well, first i thought her class was very hard because of the project, but after the project, everything seems better, and she gives ec so its good thing for making up the class. you can certainly learn a lot in her class,but a lot of time-consuming work.

this class has so much projects!! her tests are not easy at all. u have to study and do all the projects on top of that! otherwise, u will not pass this class. she's very informative and gives u ample time to do the projects.

Lots of projects and assignments, but she's very helpful and gives you lots of time to do it. Exams are a bit challenging, but going over the chapt mult ch & t/f q's in the book's website will help out a lot.

Mallory is a well prepared instructor with clear guidelines. She answers questions well. True, she does intimidate students into turning things in on time, etc. Print the presentations b4 class. Extra credit makes up for the lack of a curve.

Don't be late to class..strict, but clear...she's easier at the end of the semester...lots of extra credit...to get an A (which is not too hard) you must read the text.

It's just like any other class, put the effort into it and you'll do fine. She gives you a project early on but its actually good for you because when you take the accounting midterm you'll be well prepared. Just be sure to dedicate a whole day to the project.

She is a very nice person if you talk to her. She'll tell you up front that there's a lot of work in this class, and she's not kidding. There are a bunch of projects and a bunch of tests. May not be a great idea to take this class with a full load. I liked the class - I would take her again.

No freebies or curves in this class, but you're guaranteed to have a lasting understanding of the material.

The summer class was very tough because of the nature of the non-profit accounting. Just have to put a lot of time for the first test and with good understanding upfront you can cruise along the other midterms. She was clear about the material but it took lots of time outside of class for studying and people thought it was a easy class and failed

I took this class during a winter semester (4 hr/day 13 weeks) Solid teacher. Boring subject but her style was tolerable. Got an A-. No surprises on the exam questions as we had seen similar questions in the book and/or in class. If you get it in your mind that she's the problem you'll never get your head straightened out.

She was very clear with the material, and she taught the very tough subjects in an easily understandable way that I am using for my CPA exam now. Grading was fair to everyone, and there was no surprise

She is a tough professor, who will teach you a lot, however, she also expects a lot from you. She does give partial credit, but oftentimes you wont get any because of the way she gives it. If you want to learn and be prepared in life, take her, otherwise avoid her if you plan on passing.

Mallory isn't all that bad, the class consists of an outrageouse amount of homework and projects though. If you do end up taking this class make sure you have a lot of time for homework.

Her policies are quite difficult, (such as work being due in the first 5 min of class otherwise a 0) but once you get past that she is actually not that bad. Had her during the winter and it was tough with tons of hmwk and tests, but ended up getting an A so not too shabby. Just be sure to study, study, STUDY.

Prof. McWilliams is great. She gives fun lectures and handy extra credit opportunities. This class is for serious students, though. There are textbook exams, large projects, and no late turn-ins. You must be very dilligent with your work in there. Also, try taking Intermediate Accounting beforehand, 'cause she's going to make you do Cash Flows!

she could be a little more clear on the subject, but if you read the book and do the comprehensive problems in the chapters(the book breaks it down step by step) you can get a B or an A. she is very nice lady, during office hours she was very helpful

The class does take a lot of work, but I don't think it's hard. I believe that I would have gotten a better grade if I studied more. It would have been nice if the professer was more helpful, but I can understand that we should know our financial accounting before taking this course. It's hard to say if she really wants to be there or not.

Her projects are easy but time consuming. Her tests are the hard part of the class, but pretty easy if you study. 50-60% multiple choice. She's not that bad of a teacher as everybody says. She's passionate in teaching the subject, just pay attention in class,study and you'll get a B at least.

She is a wonderful teacher. If you want to master your financial acconting statements take her. she is very clear about what she wants from the student. gives a lot of extra points and as long as you read the book and do the projects this is an easy A class.

I finished with A- by trying really hard. I have to admit I did not like her at first, but I started to understand and respect her later in the semester. She has a high standard on students and likely you will find her unfriendly or unhelpful. A lot of projects and midterms. Try hard if you want an A. Takes a lot of time and effort.

Mallory is an extremely logical & effective teacher with tons of real world experience to back her lectures. If you are actually interested in accounting you will really enjoy this class like I did. People may think of her as unhelpful because she will not just give you an answer. She makes you think... can you believe it?

