I absolutely LOVE Professor Finck. He is so funny, and is very clear on what you need to know for tests. He will harp on knowing lists and this is so true. When you take his class, memorize any kind of lists he gives you (they aren't long, usually like 3 or 4 things to remember). Also, he is a life saver when it comes to office hours, very helpful.
Best teacher I have had at Auburn. I am a wildlife major and loved his Microecon class. Keeps the class entertaining and funny while clearly stating what he wants you to know for the test. Final was not needed if you had an A and all the tests will have a study guide given that will be pretty much the test. There are trick questions but easy.
Dr. Finck is my favorite professor this semester. He has 5 tests each worth 20% and the final is optional. You can find his tests online, so look for those and they are basically the same as the test you are going to take. He is hilarious in class and lectures are great and seem to fly by. I would take this class again.
Highly recommend
If you have to take microeconomics, TAKE FINCK! Economics is very boring to me, but he made it practical and as interesting as possible. He's very laid back and funny, and willing to help students. Also, follow him on Twitter because you will appreciate his humor that much more.
Finck is a great lecturer and very straightforward as to what is needed for his exams. Pay attention and study, it's an easy A.
Great teacher. Would recommend to anyone
I really like Dr. Finck. He is a great guy who will help you in any way! If I had went to office hours sooner I would have got an A. You have to be very careful with his tests! He puts a lot of evil multiple choice questions on there.
Funny guy. Only 5 exams which are your only grades. Tests are pretty tough. Sometimes they are the same as old tests but with switched questions. Tries to make the class as painless as can be. Saveprint out all the exam answers when posted- you will need them for the final!
Makes economics as painless as he can. He is a really funny guy that understands college students. Go to class and take good notes. Get all of his old tests and study them, but he changes the wording and answer choices, so just be aware of that. Also, go to his office hours if you are struggling, he is a big help! Overall, take this guy!
very good teacher and easy short lectures
Finck's tests were exactly what he taught in class which made it easy to know what to study, but you still have to really study hard to do well. He cares about his students but he sticks to his policies 100% and won't make exceptions. Also he will usually cut class short on Friday so take him MWF
Dr. Finck is actually a frat brother acting as an Econ professor.... THIS GUY IS THE BEE'S KNEES! By far the best all-around professor I've taken so far at Auburn. Uses old tests so his 5 exams are easy but he's not gonna let you breeze thru his class. Tells tons of great jokes and the ladies seem to find him rather attractive ;)
Finck is the best at Microecon. He keeps you engaged and breaks down the concepts into more basic concepts so that you can understand it. No textbook, no homework, tests are the only grades and the final is optional. Go to class and take good notes then study the night before each test and you'll hard pressed to make below an A.
taught very well. He has an exceptional way of explaining the material, as well as making you laugh while he does it. He understands the college student and does his best to connect with them. The material itself can be challenging and confusing but its nothing overwhelming. Thoroughly enjoyed this class!
Mr. Finck is an awesome teacher, obviously. To succeed in the class, I would go to class and actually pay attention, and maybe after each class just read over your notes because if you do that, when it comes to the day before the test, you won't have to teach yourself everything all day and night. It's an easy class if you just absorb the info.
Great Teacher, definitely recommend taking him.
Dr. Finck is a good teacher with power-point lectures, tests basically straight from the notes, and a small problem set. However, the material is just plain hard. Memorize your notes word for word, still expect to work HARD. His office hours were good although he often made me feel stupid for even asking questions and couldn't answer some of them.
BEST TEACHER EVER! Absolutely loved Finck! He's a great teacher who knows his stuff. Really willing to help during office hours and wants you to succeed. He makes class fun, and economics fun which is seriously hard to do. Study old tests to pass. He changes the numbers and wording, but if you know the material and why its that way you're good.
There is no book, easy as easy is. Just show up every time and memorize the 6-10slides he shows, and A+. Btw follow him on Twitter for laughs.. Lol
AMAZING LECTURES. I never took economics before and I loved it.
Finck is the bomb. com and if you ever have a chance to take one of his courses, you need to. His lectures are hilarious and extremely straightforward- what he teaches you and puts in his slideshow is exactly what will show up on the test. You do need to study, though. Definitely follow him on Twitter for extra laughs outside of class. LOVED HIM!
Dr. Finck is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious, and he keeps lectures interesting. Easy A if you show up and take notes.
Very funny. Very clear cut on class and lectures. Very good at teaching Economics.
Not as easy as everyone says he is. You can find old tests and study them, but don't rely on that. Make sure you know the material and why each answer choice is right or wrong.
Dr. Finck's Microeconomics is an overall great class. Make sure you know the material for all the tests word-by-word. The final is optional. No textbook needed.
If you have to take Micro, TAKE FINCK. He was definitely the best professor I had all semester. Attend class, study the material, work the study guides, and it is an easy A. He also has a great sense of humor and makes the lessons very entertaining. I loved going to his class, and I wish he was teaching macro this semester. DON'T BUY BOOK
Finck is awesome. His tests are really easy compared to my high school economics teacher. He has a different theme for every test and he uses movie quotes for multiple choice answers. He is hilarious. It helps a lot to use his test banks to study. Go to class and do your part and you will make an A.
Professor Finck was awesome! Would highly recommend taking his class. Even though the tests can be hard, if you study you will do fine. Going to class is optional but will definitely help for tests if you go. He is a funny guy and always had good stories at the beginning of class. And he usually lets you out early!
FANTASTIC TEACHER. Hilarious. TAKE HIM OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. Go to class, though. He notices. Study his lists, and you'll be fine. could study a few days to a week before tests and be good. absolutely loved him. curved some Optional final!!! Only take final if you want to boost GPA. If you do bad on final, he will pretend it never happened.
Macy is absolutely hilarious. I hate economics, and I loved this class. His tests are full of tricks, but he'll warn you ahead of time of every kind of trick to look out for. He gets what it's like to be a college student (cause he is one at heart), he's fair, and he's super easy to listen to. Don't pull a fast one on him though. He's smart.
I loved this class! The lectures cover exactly what is going to be on the tests and you can find old tests to study from. The lectures are entertaining, and he always throws a little humor in. Follow on Twitter for a laugh!
Old tests and notes are easy to find and pretty much don't change over the years. The lectures are easy to sit through and if you skip a few it won't necessarily hurt your grade. There's never homework and very little time is required to study for tests.
Amazing teacher!! You have to take Finck. He's one of the best professors I've ever had. There's never a dull moment and he doesn't require you to read or go to class, but trust me he's so fantastic, you won't want to skip.
Great guy. Tests aren't bad and he does curve the early tests which is nice. I had him for 2020 and am now in 2030 with Richter. Huge mistake. I should have taken him for both. If you're on the fence don't think twice about this class. I would definitely recommend him and his courses.
Finck is a really great teacher. Like he does a good job at teaching, the material itself was just hard to grasp. He's hilarious. You don't need the book. He makes the lectures and tests interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't go you won't get the material because he doesn't post the slides. If you get Finck, you're lucky!
Fink is a great teacher. I am not very good at Econ and he explained everything clearly. The material itself is hard though if you've never taken Econ before. Be sure to go to lectures and take good notes. It is possible to do well if you try. Don't get the book, its unnecessary. Final Exam is not mandatory.
I have a business minor, and I enjoyed this class. If you have the old tests, you should do fairly well. He makes it interesting, and he's a funny guy. Final is optional if you have the grade you want going into it - it can only help you, not hurt you. Definitely suggest for econ.
