She is absolutely hilarious and uses stories from the news and applies psychology to those situations. Does these awesome demonstrations using guests of students. At first it seemed like a lot of work, she does require volunteering hours. But it definitely was one of the funnest classes I have ever taken. She is just hilarious!
Funny lady. Service Learning and Demos were intimidating at first, but turned out to be not so bad. Barely any lectures, which was awesome! She applied news and gossip of the world into our class discussions. Maggie goes over exactly what you need to know for the tests. Time consuming, but fun.
Nice person, horrible teacher. she's funny and has great stories, a fun personality but never taught. she does ppt definitions and if she ever teaches anything else its ec on an exam. exams are minimal facts from the book, don't read just memorize the study guide. mult Qs on test are correct yet u wont get credit and unequal points cuz "thats life"
Maggie is an excellent instructor, who I would recommend to any of my friends. Her sense of humor is contagious, and her teaching style is most interesting: occasional powerpoint lectures, with the majority of the class material learned during personal readings of the textbook and through in-class discussions.
Maggie is one of the best college instructors I have ever had. The textbook is fundamental to the course, but she makes it come alive with humor, openness and candor. Lots of work plus service learning is required (and well worth it if you choose the right org.) I looked forward to every class and never glanced at the clock once! Thanks Maggie!
Wasn't very clear of what was expected, and grades you down for stuff that wasn't specified entering the class.
I took this course online. It was simple enough. I kept getting full points on everything. Then I asked her about a question I got wrong on the test cause she marked it wrong but it was right. After that she's been hardcore dinging my points on everything. So don't try to fight for your points.
She was a great teacher, really funny. She tells you exactly what she's expecting, even tells you the only font you are allowed to use. Posts Powerpoint online and has study guides for test that are not turned in. She has two major papers and has pop quizes to make sure you're studying, but we mostly did them as a class. I'd take her again! :)
Took her course on-line. Modules only open Mon-Fri. So you can't work on anything on weekend. She is very unorganized. She didn't fill out the calendar until half way through the week we were in. No due dates ever posted. Unacceptable for on-line courses. Answers on exams contradicted text. Maybe a good classroom teacher but avoid on-line.

I don't think she actually learned anything in College, that she applies in real life. she is the kind of professor that if you didn't address her correctly she won't answer your emails. I didn't put thank you for asking a question and she responded by saying its not acceptable. Another reason is because her tests often have wrong answers.
Worst professor I've ever had. I've been going to college for sometime and she's horrid. 15 hours of "service learning" community service for a 5 credit course is ridiculous; I have a full schedule. When asked a question she says I won't answer, ask a classmate. Grading is never constant. Don't argue; she'll be tougher on u! Nothing but frustration
Class was Assertive Communication-Prof. Seibel did an awesome job-No textbook needed-course is intensive & you need to be present in order to learn all of the infomation-Prof. Seibel is clear about the requirements for the course, she has a great sense of humor-awesome class worth taking if you want to learn how to be assertive in your life and job
Maggie was a great professor, I took her online class. Deadlines and expectations were very clear, you just need to follow them and you will be fine. Heavy textbook use. She uses study guides but there are questions on the exams that are not on the study guide. She picks random statistics out of the book on tests so pay attention. Good experience!
Maggie is absolutely adorable when she's making jokes, but she reads word-for-word of the powerpoints- which are taken from the book. Therefore, there is no need to show up for class but she does make you. Just leave for the 2nd half & you'll get counted for attendance. Also you can easily get the answers out of her on exams. Get on her good side!
I took her class online and it was the worst class ever
Professional, Organized, and intellectual! This Psychology 200 gives you good balance on outside activities and inclass activities. She is loving and kind. And her sense of great humor makes the entire class time enjoyable! Her reasoning and giving examples are the best!Laughable but stays always at the right content. Tests are fair and achievable
I've never written a negative prof review before but I want to warn others. I can't account for the positive reviews here; my experience of her is the worst in my college career thus far. Capricious and condescending; class work confined to M-F (note if you have a job or anything); far more concerned with legalism than teaching or learning. AVOID!
Prof is very nice and her lectures are fun and interesting, but don't coincide much with what you'll be tested on. Exams are almost exclusively comprised of textbook information. Prof also is very particular about receiving homework in her required format, but as long as you're engaged in class, and follow her instructions to the T, you're golden.
