he's all right. it's not as easy as people have said he is. you do have to study. he wants everyone to do well, so he gives the exam questions ahead of time too, but the concepts are hard to understand if you're not a religious person.

He's excellent, I'm telling you, religious or not you will take any course of his and love it. 55 minutes flies by. Don't be fooled and take any others, he cares about the interest of you the student!!! take him:)

Very good professor.

Whalen is very easy. Don't buy the books he doesn't use them. Before each test he gives a review sheet and contains all the questions for the test and gives the answers. You'll be finished with the test in 15 minutes.

Midterm, final, 2 papers and a presentation. Just take down his notes and do well on the few assignments. He wants his students to do well, and he should be an easy A. If he is sarcastic, it only adds flavor to the class, which can get boring at times.

Father Whalen is one of the most intelligent teachers i have ever encountered. His ability to use words to convey his notes is amazing. He keeps me interested even tho I really would rather not be taking this course (its a requirement)

Two tests (one can be dropped and he gives out review sheets for this and the final), final, paper, group project (which he gives PLENTY OF TIME FOR). He lets you know exactly what he wants with everything. The man.

makes the class a little more difficult than it actually is. he grades extremely easy and towards the end doesnt really take attendence. try to make him your last class bc he is absent a lot and doesnt tell you. overall hes pretty easy id take him again

EZ A 2 tests..1 of which is dropped can use index card on test...1 group project (no1 gets < A-)..ez 3pg paper...final based on group projects (each group makes up quest n hands out 2 class so we noe quest n ans ahead of time) he's absent alot n lets class out early alot..what more do u want?..com 2 class tho has diff ways of takin attend each time

Very easy prof. Gives you LOTS of HINTS (basically ALL) for exams. Can bring notes in. Funny - you laugh most of the class. He misses class a lot too which is even cooler.

i think he gives way too many unnecessary work. don't get me wrong, they are simple + easy to complete but its time consuming. he can't seem to manage time properly (e.g. we have like 40 mins to take an exam instead of 55 mins.. he waste most of the time w/attendance..) his exams are easy but the reviews are so time consuming. hes okay for theo req

Great professor. He knows what he is talking about and can answer. Emails the notes out as well as reviews in class. 3 tests, can drop one, and use half a note card of notes on each. A worship log paper and a group presentation. Attendance not very important as long as you have an excuse. I enjoyed the class.

Horrible at time management and goes off on tangents but it's a fairly easy class. You get to drop a test and he gives alot of review as well as notes emailed to you. If he wasn't so nice, you could find him really annoying.

Lets make this simple...if you get less than an A-in this class, something is wrong with your college career. I hate to be so blunt but Father Whalen outlines EVERYTHING. Tests are easy and the final was quite easy (as it was based on group presentations). Plus, you can drop one test (not final). Group project, paper=EZ. Nice guy, too & helpful.

This guy is really really easy. He basically gives you all the info you need for exam. I had him before and didnt have to buy the books and dont now. Only bad thing is that you have to laugh at his sarcastic jokes so he'll like you and give you good grade. Another bad thing if you dont get him in class tough to get him on phone or email.

This guy is great. He is very kind, helpful and sometimes funny. His tests are a breeze becuase he gives you a review sheet and the questions are based solely on that. The class was very easy and i learned more from him than any other professor. You don't even have to copy the powerpoints becuase he e-mails them to you. --Simply the Best--

One of the best professor at SJU. You will learn alot from this guy. Lectures are very Interesting. Shows a tremendous amount of respect towards his students and is extremely helpful. I just wish that all of my other professors are like him. Highly Recommended, for those who really want to learn. Trust me, you will not regret taking him!

Really great teacher. Gives you EVERYTHING you need. Pulls no surprises. Comes across as really tough at first but then eases up as class went on. Even gave us the last week of class off to finish our work. I would take him but his classes get filled so quickly. He is one of the best I have had at SJU and I am not even Catholic!

hes probably the easiest teacher you'll have. there are 10 quizzes, a midterm, a final, and 5 essays... i know it may sound like alot but they are EXTREMELY easy because he gives you the questions to each one...you just need to have a pulse to get an A in this class and hes a really nice guy.

