I love Art History, and this professor genuinely made it the worst part of my entire day. The entire class was graded on the 4 part midterm, the 4 part final and a single essay. So if you suck at tests. Sorry no pass for you. She doesn't make her lectures available and makes the tests extremely difficult. She says it will be one way then changes it
Just ready for challenging yourself if you take her class. Tests are extremely difficult. I don't highly recommend her
It's tedious to memorize dates, names, styles, and mediums, but if you want to pass, that's all you have to do. Expect to talk about boring things at first; hallways, doorways, and columns, it gets more fun later. I'm usually great at essays, but I got a C on this one since it's hard to write about a work that is essentially a rock. Good lectures.
If you are an art student I highly recommend this professor for both ART 140 and 141. Molina is very professional with lots of knowledge to share, she will truly change your perspective on art. Take advantage of her office hours and do the readings ahead of class time. I have not had a professor as caring as Molina in my three years at Grossmont.
She is knowledgeable and experienced in her field. Her class is challenging and your grade is based off of two HUGE tests and a 3-page report. My advice if you have her: stay on top of your flashcards and you will do okay, DO NOT put off studying!
One of the best professors at this school. If you think her class is hard you may want to reconsider going to university. Uni profs will give you a grade based off 4 tests. She gives you terms and artworks that will be on the test on day one, just make flashcards and study and there's no way you won't do well in the class.
Crazy memory - she remembered my name from three years ago. Super interesting lectures. Lots of memorization and i wish there were more tests. You can tell she cares about students and wants people to do good. Make flash cards and take good notes cause the class is demanding. If you like a challenge youll learn a lot.
Lots of work. If you want to do well be ready to commit. This is the second time taking the class. The first time I did not make flash cards. MAKE FLASHCARDS! Trust me on that - I am liking the class so much better now that I figured out how to study for it. Plus she cares about students and will help if you ask for it.
Loved this teacher! Molina is sweet and very passionate about the topics she teaches. Molina is a tough grader but is available for office hours and time after her lectures. She is thorough in her lectures and shares a lot of knowledge.
She is a great professor, I really enjoyed taking her class. Considering its a three hour class, she makes it fun by mixing up the lectures with hands on activities and group activities. Very knowledgeable and understanding if you need to miss class for any reason. I would absolutely take another class that she teaches.
Book is not needed. 2 vocab tests, midterm, final exam and final project. Very fun class. Must study hard for every test but no reading is needed. Must attend class.
I am so glad I took this class. It was an eight week course which I highly recommend to any one. She does in class hands on activities that make the class a little bit more interesting and fun. Participate and show up. Total of 3 exams, one museum report and art class activity. she is not trying to trick you! She wants all her students to get an A!
Interesting and well worth it. I have learned a lot, but you must make and memorize the flash cards!
I have taken 3 classes from Professor Molina, this fall I will be taking my fourth and fifth from her. I simply love her lectures, her knowledge of art from all time periods is just incredible and inspiring. Because of her passion for art I changed my major to art history. I highly recomend Professor Molina her passion will ignite yours.
I took this class under the impression that I was going to learn about the art and the meaning behind it. Art appreciation is not shapes or drawing circles, but appreciating the meaning behind the piece. She changed her syllabus mid class semester which is outrageous and she is the worst teacher i've ever taken. NEVER TAKE HER she shouldn't teach
Was kinda hesitant to take her class because of her reviews however she isn't half as bad as the reviews on here. She is very lecture heavy. However, it is really hard to fail this class. There is about 3 test in this class with a museum report that is easy to do. She is really nice and her tests are not that bad.
While the material wasn't too hard to understand, this professor made it hard to learn.. very long lectures... If she is absent she won't cancel class, but have a sub come and all you'll do is watch a movie.. makes it hard to know when things are due... online homework is due before every test and is extremely time consuming.
Not a good professor; expects you to know what she is talking about when it is a basic level class. Also is unclear of when major assignments are due. She also decided to change the syllabus half way through the semester.
Mrs. Molina is such a great teacher. She makes her lectures fun and interesting and she is so funny and caring herself! I left her class having so much respect for her because she is such a fair teacher.
