I don't understand the people who have called her mean or said she uses vulgur language. She has bee very nice and helpful. Her tests are fairly difficult considering not much is covered in class but she offers extra credit & drops the lowest score.

Great prof. -witty and amusing...she made the tests and class interesting. Her tests are a little hard, but if you do the review sheet and go to review sessions, you'll do fine. She offers x-tra credit, so you really should do well in her class

Very fair and fairly easy

A very cheerful, helpful teacher, and for labs she just shows you the basics and lectures for about ten minutes, and then lets you go at it. Offers extra credit, and if you study for the quizzes, you're guaranteed an A in the course.

This is one of the only science class I've ever had that I actually understood what was going on for most of the time. She doesn't expect you to remember petty details and words. If you put a little time into studying and do the work, it's easy.

What's all the complaining about? Easy teacher and easy tests. If you take good notes, you don't even need the book. Stickler about makeing up test but EASY tests AND EASY FINAL. Just read your notes.

She is easy, and makes sure people can pass the course by offering study groups before class. However, can be irritated at times. Simply read the book and attend lecture, and you will do well.

Not a bad class to attend, but she can be very defensive if you question her. In the end, do some studying and you'll be fine.

Dr. Marquez is awesome! She is so nice and she takes a subject that probably would be boring and makes it interesting. The material is a little difficult if you're not a science major but she is very willing to help you if you are having trouble.

Nice prof, sorta cute too so makes you come to class. Easy tests, just show up in class and you will get at least a B.

Very willing to help, if sometimes moody. Gives plenty of opportunity to do well even if you are not rocking the exams. RE: post below, being on dept. probation at MU is probably a GOOD sign.

Overall, Marquez is a good prof. She's normally willing to help you if you have questions. She makes the information interesting for non-science majors. Her tests are fair and the final is easy (as long as you study the notes she gives in class).

Tests are a bit difficult, especially if you're not a science person, but she's pretty easygoing. Pretty cool to talk with outside of class. Still let me take the final even though I walked in a half hour late.

You may have to spend some time in her office to get her to clarify what she really wants you do, but overall I liked her and her class. I don't consider myself anyones pet. Most females don't like her because the guys like her.

Dr. Marquez rocks the house. And yes, I am one of her pets. Just show up hung over to class and she'll love you.

I really like this class. She has a dry sarcasm, that I found amusing. Her tests were challenging but not impossible. I wasn’t a science major, and I didn’t find the class too insanely impossible. Definitely recommend.

Hot Prof. Lots of information in class, ask questions if you don't understand. If you feel the need to reiterate points that were made right after your question or don't understand this sentence don't take the class. If you go to church on Sundays or believe in a god of some sort don't take.

first shes hot, second, extra gredit can raise your grade 10%, third the lec was only 60 percent of classs so if you didnt do well its your own fault, it doesnt hurt to both read the book and study notes and attend class...all your fault, was my only A of semester

Class is so easy if you just take good notes and study them. Didn't use a book if there was one. She's so nice too. Very down to earth and fun. Thought about a science minor because of her--wish I had time to take another class.

Everything she talks about is in the book. Write down every diagram you see, they will pop up sometime in the exams. Final made from past exams. Very easy, so long as you study. Easy extra credit, also. Has a sarcastic sense of humor, which some people hate. Got an A- in this class.

Good professor. Cute and funny. Dont ask stupid questions or come up with lame excuses, she will gut you like a fish. She knows her stuff. Tests are not too difficult. Lectures can be boring, but I have sat through worse. I loved it when she brought her dog to class.

I like Dr. Marquez. She's a nice person and cut me some slack many times I didn't deserve it. Her tests are challenging, but everything is right in your notes.

She is incredible!! She is very knowledgable and a great professor! She gives lots of extra credit and her final is straight from the tests you take during the semester. She is saracastic, so if you can't take a joke, don't take her. The class is not easy, but their are plenty of opportunities to get an A.

I'm writting this just so people don't think she is all bad. She is a great teacher, it is just very hard. She doesn't believe in grade inflation, which upsets the people who have taken this class also. All of her notes are on a powerpoint, and her tests are literally straight from the notes. If you go and meet with her in hours she'll love you!

Her tests are rediculously hard but she does try really hard to meet you at your level. She even came up and talked to my friend and I for a little before the class started just to see how things were going and to make sure that we were understanding things okay. She's very passionate about what she does.

Marquez is a great teacher!! She is extremely hard though, I have never worked or studied so much for a single test before ever. But...if you go to her she is very helpful and nice as long as your on her good side, sad to say. If you take her, just show up to every class and meet with her before tests. It helped me!!!!

Dr.Marquez is awesome. Notes are right from powerpoint, she will take the time to explain if you ask. Very knowledgable. She left us out of class early multiple times for nice weather or because she admitted we had been writing a lot. You are going to have to work a little, but overall a lot of fun and very helpful if you JUST ASK.

