Can come off unlikable but a very good professor 90% of tests are notes
Seems unlikable but is very clear in explaining things. Test are based on notes.
HE'S VERY CLEAR AND HIS EXAMS ARE STRAIGHT FROM THE NOTES.
Really great professor. This guy SERIOUSLY knows what he's talking about. Hands down BEST economics professor I had at SJU. Honestly though, in his classes what you put in is exactly what you'll get.
Wonderful professor, you will learn alot and remember what you learned. First look like he is hard but very easy.
Excellent prof. The best i've had so far @ SJU. His lectures are clear and understandable. he gives excellent notes. you know exactly what to study for test. if u take good notes, u're set. he's not that helpful, doesnt let u slide on anything.
Dr. Buechner is brilliant in his lectures and teaching style. However, he grades completely too tough. He basically wants you to state the answer (on his essay exams) the way he says it, not the textbook. Otherwise, he deducts points even if it's right.
Horrible. Do not take his class. you will regret it. Tests are real hard. Word for word like a dictionary and if you dont know it word for word, you fail. Your welcome for this advice.
Avoid this guy at all costs. You need to read 3-4 books almost every 3 weeks and mountains of classnotes. Stingy with the grades too! I mistakenly misread the class offerings and enrolled, I would give anything to have prof Muzzio teaching this course!
very demanding- will have you read and master+8 books during the semester's course and he will think you are indebited to him because he gave you a C+. Look else where there are many other ecomonic professors are SJU. He is a JOKE! you were warned!
Very difficult and a bit openly parrinoid. He always assumes that most students are attempting to "get over,". It is true you will read a great deal and he takes it personal if you do not quoate him word for word-your grades will reflect his ang
Love the guy. He gives tests straight from the notes and his teaching style is one that allows you to remember what he actually teaches. Take him if you can. He's soo funny as well.
You actually learn in this class. Show up on time and every class and u get extra credit. You dont need a textbook, the tests are from the notes. Its like elementary school all over, he writes the notes word for word on the board, it cant get easier than that.
HE IS VERY INCITEFUL. YOU WILL ACTUALLY LEARN FROM HIS CLASS. NO NEED TO BUY ANY BOOKS. JUST SHOW UP ON TIME. TAKE HIS NOTES, STUDY THE NOTES AND YOU WILL GET A B OR BETTER. HE REVIEWS FOR EXAMS WHICH COME STR8 FROM THE NOTES. TAKE HIM!
Easiest teacher ever. Reviews the notes from previous class every day. Nobody got lower than a B in my class. Def take him for a good grade.
Dr. Buechner does not allow for creativity. If you want an A, LITERALLy regurgitate the notes. Do not buy the book for it is useless with his method of teaching. We only got through 4 chapters because his pace is turtle-slow. Dr. B gives 3 exams, 1 paper and a final. He gives review sheets for exams
Class isn't too bad, but you have to take the notes and pay attention..he likes to call on people randomly.Tests are multiple choice and true/false...they also have questions from readings (which you can get a B without reading them) He's super paranoid and takes attendance EVERY DAY.
was an ok professor...i thought i did good in the class...apparently he didnt give me that good of a grade

His class is quite interesting even though he does pretty much lecture straight from the text. The material isnt too difficult. He runs the classroom pretty well by making sure people show up on time--which is very respectable. He is professional and a class act. Recommended

must take professor super nice and easy no need to buy the book just come everyday and write down everything he says all tests straight from his notes word for word plus get extra credit for attendance and paper plus he reviews all notes at beginning of every class so easy guaranteed B-A no lower
At first don't be scared, very easy class. Go to every class on time and study notes. Guaranteed A or B and an extra credit paper is given just in case. Very nice man just give him a chance.