Econ was like learning a foreign language to me. I didn't understand anything so you need to study a lot. Just know what's on the study guide he gives you and you'll do okay. Try to get old exams. They'll help. He gives 5 exams and if you do well on those, then you won't have to take the final.
This class was not difficult. It was very straight forward. You don't have to take the final if you don't want to. I am not a business major but I was able to get a really good grade in the class. By far the best micro teacher at Auburn
Macy is one of my favorite professors, he made learning about economics fun and easy. You don't have to go to class but unless you have someone to give you notes you probably won't do well. His tests are pretty straight forward and only 25 questions. He gives you the option to not take the final if you like your grade. I WOULD TAKE AGAIN 1000 times
He is such a good professor. He knows his material well, presents it well, and expects you to reiterate it well on the exams. He is willing to go above and beyond for students and truly does care about your experience and grade in his class. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to take an econ class with Dr. Finck.
Professor Finck is a great professor, even though attendance isn't mandatory you should still go, it really helps. He holds a review class before each exam so do the practice test and questions. He is very easy to understand, hilarious, and class is actually fun. Highly recommend him.
His class is very good. His old tests are out there to help you and he did that for a reason. Word of advice; it may seem like it's easy if you have old tests, but it takes more than that to get an A sadly.
Took this online class during the Summer mini term & I loved it! 4 timed online exams (60 min, 30 Q's, not proctored), daily problem sets through Connect (easy, b/c you can check the answers), & 2 easy discussion posts. The tests were tough but the final was optional & could replace your lowest exam. You can work ahead and finish early too!
If you just go to class and pay attention you'll be fine. He's really funny and enthusiastic and he'll work with you if you have any questions about material or your grade. Would definitely take again. Also, he puts funny quotes on the tests.
he is good
He is a great lecturer. He is hilarious and describes things to where anyone could understand. The key to this class is to just go to class, listen, and take notes. If you miss a class, it is very hard to understand the notes and graphs without having him explain it. His test are tricky, but if you go to class you will definitely pass the test.
He uses the same exams from previous semesters. Never went to class and studied his old exams.
Econ definitely doesn't come easily to me. My first test I made a C and now I am making As and have an A in his class. He gives great feedback and is personable, if you make an effort and go to his office hours. I studied the notes and only went to him for questions of why I missed things on tests. I wish every prof was like him. Must go to class!
He's a funny guy, but he goes really fast in lecture and it's a lot of charts, math, and memorization of lists. I don't study a lot, but I could never get above a B on his test. I even failed test 4 out of the 5. His final is optional depending on if it helps your grade. The tests are the same as old tests.
He cares about the success of his students. His lectures are informative and he only tests you on what he goes over in class. If you study and put the effort into this class, you can get an A. He's rather funny and he keeps his lectures interesting. I would definitely recommend taking his course!
Take this class! Dr. Finck is very sarcastic and funny, so he keeps what many would consider a boring subject pretty interesting. He knows exactly how college students learn and think and shapes his class around that. Dr. Finck has become my favorite professor at Auburn, and is arguably one of the best professors this university has.
You don't have to go to class. He posts his powerpoint online. If you go to class though, you will understand better, but you can pass without attending. He's a great teacher, just pay attention and do your part to study and learn. 10/10 would recommend.
Finck is awesome! You have 5 tests throughout the semester, and at the end if you are happy with your grade, you do not have to take the exam. I was one point shy of an A before the exam, and he bumped my grade so I wouldn't have to take it. Lectures are interesting, and his since of humor is great! Really enjoyed this class.
Best professor ever. Take him. He is funny and clearly goes over what will be on an exam the lecture before. Not too hard
If you have to take economics, try at all costs to get Macy Finck. Not only is he hilarious and actually makes economics kinda fun, but he is actually really helpful and easy to talk to if you have questions. Your only grades are tests and he doesn't post lectures online but he has a very generous full point roundup curve. Just get the notes.
How to get an A: Do the problem sets. Talk to him if there's anything you don't understand. That simple.
Finck is a great option for Econ. He explains things well and is entertaining. If you have the opportunity, take his class.
very funny in class. Took the class because everyone said he was awesome and easy. But when I went to him for help he was so rude and demeaning. It took a lot of effort for me to get a C. I know Im in the minority, but I felt so dumb whenever I tried talking to him.
Finck is awesome. One of the most entertaining and funny professors that I have ever had. Class was also not very hard if you pay attention and take notes in lecture.
Finck's class is easy and fun to go to. Relates lectures to things college kids actually understand. All the old tests are online which make it easier to know what material to focus on. Super funny sarcastic guy. Makes the hard material easy and if you put in the minimal required effort you will get an A. Only studied the night before tests got a A
Great class with a great professor. Go to class, take good notes, and study test banks and you will get a good grade.
Participation isn't required in Finck's class, but it is worth going. He teaches very clearly and is very funny and sarcastic. This was my favorite class freshman year. His old tests can be found online and those are all you need to get an easy A. I definitely recommend him as a professor.
The only grades in the class are from his tests but the final exam is optional and if you study the old tests, you'll do perfect every time. He's funny, a good professor, and makes everything easy to understand.
One helluva guy. Very funny, makes class WORTH going to. All grades are based on five tests (final included), but he's very generous on grading: The final is optional, and if you're at an 89%, he'll round you up to an A at the end, and you can also skip a unit test and have its grade weight added to the final (only up to two tests, I believe).
He's a good prof and actually explains the material. You need to go to class to get the notes because he doesnt post them online or use the book. His tests are fairly challenging because he has some trick questions but if you study old tests you should be ok.
my favorite professor at auburn. hilarious and makes lectures enjoyable and interesting. if you are in honors, CONTRACT THIS CLASS; the tests are different (some short answer/drawing graphs) but not much harder and he gets to know you personally. study the old tests, book not necessary. 10/10 would recommend!!!! also his twitter is hilarious
He doesn't care if you show up, but he doesn't put the notes online anymore. Tests are difficult but reasonable. I hate the subject, but he's a good guy, and you can tell he's trying to make sure you learn and enjoy the class as much as possible.
Macy Fink is the best, coolest teacher I have had at Auburn. Loved going to his class. He is a very funny guy and very easy going. If you study and take test seriously you should get an A. Would defiantly take him again!
I don't remember a single thing from this class already but I do remember what an awesome professor Finck was and that all the tests are online somewhere. You don't have to be good or knowledgable about econ to get an A and he gives you an optional final which is incredible. Great guy, easy class
Dr. Finck is so funny and he really knows a lot about Econ. He knows that most people in the room aren't Econ majors, so he takes that into consideration with his lectures and tests. If you go to class & pay attention, you should do fine on his tests. The final is optional, & even if you take it & it hurts your grade, it doesn't count. Great class.
Finck is the absolute best professor you can get for micro. You have to go to class in order to get the notes from the power point but he gives a study guide for each test and holds review sessions in class. Tests come straight from the notes and the final is optional. Easy A!
Finck is by far one of my favorite teachers I've had the pleasure of taking. He is funny and genuinely wants everyone to get an A. His tests come straight from notes and it helps a lot to study his old tests. Optional final also. Definitely recommend.
He is a fantastic teacher and he really wants his students to succeed. You definitely need to go to class and take notes and do practice problems for his tests. If you are confused by anything, definitely go to his office hours for help.
He's so chill and attendance isn't required, but I would go anyway because his tests are difficult if you don't understand what's going on. He almost always lets you out of class early and he has themed tests.
Dr. Finck is an awesome professor. He is hilarious in class, and definitely kept me engaged during lectures. He is tough as far as what he expects for his tests, but his material comes straight off his notes and his review problems. He is very straight forward about what he expects. Probably the best economics teacher at Auburn!
