I took her class over the summer. She is awesome! Be sure to have your textbook as you need to complete chapter logs and submit them on companion. She has lots of fun activities in class that are much more helpful than lectures. Read the chapters for quizzes and tests!!! Great teacher, really just wants you to learn! Definitely recommend!!

I really enjoyed this course. She is an inspiring and interesting professor. Read at home. Take a quiz. Have a unique and fascinating lecture. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities, and it's fun to learn from a professor who really cares about her students. I plan on taking Media 10 with her next semester.

She's the bomb!! I learned so much about myself and the media in this class!!! You have to read the book on your own, which is kind of hard but it's worth it so you can do the fun stuff in class. I never knew so many things about the media before. Remember - Don't believe everything you think!!!!! Be sure to do the homework on time.

This class will totally change the way you see the world in terms of Media, Gender, and race. You see how the real world works in terms of media and advertising. It is a very helpful class to take for future knowledge and for credits. You do have to work to get your A in the class however. The thing that saved me in the class was the extra credit!

Took her for Media 1, then again for Media 10. Super fun group projects, and assignments are straight forward. Pretty easy A, and you actually learn stuff!!! Overall fantastic experience, my favorite prof ever. Wish she would teach every class at SMC!

Best class 1st sem in smc. She makes it interactive, hence made a lot of friends. I really like group presentations as they sharpens our public speaking for the future. She is a good lecturer and uses a lot of video material. Moreover, you learn a lot about stuff you ignore in your daily life. Take her people!

When I originally signed up for this class I was prepared to be bored, but it became one of my favorite classes. She's a great teacher, kind, funny, helpful, and just an overall great person. She taught me so many things about the media/history of media. Quizzes/tests are multiple choice which you get right out of the book. Definite must take.

totally a great professor. i learned so much about the media and about myself and how to be a better student and a better person which i will always try to be now, because i took this class. definitely take her! if you pay attention in class and do the work it will change your life.

I took her for Media 1 and 10 and she's great. I love her! She tells you on day 1 how to get an A. It's all based on points and it's really clear how to earn the points you need. She posts the grades on ecompanion all the time so all you have to do is keep track of your grade and do the homework to earn the points. She gives extra credit too.

best professor ever! i flunked the class but it was my own fault for not doing the homework. i will take her class over again in the fall. she never made me feel bad or dumb even when i didn't understand stuff she helped me alot and even though i flunked i still learned a lot more than i did before. shes nice and funny and really smart. take her.

She makes it fun but you still learn a LOT. I'll never watch tv or movies the same again. It's freaky how much the media effects us all and we don't even know it. You don't even know what you don't know about the media until you take her class. Show up, do the homework and you'll get an A. Simple enough. Take her!

I did more work in this class than in bio! She definitely makes you earn your grade, but she's clear about what it takes from day one and she's super fair about it. Lots of ways to earn points. I totally loved it. If you're willing to do the work, you can learn a lot and have a lot of fun, just make sure to turn in your homework on time!

I took her class for media 1 and then graduated SMC and transferred to UCLA. Then I took the bus from UCLA every week to take her for Media 10. It was my only good class last semester. I wish all my profs were as good as her.

This is by far one of the best teachers there is. There is 100 points of extra credit. It jumps you from an A to a B.. The class is super interesting and she does a great job lecturing. On the midterm and final you can use a notecard but you have to remind her. There are test, quizzes, blogs entries and group projects. Take this class!!!!

explains everything really well & offers 100 points of extra credit that you have the whole semester to complete. Participation/attendance matters but you enjoy the work you do. She doesnt read directly from textbook & you can feel her passion. Took her for media 1 & media 10. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND.

She is a great professor. Grading criteria is clear and online course material is organized. There is a lot of work, but the assignments are fun. Online classes can be difficult because there is often a divide between the professor and students, but she breaks that barrier. Students feel that she cares and wants us to succeed.

This professor is one of my all time favorites. I took both Media 10 & Media 1 and they are equally wonderful. Most of the classwork is done in groups so you'll get to know your classmates well. Her class is inspirational and fun. If you show up & do the work it's an easy A. She also offers great extra credit opportunities.

This was pretty much the best online class I've ever had. She's really organized and the instructions are clear. The workload is just right for a general ed college class and the homework was really fun and interesting and she's really responsive to questions and stuff. I'm looking forward to taking one of her classes again. She's great.