This class is a really good one to take. I learned so much more in this class than my intermediate accounting course. There are a few time consuming projects, but if you are interested in accounting in the future this class will help you in both your career and intermediate accounting courses. This lady is strict, but don't let that scare you off.

Very clear and explains her material well. Hard tests with tricky questions but definitely a good class to take. I had no experiece with acct. and learned a lot from her two week winter session for fin. acct. i would take her again but not an easy A class. u need a lot of time.

Extremely helpful & knowledgeable. Gives plenty of extra credit points to help you. Don't expect good grades if you don't read the material or come to class. She is very fair. Part of the problem with the negative reviews from students is that they don't have the necessary language skills to succeed in this class, as demonstrated by their reviews.

She's strict, but if you follow her guidelines, which are specifically given in class, you can get an A. You don't even need to read the book, but definitely read the online slides, because this is where she seemed to get her test questions. Overall alot of projects but they're manageable. The SUA is very time consuming though.

Excellent teacher! Very sweet woman with a wealth of real world experience. Prepare well for class ahead of time and bring questions. Tests focus on your comprehension of the subject and are more difficult than the book homework. Lots of in-class problems to help with comprehension.

Good teacher. She's not bad. You must read the textbook because you're senior student in this class. It's important to attend the class. It's not easy class and you have to study hard. She teaches you how to practice your brain.

This class sucked but Mallory was ok. There was no question about what was needed to get the grade.

128 is a fairly easy class if you read the damn book and do the assigned sample problems a few times. Mallory will definitely scare you into doing the homework. 3 exams, 2 quizzes, a super-easy group assignment that has you attending a city-council meeting. Guvament accounting is not hard.

Very strict and is unsympathetic towards those who are not good at accounting. The AIS topics are pretty easy if you read the book. The CAST is difficult if you suck at accting and it takes up a large chunk of your grade. Go to the tutorial for help. If you screw up on the CAST test, she will review it to see if you cheated. She is nice tho

Read the slides after she introduces the chapter to class. She gives extra credit, questions often coming directly from the "recommended" problems given in study guides. Use office hours to go over CAST - get 100% on it because exams are tough. She is not as tough as she is made out to be.

If you don't read the book or have knowledge of what advanced accounting is, you will be lost & feel dumb in the class. Her exams are pretty straight forward. No surprise. Get inside her head.You'll be able to guess what she will test on Midterms & quizzes. Do homework. I got A+.

Not hard, not easy. In order to do well in this class you must have a solid grasp of Fin. Acctg, read the textbook and ppt, do the multiple choice problems at the end of each chapter, start the projects early and get them checked, take advantage of the five pointers. If you do this you can get a good grade. The hardest part of class is projects.

The class is very intemidating at first, yet its easy. Finish the manual CAST, fast. Really nice Professor, class gets easier right after you finish manual CAST. I liked her!! Will learn lot about the 5 business cycles and the Accounting Cycle. She added some weighted to my accounting degree from SJSU.

Seemed tough and intimidating at first, but her midterms aren't bad and she was genuine and caring.

Don't let the reviews fool you: Mallory is awesome! She is crystal clear on what to expect & her exams are extremely straightforward and not hard if you study. She makes herself available for questions, & behind that tough exterior is a really caring prof. I took this class with Fowler, got a D, took it with Mallory got an A AND actually LEARNED.

You really do "hit the ground running." You'll be lost for the first few weeks because she throws a lot at you. But don't give up just yet, keep doing exactly what she says (and I mean EXACTLY) on all of her assignments and projects and you will almost definitely come out with an A. I HIGHLY recommend recording her lectures (ask for permission).

I didn't care for her teaching style, but I can honestly say the projects significantly increased my understanding of acc. You really need your acc. fundamentals for this course. I recommend taking 121A prior. 3 textbook tests (lectures help very little in test prep), 1 acc. test, and 2 projects. Do the projects early and use the tutoring center.

She is a FAIR professor. I took her for 120A and got a B without studying at all. Her class is easy as long as you study. She gives a lot extra credits, and I got two almost perfect scores for both of my midterms. Again, as long as you really study and UNDERSTAND the material, you ll easily aced this class.

Class attendance is extremely helpful because she goes over material that isn't available any other way. Very willing to help if you ask for it before assignments are due. If you are a dedicated student, you will learn a lot from her. Tough but very fair. One of my favorite professors.

