A very sweet and helpful teacher.
very clear and precise!
One of the best at GC, very clear, you will learn a lot of info in her class
Very easy and interesting class.
3 test, 1 museum essay & proj. Easy if you go over her study guide for the test
Clear, uses great study guides for tests. very helpful. very sweet.
Great teacher! Everyone should take her, i have learned so much!
Make some flashcards and do the museum assignment, you'll getr at least a B
Boring as hell but what can you expect from an ex-museum tour guide!
She knows her stuff and outlines the exact test for you. You'll learn a lot!:)
She's nice but the class is boring. Tests are hard, but no busy work. Do your museum project!!!!
teaches like a kindergarten teacher. very strict with absences too
She's strict and very professional. She is monotone, but she makes her tests simple if you pay attention. It was an easy A for me.
Art Hist can be very difficult. Must memorize names, dates, styles. Drink your coffee first, b/c the lights go off and it's easy to fall asleep. She gives great study guides. Ask questions, very helpful..study though
Boooooring class, very dry, test require alot of memorization, really turns you off to art. Do not take unless art major!
ITs like this....the seats in the classroom are not sufficient for sleeping.
Easy class by the final you don't even need to study you know everything, 1 art project over the semester do that and ok on the test and you will do fine, easy B for anyone A if you put a little effort into it
Incedibly boring, but nice enough. Test grading structure is wierd- If you get two questions wrong it's a whole letter grade off.
She is soooooooo boring! And above all she is very unfair, I worked so hard, never miss a class, did great on the tests and she gave me a B she needs to learn how to grade, and she needs to understand that not all people in her class are art majors.
Serrano is a no non-sense instructor, yet extremly fair and helpful when visiting office hours. I recieved an easy "A" by taking good notes and creating flash cards. For the true art lover, not cry babies who don't study.

Extremely friendly, professional & intellectual. She makes Art Hist. fun to learn, even though at times it covers boring material. People who don't have good study habits, should NOT sign up. Find a study partner early in semester. Bring coffee!
VERY good professor!!!!!!!!!
Can you say boring??? If you are not an Art major, this is not the class for you. I never thought it was possible to know too much about something, until I saw how much she knows about old artists. Good grief!
Easy class, just way too boring. She's completely anul about the smallest stupidest things also.
Horrible class. Too much detail. Not an art major so I had no interest. Boring and difficult to sit through. Teacher good, but seemed uptight and way into the whole art thing.
Boring atmosphere, very easy class. I never studied or read the book and I got an A. I'm not an art major. I fell asleep frequently in the class as well. Very easy.
Hard class, not fun
BORINGif you are not an art major, DO NOT take her class. The tests are not difficult but she gives you a list of 20 artworks and you have to stress out and study all of them but your only tested on 4. She is unfair and takes intro to art WAY too serious.
I would recommend this class to a person who appreciates art, and enjoys learning! The teacher is really nice and loves when people participate. Don't take this class if you don't like taking notes!
she is fairly a good professor and knows her class. but the class is pretty boring, sometimes interesting. if you're an art major, u'll love it. just do make sure u take notes and study, then u'll have no problem passing the class. Some papers r required.
This class is BORING, and I AM AN ART MAJOR!!!! Prof. Serrano knows a lot about art. However, she seems to have her smile pasted on her face. There is such thing as a wrong answer!!! I never want to compare two random works of art again!!!!
she is a great teacher, easy A if you study the study guide
informative class.study hard for the tests and you'll do fine.this is not one of those classes you should take for an easy art credit but the payoff is you actually learn.serrano knows her stuff and grades fairly and is not unusually hard by any means.
BORING, period, nice teacher but the semester felt like 5 years
Boring!!! but simple
boring fell asleep everyday DO NOT take unless art major, too hard for a GE and intro to art class
Easy teacher, kinda hot too
A very fun class if you like observing art. She gives out a list of slides to cover, allows a lot of class participation and her lectures are always fun and insightful. I highly recommend this class :)
bad techer dont take unless an art major
yeah it's boring, but easy. Only take notes on the slides that she tests you on, otherwise, bring a crossword puzzle.