I just finished taking Mrs. Molinas class and I loved it! its not an easy A, but if you show up to class, take good notes, do the hw and participate you will pass! The tests can be hard, so make sure you study the content really well. But she made it interesting and fun. I recommend taking it but be ready to do some basic work.
I loved Professor Molina! She made class so interesting and fun! If you take good notes, pay attention, read the book, and do the quizzes it's and easy A. There are only 3 exams and the final just requires participation. She cares about her students and is super funny. I want to take more classes with her! Definitely recommend her!
Professor Molina was such a caring teacher. You could tell she was passionate about the topics she was teaching. Homework is based on the readings, which are easy to do. There are 3 tests and NO final and 1 museum report to do,which is also easy. Tests are based on lecture and not homework. I recommend using quizlet to help you study. Easy Class!
I loved Professor Molina. She's hilarious and actually cares about her students. She says textbook is required but it really wasnt, she only tested you on material she went over in class. Art 140 is all about memorization, so be ready to study outside of class. She does take attendance and will drop if you don't show up. Overall an easy A.
The most important thing you need to know is that you are going to WORK. This class is so, so much memorization, there's a massive project due by the end of the semester (don't wait to start it, trust me), and she has no tolerance for getting anything in late. The key to success: DO. NOT. PROCRASTINATE. She tells you that early on. Listen to her.
You have to study to pass the tests. Lots of homework and little extra credit. Boring class but great lectures. This professor says things and doesn't go through with stuff, she once offered extra credit and the next day changed her mind.
Took her 8 week Art 141 class . I love the subject so it was extremely disappointing to find out that she does not include a lot in her lectures ... she is very lazy in my opinion . Her tests are very easy she focuses on the STYLE of the period and artist so if you got that , context and memorize the information she gives you , youll get an A
It was great taking her classes for Art 100 and 140. She is an awesome teacher and loves giving extra credit to those who put in the effort. I still plan on taking Art 141 with her.
She is such a caring prof and she is passionate about art. As long as you come to class and take good notes (she passes out a lecture guide) and look over your notes before each test, you should get an A. I expected Art Appreciation to be boring or a difficult class, but it was neither with her as a professor.
Professor Molina is a ok teacher I really liked her however when we had to switch over to online because of the pandemic. SThings were a little confusing but overall a good teacher. she's ok at lectures and gives a study guide.
I took Miss Molina for Art 140 and will be taking her for another class this semester of Fall 2020. She gives in-depth lectures, gives great tips and guides for studying, and you will, guaranteed, pass her classes - as long as you study. This period of transition to online is difficult, but she is doing ok!
Class was made up of Inquizitives, quizzes, and discussions. Although it's a super easy class, you definitely learn a lot and the discussion topics are really though out. Textbook is required for this class but you can easily find it online so no need to purchase .
Dont take class with her.
Worse prof Ive ever had. For the main reason being because she wanted most of her students to fail. She would make quizzes that didnt even come from the lectures or readings. She also put obstacles and challenges for students so they could be pressured and stressed out while taking her course. I thought this wouldve been a nice prof, I was wrong
The questions is so hard and you have to guess the answers, most of them are from between lines . In the quize you cant review your answers because you cant go back , not enough time for the quize. When you submit the quize sheblocked it and you didnt know what is the correct answer because she kept the quizes locked till the end of the semester.
Worst professor I have ever taken. Her class was easy in the beginning and mid semester she made everything hard and difficult. My grade was 87% and I got 60/100 on final exam, my grade went down to 79.14. I texted her said is there anything possible I can do to help change my grade and with an attitude she answered saying No it remains that same.
Horrible professor, her quizzes did not even match any homeworks or lectures. Not enough time to take them and wouldnt let you go back and review your answers till a whole week later. I had a 88% on her class and only had one more assignment to be graded and somehow she lowered my grade 3 times in one day without grading anything. Dont take her
Worst Professor you can ever take, she literally doesnt want her student to pass. Really rude replies when you email and homework and lectures dont match the quiz at all.
