Nice guy, does have a strange accent. He does not make it very hard on students and he is very honest! Take him!
Cool prof take it
Pretty easy course if you go to Jolie Copie on Mackay Street and pick up his old midterms and exams. I got an A+!
He is the worst teacher ever. The guy taught nothing in the class. Can you trust a guy who doesn't even know the url of the course website?! Buy a book and read it! That is what you have to do if you choose him. I couldn't believe that this kind of teacher can teach this couse for 11 years and still teaching?!
Great teacher! Not picky, with a sense of humor and a friendly attitude. Make sure you do all the homework and prepare yourself for a long final.
TOP !
very helpful teacher.Works A LOTT to help students.May have an accent however really makes things easy.Recommended for this class
This professor is amazing! One of the BEST professors around who genuinely cares about his students. He will give the course coordinator (Prof. Sharma, a nightmare) a hard time so that his students can be well prepared for the exams. His slides are UNBELIEVABLY amazing. He is fact one of the FEW teachers who goes to such lengths to help us to good.
THE MOST HELPFULL TEACHER AT JMSB!! His lectures are a little foggy but he makes up for it in his attention to his students ease of mind (and the book is great). He makes extensive use of first class, offers off-hours review sessions and gives usefull assignments that prepare for exams. He is worth waiting for!!! very efficient, super friendly !!
this teacher is very nice. HOWEVER!!!! this class would be easily taught if he wrote on the board! He shows you everything on powerpoint, so you<re lost half the time! and he shows you things you DON'T need to know!!! AVOID IF YOU CAN!! if not get a tutor.
very good
wonderful. must attend his class. funny, useful.
One of the best teachers at JMSB. He made the dreaded COMM 225 course a breeze. I got an A because of this guy. Really cares about the students.
I disagree with all the people comments. He makes more jokes than explaination. he does no problems on the board. he will just hand out hard assignments to you. I dont know if all these good comments about him has been written by him as anyone can write anything on this site.
If you are skilled in math, you can always take this teacher, but otherwise take someone intelligible and willing to teach you. His powerpoints are the only thing that will make you pass. I have no idea how he got this rating.
Teaches from slides provided by the book publisher, seems to know his stuff but isn't very good at explaining complicated topics. If you can, avoid this guy.
No one paid me to post here! His explanations are clear, assignments are very tough but they are absolutely important to prepare you for exams. The course is diffucult but makes he tries his best to help his students. PPT's are very helpful but he goes a bit fast in class. Approachable. Get ready to work. I would recommend this teacher.
he is highh-lariouss, but really an awesome teacher, take him if you get the chance.
Had to drop him after the midterm. I feel I was mislead by what he said to concentrate on. Problems assigned were nothing like exam questions. I don't think he took the course that seriously...
hilarious teacher and hilarious class... he teaches the basics well in class. He makes class sound easier than it is. You will either do really good or really bad in this class. The trick is to obviously do the assignments. The big trick however is to ask a lot of questions in class until you fully understand the material. If not, good luck to you
(BCEE 231 in Fall 09) A good prof, very approachable and helpful.Has a heavy accent ,if u can get over it ,u will enjoy his class.Gives a lot of hints and examples ,try not to miss lectures and u will be good for the final.
He's dreadful, but sadly.. better than the other comm 225 profs. I'll go as far as saying that comm 225 profs are worse than 215. Class is hard, but he literally tells you what will be in the exam. He doesn't take his job seriously, so take it to your advantage: listen to every word he says. I knew before the exam 70% of the questions.
First half of the course is fine, and he knows his stuff. Prepares you very well for the midterm, but then it falls apart. Lectures after the midterm ramble on and are really hard to follow. Powerpoints and assignments a plus.
He is a great teacher who really cares for his students. Do the assigned problems and you will be fine. He is a fair marker.
Such a sweet man! He really cares for his students. At times he does go through the material really fast, but go see him and you're good! Very fair when marking. He says hi to me in the halls everytime he sees me.
The people that rated this teacher below me are retards. The guy does as little as possible to get the coursework done. He is very accessible but is intentionally vague in his answers. Take this teacher if you want a good easy grade but you won't learn a damn thing
Prof. Talla understands the material to a great extent. One of the best, loving, and caring teacher. He prepares you very well for the exams. Problems he assigns are very hard, but they make the exam look like a joke.