It was a horrible class. The test were hard, the lectures were boring. Do not take this class for GE!!!!!!
All you have to do is study but she is unfair with giving out A's.
Her tests are unfair. She quizzes u on stuff thats not specified. She gives A's only to those who visit her outside of class every day. When you do A work and screw up on one thing she ends up giving you a B. Dont take her.
This teacher is very helpful and she wants you to learn. She is a good teacher. She will make you interested in the subject.
lot of things to remember. however, class is helpful.
Taught in such a way that it come off as dry and boring. The subject matter is very intersting, but lectures are very boring. Test are hard, she trys to be helpfull, at the same time turns away students who ask question and can make you feel dumb for askings, Take this class with another teacher.
This is suppose to be a fun class. NOT!!!!!! The test is unfair and if you don't have an interest in art this class is not for you. She is very pickie and make things harder than it really is.
The class was so boring and so hard. There was 1 art major in a class of over 60, she still made everything as hard as she could. Everything has to be so specific and she is very picky. Hard to get an A in the class. Take another teacher.
This shouldn't be this hard, papers gradedhard than in an english class, and don't get on her bad side, you'll never get a fair grade afterward. She is no help, get moody if you ask questions. Take with another teacher and save youself the stress.
I thought it was a fair class. The subject matter can be boring but if you take good notes you'll do fine on the tests. Just make sure to check the due dates on your syllabus! She won't take late assignments!!!! Not a hard class at all. (if you study)
Take notes. There are 2 projects. Tests include matching, identifying artworks, and a 5 paragraph essay. Day after test, you usually watch a movie. Lots of trips during class to the art gallery. No gettin out early. Participate in class discussions, or its boring. She offers extra credit, so do it.
She was unhelpful and did not assist me in any way with the complex and often gruling projects, and did not return my phone calls for help.
great teacher. could be nicer and still be a great teacher. no review for exams. material on exams vague.
Boring, Boring, Boring. She does powerpoint, and turns down all the lights which won't help you stay awake...dry material, and dry teacher. Very straight forward, nothing exciting.
She's not a teacher at all, and very cold too. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS or any classes with her.
she knows a lot, but she also expects you to know it too. The tests would be easy except she grades the essays unfairly, and the multiple choice section is impossible to get a perfect score.
This class changed how I see art. I will definitely take another class from her.
she is mean and does not know how to teach. take someone else if you can.
She has no personality and no feelings toward anyone. Her matching is impossible to get correct and her only suggestion/comment is "did you read the book". I hope she retires soon and does everyone a favor.
She is a quality teacher. If you really want to learn about art history, I highly recommend her. She has strict guidlines, but I found them to be very helpful in accomplishing the assignments. One of the most beneficial and memorable classes I have taken. So much of what I was taught carried over to other branches of learning.
grades the essay questions on the test unfairly. the class was interesting but tests were too hard for this subject
If you want to take this class take it with someone else. Even if you study hard the test are impossible, the essay is graded way too hard, and the matching is confusing. I think the rating writien below, the good one, was writen by her. She not helpful, and really just plan boring. and she talks about her husband all the time. Take someone else
A wonderful teacher that is very helpful if one chooses to seek out help. Her tests are pretty clear and fair. A lot of studying time is required as well as memorizing numerous images and key information. I have taken 2 of her classes and am taking another class next semester. If you are interested in learning about art this is a class for you.
Um.. Yeah she is really boring... But she knows what shes doing.. You REALLY REALLY have to look deep into each painting and love art to take her class.. otherwise.. not the greatest elective
art history was my passion, and she killed it for me. she doesnt know what she is talking about. This is her lecture..."Ok, this is______. By _______, in the year____. Ok. Good for them. Good for us. Yess in deedy! Moving on." She lectures off notes...and doesnt know how to answer ALOT of students questions...tests are managable...just study--HARD!
