Professor Gosine is a great professor for Anthropology and Sociology. He also teaches Caribbean Culture as an anthropology course. His courses are difficult due to big papers, but his lectures are extremely interesting.

The VERY BEST PROFESSOR at the Brentwood Campus. Intelligent, eloquent speaker, and generally concerned about his students.

Took him 2 times and got an A both times! Two tests and a LONG paper on his book. He gives you about 20 questions straight from the test before each test. He's very fair with grading too. If you mouth off and act like your "the man" he'll shut you down and make you look like an idiot. I liked him

Dr. Gosine's approach to teaching is worthy of accolades. He's different --but when it comes to knowing his stuff, he's top notch. If you are a mature adult and know how to handle your business, you won't have any trouble in his class. He teaches with high standards, and expects the best from you.

This man is awesome Dr.Gosine is a cool guy, and level headed. He really puts the "know it alls" in their place. Yet if you do know a thing or two he shows you respect and is willing to incorporate any useful information that students bring to class.

in the beginnig he seems hard but after few classes u will realize that he not that hard. we only took tests mid term and final exam, 50 multiple choice and end of the each class he gives 3 or 4 question from the test. only thing i don't like is that lectured orally no papers. he is a nice professor. he will make u write 8 pages term paper.

Awesome guy, a lot of work, but he grades easy. He is really funny. Be prepared to do a presentation. Overall good guy, nice guy, fair guy. My midterm and Final were OPEN BOOK! Write all your notes in the book. He will tell you to do that.

Excellent teacher. He really is a stockpile of information and ties a whole realm of things into his teaching, he made me want to learn which is increadible I would deffinately reccomend him you will not be dissapointed.

Dr G is a very fair teacher. He may seem a little rough around the edges, but he has a great respect for those who put forth any kind of effort. Go to class, he gives so many extra points for good attendance. He also gives you the questions for the tests in the weeks prior to taking them. This helps ENORMOUSLY, another reason to never miss class.

Dr. Gosine is one of the best professors at Suffolk. He is humorous, and kind, but serious. If you are not a serious college student dont take his course. The people that complain are not serious about their education. Come to class, do your work, be respectful and you will get a good grade.

okay everyone needs to stop talking bad about the guy he is a nice guy i got B+ in the class and i wasn't even trying he gives a midterm and final which he give u 35 out of 60 questions that going to be on the tests and his paper is one of the most easy paper i writen and got a A on it...he gives all his student a chance to pass with A and B

Dr. Gosine is an extremely experienced and intelligent FULL-professor who will give you more knowledgeable information than most of your other professors combined. The man has two doctorates in sociology and anthropology.

Very fair and interesting

Very fair, 8 page term paper on his book is required but if u hand in 8 pages or more he will give u a B+ or better on it.. strict attendance, gives u 35 questions out of 50 for both the midterm and final.. easy class to get an A in, take advantage of the extra-credit seminar, it will boost you a whole letter grade. Highly recommended prof.

Dr. Gosine is an awesome professor. His lectures are very good; as long as you take notes, study, and come to class, you will do great. He's a fair grader and gives his students plenty of opportunities to succeed in his class. Anyone who complains about Dr. G obviously came into his classroom thinking they could do nothing and pass. Really intelligent guy! I took his Cultural Anthropology class in the summer and overall it was a good experience. He's a stickler for attendance and often talks off topic but do what he say and you'll get a good grade. He's a little pompous and he's got quite sense of humor so stay on his good side and you'll see he's really a nice guy.

Gosine is THE MAN, period. He is hilarious and makes class fun. Class is comprised of a Midterm, Final, and Paper, and her will give you questions with the answers for both the midterm and final, in fact he gives you like 40/50 of the questions that will be on the test. Doctor Gosine is absolutely amazing. There's a reason his classes fill up so quickly every semester, and assuming you take class seriously you will probably love him. If/when you have issues with the class, talk to him during office hours. He makes himself very available for anyone who demonstrates the desire to learn.

Gosine is a cool guy. He can come across as being arrogant, but all PhD's come across like that. If you pay attention you'll be in good shape. He's a very easy grader- you can get a 68 on the first test and still get an A. He's actually a very funny guy, and if you can make him laugh he'll love you. To the person who doesnt like GOSINE'S teaching style- get over it, your not in highschool anymore, its a lecture class, you are suppose to take your own notes and i was in that class and i felt he was VERY clear on what he wanted on the final, portfolio, presentation and midterm so you just need to grow up.

He is a smart man and can be nice, but his arrogance is astounding. He makes you buy his book, requires you to attend his common-hour seminar (instead of going to one you want to, which is what its intended for) and gives you quiz questions about his life achievements. He doesn't teach about sociology at all, but teaches his opinions. Avoid.

A funny Teacher but the 10-12 paged paper is no joke and not fun!

Dr. G is my all time favorite college professor. Even after I have moved on from SCCC. He values & acknowledges his hard working students, so If you intend to BS your way through college you will struggle in his class. If you attend, participate and seem interested, his course is an Easy A. I didn't do so well on my midterm and still pulled an A.

I had Dr G about 12 years ago for a classcalled Sports and Society and he is the greatest Professor ever! I took him for two different classes cause he is that good.

I had him last year; he gave me an A. He's sorta self absorbed, but he's very wise and is clear with what he wants from you. A good sense of humour. I enjoyed his class. The paper wasn't too challenging; you literally rate a book that he wrote. The only reason it was 12 pages was because the format he wanted it in.

Smart professor, again always be prepared for his class. I was never tired to listen to him. I was always asking questions to pick some of his brain. The man is beyond intelligent. Take home exams were hard! You had to take good notes. Thank you Dr. G

I took Professor Gosine for an honors class and he's awesome. All he requests out of his students is a 12-page book review, and to take a midterm and final. It's extremely easy to get an A if you're a good student and care about your work.

