Has "joke time" during every class period-- that's what his personality is like. His lectures are using amusing. There's no homework--just quizzes (easy ones). The tests aren't super hard and are very similar to the quizzes. In the lab you have to memorize all the rocks and minerals and be able to ID them.

Most hilarious man alive! I loved his class. I had absolutely no interest in geology before i took this class, but he made it interesting and entertaining. It wasn't hard class, as long as you go to class. Labs are a little tricky.

Skinner is a champ. There's not much else you can say about him. He's originally a theater major, so he brings an incredible level of enthusiasm into the lecture hall and keeps students laughing and learning the entire semester. I had him for Physical Science 100, but I'd take anything from him!

Hilarious professor and he really tries to make the class interesting. He has joke time in the middle of class which keeps you awake. The textbook still has some wrong answers inside but do your reading and go to class and you will do fine.

im not gonna lie, the class itsself was pretty tough--but not due to any lack of teaching skills--i think it was just me who had a hard time with it--but skinner was a great teacher--one of the best i've had here--he actually makes geology interesting and the field trip was awesome. id recomend this class to anyone

ok this guy is the best teacher i am having for the summer 08 and he makes the geology class (which i thought boring, fun) he makes things not so boring and can actually teach. class is hard, but if you read the TEXT you will be ok, fyi its easier with a study group, or a partner

He is a great guy absolutely amazing! Soo funny and when I was super sick and still went on the fieldtrip he had me taken home it was so great! Besides he knows what hes talking about and makes things way fun

I loved this class, probably because it was Skinner that was teaching it. He is really smart and is really good about working with you. He gives great personal attention in class and even reviewed 12 page papers for our entire class (you rarely get that kind of attention from a professor). If you have to take a class, and he teaches it, take him!

Great Professor! Class was always fun and interesting. You do have alot of reading and a paper every week but he grades easy so if you do the work you get a good grade.

If you are registering for GEOL 101- switch and take 102.... you get to take field trips and it was by far my favorite class!

Of all the Physical Science 100 teachers, he is the best. There is joke time during every class to break up the monotony, and surprisingly I never got sleepy during class. If you can choose your TA, get Chad. If you don't believe me that Chad is the best, then go to his test reviews and you'll see 600+ students there.

Wasn't a huge fan of the class but Skinner is great. He keeps you engaged in lectures. Make sure to go to the TA review sessions. Review your tests in the review room after you take them too. They do curve the class at the end so dont get too freaked out.

Skinner is the man!! He's hilarious! It was such a laid back summer with him as a teacher. All you have to do in the class is read the chapter summaries and look at the pictures/diagrams in the book, take the quizzes, then study the quiz answers for the tests! (most questions on the tests are from the quizzes) Fun and easy A.

One of THE best professor I've ever had. I had another professor for the same class (which I had to drop for scheduling reasons), and he was BORING. Bro. I loved Skinner's class! He made the material interesting and was very funny. 4 labs, a few easy homework assignments, 1 fieldtrip, 2 mid-terms and a final (all were very reasonable - use the study guides and go to TA reviews) Not hard to get an A if you read the textbook and do the assignments. Overall I really enjoyed it! One of my favorites.

Skinner looked like Jack Black. He is HILARIOUS. Makes me want to be a Geologists. Listen to lecture, you have Joke hour, and the tests are off the powerpoints. Easy A and quotable things you hear daily.

Skinner is very nice & so funny! He has a joke time every lecture, & is open to questions. Science isn't my best area, but I found his class easy enough to understand & fair. The one thing I really disliked was how disorganized it felt; there basically was no syllabus - hmwk was given about a week in advance. I like to plan my semester out fully.

Skinner is definitely a fun professor! I enjoyed listening to his lectures, although his tests are hard and sometimes it's a struggle to know what to study for. His class is fair though, and he's hilarious so it was worth it to take from him. I would recommend him to anyone!

Professor Skinner is an amazing instructor who is extremely funny as well as very interesting. He teaches in a fun manner and if he taught every class for a certain degree, I would get that degree. He has quizzes that are due for every chapter but they are more like homework assignments as you have open-note, open-book, etc. Very fun and very easy.

Brother Skinner is a good choice for physical science. He keeps lectures engaging and does "joke time" every day halfway through the class, which is the best. The class itself isn't super easy, but it's easy enough that if you go to class, pay attention, and study a little for tests, you can get an A or A-

physical science 100 is tough but brother skinner makes it a lot of fun. His classes are hilarious. about 30 of your worst grades get drop! no homework. but his midterms and finals are the worst. hardest tests, equal to american heritage tests. if its just to fulfill a g.e. just take dinosaurs. Much easier then this class and its crazy concepts.

Professor Skinner is hilarious! He makes class enjoyable and tough subjects bearable. In-class iclicker quizzes each day but so many are dropped at the end of the term attendance isn't always mandatory. I suggest going for clarity on readings. Heavily weighted tests (4 incl. final) so you have to study. Highly recommend taking this class from him!