I liked this class. There's really not too much reading involved and just a bunch of memorization. She's pretty clear about what she expects you to study for and even makes outlines to follow for her projects. She tries to make things interesting and has her funny moments. Its one of my easier classes. If taken seriously, possible to pass with A
She is way hot but crazy hard! think hard and choose wisely before taking her
it would've been an ok class but she dropped me for "cheating", do not leave your folders on the ground during tests
Anyone with a brain will understand this and laugh..."Good for us..good for you." "Excellente." "Did you read the book." TRUST ME YOU DO NOT WANT TO TAKE HER! If you have to though, make sure you can remember dates, the name of the artwork, and statements about the work that she never mentions and you will only understand if you have E.S.P.
intersting class, she knows her stuff. You have to study to do good in this class, there is a lot of memorization required to pass her tests.
She's excellent, educated and knows her stuff. She grades on tests and one final project but the project is easy and the tests are all totally based off lectures. Read the book for 4 hours b4 the test and you're good as long as you go to class.
Interesting class covered very thoroughly, she KNOWS her stuff. Tests are from lectures as well as book, so take GOOD NOTES. Serrano is a professional, "live wire" full of positive energy. I notice how the majority of poor ratings are from whiners and slackers. Simple solution: S.T.U.D.Y. She is very helpful and wants students to succeed.
Serrano is a great teacher. Her classes are interesting and the assignments are fair and easy. Her tests are very very easy if you study the book and remember dates. If you are going to take Art History, take Serrano.
She is a horrible teacher even if she knows the subject. Also, she is extremely arrogant, and you never feel free to ask questions or discuss something. Yes, it was a bad choice.
The class is a bit boring, but if you do any amount of studying using the study guide, you'll be fine. She's sort of comical sometimes, and I loathe her "comparisons" between art where she forces class participation. Other than that, not too hard or bad.
Unfair Thats all i have to say about her.
At first the class was difficult because it is pretty much all memorization of the Artist, Title and Date. Although she gives all the answers to the exams and the class has turned out to be very easy. Learn her learn her exam style. If you dont get a good grade, it is because you didnt try. I recommend Serrano!
Highly reccomend Serrano. Im taking Art 100 next semester and i wish she fit into my schedule!!!
Nice teacher, makes art history interesting (in my opinon), tests are chalenging but not too hard (as long as you make note cards). Not many projects. Mainly just lectures. Take her class, it's not bad.
I was really excited to take this class because i really like the subject. I was so dissapointed though with the way the class was taught. Serrano's lectures were boring & dry & it seemed like she didn't know the material all that well. The class could've been really great instead it was just dull. There are 4 tests & a museum & creative project.
let's put it in this way: she's horrible, the class is boring and you could fall asleep during it! she doesn't help anyone and doesn't even care at anything! don't take her class is the only good advice i can give you!!!
Okay, so the lectures are boring...get over it. Grab a cup of coffee each morning, and get ready- cause this might be the easiest A you will ever get. She will tell you exactly what you need to know for every exam-all you need to do is KNOW it. Easy stuff, man. There's a museum assignment, a creative project plus Xtra credit- like a piece of cake.
Excellent class. Prof. Serrano is a great teacher. The class is fun and it is super easy as long as you make your notecards and study them, do some reading, and take good notes. You'll be fine.
i actually took this class a while ago, she was really nice and really attractive and passionate about some things. the tests and projects were pretty dry for the first half of the class though.
She's specific about what you need to know: lists the paintings and vocab words, & u read the directions for the paper. Easy. Sorry to be rude to other people, but if you failed this class you DIDN'T DO THE WORK. I didn't pick up the book once this semester and I have an A. Make flashcards, listen and take notes,do he essay: get an A. Pretty simple
This class is so easy. If you go to class, you will get an A. She is obscure and not the most articulate teacher. Sometimes I wish she knew more about the material than just reading it off of her notes. In some areas, though she is pretty knowledgeable. Easy class for little work.
I really did not like this teacher. She was extremely boring. Tests are extremely difficult. BORING CLASS is all I have to say, and she just wont stop with the mouth.
