Lab reports can be extensive, but nothing challenging about them. Very fair, and goes step by step through calculation processes.

Great Class. Highly recommend. If you pay attention to directions and do your work (DO NOT COPY, DO NOT CHEAT), you are guranteed an A. Labs were easy and fun. The tests were even easier if you paid attention in lab.

Great class. I actually enjoyed going to this class. Labs were fun, and tests were easy as long as you did the lab. Dr. Tsoi is fabulous and loves to teach. Super helpful, but hates when people copy others' work. Don't forget goggles. She charges $1 to borrow some. Show up, pay attention, and you'll get an A.

This teacher is an extremely enthusiastic person about the subject she teaches;I like her energy, her witty analogies an her willingness to help out her students. The only thing I want her to stop is to stop telling her students when the answers are wrong on a quiz before turning in the quiz. This does not help the students remember material well.

She is awsome and is always willing to help! You will not regret taking her, especially if you want an interesting class! If you are boring and don't like jokes or to laugh don't take her. SHE IS GREAT!!!!

Organic Chemistry is not meant to be easy, and no matter the teacher you have to read prior to class, do hw problems after, and take some personal responsibility. That said, Dr. Tsoi rocks! Took this class three times. The material never made any sense until I took Dr. Tsoi's class. She actually teaches the material, unlike many professors who expect you to teach yourself. This is a difficult class covering difficult material made easy by a good professor. If you pay attention in lecture and take decent notes you should be fine.

Dr. Tsoi is amazing. Getting into her class is a struggle because its always filled but sitting and agonizing at the screen for an empty spot is worth it. The concepts aren't particularly hard but when it comes to the final you will see its a lot but she prepares you. She makes everything so easy to understand and shes also very humorous.

Absolutely one of the best professors at GGC! She understands how to break down concepts in a way students would be able to comprehend! I enjoyed every second of her class! Do the work and you will receive an A!

This was my third time taking ochem2 and she was by far the best teacher ever! Even under time pressure (1 month course), she managed to teach us to understand the concepts and mechanism instead of just memorizations and I ended up earning a solid A. I took summer ochem 2 with Tsoi. She is not easy, you need to study hard to do well in her class, but she does provides great hints/tips for memorizing the mechanisms, synthesis, etc. She's the best teacher I have ever had since kindergarten! She is very motivating and cares if you are learning. GO TEAM TSOI!

Tsoi is a decent professor for ORGO. Be prepare to read and do problems before class so you won't be lost. Quizzes are not easy, but not super hard. She isn't sympathetic if you work and go to school full-time. She say bc it is our choice to work while in school, we should not complain at anything. Dr. Tsoi is by far the best Professor I've ever had. She has given multiple opportunities for extra credit. She also splits her tests so that they are not long and fairly decent. As long as you pay attention in lecture you'll be just fine. Also she gives small 1 question quizzes here or there. Trust me it's hard to have under a B in the class.

Dr. Tsoi is a wonderful teacher all around. I did not have a chance to take Chem 1212 and she let me sit in her class! I got to learn all the materials and take notes and I am going to take her next semester, she was so interested and explained things so well that I loved being in her class even though it was not mandatory for me!

She was a great professor when it comes to only teaching you exactly what you need to pass her tests. She has a very creative teaching style, and helps the information stick in your brain. There is weekly online homework to do. Her lab reports are super easy and simple. She is a little spastic, so her being all over the place might make u nervous.

Probably the best professor i've had at ggc. She makes everything interesting and so easy to learn. I was so scared to take this class and especially during summer but she made it a breeze! Dr. Tsoi is an awesome teacher. Take her if you have the chance. Great personality and cares very much about your success in the class. You have to pass 6 essential quizzes taken throughout the semester and 9 of the 15 general quizzes to pass the class with a C, 10-12 for a B, and 13 to 15 for an A. Do your part and you will pass the class.

Dr. T is one of a kind! New grading format. "All or nothing" No partial credit. Must pass ALL 6 EO & at least 9 GO's. If you pass 15 GO's and fail the final you can still get an A in the class. Her lectures are amazing uses props to get her point across. TAKE HER, Earn tokens to re-take failed EO/GO's, Communicate with her, participate in class!

Coming from someone who took CHEM 1211K with her over the summer, she is phenomenal. Must pass 6 EO quizzes and at least 9 GO quizzes (15 total GOs) Quizzes are all or nothing but Dr. Tsoi does a great job explaining the content. Various opportunities to earn extra GO credit credit. Majority of, if not all, quizzes are free response.

only 1 final and 21 quizzes, all or nothing, as previous ppl said! Dr Tsoi is very caring and truly wants you to pass so if you fail any quizzes, reach out to her, take advantage of "token" opportunities that you can use to retake the quizzes, STUDY, and you WILL make an A. take her and you won't regret it. she's amazing, funny & one of a kind!

The EO/GO system that Dr. Tsoi uses requires that you pass (with a 4/5 or higher) six quizzes- to even have a shot at passing the class. The other quizzes will, when passed, increase your grade. Clear as day. You have chances to retake these quizzes, so don't sweat if you don't pass the first go. Dr. Tsoi is 1000% willing to help you pass them!

Great teacher, has good tricks to memorize certain material. Lectures are not long enough. Her EO's and GO's system is horrible IF you can't balance prereading a chapter or two before class, learning new material from lecture and getting perfect score on quizzes (THERE'S NO PARTIAL CREDIT). Expect 2-3 quizzes a week. DO NOT wait to make them up.

