she is a firecracker tons of energy easy to understand, will to help you if you need it will tutor you if you ask
She is fun to listen to, but her test are HARD!! I would advise you to take Macro 1st before Micro. She believes what she believes and that is final
No Comments
she is very nice techer but some times she like to talk what happened to her. the class is easy to understand but her test was very hard.she is funny professor her act is look like kids when she was hungry.Alao she like to named to some of student to remmeber.
Great teacher and explains everything very thoroughly. If you can't understand her you're stupid!
Thinks everybody in the class is stuipid does not understand how to teach
She is an excellent teacher. If you are not capable dont blame her.
She is a great teacher. Very willing to help out when needed. Yeah her tests are hard, but that's your fault if you don't go to class or pay attention. I would DEFINITELY take other classes from her!!!
SHE IS BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER ON CAMPUS. VERY HELPFUL AND EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. I WILL DEFINATLY TAKE ANOTHER CLASS FROM HER. SHE LOVES CLASS PARTICIPATION. SHE ALSO GIVES AMPLE OPPORTUNITY FOR EXTRA CREDIT. DONT MISS CLASS BECAUSE SHE IS EASY ON THE EYES TOO.
This prof is young and knows what it's like to be a college student. She has good humor and is very understanding and easy to get along with. She reviews a lot and gives great notes which you can accually understand. She makes her own test which comes a lot from her notes. Good professor.
She is sometimes not very clear and gets to emotional at times. I don't think that she grades very fairly. I would not take her again.
Hard to understand and goes off on weird directions sometimes and ends up talking about weird things. Very hard class and not too fair at grading. Shes nice though.
I do not recommend this class to any females. Tends to favor guys in class. Grading was highly unfair. her class is not based out of the textbook, making it difficult if you like learning from reading the material. I would not take this professor again.
I think that she is a unfair professor.Especially,if you are an international student,DO NOT take this class with her because you will look like a fool all the time
She doesnt explain herself well, and she grades really tough on assignments that she expects you to figure out all by yourself.
She explains everything very clearly. She makes economics fun. Always helpful and understanding. Tough on grading though.
Expects way too much. Treats it like a grad class, and grades way hard.
I just took her exam. I have no idea what these people are talking about. Her exam was not difficult at all. She is very reasonable. She also teaches very well.
She is the best ever. A funny lady from middle east. She works very hard, teaches very well and helps us outside of her class. Her exams are a little difficult so you have to study hard. I can not believe some of these ratings. I love her.
She is a very cool woman with a great sense of humor. I really like her class. She was even fun outside of class. She is the kind of person you can just BS with outside of class. Her class wasn't very hard and she taught it well. She made sure everyone knew what she was saying before she moved on.
I like her, but it is obvious she has a low opinion of the students.
A wonderful woman. Extremely helpful, almost to a fault, tests are harder than you would expect from the class content but not unbearable. Easy class. Good information and interesting.
This class is easy, she makes sure that you will do good on the test and she makes sure there is plenty of chances for extra credit. You're a fool if you don't enroll in her class.
I kinda like her, she is hot!
she is good teachar!!!
she is good teachar but her exam is hard. that exam is not for 200 level.
Miss Komai is a very good teacher. I agree that her exams are not easy though. Overall a good class. I learned alot.
I had taken this class with another professor and hated econ. She changed my mind. I recommend her class to everybody. She is one of a kind!
Her grading sucks. Good teacher though.
bad professor
This was my second Econ class. I am not crazy about Econ but this class was fun. She explains things very well and is always available to help her students. If you do not understand her then something is wrong with you. I enjoyed her class.
Hot, Hot, Hot, and a great professor.
She is the best professor that I have experienced here. Take her class if you want to learn something.
Explains econ clearly. Funny and kinda crazy!! Never boring.
I am in her math/econ class. I think she expects too much. She is a good prof though. I think I learned alot.
Our class average was a c-. Avoid her if you can. She is a pleasant lady and a good teacher but who cares?!
I like her. She is a little pushy and demanding. But she is definitely a good teacher. Study your NOTES. dont even buy the book.
Amazing teacher. A little crazy. Strong character. I nerer knew an Iranian woman can be like that!
Awesome teacher. She really explains everything well and is entertaining. If you study your notes and her practice quizzes you can do well on the tests
Very good teacher. Has fun with class, close enough in age to students to be able to relate.
I am an economics minor so i had to take this class for that and business. Liked the class, dont buy the book, just didnt like her grading thought i deserved an A but oh well
She was awesome and was VERY funny... the guys were much more interested in her than the class itself... but thats okay! She was very flexible and often lets you leave early... she doesn't take attendance but its a bummer if you don't get the notes or are there to understand her notes anyway. It's a good class... have fun!