Her tests are pretty easy and she is not a super in your face art fanatic. Kind of goofy. Dont take mid-afternoon= she turns off the light and its so hard not to fall asleep. Ask questions and learn to memorize to succeed
WHAT MAKES THIS TEACHER HARD IS THAT HER TESTS ARE NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE. EXAMPLE: YOU MUST *MEMORIZE* SPECIFIC DATES, STYLES, FACTS ABOUT 30 PIECES OF ART. OF THOSE ONLY 10 APPEAR ON THE TEST. IT IS VERY EASY TO GET CONFUSED. YOU ARE GRADED ON ONLY TESTS ALONG WITH 1 MUSEUM PROJECT AND 1 CREATIVE PROJECT. THOSE ARE WHAT WILL BOOST YOUR GRADE!!
Not an easy class, but she's a good teacher. She's upfront about what she wants you to know for the test. A LOT of memorizing, but DUH. It's an art history class. The key to getting an A is reviewing your notes. Short term memory won't help here because the final is cumulative. Go to class and TAKE NOTES! Sometimes xtra cred. Nice, kinda funny
Very Strict on Tardiness!!!! But, you learn to be on time, so it's good for you! I learned a lot from this class (Well, about myself) . I still remember the names of the paintings I studied in this class. She has no mercy for late people, and remember for the museum visit, show proof that you went! She gave me a low grade. Just follow her rules, an
you'll survive! Good luck All! :)
I went to almost every class and by week 8 she dropped me just after i took my first midterm for attendance. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME SITTING IN A DARK ROOM TAKING NOTES, HORRIBLE TEACHER. RUDE TOO.
She is a rigid, horrible woman. Expects you to memorize way too much information. It's funny because she doesn't even have the info memorized. She was constantly checking to see if she is correct. Also, don't miss 3 classesshe will drop you. Avoid this awfulperson at all costs!!!
kinda "upity" You never want to miss.I enjoy and appreciate art more. But yeah, too much information to memorize in one sitting, especially since I am not a major. She's cute. Definitely knows her stuff.Happy to clarify through email.Wouldn't take it with a lot of other classes.Glad it is over.
Lets be honest- she is a little unstable. She has good days, and bad days- but more bad. VERY strict on tardiness and absenteeism- she WILL drop you. She is very passionate about her work though, and when ou catch her on a good day, she can be sweet.
There is way too much memorizing in this class. She is nice but Seriously take it with someone else.
Anyone who had to memorize less < 100 art works stop complaining. difficult, must study take GREAT notes. crabby, not helpful. Can be confusing. Talks fast, and information you need to know is spoken not written. Lots of memorization. Read the book. Pay Attention. Must know multile insignificant facts in addition to name, date and era on tests.
I went into this class thinking it would be an easy A. I was way wrong. The class is made up of memorizing 100 slides with a midterm in between, after, and then a cumulative final. I studied my ass off for the first midterm and walked away with a B-. I recommend this class if you enjoy art, not if you want an easy A.
The most difficult class that I have ever had for getting a good grade. Needs a lot of memorization. I spend most time to study this class but still cannot get a good grade. The teacher is too strict on grading.
Very hard!
My biggest problem with the class is that even if you know the concepts very well, it doesn't matter. The only things that matter for the tests are memorization and spitting it out on the test. There is an essay portion, but it only minimally affects your test grade. She is fanatical about spelling. Way too difficult if you're in for general ed.
it just an okay course, with a pretty bad prof.
one of the most toughest class i have ever taken. she is arrogant, she reads off her notes to answer students, do not take this class with her. Midterms are hard. Need to remember 100 slides. Tough tough class. Oh and do not take this class.
The class is difficult but if you study it isn't that bad. I didn't use the textbook and still got a B. All you have to do is pay attention. She may be tough but this is life...get used to it!
I took this class having taken AP Art History the year before in high school, and I think that is the only reason I passed this class. To survive you pretty much need to write down EVERYTHING she says. She's incredibly strict about tardiness and spelling. The tests are easy if you can remember every work and info about them.
