Very sweet always smiling, very smart knows her stuff. Use the note taker for each section available and class is very easy, write your own notes when note taker is available and you won't do so well. Other then that easy class nice teacher
good teacher
easy going. great teacher
She is really nice, she did get behind in grading but she is willing to help students and note takers make it easy to take the class lecture notes.
I loved this teacher she covered a whole lot that high school history did not cover. She is a very in debt teacher, assignments and test are easy and cover exactly what was covered. She also offers extra credit.
Loved this teacher. Very in debt on subjects. Sweet lady easy class plus extra credit.
Very smart and sweet. She's also funny. I was always laughing in her class.
you've really gotta read your book and take notes in this class.i'm not very passionate for history and government so that might be why i struggled so much but the teacher is fun.i learned some interesting things in her class
she is pretty useless when it comes to teaching most of what you need for this class is her powerpoints and notetakers.
this isnt an easy class that is for sure i dont know why all these rates say she is if you wanted a blowoff class this isnt the one
This is not a blow off class. The teacher is nice but I feel she is a terrible teacher. I sat in the front of the class and took notes as well as used her note-takers but something she always said was "There will be stuff on the test that we didn't review." The point is to teach your students. Not have them struggle. Look somewhere else students.
Teacher assisted when asked. She also provided "fill in the blank" note takers. Offered extra credit as well!! Anyone who wants to learn, will learn from her!!
I took Professor Bowman's Federal Government class. It was an extremely difficult class. Tests were usually right at 100 questions and the essay questions were insane. Luckily she does offer extra credit, but there were no test reviews. I struggled in this class.
No test reviews were given. Tests were usually around 100 questions with very in depth essay questions. Unless you already know a great deal about the government, I would look elsewhere.
I felt that Ms. Bowman was out to see her students fail. When you ask questions about assignments, she gives vague answers; always correcting her PowerPoints during lectures. Spent too much focus on civil rights and liberties so that the last units were rushed. Offers extra credit. Needlessly difficult class.
Mrs. Bowman is a great teacher. She is very tough, but overall great. Notetakers were fill in the blank and test were online.
Mrs. Bowman is a great professor. She can tough, but her class is not that challenging. Show up to her class and you will be sure to pass.
She is the most rude person I have ever known. You ask her for help and she refused to help you, all she will say is read this or read that, you tell her you did and still can not find it well you will never get a response back or if you do and she thinks its a dumb question she will send you a e-mail back with a two ward response "blank stare"
She is a great professor, took her during the summer. Pretty easy, her lectures are powerpoint only so you much go to class, but gives FILL IN THE BLANK notes. You do have to read the book for the test, and all tests were online. Gives extra credit and even gives you the answers to it!
Classes are lectures and PowerPoint's - her "note-takers" are mandatory. Several timed quizzes and tests. Textbook is a must; lectures and note-takers do not cover all test material. She's a new teacher, and it's obvious - unorganized, and rambles. If you need help or have a question, ask a classmate. Nice woman, but needlessly difficult class.
By far the best professor I have had at TCC. I took her class fall of 2014 and again spring of 2015 because I enjoyed her so much. The class is not super difficult if you study for the tests. There are plenty of opportunities to earn points throughout the semester.
If you skip her class or sleep through it then you are more than likely to fail. She is really funny and makes it easy to relate to the topics discussed. I took her during a summer course and the tests were online but still have the book with you! As long as you do what your supposed to you will pass.
Don't take her for an online class. Structures the online class horribly and makes it way more difficult than what a basic government class needs to be. Material wasn't hard, but the way she structures the online class made it frustrating and difficult.
Extremely unorganized. The material (as said before) is not difficult so this class shouldn't be this stressful. The instructions on assignments and due dates don't make any sense. I've asked for clarification via email because I'm taking the online course and her responses are short, unhelpful, and rude.
Very unorganized. Probably the worst class I've taken at TCC so far. The material is pretty simple so it should be easy but its not. Her lectures are power points straight from the book so you could pretty much teach yourself what she teaches. She is very rude when you ask questions and her due dates are all over the place. Don't take her.