I just finished his summer class. Not going to lie, but it was intense but well worth it. All you have to do is read his book and write an easy 12 pg paper. Sounds crazy? Funny guy, He will easily embarrass you if he want to. He has very interesting knowledge knows a lot gives two exams not very easy but not terrible hard. Go to his class you will fail if you don’t. Also you will have a 10 page essay so be prepared for that, his book is a little boring but is readable. I recommend him.

Very knowledgable man. Don't use your phone and show up to class and he'll like you. The midterm and final were a bit difficult but he gave us 20-25/50 MC questions beforehand. Had an extra credit 3 page paper where you had to show up to a lecture. There's a 10 page paper on a book he wrote, and you need the textbook. Final is not cumulative

I honestly really enjoyed his course. Although textbook use is minimal-none, hecovers everything you need toknow in class. Take very thorough notes if you can. I used my mac everyday and typed my notes and I caught just about everything. There is a grading curve at the end of the semester if you were present every day. Just do the one extra credit.

DO NOT BE LATE, NO CELL PHONES, AND COME TO CLASS! That's all he asks for. He is an amazing teacher. You must take a lot of notes which are all on his test. You have a 12 page paper on his book (Its not as bad as you think) and He gives you the questions to the test (midterm and final) Very funny and the wisest man I know!

This professor is incredibly intelligent, its clear he knows a lot about everything. He is strict with attendance and cell phones, and he emphasizes the need for you to respect him, and he respects you back. He gives a lot of work, but he has a lot of knowledge to share.

Doctor Gosine is a great professor. He makes that three hour sociology class go by in a snap of a finger. He cracks jokes to pass the time, but has a strong emphasis on work and completing it. Gosine is a hard-ass when it comes to work and wiseguys. Always do your work and don't be a wiseguy.

Dr. Gosine is a very knowledgeable man. He made Sociology interesting. 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 paper (12 pgs, sounds hard but it's basically summarizing 15 chapters of his book and 5 short answers) 1 extra credit (optional) which I suggest doing. Be respectful, DO NOT be on your phone, make sure and take his notes or you will fail; it's that simple.

Dr Gosine is a wonderful teacher. This is a lecture course so you are expected to read the text, if you ask for the help he will give it to you. The tests are a little difficult. Doesn't go online. No review sheets or handouts. 1 extra credit at specific time & date, so many couldn't go. Be respectful. Strict attendance and phone policy.

Participation is key in this class. Lectures are interesting but he does go off subject often. There isn't homework throughout the semester. You have a presentation you must give (Be sure to be specific in your subject and speak about pros and cons), midterm and final require tons of writing, and very long portfolio. Fun class but you must work.

Professor Gosine was the best! He explains the material well. There's only 1 paper and 2 tests, a midterm and final. He gives the class questions directly from the test and sometimes he gave us the answer. He doesn't give any other type of work other than reading the textbook.

its a very easy class as long as you attend. he's very easy and funny. if you respect him he will respect you. he gives a 15 minute presentation, midterm, and a final.. he doesn't give any homework

He gave us an entire semesters worth of work in a small 3 week Winter sess. Midterm, Final, 10 page paper, 15 minute presentation, and a 30 page write-up. Gosine attended Fordham U, which I went on to attend. Fair warning, if you cannot get at least a B+ in his class, you have no business going to a top school like Fordham. The work load is 3x.

Lectures are very interesting! Goes off subject a lot, but usually to do with politics. Worst thing you can do is have your cell phone out. Give a 10-12 paper, but book is interesting, and gives plenty of time. This is most of your grade. Mid term and final he literally gives you the questions before and tells you to find the answers. As a disabled student, I found him to be very cooperative and accommodating, but he does expect you to be involved during the semester, there is a 12 page paper due towards the end of the semester, but overall he is a great and funny teacher you wont get bored in his class, he does sometimes go off topic but still informative.

He's such a great professor!!! I took sociology in replacement of a class because I was hoping it was going to open up (It never did) and to be completely honest, I'm glad it didn't. At first I thought he was great. Then I hated him. Then I thought he was ok again. A LOT of work: 2-5 page papers. A 30 page portfolio. Two multiple choice tests. He's retiring soon. I would suggest taking him be he goes. Although I would not take him again, to arrogant 4 me. I did, however, learn a ton about the Caribbean. Great class.

100% all about attendance. Make sure you show up and do your work. Simple as that. Only two exams for the semester; both of which he tells you about half of the questions verbatim from the test itself in the weeks leading up to the exam. Write your term paper, make flashcards to study, show up and you'll be fine. He's an overall decent professor.

He gives an assignment on a 12 page paper for you to write which is on a book you have to get. He gives a midterm & a final. Not bad, but just make sure you do that paper and on time, dont leave it for the last minute. He reviews a few questions thatll be on the test. You also take a lot of notes, he tends to ramble off but has good life lessons.

Professor G was great, had him spring 2019. Warning there is a 10 pg paper that is due before spring break, if you stay on top of it youll do fine. There is also extra credit to move your grade up a whole grade. Prof G is very straightforward, and doesnt like you missing class. I would def take his class again. Dont be lazy.

Prof Gosine is my favorite professor at Suffolk. He is the sweetest man, hilarious & makes it clear that as long as you do the 3 assignments, he will make sure you get a very good grade. Dr Gosine is one of those professors you dont exoect to find at a community college. He is a John Hopkins and Ivy league instructor. Take any course he teaches I also reco caribbean cultures if available. He is super engaged and his lectures will stay with you your entire life. You can absolutely get a great education at SCCC with profs like him.