If you have a bad memory, don't take this class. You will need to know the name, date, artist, style (and more) of 80 to 100 works, split across 2 midterms and a cumulative final. A short museum paper, final paper, and small art project are also required. Memorize, attend class, and follow directions for an easy A. Text book is mostly optional.
Easy but you gotta keep up
Worst teacher I have ever had at Grossmont. Expects an incredible amount of work from her students that includes 120 flash cards with 5+ things that need to be memorized for each. Doesn't accept late work, will mark you absent if you are even a few minutes late, and will drop you after 3 absences. Incredibly boring and full of herself. DONT TAKE!!!
Shes really hard, you dont study you dont pass.
Very challenging but very interesting.I was never bored!!Need to study hard and put the time in but well worth the expertise from Ms. Serrano
Pr Serrano is very knowledgable about her subject and I enjoyed this class alot and learned to (go figure) appreciate certain art styles more. The whiners are the people who are lazy and thought they could just sit in class and do nothing. There is no HARD work in her classes, just basic studying. Welcome to college!
Not for you if you don't like art, or want an easy A. Lots of memorization and note-taking. Intelligent, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about art. Only impatient if you blow things off, or are repeatedly late. Other than that, a genuinely nice person. Take it if you love art, want to learn, and don't have an aversion to actually studying.
Keep al your notes, read them before you take a quiz! She is really hard with her grading
Serrano was the toughest teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I took this class because I needed an elective and easy A and now I am trying as hard as I can to PASS. A lot of reading. pay attention to detail. expect to memorize at 100+ art works with name, artist, DATE, and era. along with extensive detail on each.
very difficult class! Only take if you are a genius. Her tests averages of our class are D's. lots of memorizing. you have to know extensive details about 100+ pieces of art work including: name, artists, date, era and other info. but besides that... its a cool class
Prof. Serrano is uber professional! She has lots of experience with art history. The memorization of the works is easy if you can give yourself mnemonic clues. Regurgitate her lectures and the class is cake. All grades based on 5 tests, Final, and two minor papers. If you are a Art Hist Maj, take her, if you are looking for an easy A, don't!
Great teacher, helped me get back into school. No joke, her class is tough, but so is life. Do what she says and you will be okay. Her strictness and teaching style are a prelude to the employment field., ie, don't be late, and be serious about your profession.
i came into her class hating everything about art, luckly its all about its history. if you are terrible at memorizing this class is not for you! however if you take time in soaking up the notecards in your brain you will get the A that i got. i thought it was gonna be a bad class but it is easier than you expect.
There are no loop holes in this class, it is just straight up memorization and a few essays and tests. She says the class should not be about simple memorization, even though the final is accumulative with about 100 slides to remember. Multiply that by 4 different things to remember for each slide. So about 400 detail PLUS vocabulary and context.
Shes cool, will work with you if you prove yourself hard working, dont disapoint her though!
Before I took this class i wasn't into art,but taking her class made me really respect art.She is very passionate, very professional, clear about what will be on the test.the only thing is the tests aren't multiple choice, no word bank for terms, so make sure to study the terms throughout the semester-don't procrastinate!! the final is cumulative!!
If you have the chance to take De Koning, DO IT! It's true that if you're on her good side, you'll be okay, but if you have one MINOR misstep, then she is completely irrational. I had the highest grade in the class, then I made one mistake and got on her bad side. She immediately dropped my next test grade from a 98 to a 53 just because she could.
incredibly hard. the amount of work she expects you to remember is of what a 5 unit class would expect her class is a 3 unit and it is ridiculous.
Prof.Serrano is, in my opinion, a great teacher. She knows her subject and her class is never boring. The attendance is mandatory(for your own good), she uses the book a lot(reading Gombrich is both educational and fun),and she is absolutely crystal clear about her expectations. I absolutely loved Art100!Take it!You'll learn a lot about ART.
