She is an awesome teacher, try to get into her class if you can. My favorite teacher by far and she loves pop culture and weird topics.

She's a great teacher. I learned more from her than my 10002 teacher. You have to earn your grade but she is willing to help you as much as possible.

Prof Mechenbier was the best english teacher ever! I learned more in her class than I did in 4 YEARS of high school! TRY to get in the class, MAKE SURE to go to her for help!! SHe's very nice and helpful!!! Great class!!

Just do what she asks and don't cheat. . . not a hard teacher to get along with if you go to class, ask questions, and don't use the same words over and over in your papers. But if you are planning to skip class and think that 10001 can be blown off, you shouldn't take her class

didnt have her at kent but had her back home, she is an outstanding teacher interested in her students, and tries to help them as much as possible, i love her stories that she brings to class that have nothing to do with the class and the bag of nuts is hilarious

I had Prof Mechenbier for eng 1 At first i HATED her with the passion of a thousand burning suns after doing horrible on my first paper, i went to her and asked for help, she LITERALLY went through ALL my papers and made corrections. I wound up with an A! GO TO HER FOR HELP! TRUST me it will be amazing to you how much your grade improves!

Professor Mechenbier is the best english teacher I have ever had! If you don't understand something, go to talk with her, she will explain your mistakes to you. I would take this class again just to hear her stories! She is very funny! Remember pick interesting topics!!! Nobody likes to read boring****. STAY IN MAHLI's CLASS!!!

EXTREMELY STRICT, if you don't mind someone who enforces their rules without giving a single break then she's a great teacher. otherwise, change prof. overall, very clear and helpful, willing to take questions during and after class and make apt to review your papers. Grades on grammar mostly, and a little on your essays content.

For the first time in my life, i can say i was able to wake up easily realy early in the morning and her class was my favorite by far! If you have the opportunity to take her classs it is a must!

WOW. Talk about an MLA nazi! Shes really open about allll issues so shes fun IN class but the papers are graded VERY harshly.

Very difficult class. She's and MLA NAZI but does teach you a TON about writing and is always ready to help. Make sure u enter the class ready to work and with an open mind, the class discussions get crazy sometimes.

Shes crazy, interesting, and hot. I've always hated english classes all my life but I can honestly say that the two classesIve taken from her were in my favorites. This chick's a psycho MLA nazi but she can teach.

I was intimidated by the foreign name and had no clue what to expect going into her class for the first time. Although she does get a kick out of how many people she can scare out of her class, anyone has the ability to get the grade that they want. You go to college to actually try new things. If your a slacker you'll get the grade you deserve!

She was awsome. She makes you work and she makes you learn, but you come out of her class knowing how to write. If you want an easy A, don't take her class. If you want good writing skills, sign up for her.

Best prof ever.

Awesome professor, best I've had in two years here at Kent State! Love going to class because she makes it interesting and love talking about sports with her!!!

The rumors are true--she is a challenging professor. But if you put forth the effort to read before class, ask for help, and utilize her office hours work fix your essays, then you'll see she's not as mean as many people say. Or you can take someone else and be deprived of a great learning expereince.

Phenomenal prof. The work load is demanding, but not overly so. She is eager to help those who strive to succeed.

Face it, this is not meant to be an easy class. But if you read and know how to use a thesauras, then you'll pass. For crying out loud, read the textbook--she gives out quizzes and if you fail, well don't expect any help if you're teetering between grades. Some say she's mean, well that's for you to judge--take the class.

An awesome prof. Prof. M was a pleasure to take both in English and Expository. She is extremely difficult--believe the hype. However, I would take her again in a second; she has greatly improved my english and grammer skills which will help me throughout my career as a future sports broadcaster. Class is cool and it is always fun to talk sports!

She was the best teacher I've ever had. I came into college not knowing what I wanted and she set me in the right direction; she even helped me get a job at the writing center! I left Kent State and still think about how much she has helped my writing. Definitely a challenge, but i'm so grateful for it.

Tough grader, but if you go to see her it will do wonders for your grade. She was very intimidating the first day of class but if you stick with it the class will be one of your favorites you take at kent.

She is very intimidating the first week of class, but i can say that she is an amazing teacher and i love her class. She gives you plenty of time to complete essays. You will watch a lot of movies and tv shows such as south park and crash. All of the reading is for the first half of the semester so you are done in like April. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.

She is way too hard for college writing I. This is a lower level introduction required English class and she treats it like we're all English majors in an advanced class. I feel ripped off after this class and I can't believe I payed for it. I retook this class over the summer with a different prof. and I got an A-.

One of the greatest teachers I have ever had in my life! People who dislike her seem to be the ones who don't succeed in her class. She's a tough grader, but if you pay attention and work hard, you'll succeed! Will most definately be taking one of her classes again! Truly enjoyed her as a prof!

Fantastic professor. Hilarious and serious at the same time. The conversations and topics kept class interesting(were also up to date/modern). Actually looked forward to class. Was difficult, but it'll definitely help in the future. Very helpful, straight-forward and clear. A few bonus opportunities. If the class wasn't booked, I'd take her CWII.