Relatively easy. Very straightforward, very clear. Must show up to class everyday, note taking is a must. No HW. Tests come 100% from inclass notes. Recommended, but don't take the morning class if you can help it. Picks on you if you're falling asleep. Like I could help it at 735AM.
this man is crazy . he thinks he is always right. he is not helpful. is is unclear. many times he confusses himself, which is not good for the students who want to learn clearly.
so straight fwd. take this class. no hw, two test and final, everything is straight from the notes, he gives good notes and goes over them twice, day he teaches lesson and the next day before he starts a new one. take him!
this should have been a class on eco but all he tested was ur ability to memorize answers..he gives u a big bank of questions (short answer/essay) before the test & chooses about 8 to answer..goes over it all in the class b4..memorize the answers and you get an A...takes off points for every little mistake..one term paper but i made it all up

hard grader, tests are horrible... 7 essay q's plus 5 short ans... don't take him
Gives you the list of questions for the tests and picks a couple from it. Expects you to memorize and regurgitate every little detail. Getting an A is definitely possible by doing the extra credit and not being late/absent to class. He confuses himself a lot so use that you get back points he took off on your test! Not a bad class at all.
Super easy class! He gives u the answers! what more can u want? He's fair. Doesnt like lateness though.
I 1st had with ECO 1302 and then with 1326... Pretty easy... Show up to class and on time everyday, get 10 extra pts. and his M.C. & T/F tests come straight from his notes, word for word... He doesn't use a textbook in 1302, but in 1326 he expects you to read parts from 3-4 books (10 ?'s will be asked based upon those parts. He does give an extra credit assignment that's worth up to 25 pts. One of the easier ECO prof's...
He is a very smart man, good teacher, notes are great. But i dislike him. The way he acts makes him come off as arrogant. I don't feel that he respects us as students, he looks down upon us. I feel that he thinks he is better than us, and he makes a lot of stupid, corny jokes which don't make any sense, yet people laugh at them to suck up.
The worst i've ever had. He doesn't want you to learn, he wants you to memorize his notes and put them on the paper. I was studying for the first test a lot, and I though i understand everything.........no way, I got 82 .....afterwards I just memorized his notes exactly and got 95.......didn't understand a crap though........decide for yourself we
if you want to pass his test you need to memorize his notes. great professor. he make everything seems so easy. i wanted to drop him at first because there is no curve in this class but it turn out okay.
Horrible!he is useless when it comes to compromising with students. You dont really learn. All he wants is what he says and his notes and spew it back on his exams..NOT really learning at all. Please if you wanna pass his exams memorize his exact words;2 midterms and an 8 question essay final in 2hrs.Escape him at all costs.pleaseeeeeee!
he is not a good teacher he thinks he is though his final was long with long essays and you have to write word for word as HE said it..dont take him whatsoever

Two test and a final. You will definitely get an A if you go to his classes and take notes (or at least borrow noteS) and study your notes. He stresses the points he will test over and over, can't miss it. Also, gives you extra points for attendance even though it's not mandatory and will give extra credit paper. I definitely recommend.
a really nice professor - somewhat weird in some of his rules. half the class time is spent reviewing last class' notes. tests r strictly from what he goes over in class - no textbook. great for econ 1302 but for econ history a lot of books r required as a reading assignement n that makes it a little harder to do well on the test. otherwise easy
great professor...highly recommend taking him....I didnt really even read the readings and still got an A...just make sure u memorize his notes word for word and you'll do fine....must take
Tests are pretty easy just have to memorize his notes word for word. Takes up half the class going over last class' notes. DO NOT take him if you don't like to be called on - he calls on everyone ALL THE TIME.. overall tests are easy , no hw, if late he marks you absent.
Prof. Buechner is a good professor. His tests come straight from his notes, no textbook needed. He takes attendance every class and calls on a lot of people to answer his questions. You actually learn in this class. One of the best economics teachers - I highly recommend him.
Pompous professor. We have seating arrangements like were in kindergarten, and we sit 2 rows apart and 3 seats for tests that we dont even take in the classroom, we take in a theater! LOL 4 pts off to borrow a pencil, no makeups, extra credit project WAY to involved. He has no respect for his students so I'll show him no respect on here. Avoid him!
i agree with the last comment: not a very nice guy, needs to loosen up. HOWEVER, not textbook, everything on the exams are from his notes directly. optional extra credit paper can raise the grade, but his class isn't really that hard. just prepare to deal with his attitude.
Prof. Buechner's class will require you to put in time (attend) and study, and earn your grade to the amount of effort you put in. Fair professor, intelligent man, crystal clear in his lectures, but if you want input on his attitude, think a wannabe "House". However, the good overwhelmingly surpasses the bad so I would highly recommend this class.
