shes a funny little woman, funy looking. VERY hard to understand her with her HEAVY accent. she makes zero sense when shes talking and then wonders why no one understands. what's physics anyway? the study of why things move?
I was very concerned when I first met the professor because of her accent. However, she is a very good professor. Her quizes help improve your grade. She is very fair and I recommend taking her. Physics is hard but she does make it somewhat understandable.
loved her! she was cool and wanted her students to pass
She was very good, and kept the class interesting. She also joked around a lot and kept the environment laid back. Her exams were easy, and she was always available if anyone needed help. I highly recommend her!
Her accent is not as hard to understand as people say. She is extremely intelligent and the class is one of the easiest I've ever taken. She gives outlines of every lecture and you don't have to buy the book or really take notes and you can still get a A.
She was a good professor. guided students. took over after prof. celenzo took ill and made me life easy. highly recomended.
She's a sweet lady. It's somewhat hard to understand her, because of her accent. She gives out notes and her tests and quizzes are based on her notes. Yes this sounds great, but beware, her quizzes and tests are very hard and tricky. She's great for lab. She's nice, but you'll really have to study hard in this core class if you'll want to do well.
super nice lady but kinda boring. she has a stong accent so its hard to understand her. she tells the class that she knows its requirement and that she doesn't want to fail anybody. There is a huge curve on the final grades.
Very easy, did not pay atention in class at all and still got an A. Study her notes and excercises before exams and you will do fine
You not gonna find easier class. One of the disadvantages is that professor has an accent, however, if you can cope with that, good grade is guaranteed. Advantages: 1-don't have to buy the book,2-take notes, and you will see the same problems on the test, 3-She writes all formulas on the board, 4-Her labs is just a joke-first grader will understand
even if there where times i couldn't understand her i still pass her exams. Take her she is extremely easy and there no way u can fail.
Take her. There no way u can fail. Just make sure that you do all homeworks... I know that i made a lot of mistakes on my final, but i got an A. Very very boring and she has a very very strong accent. One guy felt asleep and was snoring lol. But she lets everyone go earlier.
Very easy, take this professor to get a very good grade. Just make sure you do labs. She has very strong accent but she explains very good.
Take her.
She said at beginning of the semester she wouldn't fail anyone. Just studying all the handouts she gives can help a lot on the test because the test is similiar to the handout questions--the book isn't needed at all. Try to go to all the labs. She has a strong accent but overall she is a decent professor.
She's easy, but her accent was something that bothered me all summer. Was very difficult to understand.
PHYSICS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A NIGHTMARE FOR ME, BUT THIS PROFESSOR IS REALLY HELPFUL, SO I DID NOT JUST PASSED, BUT GOT AN A. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER.
Her accent is a lil strong..but coming from someone who hates physics, didnt attend class at least once a week and got a b+ she's amazing. Read the handouts and problems sets and you'll do well
As others mentioned, don't buy the book, just read her handouts and pay attention when she says in class "oh, remember this part, there might be a question on the test about it..." HINT HINT! She lets you write out a formula sheet and bring it to the exam, so that makes it much easier to do well!
The NICEST person in the physics dept. Lab was a breeze with her and she is a motherly figure. Don't miss out.
SUCH A SWEET HEART!!!! SWEETNESS!!! GAVE A SWEET HUG AT THE END! WILL MISS HER! :)
I really loved her, she is amazing, she knows its a core class and would never make your life miserable, she is such a a great person, amazing teacher, keeps everyone relaxed, no pressure, one of the greatest personalities ive ever known. Take her, this professor is truly great
Best professor to take for this core class wants to make life as easy as possible for you exams are a breeze you can use your notes while taken the exam what more can you ask for easy class must take
shes easy and adorable! always trying to help, offers extra credits, always around whenever u need her, very understanding, i think students would be getting much better grades if all professor were like prof Godenko, she does have an accent, but u get used to it after few lectures, she explains really well and exams are fair for a physics class
very nice and easy she i svery knowledgeable... and will answer any question as long as it pertains to the class... highly recommend her
i love this woman!!! Shes funny and sweet and knows her stuff!! When doing lab reports dont forget percent error!!! Other than that she's pretty laid back.
