lets you use formula sheets on tests, this is basically a teach urself class
He doesn't know how to explaine things. Writes all over teh board, very disorganized!!!
Needs to learn English ASAP. Can't understand anything he says. Notes on board are highly disorganized. Stay away!

The Bad: cant understand a word he says, notes r disorganized, doesnt explain things well. The Good: If u no the material his tests are easy, he lets u use formula sheets on the test so u can make notes n cheat, lastly, he is a good grader on tests.
His tests are based on the HW, so if u do the HW and go to class you will be okay. It's an easy A if you are good in Math.
he is a great professor only if you can understand what he is saying....but overall, i did learn a lot from him...
He is very disorganized and sometimes loses track of what he was saying. His notes are terrible and the examples he gives on his handouts always need corrections. Always ask him twice about anything, he tends to doubt himself sometimes.

Serious language barrier. Very difficult to understand. You need to read the book to be able to get good grades on the tests.
Guy makes so many mistakes in class in makes me wonder if I really did that bad on his tests?
There definately is an language barrier, so classes can be rough. But he gives note sheets that are pretty good, and if you participate in class, he will give you the benefit of the doubt. His accent is worth a couple of laughs.

Thick accent. Just listen and you'll understand. EEEEasy tests & EEEEasy on grading. He makes all answers come out to a nice round number & u use formula sheets for tests. **READ THE CHAPTERS ** + Do the hw's = PASS the class with a good grade!
Make sure you sit in the front of the room, that is your best chance at decoding his language. Other than that, its mostly a teach yourself class, but he gives easy tests, he makes u you formula sheets and he is a very good grader.

Hard to understand and went off on random tangents. I dropped the class and later found out over 5 other people had after me, not including the ones that had dropped before i did.

I think it's sad that hofstra allows professors to teach without knowing how to speak english. Just study the handouts that he gives out during class sessions and you'll be fine.

his accent is a little tough to understand after the first day, but after the 1st week i had no problem understanding him. hes soooo nice and wants to make the tests as easy and specific as possible because he wants everyone to get A's. take him.

What can I say that could describe how bad this professor is?? Outside of class, he is a nice guy, but as a teacher, you can't understand him. He doesn't go over any of the homework problems. Or for that fact any complete problems to begin with. This guy barely speaks english.

O god, get this man out of here... i don't know a thing he's saying and on top of that he's just a bad teacher. He's unorganized and doesnt go over the subject matter very well. Deciphering his notes is harder than going through ancient hyrogliphics... not an easy class.

He's tough to understand but he was as helpful as possible... I got an A in QM 122 and I suck at math so, that says something about him...
Take him he never gives deadlines. Don't even worry about doing homework, he always pushes the deadline back. Not a bad guy, just a bad professor.

This class is so easy! He gives you all these note sheets to bring to the exams, which are also really easy. Sometimes he is disorganized, but he is a really nice person. If you just pay attention in class you shouldn't even have to study for the tests.
Save yourself and do not take him. He is very unclear. Hofstra should get a professor who can speak english well to teach a class like QM 122. He will sometimes snap at you if you ask a question he thinks you should know. Do not take this class!!!
Not bad of a professor. Do the homework and study the dittos he gives you. They are basically the test, all he does is just change the numbers around. If you don't do the homework, expect to do bad in his exam. Though I learned not much about why we do the tests for and there real life application, but at least I knew how to do it during the exams.
I took him for 001 and took him again for 122. The first day of class hes says if you come to every class and do all the HW you WILL NOT fail the class no matter how you do on the tests. So if you're only worried about passing, this class is for you. If you want to get an A, you better be able to teach yourself the material from the text book.

Without a doubt the worst professor I have ever had at Hofstra. Unclear, unfair, and yells at you if you don't know the answer. He is rude, makes many false accusations about students, and badmouths Hofstra left and right. DO NOT TAKE HIM. His tests are difficult... you stand a better chance staying home and reading the textbook.
Well I would have said that this class is impossible to pass, which I thought it was, until I got my grade, a "C". Honestly I cannot tell you how i got that grade. There are 3 tests, a big hw assignment and a final. Its alot of work, and attending class doesnt help to learn, but take at your own risk...dont say you werent warned

QM itself is a horrible class with. Things would be easier if he could speak English that.. remotely sounded like words... and his tests are in broken English. He does get the tests right from homework examples though, hes not a hard professor. Attendance doesnt matter. If you are willing to teach yourself the material.. take him but beware.

He has no control over the class, & literally refuses to go over examples in class when students ask questions he makes them feel stupid. he could not care less about his students, even when it is obvious that they are really trying hard to do well. avoid at all costs
He is not that bad. If you go to class everyday and look over your notes, you will do fine. The only reason why he didn't answer some peoples questions is because they never showed up to class and on review day they asked him questions that he already went over in previous classes.
I must admit, he is pretty difficult to understand if you don't have a background in statistics. If you actually bother to read the textbook since he gives you problems to do for each chapter, you will understand the math much better than from learning it from him. His tests are easy -he takes questions right from sheets and just changes the #'s.
This guy is possibly the worst professor I have ever seen. He is impossible to understand because of a thick Indian accent and doesnt like answering students questions.Tests are straight from sheets he hands out though and if you study the book and the sheets you will do great.He also has a very fair grading policy, easy to pass and get A.
ok he is a terrible professor that makes you feel stupid and question how you got in college. he never answers your questions then makes you feel bad you asked it. dont go to his office hours for help when you dont understand because he will yell at you for not understanding. dont take him.