Good teacher. Devoted to his students.Strong accent though.
Makes the course pretty easy even though I barely went to a few lectures. Assg 3 & 4 are in groups but everyone does it alone. Very easy final.
Very funny guy. Easy marker. If everyone does bad on the midterm/final he just curves the heck out of it so everyone looks good.
He is very kind, helpful.
Nice guy, clear classes. You walk away as if you've learned something. The only catch is the exam was not nearly as easy as the practice problems (maybe the course coordinator's doing). And Talla doesn't bring the midterm to class so you could see where you went wrong. You have narrow times to go to HIS office and check it out. Often condescending.
He explains well but the lectures are so slow that you are better off staying home and reading the textbook. Online quizzes are easy and exams are very hard.
Gives free marks; funny; approachable; final's always hard but he curves the grade; I highly recommend this prof.
Good prof. Approachable. Explains well.
He's a really good man, cares if you get a good grade or not & knows the material inside out. But he can't teach, the lectures will only make sense if you have prior knowledge. Overall, take him, the other professors are worst.
The other profs are worst, lol, u can't expect mush from programming teacher, they chose this profession because they don't like people, lol. good luck this is a tough course.
Good teacher, who encourages his pupils, and gives the means to success the course
If you have to take this course TAKE IT WITH THIS GUY. this s probably the only way you can pass this course. he makes the course fun. he's so funny and always in a great mood. assignments are simple and straight to the point. he prepares you very well for the midterm and final. he really cares about his students, it really shows.
Complete waste of of your time this class...nobody actually passes, talla just curves it or else there would be no civil students! the other teacher ha, just fails everyone..you have 2 choices if your in civil, take it with talla OR take it with ha, fail then take it with talla! but hes super funny, nice, just the class is stupid! BUT TALLAS AWESOME
This is probably the most useless class of all time, and it should be abolished from the school. But, since you have to do it, take it with Talla! This man is hands down the best.
The nicest teacher in Concordia
He's really a helpful prof. He does his best to let people past and explaining the theory.
This teacher genuinely cares about his students. He wants you to learn and do well. If you put effort in his class, he will put effort into helping you understand the material. Only downside is that his lectures can be a bit boring at times. Don't procrastinate(trust me). Every chapter kinda requires you to understand the previous one.
Certainly entertaining class. He respects any promise that he makes in class. He treats the class with respect and encourages all to do well. I surely recommend this teacher.
Take his class!! He is the nicest teacher at Concordia. He truly cares about his students and if you put in the work for the assignments (even if you don't have the exact answers as the solutions), he'll still give you a good grade.
Best 225 teacher without a doubt. Doesn't waste too much time with theory and focuses more on the practical. Prepares you very well for the exams and truly cares about his students.
Talla has a funny accent but he is a very kind teacher. He makes a couple of jokes so the class isn't boring. He will do anything to give you part marks on your exam. Apparently all the teachers suck for this class but if you take him and put the effort to practice the problems you will pass this class like a breeze. Talla FTW.
Really nice guy. Content is hard and confusing, but he really is there to help students. Has many office hours and tries to give you the most part marks as possible. Probably only good teacher teaching this course right now.
Amazing Professor. Gives everyone bonuses
What a good prof.! Not one of these doctorate powerpoint readers... At start I regretted my section choice because of his accent, but finally it was an excellent semester. He's preparing us well for exams and is teaching in a very practical manner. He knows the stuff and teach it to you by telling his story. I like this kind of teaching. Go ahead!
This is the prof to take for 225, I never attended class once and got a B. If you go to class he mentions some of the MCQ that will be tested, the questions on the tests and his tests are so fair its unbelievable. I did 225 last semester but dropped out because I bombed the midterm so bad as it was much harder, his midtermfinal are SUPER fair.
He is a very nice teacher and very approachable. He has an accent, and may be hard to understand, but he repeats himself until he drills it into your head. If you like russel peters indian impression, take him! He cracks funny jokes!
Comm 225 is a hard course, but if you want to do good and find it easy, take this class with Talla, he's approachable, he teaches the material well, and if he's writing the exam, then you will be more then fine.
Worst class I ever took in 2 years. You don't understand anything, 1st his accent is really hard to understand, 2nd he waste most of the lecture on things not related to the course, he comes late and you leave early. You learn 0 the from the course and the project is not clear and no feedback on the project even though he can (proposal, psntation)
What a good professor! Explain well and very clarified. But final exam is a little bit tricky, especially for multiple choice. But professor give very good final grade. Minimum B.
