She is one of the instructors I plan to keep in my friends list(mail). She's a cool lady. You really have to read your book for her class..not an easy "A" but not difficult. Don't expect her to know everything.
Mrs. Spicher's enthusiasm for her subject is contagious. It is not an easy class but she is very fair & helpful. I enjoyed this class so much, I was disappointed when the 2 semesters were over.
Haaarrrddd !! - Avoid!!
Difficult, misleading, and Tricky tests. Decieving labs, deducts full point value for minor spelling slips. Try someone else.
Hot Teacher...apparence not everthing though. Great bio teacher wants you to actually know the material. Don't expect to breaze through her class.
Try someone else. Hard tests, Poor test questions, very ambigious, badly worded. So much emphasis on spelling ( and legibility) and trying to figure what mood she might be in just so you could feel comfortable about asking questions, was way too distracting. No hope of ever learning, understanding, or retaining anything.
I had this teacher for both 210 and 211. Hard tests with tricky questions...she prides herself in making it difficult. She said in one lecture class that earning an A in her class is equivalent to winning an Olympic Gold Medal. I am not training for the Olympics. Do not recommend her as an instructor. Avoid!!!
Wonderful class. Very helpful
Loved her class. She expects you to study. Her tests def. make you think and comprehend the material. I walked away feeling like I earned my A and learned A LOT. If you want to sit back and breeze through a class - not a good idea. But if you really want to learn and are a serious nursing student, take her class - You won't be disappointed.
I took this teacher the first time I had ever had anatomy and I had to drop the class because her test's are soooo hard and do not follow what she is teaching in class. I had to re-take the class which put me behind in getting into nursing, but the second time I made an "A" I studied the same amount of time, but the other teacher wasnt tricky!
SHE IS HOT, SMART AND HAS GREAT TEACHING SKILLS. I LUV HER, SHES AWSOME! VERY CLEAR MATERIAL. BUT THE BAD THING IS SHE HAS HARD TEST! THIS CLASS IS NO JOKE! TAKE IT SERIUSLY OR YOU WILL GET LOST. READ YOUR BOOK TOO! WHEN FINISHED WITH HER CLASS YOU WILL LEAVE VERY CONFIDENT! RECOMENDED! DID I SAY SHES HOT, OHH AND FUNNY TOO! HEHE
Great professor! Extremely helpful, and she makes everything crystal clear!
After having Mrs. Spicher for Bio210 I made sure to have her again for 211. She's thorough and fun as well as eager to help those students who seek it. She's challenging but study as she says and you won't be disappointed.
Great teacher - She really is interested in what she teaches. Study her notes!! as well as reading your chapters. She's always willing to answer your questions and help you understand something if you are having a problem. I really enjoyed her class! STUDY!!
Unreasonable and very inflexible. Tricky and very ambigious tests. Takes off for spelling errors in lab, even for "o's" that look like e's. One can easily drop a letter grade or two PER test (and a letter grade for the course)and have mastered subject matter thoroughly. Try someone else and you'll remember more!!!
Unreasonable and difficult instructor, try someone ele.
Overall good teacher. Lecture are extremely boring. Syllabus CLEARLY states that the goal of the class is to be able to define and spell the words CORRECTLY. so yes she will count off for spelling. I retook the class this summer online and found it to be MUCH better. No lectures and tests are straight from the book. Good teacher: try online class.
DO NOT TAKE HER BORING! She thinks she is so smart, yet she only knows her notes! Tries to be tricky.
She is the best teacher I have had. I have never learned so much in 1 class. Her tests were challenging but if you pay attention in class, follow her powerpoints, and study you will be good. She is very enthusiastic and helpful. DEF recommend
She reads straight from power points w/ no clarity. No point in attending class bc you will end up teaching yourself. Studying long hours& knowledge of the topic will not reflect on grade. Test ?s are misleading. Most important, bad attitude&comments like "I dont expect anyone to do well," are plain sick. Wish GTech would do something. Overall poor
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She only knows her notes and is not fair. I was 1 point from a B and she would not give it,but she did give 2 points to a former classmate. She thinks, she has life whipped, meaning all planned out! Wait, till her child gets a little older. Miss Clemson who thinks she is hot, not!!!
She is an awesome anatomy teacher! She loves anatomy and wants you to learn the information. She test fairly and when you leave her class you will feel as though you know the material. I have had her for two semesters and would highly recommend her to anyone.
Mrs. Spicher is a hard teacher. She expects you to know the material she is teaching you. She uses her powerpoints to help you follow along. Spelling is very important in the medical field so that is why she hounds people for spelling. Overall good teacher. ALOT of material covered. You have to study.
