Perhaps the worst teacher in the history department...definitely knows her stuff but has some issues that often affect her ability to teach. Also seems to be horribly offended if the students aren't enthralled by the subject matter
Had her for both 211 and 212. Tends to accuse students of plagiarism on essays for no logical reason. Tests are easy, just study the online quizzes. She takes about five minutes to complete a thought. A bit out there. Has issues. Don't take her.
She is pyscho. She went on and on in class on day about the 10 states that seceded in the 1860's. After class i couldnt help but to inform her that there were 11 state not 10. and she never ever finished a thought
took her for 211 and 212 because her tests are really easy. just go to class, take good notes and memorize the online quizzes. horrible personality though. makes you feel dumb for asking a question in or out of class. she's fake nice and boring lectures.
I too took her class for 211 and 212 only because the tests are easy. Study the online quiz, take decent notes and you should be fine. However, probably the worst, most boring teacher I've had in my life. If you want to actually learn, dont take her

She is the most boring, monotone teacher I have ever had. I don't learn anything in her class, but she takes the tests right off the online assessment quizes. She is really anal about everything (assigned seats). Her office is a cloud of smoke! GROSS!
Once during class I had the textbook from my previous class sitting on my desk(while I was taking notes). She stopped teaching and threw my textbook on the floor and yelled at me in front of the whole class.I felt like I was in 2nd grade.

One of the rudest teachers i've ever had. Not very open to answering questions, and HATES it when people aren't in assigned seats (YES,she gives u assigned seats IN COLLEGE!) I would rather eat dirt than take a class she teaches again.
Her 211 and 212 classes are super easy, but 300 level was much harder. She wasn't very helpful whenever you go to her office and she would get very angry if you didn't speak up in class. Gave tests without study guides, so everyone always did terrible

If you don't like lecture classes, do not take Prof. Dunn. Outside of class she is a wonderful woman who is very kind if you show respect to her as well. Tests are somewhat easy if you memorize the questions online. Required readings can be a bit too much.
Seems to be helpful in the beginning, but she turned out to be extremely hard. No study guide, but you know the set-up of the tests:1/4 from one book, 1/4 from another book, 1/2 essay. Essay questions are very hard and the only thing good is 1/4 of the book questions come from the exact internet ?s.
Dr. Dunn came off very nice and helpful, but she's not. When you ask her a question, she looks at you like you're a complete idiot. She's not helpful, just repeative. Her tests are easy...study the online quizzes. I'd take her class again, but I wouldn't ask any questions...EVER!

This teacher was horrible. There was a girl who had an operation and a doctor's note and she wouldn't let her retake the test she missed. Plus she's really boring and always calls me out on my mistakes!!!!
Dr. Dunn gives extremely boring lectures.. although I'm not sure its possible to make this history very interesting. She is a decent teacher, she tells you exactly what to expect, its very possible to get an A in her class.
You really don't have to buy the books, just memorize the online study guide questions. That's 1/4 of every test, another 1/4 is questions from her lecture (just pay attention and take notes) and 1/2 is an essay but she gives you the topics AHEAD OF TIME! Just stay on top and you'll do fine.
VERY boring teacher. Her lectures are not stimulating, and she calls out people in class. She sticks her tongue out a lot and likes to pace. Her tests are easy as long as you know the online study guides!

Dunn is the worst professor at Winthrop University. She does not care about her students and is not helpful at all! She makes you feel stupid for asking a question. If at all possible, avoid taking any class with her!!!
TERRIBLE made a D in 211 with dunn.very boring and hard to understand. soft quiet monotone voice.terrible teacher that makes an ok class really difficult.strict grading on essays and very hard tests..u gotta guess and if u don't like history then you're DUNN for.i feel sorry for u if ur in her class
DR Dunn made this class great! She made the material come to life! She does a great job with women's issues in American History! Take this class! You won't be disappointed!
Professor Dunn is horrible. Her tests will kick your butt and her lectures are dreadful. Take Mims defenitely. If I could give any advice to anyone it would be to avoid Dunn at all costs.

This is the WORST class ever. Do yourself a favor and find another prof. As a history major, I found her class utterly useless. She is absoulutly horrible. She's rude, unhelpful, and unclear. You never know what's going to be on the test. Stay away from this professor if possible.
Dr. Dunn is extremely condescending and makes you feel stupid enough never to ask a question in her class. She is extremely uncaring and her tests are almost next to impossible. I would avoid her class if you can.