Buechner is alright. Once you get used to his system, it's pretty interesting. Be prepared for class, his notes are online so just follow along. The assigned books are pretty boring, but 10 questions on the test are devoted to the books. i got an A- without reading the books, but I recommend the class.
Very knowledgeble and knows his material well. Very interesting class. Easy material and he really makes it clear. Alot of readings and it's too much especially if you take 12 or more credits. If you study hard and attend at all times, then expect a good grade. I'd say B is what you should expect.
what a freaken professor!never chose him!
Honestly, the material is not hard and with any other teacher this would be an easy filler class. He has a bad attitude. Doesn't use the textbook and tests are directly from notes, so if you just read over them it's a piece of cake. If you want a nice guy, though, avoid Buechner at all costs!!
The work is stupid. I am not the person who can memorize a person's exact wording without making sense of the material and that is what he requires. Excellent lectures. Difficult tests and RIDICULOUSLY tough grader. I have taken difficult teachers but I give them credit for tryin to motivate us...this is just stupid. Went to every class, AVOID HIM.
He is pretty mean. He treats us like we're in High School and wants us to memorize his lectures word for word, that is the only way we will do well on the tests. Basically reviews the last class every class. Go over your work constantly or you won't do well.
not a bad professor, just memorize his notes which he provides online.he has his rules n u need to stick by them (no eating, don't chew gum!) attendance is not mandatory but it's extra credit, as is being late. bring ur laptop, and jus be attentive now n then! suck up and be on his good side,he seems like the type to mess with ur grade if nething~
tough. hard to get A in the class. if you miss one of the exams, i suggest you drop the class. if you are not diligent guy, not choose his class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(
Hard to really understand sometimes. Monotone voice. Notes are online. Reviews previous class in the beginning of the class.
Horrible professor! He spits, hes cocky, and hes a tough grader! I scored in the 90's on all his exams and got a C+??!! Avoid him at all costs if possible.
very nice and easy-going man. He doesnt give homework at all. you don't need the textbook if you attend every class because he gives the notes for whats on the test. the book is only for if you dont go to class, you could read it and understand what a topic was about. hes very helpful and tries to make you understand.
fair guy, likes teaching, take him if you want to learn. he will teach you what you need to pass and get a good grade. no surprises in his classes, what you see in lectures what you get on the tests
Old school professor. Students can't eat, talk, walk out of the class. Very knowledgeable person. Listen carefully and take notes. Exams are directly from the notes. Had 5 books to read. Not that expensive though. Gives reader's guide just answer those questions. He asks 25% questions in the exam from the readings. I liked a lot but not everyone did
dont take him. the guy will lower your grade in any way. miss test, lower your grade; come to test after someone finish, lower your grade; absent, lower your grade. etc.the best way is to avoid him becasue you will never expect any consideration and help from him
I like Dr.Buechner very much. That is ture that he is a serious guy.But you can learn much knowledge in his class. The exams are based on what he write in the blackboard. You can use computer in his class. He will reveiw last class notes before begin the new class.
I will say that this class is not too hard on the basis that the exams come straight from the stuff he writes on the board. However, I would not recommend him at all. He is an extremely strict "My way or the highway" kind of professor. He can be very insensitive & condescending in his responses at times. Don't expect any sympathy or help from him.
If you study for around 30 minutes to an hour for each test you should get an A or A- he's not here to trick you. HIs test is straight from the notes. there are no papers or homework. your grade is 100% tests. there are 3 tests. the first two out of 150 the final is out of 200.
Easy A. Lots of reading but not impossible. Just pay attention in class and you'll get an A. He's not strict, he's old fashioned. It's not that serious. I enjoyed the class.
Take notes, he says what to write down. Also offers his own notes that you can print out. Starts off class by reviewing notes from previous class. No food or drink but big deal. Laptop is ok. 3 tests and a cumulative final. If you miss a test, the percentage of that test goes to your final. just read over notes twice before test and you can get a B
class is not too bad. he reads his notes the whole class that he posts online. he tries hard to trick you on exams. his exams are weighted differently than any class ive taken. wouldnt recommend
Professor Buechner calls students out so be prepared for that. Read the notes or you will pass. You must follow along in class. Do the extra credit because you're going to need it. His tests are worded weird and confusing... 2 answers sound exactly the same... I wouldn't recommend him.
