class is informative, but was deceiving at first. the first test, i didn't even study for and got an 89. the second one, i studied hard and failed. nice interactive, wellinformed teacher.
Pretty cool teacher, very easy to get along with. Her class is informative, but her tests are a little challenging.
Lynn was very laid back, but she really got down to business when it came to quizes and exams. You will not get by without doing your homework or reading your book, so be sure to do that if you want a good grade. She is an execellent teacher though!
GREAT PROF.
I was really not looking forward to this class, but Lynn is AWESOME. She's really funny and makes class fun, even though the subject is kinda boring.
Lynn's really easy to talk to outside of class, really helpful. Every so often she seems to get side tracked, but once class gets going it's great. And a three-hour, once-a-week class with her gets cookies. You can't beat that.
Great Prof, inside and outside of class. Loves U2, cookies, and messing with tall basketball players.
great teacher, tests are pretty easy but, watch out for those writing prompts.
Great teacher! She makes it a point to get to know her students... all 200 of them! If you go to class and take notes you should pull a B without any problem.
I thought this class was a lot harder than I expected it to be, based on the reviews on here, however I soon found out that wasn't the case. She treats the class like a kindergarden class, and her tests are pretty hard. She grades the writing prompts really hard also.Don't take this class for an easy A
Great teacher and a wonderful person! She's so easy to get along with and tries really hard to get to know every single one of her students. Her class was relatively easy -- just get ready for a lot of memorization.

She is a wonderful teacher who has opened my eyes and is never afraid to teach us a different view about something, no matter how risky it is.

This class was just an elective filler for me but Lynn makes it really interesting and she's a great person. She is really passionate about what she teaches and you should definately take her!
Don't be fooled. At the begining it was easy and toward the end it gets worse. She is a cool lady but a BAD teacher. She is so scatterbrain that she can't keep her notes together. She copies and pastes her notes from the internet. 75% of the tests is NOT talked about in class and she is very picky. Don't take this class unless you are a mindreader.
This lady can't admit if she's wrong about something so it's best to just let it slide if she marks you down for something that's her fault. Because if you approach her on it, she will hold it against you for the rest of the semester. Her tests don't correlate much with the notes, very textbook oriented, so you HAVE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK!
she sucks
Good person but horrible teacher. Dont go by study guide for test, harldy anything on study guide is on test. She also grades the writing prompts very hard! Not and easy A class
she is a nice lady and a good teacher, but this class is ridiculously hard. it's hard to know what to study for.. and even if you study, the tests are still realllly difficult.
she's cool but her tests are so hard and really random...i barely got a B
Not a very nice professor. Won't email notes to students who miss class while in the hospital. Too busy trying to be cool to actually teach what is on the exam and still puts the info on the exam.
Very easy class. Each test is about a certain area of non-western world (sub-saharan africa, south asia, SE asia, etc...) which usually consist of a chapter a piece. Just skim through the chapters and go to class and listen.
I hated this class. It was an easy A but she was a horrible teacher. Cared more about being funny than teaching the stuff that was on the exams.
I would say that she is a sweet and helpful person, but her classes are ridiculous in what they cover and actually only represent about 10% of what is actually on the exam. I thought that I would have an easy A, and I am struggling to get a B because she makes her test so comprehensive when her classes are random and about starving kids in Africa.
Phillps is tight, she keeps it interesting. Lots of notes so take a laptop but lecture is still fairly entertaining. Gives lots of grades to boost your exam scores. take this class!
i asked for help becuase i didnt understand and she responded with "its not rocket science"..arent you supposed to ask question if you are lost?
what a cookie monster. loves Free Tibet. Lynn tries to be cool by blasting music and dancing around to it before class. study the BOOK! most of your exam questions will be on it. hardly anything from class is on the test besides ?s from the movies. know your map. that means all the countries and capitals. which suchs learning all of Africa
She tries to be cool rather than teach. The material was interesting but her biased views on some topics turned me away. The tests are hard. If you don't go to class make sure you know everything in the book.
I didn't like Phillips due to her lack of respect for our president and CONSTANT ridicule of him. Also she CONSTANTLY pushes students to donate money to third world countries....