Ms. Serrano is a great art professor, she leaves everything pretty clear and spurs an interest in your heart for art. You can see the passion she has for the subject. It's pretty hard since final grade is based on only 3 tests. But if you study the material it's all good
Professor Serrano expects too much in an 3 units elective class, Very passionate with her stuff, very knowledgeable, very thorough, very precisely, miticuious, very pushy, if you make her mad she'll swear at you if you don't do what she says. Her accumulative points scale sucks, the final is accumulative. Alot of note writing, alot of memorization
Professor Serrano is a hard grader will push you to the , no easy A there, there's no loopholes in class don't half step, anal attentive with Chicago style writing, the more you write with all the facts the better your grade will be, If you're borderline C with like a 68% she'll give you a D so make sure you have 70% or higher so hit the books.
Truly a great teacher, people only hate her because she is a little tough, however if you shut up and pay attention, the rest comes easy. She knows what she is talking about.
DO NOT PICK THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Studying for it will take over your semester. She's a good, passionate teacher, and you'll learn a lot, but her expectations are too high for an entry level art history course. 3 hard tests, paper has strict guidelines, and you'll have to memorize 100+ artworks by title, artist, style, and year.
This class is meant for those who are willing to put in hours of study time and have good memorization skills. This class is tough but Professor Serrano is a very engaging and knowledgable woman. To me, this class was fun and you learn quite a lot about art.
Toughest class I have encountered. I barely had a passing grade. Just when you think you have studied your brains out, no you will get a failing test back. My advice is if you are working or full time in school, drop all your classes and quit your job because this class needs all the time you can scramble.
The professor conducts herself in a very unprofessional manner--often rude to other students with sarcastic crude remarks. Her grading scale is harsh. She uses a holistic grading scale, sometimes unparallel to the guidelines she provides. Don't take her. If she really wanted her students to excel in her class, she should consider their concerns.
Do not take this class! I am a veteran student who has taken a multitude of diffrent classess and Professors. After 3 years of attendance I thought, I had experienced the worst of the worst... until I met Serrano. Terrible teacher, unorganized, thoughtless, and incredibly condescending. How she became a professor baffles me. Avoid at all COST!
I never thought anyone could make Art so uninteresting and hard to understand. The lectures are irrelevant to her test and she has a horrible attitude. Not a great teacher at all...Art is not a fun subject with this woman. Don't take her.
If you're not passionate about art history DO NOT take this class. She is by far the worst professor I've had at this school. Lectures are boring an mostly unrelated to test material, get ready to spend your life studying for this class if you decide to take it.
Professor Serrano is by no means an easy teacher but that doesn't make her a bad one. She has lots of office hours if you need extra help and appreciates the visit. You will get an A if you pay attention, read the book, and make flash cards.
I think she's a great teacher. She seems passionate about the art work. Yes, you have to study, it's a college course. Just read the chapters, do the practice quizzes, and make some flashcards or powerpoints to study. It's not that bad. She made me actually interested in art history, so I would recommend the class for sure.
easily hardest class i've ever taken, and i used to be a bio major. strictly memorization. be prepared to memorize about 400-500 facts, all she does is put a picture on the screen and you have to spew out facts. strict grader. spelling counts, even on terms in other languages. most of the class dropped. class takes over your life. dont take.
Omg I love her! I'm a engineering major & took this class cause I love art. She's very thorough & knowledgeable bout art. Attend class daily & take good notes. She makes you work for the A but it's well worth it. I would definitely take her again, even thinking bout double minor in art hist.
NO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SERRANO!!! She makes it way harder than it needs to be for no reason. She treats you like your still in high school. She is also very rude to her students and not willing to help her students excel to their highest ability. I am an A and B student and I got a C+ in Art 100 ...DON'T TAKE SERRANO!
Professor Serrano is not a fair teacher. I warn you if you take this class you will spend a ridiculous unneeded amount of time on her class. Don't take it for an easy A because she grades really hard.
This is college, it's not supposed to be easy. This class can be tough UNLESS you take good notes, read the book, and create flash cards for vocabulary and artwork. Professor Serrano can be a little strict but is knowledgeable and approachable.