I really enjoyed his class. Three tests, no homework whatsoever. He is very methodical and clear. Tests are alright. Study and you'll be fine. He teaches in a slow pace, so you do not fall behind. I recommend him
I'm a management major that took this class as my ECON elective. You need to record his lectures, take notes, and do all the extra credit you can. I played games on my laptop all class, but I went to all the extra credits, did the "optional paper" and got b+'s on all the tests. I ended up with an A in the class. Not as bad as they make it seem.
Professor Buechner's test are straight from his lectures. Pay attention and take good notes in class and you'll do very well.
Boring class and he doesn't help make it interesting, does give extra credit but very small amounts; very few chances to boost your grade so you have to be on top of your work.
Very clear with what the course will entail and grading. Offers extra credit, better take advantage. My semester the term paper was mandatory and worth 20% of our grade. This is the only complaint I have he graded this paper harshly and was not open minded.
You really need to study to even make a B possible. The majortity of the class did not do well on the exams. He handed out C's and D's like it was candy. Hes a tough grader, if you do have to take him make sure you dedicate lots of time to study. He's also not very inspiring for any economic major or related majors.
Very respectable professor, he always gives it his best to make sure you understand. While he can be a little boring if you just pay attention and take notes the class won't be that bad. He cares about participation so speak up in class and answer questions even if your wrong!
Don't get the textbook, he doesn't use it. If you listen to his lectures you should be fine like a solid b+. His personality isn't the best however, if you didn't hear a question he refuses to repeat until like 6 other kids ask. But easy class and he gives extra credit opportunities
Do not buy the textbook, didn't use at all. Overall he is not a bad professor as long as you study his notes verbatim and pay attention in class. However his personality sucks, he will call randomly on people and refuse to repeat the question and belittle some people for not answering correctly. 2 tests and a cumulative final.
Be ready to participate and pay attention in class. Follow his notes but also write down anything he says that isn't in the notes because it will most likely be on the test. Study a lot for the exams. All tests are multiple choice and true false questions. Clear on what you will be graded on.
Not a horrible professor but his personality ruins the class. Rude and likes to belittle students who don't know the answer at random. You are graded on 2 tests and a cumulative final. The first test was straight from the notes and the second was much more difficult. Definitely need to study for this class in order to get a B or higher.
Go to class, take notes (the tests are based on his lecture notes), and you should be fine.
Dr. Buechner gives 2 exams and 1 final. He does not give any review days before each exam, and 1/2 the class failed the 2nd exam with a 60 or less. His lectures are understandable, but you need to study EXTREMELY HARD FOR THE FINAL. NOT A FRIENDLY PROF WHO GIVES CURVES EITHER.
Dr. Buechner gives 2 exams and 1 final. The first exam had material straight from the notes but the 2nd exam had excess "unclear" material on it. More than 1/2 of our class failed the 2nd exam with over 15 F's given! The only good thing about this class is that there are at least 4 extra credit events offered for the term worth 5 points.
He's terrible, he hates his students and doesn't even curve the exams even when half the class got F's. He also laughs at you when you give the wrong answer when he calls on you at random and makes you feel dumb. AVOID!! you'll thank me later
Probably the meanest professor I've had in all my life. He laughs at you if you do not know the answer at random and belittles his students. He has also said some pretty racist remarks towards the international Asian students. Terrible personality, do not take!!
He's the best professor I've ever had. He tells you how to do well. DO IT. Lectures are very clear and you learn a lot of stuff from him. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities if you don't do well on the exams. 2 midterms and a final. If you pay attention and memorize his study guides you should get an A. If you are lazy dont argue.
Awful. He is the worst do not take all the bad reviews I read from other people are 100% accurate. Don't do it
To be reliable, I only had a few Bs but no C in my four years. There is no extra credit on the exams. Those are the kindest thing he gives you to have a more complex exam. Grading is very tough and attendance is almost mandatory. (Even though he said no, it will affect your grade and you miss important stuff) Do you have him? Drop it immediately!
If you have him, drop him immediately. One of the worst professors I have ever taken at St. John's. Unclear grading criteria.
Horrendous class, unclear grading, course schedule non-existant, made several racial remarks towards minority students throughout the semester. The cream of the crop when it comes To professors who dont care about their students. Do not take.