Grading for writing prompts are completely random and unfair I received an 80 instead of a 100 becuase she said i was missing ONE date. hardly any of the material reviewed in class is on the test. She thinks she's soo cool but she's in reality she as well as her notes are very dated. Students correct her often. Avoid at all costs.
She is extremely helpful in office hours. She definitely clears everything up if you visit her before a test.
Amazing
good class. solid teacher. lynn is who you want for geo 160
Loved her
She's a great teacher! The information was not very interesting, but she teaches it so you can actually understand it. If you can memorize maps easily, this class is for you!
teaches about 20% of the test, the rest is up to you from the book. in class activities are trivial.
She rocks....
i was really excited to take this class with her because i had always heard wonderful things about her... but i was disappointed. i hated this class ! she talked about random stuff in class and then when exam time came around you had to learn the real material.
This class was really frustrating because she never stayed on topic during lectures, but the exams were over what we were supposed to have learned. It's really difficult to teach yourself things about the non-western world and she didn't do a very good job of teaching them in class. Overall, this class was just frustrating.
Teaches nothing about what the test is on, but in turn makes the tests easy. She tells you what to study specifically, so putting an hour into it the night before leaves you with an easy B. We had cookies in class every day and just hung out. Gave us all kinds of grade boosters so tests wouldn't screw us and boosted my B to an A. Real cool.
Good class...gets off TOPIC!..a lot of test material is not covered in class so it makes it hard to study! Homework and Writing Assignments are really helpful for studying!
fun and conversational, strays off topic but covers pretty much everything that will be on the tests, I found them easy without much study. Just go to class and pay attention and you will do fine.
i got an A in this class, but read my entire text book. If u are not willing to do this, do not take this class- or you will fail. If u are willing, read about 10 pages a day and take notes. The night before the test review the notes and u will do just fine!
I loved this class, she is a strict teacher but you get used to it. I learned so much in this class, and she makes it interesting!
Not awful, not great. She told us that we didn't need to read the text for the first exam, then about 10% of the questions were from the text. The tests aren't killer, but they aren't cake either. The quizzes are at-home but they take a lot of time and are somewhat challenging. The class is pretty interesting and Lynn is very friendly. Class is ok.
Hated this class. She never stays on topic, and rarely lectures what is going to be on the exam.
Lynn is a character, that's for sure. She's very friendly and funny. I love going to her class, however she has a really hard time staying on topic. Also, her knowledge on the environment wasn't very solid. All you really have to do is read the notes she posts online, skim the book, and do the online quizzes.
Middle of the road class. Ms. Phillips is a good and engaging teacher, it's just the material is boring as can be. Tests are not too hard, but not easy by any means. Studying is defiantly required. I would suggest Ms. Phillips as a teacher, but GEO 160 you should pass on if at all possible.
The class material can become boring at times but Lynn does the best to keep it interesting. She is fun and not too strict. Her exams can be a little bit difficult but she posts all the notes and information on blackboard. If you study a little bit, this class is an easy A
She is a very nice lady and really knows and is interested in what she is teaching, but makes her tests very difficult. They are definitely not 100 level class tests. You MUST read and understand all of the chapters and be prepared for very hard, confusing questions.
Very nice person and helpful with things outside of class if you are truly interested in how local government works. However, she is not a very easy teacher. She grades writing very hard and has almost incomprehensible notes she gives you. She also expects you to read more than grad students.
Class requires tremendous reading out of book and test are extremely hard. The first one is easy but the second one and on has 50 questions plus a map of the country you are currently studying. You will need to know the country, capital, and 2nd largest city.
Her tests are near impossible. I went to every class prior to first test, read the text book, completed the entire study guide and took notes and read over the notes online yet still managed to only get a 72, all of my friends did the same thing and got low 70s. If you're going to expect us to listen to something you say Lynn, test us over it.
I'm not sure who all rated this class as easy, or Lynn for that matter as a good professor. Lynn is awful, she doesn't teach half the material that's on the test. The test are hard as crap, they have nothing to do with her lectures! YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK! Nate Millington was an awesome T.A , but seriously... the professor has got to go!!!!
This was a class that I was told would be an easy A and a good way to get my cross cultural course out of the way. It turned out, her tests were extremely difficult and focused on little details rather than the major points focused on in class and on the study guide. I do not know why she has decided that a 100 level course should be this tedious.