This class is very challenging, HOWEVER, she knows what shes talking about. The exams are tricky, but it's nto because of her, it's because of the information. She is a good prof, she just requires alot of work.

You have to get to know her on a personal level. Once you do she's really helpful with the material. for the class- be sure to study a lot. it isn't easy but if you apply yourself you'll be fine. study at the course objectives online and don't forget the online quizzes she posts. they really do help with learning the material and retaining it.

Nice lady, very hard class. This is college and she acts like it is. A lot of work and really tough quizzes. However, she makes herself easy to contact for help. Good teaching ability too, just a tough class.

Dr. Marquez is definitley the true definition of a college professor. If you want a good grade you will have to earn it! I would advise to go over the essays with her before you type them, she is VERY picky on what you put in them. Beyond that, study hard for tests and you will do fine. Tough class, but very rewarding. She is also very helpful

Marquez is an amazing professor. She's nice, helpful, funny, keeps class interesting. She does not take attendance, but 5% of your grade is accumulated with PRS in class only. Weekly online quiz out of book. Notes straight from book. Do not have to attend class, but it's helpful to do so. TONS of extra credit, always answers questions.

Dr. Marquez is one of the greatest professors at this university. She knows the material extremely well, and she can teach it in a manner that is easily understandable. She is also very helpful outside class. On a side note, do not take her class if you want to breeze through. She will definitely make you work.

interesting class. shes a genius. her tests are EXTREMELY tricky. however if you need help shes always always willing to help. if you answer all the "learning objectives" thats what she uses for test questions. essays are very hard on tests- must be 100% correct or she'll take all points. not one for BS'ing- she'll call you on it. but SOO NICE!

She's a very good professor, but requires a lot of work. This is college though, so you can't just breeze through like you can with some classes. She really makes you earn your grade. She's fun to work with and really gets to know her students.

I honestly think she's a good professor. Yeah, she has times where she isn't the nicest person, but she's really smart and makes it kind of interesting (seeing that I'm horible at Science), and she even held review sessions for tests on days where we didn't have class. I personally think she's nice and helpful during office hours, too.

Marquez is a fantastic professor. She is a little intimidating but if you are a student who does their work and attends class you will be fine! She is always willing to help you and she's great help. Just don't give her attitude or you'll get it right back. You need the textbook but only for online quizzes you don't have to do any reading.

Her class was great. I took her Origin and Evolution of the Earth class online for summer session 1 and she was very clear and helpful and the tests weren't too bad as long as you studied and took notes on what you were supposed to. Even if you aren't really big on science classes, you'd still love her class.

I had her for Lab. She is a good teacher. Tests are a little difficult but not impossible to prepare for. The rest of the graded material is simple enough if you are interested in the subject.

She is a great educator. You will find yourself learning a lot during her lectures. She explains everything clearly and is willing to explain it if you ask. The exams very are hard though. They are all multiple choice and are very tricky. The final was cumulative but it was easier than the individual exams. Questions come right from other exams.

I took her online course and it was hard and time consuming. However, many of the questions from the quizzes showed up on the exams. There were some trick questions but if you read the material and fill out the learning objectives like she recommends, then the class is pretty fair. She is also quick to respond and clarify questions.

I think Marquez can't deal with people that aren't willing to try. She is somewhat cryptic but she's trying to get her students to figure things out for themselves and really understand. If you go to her office hours and use the advice she gives you for a paper/test it will pay off. Don't take any of her classes if you don't want to put in the work

Dr. Marquez is an amazing professor, I have so much respect for her. She has helped me enormously. She's there to help but, you have to show her not only that you are trying, but that you're trying your very best. I had struggled in her class but, I did all my work and wen't to her office hours all the time and I am very happy that I did.

Clear, straight forward, witty. Challenges students to understand concepts on a more fundamental level. Provides all the material you need to succeed.

I really appreciated her as a professor. Gave me extra time to take a test when I had missed one of her classes and did not get the chance to study due to life events. Works to help teach students how to study. Fair grader, overall. She expects you to read the textbook, though I did not need to. I really liked her.

Taken multiple classes with her, and while she expects a lot out of her students its for the best. You really need to invest your time into her class, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. She is super caring and will help you with whatever you need as long as you prove that you are trying your best. If you study her slides you'll do good.

Do NOT take her courses as a gen ed. Marquez is a great professor for students who actually want to gain something from her courses and she's great if the class is related to your major, but if you're not dedicated you'll find it very difficult. If you are struggling though she is very lenient if you just reach out and be honest.

I had Dr. Marquez over summer 3 for an ESCI 102 course and it was great! I learned a lot and felt that the course was worthwhile to expand your basic knowledge of earth science. It was one of the few courses ive taken that I can say I benefited from. It was test-heavy as tests were the only thing she offered for points. No assignments/homework.