Horrible Prof. Dont take I'm surprised I passed.
Worse prof at Grossmont. She dropped students randomly for no reason.
I hated this class. If you liked art classes and history classes, take it and in you don't, avoid this class. She was nice and knew what she was talking about, but she made a lot of decisions that just made no sense. She annoyed the hell out of me with how she ran her class, but she was a decent teacher and the class was easy, just super tedious.
WORST professor at Grossmont. She takes forever to answer emails and leaves you handling. Her grading is so tough and she doesn't do extra credit or make-ups.
The most terrible prof I have ever taken. She expects you have an expert level from an introduction class. Very tough grader, she can change your grade from 100% to 50% at any time. She did not give you any explanation of what you have done wrong. If you are not Art or History major, don't ever consider taking her.
The positive reviews left on here are not reliable. She pretended to be a caring and understanding professor the first few weeks of the semester. As the days went on, she shortened test time, added 20+ more difficult questions on homework, added more test questions that were insanely hard. This is a art class, a useless subject not sci/engineering
Tough grader and doesnt allow you anytime to make up work. Is rude when youre emailing her and wont get back to you till 1 hour the assignment is due. So theres no chance to re do the work. Her final times are insane. 35 mins for a 500 word essay and 9 mins for 21 multiple choice final. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Worse experience Ive had.
I thought her reviews were an overreaction, but they aren't. She counts participation in minutes and will drop you if you're under par. The quizzes are through a 3rd party that takes forever, but you can get 100% every time so that's the good part. Average score for assignments is 8/10 and she makes it hard to get a 10/10. Lecture and reading heavy
I took her class and dropped it after one week. I have never dropped any classes and have a 3.95 GPA. So much work and unrealistic expectations. She seems like a nice person and loves art. Her lectures are interesting but the testing, homework, and art assignment grading is insane.
This is more of a English 120 class. Right off the bat I received partial credit for missing a period at the end of a sentence. Window for completion is very small. With English being a second language, I have never felt so anxious to type anything to in a ART class. Teacher rarely respond to e-mails, disregarding most. Do not recommend at all.
My time in Art 100 was nothing short of grueling. Professor Molina does not care about her students whatsoever, and gives no helpful feedback if I am in need. Test times and questions are absolutely ridiculous. If you get stuck on a question, you might as well fail the quiz because you only have 1 minute to think about each question. Do not take.
She is an over the top psycho who doesn't give enough time for quizzes. She docks big points off discussions for just the smallest details. I admit the work is somewhat easy, but its very tedious. Quizzes are hard for the short time to take them. I would rate this professor a zero if it were possible.
I really enjoyed this online class. There was little/ no need for interaction other than an extension needed. Was super understanding when I went out of town and had no power. Class is mostly reading and Inquisitives which usually took 3 hours total for me but you'd be surprised how fast that time can go by. Very passionate about her teaching.
Took this course for GE credit. It's easy to learn from the online class with organized weekly assignments and readings. The online extension that we use is a little tedious, but goes by super fast. My only complaint is that the quizzes will have something like 8 questions in 5 minutes. Make sure to take study guide notes to prepare for tests.
Professor Molina was a great Professor overall albeit a tough one. She wants you to work for your grade but if if you practice active listening and hone in on your reading skills you will be rewarded. She went above and beyond to listen to an issue I had with Canvas and she took my word for it instead of blowing me off. She earned my respect!
Worse GE prof I have had at Grossmont so far. She did not give us enough time to take quizzes. She will dock 4 points off your 5 point discussion for simply just doing 2 replies instead of 3 like she asks. She counts participation through readings and lecture videos. If you want an easy A, do not take her class.
The work is pretty easy but very time consuming. Most of the module assignments are required to spend 30-60 mins on EACH assignment, you are timed! This art class is a lot about history and other cultures. The Professor is nice but is a tough grader, just be sure to follow the instructions very carefully and do read her announcements!!
Uses information outside of the assigned text and does not cite sources. Pron to using outdated terminology. Uses highly speculative questions on multiple choice tests. Blames the class for her poorly written test.