There is no doubt that Spicher knows her stuff. She is excellent in explaining everything, but her tests are unbelieveably hard! Someone in an earlier post said tricky. She's unusually hard and she prides herself on it. If I could do it all again, I would GET OUT OF HER CLASS FAST! You have been warned!
Mrs. Spicher is an AWFUL teacher!! She does not teach at all just reads from a powerpoint. My advice, find another teacher!!
GET OUT NOW!in the begining i truly did like her.and she def knows evrything on her pwrpoints but if u ask her anythng else about bio-she is clueless. she def LOVES to pick on students.n i would def advise u 2 put ur head down after evry single ? on her tests bc she will absolutely acuse u of cheating n she loves giving 0's!horible teacher.hate her
Believes that you all ready know the field you are going into and doesn't really help you at all for the test!!! horrible proffessor
mrs. spicher is a very good teacher but she is definatly very hard. The test are a little tricky in my opinion but you can do well in her class if you study the power points. She is willing to help her students. I enjoyed her class she was tough but i learned a lot and i ended up with a B.
Very hard, and she teaches wrong information. Her PowerPoints can be false, and she doesn't like to have students prove that she is teaching incorrect facts. She picks on students and accuses half the class of cheating daily. She favors certain majors over others and devies her time accordingly. Do not take her if you want to have a medical career.
Lynn Spicher...why is she a teacher? She speaks at a million miles per hour, makes an ALREADY difficult 4 credit class much more difficult, and blames any student who is struggling for their situation. She may know her stuff, but is not a good TEACHER. Treats students like highschoolers, and assumes we're all cheating. She also tells horrible jokes.
great teacher.
She is an AWESOME teacher, the students with the comments about how HARD, TRICKY, and out to get you she is, well they are just lazy. The test in lecture come straight from the powerpoints she puts online. Lab well its just as every other lab you must study and spelling does count. This is a challenging class, but if you study you will do FINE!
She is GREAT teacher! I loved her class. She has so much knowledge on the material that it would be very hard to leave the class confused. She is also a very nice person. I had her for Bio 210 and made sure to have her for Bio 211. I recommend her to anyone who needs to take Anatomy!
Mrs. Spicher is an excellent teacher. Plan on working hard, listening and attending class, and you will be rewarded by learning more than you can imagine. This class will prepare you for the stress of many of the medical professions.
Great teacher. Not an easy class at all, but if you are motivated you can stay on top of the information. The test is given straight from the notes and she goes over the information at least once before the test. Extra credit is given.
She's great she starts off hard and finishes harder, really knows what she's talking about
Great teacher I failed 210 the first time took it with her and got an A her slide shows are a great condensed version of what the book says so you really dont have to use the book unless you need clarity shes funny and interesting currently taking 211 with her SN: she is beautiful
Great teacher, one of the best A&P instructors I have taken so I took 211 from her as well. Very clear with physiology and gives great examples. Heavy on PP so make sure to print those off before every class! Doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes either ;)
Mrs. Spicher is a great teacher. She is very competent and knows her material inside and out. Her analogies she uses to explain things are wonderful. I would highly recommend her!
The best professor I have ever had, this a very hard class that moves fast but she makes it fun and you never get bored. I wish all educators had her enthusiasm and passion. She will not put up with slackers so go in serious and come out successful :)
Mrs. Spicher is nice and funny but she is EXTREMELY HARD. She purposely makes every test VERY difficult and tricky. This material is hard enough without the teacher making it harder. She often adds things that are not even labeled in the Lab book! It's ridiculous. I would definitely avoid her at ALL costs if you can.
Mrs. Spicher is a great Anatomy teacher! She uses crazy examples to help you understand what she is talking about and is willing to help you during her office hours. She lets you know how it is and isn't an easy teacher, but she's a good teacher.
Ms. Spicher is an excellent teacher. Took her BIO 210 and 211 class. She wants you to do well in A&P knowing that this is the foundation for most medical knowledge therefore her class is HARD. Spelling is important and make sure you use power point notes. If you need help see her during office hours. She is more then willing to help you.
Mrs. Spicher is an amazing teacher who makes learning fun but you have to study hard and do the homework. She explains things in ways you can understand. No slacking in this class, so pay attention!
She's the funniest teacher I've had this year. Her jokes really help you remember the content.
Mrs. Spicher is one of the best teachers I've had thru out my college career. The class is hard, but that's due to the subject matter. She tries hard to relate the material to something we can understand. I'm maintaining a B average with half the effort it took me to get a C in Bio 210. Highly recommend her.