The class is incredibly boring and the material presented is far from acceptable. The test are extremely detail oriented and do not reflect what is taught in class. Found that the only real way to study for the test are to basically read/study the book. Lynn's study guides are a joke and will not help you on the test.
I've taken Lynn for both 160 and 235, and it's obvious that those who recently reviewed her either didn't go to class, read the book, or both. This is college, you have to make the effort in order to do well. Her exams are really not bad at all if you study. Reading is a must, as most of the exams come from the book. Her classes truly aren't hard.
Mrs. Philips is a terrible teacher. She is not qualified to lecture about the topics presented in GEO 160 and constantly gets fundamental things wrong. As a major in my senior year who took this class as an elective, I can she should not be teaching. Take what she says with a grain of salt. Also, you have to learn what is on the test yourself.
Dr. Phillips is very nice and can be VERY helpful if you seek her out during office hours. Tests are all from reading the textbook but you can learn a lot of what you're supposed to know by going to lecture and taking notes. Don't be a baby about maps, learn them. She notices when you don't show up to lecture. This course can be very interesting.
I've been to every lecture and find it very hard to take notes. She teaches off of a word document and scrolls down the page feeding you a lot of statistics throughout class. She teaches until the very last minute and sometimes beyond because she tends to get off topic. The chapters are fairly long but reading them is a must. Overall not enjoyable
Her lectures are poorly planned and she never gets through her notes-which aren't written well anyway. Her tests have nothing to do with her notes or even with her review sheets, which contain three times as many topics as are on the test and still leave out important points. I got an A b/c I knew the material going in, not b/c I learned from her.
One of the least enjoyable classes I have ever taken. The tests are easy if you skim the notes and read the book, but her lectures are almost unbearable. She is incredibly biased and tries to force her opinions on you--But her facts are often incorrect. Don't trust her!
I liked this class, but the way that it was taught I thought that i could just study on my own and not go to class, But i found myself not studying at all. It is very interesting, i would recommend this class, but only if you plan on going to class.
This professor is a total sweet heart. If your a student who tires real hard and goes to her office hours she'll help you out. Although I found her test to be extremely hard. But her class is very interesting even for people who really don't have an interest in geography. For the test you have to read the text book to get above a D on her test.
Never went to class. Did not buy the book. Got an A. Although the class averages on her exams were not very high.
She is so sweet! She ALWAYS walks into class with a smile on her face and sometimes gives out candy. I did not always go to lecture because they aren't mandatory, but the recitations are. The only reason I got an A in the class even though I didn't go all the time was because I read every chapter that we covered. Interesting class too!
This is a hard class for a 100 level. She is pretty annoying honestly. The online quizes are impossible and there is a ton of reading
I loved her as a professor, very personable, but the class was way harder than it should be. Don't take it expecting it to be an easy elective. I went to every class, read every chapter, and met with my TA a couple of time and still ended up with a B. However, her lectures are normally pretty interesting.
She's an awesome person; very entertaining and nice, but her tests are way too hard. I always took notes and even read a lot of the chapters, but still couldn't get an A (and I usually get As). Take this class with a different professor for sure.
Although she was helpful if you visited her office hours, she made the class way harder than it needed to be- especially since its a 100 level elective. The lectures were boring and the tests were very difficult- even after studying and reading the chapters. Wouldnt recommend this class to anyone.
HARD TESTS , NICE TEACHER AND REALLY HELPFUL , TAKE THIS PROF IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY , SHE IS GOING TO HELP YOU AND IF YOU WORK A LITTLE YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A B OR AN A
Lynn is by far my favorite professor I've had at UK. Took her for GEO which was a requirement. Didn't think I would like the class but she made me LOVE it. I would definitely recommend her! Tests weren't too hard. Recitation was required but if you get a good TA, it'll be fun and interesting.
tests and quizzes are impossible. she does nothing to help you prepare for them either.
Lynn is a really friendly teacher and an easy A, but she has the longest lectures and they are so boring. I watched Netflix with the sound off every class I went to of hers... Find something productive to do. She assigns a lot of projects for this class and hardly gives you time to do them. Also, she hates if you are late to her class.