This class can be time consuming, but I did get an A. You have to read the book to do well on the tests. Be sure to read all of her directions before turning in in assignments. If you follow them, she will grade fairly. Attendance is mandatory even though the lectures don't help much with your test grade.
Maggie is outstanding, her directions are clear and to the point. She's awesome, I can't believe anyone would write a bad review of her, took online course, all was there and perfect.... Great experience
Her online class was a lot harder than expected. She grading standards were really high for the class. Doing minimal wasn't enough to even get a decent grade...
She is completely fair, and sincerely cares about her students learning, emotional and mental health, and promoting student's academic careers. She is clear as to her grading criteria, so there is "no hiding of the ball." The grade she gives you is what you deserve. If you want an "A" put in the work and effort. She is a GREAT teacher.
She seriously cares about student's learning, emotional & mental health, & promoting students. She is caring & totally fair. There is no "hiding of the ball." The grade you get is what you deserve. So if you want an "A," put in the work and effort. I do not know my grade yet & her class is a lot of work, but she is a GREAT professor.
If you want an "A" expect to put atleast 15-20 hours of work in each week. This class relies VERY heavily on the book, I wish there was some way the teacher could find a way to break up the monotony. 9 papers to write (uhh!) 5 test, multiple responses every week (i took it online) and no final. Teacher is very responsive and grades quickly.
Online course: you will literally read the book cover to cover. Weekly discussion posts, and 4 page case study. Test every 2 weeks, and they are pretty tough. Professor is great and very helpful should you need her. This class is not hard, but very time consuming. I suggest the online book so you can search test terms without much effort.
don not take this class unless you are a greatly hard working student. I took campus class however is seems like a self learning course, don't expect too much from this instructor.
All the assignments felt like little therapy sessions. To be successful in this class, you NEED the book. The tests were damn hard but the assignments were simple and self-explanatory. You'll love the teacher, shes sweet as pie :)
Her grading criteria is spelled out exactly. No doubt of what's expected. Her online deadlines were at 10 instead of midnight, which was a bit frustrating for me. I wish she participated in the discussion board a bit with us. Lots of reading, but it's an easy, entertaining, and informative text. Maggie was encouraging and quick to contact students.

Be prepared to do a lot of work in this class! Although Maggie is clear about her expectations for the class, her expectations are difficult. Be prepared to read 3-4 chapters/wk, do 3-4 pg. case study/ wk, and a big test every other wk on up to 7 chapters. Some of the test questions are so vague, or are literally sentences out of the book.
ONLINE COURSE-- She lets you know exactly how she grades from the start which is really nice. Online deadlines were at 10 instead of midnight which isn't as great but it works. Tons of reading and the book isn't very fun, but look at the study guide and you'll do fine on tests. Fair amount of work (esp with reading) but doable and easy to get an A.
Seibel is a horrid prof. She *never* teaches anything herself, but just expects you to read it all on your own. She also assigns massive amounts of homework and projects that are pure busywork. I think she's trying to make up for the fact that she doesn't teach, so by assigning you loads of homework she hopes you'll actually learn something.
the poorest teacher ever!!!!! Don't take her class, because you won't learn anything from her!She assigns loads of homework (need to write about 2000 words per week)and expects you to know every word in the textbook for test. Her website and syllabus look fancy and organized but the form is more than the content. She used years old material!
Very difficult class. Lots of reading and writing. I would not recommend this class unless you are willing to work extremely hard. You will write a lot! The discussions should be at least 2-3 paragraphs. There are also two big papers and 5 very difficult tests. Study hard. Good luck...
Maggie is a great teacher, makes sure her rubric is clear and available to everyone, expects you to read the textbook thoroughly. Exams are straight from the textbook material. Had a couple grading inconsistencies between her words and the textbook's words, and had to fight for weeks to get credit. Overall, very good professor.
I wanted her as a teacher to know what double-standard means. She wanted us to be organized, but she was extremely unorganized (she mixed up materials and announcements for the course with another class she was teaching). She took points from us for grammatical errors and misspelling, when her grammar or spellings were not always correct.