Great teacher with interesting lectures. Be prepared to study notes, but if you know the material tests won't be difficult.
Dr. Finck is a great Econ professor. No attendance policy, textbook not needed. Usually cancels class on days before breaks. You should still attend class and study notes if you want to get an A, but it is doable if you are motivated. His old tests are online, and studying those make tests much more manageable.
Loved his class and would definitely recommend him. His lectures are hilarious and he always brings in personal stories making it easy to understand. Theres 5 tests that he gives great study guides for, and the final is optional and cant hurt your grade. If you do poorly on it, he doesnt count it. I would take it again if I could!
Love this guy! his lectures are hilarious and his exams aren't that hard either. even if you don't show up to class other than on exam days you can pass! notes come straight from the powerpoint which get leaked every semester along with plenty of test banks (study those and you'll do great!)
Finck is Awesome!! You must attend class to get the notes because he does not post them!! There are 5 Tests and an optional final! I recommend studying the notes, problem sets, and past tests to prepare! He is hilarious and made the class interesting! If you do not understand something, go to his office hours!! Super helpful and approachable!
Not much to say that hasn't already been said.
This class was an easy A if you attend the lectures. Although he never once took attendance I highly recommend you go to every class or else you will miss out on the notes. Tests are straight from the notes and looking at past tests is key! He was a great guy who really tried his best to make economics interesting. Highly recommend taking him!
Finck was easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Everything on the test comes from his lecture slides and previous tests. He's not only extremely straight forward, but he also makes ECON enjoyable. Highly recommend
Great lecturer. Teaches the material well so that the tests are not hard b/c you will know it well from lectures. Go to class, take good notes, do the test reviews before you go to class (not during), and work through his old tests if you can find them. Gives real life examples that make the material easier to relate to. FINK or BUST for econ.
If you are planning on taking an economics class, take Dr. Finck. Class consists of just lectures. Five tests and an optional final. He does a great job of taking a boring class making it fun and easy to pay attention to. He has been teaching the same class a long time and knows the material extremely well.
There's no other grades outside of tests, so you can't screw one up. He does give an optional cumulative final to raise your grade, and he's nice about bumping your grade up at the end of the semester. You never have to go to class as long as you get his lectures, but he was rude in office hours.
Definitely knows his stuff and his class consists of only lectures. Attendance not mandatory but I would say that those who go have a better chance of doing well. His final is cumulative but it is also optional, which was the best part - if you have an a grade you're okay with then don't take it. He made the class interesting and he is pretty funny
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. hilarious guy and class is not hard. going to class helps a lot but isnt mandatory. You have tests every 2 or so weeks and the final is optional. he loves econ and makes lecture as interesting as possible. take him 100%. also, follow his twitter. gold.
This course is very test heavy. But if you just take the time to come to lectures and thoroughly study the material you will do well in the class. I received a C for my first exam but once I studied more and attended office hours I was able to work up to an A.
EASIEST TEACHER EVER! I don't even go to class and I have a high A. He also has a great sense of humor which is great. If you can't get him then just wait to take him another semester tbh. Such an easy class. Great teacher for those who don't understand Econ very well.
Bad ass... But really a great teacher and if you are going to take Econ you should take Finck. Test comes straight from the powerpoint and if you study you will do well. I would recommend going to his class but it is one you could skip if you got the notes.
Seriously the best teacher I've had at Auburn. You learn everything you need to be successful in his class on Day 1. There are 5 tests and an optional final (which I would highly recommend taking if you find yourself close at the end of the semester). Look at his test banks and go to class but it is optional.
Do NOT take this teacher. He is hilarious, but he makes jokes about how he knows that most people will fail his class. He does his best to make tests as hard as he can so that people can't do well. I studied for hours for every exam and still had to drop it because I had a F.
If you go to class and do his practice tests you'll get an easy A.
Great Prof., only one that does Sports Econ. A really relatable guy who makes you laugh and takes boring Econ concepts and makes them enjoyable to learn. Grades on two or three tests (depending on the class) and a final, which is optional based on your grade from other tests. Doesn't upload lectures, but makes notes easy to take. ECON 2020, too.
either go to class or get notes from someone. easy A
Great teacher to take if you are interested in economics. He taught some great lectures and made economics extremely interesting. Tests were not too hard but you need to have all the notes and know them well to do well on it. Overall a great professor that will leave you with more than just a grade once you leave.
I took Fink for microeconomics thinking it would be a brease, but it wasnt. He does not help when you go to his office. He just recommends paying a tutor when you have more than one question. I took my W and retook it with someone that had time. He always makes jokes about people failing his class which is fine, but why not try to understand why.
Overall, I liked his class. He doesn't post any of his slides online, so make sure you have those accessible as we didn't use a textbook either so all the tests were based off the slides. The final was optional, and he never took attendance. He was a funny professor, but sometimes it seemed like he was trying too hard to be relatable.
Finck is absolutely hilarious and makes economics fun. He loves the subject and cares about the people in his class. He lets you pick "themes" for the five in-class exams, like The Office, Mean Girls, etc. He does get frustrated when he sees people attempting to cheat, which is understandable, and it's a little scary hahaha. He's a great professor.
This professor is a guy despite the name, and is really an awesome economics teacher. His lectures are really good and easy to understand. For tests definitely study old tests if you can in addition to his review. Really funny and makes econ in the am bearable. Tests are multiple choice and he curves your final grade by 1 point
Professor Finck is a very funny and all around cool guy, however, I do not recommend taking him. There are five tests throughout the semester and they are not easy. The tests are very confusing to say the least. I walked out several times feeling like I did amazing, but actually made a C. I also studied a lot.
5 tests and a cumulative final that can only help your grade. Lectures are interesting and funny, but be sure to get the notes from someone if you don't make it to class- tests completely based on lecture notes. Take good notes and study them for a few hours the night before test to get an A. Take this class honors by contract if in honors college!
He is very funny and can make the lectures more enjoyable with his odd sense of humor. Tests are difficult, but he gives a good breakdown before each one. Find old tests to use to study and practice. He gives clear possible questions and answers for final. It wasn't my easiest class, but enjoyed it and pulled my grade from a C to a B with the final
Fink is a phenomenal teacher. Show up even though its a lot of lectures and take notes. If you have one of his test banks you are golden, but you can't just memorize the answers you have to study with your notes and the banks. He is entertaining at times and you will leave class understanding the material as long as you pay attention.
Super chill and funny guy who loves econ. You only have 5 tests but there's a test bank so all you have to do is find that and you'll easily pass.
Finck is a stand up guy, hilarious, and makes econ fun and interesting. The topics can be hard but he is very accessible and explains his lectures well. He doesn't use a textbook, so his lectures are it (so go). Study and pay attention easy A, optional cumulative final and 5 mandatory exams
Funny, good teacher, decent office hours but will make you work for the grade
Finck is a hilarious and great teacher. He really cares about students, but is also fun. His class only had grades of 5 tests and they were only 25 questions so missing 3 questions drops you to a B already. I underestimated the first test so as long as you study and know the info, you should have a B. He's a good teacher, but it's also a tough.
Great class, though I found it harder than micro. Only grade is 4 tests plus an optional final. Show up to class (notes not on canvas), stay up with the material, and you'll be fine. The final is easy and can only help your grade. Don't get the book.
Super funny great professor. Test are hard and have to study a good bit for them but if you are in class and listen it will make it easier.
Absolutely hilarious and great guy. If you put in the effort, the class is not too difficult. He is always available in office hours to answer questions. Tests can be pretty difficult, but if you are studying you should do fine.