He does have an accent, but without a doubt he makes the class fun. His main goal to have students pass and laugh. Good guy, highly recommend taking him for summer class COMM 225
Great teacher for 225. Doesn't bother with the slides and just goes over practice problems. Doesn't take himself too seriously - lectures are short and funny. Take his class, watch him do practice problems then do them yourself afterward and you'll ace the class.
While he is funny and is hard to understand, what makes it even more difficult is his lack of organization. He speeds through problems and doesn't always explain the theory first. His TAs marked the midterm very harshly, so be prepared for it. He isn't as easy as people mentioned on here.
Absolutely tough grader, even claims his TA would grade even harsher. Unable to understand what he is talking about most of the time in class. Pointless to attend class because of this.
one word. tough.
BEST PROF EVER. The lectures are short and funny. He always wants to help. The exams are easy if you do his assignments.
Best teacher at concordia! He gets to the point and is so funny during lectures!
a good professor! Although the professor with a little accent, you will easy to get a good mark in the final exam if you do all the papers he gives to you.
The man is very kind and he is a generous grader. He does have a very thick accent but he tries a lot to make himself clear. I will definitely recommend!
Doesnt teach well but have a good knowledge. Also he gives all the important questions for midterms and final. Easy grader but no learning. PPTs are incomplete. Lectures are light and he is an entertainer.
The teacher is not even interested in teaching and lures the students for good grades only. Never learned anything in his class. A total waste of money and credits on him. Good grades does not mean that he does not award B or B-. He has given grades uptill B-. So if you are thinking that for good grades take his class than you are mistaken
He is a very nice person but a horrible teacher. He jumps from one topic to another without clarifying what he is talking about now. He doesn't put crucial information in the powerpoints, fails to teach certain theory that is on the exam, AND formulas he teaches in class do not match formulas used on the answers to his practice questions
When you ask for homework solution he will tell you there isn't, when you ask to see your mistakes in quizzes/ assignments/ midterm he will tell you that you can't. He speaks way too quickly and has a very pronounced accent. TBH, you will end up learning everything on youtube. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR PROGRAMMING CLASSES.
I understood what stack means, really important concept in programming. A pleasure to take this course with him. If you go to his office hour, you can see your exams and he explains the details. Final exam was hard, but got a good grade at the end. I feel, I really understood C++. He may not teach this course again, if he does, take it with him.
His lectures are very light.
He's the best sir.
Honestly you just need to pay attention in class and you will do great! He is hilarious and asks and answers questions to himself! He does have an accent but still understandable. If you listen in class he gives alot of hints for midterm/final. Downside is he was regularly late to class and sometimes would go through the material too fast.
As long as you can deal with his thick accent, you'll find him great
One of the most amazing profs around here. He knows his stuff and cares a lot about his students. He does have a thick accent though but you just need to pay attention
One of the best teachers in supply chain. He does have an accent but once you get past that you'll see he is truly amazing. Go to class, he gives good hints on what to study and what's going to be tested. A previous edition of the book can be found online so don't bother wasting money on a new one. Wish he taught more SCOM classes.
He was a solid prof who cared about the success of his students, and is also really funny. He is not a harsh grader, and often gives tips for assignments and questions in class. I definitely recommend him!
Rambles for the whole lecture, instructed us not to purchase the textbook and to only rely on slides. Super nice prof, knowledgeable and easily approachable with questions but not the best instructor.
Im sure he is very knowledgable in his feild but..... I would avoid his classes especially during covid online lectures. Very impatient and has difficulty using technology. He is literally teaching the class using microsoft paint. He doesnt answer emails and can get quite rude to his students during class. Take at your own risk !
He's a good choice for SCOM courses, not a tough grader, however, the lectures are a bit boring. Make sure you study and understand the chapters before the exams and you will be golden. The only downside is that he doesn't provide enough practice problems.
Uses PPT and paint-brush tools online. Explained the concepts and problem -solving very well. He was available on Saturday to provide feedback on mid-term exam. He has a lot of industry experience which can be clearly seen during lectures. Appreciated.
Numeric grade was just close to C+ and was hoping to get B- with round up but I got B. Very happy as he curved up. Made a calculator using Excel for problem solving, very useful during online exams.