You definitely need to study and work hard for your grade. She's a VERY nice person and will work with you! Going to her office hours helps so much. She gives one big paper but it's pretty open and isn't too bad. Her tests are very tough though. Her expectations for the class are not very clear but every point counts.
Tests are tough and you will have to work for it. Lectures are long and boring and usually don't even make sense. Definitely buy the book and use online resources. She will help you if you ask.
She uses powerpoint that have a lot of useless information. You never know what will be on the test. She is a really hard grader when it comes to essays. Come to class or else she'll call you out when you finally come. IF you're taking this as a core, take something else.
Lectures are long and pointless. She talks about things that aren't even on the test and her powerpoints are always random and confusing. You HAVE to read the book. Online homework and quizzes are easy but the tests are impossible. I'm a straight A person but I'll be content with a C in this class.
No attendance is taken at class, but she knows who comes and who doesn't. Very liberal and close-minded, if a student says something that counter-points what she says, she will belittle that person. A nice lady outside the classroom, but as a professor she is lazy and does nothing to make it easier on her students.
She is an awesome professor. Not sure why she has such a low rating. She gives you study guides for the exams and the exams are exactly what's on the study guides.
Lynn is a great professor. Very active in the class and the community. I have taken two classes Geo406 and intro to urban planning. The field study class was a blast and very hands on and interactive. Urban planning is interesting but the night class makes it hard to stay awake at times. Her classes are not that hard if you read.
Lynn is one of the best teachers I've had at UK thus far. She is incredibly nice, personable, compassionate, understanding, liberal, open-minded, and a true individual. I am not a fan necessarily of geography but she made the class possible for me to do well in. She is always willing to help if you ask. You really have to come to class/get book!
Best Professor I have ever had and this is my 3rd year in school. Lynn is always willing to help you and is very negotiable. The tests have a lot of material from the lecture and the book. Although attendance is not mandatory, coming to class will help on the exams. Do your work and come to class, stop by her office a few times and youre good.
My favorite professor of my first year hands down. interesting coursework and topics so you won't care about the work (there's a decent amount). Overall she's really kind, just show up to class and do work and its an A.
This professor is very kind in class, but is an extremely hard grader and her lectures and notes are totally unrelated to the tests. When she does give study guides they are also very unhelpful in studying for the exam. I would not recommend taking her at all.
She's a great person, but her lectures are irrelevant to what is tested on. Also the things that are tested on are generally concepts that aren't generally accepted/ not googleable, so i'm not really confident i've learned real geography rather than hearing opinions and stories/ seeing pictures from a world traveler. Tests are ridiculously hard
As a person she is wonderful, but as a professor she is a NO GO. Her lectures are ridiculously long and completely irrelevant to anything on her tests. She gives "study guides" that are just random topics with no knowledge of what she wants you to know. She even sent us quizlets that answered her study guide questions but NONE of that was on test.
She was nice but the class was not well organized and you kind of get set up to not do well.
Do not take this class unless you are good at geography. All the assignments are online and there are only 5 total . They are hard and graded even harder. 3 exams and if you dont read, you wont pass. If you dont show up to lectures you will not understand the material. Class attendance is not mandatory whatsoever, however it will help a great deal
Its hard to explain Lynn. I LOVE her. I usually hate class set up like hers but man shes such an amazing teacher. If you give her a chance to open up, shes fantastic. I suck at school and I got a B. It wasn't easy but Lynn made it worth it. I think shes a cool AF. Get the textbook and read it. You'll be fine. Shes chill if you're real with her.
As a person, Lynn is fabulous. She sincerely cares about her students. However, this class is difficult. She goes too fast during lecture and often rambles. The exams have content on them that aren't covered on the study guide. I took this just for a uk core credit and it dropped my gpa significantly. Don't take this class unless you HAVE to.
Easily one of the worst professors I've had. She wastes class time with off-topic conversations and then expects you to teach yourself the complete history and geography of the world. Read the textbook closely because test questions are super random details from the book. Study for tests weeks in advance because its a lot of memorization.
Im rating this professor with all honesty. She IS AWESOME! Reading all the previous reviews, I was hecka nervous for myself because you guys scared me. What the heck, first day in class and shes awesome! Maybe the reviewers dont care to learn about the environment/policy. The class Im in hasnt been taught in a couple years.