I took him for both QM 1 and 122...He is a bit hard to understand at times and there are concepts you may have to teach yourself...however if you actually take the time to study the practice examples he gives before tests, the questions are the same with the numbers switched. 2 tests, final, and impossible last day in class project. Take @ risk.
This is the easiest business class if and only if you want to pay attention in class and attend it regularly. If you want a free ride, then it is not possible. This guy is quite possibly the WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD FOR ANY SUBJECT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. He can't speak, he's an a**hole, and he won't help you. Taking QM122 with him was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my adult life.
The hard thing about this class is it's so boring it's difficult to pay attention. But if you can keep the computer closed and listen even HALF the time, you'll do fine. I did bad on the first two tests, went to chandra for help and ended up acing the final and got an A in the class. Chandra wants you to do well- just go see him if you need help!
for the HARDEST class in the school, he is awesome. Once your learn to decipher his thick Indian accent, ur good. Didnt touch my textbook, failed two tests and because I tried hard, got an A on the in class EASY proj and did well on the final, he gave me a B+. Tons of handouts and lets you use all of them on tests!! Awesome!

I can't believe this guy has been teaching for 30 years and still has such a terrible accent and is so hard to understand. Horrendous teacher who clearly is kept around because they underpay him. For your own sake please do not EVER take this guy. So unhelpful and impossible to understand.

This class is complete crap. He is impossible to understand, his teaching methods suck, and asking him to explain does not do anything.....DO NOT TAKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is hard to understand but his tests are not very difficult. He contradicts himself and makes a lot of mistakes on handouts. You will be falling asleep through the class but if you teach yourself you will do alright
You have to pay attention in class to understand his Indian accent. He gives a lot of resources for you to ace the exams, and he is very caring for his students. I took him during summer session, and even then he made sure we all understand the material. We had 2 exams and 1 project. If you put in effort, you will definitely ace the class with him!
Boring class as is. With Dr Chandra, his accent is hard to overcome and lacks clarity in his teaching. Examples on BB and in PP's are often wrong and are not studiable for exams. Must do HW to fully understand and do well in this class.
TAKE HIM if youre taking qm for the first time! He makes the subject easy by taking his time teaching. The class might be boring for some but it's because he goes over everything in so much detail! Homework's not mandatory but if you do it the test is only made up of those questions & you can even choose not to take the final! How sweet is that!
I've taken QM1 with three professors & he is the BEST ONE BY FAR! Attendance/HW aren't important but the tests are the EXACT same questions as the HW! He even gives you the answers to the hw during the reviews for the tests. 2 tests & a final but if you do well on everything you don't even have to take final! Really helpful & kinda cute. Take him!
at first his accent may throw you off but once you get used to it, this class is a piece of cake. all you have to do is do the hw because he copies the same questions and put them on the test. he encourages people to ask questions and will take his time on a topic until EVERYONE understands it. I wish he was teaching QM122 cause he's that good!!
Some comments are exaggerating! he does have an accent but after 3rd/4rd class you get use to it. He actually recomends people to go to office hours because he knows the work can be confusing. Put in effort no matter how bad you do and he will reward you. No reason to do bad since exams are the same as homework and he doesn't even count attendance!
He's a really sweet guy but he has a really think accent. He hands out work sheets like crazy but they are all extremely helpful. If you can't understand him you can teach yourself off of the work sheets. Take if you don't mind teaching yourself. If you did well in QM you'll be fine.
Hes really sweet &genuinely cares about his students doing well even if he doesnt always explain the material clearly. He gives out so many practice problems that are almost identical to the test problems which is helpful &makes attendance worth a huge part of your grade so if you just show up you can prb do well. Also buying the textbook helps
Prof. Chandra is a nice guy, but I think he might be the worst professor I've had at Hofstra. His accent is very thick, making him difficult (and sometimes impossible) to understand. He simply isn't effective at teaching this difficult course. He gives out A LOT of worksheets. They come in handy, because you will likely need to teach yourself.
I sucked at QM 01 and Chandra said it didn't matter for his class. That was true but he still sucked at teaching the material. I understood it b.c I'm good at math and it just came to me after awhile. I would suggest him b.c he gives barely any work and on tests u can use the formula sheet
Porfessor is very kind and cares every student. It is true that he has thick accent and makes me confuse sometime, but I still learn a lot in his class. If you have any questions he is very willing to help. There are two exams and one project. Not very hard. Most of us got an A.

Went to his office hours (with an appointment) and he basically acted like I was bothering him and gave no useful feedback.
Do not take him, he is very hard to understand and gives out work that is above the class level. Tests are hard. Acts as if you're wasting his time during office hours
Completely lost in this class. I mean he's a sweet guy and all but I got an A in BAN001 and I got to 122 and I had no clue what I was doing and I cried four times in one week over one assignment because I couldn't even guess. BAN122 doesn't have very many good professors that teach it, but may the odds be ever in your favor.
he is a little disorganized but at the end YOU WILL BE FINE! He is super sweet and understanding of anything that may be happening. He is very lenient with deadlines and grading. He know this is a hard class and I feel as though he tries to make up for it by being super nice and understanding.