Professor Finck really knows economics. He connects topics across chapters easily and is pretty engaging during his lectures. Also, he answers questions very well and talks a lot about why things happen in economics to help you understand, not memorize. However, his tests can be very difficult. To get an A, studying is almost mandatory.
Dr. Finck is great. If you go to class and take notes you should be fine.
Easy A and attendance was not mandatory. He would also let us attend any of his class times regardless of the time we registered for, except for on test days.
Professor Finck is a very good lecturer. He explains everything thoroughly with examples and he weaves in funny stories and jokes to keep you interested. Exams can be difficult for he is known for writing "evil" multiple-choice questions, but if you study a good bit you should be alright. Definitely recommend.
Graded by 5 tests and an optional final (!) that cant hurt you. Well-taught course. Study the slides and maybe an old test or two and youll be set. Brief overall description: Moderately Twitter famous gem of an economics professor. Dont do anything stupid, though. Hell tweet about it and youll deserve the anonymous shame it yields.
Dr. Finck is a fantastic lecturer who clearly loves teaching economics. His lectures are based on powerpoints that are color-coated and well organized. He is really good at explaining each topic with detailed examples and has clearly taught the material for a long time. Studying past tests is the key to an A in the class.
Professor Finck is a hilarious teacher who truly wants his students to succeed. His class is lecture heavy and the only grades are exams. He gives you an optional final which is great and his lectures are very helpful! Great teacher would definitely take again!!
Dr. Finck is a great instructor. He is very clear on what he wants out of his students in his class. This class is test heavy so make sure to study all of his notes. Overall, a wonderful person.
Attendance isn't required, but go!!! Find his previous tests and go over them and you'll be fine.
If you have to take Micro, TAKE FINCK! He is amazing and makes lectures fun. While it is not mandatory to come to class, he does not give out the notes so GO. He cares about his students and wants them to do well, so even though there is only 5 tests, he is willing to work with students, especially if they take the optional final.
5 exams in this class not including the final. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go you will be so far behind. Very good teacher and super helpful. I went to office hours a lot and that really helped. He's funny but freaks out when he finds people cheating on exams and will give you a 0 if you do.
Great professor and really works hard to teach his material. The class is not to hard and most of the old test are online and with a little bit of effort, an A is defiantly achievable.
He is a great professor for microeconomics!!!!! Although attendance isnt required- definitely go to his lectures!! He makes it interesting while being super funny!! There are 5 exams, but he prepares you very well for them. 100% recommend!!!!!!!!
Great Professor, don't be like me an get a B because you thought the final wouldn't be that bad. Your Auburn Alumni C.H.
BEST ECON TEACHER! I learned so much and had fun at the same time. Finck is great at explaining and using real world examples to help us learn. He doesn't post notes, so make sure to show up and take good notes. If you have good notes and study a little, you're set for the tests. 5 tests are your only grade in the class, with an optional final
Only grades are test grades. The tests are pretty hard and the questions are confusing. You have to memorize so many notes to get an A. He is really nice and funny tho!
Everyone is right about him-he's great. Did the mini-semester with just guided powerpoints. Sounds awful right? Nope, he makes it interesting even as a powerpoint. Very fair. Quick responses.
Worst professor I've ever had. The lectures, homework, and study guides don't get you close to being prepared for the exam. For some reason UAH switched my professor to Finck last minute and I regret not dropping his class. Get ready to have breakdowns over your test grades! He refuses to scale anything!
Dr. Finck. Where do I begin. Overall a pretty easy going guy with a good heart and awesome dad jokes. Econ2020 online was a whole new world... his test are HARD. Ive struggled to keep a C all semester.
I loved taking Finck's class online. The lectures are enjoyable and the tests are super heavy. Although your grade is primarily tests, the MyEconLab questions he makes you do help a lot. Overall, would recommend taking this class.
I like Dr. Finck but I had to take him during COVID-19, and that was pretty difficult doing his class online. I can tell he cared and wanted us to pass but this class was not enjoyable online. Try to take this in person, if you can!
BEST ECON prof!! Love the lecture. HW gives a free 30% of final grade: unlimited choice & no due date. 4 exams, count 70% final grade. OPTIONAL FINAL EXAM! Final is open book and only replace the lowest test, but count nothing! Office hour is always available, always keep in touch with students even during online mode. will definitely take again!
Mr. Finck is a very well organized and paced online teacher. He is very charismatic and has a sense of humor when teaching. Furthermore, he tells in each lecture what will and won't be in the test, making tests easy to take as you know what will be on it (if you pay attention!). Overall, I wish I could have more online teachers like him!
Absolutely hilarious man. Took him for principles and intermediate micro. Tests are pretty difficult, but as long as you study through all of the notes, you should be fine. You really need to have a good grasp of what is going on to get an A, but should be at least a C if you are honest with yourself in studying.
The lectures are entertaining but very confusing. This has to be some of the tough tests I have ever taken in my life especial for a 100 level course. Best advice is to learn ahead and seek tutoring for help because you wont survive on lectures and notes alone.
literally the worst. such a jerk. does not care about his students at all.
Unhelpful, sassy, rude, dismissive, DO NOT take his online classes . No curves or leniency on grades. Tests do not correspond to homework.
Professor Finck is a nice guy but his lectures are long and filled with info. A lot of that info wasn't even used on tests and problem sets. He was somewhat helpful throughout the semester but got upset when students didn't go to office hours. Pushed all due dates back which honestly was horrible. Tough class and an OK professor. Don't do online!!
His online lectures are pretty good and he seems sympathetic sometimes. However, he doesn't offer extra credit and your grade will basically only include homework problems and the exams. His communication was awful and he is not very cooperating and helpful when you ask him for advices. Also, we didn't have an exam with an average above 68%.
Took this guy this semester. Our HIGHEST exam average was 69% ! He is very impolite and not helpful at all when you ask him for help. No extra credit provided and your grade consists of the exams and some homework problems only. I will never take this guy again!
I took Dr. Finck's course in Fall 2020 that he guest taught at UAHuntsville. Overall, the quality of his lectures were okay. There are times in which I feel he got a bit preachy. His exams were tough but he compensated with a curve. My only complaint is that he was a bit rude over email when I reached out with a question regarding an exam.
Mr. Finck is hilarious. His emails will make you laugh but his tests will make you cry. Very tough tests and with class being online and NO ZOOMS, it's hard to learn. Take advantage of office hours and do the MyEconLab assignments!!
Dr. Finck is a great guy loved him. He was very funny & helpful however, econ is not an easy class. Hw is unlimited attempts so do all of them, tests have tons of graphs and charts so understand that. Know all listed info for tests and really pay attention to what's asked it can be tricky. The class is hard if you don't study and listen in lectures
Professor Finck taught at UAH for the 2020 Fall semester. His tests were difficult the average always sat between 68-70 on our exams. He is sassy in some of his lectures and emails as well. He was helpful if I reached out however.
Fincks a good lecturer and funny but can really come off as in ass many times. Was very excited to finally get to take a course of his and was overall disappointed. As an econ major typically making As in all courses Ive struggled to even maintain a B in an easy course. He prides himself in low exam grades
Finck is a good guy and very funny. He pushed all of the deadlines back which killed me as a procrastinator. You could retake all the HW until you got a 100, so basically was EC if you stayed on top of it. Very hard tests through- he really made you learn the material. Definitely recommend, I will be taking his sports econ class next semester!
Honestly, Econ just doesn't make sense to me which is why my grade was low, but Professor Finck is phenomenal. He tries to keep his lectures as upbeat and interesting as Econ can be, and he's just an all-around awesome guy. When I had him my entire grade was based on 4 tests and an optional final, but if you want to you can do well.