Exams are very difficult but balanced with other work.
I took this class for a UK core and it has been the easiest class I've ever taken. Phillips is the nicest, most caring person, and she was very accommodating when I had mono. This class is an easy A if you read the textbook; it's all memorization.
Really cool teacher who cares about the students she teaches. Not too much asked of you in the class but she made it enjoyable!
Lynn is the most caring and passionate teacher I have ever had. She cares so much about her students and cares that we can use this information to be better citizens. She wants us to learn and succeed both as students and people. I wanted to please her. She was so passionate about her subject and made all of her students excited too.
She is a good professor but I would not take her again unless I had to. We did not have many assignments, so you need to do well on everything. Her slideshows were annoying because you never know what is important and they are super long. She posts slides though so attendance is not necessary.
she doesnt grade anything, the rude TA does, then doesnt give feedback. Also returns grades back super late. Weekly assignments, seems easy, but have to read 5 articles and watch a movie for 100 words. Worst 100 level class I've taken.
This class was 5 times harder than it had to be because of how harsh the grading of the weekly assignments is with no grading criteria. She doesn't do any of the grading and the TA is always behind and doesn't leave comments. The tests were easy, but she treats the class is much more important than just a core class, which its not.
I really enjoyed taking this professor. Lectures are not mandatory but are highly recommended. Although her lectures could sometimes stray off topic she covers everything that is on the test. She is a really nice professor and cares about her students sucess.
Lynn has been one of the best professors Ive had at UK. She had been very caring and understanding during this weird online semester. Lectures can be interesting when she talks about her experiences. Weekly papers but they arent super hard and dont take long. Standard 3 exams. Youll be fine on exams/quizzes if you listen in class
worst teacher ive ever taken. extremely rude and does not care about a students mental health, and is not accommodating despite being in a pandemic. her class sucks and is un interesting. the exams arent bad because its open book, but the ta is quite rude too. worst 100 level class ive taken.
Good teacher. Leans to the left when lecturing but still has interesting lectures nonetheless. Tests are open book and pretty easy if you attend the lectures. Homework was a breeze and took about 30 minutes to an hour each week. Easy A only problem is dealing with the TA who is very opinionated when grading.
I really felt enjoyed this course. I highly recommend listening to her lectures, they are extremely informative. Her TA did grade pretty unfairly, however I never got a grade below a C. If you put in a standard amount of effort, you will finish with an A or B. Make sure to turn in assignments on time and you will be set!
This profesor was very nice but a horrible teacher. Her lectures had nothing to do with our exams whatsoever and that was what our grade was based off. There was never study guides and we were never told what to exactly study for. On top of that, her notes were all over the place and they had nothing to do with the exams as well.
This class was not too difficult, I however was not interested in the topic but the professor made it better. She is very kind and understanding but does not let late assignment slide. Her exams are noticeably more difficult that the class work but if you are looking for an easy B, I recommend this class.
Lynn is extremely caring but an awful teacher. She is very lecture heavy, that is the only way she teaches. Attendance is not taken but if you don't come to class you can't get the notes. In this course, there were three exams, each 20% of your grade. If you aren't good with tests, don't take this class. The only positive is there is minimal hw.
Professor Phillips was great but my oh my was the TA unfair at grading. The first 6 weeks were fine but then she just started grading papers with no feedback and they were not the best grades. Honestly a little heated that I never even received feedback for some of these grades. If there is a new TA I would 100% take this class again.
Professor Phillips was amazing! You can tell she really just wants her students to know more about the world and what is happening outside of our own bubble. She made class interesting always, and the topics for weekly assignments were as well! However, the TA did not grade the weekly assignments fairly and rarely gave feedback.
She is so unorganized and very cluttered. Her powerpoints are never in order and uses maybe 1/4 of the 100 slides she puts online. She spends less than one minute on a slide so you can't get the information down and then covers 5 chapters expecting you to know literally everything she says in lecture plus stuff from the book on one exam horrible.
Dr. Phillips is a very caring professor. However, her way of teaching is very poor. She will rush through her PowerPoint during lecture. Her notes have very little wordage and if there are notes to write down she won't even give you time to write them. The exams cover hardly anything discussed in class and you'll have to find everything in the book
She is a very nice lady outside of class, but her class is very lecture heavy. The whole class is based off a powerpoint and she gives no time to write them down for notes. Each test is 20% of your final grade and she doesnt teach half the stuff thats on the tests. One upside is theres only 1 homework assignment a week.
