She was the worst prof I ever had, SO UNORGANIZED and ditzy!
Loads of inconvienent blackboard work. Take Ketum at delta, it's half the price.
NICE person, tough grader. yikes
Man does she suck
She hates men
HATED her...unfair grader, plays favorites (thank god I was one) EVIL WOMAN
She was very unhelpful, infact, she was frustrated when people even asked she wanted. She went as far as to insult some people's intelligence in front of the class. In truth, she's alright
She is the WORST english teacher EVER.. and she donesnt grade fair AT ALL .. oh and she is a LOSER
She totally picks favorites, especially if you come in late she rips apart your paper
terrible I cant believe some of the people svsu hires its like they just open a phonebook, call someone, and ask them to teach svsu. Doesnt know the first thing about being fair---avoid at almost all costs
not a lot of work, but she is a hard grader. Just make sure not to fall behind in the readings!
its amazing that she was hired at the colleg level, i had better englisg teachers in elementary school!!! I got a B- but would reccomend to Avoid at almost all costs
She is not as bad as everyone on here makes her seem. I would take her again she grades very easily, if you go and do the work I don't know how someone couldn't pass.
She says she will help you and then she doesn't show up to get the help, then she gives you a look the next day like it was your fault. And when you ask her why we are doing what we are, she becomes rude. Okay with grading, but rude
She was one of the worst English teachers I have ever had at SVSU. She was very unfair and she doesn't have a clue about English. Don't take her, take a class at Delta if you have to.
sucks, cannot teach and does not teach. gives bad grades and expects perfection without teaching at all. tries to use the writing center for everything. fire her
i like her. she's very nice if you actually talk to her and although she's not "hot" she does have a smile that lights up the room
Graft I s a great teacher, We have the best lectures and she respects the students opinons, Very nice lady. But she does give too much reading
Not as bad as people make her seem. Not the best professor I've had, but she is okay. She assigns a bit of homework, but that's expected for this type of class. She gives suggestions and grades papers easeir than you may think. Give her a chance.
I had Eng 212 Holocaust, there were 22 who were in the class (6 of whom were male) and all girls in the class got no lower than B's and guys had to fight to get a C. 5 of the guys failed. Ohh and she doesnt tell you how to do stuff or explain assingment
Hard midterm. Lots of reading. Although, she is a good prof and a nice lady.
Easy grader...if you do the work you should do ok. Doesn't explain things as clearly as she should, so ask questions. She's really bad about getting back to students who email her, always said she never recieved them. Lots of busy work.
This is my second semester having professor Graft. I really enjoy her. She explains things very well and is really helpful when you need it. I would recommend her to anyone.
Ok give her a break, I have her right now and she is a peice of cake. If you actually do the work and come to class you will be fine. True, she doesn't explain every single detail but she doesn't grade harshly, so it evens out I like her! I reccomend her!
ok prof., lot's of reading, poetry sucks!
This woman is unfair, unclear, and don't know how to teach. If you have her... drop! She gives you busy work like you're still in high school. Her docs. are unclear and leave much to be explained.
Prof. Graft has high expectations. She expects college level work from her students (which is fair). If you ask questions, do the homework and are prepared for class, you will do fine. She was challenging and interesting. I learned alot from her class.
This class is very easy. It's all about the Holocaust and you get to watch movies and write papers about them. Took her for two claasses and got A's both times. I highly recommend her.
Not as hard as everyone makes her out to be. Work can pile up, but the work is pretty much a blow off.
Nice teacher and is willing to help students out. Hard marker though, also she likes to pile on the work.
I really liked her. There were a lot of assignments but you really dont need to do most of them. Not a bad teacher at all. Would take her again.
Grades pretty easy. There is a lot of reading to do, but it isn't really that bad. I was glad i kept the class even after reading these ratings at first.