I really loved Dr. Finck's lectures, but the tests itself were too tricky. I think what the problem is is that the material is so densely packed with various concepts, formulas, and lists that it is very hard to keep track of what to study. His tests also have multiple choice that are designed to trick you. Great Professor, but beware of the tests.
Didn't pass one test. Study guide was no help expect for matching and definitions. Don't take this class
Dr. Finck is a super cool guy and he really makes class fun. The class itself is full of very interesting concepts but as long as you have a baseline knowledge of econ, it isn't hard to get a good grade.
I am walking away from this course very disappointed. This man loves his lists and loves to make tricky mutliple choice questions that do not really have much to do with Economics. I would not recommend this class if you are trying to get an easy A Econ elective. Not the move. Take something else.
You literally just have to be kind of smart and put in decent effort to get an A. Every person who comes on here and complains just doesn't work hard typically. Just study and you will get an A. Very nice guy and gives you everything you need to know.
Attendance wasn't mandatory and all lectures were available online. I personally had to work pretty hard and ended up re-watching the lectures a few times. The only tests were tricky and really require you to have an understanding of the material in order to succeed.
He can teach economics to an engineering student like me... AND he can make it fun. SUPER generous curves on tests and interesting lectures. I'm learning a ton and I haven't even mentioned the best part... his final was optional this semester! All it does is replace the lowest test grades. Put in a little effort and your test grades will fly.
Mr Finck is the best professor I have had so far at Auburn. Our only grades in this class are 4 tests and an option cumulative final exam to replace our lowest test grade. As long as you at least read the lecture slides & take decent notes & complete the exam reviews, the tests are so easy. He is also a very fun guy and I don't get bored in class!
Economics can be a difficult subject but Finck does a great job making the lectures easy to follow and entertaining. I enjoyed going to class & listening to how he broke down different subjects. The class itself can get pretty difficult at times, and while he does a good job explaining them, the amount of detail can get overwhelming for paper tests
His lectures are great. He explains the topics very well and gives thorough walkthroughs of the graphs and sample questions. He is clear about what will or won't be on the tests. The only drawback was how he set up his tests. You don't get partial credit for questions and can't go back to previous questions. Otherwise, I would've got an A.
Although his attitude and personality weren't my favorite, there's no doubt he knows economics. He does try to help you out by curving exams. You're graded by 4 exams only. Attendance isn't mandatory but I can guarantee you won't pass if you don't go to class. Buying the textbook/myEconLab isn't required but is very helpful when studying!
His personality is okay. He's kinda rude sometimes. His class was very difficult for me.. a good amount of math is included. I wouldn't take his class again but have definitely had worse ones.
Finck is great. I went to his office a few times outside of office hours to ask questions and also just talk to him and he welcomed it. The tests are exactly from the powerpoints and if you go to class and make sure you fully understand the powerpoints then you won't have an issue making an A. Not hard to grasp, just slightly time-consuming. Take!
wasnt a hard class, the tests are based all off of the powerpoints so going to class helps a lot to hear the lecture but attendance isnt mandatory, youre graded off of 4 tests and the final is optional
Easy class professor wasn't heavy handed with assignments and test where very similar to the quizzes
Dr. Finck is a funny Guy. A little difficult to reach by email. But pretty much everything is based off the slides. Pretty easy class overall. He will replace your lowest grade with the final. And the final is optional.
Your grade is made up of 4 multiple choice tests and that is it. For my class it was on canvas, but because of cheating he is moving them back in person next semester. Because your grade is only tests this class is not stressful but the tests are HARD because there is no where to apply the lectures except on the study guide.
His tests, without the use of notes, would be very difficult; however, his tests are online (nonproctored) and he wouldn't know if you had your notes while taking the tests. He only gives lectures and you have to figure everything else out from there. Still difficult with the use of notes and lots of studying. Students either love him or hate him.
His tests are really hard if you don't know micro. To do well on his 4 tests you need to be able to pick up lots of information fast. There is an optional final but it doesn't really help that much. Class attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go you will get behind.
Dr. Finck is hands down one of my favorite professors I have had at Auburn so far. There are only 4 grades for the entire semester, which are all tests. The final is not mandatory but if you do decide to take it, it will replace your lowest test grade. Though attendance is not mandatory, it is extremely important to attend to understand material.
This class is very boring, it should be fun but all he does is read off of the powerpoint. He also makes his test overly complicated and their on canvas so you get no partial credit and no leeway.
He gives clear lectures on micro but get ready to attend every class or else you will fall behind so easily. you are grades on 4 exams. the final is optional and will replace your lowest exam grade. he gives clear ppts but you need to come to class to understand each graph or you will suffer. the exams are not hard if you really KNOW the material.
Your grade is dependent on 4 exams (5 total but you drop your lowest). That's it. His lectures are fast paced, and honestly he is a great and funny guy but not the best teacher. Tests were online for us but are MC, Open Ended, and "Select all that apply", making them difficult. Attendance is not required but you better show up and pay attention.
Finck is a great professor. His lectures are very easy to follow and he clearly explains all material. He is not monotone and lets class out early a good amount of the time. He also does not make you buy the book, and he posts notes in case you sleep through a class or two. If you go to class and study your notes you'll be fine. Take him.
Honestly, I had in between a B/C the whole semester, and that's my fault. i didn't go to every class so I'm sure if I did I would have done better, so pay attention. The whole class is literally only the tests, my mistake was doing eh on 2 of them and instantly I was struggling the whole semester to try and get a B
This class consists of 4 tests and a final. He takes your best 4 grades out of the 5. The tests are so so hard though. Hes a good lecturer but the tests are impossible they are the only grades you get. I am a straight A student but I have a C in this class.
he makes non-interesting info entertaining. he grades strictly based on the 4 term exams and the final that replaces the lowest test score. his tests are unproctored online but he makes them to where it would be very difficult to cheat. the test information comes directly from his lectures and he posts the slides incase you can't make it to class.
Finck is by far one of the best Econ teachers I've ever had. Extremely clear lectures and gives you access to his slides. All of our tests were online but still hard tests, definitely have to study to pass this class. You will have to put some effort in the class but it pays off.
His PPT topic is very clearly.
Finck was a great lecturer. All of his lectures were clear and made a boring subject not so boring. Only grades were exams but the final was optional and replaced the lowest test. Test was online but still very difficult
He's pretty funny in lectures but his tests are insanely difficult. If the class average is above normal for a test he becomes greatly paranoid of cheating.
I thought it was a little difficult but not too terrible. His lectures go by pretty fast and end early most of the time so it is not super boring. You need to go to all the lectures or you will fall behind. I went to a tutor a few times and that helped a lot.
Everyone who said Professor Finck was easy took him and cheated. All my friends had him last year and this was the case. I decided to take him and the class is insanely difficult and it is impossible to cheat even if I wanted to. Honestly wouldn't recommend because if the average is decent he accuses the class of cheating.
The class is very hard. he makes 5 tests for the final grade not have a homework grade. And he made the questions hard on the test. awful
Awful professor. I would not recommend taking this class if you have accommodations because he is not very accommodating of them. The only grades are exams and the material on the exams is completely different from lecture.
Dr. Finck is the absolute best! The class is difficult and you are only graded off of four exams, but if you attend the lectures, take notes and prepare for the exams you should do fine. He also has an optional final you take to replace your lowest exam grade at the end of the semester. He is also a great follow on Auburn twitter and is very funny!
I love this man. He post all the powerpoints and review guides from Day 1. He is clear about what exams will be. Tests are online so basically open note.