Personally, this teacher was not very organized and didn't respond to emails sent to her in a timely manner. She assigns a ridiculous amount of homework, quizzes, discussion boards, video and surveys weekly, Plus there are 4 exams throughout the semester including final. I don't recommend this class if you have full time classes/ full time work.
I haven't been too impressed with this one :-( The due dates for assignments are a bit all over the place, and the exams are kind of difficult. However, the weekly chapter quizzes are pretty easy and most of the information can be found in the powerpoints. The material is simple enough, but it's not the best.
Easy class, instructor just takes her class way to seriously. A lot of meaningless work in each section but it is easy. Tests are way to long but again, fairly easy. Don't take if you're looking for something with less work.
Not a bad teacher, but a little all over the place at times. Beware of assignments not being updated until the day they are assigned even if forewarned.
Teacher has a introductory video of herself and she explains she is the "Queen "B" of the class". It would be easier to find a needle in a hay stack than pass her tests. No idea where some of the test questions came from, not in the text or power points.
This teacher isn't available when you need her. She does not grade your work in a timely fashion so you can know your grades. She updated her syllabus late which caused confusion among the students.
She graded so late every time, but what do you expect from a college professor. There was a lot of discussion boards and small homework assignments. They were not hard just tedious. Overall you have to work for an A. It's a easy class for a B.
You must show up to class & read your textbook. Not a bad teacher, but she can be a little over the place at times. Due dates are not clear she changes them, grades are not updated quick. Theres a lot of assignments which are easy. Test & quizzes are online but TIMED Study One essay Question in class Any Q'S Email classmates before emailing her..
The class is not difficult you will not get a good grade if you do not do your work. Exams are very long with 1 to 2 essay questions worth total of 20 points. Be to spend a lot of your time reading and doing lots of assignments.
She was disrespectful to the student and did not set us up to succeed. Good luck trying to get an A. I was never late on an assignment, and did everything required. This class was my first B ever.
took her online. the class wasn't hard very tedious work though. makes you use proctor u so no googling answers. overall okay class
Bowman is hard to reach and slow to respond to emails about class issues. Also, she is using proctorU for exams which makes it incredibly difficult to find time to fit in her numerous tests/exams. Also, I had tons of issues with how she would lock down all the material until the previous work was done. Many issues with proctorU (only with her)
Test heavy, uses a system that is difficult for working adults. Proctor U is not a friendly system when you have to do class work in between LIFE!
I took her as a summer class and learned a lot. I really enjoyed the class.
She's very nice. Shares personal stories related to the topic. Extra credit. Do your work every week. It's not a whole lot. Not the most interesting material but it's not the professors fault.
Unorganized in a way, lots of things that is not understanding, tons of work and very hard to understand. The test and quizzes do not follow what she teaches.
One of the best professors at TCC. She is funny, smart, and interactive during her lectures and truly cares about her students grasping the knowledge she provides. It was a difficult class, but she provides motivation to get it done and to get it done right.
Do not take her! Several quizzes a week based off of dated materials. Late grading papers. Assignments are mostly busy work. Her tests are not pulled from the very little teaching material she provides. All she gives is a power point and a fill in the blank sheet, and not always even that. Some of her test answers are contradictory and even wrong.
Bowman is an excellent instructor, but she's not just going to hand out A's which is to be expected at a college level. My experience with her was positive. Students just have to be prepared to stay organized and be involved. She was always willing to answer my questions and emails.
Professor Bowman has probably been one of the most influential professors I have had at TCC. She provided many things in order to pass the quizzes and tests as well as using the textbook. I took her online this past wintermester.
I'm taking 4 classes this semester including this one. In my other 3 classes I have an A, but in this one I'll be lucky if I can get a B. I'm struggling trying to keep up with the endless amounts of homework and quizzes she gives. Her quizzes are all online and timed, so if you don't like doing online work, I wouldn't advise taking this course
Her blackboard page is ATROCIOUS! She posted 5 assignments all due within the first few days of the course, 3 of which had no link on any of the 10 tabs of her blackboard, and another that was an ESSAY due the first week. She also fudged up the gradebook and had assignments due WEEKS before class even started. DO NOT TAKE!
professor bowman was an awesome lecturer , always kept you interested, she answered all questions and kept us well informed of what we are to expect .. very interactive and cares about you if you are willing to make it, she will help you. i will be taking her again for tex govt.