Hard Class but a great teacher. Works hard and cares. Take this class to learn and have fun at the same time.
Very likeable teacher! She is however one of the most strict graders i've met. She failed a large part of the class and only gave one A. She also liked to single out white male students and make fun of them. She was in no way discriminating however, as I was the butt of 75% of her jokes and got the highest grade in the class.
most emotional and moody professor.. happy one hour and angry next moment ... Do NOT take her class if u want a good grade.. i didnt make the deans list cuz of that. just giving my 2 cents.
Oh well, I did not ace the class either! She is pushy, demanding and sometimes a pain in the ...! but she was a good prof.
Very helpfull and is willing to explain material when you do not get it. Super Smart knows what she is talking about. Makes class as fun as you can make Econ
She is a great teacher! The best Econ. teacher that I have ever had! She makes sure you know the material and everyday she does a quick review of what you did last time to refresh you. There are 2 tests and a Final and as long as you go to class and take good notes the tests are really easy. If you talk class she gives extra credit to!!!
She is a great teacher. I took econ 205 with another professor and was totally lost, but she made everything soo clear in econ 206. Highly recommend her. Dont buy the textbook. everything is from her notes.
I didn't care for her. She was kind of boring since she would go off on examples to the point where you get lost. There are better profs out there for econ. she is helpful though. dont buy the booke ither.
Don't buy the textbook, you'll never use it. She teaches everything in class and makes it very simple to understand. Everything seems pretty intuitive. Might be some harder parts later in the semester, but it's fine if you study enough. There are just 2 exams and a final (little extra credit). Nice teacher, funny, helpful, weird (but cool) accent.
Best Econ teacher at St. Cloud, a little difficult, but makes things interesting. Very clear. Fun.
I got an A and I am a female indian (neither male nor white). Take your excuse somewhere else. Why American white males? She is a Muslim from the middle east. Need I say more?!
I found her to be very biased. She plays favorites. She also doesn't hold clear grading standards, and never shows you how you're doing in her class. She doesn't even explain a concept and starts calling on you to do it in front of the class, which makes no sense, because you can't read ahead beforehand, because there is no book.
Today was the last day of our class. This class was the best class i had ever taken. She clearly explains everything and makes sure all students understand the material. She sure cares about her students and goes out of her way to help them. She is a little pushy in class but she means well.
horrible professor. never tell students where you are or how you are doing. she is just too lazy to take time for that. don't take her class
I can't believe these ratings. So unfair! I have taken three classes with miss komai and think she is a great professor. everybody I know liked her. She is smart, very strong, hard working, and so nice to everybody for heaven's sake! If you skrewed up dont blame her!!
does not tell you how you are doing in the class. Annoying!!!!! think she is the only one who lives in this world. Some times she even does not what she is talking about. Does not know how to talk in class!!! Puts people down. Never grades hw. Very insecure. Do not take classes with her.
In my personal opinion atleast to me she seemed cold, unfriendly, snapping at me, rude sometimes when i talked to her. after that i decided to not ask her anything just to avoid getting a bad grade. she gave us INDIVIDUAL Take Home exams BUT seems like everyone worked on it in big groups. so whoever had biggest group did least work & got best grade
I did not think her class was easy. She likes what she is doing, is very clear and pretty easy to understand. But, she expects too much like you are in graduate school. Overall she is cool.
Great professor. Makes you work hard but you learn alot. Easy on the eyes.
Great teacher. She never assigned homework- your grade is based on three exams. But if you go to class, take notes, and study for the exams, you'll do fine. No textbook needed!
Prof. Komai is very thorough. She makes sure everyone understands the material before she moves on. If you bring a good attitude into class she is very fun! You don't need the book because she tests directly from her notes. Take her!
I was guaranteed a grade and a half lower than my 205 class, but I got two full grades higher. SHE IS AWESOME!! And so funny. You don't need to buy a textbook because she goes over everything you need to know in class. She also goes over it until EVERYONE gets it!! SHE IS BY FAR THE BEST ECON TEACHER!!! She is so helpful and generous! Some EC too!!
She is by far the best professor I have ever had. She makes economics fun to listen to. Makes sure all students understand the subject. Very friendly.
Komai has an A+ in my book. I recommend her. She is very clear in what she teaches and what she expects. You will not fail this class unless you really work for it.
Difficult course but she knows how to teach it. She makes sure that nobody is left behind. Loves what she does and cares about her students. She let us write a paper instead of the final exam which is cool.
Mana is great. She doesn't want you to buy the book, she tests straight from the notes. She explains everything very intuitively. She goes on tangents about very random things, but its comical. Take Managerial Econ with her!