She was one of the worst professors Ive had. Her lectures are completely off topic of her tests, and each test has a huge impact on the course. A benefit is theres only 1 hw assignment weekly but beyond that this class was awful for me
Very nice and caring professor, but the lectures were literally pointless, most of the time she was off topic, discussing things that just were not on the tests. There we're 2 exams and a final all semester which wasn't terrible. I only went to a few lectures because every time I went she would not give enough time to write notes. Easy B though
Do. Not. Take. This. Class. She changed our 2nd exam from online to in-person two days before and changes it between aopen note and closed note exams. Her notes are extremely unorganized and her lectures do not make sense. She is such a caring person but should not be teaching this class. I am a 4.0 student and I got a B and struggled. Most dropped
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. Lectures don't relate to the homework at all. She'll test you on things she MIGHT have mentioned once. No clarity on grading criteria either. THE LEAST UNACCOMMODATING TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. You can just tell she puts no effort into the class, and doesn't care about her students success.
Personally not my favorite style of teaching or lecturing. There was a lot to cover in not a lot of time and seemed very rushed and many things were skipped. The tests aren't super hard but there always seemed to be things on it that I never remember covering in lectures. Lynn was a sweetheart as a person, but I did not like her teaching style.
Lynn is an absolute queen. Get to know her well, and the class is so much better! She may be strict on policy, but she is someone I feel like I could be friends with on the low. Her lectures never fail to keep me engaged. Great course, great professor.
She says attendance is necessary, but if you do the readings you'll get by fine. not much homework at all besides one easy assignment every week. Maybe one or two quizzes in the semester, all online, exams are very easy.
Lynn is a sweet person. Her classes are very lecture heavy and the tests weigh heavy on your grade. She is extremely liberal and projects her views on her students. She incorporates her political views in her lectures. Overall, her class was pretty easy but you have to study for her exams.
All exams are based on things she says in lectures so if you come to class, you'll do well. She's a super understanding teacher & if you make an effort you'll easily pass. The textbook isn't necessary & theres only one assignment per week. She's a super sweet lady who wants to see kids put the effort in to succeed.
Doesn't teach at all. Lectures do NOT relate to the exam. Average exam scores for all her tests 64%. You can see this on canvas but she will lie about the actual class average. Spreads her liberal views all semester long. Masks always required. DO NOT TAKE. First C I have ever gotten in my life and it was an elective. Worst teacher I've ever had.
Do Not Take This Teacher! Her lectures and power points do not match tests. Very unorganized. Instead of teaching, emphasizes classes on her political views. Average test score for all exams was 64%. Terrible!
Class is unorganized and class content is not typically on exams. Class is very easy, but the grading system for homework is seemingly random.
Lynn can sweet but I hated her class. She project her liberal word vomit on students. She made a huge email at the end of the semester threatening to prosecute students for asking her to bump their final percentage. Honestly, not a class people should take if theyre looking for something easy.
Dr. Phillips is such a nice person and very caring! However, her course was very difficult and hard to understand. I struggled to get an A, and it was my only UK core class. If you meet with her after tests, she will more than likely give you a lot of points back. Overall, great lady, but not that great of a teacher.
Dr. Phillips is a good professor. Unfortunately, her lectures are peppered with political opinions. She is very respectable and certainly knows her subject. Sit up front, pay attention, and don't miss class (this is very important to be a good student from her perspective). Do not expect an easy A.
Dr. Phillips is a kind, she really does care about her students. The only issue with her class is how a lot of her lectures do not correlate with certain test questions, and her study guide isn't always entirely accurate. No attendance is taken, and you can survive without the textbook. Not a hard class, you just need to pay attention and go.
Dr. Phillips is very sweet. She often talks about being a mom, and that is often apparent in the way she asks students questions about their lives and how they're doing. The textbook is helpful to have because many of the quiz/test questions pull from it. There isn't much for this class and you learn about several different environmental topics.
The grading criteria is a joke and the class is so lecture/test heavy. Very little points are earned in assignments.
