VERY down to earth. Willing to help, all you have to do are your essays and read. NEVER had homework besides those two. Got out early many times. Very good teacher, very nice. Explains well and helps you to learn about literature. Good sense of humor! A+!

Really nice teacher. Sort of hard on grading essays, but it's english, you gotta be. Actual lessons are always short so i don't think I've ever had to stay the whole class period.

I took Barlow for both 1101 and 1102. I loath english but she presents it in a way that it almost seems fun. I would have rated her 'ease' a 5 but she does grade heavily on grammer, then again it is ENGLISH. Definately a good teacher.

Very nice and helpful. I didn't have any troubles in her class. Barely any other assignments than the essays. Class always got out early. My papers did come back reaking of cig smoke, though. Recommended.

The class was pretty easy, and she always let us out early. The Out-of-Class essays were easy if you manage your time, but she is hard on the in-class essays. About the homework...you could do it in the first 5 min of class if your forget.

Ms. Barlow' class is easy. She is very helpful with writing essay's and she tells you exactly what she wants and how she wants u to do it. Its hard to fail her class because she tells u everything all u have to do is apply yourself.

Nice lady, needs to lay back on the grading because she was so critical. She did tell us what the essay should be about, but did not help anyone on mechanics. I'm coming out of this class writing the same way before I got in. If you dont like wasting paper then dont take her, far too many handouts.

This class rocks...we watch like 6 movies, then talk about them. The tests are easy if you take notes. Prof. Barlow is cool and fun. I really like this class.

this isn't a hard class but make sure you do all of her assignments. she can be pretty funny so it keeps you interested and plus she lets you out like 30 mins every day. i recommend taking her. i'm taking her again for comp II

Mrs. Barlow is a really great teacher, all you need to do is do the study guides, show up to class and do well on the test and you can breeze by.

Only had 4 out of class essays: 2 personal essays, a research paper, and a resume, cover letter, and business letter for last essay. 3 in-class essays which were semi-personal too. Only 1 quiz. Very nice teacher. Laughs alot and makes almost every aspect of class interesting. She's very good at what she does and is excellent at analyzing and interpreting various literary works from poems to movies to music lyrics.Used the "smart classroom" to her advantage facilitating the learning process. Thoroughly enjoyed the class. Professor Barlow is a tough grader but you can sense the passion for the class as she teaches. This is a mandatory class and she made it extremely fun. Homework is tough for non writers (like me) but I made it with flying colors... Proofread, Proofread, Proofread she will catch everything.

Pretty easy. You will need to work a little at this class, unless writing comes naturally. Makes class pretty interesting, will proofread all your essays for you before you turn them in! Lets you out of class early and minimal amount of homework, just the essays. SIMPLE.

She is extremely dull. Knowledgeable, but dull. All she teaches is grammar, and it's so hard to stay awake in class because she drones. She is SO STUBBORN I will NEVER take her again. I had an A and at the end of the year I forgot to put quotation marts around a passage in my research paper and she dropped me a whole letter grade. Horrible.

She is a good professor for the most part. She preaches grammar and is clearly passionate about what she does. There are 5 papers for the term plus quizes. She lets you know well in advance but is vague with her grading. Easy class for the most part.

Ms. Barlow is an average teacher. Very hard to get an A. If there is a rule in English you'd better follow it. This is the only B I have ever received and I tried hard to keep the A. Everytime I went for extra help (after class) she seemed annoyed. Good luck if you take her! I chose another teacher for ENC II.

Prof. Barlow is very clear when she gives out her assignments. If you follow directions you will make an A or B. Will I take her again? No. There are 4 out of class essays and 4 in-class essays (the fourth IC is the final exam). Advice: Don't procrastinate on essays because if you finish before the deadline you can her ask her proofread your work.

This was my favorite class this semester. Loved the movie choices. 2 tests or 3 counting the final all from the study guides provided. So do the study guides for homework! There is also a film analysis at the end of the course. Interesting discussions that really open your eyes. If you enjoy watching movies take this course you won't regret it.

She is ok but she is a very hard grader and we do a lot of essays. So if your not a good writer she might not be the teacher for you.

I've taken Prof Barlow for ENC1101 and ENC1102. ENC1101 was pretty easy, a fair amount of homework but it was all really easy, the class was a bit boring but ok. ENC1102 was less homework, and a lot more interesting, we work with a lot of music and watch a few films, its fun, shes very interesting. There are also a lot fewer essays than with other

She is amazing, easily the best class I've had all semester. Study guides come straight from the book, and the tests come straight from the study guides and in class discussions. Seriously amazing!

Very enjoyable, good overall teacher.

She is a fun teacher and you enjoy the class. English 2 you have a short story quiz the first 5 min of class and get a 0 if you are late for it. Do not get material from the internet and copy it on your paper. She has a program that will catch this. She grades tough on papers so always proof read. She was a good teacher though.