The best math teacher I have had so far. She makes math fun. Cares about her students. Sometimes a little too much. She ends up spending too much time on one student.
she is the best teacher ever. You need to invent a new word to describe her.
why did i waste my time taking ECON with this professor ?
Dno't bother buying a book or it would be like burning almost 200 dollars. Class is usually boring and you don't get out early ever. Mana is a nice lady and dresses well. You can get extra credit if you answer questions in class. If you did poorly on the 1st test and much better on the 2nd she'll bump ur final grade up. Not recommended, sry Mana.
great prof ! Fun class periods.
Easy to learn from. Very nice teacher. Never missed a class. EC options available if you attend her class regularly. Exams can be complicated but she curves the grades.
The two ratings below were posted by me and I have requested ratemyprofessor to remove those ratings as I had written those when I was not under my normal adaptation.I think she is one of the most helpful professors I have ever taken courses with. Her most admirable quality is that she explains the material so well! She is awesome!Highly recommended
I took three classes with her in a row. They were 406, 405 and 486. Her explanation of concepts is top class and I got an A in all of the courses I took under her.
She is a very good teacher. Interested in what she does. Makes sure that we follow closely. The exams are mostly based on her notes and her practice questions are useful. Also a nice person.
One of the best profs I have ever had. I did not think she can do a good job at the beginning because she said she is a microeconomist and this is her first time teaching Macroeconomics. But she was great. She cares about students alot.
Mana is awesome! I recommend taking her for any class she teaches. I had never taken an Econ class before I took 206 and she did an excellent job explaining concepts intuitively. She literally gives you every single note that will be on a test. Seriously, the book is NOT needed, at all. I got an A and never opened the book. Don't even buy it.
The best ECON teacher. Very helpful. Just show up to class even though attendance is not require it will help you a lot.
She doesn't want students to fail her classes. Therefore, she generously curves the grades for students. Overall, good professor. She loves what she teaches.
The best teacher i've ever had so far.She loves what she teaches, she's funny and at the same time she teaches you a lot!!!!I would recommend her for all the classes she teaches for sure
Great teacher! She is extremely helpful and attendance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. She curves all her tests and if you attend class regularly (she knows) she bumps your grade up at the end of the semester. She also does not require a textbook.
Good instructor, she explains things well. However it was very annoying always being treated and referred to as "kids". She bumps the grades of her favorite students. Gives extra credit to students that speak up in class. Every test question has "all of the above", "none of the above", "a,b,d", "a,c,d" etc. as choices. Very Tricky!!
Great professor, her lectures are both interesting and engaging. Exams are tricky; however, she directly provides all answers through class notes and mock exams. Study and you will earn an "A".
She practically gives you the exam answers, you just need to show up for class and study. Great teacher
She helped students, and she cared that they knew the information. 2 tests and the final is usually optional.
Mana is a very good professor. She really cares if her students understand the information. No book, only two tests and an optional final. Way better than other Econ professors. Take her both 205 and 206
Attendance is Not Mandatory. she is very nice teacher. 2 exams no home work
Econ is not my thing but this prof is great she is very helpful. i would recommend her.
Mana is amazing. She really cares about her students success, and is willing to go above and beyond to make sure everyone understands the content being covered. Prior to taking this course, I had no former economics training. With Mana's wonderful teaching ability, I was able to grasp the concepts. Definitely recommended! Speak up in class, ask q's
She is very nice and helpful. Only two tests, no homework and no book. She has you write down notes and examples during class and gives you the chance to earn extra credit by answering questions in class. I strongly recommend her.
Very good teacher, do NOT try to cheat in any of her classes she will catch you!! Have heard stories of different ways students have tried and she always finds out. plus with the way she teaches if you go to class and study you'd have no reason to. Very enthusiastic and easy to learn from + shes passionate about economics
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Her lecture was fantastic. It's help us understand the materials very well. Textbook is not require. No homework. And there were only 2 exams for the whole semester. Exams are tricky though so make sure you read the class notes and go to class!
Professor Komai is the best professor I've had so far into my college career at St. Cloud State University!!! Very approachable professor and is looking to help her students in any possible way that she can! She gives extra credit if you answer questions during class. I would definitely recommend taking one of her classes!! No textbook required!
Mana is an amazing professor! I am a bit disappointed that she is not teaching ECON 205. Her lectures are very clear and structure. You do not need to purchase a textbook. Tests can be tough, but if you listen & study ahead of time, you will have no problem. She also curve grades to those who come to class a lot. Take her! You wont regret it!
Doesn't take attendance but it's crucial to passing. There are three exams and there is no homework/busy work. Lectures entire class and expects you to take notes, but she tells you exactly what to write down. Gives copies of practice questions and past tests before exams as examples. No textbook. Would take again with Mana.