Overall Physics is such a hard class and very time consuming. I didnt think it was this much work, but i found myself working very hard and not doing well. The only thing i didnt really like about her is her test quality. Her questions lack a lot of information and are not comprehensive. Also she does not do questions in class so its hard to follow
She is too good to be true!!!
She's a really nice professor.Makes the class interesting and is helpful with homework's or any material.Overall, she makes the class easy and somehow interesting.I would take her again for other courses
She is the best professor ever in BC. She is very helpful and tries to make the class easy for students. Highly recommended!
Her level is only good for high school. For a college level work, she's totally unhelpful. She does not give office hour, nor notes, and she spent most of time talking about irrelevant information. She tries to make jokes with her heavy Russian accent but totally not funny.
Most of these comments are skewed. Dr. Godenko is a great professor who explains rather complicated material in a manner that is easy to understand. Her class focuses on the aspects of physics that are required for standardized tests (GRE/MCAT/GMAT). She is a fair 'grader' and is always available if you need extra help.
It was very difficult for me to understanad her accent. Physics is hard enough for me so that made it harder. She was understanding and tried to be helpful but that didn't help me. Met with her twice for office hours ad joined Physics club. That helped alot but I still ended up withdrawing from the class.
She will do her best to make you pass. She is extremely helpful. She knows what she is teaching. If your going to take her as a core, you should go for it. 2 really easy midterms, and a final. She drops the lowest grade out of all. She gave us an extra credit.
I had her for my Physics lab professor and lets just say her accent is really bad. I can't understand what she is saying in class. But the good news is that she is very helpful during the lab and will practically give you the answers. I didn't have her in lecture but if you are, be warned of her heavy accent. Can't understand a word she says.
Very easy professor, but he english is horrible. Took her for a lecture class, her voice is just unbearable. I didn't drop the class only because it seemed very easy. She even gave us the option of deciding if we wanted test or assignments.
Accent is a little unbearable but very easy class nonetheless. Easiest A I've ever gotten. Never needed to use the book, just brought it to cite parts for my final but I only read about 10 pages out the book the whole semester. Easy assignments no test.
shes very nice but her exams are difficult ... She tries to help but still . The students who say she's easy either they cheat during exams or have took physics before. I hope she gives extra credit or something to help the students . I also hope that she curves
I had her for physics 1 before and she was very helpful. If you come to her office during office hours she explains everything. Her tests are somewhat difficult. If you do every question in the book you should be fine. You need to come to class to pass, especially to recitation. Physics is a hard class, not an easy A if you don't do problems.
She is "easy" because anyone could cheat EASILY in her class. Otherwise she is not . Her exams kill you alive . Her quizzes confusing . only about 5 attends the class. SHe is ToUgh . half of the class is passing (the experts on cheating) half of the class failing ( tried to cheat couldnt' or dont cheat) . BUT EVERYONE IN THE CLASS CHEatZ.
I dont get how BC hires people who can't teach. She is great for CORE PHYSICS NOT PHYSICS 1. There were a lot of people who made that mistake in my class and dropped it when they found out what class it is. Half the class has a 90 and above cause theyre cheating and she lets you, the other half is FAILING bec they don't know how to cheat. BAD PROF!
Thrs no clear grading criteria, she says if you failed two midterms and get a 90 on the final you'll get a B but if you got 2 90s in the midterm and a 80 on final u get a C- no logic here. I regret not dropping the class, big mistake. Also got confused by earlier reviews thinkng shes good, shes the WORST i have had thus far
You Will definitely PASS if you cheated in here exams. Tough luck for the ones who don't & end up failing .
She is not clear at all and expects you to know everything. Unless you solely focus on physics the entire semester and put aside your other classes you will have a very difficult time in this class. Learn how to read the formula sheet or be prepared to write your own. I would highly recommend you find another professor. Seriously.
Professor Dodenko isa very nice lady. She will stay after class to answer any questions you have. Get ready to do 1-3 presentations in her class. Her lectures are boring and its not because the topic is boring but because it is very hard to understand what she is saying. Her grading is confusing so i honestly do not know what grade to expect.
Can't understand a word she says. This particular class is easy, otherwise I don't know how I would have passed.
Her lectures aren't very clear, but she posts handouts on Blackboard that have all the information on them for the test. There are 3 non cumulative tests and she drops the lowest grade. For the tests she lets you bring a reference sheet and write whatever you want on it, so there's no memorization. She lets you do an easy presentation for EC.