She was not very clear about assignments. When I asked why I lost some points on my essay, she could not give me the exact reason why she deducted points. How can I improve it if the she couldn't explain why?
Maggie is very kind, but I seriously disliked how she did her online class. Due dates on Mondays and Wednesdays by 10pm and 8am threw me off and made it difficult to complete at the right time. Also, weird requirements - I lost points for forgetting to put my font in Helvetica. 1 case study and 1 discussion per week, heavy book use.
Maggie is very nice and friendly. She explains things well. I was a little surprised how picky she was with my grammar. She was almost as picky as my English teacher, but I found some of her grammatical mistakes so I felt like she was a bit hypocritical.... I enjoyed her class overall.
It requires heavy reading to get good grade in her class. There are five exams throughout the course and the lowest score out of the five will be dropped down which is really convenient. You have to study three chapters for each exam which are about 60-70 pages to study!!! The other assignments and discussions are quite easy if you spend time to do
Great class and teacher!
95% of this class was students working out their own personal issues in class, I would have skipped the whole quarter if attendance wasn't mandatory. Record the "Jeopardy" it's where all the test questions come from. Make sure you papers are the exact length specified or she will take points off for too short or too long. Easy A though.
Load of reading and writing
Very good teacher. Organized, clear grading only prepare to read a lot
Worst teacher ever!
She is very helpful, response quickly. not much extra credit. get ready to read a lot from first page to last page of book.
This was one of the hardest classes I ever took. I took the online class. Maggie is a tough grader and she has very strict due dates. I liked the discussions but I disliked having 2 parts to the dues dates of them. I also didn't like having a majority of the homework due on a Monday. I work weekends and her assignments weren't easy.
Maggie is a great instructor for Psychology 200! She definitely utilizes the book so be prepared to read. However, I did find the book to be useful and will be using it for reference in the future. Due dates were very clear and easy to keep up with! no surprises. During lectures, she will go over the chapters, exams, and case studies. Go to class!
Worst teacher ever I got! Get prepared for reading and writing. All assignments are due Monday and Wednesday. So it hard in a short time period to read and writing so many assignment. Hard to satisfied her after so many hard work.
never do mistake take her class. Sometime her grading isn't clear. So be careful!!!!! think twice before take her class.
I don't know why everyone says that she is a hard grader, or that this class is the hardest online class they've ever taken, because I found it to be very easy. Maggie is clear on due dates and expectations from go, and she gives great feedback. It was an easy A for me.
She is unwilling to budge on any assignments and refuses to give grace for late assignments (even if you can't take the test or miss the test). Really wouldn't suggest taking the class from her based on my experience with her; however, it was my first online class and I am never taking an online class again so take that as you will.
She is wonderful and well organized in online class. she response very quickly. vast syllabus as usual for psychology with reading and writing. But I didn't fit in her teaching scope.
She makes everything in too complicated way. If you take other courses don't take her class. Too much lengthy and time consuming. Barely got any times for other subjects though I did better in others than her class.
Maggies's online class was clearly laid out and easy to understand the expectations.
She assigned so many paper and took points with showing excuse. She is not fair for students come from outside United States. So student from out don't take her class. Showed grammer, spelling, structure wrong and took 10-12 points in each paper. It's was really stupidity not drop from he class.
NEVER MISS A DEADLINE EVEN BY A MINUTE!!! After the second week she will have ZERO leniency towards late assignments. she also has odd dead lines at 8am
Maggie was an awesome professor! She expects you to work hard and really learn/understand the material. Assignments and grading are fair and relevant to the course. High expectations for grammar, spelling and format. Complete the study guide and you will do well on quizzes and tests (hint hint). Responsive and helpful!
You complete one case study a week (3 pages on average) along with big group projects throughout the quarter and an exam about every week. Just don't procrastinate. My favorite class to this date if you enjoy the topic. Maggie is funny, casual, and just wants her students to enjoy the class. Put effort into your work and she will praise you for it.
Maggie was a great instructor! She set up interesting case studies for our homework, got the students involved and alway gave great feedback. She offered clear instruction, guidance when needed and was an overall great teacher. My advise is to have great grammar, really read/study the book and have fun. It's an interesting class!