Professor Dunn is a Liberal and she does not mind letting everyone know that, and she also does not mind sticking it to anyone that is not as Liberal as she is...I was gonna write a pro-Reagan paper but observing the treatment that another classmate gets for his less-than-Liberal ideals, I decided, for the sake of my grade, to write about another topic. Her tests are easy. I just took notes and did not study at all and made a B+. Also, if you do not know what you are talking about--SHUT UP
Advanced level history: incredibly horrible. she is so biased it isn't even funny. if you are even slightly conservative, forget it. has no concern for her students. she just wants to teach what she cares about and nothing else. i wish they would fire her and bring in someone who knows how to TEACH and not merely give opinions!

She's very easy but you HAVE to be a good note taker. Her final came straight from the old tests. I just went through and highlighted the answers and when I got my final I went through and circled the exact same answers. The My Lai paper is easy as long as you read the book and know what you're talking about (I got an A).
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! That is, unless you like being berated, talked down to, or constantly lectured on subjects like cheating and effective note-taking. This is the WORST class I have ever taken at Winthrop. Her test structure is unfair by design and the lectures are unhelpful.
Although Dr. Dunn was out for 3 weeks, she was not helpful and very moody. She wants the students' opinions and interpretations of the text, however, she tries to make you feel stupid. If she would have been here for those 3 weeks, i feel the class would have been alot harder. I do not recommend taking her.

All I have to say is RUN!!! Do not ever take her class. She is very opinionated and will let you know how she feels about a subject. She can be rude. If you are late for class, she will stop lecturing and look at you and then fuss about it. Whatever you do, DO NOT take this class!!!!

If you are willing to do what is expected of you as a student and conduct yourself as a college student than you will succed in professor Dunn's class. College is suppose to be challenging and not a walk in the part. Professor Dunn is knowledgable in her field and does expect much from her students. There is no setting students up to fail.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She always says that she is willing to help but she never follows through with her promises. She often tries to humiliate and belittle her students. Her answer to everything is simply "NO". She doesn't connect with the students at all.

Despite reading the comments on the site, I took the class. While the ;ecturing is somewhat boring, the class itself isn't that difficult. As longas you attend class, take notes, and do the work assigned, you'll be alright.
Don't take anything with Dunn! Her lectures will put you to sleep. However, you're too distracted to even listen because she sits on the edge of the front desk and swings her legs back and forth. The woman can't sit still! Tests aren't bad if you've done the readings and taken good notes.
All people who say Dr. Dunn is a bad teacher are crazy. As long as you read your book and take notes in class the tests will be a piece of cake...I got an A...people just dont want to read but her tests are as strait foward as they come!
She's kinda spacey/distracting. Doesn't always explain things clearly. Reading is required if you want to pass. Makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Seems to be fairly nice though.

Dr. Dunn is tough, but fair. I recently had her for diplomacy and as long as you take notes and go to class regularly, you'll be fine. She does take most of her info for her exams DIRECTLY from the book. Don't ask questions, she'll make you feel like an idiot.

If I didn't need a 500 level class this semester, I'd be dropping her class ASAP. She is condescending and belittling, and she is neither fair nor *forthright* about her expectations for her students' work. If you can in ANY WAY avoid taking her class, do so. She is not to be trusted.
Not exactly the easiest or most interesting teacher, tends to drift off into different subjects not relating to the ones we are talking about. But she is a good history teacher and does have a great knowledge about the 50s. But don't get here started on feminism in the 50s or you'll be there all day.
Tough but fair professor. She has an interesting personality but loves and knows the subject she teaches. Often she gets off on stories but it gives you a quick break from facts between lessons. You will need your book. Her tests are half book and half lecture but the questions are all very general, no dates and names. Would take again if I could.
Dr. Dunn is extremely knowledgeable in her field, which shows in her lectures and general conversation. Yes, she is tough- but she's always fair. College is not about a professor entertaining you, holding your hand, or ensuring your feelings aren't hurt. It's about education. If you want to actually learn something, take one of Dr. Dunn's classes.
Dr. Dunn told you exactly what you need to know on the exams. She has even sent out the essay questions prior to the test. On her test, you aren't required to memorize any dates, just the facts. She also gives easy homework that the answer is in the back of the book so it's an easy way to get extra points. I found her class super easy & I got an A.
This class was the hardest college course i have had and i am a junior. Only 2 tests the whole semester and the final. No quizzes, no powerpoints,no studyguides, no keyterms. She only lectures, if you are not an auditory learner you will have a tough time.she was a nice lady. this course did show me how to really think critically.
She lectures the whole class period, but as long as you can follow her and write down what she's saying it really is not as bad as everyone says. Her tests are half textbook half lecture. She gives you an opportunity to get a total of 50 extra credit points. Half of the final is STRAIGHT from past tests. I recommend her as a professor :)
I took Dr. Dunn for a lower history course and had no problems. Received an A for the class, and barely came to class the last few weeks. Pay attention to lectures and read the book and you will be fine. She gives an easy 50 extra credit points and doesn't make you memorize dates. Can seem rude at times, but knows her stuff.