Professor Tsoi is an incredible professor to the point that I would look forward to her lectures. She comes up with the craziest ways to remember a concept. The course isn't hard but it is a lot to learn so be prepared to read a section before class and practice afterwards. You cannot afford to slack and then complain about your grade!

Dr. Tsoi is an amazing professor in every sense of the word. She's extremely caring and wanted to make sure as many people passed the class as possible. Not to say it wasn't difficult, because it was.... but I'd never felt more confident entering into the next level of a class (Chem 1212k). Easy to contact out of class too, excellent personality.

I've never done one of these before, but I feel strongly enough about Dr. Tsoi to attest to her greatness. Don't read the negative comments, those students either didn't dedicate time to study/retake quizzes, or cheated. Yes, she is a tough grader, but the quizzes can be retaken many times until you pass! It really, truly prepares you for Orgo 2.

Professor Tsoi was an amazing teacher. Organic chemistry is a tough class but she breaks it down so well for you to understand. You do have to work for your A. Its not an easy A but this is college . You are expected to work. She will bend over backwards for you if you simply put in the effort .

Dr. Tsoi is hands down one of the best chem professors. Her quizzes are easy if you study her notes and do a few practice problems (just study for 15-20 minutes and it's easy). She's super helpful and she'll clear her schedule for you. She makes learning fun and you'll actually understand chem. I highly recommend taking her.

Dr. Tsoi is amazing. Shes a funny, kind and VERY energetic. I had her at 8am and she always was upbeat although she can be late...a lot. Grading criteria is very clear cut. No tests but a bunch of 5 question quizzes. YOU CAN RETAKE THEM AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT! You always know your grade because you know what work you have done. Take her. Do it.

She really goes out of the way to make sure you do well in the class. I've personally seen how hard she works and felt compelled to write the review. So long as you do your share you will do fine. One of the best professors I had to pleasure to experience.

Professor Tsoi is the absolute best Organic Chemistry teacher. She ROCKS. You WILL have to study at home! (This is orgo.) But as long as you do the work, studying, and take good notes. You will do well! I would recommend this teacher to everyone! She believes in second chances and DOES do SPECs grading. But she is so good that it is hard to fail.

This class is SPECs grading. It alot of work, but it's worth it. Dr. Tsoi is an excellent professor. She tutors and works with you outside of class. Organic chemistry is easier of her funny commentary to remember mechanisms and chemical synthesis. Dr. Tsoi worked with me so I could achieve the grade I wanted. I appreciate her. ��

Dr. Tsoi is really good! She has great analogies to understanding organic chemistry and she does SPECS grading. Since a lot of people try to retake quizzes at the end of the semester, people try blaming Dr. Tsoi for this which really isn't her fault. Make sure to retake quizzes earlier when you fail it the first time rather than wait in the end.

Awesome teacher! She is kind and she does SPECS grading so this might not be for everyone so if you don't like small quizzes that you can CONSTANTLY retake after taking it once, take another teacher that doesn't do SPECS. Personally liked this class because of how open she is. If you take the time to talk with her and WORK HARD you'll be fine

Dr. Tsoi is my favorite professor at GGC so far. She is EXTREMELY willing to help in/out of class:offered multiple times to multiple students to meet with her outside of class for review. In class is lecture and she perfectly describes every topic and answers all questions in detail until you understand. Does curse some but more funny than anything

The class itself is not an easy A (we used ALEKS instead of a typical textbook + test structure), but shes willing to work with you if you put in the effort. Will definitely take her again.

She uses Aleks throughout the semester and that is what most of your grade consists of. Do the objectives on time, take the knowledge checks, and complete all of the lab assignments and you will get an A. I took her for both of my chemistry classes and the only difference between Chem 1 and 2 was that in Chem 2 we took GOs(quizzes) every week.

Doctor Tsoi has been one of my favorite professors by far. She is very funny and makes class fun. If you dont understand material in her class she does everything she can inside and outside of class to help. I would definitely take her again

Her chemistry 1211 class might be the reason I'm still a science major, she made chemistry fun in a way few can, she's very funny, knowledgably and shines a joyous spirit that makes you want to participate. If you're majoring in Chemistry and want to be challenged then I would say pick another professor. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Mai Yin Tsoi isn't a person who will challenge you but I will say if you do your work you can easily get an A. She's awesome! makes tons of jokes even if they're not funny but she'll make sure you enjoy her class!!!

I'm not a chemistry person at all, but really professor Tsoi is the best, she makes the class so easy and enjoyable, she cares a lot about her students, she gives so many opportunities to make up things, overall it is an easy A.

She is very caring and is willing to work with all of her students. She does not judge. She understands that students can have difficulties and have things other than just class to worry about. All you need to do is following the shedule. There is no need to read because she explained the lecture in a simple way.

Dr. Tsoi is a great professor, she really wants to see all her students succeed and if you put in the work, you will get a good grade in her class. Its mostly just Aleks work. Shes very lenient and understanding, so I recommend that you take her if you have the chance.

Dr. Tsoi is hands down one of the best Professors I have ever had. She is so great at her job and loves what she does. She calls her class team Tsoi because she believes working together will get the job done better. I had a blast in her class and wish I could stay at GGC just to have her as my professor again. Take her class!! You wont regret it!

Dr Tsoi is an amazing chemistry professor here and I recommend her especially to CHEM 1 students! She is such a lovely person and will actually take the time to explain material you may not understand. We used a program called ALEKS and the work CAN stack up if you are not on your stuff, she also takes cheating VERY seriously. But no quizzes & test