Uses information outside of the assigned text and does not cite her sources. Prone to using out dating terminology. Uses highly subjective questions on multiple choice tests. Goes long on lectures but doesn't give enough time on tests. Blames students for her scoring low on her poorly written exams.
You better prepare to read and take "inquisitive" tests that take large amounts of time to finish. Even though this class is time-consuming, your grade is a reflection of your work ethic. You can keep answering questions until you get an A grade. Lastly, print our lecture module template and take notes! They are almost verbatim on tests.
Professor Molina has a passion for art history that really shines through her lectures. Online Asian Art History was interesting. Used a subscription based e-book and used Inquizative for weekly quizzes. Read the chapters, and take lecture notes! Learn how she emphasizes certain topics, they often end up on exams. Take her courses, Commit to learn!
Most of her assignments were easy to do, it was the quizzes that were really difficult. She did not allow enough time to take the quizzes, 8 questions in 5 minutes, because of that I scored no higher than a C on her quizzes. Her grading scale and class structure made no sense. I do not recommend this professor at all!
Prof Molina is very caring and is clearly passionate about art. She kept her recorded lectures short and sweet but they were super interesting. I loved the activities each week, no real artistic skill was required, they were just fun. The online hw could be kind of frustrating and time-consuming but the rest of the material made up for that.
This rating is not about her character but as a professor. She is sweet but horrible at being organized, replying, being clear about assignments, and extremely late at uploading assignments. She also barely gives you time to watch the lecture, read, study, then take the quizzes. She gives you like 48 hours to do so. Don't take if you work!!!
Shes really nice, but her tests are really hard even if you watch the lectures. The homework is really easy and not too many assignments a week. The tests are just really heavily graded and extremely hard to pass.
Her lectures are all over the place. She requires you to make notes out of a hour lecture where she mentions a lot of things. She puts very specific details mentioned as questions on the quizzes. Her timing for locking and unlocking quizzes/tests/discussions is terrible she would only give 2 or 3 days to complete them and lock everything on Thurs.
Professor Molina does not know how to time manage when to post assignments or respond to us. She said, in the beginning, to be willing to help. As time passed, she slowly didn't comment on my work for its grade. You'll only have two to three days to work on the assignments on top of your other classes. Her work is heavy when falling short on time.
The lectures are nicely put together and interesting. Great for beginners. Do study for the tests because you will need to. Read the textbook and do your homework. She would give me extra points on homework. You don't need to be good at art to get a good grade as long as you try.
Unprofessional professor, due to her heavy lectures that don't relate to the quizzes she assigns. She also makes us read and work on Inquisitive, which needs to be over 30 mins. If not, the whole assignment would be placed a 0. She gives us a lot of homework and reading to do within a small period gap.
She is ok. Easy A for general education, but would not recommend to take just for fun since it is not very insightful.
I started using this website as a precaution after this professor. You have to fight for your grade in this class, not a lot is clear. I was graded badly by using textbook answers. She expects you to catch tiny details she says in her lectures and uses it in exams. HW is fine but kind of demanding, and exams are hard even with a study guide.
Somewhat organized, but bad curriculum. Had to get part of the class accommodated and wouldn't help me without meeting with a counselor. Didn't want to address the problem and instead seemed like she wanted to get it over with. I found out later she gossiped about it with other teachers. Not helpful. Unproductive class and uninspiring.
I would stay clear of taking her class if you want an easy A. She is so extremely excessive. She gave me a 2/10 on a discussion post because I didn't address my classmates by name when commenting. Majority of the homework is on this stupid game website that makes you want to pull your hair out. I would chose a different class if possible
This professor is not an easy A. She requires alot of memorization and textbook quizzes. Her lectures are heavy, but I enjoyed them. My biggest issue with this professor was the structure of her course. She kept explaining to us that this was her first semester teaching in person for a few years and it showed. beware if you like structure.
I want to start off by mentioning that I am not one to write negative reviews or anything of that sort which yet alone says quite a lot. If you are reading this wondering how this teacher is, wonder no more, this is my worst experience yet and if I could rate in the negatives trust me I would. STAY AWAY at all cost from this professor!