The class was somewhat interesting and she definitely knew what she was talking about but there were a lot of little assignments that you just got points for doing them or not and it didn't matter what you wrote. I felt most of them were useless. She really enjoys class discussion, talk in class.
She was very helpful and willing to clarify things to as long as you ask. The assignments were not that bad and she graded them fairly. I would recommend her classes to anyone.
Class was disorganized and grading was late and did not give clear instructions. Was interesting and loves her work, but feedback was poor.
this teacher really piles on the work! A lot of it is busy work that you don't even get graded for. Also she is really unclear about things. She also doesn't explain assignments clearly enough. A lot of students have to ask her over and over to re-explain things.
Terrible professor. Unorganized, doesn't respond to emails, WAY too much busy work. Assigned a 450 page book to read over Spring Break. Does not clearly explain projects. Doesn't keep you up to date on grades. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone.
she is very unclear and gives alot of work with little time. She is hard to contact and doesn't respond to emails. You never know your grade and you have to go to two field trips which are not during class time. if you don't go you lose alot of points.
A lot of useless work. Class is really unnecessary, but is required. Easy A if you put little effort in her assignments, but a lot of little assignments. Nice, but doesn't seem to care much about teaching, she forgets A LOT! This class should not be required for science majors. Identical to 300
The worst teacher ever! DO NOT TAKE!! no matter what, even if it means having to take an extra semester! Do not waste your time in that class.
i took this class in the spring and it was still an ok class. she didn't grade the papers too hard, and we had peer responses which helped a lot. you have to give a presentation on your last paper, but it's easy. she was really helpful and i liked her a lot. she is very clear about the assignment and gets you thinking ahead of time.
Disliked her way of teaching. Did not understand her very well. Very unorganized. I was interested in the topic, but not the way she went about teaching it. Could have been a little bit more compassionate.
I CANNOT stress to you enough! DO NOT take a class with this teacher! e-mails and phone calls go unanswered. constantly going off topic. very unclear about her entire grading process. She piles on TONS of busy work, most of which goes ungraded. 2 full day field trips, one had nothing to do with the class! do not take!
Took it as a summer class so it was a bit busier than a normal semester, BUT it wasn't that bad. The assignments were graded fair, and they weren't that bad to do. I think she's a good prof.

I read these comments before diciding to take her class, and disreguarded them. What a mistake!!! They are all true.
She's a nice lady, but isn't wrapped too tight. She ALWAYS makes some kind of excuse as to why she doesn't have progress reports or other important things prepared, in addition to not sticking to the syllabus (which any idiot knows is the result of being unorganized). Also she forgets some of the more basic things like days of the week!
DONT TAKE HER! SHE IS EVIL! Forgets everything she tells you then tries to fail you! She gives out so much work and then forgets it! You dont get credit for most of it and then expects you to do things that she doesnt even know because she cant even explain it to you! If you ever listen to anything in your whole life dont waste your time with her!
I was so excited to learn about the Holocaust - but everything you learn you have to teach yourself. She'll assign 3 papers at once, and make them all due on one day. PLUS, peer responses take up more of your time than they ever should. Not an easy class - if you have anything else in your schedule - don't take this class... you'll sstress out!
Rediculous amounts of work. Terrible course and unbelievably boring. Never take her.
Prof. Graft is tough, but you learn a lot if you listen to lectures and come to class. I learned so much about the Holocaust and would definitely take her again.
I have always loved English and been good at it, been in Advanced Placement English in high school, and I think this lady is crazy. Assignments are so involved and she is obsessed with using computers for everything, insane amounts of busy work, everything just seems so unecessary and time consuming, if you have a life outside of school don't take
A horrible professor. She doesn't understand that most students have other classes,if they all gave as much work as she gave then everyone would fail out of school. On top of all the other work, she gives journal entries twice a week and it isn't a credit no credit deal she grades you down if she doesn't like what you put!Worst Professor EVER! Beware!