I heard bad things about taking this professor online, but Maggie's class was quite easy! She has clear expectations and the class is well structured. Some advice would be to use the study guides and write down the page numbers so you can refer to it when you take the exams! It won't be as easy as PSYC100 but its not hard (esp for a 200 course):)
She is a very nice teacher and well organized and quick feedback. She is very helpful.
Maggie made learning really enjoyable. She is a real character, and played music before every class to loosen the mood. She really cares that you know the material, and sometimes got a little irritated if someone was not taking the class seriously, but injected humor whenever she could. Great class, great professor. I even took her again.
You can tell she cares a lot about the subject and her students. She provides lots of feedback along with the rubric and gives lots of reminders. Discussions and case studies were fun and accessible.
I loved this class! I took hybrid, so our exams were online and all we really did in class was listen to lectures about the chapters we read and ask questions we had. She's fun to listen to and very engaging. She's aware of students stress and anxiety, so she did things to try and help with it. The assignment dates were very well laid out.
It is impossible to talk to when it comes to corresponding about your grades. If she critiques you on one thing and you fix it, be sure she will find something else to critique you on and not give you the grade you deserve. There is no wiggle room with her and she is very vague and always refers her students to the instructions. Awful!
There is a lot of reading in this class, but it is all very interesting and by the end of the quarter you do not realize how much you have actually read. There are weekly quizzes in which you get two attempts at, exams every 2-3 weeks with a clear study guide of which things are on the test. She is very understanding and there to help her students.
Maggie's very nit-picky and wants things done her way; if you don't jump through her hoops/have an opinion that differs from hers, she'll find a reason to deduct points. She gave me 17/20 because I didn't split something into "enough" paragraphs. I'm one of the very top scorers based on the class average, and I got a B+. Very negative and haughty.
This class is ok. Not hard, but not an easy A. Maggie is very nit picky and you will must follow directions very specifically. One case study due each Sunday and one discussion post each week. She'll give a 0 for late work so stay on top of it. She responds to emails fairly quick. She also gives great feedback so you know where you to improve.
I took Maggie for developmental and personality psychology, and enjoyed both classes with her very much. While she can be a tough grader, she provides good feedback on how to improve for the next time. I enjoyed all the reading and writing assignments in her classes, which were very engaging and greatly contributed to my overall learning experience
The work isn't hard, but Maggie is Nit Picky and unwilling to work with students, making it hard. She will take points wherever she can and gives a 0 for late work, regardless the reason. Points are lost for using adjectives she doesn't like or forgetting a page number. If you fix one "mistake," be sure she will find something else to criticize.
I took PSYCH 200 online, and it was pretty easy. Prof Maggie gives feedback on most things that she grades, so you know what to fix the next time around. Honestly, if you just read the assigned chapters, follow directions, and participate in the group conversations, it's easy to pass this class.
She is a TOUGH grader and won't really tell you what you're doing wrong but marks you down for it each week. Class is set up a little funky and I wasn't a huge fan. Might take classes from her again but probably not.
While her expectations are often clear, she is incredibly and unrealistically specific. You will lose points for certain words that while are accepted in the english vernacular, are considered "slang" to her. When trying to reach out to you she will simply refer back to the rubric and is unwilling to work with her students.
Prof Maggie is a good instructor with many useful assignments and readings to do. She is a tough grader but rubrics are very clearly laid out so easy to follow on what she expects. If you want to learn and apply psychology to life then take her class. She is good!
This course seemed excessively difficult to me. I spent 15-20 hours weekly in order to get an A. We had 4 assignments due each week (quiz, discussion post, responses, case study) & an exam every other week. The class is TEXT HEAVY with no lecture. Written assignments were interesting, quizzes/tests were quite difficult even with the study guide.
Everything is based on the textbook with virtually no teaching, constant tests and assignments. Very specific answers required on tests and on two occasions when I asked for the in text quote could be found, she sent me text without the word. Always says to refer back to the rubric even when you have a perfect score. Never take her class!!
Prof Maggie is very clear on her grading criteria. This class was a bit more difficult than other psych classes I have taken, but her assignments were very thought provoking that helped you retain the information being studied. If you are transparent with her she's very understanding. If you ask her questions, she's great with feedback.