She grades very forcefully! Being horrible at english is an extreme downside in this class especially. I'm still working on my English and she still knows that but still she grades forcefully.

Very tough grader on essays, if you do them the night before you will not get anything higher than a low B. Gives reading assignments with quizzes the next day for the first half of the semester. there are easier enc 1102 professors out there so do not pick her unless you have to

Great Professor!She is a tough grader on papers so make sure you put in a lot of effort! Don't arrive late or you miss the quiz... She has a love for literature and it seems to rub off on her students. Do the work and you will enjoy her class!

BEST english teacher ive ever had! i hate english. she made it fun& explained everything & answered all questions. she grades essays a LITTLE bit hard but only takes off points for things she has been over. she's quirky and funny, also lets you rewrite one of your essays, & turn one in late. little reading, easy homework i did 5 mins before class

One of the best teachers I have ever had. She is very funny, and passionate about what she teaches. There is a quiz for every short story(10 I think) but the quizzes really short and easy. 5 essays including the final exam and 1 poem.

Honestly the best professor I have had so far. She is funny, very smart, and extremely nice! She is not hard at all and all her assignments are very easy. Ms. Barlow has got to be one of the best professors I have ever had. She responds to her emails extremely fast and also gives great feedback on your essays. She barely gave homework, but the textbook is a MUST since you need it for her in-class essays. She doesn't give A's very easily so you have to work for it. The downside is her breath stinks.

Gives a-LOT of extra credit. Her office is always open if you need help, she always answers questions in class as well. There is homework about every class, but they are little workbook stuff. Really easy class if you just do work and do it on time, show up to class the majority and you will get an easy A. Hardest things were In-class essays

Was surprised by the amount of organization and clarity I found with this professor. She always gave out sample essays that correlated with the essay assignment she assigned, gave you a paper of exactly what she wanted, and the work was broken down by time so everything was manageable. I learned more in one semester than my years in high school.

Professor Barlow is awesome! You definitely have to do the work if you want to pass, but she couldn't be more clear on what she expects. Lots of in-class work geared to helping you pass. Professor Barlow has been the best ENC professor ive ever had. She makes you work for the grade, but her door is always open if you need help, shes there for you and cares about your grade. Shes a tough grader, meaning you essays have to be amazing because she will take points off, but she tells you the first day of school.

Barlow was an amazing english teacher that taught me real world grammar. she's an older woman but that doesn't stop her. she's a very, very hard grader on essays & there's something due nearly every class. she's always available for feedback too. the highest essay grade i ever got was a B+. i would take her again if she fit my schedule!

I personally loved Professor Barlow! She was very straightforward with what she expected on each assignment and walked us through everything step by step. There was homework due every class and 4 out of class essays and 4 in class. I really enjoyed taking her class and felt as though I grew a lot as a writer however, really makes you work for an A.

She is the sweetest! She is a tough grader but if you put in effort you should be fine.I never received less than a B on a paper. She is VERY clear on what she expects and has a detailed outline for what she expects for every paper. There is a homework assignment for every class but they are super easy. There were 4 OC essays and 3 IC essays.

Put some effort and you'll pass! Out-of-class essays weigh the most, but you have a lot of time to perfect your essays. There are a few in-class essays which are graded more leniently. You have some opportunities to get more time on an essay, re-do it, etc. There's homework every class, but it's simple, straightforward, and usually takes 5-15 min.

She is pretty chill there's only a couple essays and in class she goes over articles and things to help you write your essays . She grades a little tough but it's manageable , her final is an easy essay , don't miss class on a in class essay day or else you have to take it in a testing center . Overall she isn't bad .

Easy B, makes you work for an A. However if you do put some mind and effort into it you will get one. She has clear criteria for all the papers you do (4 at-home, 3 in class), and the CW and HW you get which are pretty much every meeting are easy. She does really care about you and your grade. Great Professor! During class, she explains the topic of whatever it is 100% and answers all questions respectively. Grading essays are strict and by rubric so follow rubric and your straight. Quiz first 5 mins of class for, which are easy 5 questions. 4 Essays.

She was a good teacher however some of her grading was a bit tough. She was always there for feedback. The best thing about her class was she let you submit papers early and she would give you tips. Follow her tips and resubmit and you will get a good grade. Because of this, every paper I did I ended up with an A.

This is a writing class so get ready to write, there is 4 essays for the whole semester and little super easy homeworks. There are also resources to help with your writting, plus before submitting your essay she allows you to send her the draft for a revision and gives you feedbacks on it and what you change. super helpful, and couple late chances.

She is a wonderful teacher, the content was easy and I had about 3 assignments a week with a month to write each essay.

She's nice and her lectures are very engaging and easy to follow. She breaks down the stories we read (you will be a doing a fair amount of reading) and helps us understand it better. She IS a tough grader, but she will help you learn to write good essays. The essay topics aren't even difficult. I looked forward to her class!
