Really good professor, she gives great notes, interesting lectures and only gives out 2 assignments for the semester which are really easy. Her tests are not that difficult, overall a great professor!

When you first meet her you'll think she's a total ****. But stay in her class! She's actually kind of cool and funny. Her lectures are really interesting and helpful. The book is also really interesting. Just make sure you take notes and you'll do fine. Tests are multiple choice.

OMG I loved this class!!! She is an amazing teacher. I learned more than i could have even imagined! to pass the class, just go to class EVERY SINGLE DAY and review her extremely thorough notes!! totally recommend it to anyone even if u hate the subject!

Michelle is so cool. She will make you laugh. Dont mess around, dont leave cell phones on. Otherwise easy class. She gave two tests and one seven page paper that involved watching tv. Can it get any better. Plus she is a cool women.Take this class it is also very interesting. I would take her again.

She is tall. She writes outline notes on board. Hard to write and listen to lectures at the same time. Her tests are hard. She goes into details like names and dates. Her writing assignments are easy. I wouldn't recommend her to any one.

I have no idea what anybody is talking about. This teacher is a bi#ch. She thinks she's really funn when she's not. Also, she presses her liberal views on others and it is quite obvious that she is a huge feminist. The tests aren't that bad at all, just look at terms in the book and you'll be fine.

Study the outlines and read the book and you will be fine. Her class is very fun i look forward to it everyday. her tests are from the outline and if you use the website in the sociology book some of the practice test questions are on the actual test. shes cool and funny

very interesting class...she writes everything on the board, so its really clear. READ THE TEXT...the ??'s from the test are SURE to come from there...if u don't read u won't do well, but the class is super interesting, with lots of good topics if ur into that kind of thing...i would definitely recommend taking her

By far my favourtie general ed. class at CSUN. She is very funny, grades fairly and her tests aren't that hard as long as you show up to class and take notes.

READ THE BOOK its the only way of passing the classs. Its an interesting class. SHE IS REALLY TALL she is funny.

I don't get the bad remarks for her. she was a great teacher, interesting, not hard. as long as you showed up to the class and took notes, the test was a breeze. she has a good humor and gets the class integrated.

Fun Class! She seems intimidating at first but it's just to scare you! She treats every1 like adults and is very funny in her humor... no attendance but this is a class you like showing up to for the funny lectures... you get the same grade on the tests if you study or not... you'll get a c like every1 else.

She was really funny and taught really well. Gave good notes. 2 Projects and no homework. Do the reading and you'll be fine. Doesn't check attendance but I recommend going because she gives good notes. Pretty easy class.

Very fun and interesting class! She's a little intimidating at first, but within the first weeks of class, she becomes a really cool teacher. Go to class, take notes, and read the chapters....you'll pass. One of my favorite classes I've taken!

I loved this class! The prof is so lively and interesting. Shes clear and gives great notes. However, most of the test comes NOT from notes, but from the reading. You HAVE to read to pass the tests. There is a big project as well; watch seven hour long documentaries and write seven one page papers, but its fun and she grades it easy.

LOVE her class. she is HILARIOUS. dont be crying cuz you guys suck at studying and in return get the grades you deserved. her projects are a BLAST and although she's strict on punctuality, she knows her stuff. i'd definately recomment her soc class to ANYONE. i'm thinking of taking a crim. just. class of hers. =)

Class isn't hard like people say. I'm a C student and got a B in the class. U must read the book to pass exams. I noticed she uses the practice test questions from the book website for the tests so study those too! Btw, she's only scary/intimidating the 1st couple weeks of school. She does that so people take her seriously. Funny after that.

Interesting class. May come off as boring, but interesting and exams are based on lectures and readings. You don't have to read a lot, just review the summaries for a quick review and of course the lectures.Exams are fair, however, if you do read regularily, you will do better on exams.

She was easy enough. I got a good laugh in when students came in late. I only showed up to about 1/2 of the class sessions. I just read the chapters that we were being tested on right before the exams and I passed with a B or higher every time. Only 5 exams the whole semester, no essays. Attendance not mandatory. Easy enough.

A relative easy class so as long as you read the book thoroughly. 5 tests, 20% each. Attendance is not mandatory. A good class to take but majority of what you learn is on your own. She isn't always available to help students.

If you pay close attention, you catch her sarcastic jokes and they are nothing short of hilarious. She can be cold and hard to judge. Some people, she is very nice to. Others, not so much. You don't need to go if you read. Don't be late!!! Don't text. I did not like that the information is spoon fed to you and that there is no discussion about the topics. It could be very interesting otherwise. I don't know. I don't like learning from a book.

I loved this class. At first she does seem extremely unapproachable, however when she begins to teach you learn that she's very experienced, funny, sarcastic, and knowledgeable. All her exams are pretty much based on the book, even the little side stories, so I guess you can skip class as long as you read the chapters she lectures on.

Took Scaife for 474, might seem strict on the first day. As the semester goes on she is actually really nice and helpful. She knows her stuff, and tells personal stories based on a topic she is covering from the book. Class based on a 5 pg paper (really easy), and 5 exams(consists of MC, TF, fill in the blank and 2 short answers). Take her.

This Professor is a great professor. Professor Scaife lectures the whole time but makes it so easy to comprehend. Attendance is not mandatory but it is how you get notes. Professor Scaife doesn't care about attendance. Either go to class and take good notes or read the assigned chapters (thoroughly annotate) to pass the exams. She doesn't give many assignments and the ones she does give are based on videos/ short readings. Pretty easy class. Took her twice and both times were not stressful.

Pay attention to lectures and read the book! There isn't much homework, and when there is, it is super easy, videos and short readings followed by a short essay, nothing hard. Exams are easy if you read the textbook and take good notes in class. She doesn't answer emails, but she does answer Canvas. She allows makeup quizzes if you miss them.