Was a great person but not a very good teacher. this was the only class that i never received an A in now i have to retake it.
Ms. Spicher is a great teacher. She does talk fast, so pay attention and go to class. She is willing to work with students if help is needed and she cares about her students. Study notes/powerpoints...it's a hard class. Ms. Spicher is fun and helpful if you put forth the effort.
Mrs. Spicher is the worst teacher I've ever had. She elects to include more material than is required (in A&P) and she has a horrible attitude. I am an all A student from high school and college and this is the first time I have ever failed a class. Please do not enroll in a class with this teacher.
Avoid this teacher. She will let you know that its her job to weed out the weak. She can be really nice one day and rude and hateful the next.
Mrs Spicher has a fun personality but as a teacher is horrible. Lab test were fine but grading was tough. Lectures tests were horrible because is was so unorganized and random. The information that she stressed in lecture weren't even on the test, vice versa, then there was the "unimportant" information. Its not a Learn friendly Class.
If you would like to develop a stress disorder, take Ms. Spicher :) lol. SWITCH TEACHERS ! TAKE DR. SEYMOUR !! You'll thank me later !
She focuses tests on random things that she say in class, but these things are not in the class notes. In other words, if you think you can skip class, you have the wrong professor. I can't deny that she seems very knowledgeable about anatomy and gives great examples to explain. Just don't take her though. I have a B+ so far and the class avg78.
Mrs. Spicher is very knowledgable about anatomy and physiology and is quite entertaining. However, I felt like she made the content harder and more confusing than it needed to be, since A&P is already a hard class.
If you are aware of the work you need to put in to make a good grade in A&P, Mrs. Spicher is there for you! She is hilarious and makes a difficult topic easy to understand. She's a pretty tough grader, however if you put in the effort, you should succeed in her class.
She is a wonderful teacher. you will know your stuff when you leave her classroom. She makes you a nerd that love bio! great teacher. I had her for bio 210 and 211.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Although the class was tough, I left there confident in what I had learned. I would definitely like to take her class again. I feel that it would be very helpful for my career to have her as a professor again.
Ms. Spicher had a lot of family emergencies this year and I know that definitely put a lot of stress on her. Although you could tell she was frazzled, she came to class and put all her energy into it. It's a really tough class and I loved Anatomy before I took this class. It's A LOT to learn. But s overall, she was hilarious and a good teacher.
Toughest class I've ever taken! A LOT of work (worksheets, online, lecture notes, lab memorization). However, she is definitely there for you and truly wants you to do well). The lecture tests are VERY confusing and it's hard to figure out how to study for them.
This is a difficult class that requires a lot of work/studying to pass. Go to class, take notes, participate! Mrs Spicher made it hilarious and related everything in ways most ppl could understand. She's willing to help, but she expects you to put in the work. I wish she could teach all of my science classes!!!
Everybody can get a PhD, but few can transmit knowledge. She was born to teach. It comes naturally to her and without effort you will understand and do good. As long as you red your book and attend lectures, you will love the class. She makes the atmosphere stress free and treat you like family. I was working 2 full time job and still got an A.
Unless you have a lot of prior knowledge on anatomy and physiology, this is not the teacher for you. Lecture tests are a killer and lab tests are graded very strict. The material is hard but it is not the course content that made this class hard- it is the self-taught style of this class that made this class so difficult.
Mrs. Spicher has high expectations, but she will give you the tools you need and help you get there. Tests are tough, but she gives you study guides (the worksheets) and if you put in the work to study them you will do fine. She is also very funny. If you put effort into her class, you will have a thorough understanding of the material.
I find it kind of ridiculous how many people dislike this class. Prof. Spicher make really boring material at least somewhat tolerable. And she tries her best not to trick or surprise anyone. You know from day one that for lab test spelling is crucial. She tests from what she teaches so do not miss lass. Else wise she a pretty great teacher
Liked her a lot more in 211 than 210. 211 was easier. Do the worksheets while she's lecturing b/c they go together & it saves you time outside of class. And she lectures crazy fast. Sometimes makes things a bit harder than they have to be, isn't always clear-cut. Liked her overall. Don't know if I'd take her again though.
I liked Ms. Spicher as a person but not as a professor. Her tests are hard and you have to figure out what the question is even asking before addressing the answers. You are taught more information than necessary and it causes an overload. She's funny but the class itself is just very demanding. It made me change my major even though I tried!
I have prior knowledge of the topic in the class. I still did not understand what she was talking about. In lab, you are on your on in finding the parts of an organ.
