very useful as a professional. Honestly, this class is what you make it. It can be miserable, or very helpful.
I was nervous after reading the reviews, but I loved Sister Robertson's class. It was tough, no question, but if you put in the work, you'll learn a lot. Pay attention, take notes, and ask questions. There's a lot of reading and quite a few tests, but she really doesn't want anyone to fail. She is super genuine and very experienced in the field.
I took Sister Robertson for Child150 and the sad thing is she's the only teacher for it. She does random pop quizzes on the reading that you're not told about at all. She will never grade your work 100% because she says that nobody is perfect and only Jesus is. I would never take this class again, just glad to have passed.
Good teacher
Really unfortunate that she is the only professor for this course!! She wasn't a really harsh grader and doesn't give any extra credit unless it was for the presentation center for one project. Other then that you need to make sure your assignments are clean and clear for a good grade!!!
Sister Robertson is a kind, considerate, positive professor. She is highly educated and experienced. I love listening to her stories and her lectures. She presents them in very engaging ways. To get an A, you need to read all of the assigned readings. Do not forget to do ALL parts of the assignment, and add a lot of detail! Respects all students
Sister Robertson rocks! She explains content so thoroughly, and I always felt prepared for exams. Although there are a couple pop quizzes, they are not difficult, and it really helps make sure you are ready for class each day. She is a tough grader at times, but she will grade generously for good effort:)
Worst class that I have ever had to take. She is a good person but an extremely harsh teacher and grader, with too high of expectations. If I could I would take this class online and remove her as an instructor for this class. She is the only instructor and the class isn't offered online, so good luck. You're gonna need it.
Really harsh and unfair grader.
I like Sister Robertson's lecture style, but her expectations for assignments were not clear and I never knew what she was looking for, which is hard because she is such a strict grader. She told me one of my assignments (that I put a lot of time and effort into) was a "waste of time". She is also really hard to contact outside of class.
Sister Robertson is a nice person but she gives the most confusing vague instructions, yet grades things super specifically. She takes whole class periods to explain how to do an assignment, and then changes her expectations the day before it is due. She never responses to emails or canvas messages so good luck getting a grade changed.
I cried several times because of this class. Be prepared to provide ungodly amounts of detail for each assignment in her class. Her expectations are very high, but her rubrics do not reflect that. Passing this class with an A is almost impossible. Best advice, start studying for the final at the beginning of the semester. Good luck!
She make me angerr >:[
I am so glad I never have to take this class again. She is the only professor that teaches the course so i had no other choice but to take it with her. The class is crazy backloaded. Be prepared for lots of reading and pop quizzes. Her grading system is unreasonable. You learn the same things from CHILD110. Pointless class, bad teacher
I liked her lectures a lot and I learned a lot of useful information. She has a lot of experience and tells great stories. She can be a tough grader but if you just put in the effort then you'll get full points. The only things I found difficult were the tests, I never felt quite prepared for them. And be prepared for quizzes on the pre readings!
She was not flexible for the needs of my classmates, especially at the end of the semester with her final test and project. Her grading rubric was not available online + I lost points bc her expectations weren't clear. The one pop quiz we had tanked my grade + getting perfect scores the rest of the semester wouldn't get my grade up to an A
Professor Robertson is an excellent professor if you're willing to work with her. In some of the large classes she can get a little overwhelmed, but she's great overall.
Harsh and unfair grader. Does not give clear expectations and then docks you on things that were not in the rubric.
It's a 100-level class but I felt like I could not get an A on anything I turned in! Class discussions weren't bad but grading was pretty harsh. I met with her about grades twice and didn't really feel like it helped. She told me the other teachers give too high of grades sometimes. Evan with a 100% on the final I couldn't get higher than an A-.
She has TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) and very clearly dislikes students who don't have the same political views as her
Sister Robertson is very knowledgeable; however, she is a very tough grader and hates giving out 100%. She is not clear on criteria but talks a lot so it can get confusing on what is required. Read ALL instructions on canvas because it is not always obvious what she expects. Do the reading because one failed pop quiz will tank your grade.
I'm honestly surprised how many people think she's a tough grader. I put effort into each assignment and got 100%. If you put effort and follow the rubric you'll be fine. Make sure you read for the pop quizzes and study for the tests.