Her accent makes her a bit hard to understand but she provides handouts, which have notes on whats covered in class. If you print them out beforehand and use them in class, it makes it a lot easier to follow. She allows you to use a reference sheet for her exam, and if you create one wisely you'll be fine. She's really nice and accommodating.
love her!
Godenko understands student workload from major classes and teaches her core class accordingly. Show up, do your presentation, write your assignments, and get an A. If you need a core and have a lot of other things going on this is the class for you.
(June 6,2016) Just saw my overall final grade, It's not fair what I got, I deserved HIGHER than this grade. Consider someone else. My GPA consists of A's and B's, and this is the only C I got :/
DON'T TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is a great lecturer and really helps you understand the material. Her accent takes a little time to get used to. She is willing to help during her office hours and really cares about her students. She understands that students are very concerned about exams and makes sure e.o is prepared well for them with practice probs.
This is the best professor for Physics by far in BC She takes the sometimes difficult concepts in the textbook and simplifies and makes them easy to comprehend She explain things on her own time like before class after class and anytime you just send her an email She also grades very reasonably with lots of partial credit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This is a really excellent professor i meet in physic class. when she knows some students have some problem, she explain to all his student. because she wants everyone to get an A in physics class, she is an excellent professor i know. I really receoment everyone to take her physics class
this is a really cool professor because she always helps her students. i cant agree more
Honestly, she is the best physics teacher i ever met.
This Physics teacher is excellent. She makes everything so easy to understand and explains thoroughly; tests are exactly what she went over in class and she has a comprehensive review with handouts before each test. The review is very similar to the test. The homework is directly related to the test. You don't even need the textbook. RECOMMEND!
she is the best physics teacher forever
This professor provides the review sheet to her students, and it is very similar with her exam sheets, so i always can get higher than 90
Because she really want everyone to pass her course, she gives the lowest scores which is 60+. No matter you pass her exam or not, she never give students lower than 60. I really recommand and will take her class again.
she is cool
good teacher
Easy A
I finally know why everyone like to take her class
A GOOD feedback is better than everything
there is no any physics teacher better than her
excellent
holy PROFESSOR In BC
review sheetextra creditmake up and take home exam
really easy A
very nice lady
very good
excellent PROFESSOR
All i can say is that he is indeed one of the best in his field at this school. Explains each topic down to the core. His quizzes are straight to the point. Expect a quiz every class. If you really want to pass discrete he is the right professor to take. He is such a sweet and polite man. He always asks if something is clear before moving on.
He's the most caring professor that you will meet on life. Def taking his class again. He makes you get an A yes or yes
What I remember is she made the test very easy, 2 midterm and 1 final, I finally get a A. No more thanks I can give you
I want to take physics 2 with this professor
Horrible horrible professor. Avoid at all costs
extremely lecture heavy! if you understand physics and can manage the concepts on your own youll do fine. Otherwise, good luck. Homework assigned with expert TA. Quizzes were, by her definition "easy" and only one question. So if you don't get it right you get a 0. Avoid.
she makes the test easy and I think she is the most easy A PHYSICS I met.
I am a PHYSICS major student and I never see this easy professor since only she makes the test easy
even though she has that Russian accent her teaching style is excellent
To me, she knows the subject but she just cant pass it on to all students because of language barrier. Her quizzes are easy but exams are somewhat difficult and she can make it more difficult if she notices a lot of good grades. Be ready to teach yourself throughout the entire semester if you cant adjust to her language.
Expected physics to be one of the worst classes I had ever taken however, it turned out to be one of the best classes I had ever taken because of professor Godenko
I fail my midtermbut I see the final is an A. ty
I took her class in 2017, I appreciate this professor since she makes me be a real college student
Love her! Very nice professor! 3 tests -1 drop, Quiz every week (only one question) and HW online. Just take this class with her. She is very kind and nice.
AVOID. Hard tests u can't cheat because of complaints, so shes really strict on that now. Bad tests, unwilling to curve or give ec. Really really bad professor, useless lecturer, should be fired.
Had her for lab, she was the sweetest professor ever. Do your work on time and follow her guidelines, you'll be fine. She is helpful and if you made a mistake she realizes its not the end of the world. I'd take her over any other physics prof.
