He really makes an effort to help students understand the course material. He conducts reviews before every exam and he makes study sheets.

Very Helpful professor, the only reason why you can fail this class is that if you didn't LOOK at the sudy aids he gives you. Quizes, Essay Questions - they're all there. Funny Guy. Lectures could be more exciting.

you dont need to buy the book he has great hand outs. go to the lecture and pay attention to what he says. he usually would say what he asks in the exams. great man you would like his class. he has quiz all the time though you need to study all the time but he is great

Dr. Alam was great. He posts all the notes online and he also provides easy to use study guides which give you every bit of info you need for the test. Also, his notes have all the info you need. After the first test I stopped using the book... So you could save around $250 and skip the book. He even has some funny jokes.

If you are motivated to study and learn about biology take his course. His notes online will help a lot. Just remember this is not highschool, you will be expected to study. Like any other college course there is no easy way in getting an A unless you study. I am a bio major and simply loved his course.

He made me love Biology. Provided chapters outline. The book was sometimes needed for more clarity, but pretty much all was in the outline. Dont study only from the outline and daydream of an easy A, go to the lecture even when there's no quiz, he has a lot more to tell. Tests are easy if you study. Biology needs memorization. Sweet A in spr 09, :D

I love Dr. Alam, he really knows what he is talking about and if you pay attention in class, you will understand the material. The class is demanding and takes a lot of studying but this only means you are actually learning the subject.I highly recommend him, especially to people who are interested in science.

His genetics class is neither too easy nor too hard. He offered a lot of bonus points, changed class schedule, delayed exams and deleted contents. Still, many classmates failed, simply because it is really difficult. He appears strict, and sometimes goofy, but is actually really nice, remembers your name well and answers your questions.

He is a GREAT teacher. He doesn't take attendance and he thinks its your choice if you want to pass or not. He lectures off of his powerpoint and you only use the book if you need more information when you study. He is very helpful and a nice person. If you're willing to study and learn take him! I loved him, great professor.

The class is difficult but if you put the effort, he will help you! There is no such thing as an easy "A" in BI107, so work hard.

Dr. Alam has to be one of the Professors that I have ever had.I took it in the summer it flew by, we had tests back to back, but because he was so knowledgable about the subject matter it actually made learning fun. Use text book, use the practice quizzes. If you work hard an A is totally possible.

Dr. Alam is very knowledgeable in his discipline. He gives everybody his presentations prior the class. Tests are very hard and, yes 50% fail. To succeed, just follow his system, show up to class, ask questions, and read the text book on your own. Those who fail are not disciplined, or not prepared.

Dr.Alam is a great prof. the class consits of a lot of notetaking and it is mandatory for you to attend class. the labs, tests, and quizzes are difficult. but as long as you study and come to class you should be fine. he is clear and uses many examples to help students better understand the matterial.

Dr.Alam is very easy, his tests are straight forward and always gives bonus questions. I took this class over the summer and it just flew by. He also gives many examples and always has an analogy to many complicated concepts. If you do his practice tests ( where he pulls MC from on the real test), easy A!

He is a great teacher. He holds study groups once a week and they really help out when you take the exams.He also gives extra credit on exams which definitely helps your grade. His ultimate goal is for all of his students to do well. I would recommend you take his class.

He is a really good teacher who is devoted to teaching his students biology. He thoroughly explains concepts and creates analogies to help you memorize easier. He offers review sessions once a week to help you with extra studying. He said that you will need tot study 3 hours a day. I did, and I got an A. You must put the time in.Head of dept

He is great. It was my first Biology course and he made me love this course. we had so many make up, so we reviewd all the materials with him. if you participate in his make up class you will get an A. I got 100 :)

I got an F the first time I took this class, I retook it with Alam and got an A. This man doesn't stop teaching until you understand. He gives so much extra credit it feels wrong. He cares so much about the students performance and wants everyone to pass. He holds review sessions for each lecture. No one dropped the class all semester. Great man!!!

This is the BEST professor I have ever had; very nice, knows his material, very organized, very humble yet intelligent, very patient, holds lab review sessions which are excellent, gives so much extra credit on exams, easy tests,do I need to go on?????? You don't even need to buy the book, his power points are where all the test questions come from

Professor alam is the top bio 107 professor in the rockville department take him and u will not regret. I took him during summer section 1 it was hard class but he gave us extra points and he is willing to help you with your gradehe knows his information very well he is not that good in lab he came late often but his lectures is very helpful

Dr. Alam teaches right from the powerpoint slides, which is great if you hate reading texts like me. He is very kind and funny and gives great lectures with lots of real-world, relatable examples. If you take his lecture, take his lab too. His tests aren't super easy, sometimes they're a bit tricky. Good Prof. overall.

Great Professor! He uses many anologies that help you understand the material. Took bio the first time with another professor and had a D. I have an A with Dr. Alam. He's funny and gives a lot of review material on blackboard.

Pay attention! If he sees that you aren't putting in the effort he won't show you mercy. Other than that if you show respect he will reciprocate it. When reviewing labs he lets the class know what's important for the exam so everything is pretty much clear. He does a final review a class before each exam so you know what to study for. Go to lab!

Gives review classes before every exam so students know which topics/terms to study. If he did not mention it in class or not in his slides, it is most probably not gonna be in the exam. Gives real life examples to better understand the topic.

Dr. Alam is a good professor he cares about his students grades hes approachable and understanding. He gives you the information you need to review for exams. Just be careful do not fall behind on reading because you will not do well in the exams. He provides you all the information needed to succeed in his class.

He said that the start of the course he "doesn't care if you fail" then at the end of the class when about 60% of the class dropped the course he said "its my job to make you all pass" You must show up to all classes or he will fail you

GOAT prof. His lectures are great and has a sense of humor. Easy exams with no curveballs and many easy questions, literally just pay attention in lectures and participate in labs, the quizzes are the biggest study tool. He's caring & patient - just know how to do basic arithmetic and pay attention when he talks about assignments and deadlines.

He's strict and sassy, but he really cares for his students. Taking his classes is not for the weak. There are also no assignments in this class; all you have to do is show up for class and be ready for the labs. The exams are super easy, and pro tip: go to his lab reviews; he literally talks about the blueprint of the lab exam.

Not for the weak! He teaches in a way that helps you understand but also makes sure you've ingrained the material. His lab was easily the most fun, relaxing, and relatively easy part. He's not as bad as they say. Hilarious dude with many interesting examples to give his students on each topic. Can't recommend because only the strong could survive.