The first few weeks of class I hated this woman. Her policies were horrible and she gave tons of busy work. She eased up a little and she's much more fair than her syllabus would suggest. She comes off like an attack dog at first but if you give her a chance, she's not so bad. Not recommended, but not so horrible either. Lots of work though!
She gave really good notes, and her exams were over what she said she was going to test us on.
I took her for both 204 and 212. I really liked her and thought she was excellent. Sometimes the homework assignments become a little overwhelming, but as long as you stay on top of them and get them done everything will be fine. She grades very fairly and I thought her Great Lakes Writers and Holocaust classes were very interesting.
I'm sure she is a nice person, but she needs to retire. She is unclear with instructions, gives way too much busy work, treats the students like first graders, is dry and stale, she just goes through the motions. She assigns so much work, like her class is the only class you have. Stay far, far away from this one!
Although she is a very nice person, I would never take a class with her again. She unbelievable amounts of homework, and it seems like she has no idea that students take other classes or may have jobs outside of her class.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. Busy work that is not graded or even relevant. Her lectures are useless and extremely boring. I had a high interest in this class before hand, but she ruined it. She expects you to devote your life to her class, but she cant even post grades or return papers in a timely manner. TERRIBLE PROFESSOR!
She's very nice to you if you take your work seriously. If you show up and do what you're supposed to, with work completed, then I don't see how you can fail! If you don't understand something, ASK!
I don't even know where to start... Lynne gives out busy work like it is going out of style and then never returns it. Overall she is a pretty easy grader, but the workload is big. She is nice too.
Gives out busy work. Basically the whole class is busy work or ambiguous (and long) assignments. She is easy enough to get along with, but she has no concept that a 3 credit class should not involve 15 hours of homework every week. Avoid taking a class with her if at all possible.
I got an A in this class, but Prof. Graft is terrible. She gives you busy work. She does not explain anything. She complains about how much work she has to do. She told us twice that she had just pulled an all-nighter and still failed to grade our papers from 2 weeks prior. Prof. Graft is an embarrassment to the university.
Nice Teacher! the first couple papers are easy, as she gives descriptive guidelines but the last 2 take some time. Its a very interesting class, i learned a lot about the Holocaust. I would take her again if i had the chance.
It was a lot of work, but I got a lot out of it. Also, she is the nicest person in the world. I would definitely take a class with her again.
We did a lot of little activities that were not graded and a waste of our time...and when you turn in a draft, you usually get comments made on it, well she put comments on your final as well which is no help and frustrating. Papers were remotely easy but we also had a final paper due with a 1 week notice. Definitely not the most organized. She nev
Very nice professor, but like everyone said, A LOT of busy work!! Takes a lot of time to return papers. There are 4 papers in 1 semester, the first 2 are fairly easy, but watch out for the last 2 they take a ton of time!! I learned a lot in the process though.
I read all these comments prior to taking a class with her and decided to disregard them. I'm glad I did. She's kind and fair, and she knows her stuff. You'll get out as much as you put into it.
This class kept me busy. There was a lot of reading to do, but more than half the time the reading wasnt necessary and you could do the assignments without it. If you do the assignments on time and as she asked you will be fine. Lynne is very nice and I would take her again.
Tough grader, very picky (no stapled papers, only paper clips), unorganized, and throws too much info at you during some points of the semester. She makes you teach your classmates while she watches. Nice, but not a professor that anybody should be give an award to unless it is for being lazy and not professional.
Love Professor Graft. She taught me so much and help me improve my writing.
Very nice professor, she gives a lot of busy work and has you do a lot of reading. If you keep up with the work it is a very easy course. I would take another course by her.
I had to buy so many books for her class it was rediculous...I had all kinds of busy work that i found not useful when it came to exam time. She can be very unorganized and very picky. She hates staples so you must paper clip everything for example.
Do not take her. She gave me a D because I failed one of the assignments that was only supposed to be 20 percent of my grade. She is rude to students and only answers questions begrudgingly after making you look like you're stupid. I really did not enjoy myself at all in this class, and I love English.