Finck is amazing! He makes a boring subject interesting and explains the material very well. There is no homework and your grade is determined by 4 tests. The material is difficult but if you attend class regularly you will be fine.
Finck is the man. The only grades are four tests and an optional final if you bomb an exam. All his tests are online and you have the whole day to take them. If you GO TO CLASS and take decent notes, youll have no problem making an a. He always makes the room laugh during his lectures and is a great follow on twitter. Definitely take him for econ
He's amazing. 100% would recommend. He's really funny and an all around great guy. He posts all materials on canvas, so you don't have to go if you don't want to. Only grades in class are the 4 tests, but the final is optional and will replace lowest test grade.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't go to class, good luck. His exams come straight from the notes. Great professor, really funny. All of his exams were online and unproctored, but he'll put them back in person if he suspects cheating. I would totally recommend him for any economics class.
Dr. Finck is an outstanding professor for micro or macro. His lectures are interesting, do not waste your time, and prepare you well for the test. There is no homework, only four tests. The final is optional and bonus. The tests are difficult, but if you attend class, take good notes, and study it is not hard to do well.
Super knowledgable and funny guy. I enjoyed his lectures and him but wouldn't take him again. Four tests decide your grade and they are all SUPER hard. I went to every single lecture and studied constantly and barely scraped a B. If you take him, GO TO CLASS. Micro is harder than macro, you can't miss a lecture in my opinion.
Class is super chill. There are only 4 grades all semester, so you need to be prepared for tests. Tests are online and due at 11:59 pm. Final is optional but can replace your lowest grade. He explains hard concepts in simple terms. He posts all the PowerPoints and review answers, so you can study whenever. He's a great teacher and funny guy 10/10
I absolutely loved Dr. Finck! Micro was a challenging class, but he explained difficult concepts in a way that made them easier to understand while injecting humor into lectures. Grades are determined by 4 online exams, with an optional final to replace your lowest. Definitely would recommend him and would gladly take him again in a heartbeat.
Finck is an amazing lecturer but tests are crazy hard. Attendance isn't taken, but DO NOT MISS A CLASS. 4 tests make up your grade, 25% each. Optional final that replaces your lowest test grade. Posts PPTs and is accessible and willing to go over your notes and answer questions. Great professor but a super difficult class.
I really enjoyed Macy Finck as my professor this semester. His tests are very hard, but if you show up to class, pay attention, and take good notes then you will be fine. There is no homework, and you are solely graded by 4 tests, so it is very important that you take good notes and study them before the tests. I would definitely take him again!
Prof. Finck helped me obtain my first college or high school D (this is my junior year).I've never struggled with one class so badly in my life. He liked to talk about how many people dropped his class. I showed up to all lectures and just could not get a break. If you care about your grades don't take this guy. I could not suggest him to anyone.
Dr. Finck is awesome. I never missed a class, took notes, studied them as well as the power points, and got an A. The tests are hard but if you are willing to put in several hours of studying- and not just cramming the night before - you will do great. If you miss a lot of classes, don't pay attention, and barely study, you will not do well.
Full honesty, it was an 8AM class so I didn't show up a lot and I earned the grade I got. That being said, when I went to class, Mack Finck was one of the most hilarious and coolest teachers I've seen at Auburn. He knows what he's talking about and is always willing to help, and curves exam grades when they're bad. Difficult topic, great prof!
Great Lecturer super funny and knows what he is talking about. Attendance is not taken and as long as you go every once in a while you'll be fine. That being said, the tests are decently hard, so go to class for the review and read over the slides. Tests are online and not proctored and you only have 60 minutes. Oh also, he's a twitter warrior.
his class is very difficult, just teat score and the test is very difficult. his ppt is very confuse.
Your grade in this class is made up of 4 tests, and an optional final exam that replaces your lowest test grade if taken. Study up, come to class, and take good notes.
Dr. Finck is a great guy. Knowledgeable, respectable, and hilarious. Grade is based on 4 tests (which are difficult) and an optional final that replaces your lowest test score. Tests are online and you can do them at home. Take good notes and study hard because tests are 100% of your grade.
Your grade relies on only 4 tests and they are not easy, but as long as you go to lectures and pay attention, and do the study guide he gives out for the tests, you'll pass. He lets you out of class early on most days and gives you extra days for vacation, like taking the friday off before thanksgiving break.
If you are not an econ major or minor and think this will be an easy elective think again. This class is all based on tests that he makes hard on purpose to feed his ego which for someone 5"5 needs a reality check. Biggest ego on campus squished into such a small package. Tests are hard lectures r alright take something else.
Dr Finck is overall a great professor. He is entertaining and is very clear during his lectures. Attendance is not mandatory and the powerpoints are uploaded on Canvas, but I find them confusing without lectures. Tests will be online outside of class unless averages are too high and he suspects cheating.
Great lecturer, makes material that could otherwise be considered boring entertaining. Entire class grade is based off of four tests that are taken online, outside of class. My advice would be to not rely on his study guides for tests as they are nothing like the tests.
Loved Dr. Finck! He has 4 exams and a final. You don't really need to go to class, but to understand the material I recommend going to class. All exams are unproctored and online, unless he thinks you're class is cheating then he will move to in-class exams. He drops your lowest test score at the end of the semester, which is very nice.
Professor Finck is great. I had never done anything economics related before and managed to pull out a low B in this class. He lectures for the entire class but attendance isn't mandatory and the material is easy to teach yourself. He responds quickly, but your grade is made up of 4 tests. The final is optional but not worth it. Id take him again.
He was an amazing professor. However, if you don't ask questions when you don't understand, you will not pass. The class sometimes moves lightning-fast. However, he is willing to sit down and teach you in his office hours at your speed. Talk to him before or after class if you cannot go to office hours.
Is he funny? Yes. Is he well versed in microeconomics? Also yes. But he grades on only four tests all semester, so if you're confused, you're kind of screwed. I don't really agree with how he does this, I feel it sets you up for failure.
I do not possess a business mind, nor do I have prior experience with economic classes. Therefore, the concepts have not been easy to understand, especially at the speed in which the class goes. He is a great lecturer, but the lack of grades is not ideal whatsoever.
He is the worst teacher I've ever had, the questions on the tests do not follow the simple, lazily thrown together study guide at all and he moves too fast in his lectures. Is not accessible at all as his office hours are at 8 in the morning. He does not care about his students and does little to prepare them. WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD.
He is the goat
This class is not mandatory and the tests are on canvas online, but they are near impossible. I attended every class and took great notes but made horrible grades on the at home tests. Your grade only consists of tests which also makes it difficult to get a good grade in the class.
Really mess with this guy. Would love to get a drink with him, pick his brain.
Easy B if you don't study/ attend lectures. However you will need to study and attend lectures if you want an A in the class. He changes up the test questions every year or so. He drops the lowest test grade if you take final exam and there is only 4 exams in the class.
Professor was great, material was difficult.
I wouldn't take him class was really hard
Prof. Finck is an amazing professor, his lectures are clear and make challenging material relatable. The toughest part of his class is that your entire grade is 4 exams. You have to be motivated to study on your own to do well, my best advice is to go to class, make a quizlet, and make use of peer tutoring. Also, study throughout the unit.
Only 4 tests all year, final replaces lowest test but it is over everything. Attendance is optional, and test are remote and not on a lockdown browser. If he thinks your class is cheating, he will bring test back into the class room and on paper. Tests are hard.