Dr. Lynn is an amazing and caring person, but the Class is not easy.
Lynn is an amazing lecturer. While attendance is not mandatory showing up to class is very important to do well on the exams being that the class is very exam heavy. You can tell that she cares about all of her students and genuinely wants them to do well. She also makes her lectures very engaging. I wish all of my classes could be taught by Lynn.
Lynn is a terrible professor. She does not care about her students passing the class and she will do whatever it takes to punish her students instead of help them succeed. She is truly terrible. Think twice before choosing her.
Would not let me makeup an exam even though I had a University excuse for it. The exams have nothing to do with the lecture or study guides she provides, its all from the textbook. Theres barely any chance to earn points so you have to rely on the 3 exams and hope you do well.
Very rude and snarky. Her lectures contain a lot of political statements even whenever not relative to the lecture. Ignores and never answers her emails even though she loves talking about her 36-hour response time as said on the syllabus. Does not care about her students at all or understand that life happens outside of academics.
This class is extremely hard to study for. Assignments are very easy and don't take a lot of time. For exams you are told to study your notes, reading material, and even a study guide but none of this material is on the exam. The exams are ultimately guessing games.
The class isn't mandatory, lot's of students don't go unless it's exam day. You don't miss much by not going to class as the exams have nothing to do with class notes but on the book. Make sure you get the book and make a study guide off of the book and not notes. She's not very understanding or willing to give help or talk to.
Course material learned in class was not related to study guide or exams at all.
Dr.Phillips is such a sweet woman. I felt as if she cared for her students and made an effort to create relationships with us. However, her exams do not correlate with what she teaches in her lectures. I went to class, took notes, and studied yet still continued to fail the exams. Almost just guessing games.
Dr. Phillips was very nice and funny but the class was pretty uninteresting. It was all lecture. The exams were kind of hard and it wasn't super clear what we were being tested on especially because they lectures were very information packed. It was a decent amount of reading but there was never much homework. Attendance wasn't necessary.
This class was pretty easy. Attendance was not mandatory but she is very lecture heavy and if you show up you can pass the class. I would recommend going anyways. She is a great professor and her work isn't that difficult either. She recommends the book for class but it's not required by any means. Just a good class to take.
I have taken every class Lynn offers and I can't recommend her enough. Great professor, an even better person and mentor.
Dr. Lynn was the highlight of my day every time I had her class. I found the content relatively difficult but she wads always available and made time to talk to me, whether class related or just about life. She genuinely cares for all of her students.
She heavily pushes her liberal ideology in class and it can get quite excessive. There are only 5 assignments that are fairly easy but are graded harshly with no rubric to refer to. Three exams that make up the majority of your grade all of which include questions not included in the lecture, book, or study guide. I would not recommend taking her.
Super awesome professor that is really knowledgeable about the subject. Exams are kind of difficult as the questions are pretty specific so take notes and pay attention. There are 3 exams with 40 multiple choice questions each that are worth a total of 40% of your grade. Almost no homework but the TA grades them way too harshly.
Professor Phillips is very knowledgeable, and her lectures are fun and interesting if you are paying attention. However, there are not many assignments other than exams in this class, and her TA grades them way too harshly. It takes weeks to get results back from assignments that were only 100-word essays. Great teacher, TA not so great.
this class was veryyyyyy hard
She pushes her ideology quite heavily, which I do not take much care too, but rather she go over material that would be on the exams. Taking notes is hard because she goes through the slides so quickly, but it does not matter since whatever you learn in class will not be on the exam. She does not care about student success, only her paycheck.
This class was very hard because the exams were not based on the textbook or lecture notes or even the study guide. The quizzes she gave us could not find anything in the textbook to answer the questions.
She makes exams only out of 20 points and the only other grades going in are modules which she grades very hard. She says study guide doesn't help for exams so says to read the textbook but the textbook is 40-50 pages per chapter. Barely any extra points in the class to help your grade and no extra credit. test average on the exams were around 60%
Accused me of using Ai when I showed her I didn't. Did read a whole I sent her, then complained that I didn't in an assignment that was attached to said email. Thinks she progressive leader that is helping minorities but really is looking and literally pointing out how bad there lives are. Like really did that on a field trip.