I'm sad Dr. Graft has such a low rating, I loved her! She assigns a lot of reading but you can easily get an A without doing them, she holds your hand & walks you right through the papers, & she's passionate about the subject. She can sometimes seem condescending when answering questions but overall she's a nice lady & a good teacher. Fairly easy A
Professor Graft is a nice lady who means well, but she expects way to much out of pre-req class. Ridiculous amount of reading and takes forever to hand back assignments, wouldn't take her again
By far my least favorite class I've taken so far. She is unrealistic with the amount of work she assigns and she is very unhelpful when it comes to questions. Assigns the next paper before you have even finished the last one. She also does put grades online so you don't even know your grade until the semester is over.
She was a nice person but has way too much busy work that doesn't really deal with the exams at all. You have to devote a lot of time to get an A. Definitely not an easy A gen ed. The work inst hard it just takes time don't take if you have other more important classes.
She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. The amount of reading is way too much. She doesn't use the grade book function on VSpace this only lets you guess on what your grade is. Several students asked her what their grades were and she said "well you should know". The whole class was frustrated with her, and her course. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor Graft tries very hard, but she assigns a lot of work that is unreasonable. She expected us to read 3 novels at one time and often forgot about what assignments were due and what she assigned us. If you like reading I would recommend the class because the books are very interesting. Be prepared for a lot of reading and assignments.
If you like to be organized don't take her. She rarely follows the syllabus and changes due dates frequently. The class has three papers about the Holocaust and weekly journal entries. Besides those two things the rest of the assignments are busywork. Her peer response assignments are way longer than they should be.
I really enjoyed Professor Graft's class on the Holocaust. It was a very interesting topic to research. You have a journal to do every week and there are three large papers throughout the semester. You also have a few small assignments here and there but overall it is a good class and very interesting.
All you really have to do in the class are three huge papers. There are no tests or exams, your grade will just be based on these papers and she gives you a decent amount of feedback on what she wants.
She is hardly on time, rarely discusses the (12)books that you have to read for homework, unorganized, doesn't grade, and rude to the students that ask about there grade because you are supposed to figure it out yourself. The 2 exams don't match what you learned & she doesn't tell you what is on them. If you ask then you will get a rude answer.
She worst teacher in the universe. I had to buy seven books for her class. She is very unorganized. You don't get papers back and she doesn't post your grade. Therefore you have to ask what it is. But beware. When you ask she is going to be VERY rude and tell you that you need to keep up with your grade even though she hasn't passed back anything.
Terrible professor. Grading requirements are unclear. No exams but you will write three VERY long papers requiring thorough research and dedication. Be ready to use ALL of your print balance because she has you print 5-ish copies of every paper you write and all of your sources. I hated this class. Avoid her if you can...
Loved Professor Graft! Would take again a thousand times if I had more Eng courses to take. The papers are long and time consuming but I took the Holocaust section and absolutely loved it. She loves the subject and is very good at teaching it. It keeps you interested. Even at 8:30 in the morning.
I would absolutely not recommend taking this class. She is VERY unclear of what she wants done on assignments then makes you feel stupid for asking questions about the assignment for clarity .
Professor Graft is a sweet lady, but not the best teacher. She does not give feed back, and gets frustrated with you when you ask her questions. Her assignments are confusing. After taking this class over the "Rust Belt" period, I feel like I have learned nothing. She expected us to read an entire book and write a report on it with in one week.
Professor Graft is the sweetest professor ever!! She is so funny and she makes the class interesting. We did have three papers for the Holocaust section, but she is good about giving the class some extra time if needed. There is one movie that had to be watched outside of class, but it was an amazing move! Would love to have her again!
Not the worst professor I have ever had. If you take her, you MUST be ready to ask lots of questions and be self-organized. She has no idea what is going on and is never sure on when due dates are. All of your homework is very disorganized as well, she never knows where anything is. If you are not on top of you work, you wont pass.