Professor Bowman was my favorite! All of her quizzes and exams where online . (open note if you know what I mean) and extremely easy, straight from her powerpoints. She gives almost 3 points for extra credit every test. Lectures always entertaining. Hands down one of my favorite professors, she is extremely passionate and wants you to pass.
I took Ms. Bowman for Govt 2305. during my first semester with her i had very unexpected tragedies in my family and as long as I kept her informed and did my work she was very understanding and caring She is a professor that gives you real life experiences that relates to the topics that she lectures. i am taking govt 2306 and have a steady B now
This professor provides quizzes over material that is not included in the course, she responds late to emails and grades your work late. I had assignments that was completed from January through February that had no grades until the middle of April.
If you are planning on taking professor Bowman for GOVT-2306, prepare to teach yourself. Class is mainly taught through an online course purchased with an access code and the lectures almost always go off topic with her opinions. She will express how hard/tough her tests are, but never goes about finding a way to help her students. Dont recommend.
If you are planning on taking Professor Bowman for Govt 2305 online, goodluck! She gives crazy amounts of homework that are very time consuming, no reviews for the tests, the tests records your face and screen and is 80 or so questions (not all multiple choice), she responds late to your emails, and takes forever to put in grades!
She is an amazing lady and is really passionate, she tells you what is going to be on the quizzes and tests. She truly wants everyone to pass her class, just show up and listen to lectures. Also use the power points she gives, they are really helpful and what she goes off of.
Disorganized lectures that do not match information on quizzes and tests. Hard to find grading rubrics and hard grading criteria. Rude and unapproachable. This is a common core class, there is no reason for her to treat it like it's the MOST important class you'll ever take (because it isn't). Find a different instructor.
For an online class, this is stupid hard. She opens assignments on Mondays and ALL due dates are the Thursday of that week. So you don't even get 1 week to finish assignments. The syllabus, weekly announcements, and lessons ALL have different due dates. So you'll never be confident if you actually completed all of your assignments on time.
Wonderful Lady, likes to cut up. Pay attention and everything will wonderful. She cares about what she does and it shows! Must PARTICIPATE and all will be great!!! EASY CLASS VERY Easy to PASS!!!
If I had to read an encyclopedia from the front cover to back, it still wouldn't take up the work and effort this class equals to. In fact, Id read an encyclopedia twice before ever reconsidering to take this course again. She gave loads of homework and even took off points without an explanation why. Madelyn Bowman is the absolute worse Teacher!
Don't recommend this teacher. You'd have better luck teaching yourself through a textbook. Doesn't respond to emails, when she does it seems like she's too busy to give a full answer. Test's and quizzes don't match up with the homework. Weird grading (some assignments were only .5 points towards the grade) DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE
For a class thats primarily taught through a third party platform, theres an outrageous amount of tabs on the blackboard page, some of which lead to nowhere. Theres wrong due dates on just about everything some things even say they were due YEARS prior to this semester. Instructions on assignments are mostly unclear or straight up missing. AWFUL
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I have never had a problem with a professor until Professor Bowman. Some assignments are worth 0.1-0.5 points, you will have over 10 assignments due in 4 days, get ready for fill in the blank exam questions, and her feedback on your assignments? Makes you feel bad about your work. Very unprofessional and overall rude.
I finished this semester not knowing if I past or failed because she is just not putting grades in and its the last hour of the semester. She will not answer what you asked in your email. The class was just so unorganized. The book she asked us to get half way through the semester made me sound dumb for using the textbook. .1 rating
I took Professor. Bowman as an online class in the Fall 2020. For this course, I purchased the McGrawhill-Connect, which I thought was required. Turns out, Professor said that it's only for practice, only assignments she give out matters. A group project will be assigned that goes on for the rest of the semester, but not much students participate
All my classes I've had A's up until this point. She's very test heavy. Be prepared to pay for an expensive online e book where you are required to do assignments and quizzes weekly. Her BB was a mess, with several incorrect dates, and she NEVER responds to emails. Her instructions can be unclear and vague. It's a terribly cluttered online class.