Mana is a GREAT professor! I wish she taught more Econ classes! I would take them all! She is pretty funny in class and favors the students who actually put in an effort! But she is also understanding if something comes up! Extremely passionate- makes her Amazing! One of the reasons I decided to dbl major in Econ was because of her class!
the hardest thing I have ever done, physics easier than her class! and if she hates you, will receive lower grade
No homework. No textbook. Just show up and take notes. You can answer questions for extra credit points. We have 3 exams only. They were easy because she gives you a study guide. Too easy. Only an idiot would fail.
If you can take her do it! Easy class because you don't need a textbook. She gives you all the information you need to succeed in class. 3 easy exams! She's super nice too so if you miss a class just go to her office hours and she will give you the notes.
Do not need any text for this class which is very convenient. She gives all the notes in class & is more than willing to help someone who has to miss class get the notes. She gives multiple study guides/practice questions before the exams that are basically identical to the exam itself. She is hard to understand at times but writes everything down.
She's the absolute best. The economics she teaches is very dry but she does her best to keep it interesting and relevant. She's lectures the entire time and you take notes on the material but she tells you exactly what to write down. 2-3 exams, thats it. She is pretty funny and probably the nicest professor I've met at SCSU. "That's a point fiver!"
Exams are tricky. Practice questions give you a good idea about the style of her exams but they are not enough. You need to study her notes very carefully to get a B or above. She does not care much for students who do not attend the class. If you miss some classes, you should take her notes from your classmates or ask her for her notes.
No textbook. Super super easy 3, 2 question homeworks. She remembers who comes to office hours and who comes to class. She will give you extra time or redos if you two the two aforementioned items. She's fun and simple to listen to. One of my favorites.
Such a great teacher! She gives you all the notes you need for exams- there are 2 + 1 final, which isn't mandatory. Before the finals, she hands out a couple practice exams. The finals aren't very hard, just study. There are quite a few opportunities for extra credit, too.
A fun class.
Lots of lectures but it's economics after all. she really teaches well and cares a lot about her students. She is really nice and does everything in her hand to make you understand. would take her again. Seriously, she is the best for econ. Highly recommend taking her class FOR BOTH 205 and 206
She is terrible
Do not ever take her if you are an international student. She gives you a very difficult time. Also your friend who writes the same answers as you will get a better grade.
No textbook or homework in the class. Tests were difficult but she gave plenty of practice tests. Didn't take attendance, but you need to show up.
I would highly recommend Mana! If you're looking for an easier micro class, this is the one. She gives you all of the notes, so you don't have to pay for an expensive textbook. She also gives out extra credit if you have a good question or answer questions, so if you know you might need it, speak up! She's super kind and hilarious!
Makes sure everyone understands and explains well. Two exams only. No homeworks, quizzes or anything. Attend the lectures and you'll do good.
Mana is a great teacher with a good sense of humor. She does have an accent which makes the jokes even better, but I never had a problem understanding. She follows her own powerpoint through the whole class. It is very straightforward; she introduces a topic, defines it, and then uses it in an example. Extra credit for participating and easy tests
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. You will regret it. 100 possible points for class, split into 4 homework assignments. Lecture videos are horrible. Lecture notes are less horrible. Absolutely impossible to figure out what the question is asking. Grades tough. Wait to take a different prof, seriously. Don't do it. You'll regret it.
There are only four assignments that makes up the whole grade. I didn't do well on one of the assignments which is 25% of your grade. Econ is not very interesting to me so I didn't enjoy the class that much. The teacher seemed fine just didn't interact with her because it was an online class.
You think that 4 assignments would be easy but its not. She has a clear syllabus but if you fail one assignment. Your grade is done for. Each assignment is worth 25% and I didnt do well on the first one which lowered my grade significantly. I tried emailing her multiple times with simple question but she will ask you to go to her zoom hours.
She goes by Mana Komai now, very spontaneous. Loves to give out in-class participation extra credit. She claims for the shy kids she'll offer online extra credit, but she only ever offered 3 opportunities, otherwise its all in-class which was probably more than 20. Do not skip class, you will not understand a thing with just her notes/slides.
Homework wi
Graduate managerial Econ: Course work is graded on completion. If you turn homework in you get 100%. I found this to be very problematic when it came to exam time, because I thought I knew more than I actually did. When a student gets 100% on the homework and then gets a C+ or B- on the exams red flags start going off. There is no feedback on exams
She has an amazing way of teaching her students. And also, she gives extra credits to the students who participates in the class.
Easy class if you show up. Reminded me of high school the way she teaches. 2 tests only and no HW
Mana's classes are engaging and straightforward. With no mandatory textbook, just attending lectures and reviewing her notes can get you through the two exams. For extra help, unstuck study is a great study aid alongside the practice exams.