Prof. Mechenbier is a awesome teacher. Sometimes she can be harsh or mean but only if you don't follow the rules. Her requirements are CRYSTAL clear and if you put a bit of effort into it you will do fine. However don't expect an easy A. If you want that you REALLY have to WORK for it. If you plan on slacking off you had better choose someone else.

This is the hardest teacher I have ever had but at the same time she pushes you to become the best writer possible. If you want a challenge and GPA killer take her. If your looking for an easy A keep searching.

I had her for College Writing 2 and she is by far one of my favorite professors! She accepts no excuses - the class expectations are clearly laid out in the sylabus. She's a professional(who is also young and relates to her students)and expects you to be the same. She will push you to improve your craft and still makes it all fun and enjoyable.

Though Prof Mechenbier was a very hard professor to please, she was very helpful, organized, and attentive. If you are not willing to work hard, you will not get a good grade. She does NOT just hand out A's. However, I thought she was a very effective professor, and I learned a lot from her. I am happy I took her class.

Had her for college writing 1. Failed first essay, passed with a B+ very helpful and available. Ask for help and she will tell you what to do. Strict but easy to get along with. Easily the hottest teacher I had in all of college.

I attended KSU from 2004-2008 and took her for two classes. I think it should prove something to you ALL that it's now 2013 and I can still remember her. She's the best teacher I've ever had. She also introduced me to the Writing Center my sophomore year, where I stayed until I graduated. She's not tough if you challenge yourself and actually TRY.

Even though there was a lot of work in this class. Ms M, gives you all the tools in the beginning of the course to become successful in her class. The instructor was very helpful. She is easy to get a hold of outside of the classroom. You can not help engaging in class room discussions due to her high level of energy. Excellent instructor

Dr. Mechenbier is THE BEST professor I have EVER had. Please ignore the negative reviews on this site because she is phenomenal. You will learn SO MUCH from her. Her criticism and critiques on my papers helped me tremendously throughout my writing intensive major. Get ready to work hard. It will be 100% worth it. Go to her office hours!

Even though the class is arduous and is a high level of difficulty when taking Professor Mechenbier, I have learned a great deal from taking her. She has helped my writing immensely and is willing to help outside of class during her office hours if you show effort towards your papers.

How to do well in this class: Do the assignment and post it on the discussion board a few days before it's due. Make the corrections the professor suggests on your AND other student's work. Post another draft. Repeat until she says it's good, or it's time to turn it in. Comment on other student's work on occasion too. Have good grammar.

Don't be scared to take her based on all the negative reviews! Her requirements and due dates are laid out clear in the syllabus, but you have to work hard in order to pass. She's more than willing to help if needed. I learned so much throughout the course and I'm taking her for English 21011.

I took Professor Mechenbier my freshmen year. She was really intimidating at first but she is a great professor. Whenever she assigns an essay it is VITAL that you make an appointment to see her during office hours because she will help you a lot. She's hilarious and really cares about her students success in life.

The first week she seems intimidating to get people to write their papers. She is very bright and cheery and you definitely won't be falling asleep in this class. If you want a good grade make an appointments with her, which most people don't. She literally helps correct your paper before she grades it, take advantage of it and it becomes so easy.

There has never been a class I have gotten more out of and that I've had to work harder at than with Mechenbier. I think I legitimately must have lived and breathed that class for an entire semester and scraped by with a B- in the end. Incredibly intelligent and helpful professor but I honestly wouldn't recommended. Ridiculous amount of work.

I am currently taking College Writing II with Prof. M and also had her for College Writing I. She is an amazing teacher & definitely will push you to the best of your abilities. Don't be intimidated by her! She is willing to help as much as she can. Schedule office hours!! If you aren't looking for a class that will test you, look for another prof.

I honestly loved Prof. M! I'm a CCP student and took her class the summer before my junior year, she completely changed the way I approach writing and drastically improved my skills. She's absolutely a tough grader and you really have to put forth effort (i.e. schedule office hours!!) in order to do well, but she truly cares about her students.

Mechenbier is a brutal grader, so don't take this class unless you are willing to put in the effort. There is no reason you cannot get a passing grade in this course if you attend workshops and follow her guidelines carefully. Her technical writing course inspired me to pursue a minor in this field and fostered my love of writing. Great professor.

I can see why students would feel intimidated, but professor M is actually really sweet. To pass the class, you NEED to meet with her during office hours. If you don't want to meet privately, do not bother taking her class. The people giving bad ratings, are uptight and obviously didn't meet with her. She helps correct your paper to her standards.

Prof. Mechenbier, is harsh, but surely made my writing go from 0 to 100. Highly recommend visiting office hours (she likes you more when you do). Don't take if you can't handle very blunt criticism. If you are a CCP student considering on campus vs your high school take her. It is more work but you will benefit so much more in the long run.

Prof Mechenbier is an amazing professor, and I honestly don't know why she has negative reviews. If you truly apply yourself, take her feedback, and participate in the class, there is no reason you shouldn't pass. Prof Mechenbier does not "baby" you, she will give criticism--that is what makes your writing and editing skills better.