The nicest teacher at UAH, no homework only test. Super easy and understanding
His lectures are fairly easy to understand, but you only take 4 tests and a final in the class. So there's no homework to check your understanding before the test or to help cushion your grade, which, while doable, is tedious. As long as you ask for help when you need it and study, you'll be just fine.
Finck is my dog. I loved his class and his lectures were great and really explained things well as long as you paid attention and actually went to class. Class is only graded on 4 tests, and I never found them too difficult. Even though they're online, you really do need to study and have a good understanding of the concepts. 10/10 recommend
He's hilarious and he cares about you. Tests are hard so make to study hard for all of them. Go to office hours, and study mad hard for those tests. I recommend doing the review over and over for the math and then just writing down everything on the slides. Finck will also give you a study method, I didnt really like it but some people might.
*insert chili pepper emoji
Can be hard at times, but if you study and put in the effort you'll be fine. Lectures are incredibly engaging and worth your time, he's got a great personality. Your grade is split between four exams, but the final is optional and can only help you, I'd highly recommend taking it.
Finck is the best professor I have ever had. He is hilarious, entertaining, and relatable. The only grades are test grades but all the tests are online and take home. Your lowest test grade is dropped and the final is optional. He is very flexible with raising your grade at the end of the semester if he sees that you put in the effort.
Finck is funny and seems to care about his students, but I felt like he spat information out at 100 miles an hour and we were expected to just get it. His only grades come from tests and he offers no extra credit. The only plus side is that exams are all at home. I am usually an A+ student and I finished his class with a 75, even with tutoring.
I took him last semester and I was completely lost, the fact that attendance isnt mandatory combined with your only grades being tests really hurt me because I am not a good test taker. Not easy to study for at all and the study guides he provides are basically useless. DO NOT TAKE.
Finck was awesome, cancelled class every now and then and attendance isn't mandatory at all. Tests aren't proctored but if you take advantage of it, he will take it away. Just 4 tests and a final make your grade, no homework and no work due in lectures, he just talks the whole time.
Finck is a nice guy and he tries to make content simple, but his test questions are confusing. They are online but you can't go back to a question after you answered it. I barely pulled off a B in the class. Overall I'd recommend him but be aware of his exam structure. Grades are based on 4 exams and an optional final to replace your lowest score.
If Macy Finck doesn't show up to my funeral, I'll have no choice but to come back. My life isn't complete.
This class would be easy if it wasn't for his test style, you have 1 hour to answer 35 questions and once you answer something you can't go back to check it. Hes a cool guy and I found his lectures very interesting, but I really hope he reforms his tests in the future bcuz they're really unfair against people who aren't cheating (tests are online).
Although this is a tough course, Finck taught in a way that made it so interesting, and even got me interested in economics. He truly cares for his students, and I have never once been bored in his class. The tests are hard, but he provides resources that will help you whether its office hours, or your lowest test grade being dropped if take final.
Super understanding and cool! Tests are online, but that doesn't mean they're easy. He makes the content pretty easy to understand and is always open to questions. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's in your best interest to go as I don't think I would have passed the tests if I hadn't. Final is optional as long as you're satisfied with your grade
Super nice and funny guy! I struggled in the beginning because he lectures fast with great knowledge of econ. I had no prior knowledge, so I had to get a tutor or else I would have failed. The only grades are 4 exams and an optional final, the lowest exam grade gets dropped at the end. Ended up being decently easy to pass, as I got a B.
Dudes a legend
Macy Finck makes this class engaging and worth the time. Tests are challenging but manageable with diligent study. unstuckstudy ai was a great study aid alongside the free course materials. Recommended for a rewarding learning experience.
Good guy, not a good professor. Finck is UTTTERLY paranoid of cheating on his exams. Only does lectures and 5 exams. The exams are hard, exacerbated by skimpy lecture material. Moves fast and is unwelcoming in office hours, acts like he's doesn't want you there. If you want to feel secure that you can pass your econ class, don't take this one.
Lectures are interesting, he is a very funny guy. You are only graded on 4 exams, but the lowest score is dropped, and the final is not required.
Best Teacher ever. I loved Finck so much and he really makes ECON enjoyable. So funny and just a good guy all around. Tests are take home but don't cheat and betray his trust. Class is not mandatory but i found it better to just go and take the notes rather than never going. TAKE HIM!!!
Very nice and caring professor, super chill down to earth type of guy. He has that southern charm to him and he for sure wants people to succeed. His tests are hard and have a learning curve to them. You cant go back and once an answer is submitted its locked in. Online tests, but don't abuse that privilege. He's welcoming in office hours too.
Great person, super hilarious, every student loves him whether they've taken his class or not. However, don't be fooled, this class is very difficult to get an A in. The only grades are 4 exams and an optional final. All exams are at home online, but they're very difficult, timed, and you cannot go back to review your answers.
Finck is a great lecturer and his class is easy to follow and take notes in. You need to go to the lectures and put in the work in order to prepare for the tests. There are four throughout the semester with the option to take the final exam to replace one test grade. Exams are online, timed, and fairly concept heavy and difficult.
Finck is so awesome. He is funny, engaging, and his lectures are not boring. I won't lie, this class is hard to get an A in. Your grade is only made up of 4 tests, and they are pretty difficult. If you go to class, take notes and put in the effort to study, you should get Bs and As. All tests are online. Overall Finck is great though I love him
He is actually hilarious. His tests are tough though even though they are at home. Go to class and take good notes and you will be just fine! There is also no homework so your grade depends on the four tests and the optional final.
Mr. Finck is a great teacher but you have to apply yourself and show up to class. The course is 4 tests with an optional final that replaces lowest test grade. Would take this course and Finck!
I knew almost nothing about econ coming into this course, but Finck teaches it in a way that feels very accessible and simple. He uses examples from life that we all experience (especially Auburn specific examples). It honestly feels more like a friend type relationship than professor. He truly wants everyone to succeed and will help so willingly.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's very important to consider always attending class since his lectures are very helpful to when it comes to taking his tests. He doesn't provide any homework or readings, only lecture notes, but he is a great professor who is willing to help you pass his tests if need be.
Amazing professor! Knows the material forwards and backwards and is able to take pretty much any question and answer it and tell you a point where it is featured in the slides. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's kinda hard to do good on the exams if you don't come to class. Study the way he tells you to in his "study tips". Makes things easy. :D
No matter how much I study I will never do good on his exams because they have a time limit and I never have enough time. He was a chill dude but I can't learn off a power point.
Your final grade is only based off of 4 tests so make sure you study a lot in advance. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to pay attention to lectures to pass.
Finck is awesome. Be prepared to take good notes from his PowerPoints because he moves fast. Attendance is not mandatory but it's to your advantage if you go. Tests are online, but that doesn't mean they're easy. Grade is based off of 4 exams, but the final can replace your lowest! TAKE FINCKKKKK!!!! He is the GOAT.
Not a bad professor overall but grades on very few things. Course is made up of four exams and an optional cumulative final which replaces your lowest exam. No extra credit, homework, or grade boosts; if you decide to take his class be prepared to attend class regularly in order to do well. Exams are virtual, timed, and are difficult to do well on.
Finck is kind of a legend around here. He's one of those teachers who is a 5 star dude, who also has a 5 star difficulty. You need to make sure you pay attention in class because his tests are hard, but they are unproctored and online so if you know a decent amount and you use the slides on the tests, you should get a good grade. Finck is the GOAT!
Hard class, but if you do the reviews you should do well on the tests. Also replaces your lowest grade with the final.
Dr. Finck is a wonderful and hilarious professor. Your grade is determined by four exams, each worth 25% of your grade, and an optional final that replaces your lowest grade. The tests are all online and as long as you write out and understand all of the various concepts and graphs, not just the practice problems, you should be perfectly fine.