I took boh 140 and 141 with Serrano before transferring as an ArtHis Major to UCLA. You will be hard pressed to find a better Professor anyway, let alone a CC. Take her class, listen to what she says because she's 100% correct. To give you an idea, one of her college professors wrote a book I'm using in an Upper Div. Seminar at UCLA. Take advantage
Her grading scale is often unclear and very harsh. She does not care about whether or not her students succeed. She is often unorganized and does not know how to answer her students questions without being condescending. I would not ever take her class again.
The secret to getting a good grade in this class: READ AND TAKE REALLY GOOD NOTES! Her exams and quizzes are fairly easy when you read and understand the material. Lastly, flash cards are extremely helpful, so make them and use them!
When she gives you a study guide, STUDY IT! Everything on it is going to be on the test. Most people dropped and weren't passing by the last month She started give more extra credit assignments and points if you attended class. SHE WANTS YOU TO PASS!
She is terrible!!! She makes this class way harder than it should be. Don not take this class!
shes nice and super helpful but her tests require ALOT of work so don''t take her tests lightly. It''s not impossible to pass her class just do the reading and memorize her study guide. Be prepared to spend extra time than you normally would if your reading and memorization skills aren''t well developed.
If you wanna pass this class, make sure to read the textbook and handout. I enjoyed taking her class even though it is hard.
Have to go to the class to pass! I'm an A student and ended the class with a solid B although i struggled a lot in the beginning. Quiz's are extremely difficult so make sure to narrow it down. I wouldn't recommend taking this class for GED credit, but if you are really interested in majoring in the course she will teach you everything you need.
LOL I don't know why are y'all comllaining about this teacher. As an ESL student it was really complicated. But I worked really hard to pass. I got like C in all the test and pop Quizez but the final project saved me, I got an A+ And I passed wITH A C.
She's pretty rude to students when they get an answer wrong, and I didn't like her. She grades super hard, so you definitely have to study. She is fairly clear about what the assignments are though.
I noticed a sense of disgusted and rudeness when she is speaking to certain students and a sense of praise when speaking to others. Expects excellence when grading papers and hmk. Grades very tough. 2 long terminology test with no word bank, first is over 40 words to memorize. 2 "essay" type tests as well. She is very funny though.
She's a good teacher but just expects too much from the student. I feel as if she thought we were all art majors. Only 1 paper on a painting due midway through semester.
Malia, a teacher to remember. She has an awesome personality. Attendance is the key to success here. BTW, this is a college class, so do not expect to be reminded and have your hand held step by step. She is fun, and makes Art fun even if you are only taking it for gen ed. Take notes, show up. Be an adult and you will pass and learn some stuff.
the reading quizzes are so difficult! we have only 4 mins to do 5 questions. you have to read the book very very very detailed! I recommend you should not take her 4 weeks class because quizzes everyday along with reading too much! :( please don't take it if you don't want to regret like me now.
I really liked Serrano. She can be a bit condescending and blunt, but she's passionate about art and I learned a lot from her lectures. She loves participation. Be ready for long lists of terminology, mini quizzes/reading every night, and a few essays. Just take the time to study and pay attention and you'll be fine. Good class to take for GE.
Professor Finnegan de Molina ( Malia) her lecture are not the best resources neither is the book for your Midterm or Final. Prepare for 2 terminology test . The only best advice I can give is don't miss her class, read what's assigned , take notes in her class. Lastly, she is tough grader for the fields notes and museum report.
Took it for GE and art isnt my favorite. Liked the class a lot better then I thought I would. Shes pretty cool - do the homework and its an easy A.
Sometimes a little hard because the room was hot and I took the class after lunch. I liked the tests cause She told us exactly what to study. Plus shes pretty funny. Not an art major so wouldnt take another class but if O had too, yea Id sign up for Serrano.
Liked it - would take another class with her. The room was - dint take after lunch if you can help it cause you might fall asleep
Very hard class but Awesome instructor!!! Would take again - super interesting le tures
If you want an easy A this is not for you. I worked so hard in this class but am glad I did! I learned a lot and most imposition helped me when I transferred. Prof. Serrano was really caring and helped me a lot. Overall great class and instructor!