Just finished her intersession Art 100 class online and got an A. I will say the 2 exams we had were a bit difficult, heavily reliant on memorization from textbook and PowerPoint presentations. But she did offer an extra credit assignment at the end which helped. Tough grader, pays attention to details, but I enjoyed her class and would take again.
Profesor was unreasonable with grading and expectations. Stay away and do not take this teacher, I wish I knew about this website before. Quick to take away points but very stingy to give back.
Professor Molina was one of the best professors I have had. She grades on following directions and rubrics, something other instructors are not so attentive about. She is very communicative and responsive when you reach out. She has taught me core values that will aid in my success when transferring to a 4-year. You get what YOU put in.
Insufferable. For context I am an art history major, the only one in there to be frank. Most were freshman who were taking the class for credit or just getting into it. She has her own lectures and expects us to use answers from her lecture instead of the textbook which she referred us too, making us do quizzes that took up most of our time.
When I first saw her rating I was really hesitant, but her rating is not at all accurate in my opinion. She gives a 48 hr grace period for full credit after the due date, she has changed due dates to give us more time several times this semester, and the work really isnt that difficult. Shes super nice and no tests which is amazing!
The amount of work that is required for this class an unfathomable amount. The classwork itself honestly just ruins any motivation for me to do any form of art for fun, because the criteria that is being graded on is so high. If you are considering taking an Art Appreciation course, stay very, very far away from this professor.
I had to take the class because it was required, but it was a good experience. There were no quizzes or tests, just lectures during class meetings. She offers a 48-hour grace period for the assignments. Some assignments take time, but if you do the work, you'll pass with an A. She doesn't want you to fail, so communicate, and you'll be fine.
Professor Molina is as amazing as it gets; the old reviews stressed me out because I wasn't sure if I'd like her class. We had two assignments each week, if not three at most, to help with Inquizitivies. Overall, this was an amazing class and a great learning environment, and I'd retake it. One thing about this course is not to slack on work.
The professor was kind, but there were to many assignments to keep up with. If you are interested in art this is a great class to take. Since I'm not an artist it took a lot of motiviation to try to complete projects. Not the worst class but not my favorite easy to get an A with an amount of effort she takes a while at times to get back to emails.
She's lovely, it honestly shocks me how low her rating is. Other reviews are right though, she does give a bit of work, about 3 assignments a week + a quiz, and the occasional group project and self assessment. Super understanding though. When I was going through a tough time and had trouble with the work load, she was very kind and forgiving.
Prof Molina is a passionate lecturer and keeps the class engaged with thought provoking questions.Imo there is a lot of online reading that also has corresponding quizzes/tests, but as long as you take good notes youll be fine.Average amount of assignments but they were fun, creative, and introspective. Also use quizlet to memorize names and dates!
I enjoyed this class but I didn't like how the homework was done. They were readings and quizzes. A lot of art projects, group projects, and videos in class. I had a lot of fun and Molina was a good professor.
Professor Molina is amazing, and she is very passionate about art. Her lectures are very laid back and chill and the assignments are not difficult at all. The online homework is a little much and it is quite difficult, however she is very lenient about late work and allows you to turn in missing assignments until the very end of the semester.
I dont understand the bad rating. I only took the summer course but she is not picky with her grading and her grading criteria is very clear and normal. The assignments were light for a summer course and she gave great feedback and plenty of time to complete them even with a 2 day grace period for thr modules. Take her!!!
Honestly the summer art 100 course was spectacularly easy. If you are getting less than an A you should rethink your academic pursuits.
Mostly lecture, sometimes fun activities. Inquisitives are a big part of your grade and each one takes about an hour to do.
The class could be fun and there's a lot of group activities/creative projects. However, the way she operates was often confusing. With class activities, she takes a long time choosing how to assign them. There's quizzes based on the textbook, "Inquizitives" which are pretty time consuming. Wouldn't recommend taking if you are impatient lol.
Genuinely did not enjoy taking this class whatsoever, i have never rated a professor until this class was taken, the quizzes take soooo much time, her assignments are just unnecessary.