Not organized at all, you dont know when anything is due and neither does she. We had to get 7 books for this class. Her exams do not match with what she teaches you, but she expects you to know the information anyway. She is a very nice lady but not the most organized person. You will not know your grade at all during the semester.
Dr. Graft is a very nice lady. She barely ever lectures, which is great because there's no reason to. The class consisted of 3 papers, 2 in-class writings, 9 online discussions, several films in class, and one outside. The class had no exams or real written final. I found the directions simple. Grades are returned slowly, but I really liked her.
Professor Graft is a very nice woman but not my favorite professor. The class is pretty unorganized and absolutely nothing is on Canvas. Don't take this class if you're looking to learn more on the topic, she pretty much gives us a paper to write and we spend the whole class doing that. The course requires a lot of writing, with little instruction.
Dr. Graft very passionate about what she teaches. 3 papers in total for the whole semester and she grades them fairly easily. She isn't too great at explaining things but you'll manage. Discussion posts on Canvas each week which are easy points. A lot of movies and books but they're all interesting. I really enjoyed this class.
Horrible.
Very disorganized, relied on the class to keep things going.
Professor Graft might have been the worst professors ive ever had. She acts like her class is the only class youre taking (meaning reading 200-300 page books a week). She doesnt use canvas so you have no idea what your grade is so you have to ask her in person, but good luck because if you ask she will be very rude about it.
She does not post grades so you will not know where you stand while taking the class. Miss class, miss entire assignments. Print balance? You won't have one left after this class! Canvas is barely used. Everything you do is typed and printed.
Was an A+ Student in AP english all through high school, took Lynne as a teacher and received a D. Used the writing center for every paper, didn't help. I am now retaking ENG212 and have the highest grade in my class. Lynne obviously graded subjectively.
I was an all A student taking this class and even got great grades in my ap English classes in high school. She is very unreliable, does not email back, and can be rude in class. She said in the beginning that students experience books differently and theres no wrong answers in a students analysis, well obviously that was a lie.
This class was TERRIBLE. She is the worst professor that I have ever had my entire college career. Very rude, nasty, & hard to talk to. There wasn't a single assignment that had a clear grading criteria. Not to mention she takes several weeks to grade assignments. Listen to me when I tell you, do not take this teacher, I' helping you dodge a bullet
Lynn is a terrible teacher, obviously she wasn't made for online classes, so why is she teaching them? I'm not sure. She spend the whole class trying to figure out how to put material on canvas so we can see it, but then never figures it out. Unclear on every single assignment then humiliates you. when you don't do it "the correct way." Avoid her!
THE WORST!!! THAT ALL I HAVE TO SAY. AND YES I TYPED IN ALL CAPS TO MAKE EMPHASIZE
She does not know how to use canvas at all. She is rude and gets mad easily.
I was a straight A student until I had Professor Graft. She is terrible to communicate with and will often not listen to you. Getting in contact with her outside of class seems impossible as she never responded to any of my emails. I also had several assignments that she graded incorrectly and she did not fix them until she "had time." Overall bad.
Professor Graft should NOT be able to teach, especially online. Does not know how to work canvas or the online system. Assignments took forever to grade (8-10 ungraded assignments at once), never knew when anything was due, very rude and short-tempered, assignments unclear and unorganized (I could go on and on). Very disappointed in SVSU.
Professor Graft is awfully organized and extremely rude. It was really hard to get hold of her via email. Also a lot of assignments had badly explained instructions and took forever to grade. With this class being taught online, the lack of canvas experience was astonishing. Overall this class was dreadful, and I do not recommend this professor.
Lynne is knowledgeable and expects students to do the work to earn the grade. Many complain, but their high school experience did not prepare them for college level studies. She is tough, and much can be learned if one tries to put the effort into the class.