Master Skinner is a hilarious professor who has a perfect balance of seriousness and joking around. He will take time to answer your question when you raise your hand, and he is not afraid to tell you "I have absolutely no idea" if he doesn't know the answer. The lectures are a hoot and the labs are not challenging. An A is not hard in this class.

The class is structured so that it's very doable to get an A. His lectures are pretty hilarious most of the time and he really is passionate about the material. There are no tricks on the exams-it's pretty straightforward. If you study and go to class, you'll be able to pass and probably even get an A.

Brother Skinner was amazing! he drops like half of the grades and lets you do test corrections to receive half credit back after every test. he is a little slow at grading but pretty minimal effort can get you an A

it was a good class, and if you go to class and do the readings you will do fine. one thing that really helps is doing the practice problems before the tests.

I LOVED having Skinner for Physical Science. He is so funny and makes lectures very entertaining. He gives THE best test reviews EVER! He is the sole reason I did well in Physical Science, because his test reviews are AMAZING. If I could have Skinner teach all of my classes I would. I laughed in his class every day. He is a gem!

I didn't study much because I didn't care and that's why I got an A-. If you put in minimal effort you'll be just fine.

It is helpful to go to class, because he gives a lot of good information in class. You may be able to pass without going to class, but I found attending very helpful.

I didn't find geology interesting in the slightest, but his sense of humor made it survivable. Course is very doable and you know what you need to do to succeed. He will hint at test questions during lecture, so make sure you write those down, other than that, attend the reviews, read the textbook, and you don't need to bother going to class.

I took the class almost completely online through Zoom. I don't really like science, but I really enjoyed Professor Skinners class. Class notes were easy to understand through readings and by going to lectures and labs, and Professor Skinner always made sure that classes were fun and engaging.

This was the worst class I ever took besides acc200 but skinner makes it a little better. If u hate the class itll be bc of physics not skinner, hes so funny and passionate about it. 50% of your grade are the tests so you need to study and do the readings. definitely have to work hard. to get an A you need a 90 instead of usual 93%

I felt let I was taking a test like every week but the professor was great and did his best to make the class fun! There was lots and lots of work though.

Professor Skinner is hilarious! He recognizes PS100 as a boring GE and tries to spice it up. I learned so much. Sometimes his lectures were a little confusing, but he would take the time to answer your questions and clarify. This may be your best bet as far as physical science goes.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. Knows physical science is a boring class and makes it fun even for people like me that don't like science. Take good notes and you will get an easy A (especially if you take it in Salt Lake). He constantly jokes about how he knows we are all forced to take the class so he tries to make it as easy as he can.

Skinner tries to make this class as easy to understand as he can and genuinely wants us to succeed. He normally cancels class for an exam so you can take it during class time. Most GE teachers don't like teaching GEs, but I can tell he loves teaching this class. Also he loves dinosaurs. If you're forced to take physical science, take it from him.

Definitely take from Brother Skinner! He is such a funny professor and coursework is minimal, a couple reading assignments and an (easy) homework activity each week. Content itself can be tricky at times, but he allows a page of notes on the midterm and final so as long as you do the reading and take notes, you'll be good. 10/10 recommend.

Brother Skinner is an angel! As someone who isn't great at science, he was just what I needed. I never used the textbook, but it would have made my life easier. He didn't have a TA that semester, so getting grades back was slow, but like, it was understandable. He's always willing to help and very accessible outside of class. Great professor!

I took this class at the Salt Lake Center and Brother Skinner made every class enjoyable. He has a great sense of humor and can incorporate it into helping the class make sense. The structure of the class was very easy and the workload was manageable. Prof Skinner really helps you succeed in this class.

Prof Skinner is a great teacher. If you have to take a physical science class, take it from him. We did lots of fun demonstrations in class and he's funny! This class has a lot of busy work, but the work is the same across all the professors. I recommend not buying the textbook because everything you need to know is in the homework assignments.

Skinner was great. He wasn't a harsh grader and the labs were engaging. The mid-term went well considering he let us bring a paper of notes (93%). There was some HW, but it usually just took 15-20 minutes. He was really funny and made the class easy to sit through. He has a real passion for geology and it made the class all the better.

Funny guy. Save $ and buy old edition of textbook (it doesn't matter). For test note sheets, write definiton of every bold word in chapters and you will do really, really well. Great guy, easy class, includes the gospel insasmuch as the subject allows!!!!

Skinner is a great lecturer and really prioritizes you enjoying the class/content which is so nice. Make sure you check learningsuite often bc the schedule that is there at the start of the semester will change and he won't announce changes in class—I missed a couple quizzes because I was following the calendar I made for myself and didn't check.

Professor Skinner makes this physics class enjoyable and manageable. He has a great sense of humor and genuinely wants students to succeed. I found Unstuck study really helpful for study prep alongside the textbook. Definitely take this class with Skinner if you can!