She is a harsh grader and will doc points NO PARTIAL credits. She rushed through lecture and didn't make her solutions available outside of class as if it is copyrighted material. She didn't allow picture taking most of the time so you would fall behind lecture writing all the notes. She was nice and brought us candy though.

A hard class to try and make interesting. A lot of term memorization and dry material so she tries she. Points come mainly from CAST, exams, and quizzes. There are a bunch of short answer questions that come earlier in the semester and eventually these become extra credit if you get enough. Be willing to work, especially on CAST. Got an A.

Just a early warning that You Do Need Prior knowledge in Accounting to take this class, it was fairly easy for me to follow her class because I already knew most of the general accounting procedures. She does give you a heads up on all the accounting you need to review during the first days of class, But she is very clear and knows her course well.

class is very hard, and she is a strict grader. I made one small mistake on a problem, and she deducted the whole problem, no partial credit. Overall, the class was passable. Practice the Hws a lot before exams, then you will do fine. I did not read the book at all. I only did the hws assigned over and over until I memorized all the steps.

This class was easier than I expected. There are no surprises on the exams and quizzes. She tells you what problems to practice on and the exams are similar to HW. She is a old school tough love professor when it comes to grading. You must understand the material in order to get full credit. At least her final exam is one of the easiest exams ever.

had her at UCSC! GREAT PROF! Very funny, smart, and gives extra credit for those who are on track in class. Highly recommend her!!! She makes it clear! Very hard subject, yet easy with her teaching. She is intimidating at first because she gives you fair warning about what's required of you for this difficult class. The CAST projects are tedious and she will refuse to answer many (but not all) questions; however, she tells you where to go to find the answers. Exams aren't difficult-entirely based on classwork and reading. I really enjoyed her.

Mallory is tough but in the end the grade you get is based on the effort you personally put into the course. If your a slacker, your going to find this course very difficult. To get an A do the projects in time, read the textbook and powerpoints, study the questions in the textbook, and don't miss class.

She is a great instructor. If you are an accounting major you should enjoy problem solving with numbers until the final answer comes out correct. You *must* be able to use what you learned in fin acct (IS, BS, reconciliation) or you will struggle. She kind of weeds out students who are not naturally into accounting, so some love her some don't.

Yeah she's a tough cookie, she doesn't hand out A's. You have to work for your A, but honestly it's not that hard. If you're GREAT at FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS to the T, you will be fine. Slackers won't do well. 2MT, 3 HW probs (lowest dropped), 3 quiz (lowest dropped), 1 group proj (easy if u have good group). I've also taken BUS120A with her. Love her

The way the material is taught makes it very easy to understand. Showing up to class and taking good notes is important. People who struggle in the class tend to be the ones who sit in the back not paying attention. Do not try to cheat because she will catch you.

Mallory was in the military, meaning the class has tight structure, but she's very fair with her grading. If you want tough projects and medium difficult tests, take her. If you want easier projects and harder tests, take Fowler. She offered 25 points of extra credit (600 total pts in class). I would definitely recommend her, very glad I took her

She may come off as strict but I like her military style of teaching and Emails! Advanced accounting was a tough class, but don't give up. Do not slack! I was able to pass even by missing some classes due to military because I studied hard and I had a good friend catch me up. I suggest taking her. She is strict but sweet and caring :)

Mallory has a "tough love" attitude with her students. She wants you to succeed. She is helpful, but on her terms. That means GO TO CLASS and ask questions when she opens up to questions in class. If you dont take advantage of this time, she won't answer. Do the HW problems, take good notes, and study hard. 126 is not the easiest but it's do able.

One of the best at SJSU. Took her for 120 and 126. She does everything in her power to help you and is very kind (if you try). 126 had a small, 3 page project (4 hours), 3 quizzes (drops 1), 4 easy in class assignments (drops 2), 2 midterms, and a final. 126 is easier than 121B, I'd take it if you want to be more prepared for FAR on the CPA.

Many will try and scare you away from her. Though, she is a great professor. She herself seems very strict from the get-go, and stresses you out, constantly saying you won't pass if you do this, bla bla bla. It's good though, because it makes you work hard, and then you look back, and say wow, I got a better grade than I thought. Extra credit too!