Such a nice professor! She gave us all the information we need to pass in syllabus (due dates, grading criteria, and explanations we needed). I could picture her smiling when she write comments on graded assignments. Super easy class to pass with an A if you just do the work on time! Would recommend to anyone online!!
Professor Maggie is the perfect instructor for this course. She is always so cheerful, gives friendly feedback comments and always implements a complement when giving you advice on how to improve.
You complete the same 4-5 assignments a week, giving no room for creativity and leaves you feeling burnout by week 5. Textbook based class, allows her to have minimal teaching opportunities, and minimal connection with students.
Professor Maggie was an excellent teacher! I learned quite a bit from this class. Not an easy class - you will work! But she provided great feedback and was a delight to deal with. I would take a class with her again in a heartbeat!
I had Professor Maggie and she is the worst teacher I have had so far at Bellevue College. She has your read 40+ pages out of the text book for a 10 question quiz and her tests are overwhelming. She doesn't allow you any late work and even if you have a relative who passed away, she wants proof of relation. She is not helpful whatsoever.
This class keeps you busy. There's about 4-5 assignments every week. She's such a tough grader, and she can deduct 5 points for the tiniest mistake. She doesn't accept late submissions too. On the bright side, we get opportunities for extra credit and she takes time writing genuine feedback and comments.
Man, the attitude on this one. There are weekly quizzes, weekly discussions, weekly (at least) 30 pages of reading, and exams every other week. No late work at all, forget having a disability. If you're hit with a big life moment unexpectedly, don't expect an ounce of empathy or help. The readings are relatively easy, as well as discussion posts.
This class was a lot. Each week there is a discussion, quiz, real life lab, and sometimes a random paper. You have to read an insane amount. You should be prepared for at least 3 hours of work a week. Don't take this class if you don't have to
Regular tests are quite calamitous. We are to review videos and pick correct statements. These often use information not in the video. Sometimes they are completely ridiculous. For example - one answer infers it's better to study while crying, angry or in love. What? When I asked my classmates about it, they thought the statements were bizarre.
Professor Seibel is an amazing instructor! I would 100% recommend her class! There is a discussion board every week with no word count basically, a real-life lab paper that is easy to do, and a short, multiple choice quiz each week.
In her online classes, you basically learn by yourself, I would rather recommend you to just read the book by yourself. She will not explain anything, just give you quizzes where you complete sentences from the book and not where you apply the content. I was super excited to take this class, but I am now really frustrated.
if you are a second language student or a slow reader, be ready to fail in the quizzes and tests, there are only ONE MINUTE per question, does not matter if it is short or 100 words long, only one minute per question! also, she will not teach you anything, you will need to read by yourself, understand by yourself, and learn by yourself.
no matter what she wont give you an extension unless you personally were incapacitated or you were arrested or something legal. for me the school messed something up making it so i couldn't do the course work so a entire 10 percent of my grade was chunked despite me having the documentation to show it was out of my control
For "positive Psych" she expected perfect written APA style papers. When I asked in different ways, multiple times for help, I was always referred to the syllabus. I came from a GED. I needed help with this an was ignored. My grade suffered to B- as I never did write to her standard despite youtube tutorials i tried but fell short in her eyes.
Unfortunately, she grades work very harshly. I have been docked points for not having enough detail or doing things wrong after being given very little detail in the instructions for the work. Also, I was docked points for doing a formal APA heading instead of just my name.
Professor Maggie's class has a heavy workload, but she provides helpful feedback. Using unstuckstudy and other study tools like the textbook can make the class manageable.
She was absolutely terrible in all my years of schooling I have never disliked a professor so much in my life. I missed a quiz due to a friend of mine passing away and I just wanted to take it a day later. She required me to send her an obituary when I sent her a picture of it she then required me to send the whole obituary.
Exams are one-day only, and quizzes are subjective, poorly worded fill-in-the-blanks with 1 min/question. No lectures; the study guiade is unhelpful. While extra credit is offered, it barely compensates for the flawed lessons and heavy workload and you barely break even doing it. A 4-hour exercise/extensive essay assignment as well. Not worth it.
If you care about learning, please seek another professor. Thinking about asking for feedback? Keep it as a thought for someone who cares. I have never met someone who hate their job so clearly as this woman here. I would rather get into a collision than take her again. A waste of time and money.