Spicher is amazing. If you cooperate with her, she will cooperate with you. She's hilarious. The key to doing well in her class is having the textbook open to roughly the same section that she's talking about and take notes in the book. It's a lot easier to keep up with her train of thought. She's sharp, sassy, and totally worth taking.
The only reason her score isn't a 5 is because she can be a difficult teacher, but she's amazing! As long as you pay attention, do your work, and put in the effort needed you'll do well in her class.
Mrs. Spicher is the best teacher at GTC! She made me love Bio and I took 210 and 211 from her. She is tough but she is so funny! If you study you will pass.
Shes a good teacher. She lets you know the class is hard in the beginning. You are mostly teaching yourself. Always study and bring your book!
Absolutely the worst class I have ever taken. Keep in mind I have always been an A/B student and always knew how to study. First off, be prepared to learn on the first day, which isn't a problem for me. Second of all, be prepared to have lengthy study guides that don't even correspond with the lecture test at all. She also doesn't help. Good luck
Get ready to read. I basically taught myself the entire course. She starts talking off tangent about her life, TMI. Doesn't test or use the study guides. The tests are difficult as you will never know what will be tested. Read the book and get tutors, a lot. If you ask for help, response is read the book. That's all you get from asking. Good Luck.
Want to pass her class? Learn the concepts. You can study vocab words all day long, but if you do not understand the hows and whys you won't stand a chance. Professor Spicher lets all her students know it will be a hard class - no easy A's here. Put in the time - lots of time - and focus on truly understanding the topics you'll do well.
This class should not be as hard as she makes it. She literally makes you know every single thing, the necessary things not just things you're needed to know. I don't recommend this professor to anyone. Never been so confused while taking an exam..
Mixes up lab and lecture content. Shows pictures in lecture and notes in lab and does not show pictures for lab test. She puts pictures you have never seen before on the test and expects you to just know them without ever seeing them before. All over the place with no organization. Tests are super hard and confusing! And I passed 210 with an A!
A lot of mandatory study guides that dont really help you for the test. Her teaching style is very mixed up with a lot of flipping through the text book. Youre basically teaching yourself. She doesnt help with study guides or reviews for your finals. Talks WAY too much about her family. Doesnt seem to care if you pass or fail.
She is the best! Ms. Spicher is hilarious and does a great job simplifying complex concepts and making them relateable to you. Kind and truly cares for her students. Never knew anatomy could be so enjoyable!
Mrs. Spicher is a great person but she was not my favorite professor. She's very scattered when teaching and not very organized. Assigns study guides that do not help when it comes to preparing for the test nor does she go over the correct answers. She heavily depends on the book so be sure to take it to every class. If you take her class good luck
Loved her!!!
She is very knowledgeable about the subject, but doesnt apply that to the class. You basically are on your own to learn what you need to know. She expects more from you than she is giving out. You should want to make sure all of your students are getting what they need in order to pass your class. Sometimes it is not the student , its the teacher
Prof. Spicher is a knowledgable teacher. She knows how to manage class time efficiently and effectively. My only protest is that I find her to be a little insensitive on her side comments. There isn't anything wrong with being a proud southerner, but I find her references to churches and priests to be a little dated. She is still a wonderful Prof.
Mrs. Spicher is a great professor. She knows her stuff & makes class fun. Only complaint- she can be scattered sometimes so bring your book to follow along in lecture. This is not an easy course, be prepared for long days & late nights studying. Tests hold a lot of weight and there are not many assignments to offset a poor grade.
Mrs. Spicher is awesome! Super hilarious and made class enjoyable. Solid teacher. If you bring your book to class and highlight everything she tells you to, you'll do fine. It's a lot of information to retain, but so is nursing school. Also, show up and do not miss. The less catchup you have to play, the better. Would highly recommend.
Very tough grader. Gets off on tangents on every class. DO NOT TAKE if you dont want your GPA to be screwed.
Amazing instructor! Really knows her stuff and I think she's a good teacher. Bring your book, highlight the lecture material, study it, and you'll be fine. She made coming to class really fun.
She is great at teaching Bio 211 lab
Love this professor! She is a really good lecture teacher, I learned a lot. I have to retake the class because I didn't received the grade I wanted however its not her fault, its mine because I didn't put in the time. Amazing lecture teacher, gives really good and funny examples that ACTUALLY rate... definitely recommend :)
I agree with the other students who mentioned she is a nice person and uses a lot of humor. I just wouldn't recommend her as a professor. She was late to class every day (Lecture & Lab) INCLUDING EXAM DAY (15 MINUTES LATE). She goes over the material VERY quickly, but does not take the time to explain it. You are going to have to teach yourself.