He is detailed in teaching. He knows his stuff very well. I would say, excellent. He encourages questions. He explains well when you ask a question.
His lectures are pretty boring and monotone. He literally just reads off the slides. His exams are a mix of easy to moderate questions. He does care more about his student's learning than the grade they receive. Overall better than other professors but by no means amazing.
very nice teacher and works in the students favour/ gives them tips for doing well. Kind too !
He helped us by providing handmade PowerPoint slides and tons of classroom examples for the chapters. He cared for his students and always encouraged participation and he offered countless office hours before exams. He does have a little accent, but you will see he really knows his material and wants his students to learn and pass.
Absolute king of a teacher. Super understanding and caring; wants his students to understand and get the best grade they can get. The class material itself is fairly straight forward and his tests are pretty fair. Can be kind of long and there was negative grading for the MC exams, but very doable. Group project and assignments are free marks.
Knows his stuff, definitely take him for comm 225 or comm 215. Will take again for sure !!
He is unable to transfer knowledge to the students and does not clearly speak about each topic. He jumps from one topic to another. Easily gets distracted with his own side stories that are unrelated to the course. His lectures are mostly done on Microsoft Paint, and are a complete mess. Take his course at your own risk. Avoid at all cost.
Great programming course... He ran a lot of programs in class using Visual Studio. Knowledgeable professor. Caring and kind. Lots of assignments and a project too. Waiting for grade, but a great professor.
Just like other programming course in university, you will have to learn 95% of programming on your own (stack overflow, Youtube, and google). This professor is amazing, all you have to do for his class is understand his programming. He is also an easy grader. He always extend the assignment deadline just to release our stress a little bit.
Friendly Professor. He is not only intelligent but he teaches how to be intelligent (doing smart things). Informative classes.
Teachers straight to the point and guides you on exams every class so you know exactly what to study and prepare for the exams.
Nice and funny guy, straight forward to the point, easy lecture. The only flaw is his Indian accent but I got used to it by time. He will give extra marks if you show up in class in a specific point of time (a random day he will take attendance and give these in-class students some bonus points).
Easy A but the teacher really hates receiving emails or questions from students that are outside of class/office hours. He also has a hard time staying organized, ex: assigning a semester group project the last two weeks of class. He also does not know how to use moodle quizzes properly (counts first attempt only). Not recommended for GPA focus.
terrible teacher to take. he is so rude on emails and blames the students saying we need to be efficient on HIS time. disorganized and claims to care about students but the way he talks to us... not to mention what he did during covid of threatening to cancel courses cause of lack of attendance...
He's not a bad professor. I found that he explained some topics really well but rushed over other ones quickly. He provides helpful excel sheets and will help you understand how to use them. Overall he's a funny and easy going guy and i would take him again if i could.
Easiest grading teacher I have ever had at JMSB. Literally walks us through everything in class and gives all answers
amazing
Made this complex material appear simple. He guided the class to do well in the exams.
Nice guy. He wants students to be successful.
Don't take this prof, he's chill but the notes, tutorials and homework do not prepare you in any way, shape or form for the difficulty of the questions on the exams, not to mention you will have to do needlessly long calculations that eat up your exam time.
Definitely recommend him, he's a great professor.
Good professor. Caring.
Very nice and great insight
Professor is direct but funny. Uses unstuck ai and other resources to guide you on exams - takes the guesswork out. Straightforward grading, just show up and engage.
He explains every lab in detail through videos which helps when you do the graded assignments. The TAs are usually easy graders. Very easy class if you use his videos.
Very kind, very sweet, and overall a pleasant professor, he clearly cares about what he is teaching. The major downside and the reason I would not take another class is that there is a severe lack of organization and he allows students to walk all over him during online lectures, regularly being interrupted and spoken over by students.
Doesn't really like to answer emails. Difficult to understand.
He specifies what material students should focus on for the exam. He also cares about students' success and he's very patient and understanding.
Easy course overall and informative on cash flows. Final exam was harder (not enough time) than I thought but we got curved so it is alright.
Prof. Talla is a nice person. He helped us on the Assignments. Good overall.
He dis the exercises in class to help on the assignments work. He literally did the SAP assignment in class. He gave good tips on the database Assignment; and did similar exercise for Power BI assignment. He is good. Easy course.