Ok, I'm gonna be honest and say I couldn't understand a lot of the lectures because of her accent but that's not her fault at all. So, there may be some element of self-teaching here. That said, she's very sweet, she wants people to pass, and everything is laid out very clearly. I'd take her again and sit close to the front.
She loves showing how smart is she and how easy is physics for her. She doesn't believe in partial credit. When we had a midterm exam and the average was about failing she said as a response. "I don't understand, maybe next time you should study." Lectures are waste of time! she is not willing to provide feedback on quizzes and exams.
The professor does not know how to teach! she doesn't give feedback even when asked. Good students not necessarily will get good grades while bad students may. She doesn't believe in partial credit! beware!!
While I agree she isn't the greatest lecturer, she is extremely kind and does her best to help students succeed.
Very sweet lady and passionate for physics and wants you pass, however her lectures are not helpful since her slides contain useless information and she spends too much time deriving equations when the class is on tight schedule. She needs to do many more examples in class using the equations instead of deriving them all of class time.
Lectures can feel slow and drag on, but she is an incredibly nice person that wants all her students to succeed. She is a kind grader on exams and is accessible if you have questions. Put in the effort to know your physics and the exams will be alright.
This is my second time taking this course, not with this professor, although I wish had. Night and day difference. Clear explanations of the formulas, and solves problems in class that really help for exams and quizzes. Very knowledgeable and caring. Show and make an effort to succeed and the rest will click. Take her.
LOVE Prof Godenko! She is caring and understanding. Her lectures are interesting and she is very straight forward in tests and grading. She does reviews of the material that you need to know for your tests and she really wants you to succeed. She is not work heavy, just show up to your classes and do the tests and you'll pass.
Professor Godenko is an amazing professor. I had little physics knowledge prior to taking her course, and I truly feel confident in my physics abilities after finishing her class. I highly recommend taking any class with her, as she is one of the sweetest and most caring professors I've ever had. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed.
Great professor. Really cares about helping you learn the material.
An easy lesson and a wonderful one that I would advise you to take
I don't really have much to say besides her language barrier. It's kinda hard to understand what she says most of the time since her language barrier is very strong. Her slides are also boring and being in a class of 50+ students in a big class made me drained.
Her lectures are very boring and they don't teach you anything that is on the test. You have to read the books she wrote in order to understand somewhat of what's on test. She only grades you on quizzes and exams which isn't good because she doesn't teach anything that's on there. If you take her get ready to teach yourself everything.
DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE IS VERY BAD AT CLEARLY TEACHING THE MATERIAL AND THERE ARE A LOT OF QUIZZES THAT ARE VERY HARD.
The professor herself is very kind and sweet to her students. But if you want to pass, self-study is a must. She does not assign any work except a final assignment which is optional. This means that your final grading consists of attendance, quizzes, 2 exams, presentation, final assignment, and finals.
Professor Godenko is a very nice and respectful person. She knows the topic but cannot communicate them well to her students. If you take her class get ready to teach yourself most of the material. She doesn't give assignments or homework, which means you have to do well on the quizzes, the two lecture exams and the final.
AVIOD HER IF YOU CAN!!!!
Honestly the professor is very nice and caring, however most of what is on the exams, you're going to have to teach yourself. Also if your do not like public speaking there is a presentation worth 20% of your grade.
Professor Godenko is a caring instructor who breaks down concepts clearly. Attending lectures and using resources like unstuckstudy are key to succeeding in this course. It's challenging but worth the effort.
Very sweet professor, cares about her students, but her lecture style is not super clear. It's unfortunate at least 1/3 of the class cheats on her exams. Drops lowest midterm, lowest assignment, and 3 lowest quizzes (all except midterm are online). Exams are tough but fair.
Professor Godenko is very sweet and caring towards her students. Her exams are tough and her online assignments definitely make you work hard to get the answers. You will have to do a lot of self studying in the class to do well by doing textbook questions and ALL her online assignments and past quizzes. Lenient grader gives a lot of partial credit
Very sweet lady, does her best to try and boost her students' grades. Exams are tough but fair, yet a lot of students cheat which hurts your final curve. Attending lecture isn't enough, mostly conceptual with little practice of exam questions. YOU HAVE TO SELF STUDY by reviewing the assignments and quizzes, she gives enough resources to get an A.