Took over the summer. Shes a great professor. I felt like there was a lot of work to do in a short time period but its doable. You just have to do the assignments, participate, and read the textbook for the tests. Projects were pretty interesting too. An easy A if you put in effort. Shes has a sense of humor also which is great, enjoyed the class!

When it comes to late homework she don't play. Besides that she's perfect. Take her for sure. Just do your work on time.

She's pretty straight forward about what you need to do to pass. There's a textbook chapter of reading due each week with a quiz the next class. For each chapter there is also a group that presents it to help you review for the quiz. It's a lot of material but it's pretty interesting, especially if you have a class that participates in discussions.

She is so sweet. I really thrived in her class. I believe that she values the students opinion and it helps them relate mass communications to their life. You learn a lot in this class in a fun way. 10/10 would recommend.

The class met on campus at first, but we had to take our class online in the middle of the semester for the pandemic and she did it like a pro. My other classes made it really hard and confusing to move to online, but her class was smooth and easy. She makes sure you're doing okay and checks in on you and really wants you to do good in her class.

Honestly, it was my first online class and I slacked HARD. I missed the first assignment completely, failed two quizzes with a low D and a did poorly on the first few tests. However, there is extra credit which helped out a lot, I didn't even. have the book which made it harder but managed to clutch with a B. Take her if you can

BY FAR one of the most intelligent and inspiring individuals it's a gift that she is teaching at this college! Highly educated and awarded w/a career & life experience that is mesmerizing, the way she teaches Media10 and it's affect on our society and culture over the years is so profound. I came away with a deeper perspective & self reflection.

Professor Lynn is a great lady. I truly learned a lot from her class. She has very clear guidelines on how to pass her class. I passed with flying colors. Seriously easy class. The only downside is that she requires students go to class. She makes a big point about how media 1 and 10 students have to go to class for some reason.

I would 100% take her again. The class is a breeze if you know how to understand media, and if you don't, it is still a great place to learn! There are many extra credit opportunities if you need it and she is easy to get a hold of if you require any help. She also leaves comments on all assignments so that is a huge plus!

Professor Dickinson. is so amazing. She provides some of the most thought-provoking and interesting work. There are only two assignments weekly: a discussion post and a small quiz. She grades on a point system. She gives very good feedback. You will end this course having learned a lot if you pay attention. If you're organized, you get done early!

For an eight-week course, you do two discussions/quizzes per week and two exams for the semester. She allows up to 100 extra credit points. If you are in the Scholars' program and need to fulfill units, TAKE HER! She is very clear on what she expects and even provides student examples on assignments to help you complete them. Great Professor!

She is a great professor. I took her class as an English major and former college newspaper editor thinking I wouldn't learn much, but I really did. Professor Dickinson gives good feedback on assignments. Also, I like how she doesn't issue too many assignments for her students. Everything can be completed in a decent amount of time.

One of the best professors at SMC. Assignments are super easy to understand, 2 attempts are given on quizzes, extra credit is available, and usually about 1-2 assignments due a week. There are some discussions, but they are very easy to do. Took her for Media 1 as well, both were flexible classes. Take her if possible!

I took Professor Dickinson for both Beginning Screenwriting and Advanced Screenwriting. I have to say that she showed me a whole new world of screenwriting and my screenwriting skills became SO MUCH BETTER after taking both of her classes. She is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend taking her as a professor. She is also very caring.

Took this class Fall 2023 and loved it! Super interesting topics regarding race/gender in the media, learned a lot. There's timed quizzes based on the textbook. Discussions and MCR's are pretty easy and didn't take long. She give examples for the MCR's and has a clear grading rubric. Great professor and interesting class, take her!

I took this course for IGETC over a winter session and it was great. We touched on topics of medias' history (i.e., when it began and how it was presented). There was a project but it was a piece of cake. I recommend this class if you're about grading.

She is the best professor I have had so far in two years of college. Everything is clear and she cares and she is very smart and very funny. This class was perfect! I wish it wasn't over.

I liked her a lot. There was a lot of work but it was mostly interesting. It was clear what to do and it felt like the grades were fair. She gives you a zero for doing the work late, but it was open to do early if you want and you can see what's coming up and when it will be due way in advance. Definitely a good class.

She also responds fairly quickly to emails which is amazing. I really do recommend taking her courses, just do the work and you'll get an A.

Great professor! I took this class as a quarter class, so I will admit there was an abundance of weekly work. Lectures are meaningful, and assignments are interesting. She always leaves feedback and will respond to an email if you send one. She has an extra credit option, I would recommend doing it, it will boost your grade a lot.