Most generous teacher-buys books for students & gives teachers notes. If all STJ profs did that students wouldnt be poor & uninterested. Another cool thing is that FrW is also administrator so he has to go to meetings alot which means...cancelling class. You end up not having class alot. Only thing not cool is that u find out last min :(.

Buys some books you need for the class. Buys hot chocolate, donuts, and bagels as much as he can and gives out a lot of chocolate on holidays. Easy tests that are straight from the notes, gives study guide and sometimes lets us open our notebooks while he prays a decade of the roary. 2-3 one page papers. Cutest old man, take him easy A

This is the prof 2 take for 1000C. If u freshman, you gotta transfer into his class. Get on waiting list if u need 2. It is worth it. Class is really easy. If u dont get A, ur fault. The guy is easy, gives you answers, buys food, books, presents for class. Class meets only 2 of 3 x a week. Usually cancels at least 1x a week.Get on this prof!

He is the best professor at SJU and I'm not just saying that. He is very generous. He buy books for the students, give candies and other treats for most holidays, and have pizza parties. He's usually ten minutes late and spends most of the class telling stories. Do whatever you can to get in his class.!!

He is the most generous professor I have ever met. Easy grader and empathic to all students. Buys students textbooks if it is a big necessity. Easy to joke around with and not much work. He gives a few essays and though you may never get it back, you shouldn't worry about the grade. take him!

even if there werent any free food or gifts being given by Father Whalen, i would take his class again because it's very easy, fun, and laid back. he is very nice and care a lot about the students. take him if you can.

I took him for 2 semesters and got an A both times. Simple 2-3 page papers that are basically common sense, e-mails you all the notes before classes and gives you ton of free candy. Hes honestly my favorite professor and not only because his work is easy but he's really understanding and lets you e-mail a paper if you dont have it dont on time.

Simply the best. 2 or 3 simple papers. Easy mideterm, easy final. Great guy too. DO NOT HESITATE. Pizza parties.

I, too, took him for all 3 theologies. He truly is an amazing man. The class is simple and enjoyable and a garunteed A if you show up and put in any amount of effort. He is always willing to help out and offer extensions, and will bring pizza, coffee or candy for the class. He is the greatest man I've met at STJ, take him, you'll love him.

I was really disappointed with this course, because we haven't discussed half of the stuff that was on the Syllabus. I have nothing against the professor but would rather advice to take someone else.

if you attend class its an automatic A. i can gurantee it (que trump voice). Greatest human being ever when u get something wrong hell still manage to accept the wrong answer. i remember i got a 100 on his midterm and i got 6 of them wrong, he literally gave us points for providing answers. great human being. also alot of free drinks and food.

As far as tests and quizzes go, he gives you the questions before hand. He e-mails the powerpoints to you if you ask. Final is not cumulative and the midterm is the same questions from the midterm packet. Make sure you write down the notes on the board. He's nice and really funny. Bonus: he always buy donuts and hot chocolate.

Best teacher ever you have to take him for theology he's a really funny guy and he always sends me to get dunkin donuts for the class almost every class and as long as you show up and do the work that is assigned and you show some effort you will most definitely get an A.

Fr. Whalen is the BEST theology professor ever. He is hysterical, especially in his extra credit questions for the quizzes. Be prepared though he assigns a lot of papers but they are no more but no less than one page double spaced. Super lenient in grading. Side note he buys the class Dunkin all the time. I would definitely take him again.

You make the decision on your own but I am taking him for 2000 because he gave us all his notes & power points, goes slow enough for me to understand, buys you the books you'll need for the class, grades easy don't know anyone who didn't get As, and every class runs on Dunkin with coffee and sometimes donuts. Decision made yet? ;)!

One of my favorite professors at SJU. He is kind, compassionate, calm, and grades very fairly. He makes it so easy to do well and makes sure you know how to do the assignments. Plus, he brings Dunkin Donuts to class several times during the semester! Highly recommend.