Def should not be an online professor. TONS of course work, tests are 80+ questions long with short answers and no study guide is given. You will have no idea what exactly to study as there is there 2 books, her lectures + extra reading to go thru each week. Her course is all over the place. Oh, and ZERO communication from her if you email. Avoid.
Not the best professor... the test are extremely long. She also claimed that she would drop an exam grade and never did. She does not provide you with any feedback. I spent the entire semester frustrated with this class.
To pass her class you need a free schedule. She would wait to unlock folders with hours of lectures until the afternoon the day it is due. Her instructions were confusing and her assignments were old. She not only didnt respond to emails, but she would complain to the entire class if enough of us emailed her.
lots of assignments not necessary to understanding course material. she will accept late assignments but make sure to do complete exams by their due dates. her grading criteria is unclear sometimes. the discussion boards are fun, the topics she picks are interesting. the tests are extremely long and proctored, the textbook and lectures do not help.
Please do not take this class There lots of better professor! class is very unclear and long proctored tests never responds to email! 0/10 course please stay far away from this class! Awful just Awful
DONT make the same mistake I did. I made deans list last semester and this class is going to prevent me from doing the same this semester. There is so much useless material that you will never see on a quiz or exam. With this low of a score you would think she would tweak her material by now. Ive never had such a bad experience in a class before.
The lectures are way different from what is on the quizzes.
This Professor is very unorganized has a very cluttered canvas course and inaccurate syllabus. Very politically biased and will let you know her personal irrelevant opinion on politics.
She doesn't reply to emails or message boards without you waiting days or weeks. She gives tests back to back as well as mini projects/ essays that don't explain the instructions. She only tells you the topic and says to watch a video, and then boom, that's it. Also, her due dates are the same regardless of what she makes mistakes.
This Professor was 100% awful. She takes months to reply to emails, whichever way you try to communicate with her. She does not keep up with her syllabus schedule which throws off her whole class, and during finals, she didn't even open her exam on the correct date, which she posted herself. IF YOU CAN, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. SAVE YOUR GPA.
Her courses are a LOT of work being incredibly test heavy. It was manageable, and I just barely scraped by; most people are not that lucky. She is a tough grader, and although small, extra credit is offered. If you want a response do not email, just send a message through inbox. Listen to the ratings, RMP does not lie. I suggest taking a diff prof.
I really didn't think the wintermester class was bad. It was pretty easy to me. It's self guided, she gives video instructions. Well yeah the modules are a little cluttered, but it wasn't that hard. I don't see how anyone would fail. She gives you a chance to make up work. I've taken hard professors, she didn't fit my definition of being hard.
Do not take Professor Bowman's wintermester class. Highly disorganized. Way too much work crammed into just 2.5 weeks. She even said in one of her emails that she did not take any of the material out from her regular 12 week course. This was a 2.5 WEEK COURSE. If you're trying to contact her, don't email, but contact her directly through Canvas.
I took her online class and I usually do well in political science or any kind of social science class but I really struggled in this one, mainly because a solid 35% of the test questions are nowhere to be found in the text or lectures. I couldn't figure out what to study or when things were due because her canvas page is so disorganized. Avoid.
Professor Bowman is a great professor! She knows her subject and shares more information than tests are over, therefore you will have information needed to pass. Attend class, read chapters, take notes during lectures and study for quizzes and tests, you will pass her class!
This professor is very disorganized. You will need to search for where and how to turn in assignments. You'll have to memorize all the info in the chapters for testing and the exams include multiple paragraph essays. Good luck! And good luck with all the Proctoring.
The class was full of good information. As a 40 year old student I thought it was awesome. I'm starting to think that the online education has allowed so much cheating that when you actually have to do college level work, nevermind! We grade awesome professors low.Yes I had to read the book! I would take her if you want to learn, not just pass.
She gave tons of assignments for one week. Long and complex discussion board and assignment topics mostly every week. Exams were 82 questions, timed and proctored, and covered topics/subjects that are just simply impossible to remember and know everything. Very overwhelming.
