He is a good History teacher, and funny and I would highly recommend taking his course. This class is fairly easy to take but do not abuse it by missing a lot of class, he does grade for attendance. Always participate in class discussions, and be ready for quizzes, there are a lot. He will give out test reviews, and help when needed.

Loved this professor! Reviews of the exam, ARE THE EXAM! If you maintain an A average throughout the semester you are exempt from the final. Lectures are good and he engages with the class. Would recommend this professor to anybody. Have no idea how anybody could fail the class. Great teacher!

Prof. Frierson is a comedian so you already know this is going to be a fun class. Open book quizzes and easy test! Would definitely take him again.

One of the best professors I've ever had! This professor gives great lectures that you can actually stay awake to hear. He gives out reviews that are literally the test, and sometimes his pop quizzes are open book! I was actually interested in this subject because of him. I would take his class a hundred times.

He is a Great Prof. The easiest class i have ever taken! He literally gives you the test before you take it. Class participation is a big part of the grade, but he does make it fun. Left his class with a 99!

This has probably been the best experience I've had taking a history class. He literally used to be a stand-up comedian, so he's very funny and easy-going in his lectures. That said, he's not afraid to get real with his subject matter. Expect to learn and to think. He's a big fan of discussion and seriously encourages you to form your own opinions.

He is a great professor. Extremely helpful and funny. Go to every class, since he takes attendance seriously. Also, he gives the best reviews ever, the reviews are the same as the test. Make sure to be prepared for quizzes, since they're a big chunk of the final grade. Do not use your cell phone in class. Take him you won't regret it!

As long as you read the assigned chapters and show up prepared for class, you will so well. He expects people to participate, don't sit in the back of the class. His lectures are engaging and he has a great sense of humor. The guidelines for papers and projects are very clear so if you follow those you're guaranteed an A.

THE BEST and easy unfortunately i miss a couple of days in which he gave quizzes brought my grade down Otherwise i would of pass with an A he gives reviews for tests same exact questions

I normally HATE history. I did not learn ANYTHING in high school . However, this professor has made history into a legend and it was NOT pointless at ALL. He grades very fairly and he wants YOUR opinion on answers to questions. His gives you the reviews that are EXACTLY the same as the tests. His tests are NOT essay questions only multiple choice.

Dr. Malcolm Frierson is an amazing professor! He encourages discussions and expects everyone to participate. He is absolutely hilarious! Best story teller ever! I guarantee you will not be bored in his class. Easy A if you pay attention, read the book, and look up all of the questions that he gives you on the exam review. Would definitely reccomend

You don't like history and you're looking for a easy class to pass then take this Professor for both history courses. Super fun class, he's super funny and gives reviews for his tests so it's easier. He gives his students a chance to voice their thoughts in discussions, and tries his best to make it fun and interactive. 10/10.

Mr. Frierson is funny and blunt, he takes his job very seriously but acts like he's on vacation. As long as you show up and try you'll pass his class. And no phones in class, food and drink is permitted but frowned upon

He was a lot of fun! He does take attendance, so show up for class! His reviews are exactly like the test. Notes are on the powerpoint and book. His powerpoint are just the main point of the subject you have to read the book to understand. He does a lot of class participation. Always email him if you're going to miss.

I have never been a fan of History! Dates were always over-emphasized and quite boring. Dr. Frierson changed my opinion and I actually learned alot! He is engaging, funny, and passionate about his profession. You will not regret taking his class. I wish he taught Government as well :(

Took this class online during a Flex semester. Teacher is good and quickly responds to any questions you have. Class requires a lot of reading. If you read and do all the practice questions/tests with the book - you will do fine.

Amazing professor. Dr. Frierson is the best option. He is very objective and classes are very dynamic. He respects his class and rules are clear from the beginning. He will help you if you need him but get prepared. Don't ask stupid questions. Be ready to read everything. And never ever use your phone in class.

Dr. Frierson is one of my favorite professors. He is funny and leaves controversial topics open for discussion. It is really nice to have a history professor who tries to keep his opinion out of it and let you develop an opinion on your own.

He is very funny in class. He is the person who has passion with history. He always gives extra credits for you. He gave test reviews but it very tough. So you need a lots of reading for those.

If you hate history like me, but need the credit, this is for u. This class focuses on the art, culture, and entertainment aspects of history rather than warfare/boredom.I have gained a whole new perspective and appreciation for History thanks to him. It's almost impossible to fail like u have to actually try to fail. I wish I took 1301 w/him too.

Dr. Frierson is very knowledgeable and passionate on his subject and is very easy going. The class focuses on culture and society rather than war and politics which makes it that much more interesting. He is cut and dry on his grading and teaches exactly what you need to know for the exams. I wish I took him for 1301, HIGHLY recommend. Cool hair!

Very funny teacher, makes lectures fun and not dull like most history teachers. Very clear on everything that is expected - I did have some health issues and as long as documentation is provided he is nice about it! I already signed up for his 1302 course. His tests are JUST LIKE the reviews. No trickery! Show up and participate though.

Really good instructor! Would take him again but don't miss class bc he gives pop quizes and if you aren't there you can't make up unless valid reason (hence the C). Sends you exact test to study so it should be an easy A if you just review it. Pop quizes will kill your grade though (not too many grades so they weigh heavy). No extra credit fyi.

He is really interesting professor, so funny and knows to make history interesting subject. I just did not like that pop up quizzes but you need to be ready for every class to read what he said from book or notebook. You need to write down everything he say that is important. Exams are not hard.

Excellent teacher. Has a mastery of history. He apparently loves his work and it shows. He sets up facts for both sides of an argument and lets YOU decide for yourself. VERY WISE teacher. Answers questions. Makes you think outside the box. Watch out for pop quizzes though. Enjoy his class BUT pay attention. Study! Plays hard bc you will work hard.

super awesome time every class! he literally gave us the test for a review and we got to look up the answers in our books over the weekend. he is very active at the school, at least in spring and we didn't have class on several days. I was very eager to take history 1302 with him but he was going out of town and wasn't able to teach it.

Just passed class with the professor. Every week is quiz in the online. He will meet with you to show you wrong and right answers how to study. I would take him for both the history classes.

There's no need to buy a textbook since he offers a free U.S history one on ecampus so it's all good. Dr. Frierson was a hilarious and enjoyable, great professor. Pay attention in class, attend every class, and you will be fine. All our quizzes (some pop quizzes) were from our class notes, and every test we had was given to us beforehand, where we could answer the questions as a class. I learned a lot from him, and I recommend taking him in class.

Class is real easy, quizlet is your bestfriend on tests, and the only brain power you need is for discussion boards and they aren't hard at all. A lot of them are your opinion. Easy professor, just make sure everything is on time, no late work accepted.

His history class has 4 dbs. You have to write a post and respond to 2 classmates, There are 4 exams. Supposed to have lockdown browsers but he hasn't figured out that the lockdown part hasn't been on all semester. Doesnt accept late work(really strict about that) and only gave one extra credit assignment. Don't miss deadlines and you'll be fine.

Hes a really good grader. As long as you submit in time and follow the rules then you'll get full points. Miss the deadline and you get zero. All his test answers are on quizlet. Would def recommend if you manage to stay on time.

This professor is great! I took a 4 week class and every week we had a DB. The DB had to meet a 250 words answering the prompt. You then had to respond to two different classmates with different responses. We also had 1 quiz a week that took up as a major grade. If you don't study the chapters for the quiz you won't pass. The DB are an easy grade!