Legendary professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but I'd suggest going. Tests aren't proctored at all but they're tough to cheat on. Final just replaces your lowest so just get the grade you want through the four exam.
Finck is awesome and so funny! Only grades are the 4 exams and the optional final replaces lowest test grade. Attendance not mandatory and slides are posted, but hard to understand graphs/tables without going to lecture. He does a good job simplifying-Tests reflect the lectures and reviews. No busy work! Highly recommend!
If you go to class you'll be fine! The only bad thing was the tests were the only grades and he doesn't give extra credit, but Mr. Finck was a great professor and if you go to him with any questions he's willing to help. Everything you need is on his slides and from lectures and the tests are online.
He is a good teacher. As a student, he lets you be responsible for your grade by not taking attendance or giving you assistance unless you ask him. As long as you go to class and ask him for help if you need it, you should be perfectly fine with him as your professor.
I had to take Econ and I actually hated this class. His tests are all online but beware. The tests are SO HARD. It is genuinely so hard to even try to look stuff up, you won't find anything online to help you with his tests. STUDY FOR HIS TESTS. You only get graded on 4 tests and he only scaled on 1 test (by 2 pts...)
He's a really good guy, understood the students which I liked. Unfortunately, I'm a "do it multiple times in order to understand" person and Finck doesn't give any work. While this was nice and I enjoyed not having assignments, I struggled to grasp the concepts of the class which made my grade kind of plummet
For this subject, especially a freshman, get ready to study on your own a little each day. Finck has been and always will be the greatest professor in HCOB. His slides are very helpful, he's easy to talk to after class if you have any questions (including office hours). HE IS A STAPLE HERE AT AUBURN. Highly recommend you take him.
TAKE FINCK!!! I loved Finck he genuinely made me laugh and used examples that were relatable and easy to understand. Attendance isnt mandatory but you definitely need to go because its confusing it you miss class. He is super helpful especially during office hours. His class isn't easy but I now understand the material.
Dr. Finck not only made every concept clear in this class, but he also figured out how to make the material funny. By far one of the easiest professors to talk to and super easy to reach. He is an absolute legend. So funny. So nice. Could go on and on about him but be sure to take him and this class if you have the choice.
Finck is your best option for micro if you just care about the credit. Study for the tests and you'll get an A. The content is common sense, so just pay attention in lecture and it's free.
I loved the class, but I need to work with the material more than I was able to. He doesn't give many resources for practice problems, and there are no assignments to let you really work the concepts. His lectures are good, and while not mandatory, you definitely need to go to do well. His slides get posted, so I recommend going through the graphs.
Finck is the best. attendance isnt mandatory but he does get sad if people dont go to class and then writes a sad email. theres only tests as grades, but theres study guides and he posts every lecture. also the final is optional and replaces your lowest test grade.
Finck the goat. Study up cause you're only graded on tests.
Best teacher at Auburn I've taken so far. Highly recommend
great, funny guy, BUT tests are online but don't be fooled, they are extremely difficult. slideshows are hard to look back on because he uses them purely to teach them in class, not great to try to look back on since he paraphrases a lot and doesn't show any work or anything on them. grades are only based off 4 tests and an optional final
I really enjoyed Finck as a professor, he tried his best to make a really boring subject entertaining. As someone who isn't good at Econ, I didn't get an amazing grade in this class, but it could've been worse. I had to study alot, but ge gives a pretty good study guide. All in all, a good class and probably better if you like math/econ.
Great professor but the grades are only on tests so go to class and make a schedule for yourself to study.
Finck was great. He's passionate about teaching, but he has a lot of advanced knowledge so it gets a bit hard if you have no idea what's going on. Tests come pretty much directly from the notes and you get to take at home. Notes are posted online too. He is funny and will help your grade out in the end if you give effort and are really close.
Finck is hilarious and very entertaining when lecturing. He is good at teaching, though his exams are quite difficult. The whole class is based on only 4 exams with an optional final replacing your lowest exam. I have friends who did poorly in his class, but if you are ready to work, and put the time into studying you'll be fine
Not gonna lie, I went to class twice. If I actually went to class I'm sure it would've been an easy A. There are 4 exams, the 4th (the final) is optional. All exams are online but you definitely have to know how to do it (AI is pretty mediocre for it as of right now). He's a great teacher, definitely recommend.
Dr. Finck is a really funny guy. I took him for a summer minimester and he allowed you to move as fast as you wanted. There was something due every day that classes were going, but most were just assignments that you could retake until you got a 100. Definitely take him if you get the chance.
This was a very good class to take over the summer. A lot of information in a short time but his video lectures are extremely helpful. Really good teacher and good class if you take the time to study.
Econ 3300 was definitely more enjoyable than Micro mostly due to the fact that sports interests me. If it doesn't, take a different class. Mr. Finck is a good teacher, but wow does he talk and lecture slowwwww. you can put his lectures on 1.5x and take notes to save time. Concepts can be rather difficult, but focus and you will do decent.
The best microeconomics professor ever!! Take him if you can! He is super caring and wants you to do well in the class.
Very nice and engaging professor. Doesn't take attendance but if you miss a lecture you miss a lot of material on the tests. The tests themselves can be somewhat difficult but not too bad if you studied. If you struggle on the first test you should go to office hours because it will be so helpful and I wish I'd done it sooner.
Great teacher and does everything the right way. I think my frustrations with the class are more of me problems not him problems
One of my favorite professors here at Auburn. He's clear: attendance is not mandatory, though it does help significantly when it comes to taking the four tests that make up the entirety of your grade.
The best Micro economics teacher on campus. Funny stories, realistic and easy to understand. 4 tests that are easy enough if you come to class and take good notes.
He is very funny and engaging in lectures. His tests are quite tricky but manageable. Great professor and I would take his class again.
I loved Finck. He's super funny and really nice. He's definitely willing to help you out if you need help. Not to be that person, but he's nice to look at as well.
Great teacher and tried to make class as engaging as possible, even though there is a slideshow for every lecture. Only grade by 3 difficult tests and the final is optional but if you go to class and take good notes the class is an easy B. Always has office hours and wants you to succeed.
Dr. Finck is amazing. He truly cares about his students and is always available during his office hours. Highly recommend. There are 4 exams (final is optional), final replaces your lowest test grade. no extra credit given. He might even scale the grade if the class average is low.
Super funny and interactive. Grade is 3 exams and the final is optional and will replaces your lowest test score
Great and funny professor and person overall, grades are only based on exams and an optional final. Attendance not counted but go, very helpful for the exams. Easy class overall.
He is a good teacher and lecturer. Makes a good understanding of the topic but there is no homework or assignments so if you struggle with math or test anxiety it is hard on the grade. However, the test are online and have until late in the day to take it.
Genuinely I don't know how anyone could say anything bad about Finck. His class is extremely easy to follow. He grades off of 4 exams with an optional final to replace the lowest grade. Attendance isn't mandatory but it is extremely recommended to understand. OFFICE HOURS!!! You do still need to study for his tests. love this guy!
He is awesome for the transition between high school and college. I definitely could've had a higher grade, but I only got to go to office hours once because I had another class right after and work all the other times. That being said, his office hours are as useful as you make them.
Professor Finck is amazing. He's one of those professors who actually seems like he has a personality- he's personable, caring, and enjoys his job. Exams aren't easy but if you take good notes and show up you'll do fine.
Very good teacher overall, only complaints are that the only grades for the class are 4 exams. Attendance isn't required but you will not get a good grade if you don't go often because the tests are solely based on lectures.