This class is very hard. Her test are hard and confusing at time with her trick questions she gives. The best way to get through it is record her lecture go home and listen to it and follow along in the book take while your listen to the recording that you might of missed during class and you should do good in the class but you have to put time in.
Mrs. Spicher is a really good professor. She is very caring, honest, relatable informative and knowledgeable. You will learn a lot information in this class, real- life situations and medical knowledge. The class is difficult and time consuming but it is worth it because the information is critical. I would recommend her, it was a pleasure.
Professor Spicher is a very friendly professor and cares about you as a student. Although her class is hard, if you study and put forth effort you can make an A. Always prelabel for lab because she may count it as an assignment if people do not prelabel.
Professor Spicher has changed my perspective on Anat/Phys classes because she has such a relatable and clear way of explaining things that the book just cant give you. She is very patient about questions and wants to make sure everyone feels confident in the material in their own way. Hilarious for sure too! Wish I could have her for every subject
Professor Spicher was a good professor. She is tough because the course itself is tough. I felt prepared for the tests as long as I put in the work and studied.
Struggled with the first lecture test and when I emailed her for insight on which way to study, I was told "Well, there's a lot of different ways to study." She harped on taking practice quizzes multiple times but then they would be nothing like the tests. Hangs her students up to dry. By far the worst professor I've had yet.
I'm concerned as to why she has any good reviews at all. She makes very sarcastic/smart remarks in class and always accuses people of cheating! Thankfully I lucked out with a B in her class, but as far as a caring teacher, she's not it! Her lecture tests are HARD!! Please read the reviews before going with this teacher. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Too much homework/grades harshly on the homework. Her exams don't line up with the practice test she gives. Lecture's so long/all she does it talk about her family. Who cares? HerTest are unnecessarily hard. Almost as if she wants people to fail. DO NOT RECOMMEND! She was sick and a professor replaced her. That professor was 1000X better! WARNING..
I am a very hands-on, visual learner, and because of Professor Spicher,I got a higher grade in 211 than I did in 210! She breaks things down in an easy-to-understand manner and uses real-life examples. She was always checking in with us and I felt that she truly cared about us as students. My only major complaint is that she can be a tough grader.
She is funny but does not prepare you for the tests she gives out.She harps on doing the practice activities for lab and then does not use pictures that we studied.I failed my first lecture test and I reached out for help. The only response I got was to study differently. She gets on rabbit trails then sends a google doc with the rest of info after
Spicher was a great teacher with a tough course with heavy and difficult material, but she made it fun to learn. We did have to do a lot of self teaching because she was sick for a while. She will go on tangents while teaching which causes us to run out of time in class, so we have to teach ourselves. She goes very fast but makes sure we understand
I loved Mrs.Spicher. If you come to class prepared everything will go by smoothly, also try staying ahead and reading each chapter before class. You have to study and be present in class.
She always made sure to review what she went over last class and to help us make the connections. She basically told you what she was looking for on the test and would point out things that you want to make sure that you know.
Professor Spicher is one of the most challenging professors I've ever had. Despite this, I appreciate that about her because it made working for the grade more rewarding. While her class is difficult, if you read the chapters, take some notes, and come prepared for class beforehand you will do well.
This professor was not a horrible teacher but only caters to one learning style. Looking at pictures and diagrams. I learn a lot better by having a few notes on the board and listening where the notes go along with the lecture. She is very snarky and will cut you off while trying to ask a question. She was very upset about a student voice reccordin
professor spicher teaches from pictures from the book, but will tell you exactly what to write, as well as provide lecture outline. she makes her tests off of the outlines, she lessens the work load by summarizing and only testing on her own words. she is also the kind of professor to make jokes and funny references to help you learn & remember.
Professor Spicher gives you everything you need to succeed in the course, it is just a fast-paced material heavy course. Her lectures are very helpful. You just have to make time to study.
Spicher is the sweetest and funniest professor I've met at Greenville tech. She's extremely understanding and comical. She makes A&P a really fun class and is really good at making her lectures interesting. She's very easy to reach outside of class and provides great resources to succeed. She's very fun I definitely recommend her.
If you pay attention and do what you are supposed to you will pass. She is very understanding and really wants you to understand what you are learning. She gives you a chance to come to their classes if you don't understand and tries her best to explain. It took a while to get our grades back but other than that she is awesome!!!
She is one of the best professors I have had for Anatomy and Physiology II. She explains each topic thoroughly and presents the material in a narrative style, which makes it easy to understand. Although the class is challenging, she clearly knows the subject matter and does not simply read from the slides during lectures.