Very tough teacher
Okay professor, knows her stuff.
Her expectation of an exam essay is absurd. I got 57 questions right out of 60 on the multiple choice section and wrote a 550-word essay and she gave 6 points out of 25 on it. barely passing the exam.
This was absolutely the worst class I have ever taken. For one there is SOOO much homework. insane amount of homework, so do not take this class if you plan to have more than one class. She uses respondus lockdown for her exams DB, lots of general homework, quizzes and papers. It is REALLY heavy load. Also she will not respond to you at all.
I took this class back in fall of 2020 so it was all online. The instructor was cool and I believed I learned a lot from the lectures in terms of philosophy that I didn't even bother to learn in the first place. There were a lot of reading assignments and it was difficult to keep up with at times but I truly liked this class.
I took a 5-week online course over the summer so I understand that we didn't have as much time to cover all the material but she rushes through everything. There's WAY too much homework and daily assignments, and she would also have us take 1 to 2 tests every week, along with her multiple discussion boards and busy work that didn't contribute much.
Assigned enormous amounts of homework. I would've found another class if I had the option
Terrible. Unclear on all her lectures and expects you to understand every concept immediately.
Just no. Avoid this professor
She assigns so much busy work that either doesn't help you learn the material or it covers concepts that aren't on any of the quizzes or tests. She also makes you do multiple discussion boards and gave us 1 to 2 exams per week. I hope she changes the way she teaches
Please avoid her.
One of the questions on her assignments was wrong and I was confused so I emailed her. After trying to communicate that the "correct" answer choice didn't make sense, she just told me she couldn't help and that I needed to figure it out on my own. Completely unhelpful and rude. I would avoid her class if possible.
The course requires you to have to pay for a $140 textbook per semester to take the class. And there was over 10 assignments due in one day.
Get ready for a whole lot of reading AND SO MUCH HOMEWORK! She'll end up making you pay $150 just for a textbook where she puts all her work at.
She assigns so much work in one day. Some of the links that she posts dont even work
Most of the links in the class don't even work, and she assigned so much work in one day.
no good at all
Bad with communication, uses a browser that does not work for most students in my class but has not changed anything to accommodate. Assigns assignments which some are short but many are lengthy and tedious.
Requires a lot of busy work, all textbooks, this has to be one of the most boring class I've ever taken. also requires A LOT of writing, so much so that I have to write more in this class for discussion boards and other stuff than my ENGLISH class. She doesn't even teach you, she just assings things,
She's an Umm teacher. It makes her lectures seem like she just studied the night before and doesn't remember the material herself. Her exam reviews are completely irrelevant to the exams. She allows open notes but that is not helpful when the notes she has you write down has nothing to do with the exams.
Professor was very disorganized from day 1, she never even showed to her first class and claimed she sent an email dispite never doing so. Dispite reading the textbook in depth and having open note tests her class quickly dropped my grade and she was not helpful at all. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
Avoid at ALL COST. The notes she provides for the test are nowhere near the same. Get ready for a test or quiz every week. Plus 30 homework assignments that only add up to 20 points at the end if that. The test are 77 questions they are not all multiple choice. Seriously save your gpa and take a better professor!!!! Very unorganized.
THE WORST CLASS EVER. RUN. Test are 77 question and are more than multiple choice. Lectures are not helpful at all she is completely unorganized. Test every other week, and quizes, and every single week you have 10 homework assignments. Had professors not be lecture heavy in the past and still learned more from than her. Please DONT do it!
Absolute mess. This teacher was unable to keep the schedule for the due dates in order, and the lectures were terribly paced and presented.
Multiple quizzes a day, long assignments, study guides that had nothing to do with the test. Each of the 5 tests was 80~ questions including multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, and 1-2 essay questions. Made us buy a $70 textbook that we never used in the class. AVOID!
Dont take her class; she doesn't reply to a single email THROUGHOUT the semester. As a prof. you have a simple job of communicating with students who paid money and their time. Its just going to be you and your computer. She will post assignments a day after the due date; when your grade drops, she claims she will fix it, but never does ignoring u.
